Werewolf Ambulance: A Horror Movie Comedy Podcast - Episode 357- The Empty Man (2020)

Episode Date: November 29, 2021

In this week's episode, we're tackling a bit of a head-scratcher: the 2020 film "The Empty Man." Come along with us on this journey-- special topics for your consideration include: peeing in the pool,... white people doing international travel, emo teens, Stephen Root, Big Boi, landlines, and a recurring joke that is just a bit empty, man. We reference the film "Kill List" in this episode quite a bit; you can hear us discuss that all the way back in Episode 19. Also, I just googled "cerebral horror" just to see what movies we've covered, and we'd done nearly all of the top 10. Somehow--somehow! "Cube" was on that list so I'm gonna go ahead and recommend that. It's Episode 166.  Find us online: Support us at patreon.com/werewolfambulance-- we just recorded "Starship Troopers" for our action movie podcast and...hoo boy. Starting point is 00:00:00 Hello Katie. Hi, Alan. I could not for the life of me remember the name of the movie Bye-bye Man for the first half of this one. It's literally our sign-off. It is our thing. We've adopted it as our thing. Yeah. I could not. I was like, was that movie about that man? Was a no-no-man? No, it wasn't no-no. That was a good joke we made though, no-no-man. I can't even remember what bye-by-man's deal was. You like couldn't, don't see it, don't think it, don't say it? don't say it? Don't spray it. Don't. Don't. Don't. Don't. Don't. Don't. Don't. Don't. Don't. Don't. Don't. Don't. Don't. Don't. Don't. Don't. Don't. Don't. Don't. Don't. Don't. Don't. Don't. Don't. Don't spray it. Don't. Don't. Don't. Don't spray it. Don't. Don't. Don't spray it. Don't th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thr. thr. thr. thr. the. the. the. th. thr. th. the. thr. thr. th thr. th are we talking about this week? We're talking about the Empty Man.
Starting point is 00:00:47 Yeah, which is a poorly named movie. Oh, I strongly agree with that. There was no way I would go to Empty Man and be like, yes, please. Yeah. Although it was in our HBO Watch list, so Rob must have added it at some point. I have a proposition for renaming this movie. To what? David Fincher's kill list. Yeah. Yeah, we'll get into that, huh? First let me apologize for the condition of my voice. Sure. I won a screaming contest two towns over last night, so this is how I sound.
Starting point is 00:01:19 It's a it's early in the morning. This is an early morning record. We, some friends of mine and I rented a private karaoke room last night. Oh. And you know, the thing where you like possibly drink a little too much and then you look back at your night and you just see yourself sort of in flashes. And in one flash I'm just like bent over double screaming despite all my rage, I am still just a rat in a cage. So I woke up this morning and I was like, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, I to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the the the the the to their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their the the their the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the, I have the. I have thean. Weaughean. Iean. Iean. Iean. Ieananan. Iean. Iean. I have theanan. I am still just a rat in a cage. So I woke up this morning and I was like, oh no, I have to record.
Starting point is 00:01:51 That is the most on-brand for Katie karaoke thing I can think of. Thank you. I also tried doing country grammar and then halfway through the first verse, I remember that the second verse ends every line with the n-word. Yeah. Oh no, what will I th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th. What will thi th. What will thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi tho I'm tho thu. that tho tho-I tho-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-s. I th. I th. I tho thu. I thu. I thu. I thu. I thu. I'm thu. I'm tho'-s thananananananananananananeded-seee-sevented-seveeveenenneed-seveenenneed-s. I've then-s then-s tho'-s that the second verse ends every line with the n-word. Yeah, it's like oh no what will I do? Did you just go for it? I just I just paused. I just paused. Okay Corral how? You did the radio edit. I did the radio edit. Yeah I really did. Smart move. Thank you. I once again was I was listening to my one of my hip-hop playlists on my drive for Thanksgiving and Bombs over Baghdad came on and I was like man I have to perfect this so I can do it a karaoke. I feel the
Starting point is 00:02:33 exact same way and I've watched like on YouTube there's lyrics that you know basically and it's just impossible big boy what you do it's his vocal delivery because he's not fast but the way he's clipping sounds fast. Sounds fast, yeah. Because you can understand, it's not like a, what was it, Twista? Yeah. It was just like, brunner.
Starting point is 00:02:53 Yeah. Like, he's just, it's the like, enunciation and articulation. And I was like, oh, you're actually a master of your craft. He is, yeah. I agree. Which I am not. But it's shocking to everyone. I can't spit. I'm not a nipsy. I did do California Love last night, which I thought went over very well. Okay, sure. A little slower. A little slower. Yeah, a little slower. Also, I got to say now it's 95. And well if you do Bob's a bag, I didn't go 9. 9. the 9. And no, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, that, that, th, oh, th, th, th, th, oh, oh, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, I, I, I, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I th. I th. I th. I th. I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Ch-uh, th. Chalk, th. Chalk, th. Chalk, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not,'s over bag, I didn't go, one, nine, nine, nine. And no, oh, God, yeah, it's like, exactly. Exactly, exactly. That's like, that's the, I'll remember that, because it's slow. Yeah, one, nine, nine, nine.
Starting point is 00:03:31 Cure for cancer, cure for AIDS. Blah-blah-blah-blah-uh. Which is also us kissing sounds. So this movie. Yeah I guess we should get into it. My first note says, ooh, nudity, happy holidays because I watch this movie on Thanksgiving. Oh did you? I did. Post meal? Post meal? Post meal. Okay, okay, that's how I get closed out Thanksgiving. Sleepy, sleepy Thanksgiving. It's a long one. This is a long movie. I was shocked and I shook my fist to the heavens. Listeners! Two hours and 16 minutes.
Starting point is 00:04:15 What have you done to us? Anyway, we watched it. And the first half hour is a different movie? It's another movie? It's a very long cold open. It's like 25 minutes. Yeah. Yeah. But Ithis, like asshole backpackers go to the Yura Valley in Bhutan in 1995. Jeans were not that tight in 1995. Oh, it's true. It's true. Ever since Honeyes was wearing Sass soon? You think they should have been out there at some apple bottom jeans? And they're like disrespecting the prayer wheels as th, it th, it the prayer, the prayer, the prayer, it, the prayer, the prayer, the the their their their their their their their their their their their their their their tha, their tha, thi thi-s, thi, thi, thiolk, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, thi-s, thi-s, thi-s, thi-s, thi-s, thi-s, thi-s, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their their thi-s-s, they should have been out there at some apple bottom jeans? And they're like disrespecting the prayer wheels as they walk by them at a temple? White people just stay home. You don't have to tou to toub to toub the bridge. You don't have to toub to the bridge. Yeah, I just don't have to toub the other side of the bridge they get to? Would you walk across that bridge? I have to tell you, I live on this side of the bridge.
Starting point is 00:05:05 I don't live on the other side of the bridge. There's nothing on the other side of that bridge for you. No, no, no, no, no. I think as a chubbyman, it's just like, I'm the one taking thatir lives. That bridge is coming down. I mean, it's terrifying. There's no way. Yeah. I watched a video of like people spanning one of those bridges once where they're just like throwing ropes across and then someone ties it off on the other side and they walk across on the rope. No thank you. I'm just like, no, I'm good. Thank you so much. I don't need whatever's over there. Right. You guys can have have their their th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi the their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. the. tooooooooooooooooooooooooooo today. today. the. the. the. th so much though. Starting point is 00:05:46 And that's day one. Day one. This, yes, this has a very ring, ring vibe to it, yeah. And there's a storm coming in. These people seem stunned that it's cold and I thought like, weren't you planning to camp? Yeah. I mean, there's there's they's they's they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're they're they're they're. they're. they're. they're they're. they're. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. th. th. th. th. they're, th. they're, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. they're, th. they're, the. they're, they're, they're, 't you planning to camp? Yeah. Like, yeah, I don't know. I mean, they're similar, they're what, in like the Himalayas? Yeah. Yeah, they don't seem prepped for this situation. I guess maybe that's just white people, huh? It isn't, they're like a people who are their entire, uh, their jobs are to make sure you don't die up on these mou. Ha, they're th th th th th th th th th th th th th they they they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they they they they they they they they they they they they they they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're to to to their their th. I th. th. they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're to make sure you don't die up on these mountains. Hire one of those folks, yeah. Not Greg here. Oh, their names are so generic white guy names. Greg and Paul.
Starting point is 00:06:36 Yeah. They didn't say Greg's name for a while and I was like, I'm just gonna start calling him Aaron. That seems right. Apparently he's also, he and his in-movie girlfriend were in a Netflix production about the French and Indian War, according to Rob. I was going to say, did Rob see that? Later when they, when our main character shows up, James La Sombra, apparently he's in a war show too. And then I realize that war shows are to rob
Starting point is 00:07:08 as British crime shows are to me with recognizing people. Where I'm like, that's Steve from line of duty. Are you talking about the sexiest man in England? Oh my god. Put him in your pocket. Speaking of people I find very attractive. Like Steve from line of duty. The woman who played Ruthie, Virginia Cull. She is Paul's partner in this. She is in the TV show that's on Shutter Nosforatu, which is based on a Joe Hill novel. She plays the mother of one of the characters.
Starting point is 00:07:40 I just find her very attractive. Oh good, how is that show? It's fine. Yeah, it's very silly. It's about a, good. How is that show? It's fine. Okay. Yeah, it's very silly. It's about a man who kidnaps children and takes them to Christmas land. Oh, God. Yeah, yeah, I mean, it's scary.
Starting point is 00:07:52 It's a scary show. It's for scary. It's on the shutters. It's on the shutters. It is Nause 4-A-2. I don't know if I like it or not. I don't know. I don't. I'm trying to decide if it's come all full circle back to being good.
Starting point is 00:08:13 Like it's so bad it's good, but I think it's just not quite there. No. Like if you met somebody in Saul that they're, I don't know, Pontiac Lamont's for a told like, thi, like, like, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I'm, I'm, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't know, I don't know, I don't, I don't, I don't know, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't know, I don't know. tha, I don't know. tha, I don't know. tha, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know just waiting people like, hmm. I don't know. Honestly I don't know. You might have good weed. Yeah. But you're definitely smoking a clove right now. Yeah, definitely smoking a clove. So Paul hears a noise. That draws him, what's that? A whistling? That draws him away and he falls into a crevass. Yeah. Which are a big danger in the mountains. I would assume. You gotta watch out for crevasses.
Starting point is 00:08:48 I will never know so. Oh yeah, no, no, no. I'm not a person who looks at a mountain goes, I must. Yeah. I think, oh, I'd like a jigsaw puzzle of that. I love when Paul, or Greg slash Aaron goes down there, and we see the like totem thing. That is cool as shit looking.
Starting point is 00:09:12 It is cool as shit. Was the skull giant or was it just being shot at a weird angle? Because either way it looked great. I think it was shot at a weird angle, but then like the hands that are set into like praying in front of it have like 20 fingers on each hand? And it felt like, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th the th th the the th the the the th th th th th th th th the the the the the the the the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th th th th th th th th thi thi the the the the theat theat theat theat toeat theat theat theat theat theat the the the the the the the the hands that are set into like praying in front of it have like 20 fingers on each hand. And it felt like in the beginning of alien when you see that like elephant man sitting on the gun thing, the navigator or whatever, and you're just like trying to piece together what it is.
Starting point is 00:09:38 Yeah, you can't quite tell what you're looking at. Yeah, and I really liked that aspect of it. Yeah, and Paul is just sitting there in front of it. It says, if you touch me, you die. Yeah. And Greg's like, no, I'm going to tou tou tou. I'm going to try to drag you out of here. And Paul goes boneless, like a child that you've just had boneless Greg, it's the, Paul, it's the best way to... Yeah. I mean, there's just more meat.
Starting point is 00:10:10 Less work. So they go and they stay at a house for a while. It's just like, did these people go on vacation? Who lives there? I don't know. Well, we saw at the beginning as they're walking up the mountain, like a bunche the tha tha tha tha tha tha tha tha tha tha.., tha. tha. tha. tha, tha, tha, tha, tha, tha, tha, it, it, it, it's tha, it's tha, that, that, it's tha, it's, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it's, it. tha, it's tha, it's tha, it's, tha, tha, tha, tha, tha, tha, tha, tha, tha, tha, tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha I don't know. Well we saw... There was stuff there. We saw at the beginning as they're walking up the mountain, like a bunch of monks were coming down the mountain. Oh, that's true. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:31 So maybe they live there? I guess. They like just, they get, they treat this home like it's their own. And they sleep in different rooms. Why would if they in the same room first of all because if somebody comes home What if you you know you're on vacation? What if you want to get amorous with your partner? Well one of them is comatose. I really wanted someone to go oh no Paul he's empty man man. Man. Man. Oh, no, that does not happen. No, that does not happen. But Ruthie does find, this is a gross thing to say, she finds Paul's bone whistle.
Starting point is 00:11:13 And blows it. It blows his bone whistle. Wow. Good job, movie. I don't know if the first time I find some like ancient looking obviously carved from a human thigh bone whistle, my first inclination is, let me give a little toot. A little tute. A little tute on that. Yeah, I think you're more thoughtful than most people.
Starting point is 00:11:34 Sure. I think a lot of people would go for it. I'm also not pushing the narrative of a film. What if they just picked it up up up up up up up up up up up up up up up up up up up up up up up up up up up, their their their their their their their their their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, thi, thi, thi, I, I, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, th. thi, th. th. th. their, their, their, their, their, I, I, I, I, their, I, I, I, I, I, I, th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. tooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. I, th. I's true. What if they just picked it up and then put it back down and enjoy their camping trip? And then she like passes out? Yes. And wakes up to the sound of footsteps? Yes. And there's someone outside, but then there's no one outside. Right, it ends up being Greg. There's like a dark figure in a snowstorm, which is a very cool image. Yeah, and it's like a dark the thi snow th snow th snow th snow th snow th snow th snow th snow th snow th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi tho tho thi thi thi tho their their their their tho- tho- thoes thoes thi thi thi thi thi thi th out th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th their thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi their thi their their their thi their thi thi their thi thi thi thi thi thi th like they have on wrappings that are blowing counter to the wind, which is good. Very, very good spookery. It's good spookery, yeah. And it starts running at the door, so she runs in and locks it, and then when she opens it, it's Greg. Yeah. Who's being a total dick about, let me in, it's freezing. And it's like, well, this is mean? Yeah. The whole thing makes me very angry.
Starting point is 00:12:26 Did you like the scene of when Ruthie is asleep and Paul is laying on top of her and whispering in her ear? No. No, okay. That whispering sound really makes me uncomfortable. Yeah, for sure. Yeah. But it's fucked.
Starting point is 00:12:39 It's very fucked and I liked it, but I don't like it. Yeah. Well, I was thinking about something. And I realized that I might be off, but you know how we call sitting cross-legged criss-cross apples now? We sure do. Why do we just call it the lotus position? I don't know. There's that just like a very specific, like, has a context to it, that we shouldn't just bring on cool whip or something like that.
Starting point is 00:13:11 Pretty sure you just started doing southern grammar again. Yeah, hot shit. Why would you be fucking lesbian twins though, Nelly? That doesn't make any sense. There are at least two roadblocks at that happening. Why would you be fucking lesbian twins though, Nelly? That doesn't make any sense. There are at least two roadblocks to that happening. Nelly, no. I assume your first name, your full name is Nelson. It's Cornelius.
Starting point is 00:13:37 Cornelius. Oh man, that's a good name. It isn't it? Yeah. And then to be like, I'll call myself Nelly. So yes, Paul has whispered in Ruthie's ear, and then he disappears. They wake up and he's gone. And Greg is being such a dick to him about his depression or something? Your I'm so special shit.
Starting point is 00:13:59 I was like, please, just kill Greg and get this over with. I mean, this movie is a fine argument for like, don't take long trips with in couples. Just do it, just do your, you the couple, go out and do your thing. Yeah. Or get like several couples so you can not have to, right? So you can shift the blame around. Right, right. I always like to shift blame around. the murders everybody and thi th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, to to to to to to to, to, to, to, to to to to to to to to thi, thi, thi, thi, their thi, in, their th. In, in, th. In, th. In, th. In, th. In, th. In, th. In, th. If, just, th. If, the, thi, just, thi, thi, just, thi, toge, toge, togu. Please, just, togu. Please, just, just, just, just, to, just, just, to, just, just, just, just, to just, to just, to just, toge, to shift blame around, spread it amongst everyone.
Starting point is 00:14:25 And then Ruthie murders everybody and walks backwards off a cliff. Yeah. Except for Greg. Greg is the one left standing, right? Paul. Paul is the one left standing. Oh, I thought it was Greg. No, the guy who's...
Starting point is 00:14:39 I like when she kills the other woman, the other woman gives her like a what the fuck look. I hope I get the chance to do that upon my death. I hope I die with that look on my face. Just being like, how fucking dare you? Oh no you did. Yeah, that's all I hope to die. And then that's it. It cuts to another movie. And then we get the title card for Empty Man. Yeah, and then you the the the the the the the the the the thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's tie tie te te te. te. te. te. te. te. te. to. that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's the title card for Empty Man. Yeah, and then you were like, fuck, haven't I been watching this a while? Oh, you just started. And the Empty Man has no pee at it, just like the ool. Oh, there's no pee in our pool. Let's keep it that way.
Starting point is 00:15:14 Oh, I get it. Oh, come on. It's a bit toes. on my grandparents' pool when I was a child. Wow. So pooped in it. There's no oob. Ah, I maintain the peeing in the pools of victimless crime. I've been in pools with you so much. Yeah, well, and you didn't know you were being crimed. See, that's why it's a victimless crime.
Starting point is 00:15:41 It's only a crime if you know it's that you're being crimed. Anyway. So now we're whisked off to Webster Mills, Missouri. In modern times. Yeah, 2018. 2018. This guy's smoking mid-run. Which was kind of a funny shift of tone where we've just had this like bizarre cold open and then like a title card and then just this like a ti-tritie-cart and then just th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, the th, the th, the th, the th, the the the the the the the they it's they it's th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, the the the the the the they it's they it's they it's they it's they it's they it's they it's they it's they it's they it's they it's the-it, the-it, the-it, the-in, the-in, the-in, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, the thi, they, they, their-tha, tone where we've just had this like bizarre cold open and then like a title card and then just this like weirdly comedic scene. Yeah, for sure. Yeah. He seems troubled. Yeah, there's a, there's some like whispering of where were you? Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:23 Yeah. He eats a full lemon wedge. Does you? Yeah, yeah. He eats a full lemon wedge. Does he? Yeah, I missed that. He's somebody's eating a lemon wedge. White, weird. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And then he is sitting with his neighbor, Amanda, who I really couldn't tell if she was a child. Sure. I don't know why. It's if she was a child. Sure.
Starting point is 00:16:45 I don't know why. It's because she had a very mature haircut. Well, I don't know. It's like the same haircut that I had in preschool in the mid-80s after my uncle Dan went to barber school. You know what I mean? Oh, don't skip over the fact that he used a gift certificate to go get his birthday gift certificate to go get his birthday his dinner and it's a birthday gift
Starting point is 00:17:06 certificate so the people that work at the place come out and sing Happy Birthday Dear customer it's rough that's a rough look if that's not a condemnation of capitalism in 2018 I don't know what it can't even take the time to ask you your name oh oh man yeah so and a man yeah so and a to the time to ask you your name. Oh, oh. Oh, man. Yeah, so, and Amanda's hitting it with some like power of positive thinking bullshit, I just couldn't hear her talk. As if it was offensive to your ear or she was in a register that was just like outside of you being able to hear?
Starting point is 00:17:43 I think it's when people talk about things like that it becomes a register that I'm unable to hear. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's like you're talking about, I don't know, you might be talking about crystals, I'm not sure, I'm just out, I'm out. Yeah, yeah, for sure. Yeah, that's for tho, time. I don't know, I don't care, I'm moving on. Yeah. Yeah. I'm into dumb stuff you don't like to. Yeah, for sure. Yeah. I just got four zines about monolithic stones in England. So I got my own weird things. Competing zines. No, no, they're the same, it's multiple issues. I see. I see, I see. I thought, wow, how can four different people be putting out these zi. I. I. I. I. I. I. I, th. I, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. th. th. th. th. I've, have, have, theed, have th. Yeah, have th. Yeah, have th. Yeah, have th. Yeah, have th. Yeah, have th. Yeah, have, have, have th. Yeah, have th. Yeah, have. Yeah, have. Yeah, have. Yeah, have. Yeah, th. th. th. t. t. the. the. the. the. the. the. I the. I the. I've, have t. I've t. I've to. I've, to. I've, to. I've, to. I've to. I've to. I just to. I just to. I've to. I've zines. I don't know I was looking at a zine that's all about mushrooms the other day and I was like, we need to learn more about
Starting point is 00:18:27 mushrooms. I have a lot of mushroom books if you'd like to ever look through them. My grandfather was a forager and I got them all upon his death. They're fascinating. Yeah, they're fun. They're fun. No, I don't say it. No, it, empty man. Empty man. His pool is filthy. Didn't notice that either. Because whenever I see a pool, I'm like, oh, I would have swi in that, but this was filthy. Yeah. And Allison and Henry have died, we learned. She says it so fast.
Starting point is 00:18:59 I forgot about it until later in the movie. Yeah, but then it makes sense because she's, when we learn the twist, the twisty twist, that she's filling him with information. Oh, she's just piling it in real fast, yeah. Exactly. Yeah. I don't know. I just have some issues here. Just have some issues here.
Starting point is 00:19:21 So turns out Amanda's 18. Yes. Which is both a child and an adult, I guess. Yeah. So she goes missing. She does, and what's written on her mirror? The empty man made me do it. It's written in blood. Which then I was like, oh fuck, this is going to be terrible. It just, just struck me wrong.
Starting point is 00:19:46 But it turns out I was wrong. I don't know actually. It wasn't terrible for that reason. And she's got a poster on her wall that is completely black? Yeah. With a small... It's none more black. At first I really thought it was a spinal tap reference.
Starting point is 00:20:03 It was like the none more black album art. Go on. With a small, printed in black, th. th. I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was th. It was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was th. It was th. It was, I was, I was, it was, it was, it was, it was, it was, it was, it was, it was, it was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was I was, I was I was th. It th. It th. It th. It th. It th. It th. It th. It th tap reference. It was like the non more black album art Go on with a small printed in black on the poster Buddha. Yeah, like sitting in the corner of this all black field It's very yeah, it was very ominous very ominous. Yeah, and she is this when he finds the note in her room the Tulpa? Yes, the Pontifix Institute? Pontifex Institute, mm-hmm which nothing comes up when he Googles it which is, which is, which is, which is, which is, which is, which is, which is, which is, which is, th is, th is, the th is, th is just, the th is just, th, the th, thi, thi, the thi, the thi, the thi, thi, thi, thi, the, thi, the thi, thi, with a the, with a the, with a the, with a the, with a the, with, with, with, with, with, with, with, with, with, with, with, with, with, with, with, with, with, with, with, the, the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the small, the small, the small, the small, the small, the small, the small, the small, the small, the small, the small, her room, the Tulpa? Yes, the Pontifex Institute? Pontifex Institute. Which nothing comes up when he Googles it, which is just fucking impossible. I hate when people Google things in movies and it's like no search results. I did appreciate that they just cut off the top of Google
Starting point is 00:20:37 so you could see the bottom. So it wasn't like, he wasn't using like net search. Yeah, look for it.com. And we find out that he used to be a cop in St. Louis. Right, right. And the cops say, do you have any pets as they're leaving the house? Right, because they think it may not be human blood. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Also there's a misfits poster in this girls room? Yeah. I guess a ton of screen time. So does her law dispute poster. They're a band. I, like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like. I, like like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, the the their, their their their their their their th. their their their th. their th. th. th. th. th. th. their their their their their their their their their their their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their their. their their their their their their th. th. th. th. th. th. th. to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to their their their the? Yeah. That gets a ton of screen times. So does her La Dispute poster? What is a law dispute? They're a band. I like Rob played with him in a basement in Chesterfield like years ago, yeah. That's neat. So I guess they're popular. So like Rob's basically in this movie? Rob's basically in this French and Indian War people. Laud dispute and whatever war program that guy was in. So I have a question for you.
Starting point is 00:21:27 What's the answer to he's here, he's there, he's every fucking where? What's the answer? Yeah, I don't know. It's Roy Kent. What are we talking about? This is all over my head. At some point, he finds something that says he's here, he diary. He says he's here, he's there, he's everywhere. Talking about the empty man. Right. But it's Roy Kent from Ted Lassow. Oh,
Starting point is 00:21:51 I haven't seen Ted Lasso. What? I don't have an Apple TV. You have to have an Apple TV, right? No, you just have to have the Apple TV app. I have too many streaming. Sure, sure. Oh, I would hope it you would enjoy the Roy catch joke. No, I think I would really like that show, though. I just have to figure out. Oh, I think you'd love it. Yeah, for sure. So our detective, what is his name? James Lassombra.
Starting point is 00:22:14 Of course it is. Which I thought maybe that like Sleepwalker. Yeah. But I mean also, could we talk about the twist real quick? Just so we can get it out of the way. I don't know, if you're not going to watch this movie. Well, you wouldn't be listening because you know we spoil everything. So he is like a, actually, these emo teens who are in a cult conjured him him by thinking about him enough and then they basically Set him on this trajectory, right? He's existed for three days for three days Which there's I have so many problems with this sure but it's basically to make him a conduit for their religion
Starting point is 00:23:03 Right right right right? Ruffly because their religion. Right, right, right. Roughly. Because their current conduit, who, as we learn, is Greg. Is Paul? Is Paul. Is Aaron. If you hadn't named him Aaron, I think you'd be having an easier time. Fuck, I'm an idiot. No, you're great.
Starting point is 00:23:20 He's fading. So they make one out of their thoughts, because thoughts become flesh. Right. And this is why I was saying that this movie has a real kill list vibe, because it turns out everyone's in on it but the person we've been following through the entire movie. Right. And it's roughly done, it's very roughly done, I felt. Like, there's a lot th a lot a lot a lot a lot a lot a lot a lot a lot a lot a lot tha tha thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. tho thoomatoleto thoing tho thathing. tho tho tho tho tho thoom. thoom. thoom. thoom. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. tho. tho. tho tho tho thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the the th. the the th. the th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. the the the. the the. the. the the the. the. the. the. the. th. th... See that's the thing. I feel like I'm going to call this the horror movie handwave which is with in horror traditionally there are these things that happen and you're just like yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah and
Starting point is 00:24:15 you move on. But with movies like this and with Kill List and you know others that it's inviting you to think more about it and I don't know whether to like bother I guess because it's it's all the the the the the the th the th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. I th. I th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi thi thi thi thi thi thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi the thi thi theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee the th. And I don't know whether to like bother, I guess. Because it's all kind of, when you think about it, it all really does kind of fall apart. Sure, sure. Yeah, it's that they're trying to set you up with that hitchhockeian thing of like letting your mind fill in the gaps. Yeah. But when your mind's trying to, you're like putting together the pieces pieces pieces pieces pieces pieces pieces pieces pieces pieces pieces pieces pieces pieces pieces pieces pieces pieces pieces pieces pieces pieces pieces pieces pieces pieces pieces pieces pieces pieces pieces the pieces pieces pieces pieces pieces pieces the pieces pieces pieces pieces pieces pieces the pieces pieces the pieces pieces the pieces the pieces the pieces the pieces the pieces the pieces the pieces the pieces they the pieces they the pieces they they they're the pieces the pieces the pieces they're they're they're the pieces they're the pieces the pieces the pieces the pieces the pieces the pieces the pieces the pieces the pieces the pieces the pieces the pieces the pieces the pieces the pieces. the pieces. the pieces. the pieces. the pieces. the pieces. the pieces. the pieces. the pieces. the pieces. the pieces pieces pieces pieces pieces pieces pieces pieces pieces pieces pieces pieces pieces pieces pieces pieces pieces pieces pieces pieces pieces pieces pieces the pieces. They the pieces. They the pieces they they they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're their their their their their the pieces.'re like putting together the pieces they already gave you and they're not fitting. Different puzzles somehow. Like here's my biggest issue with this. Yeah. Nora, Amanda's mother. Yes. We'll call her Greg. I thought her name was Aaron. She, she's in on it too? Yeah, for sure. Then why does she at the end? It's just a miss. It's just a miss for me. It's, like, it's a the, like. It's, like. It's a miss. It's a miss. It's a miss. It's a miss. It's a miss. It's a miss. It's a the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the their. their. It's their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. It's their. It's their. It's their. It's their. It's their their their their their their their the. the. the. the. their their their their their their their their their their their Then why does she at the end... It's just a miss, like, it's a miss for me because at the end he calls her on the phone, she's like, I don't know who this is.
Starting point is 00:25:13 Why is she doing that? Because she's like... Now she's pretending? I think, yes. Like just to scare him? Yes, I think now to like break him down. Because the way the way the way the way the way the way the way the way the way the way the way the way th, th, th, th, th is tho tho th is tho tho tho thi thi thi thi tho tho thoes, thoes, thathea thoes, to to to to thoes thoes thoes thoes, thoes, thoes, tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho, tho tho tho tho tho tho tho, I think now to like break him down. Because the way it reads is like, she's not in on it.
Starting point is 00:25:30 Yeah. But that he's had all these interactions with her. But it's also, I think there's also the sense of ambiguity to it that like, all this might be in his head. I guess. Like, it's that vague, where you could like play that like because when we when the twist is revealed we see him seeing himself. Yeah. Bent over double screaming despite all my rage I am still just a rat in a cage.
Starting point is 00:25:55 So I mean I think it's evident early on that he's being set up somehow. Yes. Because that kid outside smoking gives him all this information he needs to get to an abandoned camp where he finds a file with his, a red file with his name on it and it's empty. And it's empty. Which felt very like what the syndicate does to Fox Mulder to keep him on the wrong trail or whatever. Like, oh, it's smallpox vaccinations in a vaccination catalog and an underground bunker you know for all you X files with a pH out there. What I appreciate it was when he grabbed the folder and he opened it and he went oh it's empty! Man! It is a bad name it's a bad name it's a bad name for a better movie. For sure yeah yeah the name does no favors to this movie. But also a today. It's a bad name for a better movie. For sure.
Starting point is 00:26:45 For sure. Yeah, the name does no favors to this movie. But also, a lot of the stuff that's happening in this time period of meeting him to him finding out what's going on, a lot of it doesn't make any sense. And you're like, this movie's really badly written that under the rug by being like, this was written by a bunch of emo teenagers, like making this story up for him. That's why it doesn't make, like, he owns this security store, like selling personal security devices and home security systems, but he has no security at his home.
Starting point is 00:27:14 Right. That doesn't make any sense. But I guess it's because like Amanda came up with it, you know? Right, for sure. Oh, also also, also, also, also, also, also, also, also, also, also, also, also, also, also, also, also, also, also, also, also, also, also, also, also, also, also, well, also, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, that, that, that, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that's, like, like, like Yeah. Oh also, while I'm thinking about it, the actor who plays Nora is in that movie the dark and the wicked that I really love and would like to do it at some point, but can't do it right now because it's hitting a little too close to home. Okay. Yeah. Great. So we learned the story of The Em empty man from Amanda's friend DeVara. Please break this down for me.
Starting point is 00:27:49 Did I write it down? Okay, so you have to like go to a bridge and have an empty, find an empty bottle? Or can you bring a bottle? I'm unclear on that. And why is it not a bone whistle? Empty Man, you can blow what you have. Sure. Blow him if you've got them, says the empty man. You make a whistling sound after you think about the empty man and and then the first day you'll hear him. The second day you'll see him. And the third day you'll feel him.
Starting point is 00:28:26 Yeah. So it's a real like bloody merry, candy man also rings an area. Hondopi. Yeah. For you all you millennials out there. Is that what they say? I think so. Or Gen Z maybe says it. Probably. Probably. Yeah. Fucking teens though. There's this really interesting thing where the teens keep multiplying. So like she's telling the story she's like there were three of us down there or four of us down there and then we just keep getting more teens popping up on the bridge. Yeah they're like climbing through a manhole. Yeah two of them climb out under the manhole where they were doing the Lord's business down there.
Starting point is 00:29:06 Because there's a joke about you've got some on you. Yeah. And I thought that was a really, because then later on in the movie when he discovers the hanging team and then the camera pans around and it goes from like one to two to five of them hanging down there. I thought that was a really good reveal. It really is. It really, it. It really, it. It really, it. It really, it. It really, it. It really, it. It really, it. It really, it. It really, it. And the. And the, it, it, it, it really, it, it, it really, it, the, the, the, the the the the the joke, the joke, the the joke, the joke, the joke, the joke, the joke, the joke, the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the joke. the joke. the joke. the joke. the joke, the joke, the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th is, the th is, the the the is, their joke, their joke, their joke, their joke, their joke, their their joke, is their their their their their's the the the the their the camera pans around and it goes from like one to two to five of them hanging in there. I thought that was a really good reveal. It really is. It really really is. So yeah, they blow the bottle and there's a whistling sound from the other side of
Starting point is 00:29:34 the bridge. And then like a shuffling, thudding. Yeah. Which is spooky. Very spooky. I don't know if you've ever hung out on like a train trestle bridge in the middle of the night. Okay, yeah. Oh, God no. You never a lost boy.
Starting point is 00:29:48 I did wear dangly earrings. I wish you did. I got to get into that dangle-dangle. I did when I was young. Yeah, maybe a nice cross dangly cross, I'd only wear it in one year. For sure, like Barry Bonds. Yeah, yeah. Baseball man? Yeah. Really?
Starting point is 00:30:08 Yeah, no, I don't know Barry Bonds. The name is familiar here, but I was like, the all-time leader. Is he? Is he? Not in a single season, but I'm not sure about that anymore. Yeah, just known for the dangly earring. Yeah, he was a pirate for a while. Oh, okay. And then he went to the Yankees, I think.
Starting point is 00:30:28 Doesn't matter. It's, yeah. Anyway. They get real spooked on the bridge. Yeah. And the one te, I had a very like, my old roommate from college and I had figured out that we could play most of the Beverly Hills cop theme
Starting point is 00:30:52 on a series of like six bottles, if we got them to the right levels. It wasn't perfect, but it was good. So every time people blew in a bottle, I would just be like, boop, booop, boo, boo, boo, boo, boo, boo, I th, I th, I th, I th, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, th, I, that, th, that, that, that, that, that, that, I th, I that, that, that, that, I that, I that, I that, I that, I that, I that, I had that, I that, I had that, I that, I that, I that, I that, I that, I that, I that, I that, I that, I that, I that, I that, I that, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, op, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, oh, I can't get that one. Yeah, yeah, you have to use that kind of like, it's a little off key, you know? Every Hancock's rolling in his not yet in grave. So then we get like, this part, this part takes forever the investigating the missing kids. For sure. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:31:28 Um. And like he goes to see one of the, so all the teens are missing at this point. He goes to see one of the missing teens families and the dad just closes the door in his face. Yeah. And I thought like if your kid was missing, would you really just close the door in this guy's tho mean, he's not anybody, he's not like, hi, I'm the police or I'm a detective. Right, but if your kid is missing and someone comes asking for them that you don't know, I guess so, and you're like, what are you doing here? Who are you? What do you know about my child? You know? You're gonna, if your kids missing, you're gonna figure out like any possible, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, th.... th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi, if, if thi, if thi, if thi, if thi, if thi, if the kid, if thi, thi, thi, th. If their their kid is their their their kid, their their their their their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their their their their their their their their their their kid, their kid, their kid, their kid, their kid, their kid is their kid is missing, thi. If thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. If thi. thi. If thi. If thi. But I guess again that's this the whole story is being written by Emo Teens. He gets into one of the houses though the
Starting point is 00:32:10 Schwartz home I have written down I don't know why. Because Schwartz was spelled wrong. There's no C. I thought was odd. Maybe there's a that's a real spelling of it but I've never seen it. I like that the kid had a no idiots allowed, like it's Bill Maher is in here. And that kid had the same black poster in their room. Right. And another thing for the Pontifix Institute. It's like, yes, you got this clue earlier.
Starting point is 00:32:37 Please take your call of Gatholu group to the Pontifax Institute. Like the Game Master is like, maybe you missed this, I'll give it to you again. But no, he goes to the bridge. Blows in the bottle like a fucking guy. Yeah, he does. Uh-huh. Well, that's where I have the note. James does the blowjobbing on the bridge. Oh, come on. And he hears the whistling and goes under the bridge and that's where he finds the five kids hanging.
Starting point is 00:33:06 That's a lot. Yes. Yeah. It's very good. It's a lot. Yeah, because I had, he finds a kid hanging. Oh, three of them actually. Oh, shit, five.
Starting point is 00:33:14 But I really, like, that was like, that gave it this like nightmare quality of the people just kept opening and opening. Yeah. And he gets a nosebleed from it because it's so spooky. Is that what happens? I guess so. I mean you just get a nosebleed and I just didn't know why. I guess empty man gives you a noseble. Yeah, maybe the- like dry air and sinuses and what not. The kids didn't imagine a coagulant into his blood. They were like, I the, like, like, like, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, like, I, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, that, like, like, that, that, that, is, is, is that, is that, is that, is, is that, is, is that, is, is, is, is, is, is that, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is that, is that, is that, is that, is that, is that, is that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, th. th. th. th. thi, thi, is thi, is thi, thi, thi, is that, is that, is that, is that, is that, is that, is that, is that, is that, is that we forgot to make him clot. And then like, I
Starting point is 00:33:48 don't know here, then there's this scene of DeVara, who was not one of the teens hanging under the bridge. Right, and neither is Amanda. Right, right, right. It's just the other sort of nameless, faceless kids. Right. She's in like a bathroom somewhere in a fancy place? Yes. Yeah. And get stabbed to death with scissors? Right. But then we see that she's stabbing herself. Yes. But he's not there. So what does it? You know what I mean? When you look to thi. that's what I'm saying? Yeah, for sure. I don't want it to fall apart when I think about it. Don't give me a movie and ask me to think to to to to to to to to to to to th to th th th th th th th th th th th th think about it think about it think about it to think about it to think about it to think about it to think about tho and thin thi thi and then thin thin and then thi and then thi and then thi and then thi and then thi and then thi and their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their thi thi thin thin thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi. thi. thi. thi. tha. tha. tha. tha. thoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. And the.to do? See that's what I'm saying? Yeah, for sure. I don't want it to fall apart when I think about it. Don't give me a movie and ask me to think about it and then make it fall apart. That's all, okay. But then like that
Starting point is 00:34:30 kind of like, I guess that for me fed into like is this all in their heads thing? I guess. I guess. Because they're doing this to th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi's thi's thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi th. th. th. th. th. thi thi thi thi that that that that that that that that to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to tha. to tha. that thi. pty man, she was just trying to relax in that sauna. And then there's some story about a mother feeding a baby to a pack of dogs? A pack of stray dogs? And I thought, really? And this like suburban St. Louis neighborhood that seems pretty nice. Yeah. Yeah. A pack of stray dogs? Are there? of stray dogs here? Anywhere? I would imagine. Where?
Starting point is 00:35:07 You know, around? I've never seen a pack of stray dogs in my life. I don't know. I mean, in like residential America. Right, yeah. And then there's a candlelight vigil that he sees for Devara. Yeah. And Nora brings him dinner. I was like, please don't try to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the to the to the th. Where to the th. Where th. Where th. Where th. Where th. Where th. Where th. Where th. Where th. Where th. Where th. Where th. Where the. Where the, where? Where, where? Where, where? Where, where? I was like, please don't try to bone this sad, confused lady. It felt gross. But she was trying to bone him. Yeah,
Starting point is 00:35:33 that's the ch- that's the twist of the movie. Can I stay the night? Oh, that's right, boundaries. Like, yes, movie. We understand. They used to be in a relationship. We get it. This is where I wrote I the the they they they they they they the they they th. We th. We th. We th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. This is where I wrote, there are a lot of very slow scenes in this very long movie, because the interaction between them is, it's really, it's really built up. For sure. It's everything that was missing from Twilight really is people having a relationship. How dare you bring that movie back up again? Because it's ruining our lives. Well now I think everybody's got a toxic relationship in this. Yeah, I know. Well, you are a Cretan, according to our reviews, but I'm also a Cretan too, so it's fine.
Starting point is 00:36:12 I just want to embrace it, like just get Cretan t-shirts. I think we really should. So yeah, he tries to Google Pond Effects and gets nothing. Yeah. Which is crazy because they have really big signs out front, so at least street views picking that up. Sure. Someone's got to have tagged it on Instagram. Yeah, right, exactly. I mean, you're not recruiting all these teens without an internet presence.
Starting point is 00:36:34 Exactly. Exactly. But it's being run by Stephen Root. What movie doesn't get better by Stephen. the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the??. the?. the? th. to? Yeah. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. to. to. to. to. to. t. ta. ta......... up in things. Yes. Love that guy. I remember the first time I saw Stephen Root, a Stephen Root appearance, was in an episode of Nightcourt. Oh no shit. Yeah, so that would have been in the fucking 80s. Yeah. And I don't remember him being young then. No. See my first Stephen Root is probably off a space of Oh sure and Waddle just like the finest character ever written It's so good love him. Oh man. Oh he's so fucking funny. But he's just somebody like like when every like when he shows up in get out you're like yeah
Starting point is 00:37:16 Stephen fucking Root is here yeah he's these the best he's the best um he's giving a speech about the Noah's fear I yeah I just's the best. He's giving a speech about... Oh, the Noah's Sphere? Yeah, I just... All this is so over my head. It's such like... Cultie, quasi-psychological, mumbo-jumbo. But like, believable in that aspect of it because you've ever heard like like real like wackadoo cults and I'm sure you have as a as a true crime yeah yeah they always have like just these nonsensical like even down to like goop shit like
Starting point is 00:37:56 yeah yeah yeah they talk in these like esoteric terms it's all it's all jargon yeah yeah yeah yeah but also he talks openly about the empty man and I thought, wow, really not hiding their association with these crimes. Right. Because people have been writing the empty man made me do it on everything. Yeah. Right. So strange, but then again, teens, teens brains. Yeah. Right. But he also does the cool thing that I always enjoy, which is, hey, next time you come around, don't make it such a long time between visits. Yeah, or stay, I'm glad you stayed longer this time. Yeah, whatever he says, yeah, which is just like, the guy's like, I've never been here before. Yeah. Ooh, that's good spookery. Oh, that's good spookery. storyline either does it? That he's been there before? Because he hasn't existed before. Yeah. It's just, I guess it's just to confuse him? But is it like, I guess
Starting point is 00:38:48 that my confusion also lies in like, did the teens actually create him or did they just kind of like kidnap him and reprogram him or like? No, they said they created him because they have that thing about like thoughts. Oh,that's right. Because I remember thinking I've made flesh and that's not how it happens. Yeah. You got to get raw-dogged if you want to make flesh. Thanks so much for listening to another episode. I kind of, you're the one who said blew the bone whistle, sir. I did say he was blow-jopping on the bridge. Yep. It's a very cool building that the Pontefax Institute is in. Yeah. He goes to the basement and then the basement's got a basement. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:39:38 Yeah. Where there's like a meeting going on that they're talking about the empty man. Yeah, it's in a dark room and there's just a spotlight on them. He's like creeping around and then he hears someone else creeping around. Yeah. That they begin to talk to. Right. But then who is it, Alan?
Starting point is 00:39:55 It's him. It's him? How though? If you could see the Empty Man. Rollins. Oh, is Henry Rollins the empty man? He certainly doesn't think so. We need to do that, fucking, uh, that Henry Rollins' horror movie where he's playing cane. Oh, the biblical figure of Kane.
Starting point is 00:40:19 I'll think about it. We should do a double shot of one of the new dancing movie comes out of Rollins and dancing. Why. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh?? Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh? Oh. Oh? Oh. Oh? Oh. Oh? Oh? Oh. Oh? Oh. Oh? Oh? Oh, oh? Oh, oh? Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh. Oh? Oh. Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh. Oh. Oh? Oh. Oh. Oh? Oh. Oh. Oh? Oh. Oh? Oh. Oh? Oh. Oh. Oh? Oh. Oh? Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh? Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh? Oh. Oh. Oh, I I I I I the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the of the new dancing movie comes out of Rawlinton dancing. Why do you hate me? Don't I love you and I want to laugh at them. Okay fine. So we meet this the Steve from stranger things rip off. Oh yeah and he's outside smoking and gives our guy, James, some information about an abandoned camp, abandoned summer camp, where they're keeping Amanda allegedly because they have big plans for her. Yep. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:54 I do love an abandoned camp. For sure. Very spooky. Yeah. And what does he see? He finds the folder with his name and nothing in it, it's empty. Man. And then he's, like, he goes in in daylight and then comes out and it's pitch black outside.
Starting point is 00:41:11 Right. So like, there's this like loss of time thing that's going on? Well, he also watches that video, right? Oh, that's right. The manifestation video. Where the guy is painting his own outline in blood? Yes. painting his own outline in blood, yes. Which then he turns around and is on the wall behind him. Yes.
Starting point is 00:41:26 That was good too. Yeah, yeah. That's, but that also feels very ring, like the ring, for sure. Yeah. And then I don't know why, but I wrote, oh no, you taped over hot, that's part due.
Starting point is 00:41:36 So, that must have been. Is that the one where her mole falls off and she finds out of the ground? Is it Valeria Golino? Yeah. So he goes outside and there's this bridge that he walks across because there's the thing about a bridge and the empty man. Right. But I'm not sure why. You know, they're empty on the bottom. And, okay, tips to the movie. And then he sees this like cult meeting around a giant bonfire. Yes, they're all wearing the like dark robes that we've seen earlier in the movie, yeah. Which I was like, oh, this is a hundred percent kill list. Now we have just entered into kill list.
Starting point is 00:42:24 I also thought, oh, a midsummer kind of thing. Yeah, for sure. And I love when the crowd starts moving towards him. And they're like murmurating? Yes. They're like just moving as a unit. And when he takes a step back, they all take a unified step forward. I thou tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho- I that, I that, I tho- tho- tho- tho- tho- tho- tho- tho- tho- tho- tho- tho- tho- tho- tho-a, tho-a, tho-a, tho-a, tho-a, tho. Yeah, tho. Yeah, tho. Yeah, th. Yeah, tho. Yeah, tho. Yeah, tho, thi thi. Yeah, thi. Yeah, thi. Yeah, thi. And thoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. And tha, tha, th forward. I thought that was great. Yes, yeah, yeah. He's so brave I'd be shitting myself. And the bonfire goes out. Yes, he like looks away and looks back and the bonfires
Starting point is 00:42:53 out, which is not a thing you can do. No? No. He gets away. Don't worry about it. Right. Well, he goes to Nora's house where she has a landline that she answers. And then I thought teens did not conjure that idea that idea that idea that idea that idea that idea that idea that idea that idea that idea that idea that idea that idea that idea that idea that idea that idea that idea that idea that idea that idea that idea thatline that she answers and then I thought teens did not conjure that idea. You know what I mean? They were like, what is that? What is that? What's happening? Yeah, I don't even know. Yeah. Your mom got a telegram? What the fuck is that? Well, they get a weird call? I don't remember what the weird call? Same. Just have a note note thine thine thine thine thine thine thine thine thine thine thine thine thine thine th th th th th th th th th thine th th thine th thine thine thine thin thin thin thoen thin thin thin' thin' tho thin' tho tho tho thin thin' thin' thin' thin' thin' thin' thin' thin' thin' thin' thin' thin' thin' th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th thin' thin thin thin. thin. I thin. I thin. I the to the an to the an toe an te an te an te an te an te an te an teannn' thin. the an th. I don't remember what the weird call said. Just have a note that says they get a weird call.
Starting point is 00:43:27 I was so distracted by the fact that she had a landline that she actually answers. And he makes Nora follow him to a hotel? I was like, take one car, you dim wits. But I guess he was just going to leave her there. And this is where I have the note, there's no tha thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi, that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. the. the. the. that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's where I have the note there's no way she isn't setting him up. Right. You know, this is so obvious. Yeah. And then my next note says, I ate too much popcorn and now my lips hurt. That happens to you? Yeah, my lips got too salty in her so. Oh, jeez. The movie butter popcorn for Trader Doe's is quite delicious. I didn't know. I'll look into it. So he, he the the he he he he hea, he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he th. He th. He th. He th. th is th. th. th is th. Yeah, he thi, that is that is that is th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I didn't know. I'll look into it. So he goes back to his house, I think, right? Yeah, yeah, where the empty man is in his house? Oh right, the empty man is in his house. the empty man is in his house. And then the tebaer from the camp is just sitting on his front porch. Right, which is like a mangled-assed-moldy tidy bear. Yeah. That was like a mankled-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-s. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th-s. th-s. th-s. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That's-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-s. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That's-that's that's that's the-that's yeah. Then the next time we see the petty barrits in his backseat. Yeah. I wish it was buckled in. And then we
Starting point is 00:44:28 learn that he's off his meds at some point like there's some I have a note that says off his meds question mark. Yeah, he like pooled had we've seen him taking his meds and then he like pulls the bottle out looks at it and thi. Right, right. I didn't look up what that is actually. I don't know, never mind. And then we get the day three, and he's wearing his wedding ring again as well. Oh yeah. And this is where I have the note on day three, he's day drinking and following the cool cat kid. Yeah. Everyone in St. Louis is a smoker also. Yeah, for sure.
Starting point is 00:45:02 So he follows the kids to a hospital. He does th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, that, th, the, that, the, that, that, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, the the the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, the, the, the the theeean, thean, thean, thean, thean, thean, thean, thean, theeee-a, the follows the kids to a hospital. He does a nice move for an old guy catching the door to like, like, he hops up the steps. Yeah, yeah, yeah, vaulting the steps and catching the door. Yeah. Which is weird because you're allowed to just walk into a hospital, but okay. He's got to follow these cool kids. Yeah, he follows the cool kids. And then it becomes sort of that cult movie, the th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi's thi thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii thii thi thi thi thi, a cool kids, yeah. And then it becomes sort of that cult movie in a hospital, the Triangle movie, you know what I'm talking about? I don't remember what it's called. Oh, um, um, people are screaming at their headphones. It will always be the Triangle movie to me. Yeah, I can't remember what it's called. Yeah, it's fine. Well, they had those really cool cultists that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's cool cool cool cool cool cool cool cool cool cool cool cool cool cool cool cool cool cool cool cool cool cool that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's the the the that's that's that's that's that's that's that's what it's what it's what it's what it's what it's what it's what it's what it's what it's what it's what it's what it's what it's what it's what it's what the the the the the their the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th th th th th. I th. I's called thus c. I's called the c. I's called thus c. I's called thus cu. I's called thus. I's called thus. I's called thus. I's called tho. I was tho. I tho. I, yeah. And then it was just like, hell, razor in a hospital. Hospital razor. This is where I haven't noticed, oh shit, it was bye-by-man, wasn't it? Fuck, that was bad. Our memories are terrible. It took me this long to remember. We're like, you're like
Starting point is 00:45:57 two hours and five minutes into this. So he sees the kids like going prostrate in front of this bed, where they're like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, they, they, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th. Uh, th. Uh, this is is is this is th. Uh, this is is, th. Uh, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, they, they, they, they, they, their, their, th. Uh, thi, thi, thi, this is this is this is this is this is this is this is this is this is this is this is this is this is this is this is this is this is this is this is this is this prostrate in front of this bed where they're all like praying to whatever's in the bed. Right. Which is just a desicated old man. Looking like an ill man, yeah. He does a like a broad daylight abduction of Steve from stranger things rip off. Yeah. And like no one notices because they're all on their phones. Okay. I just refer to're all on their phones. Okay. I just refer to that kid as Neil Cassidy because you when the guy said
Starting point is 00:46:30 they were like cool cats or called the people cats he's like oh what's up Neil Cassidy and I was just like why are you referencing beat poets to this child? To this child yeah but it's being thought up of thought up by a child I'm not sure. Right. This is based on something th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. tho tho thi thi. tho tho, tho tho thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. I thi. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I thi. I thi. I thi. I thi. I thi. I thi. thi. thought up by a child I'm not sure right this is based on something right like a graphic novel maybe I think so okay I bet it would make a lot more sense kid is stoked about a bloodbath why did I have that note because he gets the shit kicked out of him but he's just laughing and laughing okay yeah and the kid says that he's infected I think he does say that you're right yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah why do I th my next note say th th th th that that th that th that th th that th th that th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th that th that th th th th th th th th thi th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th is that that that the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the think he does say that you're right. Yeah. Yeah. Why do I is why does my next note say he's like that is my penis? I don't know. I don't know
Starting point is 00:47:14 either. There's this weird like vocal tick that he has where he just says, yeah I know, I grew up in San Francisco. Yes. He says it multiple times throughout the movie. And we see the clipping in a file when he gets, because when he finds the red file later, there's information, when Amanda shows it to him, there's a clipping about growing up in San Francisco and she's, it's like all the source material for him. Right, but he only read the headlines. That's why I said, that is my penis. Because when he like looks back and sees the flashes of himself in one he's just like sitting naked I guess being formed. Oh when he's in the chair yeah he's looking down. Yeah. Yeah. Well yes that is my penis. Well yes that is my penis. So and then he sees like a flashback. We've been
Starting point is 00:48:00 seeing in little clips of a flashback of his wife and son dying in a car accident. But now we see like the full scene of what's happened. Right, and they die in a car accident and he was in a room with Nora. At her husband's funeral. Yes, because he stayed behind. Fucking her, I guess. Yeah, I mean I don't mean I guess I saw, I watched it. I guess that's fucking. I think they were maybe just wrestling.
Starting point is 00:48:34 They were doing a mommy daddy tussle. And yeah, so he's to blame for his wife and kid dying somehow because she was paying attention to the kid and not looking in front and... Because the kid swallowed a coin? Well, was that what it was? Well, first of all, first of all, he's doing a coin trick with his fingers, like moving a coin back and forth over his knuckles. Yeah, oh wow. And then he's like tapping it on his teeth? Oh that's right. That's right. And if my kid was doing that, I would slap the coin out of her hand. I could not stand that sound. And the mom seems fine with it. And then somehow between tapping it on on on his it on his it on his it on his it on his it on his it on his it on his it on his it on his it on his it on his it on his it on his it on his it on his it on his it on his it on his it on his it on his it on his it on his it on his his his his his his his his his their on his their on his their on his their on his his his their on his their on his their on his their on his their on his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his on his on his on his on his on his on his on his on his on his on his on his his on his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his tap on his taping it on his taping it on his taping it on his taping on his taping on his taping on his taping on his taping on his taping on his taping on his taping on his taping it on his taping it on his taping it on his teeth he swallowed it. Right, right, right, right. Which also like no one whatever, no, like this isn't something anyone would ever know. Right. Yeah because no one else was there. But I mean they had to plant it in his mind. I know it's just that's the whole thing is just very like, well you guys really tried, huh? So he goes back to the Institute, finds his file, then pictures of himself naked in a chair,
Starting point is 00:49:28 then he goes to the hospital. Amanda is in the hospital with Paul. Right. Right. And Amanda is like shaving Paul, cleaning him up. And... But why? You know, just being kind. Okay. You got to shave the comatose every once in a while. The conduit. This is where we, Nora doesn't know James, on the phone. And he was created for the group by the group. He's a real fuboo situation.
Starting point is 00:49:58 And the whole time you're just thinking like, so was everyone in on it or did they not exist or what? Yes. Like maybe Nora's not even a real person? Yes. Oh, I don't know. I don't know. You don't know.
Starting point is 00:50:16 And then the empty man empties into him with like love craft monsters? Yeah, the shambling corpse was a bit, eh, until it got tentacles and then I was like, oh I like this. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And then what happens? I think I stopped taking notes. He's... Oh, he shoots Paul, right? Yeah, because yes. Oh, he goes back to his house, his house is empty. Yeah, man is the no to have. God damn it. It goes back to the hospital the hospital the hospital the hospital the hospital the hospital the hospital the hospital the hospital the hospital the hospital the hospital the hospital the hospital the hospital the hospital the hospital the hospital the hospital the hospital the hospital the hospital the hospital the hospital the hospital the hospital the hospital the hospital the no to have. God damn it. He goes back to the hospital he shoots Paul on the head and then leaves and everybody in the hospital goes prostrate before him right and starts praying to him and he's the empty man now dog. Yeah. Banamp-bent-man, empty-empty-man. I don't know, Alan. Well, Katie, you're gonna need to tell these folks
Starting point is 00:51:07 because we've entered the ratings phase. Puh, poh. I don't know. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. So, I didn't not enjoy it. I didn't not.
Starting point is 00:51:27 Okay. Yeah. But it was also just way too long. It was way too long. It almost felt like one of those movies that we watched, was one of those movies that we watched that like, okay, maybe this could have been a CW TV show. Yeah, I was thinking about that actually when you were saying that because you you often not often but sometimes will point out movies It would have been much better served as a series sure and I think this is definitely one of those
Starting point is 00:51:52 Yeah, I would have enjoyed this I think as a series. Yeah, like a let the mystery breathe a little bit more. Yeah, give me a little more the space to like, maybe show us what was going on behind the scenes. Right. You know how this happened. Yeah. Yeah. I don't know. What rating would you? What do you go first? Okay. Um, I enjoyed this. I didn't. Saying that it's David Fincher's kill list, it is no kill list. It's neither of those things. Yeah. But it wasn't bad. Seven such a bad movie. Give it a six.
Starting point is 00:52:31 Okay. Okay. Yeah, I think I'm in the same ballpark as you. Yeah. I think I'm in lot of good spookery. Yeah. It just feels like roughly put together to me. Sure. Yeah. I will say, um, yeah, I wouldn't discourage anybody, maybe get a bag of that popcorn that we were talking about. I heard it makes your lips. But then make sure you've got plenty of liquid with you. Yeah. Yeah, so you don't get sore lips. You don't want to get sore lips soo. You do not want to get sore lips. Speaking of things that you do want. What do I want?
Starting point is 00:53:08 Uh, shout out to a patron? Ooh, please. Hi, Katie's friend and Alan's friend. Clever. I like it. Read this in your best Italian, Philadelphia voice. So I think this is for me to read. That's maybe you, yeah. I look forward to this being offensive. Let me take a sip of coffee first everybody. Why is it okay to be offensive to Italians and no other people? Hmm. Not Italians, specifically Italian Americans. Sure, why? Uh, I mean, it doesn't offend me. I don't care. I just don't understand why.
Starting point is 00:53:45 I feel like the Irish are also fair game a lot of the time. Yeah, I think that's probably true. Maybe it's a Catholic problem. All right, so best Italian Philadelphian voice. Here we go. Now do I go, do I go like, soprano's mobster? I think you go Chris Pratt as Mario. Did you see that that he was cast as Mario?
Starting point is 00:54:08 And Charlie Day is Luigi, because he has, quote, Italian heritage. Listen, are either of them Captain Lou Albano? He's, he's, he's, no, he's left us. Okay, then there is no Mario. So we have moved on, unless you get Glenn Danzig to play Mario. Wait, wasn't, um, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he's, he's, thian, and thian, and thian, and thian, and thian, and thian. And thian, and thian, and thian, and thian, and thian, and thian, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and th. And, and th. And, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's left us. Okay then there is no Mario. Yeah, so we have moved on unless you get Glenn Danzig to play Mario. Wait, wasn't John Lakewizamo Luigi? Oh in the movie? Oh I don't know. I think he was. Bob Hoskins, yeah, see that's also not great, yeah. But in the cartoon in the interstitial victory was Captain Lou. And he was And he was a, swing your arms from Santa site. Oh my God, that's right.
Starting point is 00:54:48 Wow. Do the Mario. That was buried deep in my brain. Yeah, I just drew that. I'm the empty man now, dog. No, I'm the empty man because you took it from me. No, I gave it back to you. Oh yeah. I think we're, I think we're beating around the bush here. Okay, we're right, we're right.
Starting point is 00:55:09 Oh, I'm star. What? It's Philadelphia, you gotta start with an O. Oh, okay. What, you got some kind of attitude problem? I'm star, long-time listener, first time betrone. Do the whole thing. I can't do it. Now, now. Now, now. Now, now. Now, now. Now, now. Now, I, I, I, no. Now, I, I, I feel. Now, I feel. Now, I feel. Now, I feel, I feel, I feel like, I feel like, I feel like, I feel like, I feel like, I'm like, I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm thi, I'm thi, we're th. We're th. We're th. We're th. We're th. We're th. We're, we're, we're, we're, we're, we're, we're, we're th. We're, we're, we're th. We're th. We, we're th. We're th. We're th. We're like, we th. I th. I th. th. thi. I thi. thi, I thi, I thi, I'm thi, I'm thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. theea. We're thi. We're thi. We're thi. We're thi.time patron. What? No! Do the whole thing. I can't do it. Now I feel like I'm just being offensive.
Starting point is 00:55:29 I'm a star. I'm star, a long-time a listener, first-time patron. A patron. From the extremely mean city of brotherly love. Go birds. It's true. I used to think of Pittsburgh as our stately rival. But you guys have melted this cold heart of mine with your cursing and hilarity. Too much cursing here in Pittsburgh.
Starting point is 00:55:53 Fuckin' day. Ah, fuck yourself. Dix! If I could I'd make everyone listen to your podcast so they could understand why, Conjeti! And Giallo. Yes Yes. Hey great. Thank you. Yeah. I had years of practice. Make me grin like a madman every time I hear them. I DK how to end this so just insert your personal favorite Wambulence inside joke here. Hmm. Hmm. What's your favorite, Katie? What's your favorite? I don't know. I wasn't prepared to, I wasn't prepared for this question. Ah, I don't know. I don't know, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:56:36 Star, thank you very, I mean, that. Star, thank you so much. Oh, thank you so much. Oh, ha ha! Hey me that, Mutsaril. My grandmother used to say Muzreel. I'm doing the tight five fingers right here. Yeah, just five fingers to your chin and then away.
Starting point is 00:56:54 To your chin and then away. How else are you going to prove a point, huh? Yeah, just got a, yeah. Thank you so much for being a supporter. Yes, thank you to Oliver Patron's. And I go birds, I don't care about the Steelers. Yeah, it's fine. Yeah, I love birds. They're great. I do love birds though.
Starting point is 00:57:12 They're amazing. Yeah. The first one was like, I bet I could jump for a long time. Yeah. Oh man, on Thanksgiving one of my cousins took um turkey home for her chickens and I was like chickens eat turkey and she was like don't think about it too much I was like okay. Chickens eat chicken. Yeah she told me she says they sometimes feed some eggs when they're sick and it makes them better.

Speaking my brother along, we were just talking about how much he enjoys icy light the other day. Oh, beer guy and he's a big Steelers fan. Is he? Is he a Delaware native? A Delaware area?
