Werewolf Ambulance: A Horror Movie Comedy Podcast - Episode 384- The Purge: Anarchy (2014)

Episode Date: June 20, 2022

In this week's episode, we found ourselves having one of the most deeply divided reactions to a film in a very long time. The film in question is the second entry of a franchise in which, shockingly, ...we have also covered the first and NONE of the subsequent movies out of order: it's 2014's "The Purge: Anarchy." Special topics for your consideration include: the concept of a libertarian fantasy world, the lack of more stupid crimes, terrible code names, QB!, income taxes, trying to make a dumb idea sound smart, and the official treat of summer!  We covered the first "Purge" film back in Episode 109. If you're into home invasion films, maybe you'd also like  Episode 40- "You're Next," Episode 86- "Hush," Episode 243- "The Strangers," or Episode 315- "Knock Knock."  Find us online: Support us at patreon.com/werewolfambulance where you can hear us discuss an action movie each month. Starting point is 00:00:00 You have an intro. Should I try to to the to the to the to you. You have an intro. to you before we colled. I do.
Starting point is 00:00:20 Go. Katie. I have a official food for summer, twenty-twenty-two. Oh, what is it? It's popsicles Katie. Okay, I'm gonna popcicles. Yeah, I was eating a popsicle at the beginning of this film, so my notes are a little spotty. Oh, okay. But I gotta tell you a fruit-based popsicle. Are there other kinds of popsicles? Yeah, there's fudgicles. Oh, I don't do a chocolate pops. There's a tho pop. There's the the th. th. th. I I I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I'm th. I'm thoooo. I's a, there's your blow pop, which is just kind of your, well, That's a lollipop.
Starting point is 00:00:46 Oh, not blow pop, a rocket pop. Oh, rocket pop. Well, that's good. Strawberry, whiteberry and blue raspberry thing. Yeah, they're blue, white and red flavored. And then you've got your ice cream, like a popsicle. Okay. They, I' th, I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I' th. I'm. I'm th. I'm th. But if you, I highly recommend shelling out a little bit more for the high-end, like a Whole Foods popsicle. Okay.
Starting point is 00:01:10 This one had a whole chunk of pineapple in it. Yeah, I don't want to chew a popsicle. I was very excited to be like, oh, that's a put out? Oh, we don't have one of them. Lime meritas. But also I'm a gross, basic bitch. God, those fucking lyritas are so disgusting. Don't start. Well, I can fill in the beginning of this movie's notes because I wrote a god-dam.
Starting point is 00:01:35 the beginning of this movie's notes because I wrote a goddamn 17 paragraph essay before it had really even kicked in. Did you write Blume House? I did. I said get the fuck out of my face Bloomhouse. So mad at Bloom House. Just like, you have to touch everything. Yeah, you don't have to. Yeah, Jason. Oh I have all this money to make all the moves that make me all the moves. Oh I guess you're just successful, wait. Maybe it's that I hate people who are more successful than me. Also people who are prettier than me. Yeah. Did you know that in America, 2023, unemployment is below 5%? Yeah, to be fair, the unemployment rate is like 3.6% right now here in 2022.
Starting point is 00:02:18 And generally, the poverty line, the percentage of people living below the poverty line has decreased or held steady since like 1960 with a few upticks, which generally correspond with an economic recession. Everything they're describing at the beginning of this is what happens in real, it's like right now. It's stupid. This movie is stupid. I'm sorry, I'm going to start. This movie is stupid. Actually, let me read you my second note which says, let me say that I'm feeling pretty serlory. Okay. Right out of the box, I'll offer a counter view, which is that I put this movie in the same box that I put Final Destination. Okay. Paranormal activity. Okay. And these movies, because I do think the conceit is dumb. But if you just like, okay, that's the conceit of the film. That yes, everyone has agreed that one day a year we will murder each other.
Starting point is 00:03:11 Counter, counterpoint. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. The conceit of the film is dumb. And I think in the first movie we enjoyed it besides that. Yes. Because it was sort of self-contained in the story of like this family, it was a home invasion film, with sort of a dumb conceit. In this movie, it tries to zoom out a bit
Starting point is 00:03:27 and talk about the political landscape that has led to this, and I find that's so abominably stupid. It feels like a stupid person's idea of what a smart movie is about. Oh, for sure. Like, it's like, oh, it's like, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, the, the, like, like, like, like, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the.. the. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. to. to. to. to. to. today. to. to. today. th. movie, but also with like fucking killing. It's just like, ah. I don't know why, man, I was just fucking on board for it when it went down. You texted me about this movie seeming so positive about it, and then I watched and I was like, no. Do you think I ruined it by saying a positive movie? No, no, I just like failed to see how a purge would really affect the economy that much. And like, here's the problem with this movie, to me.
Starting point is 00:04:11 It's meant to be provocative of what America's turning into, right? So it's meant to either be America on the trajectory it's on, or it's meant to be like a sci-fi dystopia America, which is just slightly off. Yeah. But neither of those work, you know what I mean? See, I think of it's it's in the the grand lineage of a Soiland green or a total or not total recall, running man or something where it's just like, it is that like dystopian idea of what? I guess to me those are like farther future, even though I make fun of them for only being like 30 years in the future. This was only like nine years in the future. So what that's saying is this is America, right?
Starting point is 00:04:54 It is America turned up to 11. It feels like some stupid libertarian bullshit is how it feels to me. Oh yeah, I mean, they're, they're, one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one the one the one the one the one the one the one the the mean they're there one of the biggest problems with this film is that it's a white savior movie. Yeah yeah I didn't even get into that because I was just so mad about the economy. I mean the end of the movie is two women of color fawning over a white man who saved them with his guns. Fair enough. With his guns and his fucking John Wayne attitude. No yeah you're definitely right about that. I I I I th. I th. I the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the movie. I the movie. I the movie. I the movie. I the movie. I the movie. I the movie. I the movie. I the movie. I the movie. I'm the movie. I'm the movie. I'm the movie. I'm the movie. I'm the movie. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I's the the the the th. I's is th. I's is th. I's is th. I's is th. I's is. I's is. I's is. I's is. I's is. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. th. th. th. th. th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. the the th. th. No, yeah, you're definitely right about that. I just, I guess I started the movie angry because it's like, why would you do murder? It's March 21st, file a fucking fake tax return, you dip shit. And then also just, this is what I'm talking about with it, it's either America or it's dystopian America, where it's like, the conce that every not every American most Americans are so fucking ready to commit violent crime
Starting point is 00:05:50 sure and the thing that's stopping them is the law right like that is not true I just don't yeah I agree no I do not think that most people want to kill their neighbors I don't think most people want to do and most people just want to not be killed sure yeah yeah but this is th th th th th th th th th th this th this is th th I I I I I I I I th I I th I th I th I th I th I th I th I th I th I th I th th th th th. th. I thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. I th. I th. I th. I thi th. I thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi ththat most people want to kill their neighbors. I don't think most people want to do any, most people just want to not be killed. Sure. But this is exploitation, so it's exploiting your fear that your neighbors want to kill you. I don't know. I just really think it's stupid and I don't like it. And I also think that this movie is as the scope is pulled out from just the Hawk family residence to now.
Starting point is 00:06:26 Hawk, comma, Ethan. By the way, his and Umutherman's daughter, whose name I'm not going to be able to pull right now is in season four of Stranger Things. Oh yeah. And she was in season three as well. She's a fucking delight. She's also in, she was in one of the Fear Street movies we did too. Oh, okay. Yeah, so sort remember this conversation. Yeah, yeah, yeah. She's great. Of the things I remember, this one is fuzzy. But, oh, sorry, sorry, as we pull out from the Hawk Family Reresidents and see the world at large, they're kind of alluding to the fact this into like effect. This is not current day
Starting point is 00:07:05 America. This is the totalitarian dystopian because then you get a, uh, oh fuck, what's his name? I want to say it's Michael K. White, but that's not it. Michael Bean. I wish. Michael J. Michael J. thanks. Michael B. Jordan. Michael. Michael K. Williams. You get. He knows pretty close. Who plays Omar in the wire, which you will watch one day. I swear to God I'm going to watch it someday. Who passed away last year, which was a real big bummer. He's an amazing actor. Who is he in this movie? He is the leader of the resistance. The guy they put in those terrible round glasses. Oh you mean like the caricatureature th of th of th of th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi tho tho tho thi thi. He thi thi thi tho tho tho thi. He's thi. He's thi. I thi. He's thi. He's thi. He's tho tho tho th. He's th. He's th. He th. He th. He th. He th. He th. He th. He th. He thi. He thi. He thi. He thi. He thi. He thi. He's thi. He's thi. I thi. thi. I thi. thi. thee. thi. thooooooooooooooooo. Who the. Who the. Who the. Who thi leader of the resistance. The guy, they put in those terrible round glasses. Oh, you mean like the caricature of an activist. Of a black liberation? It sucks! But like, so he's pushing back against the totalitarian regime that's doing these purges. I mean, I feel like saying it's a caricature is like kind, it's worse than that. Oh yeah, yeah, it's a trope and a racist stereotype.
Starting point is 00:08:06 I just don't like this movie. I don't like these movies. I think that the, like, anything good they have going for them, like how scary it would be to be hunted, is overshadowed by this entire stupid wrapping paper they've put on it, you know? Yeah, Yeah. So you want to watch a most dangerous game type situation. Yeah, absolutely. What's the what is it? What's the movie where ice tea is hunted by Rutger Howard? Oh, um. Dangerous game? No, fuck. It's like my friends, Kays and and
Starting point is 00:08:38 Perry's favorite action movie and they pitched it for, I put it up several times for a vote and and never got voted. Fuck. I'm looking at a, okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. the game. the game. the game. the game. the game. the game. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's, to. Yeah. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I'm. Yeah. I'm, to. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I'm, to. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I'm, to. the to. the to. I'm, the the the the the a vote and never got voted. Fuck, I'm looking it up. Okay. Surviving the game. Surviving the game. Yeah. I would much rather have watched that. I've never seen it. I think I would like it much, much, much, much, much better than this.
Starting point is 00:08:55 But so we meet Ava who works at a diner with Tanya with Tanya and one of the many shit-ass dudes in this movie, who is constantly being a leering gross man to Ava. Carlos? Carlos? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And their boss, the white lady boss, that we'd never really meet. And then Ava goes home to Cali and their father. Jolly's grandfather. Of fire starter.
Starting point is 00:09:22 Yeah, I was going to say, much better actor in this film. Strong agree, but like, also 100 grand. It's not his fault, but 100 grand, fuck off. That's nothing to these people. But when he walks off to the bedroom, he's like, hey, I'm going to go lay down for a while. Do not check on me. I'll definitely be in the bedroom. That's what I'm going to say when I run away from home for the last time. The first time, I guess. First time, last time. I'm going to get right the first time is what I'm saying.
Starting point is 00:09:50 And we also see Matt Saranson is driving around his ex-girlfriend. Oh, she's so bad in this movie. What? Are you joking? Every line he delivers, like he's been punched in the face right before he said it he's like oh I just never loved you. He's been told that he's not going to play in the big game. Yeah hey QB sit down. Was he that bad on Friday night night like because I remember him being very compelling. He's very good on that and he's good on the midnight mass that television show. Oh I watched it's good. He's good he's too he. He's good on. He's good on. He's good on. He's good on. He's good on. He's good on. He's good on. He's good on to be to be to be to be to be th. th. th. thi. thi. the thi. to be to to to the to be to be to be to be the to be to be to be to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. the. the. to. toda. toda. toda. today today to told. to to to to to told to to the. He's terrible in this. Yeah, but come on. He doesn't have a tone to work with. No, I guess not. I only refer to him as Matt in my notes. Is that his real name? No, that's his character's name Matt Sarence.
Starting point is 00:10:33 Oh, okay, okay. Okay, okay. Oh, man, see, that's the problem. But still, treat of the summer. So Ava and Kelly will just leave their grandfather and father to go to his room, and he gets dressed up and sneaks out. Right, we're seeing everybody sort of preparing for purge night, getting home, saying to each other, other stay safe a million times like if you took a drink every time you know.
Starting point is 00:11:05 But I mean it's a terrifying concept like you were saying for sure. 100% I think it needs to stay stupid. It can't try to build a smarter framework around itself. It needs to be stupid for it to work. Do you know what I mean? For sure. Is the rationale for not leaving the city that like you're just going to be killed in the woods. I don't fucking know. Yeah. I don't know. It's going to turn into Hush. Hush. Which is a great movie. I loved it. I love it. Yeah. Oh yeah I love that. Yeah. Speaking of she's also the star of hush is in Midnight Mass with Matt Saranson. Okay I'll watch it. I got to what I watch. Which I watch first? That or that? Which I th. Which I the th. Which I th. Which I the to watch I th. Which I the to watch I the to watch I th. Which I to watch I the to watch I th. Which I to watch I watch I watch I watch I watch I watch I watch I watch I watch. th. Which I watch. Which I watch. Which I watch. to watch? Which I watch I watch I watch. to watch I watch I watch. to watch. Which I watch? which I watch. Which I watch? which I watch, which I watch, which I watch, which I watch, which I watch, which I watch, which I watch, which I watch, which I watch, which I watch, which I watch, which I watch, which I watch, which I watch I watch I watch I watch I watch I watch I watch I to watch I to watch I to watch I to watch I to watch I to watch I to watch I watch, which I th. th. to watch, to watch, th. to watch, to watch, to watch, to watch, to watch, to watch, to watch, to watch, to watch, to watch, which I watch, which I watch, which I watch, which Itime. I can pump that out. It's by the same people that did the haunting of Hill House.
Starting point is 00:11:47 I did like that. And the haunting of Bly Manor. Never got to that. Oh, it's good. Okay. Anyway. So yeah, he leaves and leaves him and he's so then we see the scene of like him standing in front of like well-dressed people, a family, like a blonde, thin
Starting point is 00:12:10 mom and a cocktail dress and a dad is him and then like children in like private school suits holding hatchets and it's just like, come on. Here's, this is I think maybe also, maybe my problem is with Blue Mouths because they also did Get Out, which is a movie that is so good because it's so shocking. Sure. But this, and this movie, what these people are doing is so shocking and Get Out, right? Yeah, yeah. But this movie presupposes that everyone is like that. Everyone is just willing to kill and ready to kill and desires killing at any, the their, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they, they, they they, they they they they they they, they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they thi, thi, thi, thi, thate to thateateate a thate a thate a thate a thateate a that, that, they also also they also they they they that. Everyone is just willing to kill and ready to kill and
Starting point is 00:12:47 desires killing at any moment. And I just find that to be very insulting to the audience. Well, I feel like with this movie presupposes it's just gang members and the rich who want to kill. It's crazy. They keep telling us it's the rich that are doing the killing and what we see is like young minority men. Yeah, for sure. Like, what are th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th thi th thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi, thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. the thi the thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi. thi thi thi. thi thi. thi thi thi th's the rich that are doing the killing and then what we see is like young minority men? Yeah for sure. Like what are you trying to tell me? Oh my god, I'm sorry I am worked the fuck up. And meanwhile, QB and his girlfriend are having this like, or wife or whatever, or having this like strained relationship that is just unbearable to watch. See, I have a note that says breaking up sucks. I mean yeah but like you know when you're around a couple who argues a lot and you're just like please stop yeah it's not fun to watch. No for sure. I wrote I wrote like I along with this face painted scary man are tired of these two arguing already. Oh Matt
Starting point is 00:13:42 Saradson's fucking reaction to being like shoulder checked by that kid is so, Oh, we gotta go, we gotta go now. Yeah, that was like the real one true thing of this movie. But you go, get in the car, get in the car, get in the car. Not me, I'm screaming like a bitch. Son of a bitch. Oh, I am teeth clamped. They can't hear me if I talk talk talk talk talk talk talk talk talk talk talk to to to to to th if I th if I talk th if I talk th th th th th they can't hear me if I talk like this, get in the car.
Starting point is 00:14:08 We're the same distance you from them, but you can hear me and they can't. We've also seen gun guy who's just doing gun shit. And then his wife, ex-wife, comes over and he's like, go home to your new husband and your new family. Don't do anything stupid, hero, you heroic man! You're just so hunky and also so cool with that gun, but like, just be careful. How would wealth move upwards from killing? That's not how it would work. Killing the poor would not redistribute wealth upwards. You don't get their money when they die. So do you know the
Starting point is 00:14:46 like conspiracy theory people? There's all these conspiracy theories that the rich want population control? Sure. So that they can have more of the resources to themselves. Sure. But it kind of falls apart if you're like, but they need those people to work the things to make the stuff that they can have money from. The workers workers can they can they can they can they can they can the boss the the the they can't the the the the the the they can't the their they can't their they can't their their their th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. their. thoes. thoes. thoes. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. th. th. th. te. te. te. te. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. people to work the things to make the stuff that they can have money from. The workers don't need the boss. The boss needs the workers. Yeah, I know. You can't, this, the whole thing, like the news is reporting that they're, that the rich are killing the poor for the redistrub their wealth of the thoers...... because it was rich people that gave the money they were like, this isn't how
Starting point is 00:15:28 it works, you can do this. I like making your thought that rich people were like, oh yeah, I definitely hunt a man. You think Elon Musk would not hunt another human being. I think Elon Musk is an outlier. I don't, I could see him, Richard Branson. Bill Gates. There's a lot of rich people in this world, I think, who would not hunt a man. If you're a rich person, then it wouldn't hunt a man.
Starting point is 00:15:53 Get in touch. It only costs $100,000. Like, a lot of people in this country could afford $100,000 to hunt a person, and they choose not to do it. Were it thi legal legal legal legal legal legal legal legal legal to legal to choose not to do it. Were it legal or not, they wouldn't do it. That's what I'm saying. Not everyone is bloodthirsty. Money doesn't necessarily make you a killer. And they spend way more money on way dumber shit. Like all those people are going into space. Oh no. But it's not actually going into space because you're not leaving the Earth's atmosphere. Is that true? Yeah, they're not going into space. They're not going not going. their. their. their. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi thi thi thi thi thi thi. thi thi. thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the the the the the the the an the an the an theee an thee an theee an the an thee an the an thi thi thi thi thi thi space. There's like still within the gravitational pull of the earth, you dildo. They're just like in a really high plane?
Starting point is 00:16:27 Yeah, they're just rich. They're like, oh money! Throwing it into space. Yeah, they fill the engine with poor people, fire them all. Seriously, come the fuck on. Yes, the wealth gap is increasing. Yes, that is a problem. Yes, rich people are too fucking rich in this country. It does not mean that they're murdering people with hatchets.
Starting point is 00:16:48 It's just so stupid. I hate that I'm doing in defense of the rich right now. That is a very off-brand for me. So, we meet, we also met a guy named Diego who is at the front door of Hava's apartment building, drinking a 40 with a shirt open, being like, ah, right? Being hi, I'm a racist stereotype of a Latino man. Diego. Oh my god, and he's a rapist, right? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:18 Which also, I have to say, if the Purge were real, that would be so much more fucking common than murder. Everyone's out their th I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I'm th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thee. the the the. the the. the. the the. the. the the thi. the the the. We also common than murder. Everyone's out there trying to murder. There's like one little rape try here. You know what I'm saying? Like, the Purge would never work in the way they think it would. It's so stupid! I can't wait to do the rest of the films in this series. There's one that looks like it's in the Old West or something. Oh, Nancy, I'm excited about that.
Starting point is 00:17:45 Is it back in time? The first Purge? Ooh, really? Like Puritan? No, no, it's like just, it's like, it's like set five years before this movie. Oh, no, I want Puritans. I want them throwing themselves into like, or throwing each other into each throwing each other into threshers or something. Katie, that would be called Ye old perch. I would love to watch Ye old purge. Fuck, copyright that. I know I
Starting point is 00:18:07 can't, I'm making it. Just the purge set in the Vividge Times. Does thou wish to purge deliciously? My God. Killed them with butter. Can I tell you on Reddit today on a later note I saw a video of a woman dropping, toe, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, thi, thi, thro, throwne, thoing, thoing thoing thoing the, the, the, just, just, just, just just just just just, just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just the, the, ay, on a lighter note, I saw a video of a woman dropping an entire stick of butter down her throat, not chewing it, just pushing it down her throat. He's the craziest thing I've ever seen on the internet. I've seen a lot of weird stuff on the internet. I guess it would just melt inside your body. I mean, yeah, you just got to get it through your esophagus. have wicked diarrhea. Can you imagine the shit's?
Starting point is 00:18:45 That's eight tablespoons of butter, solid. Also, why you waste all that butter? Think about all the cakes you could have made. Well, is it a waste if you really like it? I saw a Tick Tock today of a man headbanging in his car to The Come With It Now song from Ridge Against the Machine and when it goes into the Wow wow wow wow he like brought it a towel and towe his forehead off and drank some water And then when it kicked back and he started headbagging again. It was delightful. Thank you for telling me what's on Tick-Tock so that I know I think I saw it on Twitter Fair. So it the turn, it turn, it turn, it turn, it turn, it tu, it tu, it tu, it t, it t, it tod, it tod, it tod, it tod, it tod today, it tod today, it today today today today today today to to to to to to to to to to the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the to come, the tod, it was tod, it was tod, it was tod, it was tod, it was tod, it was tod, tod tod tod today, today, today today today today today today today today today today today today today today today today today today today today today today telling me what's on Tick-Tock so that I know. I think I sold on Twitter. Fair.
Starting point is 00:19:26 So it turns out that the kids, the skateboard gang has cut Matt Sarinson's car things up. And they're just arguing and arguing and I was like, if this is about a baby, don't have the fucking baby, it's not good for you. And this made me realize we should do judgment night at some point on the action, the action, thion, thion, th.. th. th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thank, thank, th- thanks, thanks, thanks, th- th- th- th- th- th- th- th- th- th- th- th- th- thanks, thanks, thanks, thanks, thanks, th- th- th- th- th- th- th- th- th- th- th- th th th th th thin, th thin, th thin, thanks thanks, thanks, thanks, thanks, thanks, thanks, thanks, thanks, thanks, thanks, thanks, thanks, thanks, thanks, thanks, thanks, thanks, thanks, thanks, thanks, thanks, thanks is about a baby, don't have the fucking baby. It's not good for you. And this made me realize we should do Judgment Night at some point on the action movie podcast. Is that okay? No, that's Demon Night, no, Judgment Night. No, Judgment Night is with the Dea Night, the best rape in Faith No More, the best rap, the best rap, theyneight, their, th, th, th, th, and, th, th, and, th, th, th, and, th, and, th, th, th, and, is, and, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is the, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is.....
Starting point is 00:20:05 the soundtrack to Demon Night. Okay. But Judgment Night has like Buya Tribe and Faith No More, Cypress Hill and Sonic Youth maybe. What? Slayer and Ice T. Biohazard, Onyx? Friends, listeners of the podcast, I want you to know that Alan is not looking this up. He's listing it from memory. House of Pain and Helmene. Do the song Judgment Night, which is funny because most of them are mashups. House of Pain and Helmene are just two separate songs that meet in the middle. It's very funny.
Starting point is 00:20:34 Demon Night, I was wrong. It's mostly like Pantera, Ministry, Megadeth, Rollins band, biohazard, grave diggers. It sounds like a great soundtrack as well though. I would bop to all of those bands at some point or another in my life. Yeah. It's just because I grew up with a metal older brother. You know what Pantera kids listen to when they're stoned? Fuantara.
Starting point is 00:20:56 Yeah. I'd give them up. Yeldo, White Power on stage, I was like, you know, yeah. Yeah. I mean, I shouldn't be surprised. No, no, when he used to say, this song's about a new level of power, you know what we're talking about. And just like, oh, Phil, oh, we do. Maybe that's how my brother got into White Bride. Yeah, he did wear his hair and ties, my brother turned into Phil Anselmo. I feel without the success really. Please he goes by Philip K. Encelmo now.
Starting point is 00:21:26 I thought my brother will never hear this. So as Diego is doing his attempted sexual assault on his mother and daughter. Oh it sucks. It goes on for so long. So long. There is a bunch of dudes who are dressed up like a cop football team. They are too, aren't they? They're wearing like athletic tactical gear. Yeah. Athletical gear? Yeah. Yeah, I'm like at leisure. Like you mean what I'm wearing right now to sit here in your house? I'm wearing workout shorts? Yeah, workout pants there. Yeah. I'm working out shit. No, treating an ice-laying mango. So they bust in and they kill Diego and everyone's like, yay! Because the rapists is dead. But they are also a gang of government officials, presumably.
Starting point is 00:22:19 Uh, Big Daddy wants these two. Big Daddy. Big Daddy. Big Daddy. Big Daddy. Big Daddy. Big Daddy. Big Daddy. Big Daddy. Big Daddy. Big Daddy. th. Big. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I th. I th. I. I. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm th. I'm. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. Big Daddy. We have two for your personal purge, bringing them down now. I hate it. It's the stupidest thing you've ever heard. Listen, if you're not in a Tennessee Williams play, don't call yourself Big Daddy. Yeah, strong agree. And worry if you're Diesel, Big Daddy cool. I don't know who that is. The rest are, Big Diesel? He was, you know, he hung out the shot Michael's a lot. No, I don't know who that is either. You do. You do, you know him. Okay, okay. You know him. You don't know him. Oh. Yeah. So yeah, they, they, they they take Eva and Kelly to a semi that sparked that's sparked. that sparked. that sparked. that sparked. that sparked. that sparked. that sparked. that sparked. that sparked. that sparked. that sparked. to spark. to spark. to spark. to spark. to to to to to to to to to to to take her and they take Eva and Kelly to a semi that sparked outside, which earlier we saw killing people out of the back of the semi. Yeah, with like an anti-aircraft gun or something, like Rambo 4 or some shit.
Starting point is 00:23:15 It was basically the gun that Jesse the body had in Predator. Yeah. That makes that really high-pitch wine while it's spinning around. Yes. Gatling gun maybe is what I that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's th. th. that's th. the. that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. they's thi. they's they they're thi. they're they they're thiiiiia. No, I think you can carry a Gat with you. This seemed like it was on a tripoday. I don't know who fucking. I don't know shit about shit. What are we talking about? Oh, here's where I went into another diatriate. Oh, thrific. I th. I th. I thi thi thi thi thi. I thi. I thi. I thi. I thi. I thi. I thi. I thi. I thi. I thi. I thi. I thi. I just feel like this is some real libertarian ship. There's no real human motivation behind any of it. Is purging about class or wealth or religion or what? Like why does anybody want to do it? Why would these people... Wow, that doesn't make any sense.
Starting point is 00:23:58 Were you doing talk to text? Yeah. I don't think I said the baseline baseline three times in a row. The baseline idea idea thiiiiiii thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi their their their their thi their their their their thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi th. Yeah. I don't think I said the baseline three times in a row. The baseline idea of this film is that everybody just wants to murder but it's the law that stops them. No, if you really want to murder, you're a fucking murderer. See, but I feel like that feeds into that like Christian concept, like the reason you like I mean that's what people think with the death penalty will stop you from murdering it doesn't really doesn't no it doesn't it's just the thing that you used against poor people I guess what I'm saying is that any crimes I feel like I feel like I'm to live with myself for doing yeah yeah I'm already doing right like I'm spitting all over big a prescription right like I'm like the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th is I th is I th is I th is I th is like I th is like I th is like like I th is like like like I th is like I th is like I th is like I th is like I'm th is like I'm th is like I'm th is like I'm th is like I'm th is like I'm th is like I'm th is I'm th is I'm th is I'm th is I'm th is I'm th is I'm th is I'm th is I'm th is I'm th is I'm th. th. th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm to th. I'm to th. I'm it. I'm smoking marijuana without a prescription. When I used to shoplift all the time, it was something I felt like I could get away with. I don't think I could do it. I just hate stealing. I think stealing is the worst.
Starting point is 00:24:55 I mean, I understand, but you know. I was just stealing from big corporations. I understand, but I just think stealing fucking socks. Maybe I'm just too naive for this movie. I know I was mostly stealing from my employer, so who were not paying me nearly enough for putting up with all their bullshit. Probably wage thefting you. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:15 Yeah. Yeah. See, that's what I'd be doing if it was crime night. Then I got, see, here's the thing too, is that I that I that I got I that I got really, I that I that I that I got really, is that I was that I was that I was that I was that I was that I was that I was that I was that I got that I got really really really really reallythe thing too is that I got really into my own head about like filing a fake tax return where you just claimed that you'd paid like $40 million in estimated taxes and then they'd have to refund you that money, you know? And then I started thinking like, well yeah, but then they're gonna audit you. So you're not gonna get the money, but just because crime was legal that day that you filed, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like then I just, I missed a lot in the movie. You wouldn't just like run up and kick a kid because you're good? No.
Starting point is 00:25:47 No, God, no. No. Although, I would say that I took my child to an amusement park in Ligonier this week where it's definitely Trump country out there. And I saw a woman with a Doug Master. . She had had th, I had th, I had th, I had th, I had th, I had th, I had th, I had th, I had th, I had th, I had th, I had th, I had th, I had th. I was a today, I was. I was. I was, she had three little girls they were all wearing pink Trump hats. And I just wanted to walk up to her and just flip the hat off her head, you know what I mean? like put my hand under the brim and flip it and then just fronted her and then just fronted
Starting point is 00:26:13 her and then just fronted her. And then I thought, is that a crime. And then I thought, and I that a that a that a that a that's th. And tha, and I'm tha, and I'm tha, and I'm tha, and I'm tha, and I'm a tha, and I'm just, and I'm a thi, and I'm just, and I'm just, and I'm just, and tho, and thi, thr. And, and thi, and thi, and thi, and thi, and thi, and I was, and I was. And, and I was, and I was. And, and I was, and I was, and I was, and I was, and I was, and I was, and I was. And, and I was. Okay, I'm not punk her. I'm gonna pun that woman if I see her again. She was like calling one of her daughters to her and the girl walked by and I was like, you have no future. So I'm a monster. But I still wouldn't kill a poor person. Fuck sake. Not even if you paid a hundred. No. No. Uh, uh. The man who's only listed the th, th, th, th, th, th, th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th thi thi thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thu, thi, thi, thi, th. She was like th listed as sergeant in the credits. Who is this motherfucker? He is, I cannot describe him. He's like a greasy, silly Italian man, I want to say. He looks like the Punisher from the Marvel Comic Book Stuff's, who is this vigilante killer.
Starting point is 00:27:01 Okay. I know the cop-mat thing that cops have. Yes. Is that what cop's mat thing that cops have. Yes. Is that what he looks like though? Yeah, he looks like a greasy dude. Okay, okay. His name is Frank Castle. Okay.
Starting point is 00:27:12 I think in his full name might have been Frank Castelliano at some point. Sure, when he came through Ellis Island, they dropped that at, yeah. But he's very, like, very Italian. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. He's like, th. He's like, th. He's like, th. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He's like, th. He's like, th. He's like, th. He's like, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th dude basically this dude looks like the bonniture dressed on all black he's got a car that's got like steel riveted to it and bulletproof glass. It's an armored car but not an armored car but a car with armor. Yeah it's like an armored Pontiac. Yeah which kind of cool. Yeah for sure. We saw earlier that he's got all the guns. All the guns. And like 2020 2022 America? Doesn't feel good, saying all the guns, not a good, not a good feel. No, no, this movie was made in 2014, so it didn't feel great then either. Yeah, you know, it's true. Yeah, it's true. But, so, so he's, he's parked
Starting point is 00:27:58 on the street and he sees Ava and Kali being abducted. And he's like talking to himself like, just leave it alone, just leave it alone. Oh, I can't because I'm such a good guy with all these guns and armor. I'm gonna murder. I'm gonna murder. So he's- I hate it. I hate it. He's doing excellent tactical shots.
Starting point is 00:28:20 He gets out and he's, ping, ping, them where their body armor isn't, taking all these guys down, putting his gun up under their body armor to shoot them. So cool. And he shoots Big Daddy, but he doesn't kill Big Daddy. I mean, if you're going to come at Big Daddy, you best not miss, as it turns out. And meanwhile, while he has walked away, Matt Saranson and his ex have gotten into the back of this guy's car. I'm just hiding out there. Just hanging out. And we've been watching them sneak around the city. Right, because their car is broken down because the other, the skateboard punks cut the things.
Starting point is 00:28:55 Yeah, the stuff, the business. Why were they cutting it so close on crime night? What were they doing all morning? Get the fuck home. Fighting is I guess just arguing about that. Just then your house where it belongs. Don't take your fighting outside your house. Do not have public fights. I hate it. So Big Daddy opens fire with his big gun. Yeah. He's like this is my dick and it shoots bullets inside the engine and makes the engine stop working. Big Daddy, not scary. No.
Starting point is 00:29:27 Just the name Big Daddy is not scary. Big Daddy, I think if he'd been given a different name, he might have been scary. He would have had some gravitas, but Big Daddy, you're just like, do you think you're like a pimp? Do you think you're like, are you just, are just, are just, are just, are just, are just, are just, are just, are just, are just, are just, are just, are just, are just, are just, are just, are just, are just, are just, are just, are just, are just, are just, are just, are just, are just, are just, are just, are, are, are, are, are, are, are, are, are just, are just, are, are, are, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi, thi, th. th. th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the thi, thi, thi, thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi, thi, th big daddy? Calling him like the Colonel. I love that. He's apparently supposed to be like some sort of government official when we finally mean him at the end. Well the colonel does ring of like fried chicken. He could be corporal. He's dressed like he's gonna be working the barbecue. He is dressed like he's gonna be working the barbecue. He's got like an apron on and his ball cap and his sunglasses. That's a weird. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. th. the the th. th. the th. the th. the th. th. the th. th. the th. the the th. the the the th. the the the th. th. th. the th. th. He's the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. He's like. He's like. He's like. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's like. He's like. He's like. He's like. I. I's like. I's like. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the the th. the the th. the th. the th. the cap and his sunglasses. That's a weird look. Yeah, I think the apron is to catch the stuff of bullets that are flying out of his gun
Starting point is 00:30:09 from hitting it. I see. Oh right, like ejecting the cartridges or something. Yeah, and they're hot when they come out, like big daddy going, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh. Oh, poor big daddy. So, basically, what's Sergeant? Sergeant is like, here guys, here are some guns, good luck, protect yourselves. And they're like, what you owe us? And it's like, actually he saved your lives and then gave you guns.
Starting point is 00:30:34 You should be thankful and get the fuck out of there. Everyone acts like he owes them something in this movie, and I don't understand why. But then he says, I am the lead white man here, so don't you all follow me and I'll keep you alive. Got it, that explains it. I mean not to hit that point too too hard but it does really stink of white saviours. Yeah. And like I guess I like the action of the bang-bang shoot-em-em-ups. Yeah, and like I guess I like the action action of the bang-bang-bang shoot-them-up-up-up-up-up-up-up-up-up-up-up-up-up-up-up-up-up-up-up-up-up-up-up-up-up-up-up-up-I, I, I, and I, I, and I, I, and I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I th-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I that, I that, I, I that, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-yeah, thah-y-y-y-yeah, I thoo-y-y-y-yo'-I guess, I that's-I-I-I-I It's just bang-bang shoot-em-ups. I've seen so many better action movies at this point on our Patreon. And there's a lot of just like walking around the city and like their spot being blown up by a rat touching somebody. Yeah. Like if you're going to squeal when there's a rat in a life or death situation, maybe you deserve to be shot? Yeah, fuck that lady. The skateboard gang is like the their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. the. the. the the the the the the the the the the the the skateboard gang is like hunting them as well at the same time that Big Daddy's driving a semi around trying to find them and it was like, I can hide from a semi.
Starting point is 00:31:28 Yeah, you can tell when they're coming. There's also several semis. They have a fleet of them. They're pretty easy to hide from. There's also, they're running up and wait six more hours. What do they do? I don't know. They go on the subway. Oh, they go on the subway, that's right.
Starting point is 00:31:49 Which I have the note, God, I hope they're chedd. Oh yeah, I wish that. I wish they would have been if they were chud. Every last main character in this movie was eaten by chud. to the subway they see a stockbroker hanging from a, you know, he's dead, a stock building. And it's like maybe, you know, like you're telling me that the rich are killing the poor and then you're showing me poor people killing a stockbroker. Yeah. What is your fucking message? Yes. No. No. No. No. Oh, man. So Kelly's like, hey, hey's like, hey man, you can't do the purge anymore. I know you're gonna purge, but you shouldn't purge.
Starting point is 00:32:32 Why do they love him? I saw a video on the internet, you shouldn't purge. That actually sounds like a teenager. I didn't have a moral compass prior to seeing Michael Kay Williams okay, Williams tell me I shouldn't be doing this. But they are like, really invested in this man. They're almost like, Evangelical Christians being like, we gotta save your soul.
Starting point is 00:32:52 We gotta save your soul. And he's like, leave my soul be. And they're like, no. Okay, they already love him at this point. Right, why? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th th th th th th th th th th. th. th. th. th. th. they thi. they's. they's. they're they're they're they're they're th. thi. they're tho. they're they're thi. they're they're they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're they're they're they're they're they're they're to. to to the. to the. thean. thean. toean. thean. thean. thean. they're like. they're like a greasy man, but... And also, just the idea that, like, murdering people would be so fucking popular that the whole of the greater Los Angeles area would be unsafe to travel. Sure. That's insane. I mean, all of America is. The whole America is just a big fight zone. If... If... If...
Starting point is 00:33:25 Hey! Like, I understand that the government is in on it, but a lot of it isn't the government. I just don't under... I just fucking hate it. I hate this fucking movie. How did you feel about like the Mad Max guys coming into the subway with a flame-throwing and killing homeless people? Yeah, I feel great. I feel so good right now. I feel awesome. I'm so happy. This movie's so great I'm just so good. And then Matt Saranson and his lady friend are holding off these guys while everybody else escapes.
Starting point is 00:33:50 Right. And then they wait for them even though they shouldn't. They should be running. He's like we got to go. Actually, I love Matt Sarasan. Scrappy underdog. And they're on their way to Tanya tanya tanya tanya tanya. And their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their. their. they. they're they're they're they're they're they're their. their. th. they're they're they're they're th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. And thi. And thi. And th're on their way to Tanya's apartment. Right, because they have sold him on taking them to Tanias because they will give him Tanya's car. Right. When they get to Tanya's house, there's a news broadcast happening and they're like, Los Angeles, Los Angeles, Los Angeles, and record participation in Pittsburgh. I was like, how you're going to to bed and I was reading in bed and
Starting point is 00:34:28 the power went out because of a thunderstorm and I was like, perj-purch! I feel like if there was a purge in Pittsburgh, literally like almost everyone here would just be hiding under their beds being like, it's a, it's gonna be like a tornado. Go downstairs sit in your Pittsburgh potty We all eat fries on salad. What are we worried about? Seriously a listener tagged me in that viral twee today about the Pittsburgh salad. I was like no, it's true andrito. Oh, okay? Yeah, it was great. Okay. So good. They're chili reenio burritos very delicious.
Starting point is 00:35:08 Got french fries on it. No, french fries on that. No, I want french fries on it. No, I want french fries on it. Yeah, moving out here. Yeah, I'm not saying it's not good, it's just wild. You should watch my family fight over that cup of ranch, my extended family, it's a wild. So yeah, they're watching TV or they get to
Starting point is 00:35:39 the Tani's house and they're watching the TV in the Pittsburgh record participation in Pittsburgh. also implies that someone's counting the participants sure do you have to pre-register it sounds like voter turnout I think that someone's like oh god there's a lot and God are so many of them are all over Liberty Avenue oh no kogos oh no they held up to Kogos. And it exploded. Oh, fuck. Throw him in the mawn. Oh, at some point Matt Saracen also gets snared in a street thing because he's dumb and doesn't listen to a...
Starting point is 00:36:18 The sergeant. No, I'm just fucking stupid. And Carmelo, who is Michael K Williams character hacks some mainframe at some point, gets on the TV. This is all very running man to me. Yeah, for sure. So they're at Tanya's house, and Tanya's partying, and then her sister... What the fuck? Goes hogwild, shoots her and tries to shoot her husband because they were having an affair. Right. If they had just killed Lorraine, they could have stayed safely in that. the the the the the the the the th, their th, th, th, th, th, th, and get th, th, and get th, and gets th, and gets th, and gets th, and gets th and gets thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi them, and gets them, and gets them, and gets them, and gets them, and gets them, and gets them, and gets the, and gets th and gets th and gets th and gets th and gets th and gets th and gets th and gets th and gets th and gets th and th and th and th and th and their their thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thate thateateateateateateateateateateateateatea. thatea. thatea. thatea. And get thea. And the,to shoot her husband because they were having an affair. Right. If they had just killed Lorraine, they could have stayed safely in that apartment. Lorraine, the sister, they're like, no, we've got to run. No, take down this mousy woman with a gun.
Starting point is 00:36:53 You have 4,000 of them. Yeah, they're like, but guess he's responsible for them forever. Yeah, he's their dad now. He's their dad now, right? So we see a bunch more of those trucks are on the move throughout the city. And Big Daddy's doing like a, he shot me, he shot half my team. I want him dead. And I want the two women, He saved. They're mine. I want them alive." And it's like everybody heard you say that. How did everybody hear you say that? Everyone in the movie, every character in the movie hears him say that.
Starting point is 00:37:34 Oh. High-ranking government official, I just like can't... Although, in their defense, watching any interview with any high-level government official, they're fucking dildoes. They would definitely call themselves Big Daddy. You think Mitch McConnell wouldn't call himself Big Daddy? Oh, no. That's disgusting. Why are you saying this to me?
Starting point is 00:37:57 I'm already mad. Okay, so the kid, the skateboard gang captures them. And he's like, oh no, we're not killers. Ha ha ha. We're just selling you to be killed. Sir, same fucking thing. Criminally underused, Lakef Stanfield at this point. I don't know, LaKife Stanfield.
Starting point is 00:38:14 You do, because he is the guy who gets abducted in the beginning of get out, get out, theells him to get out and run run. Yeah. That's Lekeef Stanfield. Oh I don't think I really don't the same actor. He's in Atlanta. He's in a bunch of different things. What's Atlanta? The Donald Glover TV show. Yeah. He's in a ton of stuff though. Lake Heathen a lot of stuff. Lankie. I'm th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th thin thin thin think think think thin th th thi think thi thi think think think think think think think think think think think think thi thi th. Yeah. Yeah. I don't thin. I don't thin. I don't think. I don't think. Yeah. I don't think think. I don't think think. I don't think. I don't think. I don't thin. I don find time. I gotta stop watching traces. You had to have stopped. You had to have watched all of it. I'm like anxiously awaiting season three. Will they stay together? Will they come back? Oh, I hope not. So they are, they're taken to basically a gala auctioned, right? By like Angela Lansbury. It's like they're on the stage, the people do the bid, they get, they figure out what's happening and then Matt Sarasen's like, what is this we're
Starting point is 00:39:16 being hunted? What? It's like, did you not pay attention to the entire last scene? I was thinking about Coach's daughter? Yeah. Coach's daughter. So, but I love like the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, th, the, th, th, th, th, th, th, like, like, like, like, like, thi, thi, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the the the the the the thi, the, the, the, they, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, thi. thi. thi. daughter. Yeah. Coach's daughter. So, but I love like the, like, oh, we've got a bid from the Hanover sisters. I hope you bring those, brought those funny knives. They're like, mm-hmm. I also am surprised that the Hanover sisters thought that they Oh, I can say greasy Italian. Also, we've decided on this show that it's okay to be racist to Italians and Irish people.
Starting point is 00:39:49 I thought we had just like dug in our heels on that one. Also, did you just say I'm a greasy Italian? I did not. I said you're of Italian heritage. I am greasy though, aren't I? I'm greasy right now. It's sweaty up here. It's sweaty up here. I'm sweating out coarse light. So, yeah, they kill all of the hunters. Yeah, they get hunted and they hunt the hunter. Well, he does.
Starting point is 00:40:14 Sergeant kills them all. And then all these butlers with rifles run in. Which is fucking hilarious. They are so funny. They look like they should be serving drinks and hors d'oeuvres. You were carrying around canopades a second ago. You know you have like a fucking AK-47? And then Rip Shane, he's out. Yeah. Yeah. Which is Matt Sarasen. No one misses you. And also like early in the movie I had written down like, oh I can't wait to see these two come back together and then one of them tragically. And then them them them them them them them them them them them them them them them them them the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th th th th th th th th th their their their they have they have they have they have they have they have they have they're have they're have they're have their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their they have they have their thragic. they're have like thu. thragic. toge. toge. toge. try. try. try. try. try. try. try. try. try. try. try. they have like like like like they have like, ha! You know I always loved her. Yeah, his last words were apologizing. He's like, I'm so sorry for everything. And she's like, I love you and then he dies.
Starting point is 00:40:50 And it's like, oh, so glad his last words were apologizing. Like, so so so important. I love that she's holding him. And, uh, and Sergeant, I So, you gotta let him go now. But then, the YouTube guy rolls him to save the day, and he's like, change only comes when their blood spills, and Eva's like,
Starting point is 00:41:14 okay, yeah, let's spill some fucking blood. Yeah. Well, also, but like, these guys are against the purge. They're the purge. They're talking about how they're against the purge. And then Matt Sarasen's partner is like, I want to purge and they're like, oh yeah, here's a gun, let's go purge. Come with us nice white lady, let's go kill some people. Like I understand they need to kill the bad guys and the change only happens when their bloods but she's literally like I want to kill the revenge. Yeah. the th. the the they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they's they they's they's they's they're they're they're th. thu they're thu- they're like thi thi they're thi they're like, they're like, they're like, they're like, they're like, they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they's is is they's they's they's they's they's they's they's they's they's they's they's they's they're they're they're their their their thi, thi thi thi thi thi teeeeat toge. te. toge. th th thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi they're like they're like they're like, yeah, all right, let's do it. You can't have it both ways. No.
Starting point is 00:41:46 I also don't think bloody revolutions lead to positive change. Not generally. No, no, no. Okay, so we find out what Sergeant's deal is. Yeah. He's going to kill the man who killed his child. Right, he was drunk and ran over his kid. Which I assumed the child was killed during the purge. No, it was just a separate...
Starting point is 00:42:06 Because it was 12 months ago, which sounds like it was... It should have been the purge. Yeah. No. Then I thought, ooh, DUIs are legal during the purge, huh? That doesn't seem great. Like, what about your infrastructure? You know, I saw that fast in the fur the fur the fur the infrastructure, the infrastructure, the infrastructure, the infrastructure, the infrastructure, the infrastructure, the infrastructure, the infrastructure, the infrastructure, the infrastructure, the infrastructure, the infrastructure, the infrastructure, the infrastructure, the infrastructure, the infrastructure, the infrastructure, the infrastructure, the infrastructure, thiuiting, thiuiting, the infrastructure, the infrastructure, thiuiting, thi. that's that's that's that's that's that's, that's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's,that Fast and the Furious movie where they dragged a safe down the street. It was really bad for the infrastructure.
Starting point is 00:42:27 But you could do it. Dory and the Burge. That makes no fucking sense. I wish people just did really elaborate dumb crimes. Yes. I blew up Mount Rushmore. What are you going to do? Fuck you.
Starting point is 00:42:42 Right here I wrote. I guess the thing is I don't care if he does it or not. Should I care? How does it fit into a larger plot? Does it matter? No. It doesn't. It doesn't matter.
Starting point is 00:42:53 Yeah. No. I'm sorry, Katie. It's fine. So, ha ha. They go to the house. that killed his son while drunk driving. He wakes him up and he's like, I'm gonna kill you, killed my son, go, oh, mom, doo, do, do, he's so sad. He's so sad.
Starting point is 00:43:08 And then he comes walking back outside, covered in blood. But he had already been covered in blood, so like, eh, yeah. But in case you forgot, he was still covered in blood. And then he gets shot. Mr. Bigstuff. Nope, big daddy. Oreo big stuff. I used to live next door to this guy when I lived in the South Side who listened to that song 24 hours a day. Like he just played it over and over. He was a bass player too and he would play that song on his base and then I would like see him parking his car in front of our apartment building and he would just be like,
Starting point is 00:43:39 Mr. Big Stuff. Blasting it in his car. It was wild. It is a great song, but like, dude, did. I like the dedication and just being like, I want a theme song and I am making this happen. Yeah. I mean, to be fair, I refer to him in my mind only as Mr. Big Stuff. Sure. Yeah. Yeah. I only, whenever I hear that song, I can only think of the giant Oreo cookie, Oreo Big Stuff. Who do you think you are? Oreo Big Stuff.
Starting point is 00:44:07 You're never gonna get my heart. You're gonna give me diabetes. Worth it. So Big Daddy comes up and he's like, I'm gonna kill you and I'm gonna kill them, and I knew where you'd be going because we did an internet search on you with Google. Oh my god, yes yes, he's he does the whole exposition of how we found you you. You weren't that hard to find because we figured it out and then we followed you and then we followed you and then we knew who you were and then we got your license plates and they were in your license plates. It's a database. It's a people. It's like. It's a simple. It's a simple. It's a simple. It's a simple. It's a simple. It's a simple. It's a simple. It's a simple. It's a the whole. It's a the whole. It's a the whole. It's a the whole. It's a the whole. It's a the whole. It's a whole. It's a whole. It's a whole. It's a whole. He's a whole. It's the whole. It's the whole. It's the whole. He's the whole. He's the whole. He's the whole. He's the whole. He's the whole. He's the whole. He's the whole. He's the whole. He's the whole. He's the whole. He's the whole. He's the whole. He's the whole. He's the whole. He's the whole. He's the whole. He's the whole. He's the whole. He's the whole. He's the whole. He's the whole. He's the whole. He's the whole ex. He's the whole ex. He's the whole ex-. He's the whole ex-hea. He's the whole ex-hea. He's the whole ex-he's the whole ex-he's the whole to make it seem like, because I don't know all the numbers, and if you put in a star, it'll just find the ones with those numbers.
Starting point is 00:44:45 It's called a wild card. It's just like, miss your big stuff. Shut your fucking mouth. And then? And then? Yeah. He's like talking about the unwritten rulesthis is so, it's just, God, it's fucking achingly stupid. Can't have heroes, no sir, no heroes. Unwritten rules of purging.
Starting point is 00:45:13 But then the guy comes out of his house because he wasn't killed. Yeah, he let him live. And he shoots Mr. Big Stuff through the forehead. It's just breathtakingly stupid. And then drives him to the hospital because he owes him something now. And the sirens are ringing so you know laws are back on. And you just think like how these emergency rooms are going to be overrun at this time? It's such a shitty time to be a doctor and a nurse. No, they are not. You're right. Can I read you my last note? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. thu. thu. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the th. th. th. th. th. the the the the the the the the the the the the their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi. thi. thi. thi. their th drives him to the hospital. Real climactic ending for you there. Katie. Alan. I could probably guess, but why don't we go to the ratings phase and see how this pans out. I hated it. I hated it. Yeah. I feel like it's a fine, I mean it's a stupid conceit,
Starting point is 00:46:01 but a fine one to make a movie about, right? Law, crimes are legal. And then they were like, oh we should really answer why crimes are legal. Look, no one was asking the question in a non-ratorical way. You know what I mean? I hate it. Yeah. It's a zero for me. A zero. It's a zero for me dog. Sub-zero, but really just zero. I think I was giving it like more credit than maybe it's due because I was comparing it in my head to like a death race 2000 sort of thing. Don't let me influence your rating. But I found it super tense. I was super tense the whole time.
Starting point is 00:46:40 I'm gonna give this a seven. Yeah, no wild. This is like the biggest disparity we've had in a while. But I really enjoyed this movie. But yeah, I mean, it's an exploitation film to me and that's just what, that's, so I give it like a lot of leeway because of that. I would give it leeway if it didn't think it was so fucking smart.
Starting point is 00:46:59 It's like a person who's really stupid who to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to talk to you and tell you like about your area of expertise and you're just like, no, you know what I mean? I 100% too. I hate stupid people thinking they're smart. It really, really chafes me. Real pet peeve of mine. Salads with no french fries and stupid people thinking they're smart. Shove it up your asses. You stupids. Anyway, I'm glad that's over.
Starting point is 00:47:32 Yeah, so next week we're just going to do another porridge. What? What? a message from from TK, probably shouldn't say his last name. Hi TK. This says, hi, Alan and Katie.
