Werewolf Ambulance: A Horror Movie Comedy Podcast - Episode 386- Dark Night of the Scarecrow (1981)

Episode Date: July 4, 2022

So many of you have suggested that "Dark Night of the Scarecrow" might be the scarecrow movie that Katie enjoyed years ago while immediately forgetting the title. Well, is it? You'll have to listen to... find out! Special topics for your consideration include: an utter lack of knowledge about farm equipment, only having one outfit and wearing it for everything, absolutely amazingly-named characters, some fun with math, the insignificance of the passage of time when you're plotting out a movie, and some thoughts on folks who purchase a particular type of tshirt.  This is the third scarecrow-themed film we've covered in hopes of finding the one: the others are Episode 237- "Scarecrow" (this is a SyFy channel original film and hoo boy that was a mistake) and Episode 334- "Husk."  Hey, give us a call and leave us a voicemail! Starting point is 00:00:00 Alan, Katie. Do you want me to spoil at the beginning or the end of this episode whether this was the scarecrow movie I've been looking for? Let's just get out of the way. Ask me. Was this the scarecrow movie you've been looking for? Nope! I didn't think it would be. No, you know what? I'm beginning to think I dreamed it. Well, I thought this was a rough cell because it's a made for television movie from 1981. So like, you would have been non-existent in 1981.
Starting point is 00:00:39 Just a twinkle in someone's eye. And also, apparently, this movie, this movie, the movie you for life. Yeah, my friend Christina will attest this is the first horror movie she ever saw when she was very, very young. Yeah. Missy saw it on the TV when she was a child and it fucking terrified her. This is a very good movie. I am gonna go out on a limb and say it. I am shocked that this is a made for TV movie. Yeah. There's like, th. It's is like, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. But it's all implied, but it's implied really well. Yeah. I love it. Yeah. Well, you've got some acting powerhouses in this film. Yeah? Charles Durning. That's a Otis? Hazel rig. The finest name. It It's no Skeeter Norris, but it's a fine name. Is that big guy or dumb guy? That's dumb guy. Yeah, the mechanic is Skeeter Norris. Larry Drake who played Bubba Ritter. Who was on LA Law for many years? LA Law? I think he's he's Octo Dr. Giggles. Oh, was he now? the film the film Dr. Giggles. I don't know what that means. It's a movie called Dr. Giggles, he was in it. Okay. Lane Smith who plays Harless, was in a ton of like TV shows? He's been in everything. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So we open
Starting point is 00:01:53 on a little girl and a grown man who is dressed like a little boy. Yeah, and seems to have some sort of developmental disability. Ticks out tits out. You know what I'll risk strangers seeing my tits to not get a tick bite. I am part of a family of people who everyone has had Lyme disease. Oh no. Yeah, yeah, yeah, and it knocks out the Lyme disease. Really? I thought you couldn't get rid of
Starting point is 00:02:47 Lyme disease once you had it. No, if you catch it early enough it's fine. Oh, okay. But you still lingering effects of it. You can't. I'm just a fucking shit show. Yeah, it's not a good time. Yeah, not a good time. Don't. Don't. Don't. Don't. Don't. Don't. Don't go. Don't. Don't. Don't go. Don't go. Don't. Don't. Don't go. Don't. Don't. Don't. Don't. Don't. Don't th. kids from the neighbor over to share life. Just sit in the high grass. Check your pets. But they're singing a song that's like the flowers are smiling. You know I'd smile with the ticks and the grass and there's pollen I'm sneezing. I hate the outside. I let it go too long and now my liver is failing. Lime disease is a real piece of shit. Boop, boom.
Starting point is 00:03:27 So that's the song they're singing. How the fuck does that kid know anything about Hawaii? I put a lay on you, I've got to give you a kiss. I don't want you to do that. I have to give you a curse. Fuschunke furs you. I love that she's like the mostthat right off the bat. They're just like, oh, Otis is a petter ass, is putting petter ass shit on other people because he's just watching them with binoculars from the woods. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:53 Uh, it's like all. Civil servants, man. Just getting a lot of you are great. These guys are a real piece of shit. He is. It reminds you of all those dudes you see in like the kill your local pedophile t-shirt you're like dude let me get your hard drive let me see your hard drive real quick it's absolutely you you bought that t-shirt because it came up in your googling pedophile
Starting point is 00:04:16 hmmmah man so yeah the mailman odys is watching them and then we cut to Harlis working on his woodchipper, and I was like, oh shit, check-offs wood shipper. I wrote it right there. We have been doing this long enough that we have the same thoughts. We could really just do this with just one of us. And then Alan said, oh, sorry, Katie has been made redundant. No, if anyone's there- Stop it, you have all the equipment over here.
Starting point is 00:04:49 You bought the mic stands. It is my cousin Joe's mixer though. It's true. It is my 12-year-old laptop that we're recording on. It only gives me a heart attack sometimes. So he's drinking and woodchipping, which is the thing I really like. Sure, yeah, yeah. I love that Harlis, like no matter what he's doing, he has like a slits in his hand, he's
Starting point is 00:05:13 just like, yeah, anyway. I like him a lot. I think he's a good actor. I like how wide he can get his eyes where you see whites all the way around which I think is insane. He's just chew and scenery. Every time he gets a chance to say anything he's like, well I'll tell you. I just love it. When Harlis, Otis, Skeeter and... Big guy. Yeah, big guy. What's the big guy's name? Philby get together. When they all get together, Missing they like, how old do you think these guys are? So Katie, how old do you, you could just give me over under?
Starting point is 00:05:52 For each of them? Like, yeah. Give me like a, what age do you think they might be? Philby, the big guy. He is 49. He's 48. Okay, all right. Yeah. Yeah. He's 48. OK, all right. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:06 He's the only one I feel confident in that. He's my age. Yeah, he's his style. His personal style is very different from yours. But he doesn't look old. He just presents as old. Yeah, it's the pants. It's the slacks.
Starting point is 00:06:22 Charles Durning, aka Otis Hazelrig. He's a white hair. He doesn't, he, he he, he he, he he, he he, he he, he he, he he, he he, he he, he he, he he, he he, he th, he th, he th, he th, he th, he th, he th, he just th, he's the pants, it's the slacks. Charles Durning, aka Otis Hazelrig. He's white hair, and he doesn't move very well. No. 67. Okay, he's 50. Oh no! He looks so much worse than big guy though. Philby?
Starting point is 00:06:41 Yeah. Oh, no, I'm going to call him big guy. That's all I call him. How old do you think Harless is?? thia? thia? thia? thi thi thi thi thi th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, th, thi, thi, thi, th, th, th, th, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, th. That's all I call him. Yeah. Harless. How old do you think Harless is? See, I feel like he's younger than I think because I feel like I saw him in things in the 90s in 2000s where he looks like a middle-aged man. Yeah. Yeah. But he's still very weathered. Yeah. He's really tan. He's really tan. He's a guy who's th. th. th. he's th. he's he's he's still he's still very he's still very he's still very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very weather. Right. Yeah. 46. Yeah, there about. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:13 Yeah. All right. Okay. Yeah. And then Skeeter is like just 40, I think. I have no idea. Yeah, he could be anywhere from 28 to 73. Wow, Otis Hazelrig looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that. that. that. that's that's that be anywhere from 28 to 73. Wow, Otis Hazelrig looks like shit. But also if I didn't know that Lane Smith, if I didn't have other experience with Lane Smith,
Starting point is 00:07:31 I would have thought he was 56. But Otis Hazelrig also lived to like 2004, 2005, like he was in stuff in the 2000s. I don't know him. Charles Durning is in a ton of stuff. Do I know him from things? Tell me what I've seen. I want to say he was an old brother where Arthel but I might be wrong about that. Oh have you never seen that? It's delightful. Is it? Yeah. Yeah. It's really fun. It's George Clutie being charming, who doesn't like that? Oh, fair enough. And John DeToro? I do love John DeTurro? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. to. Yeah. to. to. Yeah. to. to. to. to. Yeah. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to to to they. the. the. to the th. the th. th. th. th. I th. I th. I th. I th. Got that. Oh, buried in Arlington National Cemetery because he had a silver star, bronze star and purple heart.
Starting point is 00:08:13 Oh yeah. Yeah, serve this country. Okay, thank you for your service. Oh to see the break. on Christmas Eve. Oh, hmm. That's hard for your family. Santa took him home? Holy Christ. That was too far. Yeah. Oh, Lane Smith is dead, huh? Oh, yeah, no. No, no one's alive from this movie. Fair enough. Oh, God, he had ALS. Brutal. Oh, he? Oh did he? Yeah. His son is Robert Smith though. Did you know that? From the cure? Tanya Crow aka Mary Lee is still alive. I would hope so. She's my age? Question mark. No she's 1971. I keep thinking it's 1988. It's not 1981. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So she was, but she was like 11. th. thi. th. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he he he he he he he he. he. he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. the. the. the. the. the. the. the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the th. the th. the the the the th. th. the the the th. the the the the the the the th. I keep thinking it's 1988. It's not 1981. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So she was, but she was like 11 in this movie. Fine. She's not even, she's older than I am and I'm old as dirt. I'm old as Philby. Oh boy. I just got real
Starting point is 00:09:19 confused like she can't be older than Philby. Let's move on from this. How old are the actors in this movie then and now? It was that thing of when you like see a picture of the traveling Wilburys from when they came out in the 90s and we're like, oh my god they're so old and like some of them are in their 30s and you're just like the fuck is happening. Rob was watching Frazier the other night. Rau, their th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th th thee, thee, thi, thee, thee, thi, th. th. th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi. thi. thi. thee, thee, thi. thee, thee, thee, thee, thee, thi. th on. I am the same age as Kelsey Grammer in that first season. Ross is seven years younger than me. For real. For real. Wow.
Starting point is 00:09:52 Yeah. I mean, I look great. You look fantastic. I don't look like Kelsey Grammar in the first season of Frazier. So there's that. Everyone do yourself a favor and Google Kelsey Grammer falling off stage. It's a god damn delight. I will do that later.
Starting point is 00:10:09 Have you never seen that video? No. He's like talking and he's going. So that's when I was at the United Nations. Oh! It falls off the stage. Why is that so funny? I know because it's him.
Starting point is 00:10:21 This is where I have the note, I feel like Clue Gulliger should be in this movie. Yes, this is sorely lacking a Clue Gulliger. So Otis sees the two of them, like, he sees Mary Lee, Mary Lee kiss Bubba, and he's like, they're up to no good, because I'm a pet her ass. Such a piece of shit. So he goes and rounds up the town dickheads, who I only refer to these guys as the town dickheads in my notes. Yeah. Then we see Bubba and Mary Lee walking home and she is just a mischievous little scamp. She is a scamp. And she goes into the neighbor's yard because they have a gnome fountain. Look at all those fucking gnomes, send Alan an email. He'll tell me about it.
Starting point is 00:11:08 Leave us a voicemail. Yeah, leave us a voicemail. 412-407, 7025. You got it, yeah. Look at you. I'm good at numbers. You got a hand of numbers. Let me tell you.
Starting point is 00:11:23 I select. Man say that mango. So she sneaks into the gnome garden and there is a dog in there with her. Fuck that dog. And so the dog attacks her and we see Otis fucking Koolaid Manning down a fence. Cut to Bubba does to say her yeah. Buba. It's cut to Bubba, then carrying her home. We're told she's dead. We're told she's dead. Dead from a dog attack. I would imagine looks like dead from a dog attack. Sure. Not just some scratches.
Starting point is 00:11:54 Not, but also you'd be like an animal attacked her. Yeah. How does any of this happen? Anyway, Otis yells, let's get the dogs and the guns, which is just a line in this movie. And the town dickheads go, okay, that sounds good. I like that the guy brings out the dogs, puts up in the truck. He doesn't get in the truck. Whose dogs are those? He just stays behind?
Starting point is 00:12:12 He's like, I'll give you the dogs, gun horn honk or that's like but-bop-bup-bop-bup-bup-bup and then like the dogs jump on and they go somewhere else and do it again and a guy jumps on to the gun and it's like okay you've got a guns and dogs honk. I love that they do that and we still only smells like. No, we don't. I have no idea. Yeah, no, I don't. So Bubba goes on the run because he's now scared because he's seen a lot of things and he has developmental issues and he is scared. He's scared and we learned that these men have fucked with him before. Yeah So he knows to be afraid of like the town people. Because the town dickett, he runs home to his mom. Who's lovely?
Starting point is 00:13:09 She's great. She has the last name Brando and I need to know if she's related to Marlon Brando. That's Jocelyn Brando. And she is the brother. What's that? It's her brother. What's that? It's her brother! It's her brother. It's her brother. I feel like he could have got her more work.
Starting point is 00:13:29 She was great. Come on, Marlon. Yes, she had had. Actually, she had a lot of, she had a lot of good roles. I'm sure. Oh, she was in Mommy Dearest. She was in Mommy. She was now. She played the mommy? Or the dearest? Neither. Oh, you know how much I love that movie. I do. I do. She was Barbara Bennett. You won't let me have a single wire hanger because of it. Um.
Starting point is 00:13:53 Uh-huh! Sorry. Glad you don't have your headphones on today. Sorry you're sitting a foot and a half from me. We're sitting on the same couch. I don't think we've ever done this before for a recording. No, I I I I I've. I've. I've to to to their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. the the the the the the the the the the their. their. the the their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. We're sitting on the same couch, I don't think we've ever done this before for a recording. No, I've turned fully 90 degrees so I can look right at you. But I do have pillows separating, so you can't get to me. So I won't like try to touch your lap. Let's keep this professional game. So he goes home to his mom and mom's like, hey, you remember that time that you hid in the place, go hide. Play the hiding game. Yeah. So he goes to hide.
Starting point is 00:14:28 And then mom can, the dickheads come to the house so she confronts him. And she's like, will you leave him the fuck alone, you fucking dickheads? And you're not the law. He's wearing, he's like has this government job really went to his head being a male carrier. He also wears that nothing you never see him in anything other than the mail carrier uniform usually with the hat. One of those hats called? Oh I don't know. Oh a pith helmet. Is that what it's called? Yeah, a pith helmet? Like pith like the sour part of a fruit? Yeah. Hmm. It's not very cool. No, no. No, but that, but he that that that that that that that that that that that that that that is is that that is that is that is that is that that that is that is that is that that is that is that is that's that's that's that's that's th. th. th thi th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th th. th. th. th. th. th th the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the thi thi thi thi thi thi thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi thi thi the sour part of a fruit? Yeah. Hmm. It's not very cool. No. No. But he has pithed off.
Starting point is 00:15:11 Oh. Dad has entered the chat. Someone calls, I think the mom calls them egg suckers, which I like a lot? Oh no, Otis refers to the dog as an egg-sucking dog, which is the thing people used to say to dogs. Why? I don't know, but it's in a Johnny Cash song. That's why I know egg-sucked dog. Oh yeah, do you have egg suckers, question mark? So Bubba is hiding inside the scarecrow. Yeah. He's gotten into the suit basically. So we see his terrified eyes inside of the scarecrow mask. Inside of the burlap, the scariest of all fabrics. So what do the town dickheads do when they find him in the scarecrow?
Starting point is 00:15:55 They shoot him. They take turns shooting him a bunch of times. His mom doesn't come out or anything. No. Yeah. Yeah.'m just thinking there must be a cop in this town. Because there's a lot of shots fired. Yeah. Like it, it might be overkill. If you've been to farmland, there's a lot of shots going on most of the time. Oh yeah, I guess so, huh? Got to shoot your corn right off the stock. Is that how you get it down? You gotta shoot your shot, you know what I mean? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:28 So we learned that Mary Lee is indeed not dead. She's going to be fine. Not only is she not dead, they released her from the clinic half an hour ago, which they have run down to Baba's house, physically literally run. So she must have been there for 15 minutes and they were like, you fine. That's the extent of her injuries. The cops call to Harless and they're like, hey man, you know what, the girl's fine.
Starting point is 00:16:57 This has all been a big mistake. He actually saved her life. He cool-aid manned his way through the fence, which is what they say in the movie, and she's fine. Yeah. Commercial break. Yeah, you can tell. Yeah. Very funny. Like Twitchy guy, or Twitchy guy who is also dumb guy is like being twitchy and dumb and then it like fades out. And you're like, yep, that's where you put it. And then it cuts back to they're in court on trial for the killing of Bubba. Sorry, they put the pitchfork in his hand. Oh, that's right.
Starting point is 00:17:29 But he's still tied up. Yeah. How are they menaced by a man who was tied up? And why does allegory. Yeah. I was like, oh, okay, okay, I see now. You got that out in 1981, he snuck it in there, look at you guys. Objection, objection, your honor. Every time he says it, objection, objection, your honor. I love that guy.
Starting point is 00:17:56 I love the lawyer, the, I guess district attorney, who's the most like, C L U lawyer that's ever showed up anywhere. He also looks exhausted. So tired so many bags under his eyes. Tarkas circles under his eyes. He has not slept in months. He's been working on this bumma case. I guess so. Because he knows that these guys are just dickheads. Part of the court proceedings in this universe are just screaming at the other attorney and having that attorney scream back at you and then the judge asking questions of the witness and then deciding everyone's fate. Ah, lawyers to approach the bench. I can't have you two yelling to each other.
Starting point is 00:18:33 I'm gonna let this guy go because you two are yelling too much and upset in my agita. I thought they were being tried the same day because he was wearing his work uniforms still and then they like cut over to the defendant's table and they were all wearing the same clothes. Like I guess that happened, huh? TV movie, that's the one set of wardrobe the guy. Yeah, Harlis is gonna wear that shirt and he's gonna like it. And Otis is just bald-faced lying to the judge. Yeah, here I had hoped that he would go into the woodchipper. Yeah, he does not. He does not. The judge is like, because these men are members of the community, I'm gonna let them go. Yeah. Just everyone's a member of the community. Yana. I think that was code for white guys. Sure. Yeah. No evidence. No case. And then Mrs. Ritter was like, there's other laws. the the the th. th. the th. the th. the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. th. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. he's hea. hea. Yeah. he's he's hea. Yeah. hea. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. hea. Yeah. Yeah. hea. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. hea. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. he. Yeah. he. he. Yeah. he. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the th. th. th. the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. he. he. he. he. case. No case. And then Mrs. Ritter was like, there's other laws besides man's law.
Starting point is 00:19:28 Other justice in this world besides the law. Yeah. Which I like a lot. Yeah. Because they should know because they're vigilante justice guys. Exactly. Yeah. She's going to curse them. And Otis says something about fried chicken to the DA. And then in the next scene, it's just Lane Smith screaming, fried chicken over and over. And then all of them going, ma'am! And the whole town celebrates the fact that they got off. Which is insane.
Starting point is 00:19:58 You're the mailman, I'm so proud of you. And so then we see a conversation between Mary Lee's parents where, okay so it's like, some, this is insane, the time of this movie is insane. Yeah. Enough time has gone by that these men were taken in, arraigned, you know, had some sort of court proceeding scheduled and executed, you know. Mary Lee is still... 11? Bedridden? Or somewhat? And they're like, we haven't told her anything yet. It's like it must have been weeks. And her dad's like, just don't ever tell her anything.
Starting point is 00:20:33 She'll forget. It's like she's 10. She has object permanence at this point. No. You've forgotten everything that's ever happened to you at 10 years of age. I mean, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, to you at 10 years of age. I mean, yeah. It's a scientific fact. And like, no one's sort of about Bubba, but the Daisy chain is still alive. And they've been to court.
Starting point is 00:20:51 How much time has passed? Okay. I guess there was fuck all happening in this town. I mean, it may really have happened they're like, yeah, I'm not sure. So she's like, cool, I'm gonna put on my slippies and go find him. Yeah, look at she just goes on into their house. She puts on a tap in a dressing robe. She does, who gives a child that? She's walking out of the house, she's going, she's going to fuck you up with you going, she, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, and she, and she, and she, and she, to, to, and she, and she, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, the to, to, to, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, the the th.. So. So. So, to to to to to to to too, too, too, too, too, too, too, too, too, too, too, to to tho doesn't lock the door after this happened.
Starting point is 00:21:25 Man, she's gonna fuck you up if you're coming around. It's true, that's fair. She's a brand-o. Also, she should not have to explain death to this child. I hate it for her. She's so compassionate when she does though. Yeah, because they both loved him. Yeah. It's really sweet. And then she's like, no, I'm going to go find Bubba. Yeah, well, she was like, I know he's still there or something.
Starting point is 00:21:47 Yeah. He's just somewhere else, or I don't know, yeah. So she goes out to where the scarecrow was and starts playing with flowers and singing. Merrily, you crazy. You're crazy. You're crazy. You can hit your head when that dog bitch out. He's not gone. He's tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. to to to to th. to th. to th. to thi. to to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to to to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get thi. He's thi. He's thi. He's thi. He's thi. He's thi. He's thi. Hea. Hea. Hea. Hea. Hea. Hea. Hea. Hea. Hea. Hea. Hea. Hea. Hea. Hea. Hea. Hea. Hea. He's too. He's too. He's to to bitch out. He's not gone, he's playing the hiding game. Yes. Yeah. Mmm. Baba. Which is ominous and I can see if you were a 12-year-old watching this movie they'd be like, what? I am a 38-year-old watching this movie and I was like, oh,
Starting point is 00:22:18 oh, that's good. That's really good. It's definitely better than Hyde and Clap. Come on. Was that insidious, conjuring? It doesn't matter. It's the conjuring. All right. So Otis is delivering mail. Reading Boudoir magazine.
Starting point is 00:22:36 Which, like, we see him look at it like as if that's going to take away from the person who gets it later. I get these titties first. Yeah, first dibs on your tits. But he takes it out of the brown paper wrapper too. Oh did he? I missed that. Yeah, I can't do that. And I was like, man, stop believing that guy's tittief. But maybe it's gonna be like the Halloween party from Hackelanern. Just tits everywhere at the church Halloween party. Worse, maybe it's the lock-in. Uh, so we see, uh, is it Harlis that sees?
Starting point is 00:23:20 Oh yes, Harlis sees the scarecrow. Because his wife is like, if you, are you planting? And he's like, of course, I'm not planting, the ha, the ha, the ha, the ha, the ha, the ha, the ha, the ha, the ha, the ha, the ha, the ha, the ha, the ha, the ha, the ha, the ha, th. thi! thi. thi. thi. thioling, thioling party, thi. thi. th. th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th. th. But, th. But, th. But, th. But, th. But, th. But, th. But, th. But, th. But, th. It's going, th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thoo. thoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. th. th.recrow. Because his wife is like, if you're, are you planting? And he's like, of course I'm not planting, you dumb, dumb, dumb woman, women are dumb and I know dumb women. Why would I plant now? And she's like, well, if you're not planting, why would you put up a scarecrow? Which is a very good line. Yeah, and it's very good because it's all shot from her looking, woodchipper. He's like filing the serial number off of it. I could not figure out what he was doing. I believe he's filing the teeth on the woodchipper to make them sharp for chip in the woods.
Starting point is 00:23:48 I assumed he was making it untraceable. I'm going to use this woodchipper to crime. He is a criminal! Fun loving though, a fun loving criminal. He can open his eyes so wide. to. to. to. to. to. to to to to to to to to to the the to to to the to the to to to their. their. their to their their their to to their to their to to their their their their to to their to their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their. I theirrecrow, it's like his eyes are like just 70% of his face. And he's pissed when he sees it. Yeah, he doesn't go up and check it out though. No, he leaves. He immediately runs to you, Sam! Sam! Yes, they are so convinced that the district attorney is behind this, even when they've been murdered. So they go see Otis. In the boarding house. Yes. The boarding house is giving me ghost Mr. Chicken vibe so I'm very into that. Yes but his room is bleak as fuck. I feel like they all came in and they were like oh shit this is depressing. Why do you have a bust
Starting point is 00:24:39 of Napoleon and like a portrait of I think Patton? It's a velvet painting? What are you doing in here? How do we say he's an awful person without putting a picture of Hitler in his bedroom? That'll do it. He's like, I told you never to come over here. How does it look?
Starting point is 00:24:57 And it's like, well, weren't you guys friends before? It would be weird if you had committed a crime and then you stopped hanging out, right? I don't, I don't, the Otis' rationales on things is very bizarre. Yeah. This isn't the dinner scene is it? Does that happen later? That happens later? Okay, okay. Yes, they all go over, because the landlady comes up and she's like, you've got visitors and he's like, oh la la la, I wonder if it's one of the male ladies? thu. th. I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th, th, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I'm, I'm, I'm, th. th. thi. th. th. thi. th. th. th. th. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th.s in his mailman shirt. Yeah he was sleeping in the middle of the day because he's a drunk even though we're told he doesn't drink. Yeah. Which I don't know what the point of that is. I think that's supposed to say that he's just even more of an asshole because he's judgmental of other people for drinking even though he's's like, I don't understand.
Starting point is 00:25:45 And I was like, sir, I don't either. Otis is breaking up with you. Yeah. And he pitches the idea that it's the DA. It must be the DA. Yeah, because he's the only one to know. And the DA was like, if I find any single shred of evidence, I'm thi. Oh my god. This is where I wrote, this movie is totally bereft of logic. But still somehow enjoyable. Oh my gosh, I genuinely loved it. I wish I had as much time to drink as these guys do.
Starting point is 00:26:18 This is the fucking, it's pretty much the 70s so you just drink all the time anywhere. I love that. I love that. Back to the idea of road soda, you just have a beer between your legs while you're driving around. We just need fewer cars on the road so you're less likely to hit them, right? Sure, and less safety protocols in the cars than if you do hit something. More likely to die. Yeah, I'll take the bus. Scream the kids about Soundgarden. I love the bus.
Starting point is 00:26:50 Didn't you scream at kids about Soundgarden? I didn't scream at them, I admonished them because they didn't know who Soundgarden was and I don't understand just because my voice raises doesn't mean I'm screaming. How do you not know who Soundgarden is? I did yell. Listen to fill on black days, it'll change your life. Now it fucking won't. Those kids don't only listen to it. They're like, is this ever going to kick in?
Starting point is 00:27:13 Not really. I love you so much. I hate myself. So we go back to Harlis. He goes look for the scarecrow but it's missing. Right. And then there's somebody in his hayloft. It's woodchiper time. And he kicks the stick over that was holding the scarecrow up and I was like, good job. Good move. Nailed it talk. Exert some control over the situation. So the woodchipper turns on and then he turns it off, and then there's something in the hayloft.
Starting point is 00:27:47 Right above the mouth of the woodchipper. And he keeps going, Sam, cut it out, Sam. And it's like thinking the DA is about to shove you into a woodchipper is the fucking funniest. So he goes up and he hears something slam up in the hayloft. He goes up there and he's looking around and he's like being real trepidacious and then like he's drunk so he falls. Because he's always drunk and see aforementioned previous issues drinking all the time.
Starting point is 00:28:18 The woodchipper turns on he falls into the woodchipper. Cut to red jelly being put on Otis's plate. I love it. Chef's kiss. I mean. Nah. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. the. the. the. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the thi. the the thi. thi. thi. the the the hea. hea. hea. hea. hea. hea. hea. Not since the meat cut in Bram Stokers Dracula that made you puke up because you were pregnant. I think that would, yeah, I think that would have turn my tummy either way, but sure did make me barf. But it was such a good cut to, like we can't show blood, but we can show someone plating red jelly. Yes. you know put your preserves on your plate like you do. So you can dip in it? Why? Before you put bacon on top of it apparently. Oh you think bacon and jelly is a good combo? Probably. Are you fucking joking me? Of course it is. Salty and sweet together? Katie. I haven't had bacon in years, I don't know. Sorry. Fake bacon ain't the same. thick. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. to th. to to to th. to to to to th. to th. th. to to to the. to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to too. too. the the the the the the the the the the tip the the tip the tip the tip the tip the tip tip tip toe toe.a toe. Fake bacon ain't the same. No, it's gross.
Starting point is 00:29:05 It's just, it's like smoke. Yeah, it's good. Yeah, that's like a food. I went to Aptecca the other day and they had a smoke beer. And I was like, what is this? Let me get that? It just, it's Yeah, if you live in Pittsburgh or visit Pittsburgh you should go to Apptecca. Yeah, you like parogees? You like delicious?
Starting point is 00:29:29 You know what a paroge is? You know what a parogey is? I don't know. Pais is where they don't have many Polish people. Big ups to everyone has contacted to say, we to to to say, to say, to say, to say, to say, to say, to say, to say, to say, to say, to say, to say, to say, to say, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you like, you like, you like, you like, you to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to their, you, you, you, you like, you like, you like, you like, you like, you like, you like, you know, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, they. their their to their their to to to to to to to to to to to to to to say, we've got french fries on our salads here too. Okay, suck a dick. Though I did learn that ranch on pizza is like a Midwest thing, not a Pittsburgh thing. Makes sense, yeah. So, I seem to have written myself a note here. I wish someone cooked all my meals. Maybe I should move to a boarding house. It does sound like a nice life, right? Like you have to eat dinner with these people. You may or may not like them, but someone cooked you, you woke up, there's flap jacks and bacon.
Starting point is 00:30:09 I will take that. And just a plate of fried eggs? I was like, yes, please. Give me that. Someone passes him the plate and they're like, oh, you missed to Lane Smith's house. What's his name, Harless? Harless, yeah. We cut to Harlis' house and they're taking him out on a gurney and I was like, yeah, what are you taking on the gurney?
Starting point is 00:30:31 Well, first one, he's having his breakfast, his housemate? His housemate? Who knows? What theymeat? What to Mar. He's dead now, you know. Wow. And notice is like, oh, let's, let me drive the mail truck over and say what's going on. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:52 I love that that's his, his like personal joyriding vehicle is something the fucking taxpayers are funding. Now he's the great detective. Wow. Can I ask a quick question? Yeah. Why is the DA at the scene of this accident? Okay. Yeah. Like go home Sam, you're tired. You need a nap. Sam, you're so tired. You look like Vince Vaugh and go home. And Mary Lee can, was she at this crime scene or an accident scene? No. Because at this, okay. She hasn't become a weird ghost in the movie yet. I just have a note that she can really sneer great stink eye on that kid.
Starting point is 00:31:36 She might have been, maybe I just didn't take a note on that. It seemed like a lot of people were crowding around this town. Yeah, yeah, yeah, not much going on in this dumbtown. Oh, I th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi. I thi. I thi. I thi. I thi. I thi. I thi. thi. I thi. I thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. the the the the to thee to to to thoooooooooooooooooooo. the. the. the. take a note on that. It seemed like a lot of people were crowding around. Yeah, yeah, not much going on in this dumbtown. Oh, I think he may have gone back to Mrs. Ritter's house and she may have been there. Oh, because he's being so terrible to Mrs. Ritter, which is crazy because he knows he knows he murdered her son. Oh, that little girl for or something. Oh God. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:07 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yes. And it only gets worse later. Gross. He sucks so bad. He's so gross.
Starting point is 00:32:15 Why didn't he go in the woodchipper? Because he has to die and must more ridiculous stuff. I do have a tough, oh Miss Ritter, she a tough lady. She's a tough, tough, tough, tough lady. Now we see that Philby has a scarecrow? Good thing these guys all have farms, yeah? Even when they showed the mechanic, I was like, how are they going to get a scarecrow in here?
Starting point is 00:32:38 Which turns out to the scarecrow on his land. Cut to Halloween party? Where Otis is apparently going as a Merrill Man. He literally gets no other wardrobe. They couldn't even let him wear his street clothes. I do love where he's looking through that skull window decoration though. It's like a great shot. It really was. Yeah. So this is where he like corners Mary Lee in the hallway? Yes. Yes. And Mary Lee's like, Bubba told me, he told me everything. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:15 Yeah. And he's like, I'm a sex pist. And the cop sees him and it's like, hey, officer, where are you all the sex best, but it's like 1981 and we don't do anything about it right now. Well, then I thought he might have just been a townsperson dressed as a cop because it's Halloween. I said, the cop tell.
Starting point is 00:33:32 I said, the cop the movie. Yeah. That should have been more skidaddling. And Philby and the Mechanics show up and they like bum-rush the show. I love their song in the living year. The Philby and the Mechanics. Oh, that song will make it cry. Will it? Yeah, I don't know. Says the guy who has cried to dancing in the dark by Bruce Springsteed. Oh boy. Is it the I want to change my, yeah, I know it is. I know it is. My hair, my clothes, my, my clothes, my hair, my face. Face. Oh, fuck. So Philbie and the mechanic.
Starting point is 00:34:16 Find him at the party, you're like, you're gonna go see the scarecrow. And they threaten Otis with going to the cops, because you're like, I don't like this. Yeah, it's intimidating. It's scary. They go out there and the cicadas are so loud in this scene. I couldn't hear a fucking word anyone was saying. I don't know what to go to the cops, I mean I'll probably do something, I don't know what it is, a mailman, what am I gonna do? Yeah, really, what is he gonna do? I don't know, but he's like the town bully. Yeah. And then he goes on to do the worst shit that he's done so far in this movie. Go fucking try to kill Mrs. Ritter? Yeah, because he he believes that she's the one behind the the one the one the one thagh. thagagagagagh. Yeah. Yeah, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi is thi's thi's thi. thi. thi. Yeah, thi. thi's their thi's thi's thi. thi's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he. Yeah, he. Yeah, he. Yeah, he. Yeah, he. Yeah, he. Yeah, he's he's he's he's he's the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the thi. Yeah. Yeah. thin. toe. toe. too' is like, too' is like, too' is like, too' is like, too' is like, too' too' too' too' too' too' to' too' thinks is the one putting scarecrows all over the town and taunting him. She is a tough old thing though.
Starting point is 00:35:05 She has no fear. Sure. If she wanted to bust his ass, she would just go bust his ass. She wouldn't do a fright campaign against him. No, she wouldn't. No. She's in time. I guess. Pearl knit. Pearl knit. She puts on the kettle. She puts on the kettle. She comes back and sits in her chair and he appears from
Starting point is 00:35:32 behind the chair and puts his hand around her face. Yeah. She does not bite him. No. She does not stab him with a knitting needle, which is such a missed opportunity. She doesn't. He broke into your home. You're allowed to do that. Yeah. Yeah. And then he, uh, kills her. Yeah, which has a heart attack. Yeah. But he is, it's his fault. It's his fault. For sure, he's a murderer.
Starting point is 00:35:55 And then the kettle whistles and scares him. So he looks at the gas, the fire, the gas, the fire, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, and fire, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, and, and fire, and gas, it, it's, it, it's, it, it's, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and gas, and gas, and gas, and fire, and fire, and fire, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, gas, fire, fire, fire, the gas, the fire, gas, fire, gas, fire, like a movie. I know what's going to happen. He causes the house to explode. Yeah, and then the house explodes. Yeah, like a real house does. Poor Mary Lee, this is a lot for her. Yeah, that she finds the last vestige of this world that connected her to her friend Bubba is now dead. Yeah, and she seemed to have a tender relationship with Mrs. Ritter. And then the next scene we see her just cradling a doll staring into space, and I was like, well, she's not well. She's gonna kill somebody.
Starting point is 00:36:32 Yeah. Uh, Philby and the mechanic seemed shook is a note that I have. Yeah, the mechanic is like filling up someone's tank while the the the and he's just like, ugh! It's like the drudgery of small business ownership. Also, why is he never clean? He's always filthy. That's how you know he's a mechanic. Oh, okay. Gotcha.
Starting point is 00:36:54 It's weird to see a scarecrow here. Like what if it just rolled up in a car and was like, ding? It's got hydraulics. I love that. Cut to nighttime at the corn silo with a grange or whatever it would be called. Who knows? Green silo. Grain silo. And the pigs are going nuts. Yeah. And then he finds like the source of the sound which was a hanging chain. It's like, ah, that old hanging chain gag. Why I oughta. But then he turns around and a figure in his house turns off the lights. I loved, I thought that was super spooky.
Starting point is 00:37:33 And that's supposed to be Bubba, right? The ghost of Bubba? But it isn't. Also, I wanted to compliment Philby when he comes around the corner with that axe handle and he assumes like a batting position I was like this guy's played some ball. Yeah, he's got a good stance. Philby was a catcher for sure till he blew his knees out. It's smart for him to go for his car. Yeah. But alas. It will not start. It will not start and then instead of running when the car won't start he checks under the hood which is crazy because he's like being chased. Well, maybe I'll just fix it real quick. It's like, I know your friend's a mechanic and he taught you some things, but like,
Starting point is 00:38:08 run! What did Skeeter say to do when I did this again? He's poking his finger into like the thing that spins, you know? The spinny part. Yeah, the spinny part. You part you sometimes have to put your finger in. What? What part of a car is that? You know, it's under the hood. You know, you gotta wake the hamster up that makes a thing go. I don't know why you don't know what I'm talking about. Anyway, he runs to the green silo.
Starting point is 00:38:40 Yeah, it hides inside of a fucking silo. Don't go in there. Ever. Question. Question. Question. Question. Question. Question. Question. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. to to toe. thi. thi. toe. tooome. too, too. too. too. too. too. too. to toe. toe. What. toe. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. What. the. thea. to-a. toea. toea. What, toea. What, toea. What, toea. What. What, thea. What. What. What. Don't go in there. Ever. Question. Yes. This is a question I wrote in my notes for last week's movie, but it's really more appropriate here. Why don't grain silos have ladders in them? Sure. Why?
Starting point is 00:38:56 It's not that expensive if you're going to put up this big structure. Put some fucking rungs in there. Yeah. Yeah. Anyway, who could have seen this coming? The door is locked. Oh and he's he's freaking out. I mean this is upsetting, nay, terrifying, right? Yeah. Yeah. Here comes the corn exclamation point. What a terrible way to die. What a terrible way to die. The old dry drowning. And then he dies. And then whoever it is, turns off the corn. Yeah. Yeah. And seemingly cleans the belt because there's no corn whatsoever on it. Anyway, dumb guy is dumb. That's my next note. So Otis is like, hey dumb guy, let's go dig up the body. Yeah. To prove that he's dead. And he goes, he's under five yards of ground. I thought, 15 feet. They dug Bubba down 15 feet. Well, is that square feet?
Starting point is 00:39:48 Oh, maybe you're right. Maybe it's five square yards. That still seems like a lot. Five square feet. So that's like, thiiwa fiats. So that's like, three feet wide. That's like 18 square feet. And then six feet down. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 00:40:08 I hate that that guy's smarter than me. Skier with the quick math. I called him dumb guy. That would be more like a hundred. Yeah. that'd be a hundred feet. Yeah. So, divided by three. It's still like, yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi-I. thi-I. thi-I-I-I-like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, thi-I. th-a-a-a-a-like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, th-like, th-like, th-like, th-like, th-like, th. th. th. th-like, th-like, th-s. th-s. th-s. th-s. th-s. th-s. th-s. th-s. th-s. th-s, like, like, like, thi-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s. thi-s. thea-s. thi-s. thea-s. thea-s. thea because we're talking in feet. Yeah. So divided by three. It's still like, yeah, it's like 33 yards. I don't know what he's talking about
Starting point is 00:40:28 five yards up ground. But even when they dig him up, I was like, that is not 15 feet, it's not even six. He's like a foot and a half below the soil. So that much of a hole by hand, I'm done. Not when you're the mechanic. No. No. And not when I'm tubb-tubby Otis either. So, so Otis like tackles him. Yeah. Yeah. And he's, I don't know. I forget what happens.
Starting point is 00:40:56 Actually, I think I'm missing some notes. Oh, you mean when Odus hits him in the head, tack, the head, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the to. Oh. Oh. Oh, to. Oh, the to. Oh, to. Oh, the to. Oh, to. Oh, to. Oh, to. Oh, to. Oh, to. Oh, to. Oh, to. Oh, to. Oh, to. Oh, to. Oh, to. Oh, to. Oh, to. Oh, him in the head with a shovel, that's right. And then I love when he pulls it back up and the hat is stuck to the shovel. I just felt like dumb guys should have been able to take Otis. That you were going to say take a shovel to the head. Yeah. There's just a gong and him like, what, do it again? I'm Skeeter. So he, Otis hits his flask and drives, th, th, th, th, th, th, the th, th, th, th, the, th, th, the, th, th, th, the, the th, th, the their, th, their, their, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I'm, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I just, I, I, I, I just, I, I, I, I. I, I, I, I, I, I, I. I, I, I. I, I, I, I. I, I. I. I, I, I. I, I. I. I, I. I, I. I. I, I. I, I, I, I. I. I, I. I, I, I'm, I'm. I'm, I'm just, I'm just, I'm just, I'm just, I'm just just, to, to, to. Just, just just just just. Just, to. Just, to. Just, I just just just, I'm just just just, he buries Skeeter in there. Yeah, and then hits his flask and drives away. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:41:29 Definitely add DUI to your repertoire in a taxpayer-funded vehicle. And then off-road it. Because he sees Mary Lee in the road. Yeah. And once again, her taff at a gal. She goes to chase her down. Frankly, he's a wheeling in this off-roading scene. Yeah, he's doing great. Also, there's nothing about that car that says it should be able to go off-road.
Starting point is 00:41:51 Oh my god, no. A TV mail truck. He crashes unsurprisingly. I mean, why wouldn't you? We've been joined by a guest. It's a dog. It's a fucking dog. Oh now you want to be quiet. So he sees Merrily running and he chases her on foot. This is where I was like, oh he's doing this to chase down a child. Or maybe it really is Bubba Spirit or counterpoint, the DA. Sam. Then he still thinks it's the DA too. He's yelling at him at the farm equipment. He's like, Sam cut it out. There there. There. There. There. There. There. There. There. There. There. There. There. There. There, there. There, there. There are the the there. There are the the the the there are the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. the. the to the to the to to to the the to the the tho the. the. the. the still thinks it's the DA too. He's yelling at him that the farm equipment,
Starting point is 00:42:25 he's like, Sam, cut it out. There are many people are dead. But also counter counterpoint, I like the idea that Bubba's Ghost can operate farm equipment. Is that machine just there to pick pumpkins? You know, I don't know. Because it's like a bulldozer thing, but then it has like a gate on it that comes up and down down. to to to to to to the to the the the the the the the the the the the th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. the. the. the. th. th. tham. th. tham. tham. tham. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. Because it's like a bulldozer thing, but then it has like a gate on it that comes up and down. To scoop things up off the ground. Yeah, I don't know. I guess it could be used for any sort of ground squash. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:42:53 And then they're just crushing pumpkins, the crui pumpkins pumpkins to get more pumpkins to grow more pumpkins to grow more pumpkins to grow more pumpkins to get more pumpkins and knitting? So he's being chased by this piece of farm equipment. He could make a lateral move. He does not make a lateral move he just walks right in front of it. So good. And then he runs into the scarecrow which is holding a pitchfork and stabs him in the guts. You suck hazel rig. Get your shit together, Otis. I do love the effect of like the farm equipment machine pumpkin grabber just like turning off and the headlights going out. I like that a lot. Yeah. I like that the it's a very conservationist ghost. It's like I don't want to just leave this th th th th th th th th th th th th th the fuel the fuel the fuel the fuel the fuel the fuel the fuel the fuel the fuel the fuel the fuel. the fuel. the fuel. the fuel. the fuel. the fuel. their. th. th. th. th. they. Yeah. Yeah. th. th. their. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. te. te. te. t. t. t. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. It's like, I don't want to just leave this running. No, we're not gonna waste that fuel.
Starting point is 00:43:47 And then the scarecrow looks at Mary Lee, turns its head in like a nice sort of stop motion you weigh. Yeah. And gives her a flower. And she says something like, now, theyce. And she says something like, did you take that maliciously? No, not at all. No, it's just two friends, a ghost and a girl.
Starting point is 00:44:08 They're gonna have a high jinxy television show to themselves later on. I wish. Mary Lea and Bubba solving crimes from the afterlife. Which we can't watch anymore. You can't ruin everything. Katie. Give me a score in the ratings phase. Not the movie I'm looking for. No, which may or may not exist. May or may not exist.
Starting point is 00:44:34 I laughed it. Yeah. I thought it was great. I could not believe it was a major TV movie. I thought the acting was great. I thought the, though it was completely missing the logical piece of any movie, I thought it was a lot of fun. I didn't even get mad at that. I'm gonna give it an eight. I would watch this any day of the week. That's awesome.
Starting point is 00:44:52 Yeah I really enjoyed it. What about you? A solid eight. I agree I didn't see this until I was in my 30s. Okay. I need to see this movie it's a god damn delight yeah yeah go watch Dark Night of the Scarecrow everybody yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah no go or no more zero no no more or zero not even really any violence except the shooting I guess the theater of the mind but it does it so well yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah it's good spookery. I loved it. Yeah. Yeah. I'm still going to figure out what that scarecrow movie is. So there's a movie from the 80s. It's just called either Scarecrow or Scarecrows? I think there is one of each. Oh, fuck. Have we done either of them? I don't think so, not yet. There's definitely one where like a special ops team is being the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the th. the th. the the the th. th. thi. thi. the thi. th. th. the the th. the the the the the the the the the the the their. their. their. their. their. their. the their. So, the the the the the the the the the the the the th. So, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. I. I. I. I is th. I is th. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I'm. I'm. I's. toge. toge. I's. I's. I'm. th. the th. I's. I'm. th. I being taken out by scarecros. That was the one that I thought was maybe our next most likely because I thought I would remember that but like would I? So we'll have to try that again. Yeah I'm always done for the scarecrow search for Jason Scarecrow Dragon. Thanks. Katie.
Starting point is 00:45:59 Alan. Ask me what we're doing next week? What are we doing next week? We're doing a movie that neither of us have ever seen any of the seven films in this franchise. I cannot believe there are seven of them. We're doing the Eliza Dushku classic. Love her? Wrong turn. Is it a classic? I don't know? You can say. If you want to tell us what you think of Eliza Ducku's movie wrong turn, you can leave us a voicemail because we have one of those now. 412705. Is that what it is? I hope so. That's what I've committed to memory so that's going to have to be it. 7025. Yeah, that's what I think. Fucking hell. 412407, 7025. Yeah, leave us a voicemail about wrong turn and let us know
Starting point is 00:46:54 if we've made a wrong turn. Did we get any voicemails this week? We did, Katie. We got a voicemail from Alex Van Lue. Would you like to hear it? I would and also I think Alex Fan Louis used to have our theme song but we had to take it down because it was making dogs upset. That's what I'm saying. It was a good song but apparently it was hurting dogs. Yeah we know what upset dogs but here's what Alex has to say. Hey where will fanbulans this is Alex Van Lubey, a labor and delivery nurse by night and avid wannabe horror movie
Starting point is 00:47:27 sound designer by day. I've been listening to your podcast since 2018 and part of the reason I stayed sane in becoming a nurse and that process was listening to you guys day and the day out. So thank you guys for all of the awesome content, all of the awesome episodes, even if I disagree on some of the movie choices that we hate on, like Insidious. I think there's love to be made for Insidious. But I digress. Hopefully one day you finish off the Paris Hilton Horror with her rock opera film horror and thank you guys so very much and have an
Starting point is 00:48:08 awesome day. Bye. Paris Hilton has a rock opera. So many people have requested that we do that. Can we do it? Yeah at some point. Okay well how lines were eight years in? I mean do you want to do a Paris Hilton Rock Opera horror movie? Yes! A million times. Yes. Hey, ask me what we're doing after a wrong turn. Because it's the Paris Hilton Rock Opera. And I'm so mad you've been keeping it from me the people have been asking about it.
Starting point is 00:48:39 If you'd like to request the Paris Hilton on Rock Opera, that's 41270. Nope. Nope, F025. 4124107025. I got a Google number so you guys can leave messages. Paris Hilton Rock Opera. Isn't it repo the something or other? Yes it is.
Starting point is 00:48:59 Hey, this reminds me, and I don't know when is that Glenn Danzig movie coming out? Oh, I don't know. Okay. Hopefully soon. This reminds me and I don't know why, when is that Glenn Danzig movie coming out? Oh, I don't know. Okay. Hopefully soon. Oh, I can't wait for this. None of these other people are actors. Oh, Paul Sorveno's in it, I lied.
Starting point is 00:49:11 Oh, wow. Bill Mosley? Chopped up. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. .
Starting point is 00:49:24 the Blackheart's fame? That's the one. How many other Joan Jets do you know? Punch them in their faces. Oh, Kevin Power? Who's that? I don't know. It's a great name though. Actually, these people all look like adult film stars. Well, yeah, they're all adults. Yeah, they're in films. There's a porn store on the term pike that just says mature fantasy.
Starting point is 00:49:45 And I always think it's like, ah, somebody else is paying my taxes. What a mature fantasy. Someone makes all my meals and I don't have to live in a boarding house. Not a mature fantasy. Oh man, if you want to make me bacon, leave us a message. Leave us a voicemail if you'd be willing to drop bacon off. It has to be cooked though. I don't want raw bacon because I have to cook it. That's the problem. If you're just going to drop it off, that's Instacart. I can do that.
Starting point is 00:50:14 But free Instacart? Yeah, that's fair. Thanks for listening to another episode of Wearwolf Ambulance. That's enough. Bye-bye. Empty. Say empty, say empty, apple. Mediacs are not dead rules, Savini's sighting at the pool. No way to the Finlay's to fulfill reviews. Killing the clouds and let the face. Can't live in every space. A appearance I've cast in case. Please make a good to continue a good break. EFT. A road and comedy, with his hungry, Brian,
Starting point is 00:51:10 from wings and Stephen King. E.Ft. We live deliciously bad temple tree, so he's recently gone to Danny. A pair of elective duties froma's promise to Roger City. EFT, EFT.
