Starting point is 00:00:00 F. FUCH. FUNY FOOT FOOT BOOT BOOT BOO
Starting point is 00:00:10 BOB t-FU BOB BANGS BANGS BANGS Bob right out of the gates, man. I love Bob's so much. Bob's bangs are insane. Wait, the bangs are what you're going to focus on. That's where I'm going to start, yeah.
Starting point is 00:00:30 What do you want to focus on? Just the fact that he's voiced by a 45-year-old woman. So uncomfortable. Mommy, mommy, mommy? That's what Bob sounds like. That is not Giavani Frizz's frzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that. that's that's thiau. thiau. thooeseseses not thooooooeseseseses not that. that. that's not that's not that's not that's not that's not that's that's It's not good. That is not Giovanni Frizz's voice. No, Giovanni Frizz does not have a voice like that. Oh, Katie. What are we here talking about this week? Oh, one of your favorites? House by the Cemetery. Aluccio Fulchee. It's available on Shutter for fans of Shutter. It is.
Starting point is 00:01:06 Why are we not on Shutter? Yeah, Shutter? Get us on there. Get us some money. I mean, I would just be on Shutter for Freezies, basically. Yeah, I'll do anything really. This is our second, or third Fulchulchie, that's where you're going. No, Katrina McCall.
Starting point is 00:01:26 Also, third that. She's in all those movies, yeah? I think we've done the three that she's in. OK. I do believe by the end of it, she hated him. Yeah. Seems like a very hateable man. The first direction in this film is cut to tits.
Starting point is 00:01:45 It's so good. Steve, Steve, Steve. Oh my god. Stave, Stave. This woman is looking for Stave. This woman is looking for Stave. She's a teen. Yeah, she's a woman.
Starting point is 00:02:01 Looking for Stive. And she's got her tits out immediately. Well, I think, I believe she and Stev have recently been intimate. Well, where'd Stav go? To pee, you should be sown to pee after sex? Pro tip. Oh yeah, you don't want to get a TI. And she sees someone in the house with a flashlight.
Starting point is 00:02:24 She's like, Steph, I'll just live. And I was like, just leve then. Just fucking live. Why are you sticking around? Steve sucks. Nope, she finds Steve. He's nailed to a door by a pair of scissors that are holding his entire body weight on the door.
Starting point is 00:02:36 How she didn't hear that. She gets to the old knife through the headmouth. Oh man, it's so good. It is so good, but I did just see it in that other Italian movie we watched. Where the woman gets it on the waterbed? Oh, technically a Spanish film. Really? That was Spanish. Yeah, yeah. Making fun of Italian Gialo films. I forget so much. Yeah, yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:02 Yeah. It's so good though. And then there's this shot where Luccio was like, you know, he was like, I'm gonna be so tasteful showing a little spot of blood on this woman's ring. And then let's fucking drag her across the floor in an enormous pool of blood. Just a fucking bucket of blood. It's so good. And also, you insane bastard here we are again. Lucio you crazy son of a bitch you did it again. He is a crazy son of a bitch and he did in fact do it again. The opening score to this film is so good.
Starting point is 00:03:34 Yeah. I believe it's a Fabrio Fritzi. Okay. And it's just good synth, you know, horror movie music. I feel like they all sound the same to me. Sure, sure, sure. You don't have a discerning ear for the Italian. One hundo, I do not. Because I even know this is such killer soundtrack. Oh! I saw the guy from Goblin just died. He did. I'm sorry for you a loss. I did get to see him a few years ago when he came to Pittsburgh, so I was very excited. Where do they play? Uh, Homestead, Carnegie Theater. Oh, nice. That's a good place to see Goblin.
Starting point is 00:04:11 It is, except it had the most uncomfortable seats. Because apparently when that theater was built, the maximum height was 5-four for everyone. Yeah, those are tiny, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th, th, thum, thum, thum, thum, thum, thum, thum, thum, thum, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th. Hhe, th. Hhe, th. Hhe, thi. Ha, thi. Home, thi. Home, thi. Home. Homes, home, home, home, home, home, home, home, homeea. Homes, home. Homes, home. Homes, homest, homest, homest, homest, homest, thi. Homes, the entirety of the show through zombie and goblin. That's a long time. That's a long time. Yeah. To sit at a very weird angle. Yeah. But it was fun.
Starting point is 00:04:31 It was a good time. So we cut to mommy. Mommy. Mommy, mommy. Mommy, what is the little girl on the photograph tell to the telling me not to go, Mommy. What? Mommy? Oh, Bob. And I was like, is that baby's name Bob? I don't know why, but it cracks me the fuck up that a child is named Bob. Because no one is Bob until they're at least a teenager.
Starting point is 00:04:55 You're Bobby, you're Rob, you might be Robert. You might be Bert, but you're not fucking Bob. I mean like Bob has to be an insurance, like, like, like, like the the to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to be like to be like to be like to be like to be like to be like to be to be to be to be to be to be the the the the the the the the baby the baby, like the baby, like the baby, the baby, the baby the baby, the baby the baby, the baby, the baby the baby, the baby, the baby, the baby, the baby, the baby, the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the to be an insurance adjuster before you get to really like lay into that Bob. Absolutely. Bob needs to have to have worn like a polo shirt and khakis for a job. Why is that little girl telling me I shouldn't go there? There's no girl in the window of a picture. Yeah. And we have seen her very closely zoomed in the thooo tho. the girl. to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the to. the the the the the to. the the the to. the the the to. the to to to to to to to window, Bob. So he's talking about the little girl in the window of a picture. Yeah. And we have seen her very closely zoomed in and it's a girl sort of screaming, look sort of in the picture.
Starting point is 00:05:33 Sure, sure. And then it zooms out and out and out and out, and you can barely see it when you're looking at the full picture, which I thought was like, it's kind of nice work, Lucia. It's good spookery. Yeah. And then when we look, when we go back to the picture, the curtains are closed and I thought, wow, that's nice work. Yeah. And then now she's back. Zoom in, zoom in. I already saw this.
Starting point is 00:05:54 It's too much, Luccio. Look, he's got to pat cuts to just a German question mark child in the woods with a doll being beckoned by a strange woman whose face you don't see. Why you think she's German? Because her accent is occasionally German, but only some of the time. That thing is all over the place. Yeah. I mean, Bavarian, I don't know. She looks like if you were going to draw like an Irish child from memory, you would draw this child. This is just this random bizarre scene of a girl being beckoned by this woman in the middle
Starting point is 00:06:37 of the woods. That would be May. Who is in New Whitby, Massachusetts. Okay. New Whitby. That sounds made up. And also not, somehow, thi. to. to. to. to, to, to, to, thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi, thi, thi, thi, the the Irish, the Irish, thi, thi, thi, the Irish, the Irish, thi, thi, like an thi, like an thi, like an thi, like an their their their their their their their their their theirish child, like theirish theirish theirish theirish theirish their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their thi. Like, like thi. Like, like an Irish thi thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii thi thii thi thi. Like. New Whitby, that sounds made up. It does sound made up. And also not somehow. So then we cut to this enormous exposition scene of these two guys who have this important project and they're the doctor committed suicide and slaughtered his mistress and they're doing this in this very clunky exposition, which is even clunkier after you've just seen like the mystery scene
Starting point is 00:07:05 of the mysterious girl. It's like, what are you doing with this thing? Where the one guy says, publisher Podunk. Yeah, I fucking hate Norman. I fucking hate him. Do you know who Norman is talking to in this scene? No. That would be one, Lucia Focchio.
Starting point is 00:07:21 I didn't notice. I only know him from our t-shirt. Oh, Norman, he's the worst. He comes home and gets into a little tiff with his wife because she's like, why didn't you go to the doctor's funeral? You worked closely with him. He was your friend. And he's like, I don't know, what are you supposed to say to someone who whose husband killed their mistress and then killed themselves like I don't know I'm sorry for your loss it's super fucking easy actually I'm so sorry you're going through this
Starting point is 00:07:51 let me know if I can help you this is terrible I'm so sorry I'm really sorry so fucking easy I believe they say that he was researching suicide what's the research on that? Oh, you know, how how one, how you dies. He's just, oh, he's such a scumbag. He's just, he keeps throughout the movie, someone will ask him a question and he'll freeze and like look down. I mean like, uh, and the music kind of gets tense and he's like, about 430, but I don't think I want to be able to make it. And you're like, what? It's this weird thing where it makes it appear that he's lying. But then later in the movie, it's revealed that he's not. So, fucking crazy. So, he's driving around with his wife and Bob. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:40 Because they're moving to, New Whitby. To continue the research because he's going to get $5,000 more a year. Yeah, for suicide studies. For suicide studies. And he's like after mommy changed your mind for the tenth time and it's like seriously, fuck this guy, fuck you. Cut to May standing in front of a clothing store of some sort with three mannequins. One of them is very distinctive looking. I'm sorry, that was a cardboard cutout. I'm sure of it.
Starting point is 00:09:11 A cardboard cutout of zombie Sophia Vargara. And that zombie's head falls off. Rip Sophia Varga-a! And it's like filled with blood and guts and it's all gross and it's like, God damn, I love you fucking Vulture. Psychopath. And May's like, oh, I'm a, I'm a, I'm a, I'm a, I'm a, and I just wrote, what? So they leave Bob in the car while they have a business meeting, take him with you. He's little.
Starting point is 00:09:41 He's a small baby child. How old you think that kid is? The judge, he was voice about 38, 39. Oh, he's like 10? Not even. Not even. He's single digits, for sure. You know, we have encountered Bobbent before in a film. When?
Starting point is 00:09:58 You remember a little movie called Demons, directed by one Lombardo Bava. Is that the Dirt Bike Motorcycle? Dirt Bike, Samurai, Sword, Motorcycle, Yes. Dirt Bike Motorcycle, yes. I was going to say Dirt Bike Katana, but yes. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:13 Uh, when, at the end of it, the family rescues them and they're driving away in a Bob is eating an apple or something in that same-said Jeep. All right, Bob. And he's also voiced by a 45-year-old woman. Why can't children do these voices? I don't know. Oh, boy. So they leave Bob in the car. They go in to meet with, what's her name? Mrs. Giddleson. I'm obsessed with Mrs. Giddleson.
Starting point is 00:10:40 Why is that her name? They were like, we need an American name. Giddleson, that'll do. It's like Scuddlebutt, but different, Giddleson. What's the Giddleson? And she says to him, to Norman, you've been there before Dr. Boyle. He goes, huh? No. No, I haven't. No. And you're like, oh, he's clearly lying. Nope.
Starting point is 00:11:05 No. And then we see May again, but she's no longer German, because she absolutely is in that first scene, and she's absolutely not now. They just got somebody else to voice, because nobody's using their, this is all ADR. Oh, sure. Yeah. She's talking to Bob about how he shouldn't have come here. And he's like, I I I I I tho. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. tho, th. tho, thi. thi. No, thi, th. No, th. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thing to Bob about how he shouldn't have come here. And he's like, I know, I told them, but parents never listen. They always do what they want. And it's like, yes, that's why we don't let children make the household decisions, Bob. Does my child pay the mortgage?
Starting point is 00:11:39 Bob? When she starts, she can make some decisions. Bob? So they come back to the car and Bob is. When she starts, she can make some decisions. Bob. So they come back to the car and Bob is missing. What do they do? They yelled for Bob. No, they don't. Oh, they run over and find Bob.
Starting point is 00:11:57 No, they don't. They look around casually, back, forth, left, right. No, Bob. Where could Bob be? No, they don't say any of that. They say nothing. Don't yell or anything. I guess he's just gone.
Starting point is 00:12:14 Well, they find him laying in the grass with a doll that looks suspiciously like May. It's a half-life-sized doll, and they don't ask him where it came from. And he's just petting it. They're like, get in the car with this new friend of yours. They don't say a fucking word about it. They notice it later, though, and it's like, what, how? When she says, Bob's always bringing me trash.
Starting point is 00:12:41 She sobs that line. She's so funny. And then he's like take your pills you hysterical bitch. But this is like after Mrs. Giddelson I think comes to see them or takes them to the house and then she runs something over and goes damn tombstones like it jumped in front of the car. Fucking dead people just laying around here with their fucking stupid tombstones. Pieces of shit. And what's what's the, what's Katrina McCall's name? Oh, that would be Lucy Boyle? Lucy Boyle gets out of the car and looks at the house and she's like, this is just like the picture
Starting point is 00:13:20 that was back home. Yeah, and what's- the picture? that was back home. Yeah. Why did he have a picture of his friend's house? Norman goes, oh, yeah, I guess it could be. It's a pretty good example of blavity, blovity architecture. Like to shit on Norman's head. You dumb fuck face, I'm glad you noticed that. He's like, we decided it would be a vacation. You're going to have fun. This was giving me strong raw head Rex vibes. Really don't take your dumb
Starting point is 00:13:47 family on vacation with you, dickhead. It's not even a vacation you're there to work. Yeah. And it's like I hate him and I bet he's the hero, you know. They're not trying to make him hateable. He just sucks. He made himself hateable. And then Anne the babysitter shows up. Are you Mrs. Boyle, I'm Anne the Babysetter. And then Cuttoo, head, her head, severed head, Luccio! She has died in other movies that we've watched as well. Tell me. She died in Tenabre. She gets murdered in Tenabre.
Starting point is 00:14:18 Who was she in Tenabre? I believe she's the shoplifter in the opening series. Yes, okay. She has very distinctive eyes. It says eyebrows too. Yeah, yeah, yeah, she's very distinctive looking. They bring the a lot of attention to them by just having her sand in darkness and then flash a light across them. It's like, right. There's this like when she is introduced to Norman and there's a scene where they're going back and forth between their eyes like okay okay they fucking or something? What are we telling here? What's going on, Luccio? This movie like implies all of this subtext that is absolutely not there. Just by it, it's an
Starting point is 00:14:51 aptitude, I think. So, this movie now introduces, it's got my favorite child actor and Bob, and my favorite, I need a name that sounds spooky. Dr. Freudstein? Dr. Freudstein. This is wild. Oh see that could be that's a German name Freudstein. See she is German. That's not a German name you either one or the other you can't be both you can be Freudstein. Yeah. Freudstein. Well I wanted to be like Frankenstein. Well I wanted to be like Frankenstein's monster, but also that guy that thought everyone was going, fuck their mom. It's a wild, too, because it's an incredibly distinctive name.
Starting point is 00:15:29 It appears on a tomb in their house, and then later they don't recognize the name, which is fucking crazy. So he finds a package that should hold a book that's just labeled Freudstein. The research, it's gone! I have to tell you that I gaffauled when I was reminded that the name Freudstein exists. Oh, it's so good. And then there's the omnipresent loud creaking. Creaking and a child crying.
Starting point is 00:16:04 Which we think is Bob? Yeah, no one else cares. No, Norman finally gets up to go see. And he's sleep, Bob is sleeping and whimpering. It wasn't Bob crying though. No, but he's like sleep whimpering because his dad goes into like Bob has like pushed himself up the bed so his dad grabs him by the ankle and drags him down. That would wake a child up. Yes. Which I thought it was good it was good that it was that it was that it was that it was that it was that it was that it was that it was that it that it that it that it that it that it that it that it th. th. th. th. th. No th. No th. No th. No th. No th. No th. No thi thi the thi no one no one no one no one the the the the th. No one th. No th. No th. No th. No the th. No th. No th. No th. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the ankle and drags him down? That would wake a child up. Yes. Which I thought it was good that it wasn't Bob crying because I think he would have just yelled at him. Fuck and knock it off!
Starting point is 00:16:31 Mommy, why is dad yelling at me, mommy? Mommy! Mommy! Oh, God, I love you so much. And we see Anne prying wood off of maybe the basement door. Why is she doing that? That's the creaking that Dad hears where she's going and prying the wood off the door. Why?
Starting point is 00:16:52 And he comes in and she's like, huh? And he goes, huh? And this is when the lights shining across their eyes. What is the scene? Why is she taking that wood off the wood the wood the wood the wood the wood that wood off the door. Hell yeah. Oh, all right. And then we cut to a scene where Katrina McCall sees Giddleston or whatever. Giddleson on the street and she's like, hey, and Giddleston goes, I don't know you. And just keeps on walking. And he, fucking Norman, says to her, maybe you need glasses.
Starting point is 00:17:22 When it's clearly Mrs. Giddleston and he's not wearing his own glasses in this scene. I was furious. Ladies, get you a man that hates you as much as Norman hates his wife. Get you a man that hates you as much as you hate yourself. He's meeting with some guy at the university maybe, who's like, you've been here before and your son, blah, blah, blah. He's like, I've never been here before, or I have a, your daughter.
Starting point is 00:17:54 Yeah. He's like, no, I have a son, not a daughter. I don't know what this whole buildup is because it doesn't pay off. No, we are meant to believe that he has been here before. Right, right. But he really hasn't. He th. He th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th th th th th th th th th th th th th. th th. th th, I th, I th, I th, I th, th. thi thi thi th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th. th. thi, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th, th. th, th, th, th, th. th. th. th, th, th, th, th, th, th. th. th. th, th. thi, thi, thi, thi thi thi thi thi the the the the thi thi thi the thi thi thi thi thi th meant to believe that he has been here before. Right, right. But he really hasn't. He really hasn't. So why do these otherwise normal seeming people think that he has? I don't know. And what the fuck is the deal with Daniel Douglas?
Starting point is 00:18:16 He's squirrely as fuck. He's just like he says something. He's just like he says something, he goes, mm-hmm, mm-hmm, Oh my God. After everything. He's so squirrely. He's like, if you need me, I'll be in the next room shucking peanuts with my teeth. I'll be over here. And he's like, he, Dr. Peter, what's the guy who's dead,
Starting point is 00:18:37 Dr. Peterson? Oh, I don't know. Yeah. We'll call him Dr. Jordan Peterson. He's like, he hanged himself right over there. And then there's like a music sting like, weo. And it shows you a rod that a ladder in a library would slide on. You're like, okay. Okay. I get it. Why you tell him that?
Starting point is 00:18:56 I'm that. He's the friend. Right over there. You're so gross. I'm Daniel Douglas. Are we meant to think he's a bad guy? Because there are no bad guys in this movie until, you know what I mean? Like, we don't, we have nothing to fear until the end. So Bob's cut to Bob in the cemetery by the house. I'm the title of the house. I love that this movie opens showing the cemetery and then the house by the cemetery and it's like, thanks Lucio. Got it. You guys think you walked in the wrong movie?
Starting point is 00:19:29 You see the cemetery but where's that? Oh, thanks Lucia. There's the house. And he's playing with a car that can no way shape or form drive around in leafy grass, but he's doing it. He's doing best. And we see the headstone for Mary Freudstein. Right, it's got a picture of her on it, which I guess is why we don't see the woman's head as she's talking to May, but also I would not have made the connection that they were the same person. Doesn't really look that much like her. I thought that thioo. Knees down. Sick Muppet Babies reference. I loved Muppet Babies.
Starting point is 00:20:05 Oh yeah, it was great. Make your dreams come true. So May tells Bob all about Mary Freudstein and she's like, it's a lie though. She's not buried here. Right. Do we learn anything from that or no? Yep. I just read here, Dr. Freudstein banned forever,
Starting point is 00:20:27 but I don't know what that's about. That's when Norman is doing research. Where is he banned from? I don't know. Oh, I think from practicing medicine, maybe. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay, okay. And so cut to mom finding the headstone under the living room floor. Yeah, there's like a, it looks like it's like like like like like like like like like like it's like it's like it's like it's like, it's like, it's like, th like, to to to to to to to to to to to to to th. to that, that, that, th. that, that, that, that, that, that, that, th. that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. that, th. that, th. that's that's th. th. that's the. the. th. the. that's the. that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that, there's like a, it looks like it's gonna be a trap door,
Starting point is 00:20:45 and then she traces her finger on it and traces out across and finds that it's a grave marker. Yeah. Yeah. And it says, Jacob, test, Freudstein. And then he comes home and tells her about Freudstein. And neither of them's like, that's the name of the guy. What is wrong with these? Like, what is wrong with these people? If you share information with people, they're able to steal that information and use it against you.
Starting point is 00:21:09 You have to hold all of your information inside, Katie. But they don't. They looked at it together and then they talked about him together. Oh, boy. Most important thing in this movie? Somebody's eating a box of Fiddle Faddle. What's Fiddle Faddle Faddle? It's like, uh, uh, Cracker Jack. Oh, Crunchymunch. Yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly. Fiddle Faddle Faddle. I was like, oh, yeah, Fiddle Faddle.
Starting point is 00:21:32 I was like, you see Crunch and Munch and Munch I've seen a crunch and munch at the d Fattle had way more peanuts than Cracker Dax ever did. I feel like Crunch and Munch is heavy on the peanuts, which is a thing that I like. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Do you think they're just the same thing but different regions? Maybe. Yeah, probably. Yeah. Yeah, probably.
Starting point is 00:21:54 But I justbing near the headstone? Well she's been, okay she has been, she was in the kitchen maybe, yeah, and all the sudden there's all this banging and creaking and crying and she just like holds her head and screams. Right. Yeah, which is pretty spooky for her yeah. And I also love those interior stained-glass doors that are all over the house, yeah. And I mean, Katrina McCall is great th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th thi thi thi thi thi thi the thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi's that that that that that that that that that that that that that that thi thi thi thi thi thi stained glass doors that are all over the house, yeah. And I mean Katrina McCall is great at nothing if just not screaming at random bullshit. Yeah, she's great at screaming at random bullshit. He hears her crying and is so suspicious and turning around like there might be a boa constrictor behind him. And I guarantee you this is not to the first time that he's heard his wife cry.
Starting point is 00:22:45 I would cry every day if I was married to Norman. And then also he just, her pills are all strewn over the nightstand. Why, give her one? That's all you need. You don't store them like that. You gotta find the one that you want to give her. So stupid. And Bob comes in and he's like, I've got a girlfriend, you gotta meet my girlfriend. Does he say that? He does. Your first tomorrow is his girlfriend. Is
Starting point is 00:23:16 this before or after he, Norman wakes up Lucy and she's like incredibly happy to be woken up? She's just like, I love you. And they be woken up she's just like I love you and they're just rubbing one another's heads like the back of each other's heads. I think this is before because they go and open the basement door okay at some point and then there's more exchanged glances because she's like I'm so upset that there's a dead body in this house and he's like most houses of this age have dead bodies in them you silly old the the the the the the the the th the th the th the th the th th th the th th th th the th th th th th th th th th th. th. th. tho tho tho tho tho they're just tho they're just tho they're just they're just they're just they're just they're just they're just they're just they're just they're just they're just they're just they're just they're just they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're th th th th th th th th th th thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi tho thi tho tho the tho ty tho tho tho tho tho tho the the the tho they the they that there's a dead body in this house. And he's like, most houses of this age have dead bodies in them, you silly old tomato broad. Oh, tomato broads.
Starting point is 00:23:52 Also, Anne speaks only to camera. When she has to interact with another character, she like turns to face the camera and does her dialogue that way. If I had eyes like that, I would look like that I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I'm th, I'm th, I'm th, I, I, I, I, I'm th, I, I, I'm th, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, Ithat I would look down the barrel of a camera constantly. Fair enough. She's very of that like Argento likes this style of woman. Yeah, yeah. Very Italian looking. Yeah, oh yeah. Beautifully Italian. All Italians are beautiful. AIAB. I thought we could sell that shirt a little Italy dance. Yeah we could. Yeah we could. A lot of cops there though.
Starting point is 00:24:33 I don't know. It's like I'm not trying to get a fight. So they finally, they get the lock open to the basement, they go into the basement and they find that ring. Yes, tiddy ladies ring. And then they also get a bat. Oh my god, this is my favorite, this is why I wanted you to see this movie. I recall you saying to me years ago about a bat that was just a bag full of blood.
Starting point is 00:24:59 Get stabbed once and bleeds out of three different holes. Why? It bled from so many places. It was like, it's a shitty prop. It's such a shitty prop that it bleeds out of every hole. And they shot that and they weren't like, wait, let's try this again. Katie. Alan. Let's try this again? No, I know. She's screaming. Norman is not a quick reactor. He's like, hold on.
Starting point is 00:25:26 Hold on. I said, hold on. Fine, I guess I'll get involved. What does Note 72 say? This is Peak Cinema with an exclamation point. Is it though? Oh, you know, 100% is. Norman gets bit on the hat, he gets the bat off of his wife's head. And just, th on, th on, th on, th on, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, hold on, hold tho, tho, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold tho, hold tho, hold tho, hold tho, hold tho, hold tho, hold tho, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, th. th. th. th. tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. thoooo. thooo. tho. tho. tho. tho. gets bit on the hand, he gets the bat off of his wife's head.
Starting point is 00:25:45 And just for those not watching the movie and listening along it is 100% of rubber bat on a string. I mean it's enormous first of all. Bats aren't even that big in America. Are they? Yeah? Yeah, some of them, yeah. Fruit bats and stuff. Yeah, watch yourself. I'm very scared of bats. Oh, yeah. I grew up around them. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. F th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th that th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. F th. F th. F th. F th. F th. F th. F th. F th. F th. F th. F th. F th. F th. F th. F th. F th. F th. Yeah. F th. Yeah. F. Yeah. F. F. Yeah. Yeah. F. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.'m very scared of bats. Oh, really? Yeah. I grew up around them. See, I don't do that. I'm fucks with bats? Uh-huh.
Starting point is 00:26:11 So it gets, it bites him on the hand. It won't let go. And so he's running up the steps with this bat on his hand. Just going, ah, ah, ha! And the bat's like, the bats like, gong, gong, gong. Is that what bats do? It's not like, it's so funny. It's, it's, all the bad is doing is everything bats wouldn't do, and I love it. He stabs the bat, it bleeds from three places. It has so much blood.
Starting point is 00:26:37 So much blood. It is a whooppy cushion of blood. Oh, it's so joyous. It's also like, take it outside, Norman. He's just standing there in the kitchen, stabbing it. I love it to all this happens, and at no point someone's like, you have to go get rabies. Right. It's the 80s, right? It's the 80s, right? They know about rabies.
Starting point is 00:26:55 I don't know. I couldn't tell where is this going to go? Just that they knew. I know we've referred to babies as blood balloons on this podcast before, but who boy bats. Oh, this is where I have the note, chef's kiss. Yeah. Because it pleads out of three holes at drinkstaffed once. And he is just throwing his arm around and flinging blood in his child's face over and over. He is going to need so much therapy. Oh my God. Although I don't understand the end at all, so I look forward to explaining that to me. So they run over to Mrs. Giddleston's office.
Starting point is 00:27:34 She's not there, but they talk to her assistant, who ends the conversation with that Freudstein house. That Freudstein house. . house, that Freudstein house. I love him because he has one of two accents that Fultu thinks every American has. He's like, well I'll see what I can do to help y'all. You're in, excuse me, where, Massachusetts? New Whitby. New Whitby. Oh, it be. Oh, my God. That Freudstein house. That Freudstein house. Oh God. So Mrs. Giddleston shows up
Starting point is 00:28:11 to their house. Yeah, let's herself in. The tomb chomps her leg, which is very good. It makes it real gnarly looking to. And what happens to poor Mrs. Giddleston? She gets stabbed? There's a lot of screaming? She bleeds way less than the bat. She does. She snuffed just a bag of blood. There was a subtitle that said, flesh squishing.
Starting point is 00:28:41 And I was like, yeah, it does. And it's also just like, do something with your arms. What? No one does anything with their arms. But her leg was caught. That's true. That's true. You're right.
Starting point is 00:28:55 How would, Katie? Also, my next note, I say, well, I take the bad. Well that's because Freidstein slits her throat 17 different times, like he's cutting a spiral ham. You gotta get it so right. You want those thin slices, nobody wants a big old hunk of ham. Cut to. Anne cleaning the blood up from the murder. No, there's like an interstitial scene of a black cat on the grave, like, oh, very fucking subtle, Lucio. Oh, that's right. Anyway, now Ayan's cleaning up the blood.
Starting point is 00:29:28 Did she just live there? Yeah. Okay. And Lucy comes in and she's like, hey, what do you do? And then, and then tha, tha. She doesn't respond. And Lucy's like, okay, I'll get some coffee then. Like, why would you not say, yes, but what are you doing and what is your deal? Use your words, Anne, we don't understand your look. We don't understand your eyes.
Starting point is 00:29:51 Is she supposed to be a ghost? I don't get it. I don't know. Because in the next scene, Lucy walks in and got to go back to New York City. I'm going to leave you here. Fuck that shit. Because he wants to find out where, he wants to see where Dr. Freudstein's buried.
Starting point is 00:30:12 Right, right. The name on the tomb was Freudstein. You both saw it, and neither of you have noticed that it, which you must have because it must be right by the front door because Mrs. Giddleston fell into it when she entered the premises. What? Why? Why does he say he's going to New York and then goes to the library in town where Daniel Douglas is or Douglas Daniels under whatever the fuck the guy's name is? So fucking squirrelly. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:30:44 Then Bob and May are playing. Then Bob, he's like, I got to run back to the house or my mommy will be mad at me. I'll be back in a five of minutes. Also, she says, no Bob, don't go inside to. I warned you not to. And then she looks over at Mary Freudstein's Tombstone, which is just outside the house. How has no one noticed that either that either th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the name the name the name the name the name the name the name the name the name. That's the name. That's the name. the name. the name. the name. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the guy. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. It's. It's. It's. It's at Mary Freudstein's tombstone, which is just outside the house. How has no one noticed that either? That's a very uncommon name. Two people on earth have that name. Three if you count May.
Starting point is 00:31:15 So Norman finds a tape and a tape layer that's labeled Peterson, personal. So yes, the doctor was named Peterson. Dr. Jordan Peterson. And then there's like some, it's Dr. Freud's team talking or somebody on the tape. I think it's Dr. Peterson talking about how Sheila doesn't believe him that there's weird things going on in the house. Okay, okay, okay. It's like glad someone put this together for you, Norman.
Starting point is 00:31:49 And that it's, he figures out from the tape that it's Freudstein's house. You fucking idiot. While Dr. Peterson is just going, blood! Jesus Christ. Oh, that's right, because then we're seeing what's happening in the house, like the blood on Freightstein's grave and body parts and Sheila's body parts and the children. Yeah, zoom in on the disemboweled child. Nice work, Lucio. I wanted to give you the creepy wee piece, huh? Make you feel like a real bob.
Starting point is 00:32:27 And then Norman burns the tape. He burns the tape. Why does he do that? Yep. I don't know. Norman. I also missed everything that happens in the next scene because Lucy is carrying her groceries and on top is a big old thing of thin pretzels and I just could not stop thinking about pretzels.
Starting point is 00:32:46 Did you have any in the house? No. What the fuck? I know. I got to keep a constant supply of pretzels. I just can't do it. I eat them all and then there's no more and then how do I get more? I got some pretzel goldfish. I got some pretzel goldfish. I that see, see, see, see, see, see, see, see, see, see, see, see, see, see, see, see, see, see, see, see, see some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some their, their, thso, thi, their, their, thi, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, th. th. th. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thea, thea, theat, theat, theat, theat, theat, thea, theathem because I ordered some Old Bay goldfish and you can only get it into a three-pack with two things of Old Bay goldfish and one thing a pretzel goldfish. All right, all right. Roll gold tiny twists. Oh yeah. Oh yeah. Oh yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It saddens me to say that the finest pretzel is not made in Pennsylvania. Sure. thr. It's thinensensensensensensensensensensensensensensensensensensensensensensensensensensens. that that that th. in circulation and the US are made in Pennsylvania. Sure, sure. I like a Pennsylvania pretzel. I mean, it's fine, but it's no rolled gold tiny twist. Okay. So crunchy.
Starting point is 00:33:31 So buttery. How do you make it so good? Is it, is it uts? I can't remember who does it? Yeah, yeah, yeah, I think that's us, yeah. It's a big sour dough, though, right? It's not like a thin pretzel. I like a big sour dough, I don't like having crumbs all over my chest. I love them. That's a lifestyle that I live. I was definitely pulling goldfish crumbs out of my chest hair the other night and I was just like
Starting point is 00:33:57 living that dream baby? Yeah, yeah, hmm, just celery salt right up here on the chest there. What is happening? I wrote, I look forward to Anne's eventual beheading. Does not happen soon enough. Like Bob has three adults tasked with caring for him and they are all zero percent good at it. Yeah, no, they're terrible. We get a long stretch of Bob playing with this fucking car and and doing housework for at least five minutes. Yeah, it's a while. Yeah, yeah, and then Bob is missing. Right.
Starting point is 00:34:29 And the basement doors open and we hear crying from the basement. Right. And we've seen like a hand, like a yucky hand, holding things and moving around on the screen before. In typical Fultzzie style, there's the same character has one yucky hand and one non-yucky hand. I was going to say the person holding the knife in the scene does not have a yucky hand and then I thought oh it's mom's hand she's gonna stab a hand. No, it's just a non-yucky hand on the yucky man. This is where I started to get mad about, I don't know. the thian back. Which I find to be offensive. It's also like they've never seen the rage of an Italian mom whose child has gotten her hair wet in the pool by accident. Like that deep, simmering rage. So Bob is going to rescue Anne. Yeah. But he has to get a monkey to do it.
Starting point is 00:35:26 And it gets like a stuffed monkey with him to do it? Because he's a baby. Baby. Yeah. Yeah. Mm-hmm. And the door opens up. And the door opens up.
Starting point is 00:35:34 And he just walks right downstairs. Yeah, he's not afraid of it. the to' the today's is is. to be. to be. to be. to be. to be. to be. to be. too. too. too. too. too. too. too. too. to to to to to to to to to be. to be. to to the to be. to to be. to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to. to. to be. to be. to be. to be. to be. to be. to be. to be. to be. to be. to be. to be to be to be too. too. too. too. t the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the too. too. too. the too. the to head comes tumbling down and this child looks well and truly terrified like there are points in this movie where I was like this kid is really fucking scared he's not that good of an actor it's totally abusing this child they are really scaring him. Oh and his arm gets him and mom comes home oh and his arm gets him like oh and his arm gets to him like that part's true. the the the the the the the the the he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he is he's he is he. he is he is th. th. th. th. th. th. th. He's is the is the is the is the is the the the. the. the. the. the. the is the is the is thi is thi is thi is trying to get out. Yeah. After he sees the head. And then Freud's almost gets him, and mom comes home. She's got her honest values at the Stop and Shop bag. Like, that part's true. Real true.
Starting point is 00:36:11 And he tells her about the head. Yeah. So now she's going to go investigate with Bob. But meanwhile, Norman is 200 miles away, looking for Freudstein's tomb. It's in your house, you've already seen it. And then the cemetery caretaker puts his hands on him. Yeah. That's a real mass-hole right there.
Starting point is 00:36:37 I love that mom takes Bob to the basement and she just like doesn't believe him. Yeah, it's kind of like, if the babysitter is missing and your child describes something violent, maybe alert the authorities because she's actually missing. And she's like, yeah, she probably just left you alone while she went to go see her parents. Mm-hmm. No, I don't think so. Yeah. No one's ever watching him and he's always wearing the same clothes. It's heartbreaking.
Starting point is 00:37:07 I didn't even clock that he's always wearing the same clothes. Poor blue shirt. So we see these spooky, reflective eyes in the basement. And poor Bob looks so scared, except the eyes are very silly. They're very silly. They're doll's eyes. Yeah. 100%. And so, somehow... Norman gets home and Bob's still locked down there somehow? Right, right, right. And Katrina McCall is trying to open the door with a knife. Right, which we've seen Norman do.
Starting point is 00:37:38 Yes. But you have to put the key in and then put the knife through the key and turn it. Right, right, right. Which he says to her, Bob says, he's, to to the key, to to use, the key, the key, the key, th, th, th, th, th, th, th. th. th. th. the key, th. th. th. the key, th. th. th. their, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, tho, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. tho. the. thooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. And, the knife through the key and turn it. Right, right, right. Which he says to her, Bob says, use the key like daddy did. And it's like, why didn't you think of that? You're the fucking adult. She's too busy screaming. But then she breaks the key in the lock, which is an absolute nightmare. Uh-huh. to cut the door open with a hatchet. Well yeah, he's in there screaming and crying.
Starting point is 00:38:05 She's freaking out and then Norman rolls in like, what's the matter? Is Bob in there? Yes, fucking use your senses. I know you've been terrible at that so far. And Norman says, Bob, get your head away from the door. And Freud's seeing, what's that? And Purs thus that, and pu pu pu pu pu pu pu pu pu pu pu pu pu pu pu pu pu pu pu pu pu pu pu pu pu pu pu pu pu pu pu pu and pu pu and pu pu pu pu? And, and pu pu? And, and pu? And, and pu, and pu, and pu, and pu, and pu, and pu, and pu, and pu, and pu, and pu, and pu, and he, and that, and, and, and, and, and, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the the the the the the the the the the their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, the fu, their, the fu, fu, their, fu, their, fu, their, fu, their, their, their, their, the door. It's really upsetting so he's like Norman's hatcheting it from the outside and it's just going around Bob's little head. And Bob passes out. Meanwhile Bob's going mommy mommy mommy and fucking Norman still up here
Starting point is 00:38:35 talking about Freudstein. It's like figure this out first. Pick a spot to hatchet and keep hatcheting that spot. This is where I have the note, this is the longest hatcheting ever. It goes on for days. But they do cut off Freudstein's good hand. Oh right, the non-yucky hand, yeah. He's creepy. He's this sort of faceless man. He looks like dried meat.
Starting point is 00:39:01 Yeah, it does look like dried meat. He's probably made of actual dried meat. Yeah, it does look like dried meat. He's probably made of actual dried meat. What's his deal, though? So he needs the something of living people, the blood of living people, I think, even though he splashes it all over the place, to keep himself alive forever. What's the point of that, though?
Starting point is 00:39:20 So he can live in a basement and kill people, I guess? Seems like a worthless existence. Oh yeah, no, yeah, for sure. He needs human victims to renew his cells, and that's how he stays alive, as a note that I have. Okay. Okay. So then dad and Froydstead go at it. Wait, so, but first doesn't mom end up down there? Or no, he dies first, you're right. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Somebody steps on Anne's head. I liked that.
Starting point is 00:39:52 And dad stabs Freudstein and he's just filled with like old Piscettios and maggots. Yes, because Lucio bought stock and magnet. He has a heart-on for maggots. Maggots, not magnets. How do they work? I knew I wasn't getting out of here without a maggot. I also wrote, nice little knife collection, Alan would like that. But yeah, he's still, like, Norman at some point is still standing at the top of the stairs, and he's like talking about the human cells, casual chat with his wife, and it's like, yeah, like your child, who's down there with him? Sir, Bob. Anyway, Norman gets clawed across the throat and he fucking deserved everything.
Starting point is 00:40:30 Yeah, it's great. Also no use of his hands. What? Yeah, he got clawed in the throat. How is he supposed to use his hands? Yeah, no. And then, this is why I think Katrina McCall hates Lugio Fulch, because she gets dragged down the steps and her chin hits every step.
Starting point is 00:40:48 Not before she does the old push with one hand to pool with the other on the tomb, that's broken. It's very, um, God, what was the movie we were doing? Where they were like pushing cabinets closed while trying to open them. The lock-in. Yeah. Satan has made it so I can't open. No, you're actually pushing on a dump-dump. It's actually your other hand. You're Satan. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:41:08 Doing the old push-me-poole you. I mean, yes, she hits every step on the way down. Yeah, because there's steps leading up to the headstone thing And the child seems so genuinely frightened. And then I was just thinking like, can you imagine taking the steps that would end with your child acting in a Fulchie film? What led you to this day? You don't think Fulch just bought that child at some point? You're my, Bob, now.
Starting point is 00:41:42 I love when Bob's tried to fit his big-ass head through the crack.. He. He th. He th. He th. He th-st-st-st-st-st-st-st-st-st-st-st-st-st-st-st-st-st-st-st-st-st-st-st head-st-st head-stit-stit-stit-s-s-so-soeded-soed-soed-soed-s is th-soed-so-soed-s is th-s is th-s is thozymed-s is thozymed-s is just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just then st st st st st st st st stan stan stan staned-sts. He's thoed-sts. He's thin stout when Bob's trying to fit his big ass head through the crack. He's a really big head. He does though, like it's clear that it's not going to fit and then they cut away and cut back and he's out to his shoulders and like, he's out to his shoulders. Ha ha ha ha. So Bob gets out and may saves him. Yeah. And then they're outside. And who's outside with them, Katie? Mary Freudstein? Yeah, Mary Freudstein. And she says show him you can act like a Freudstein. Yeah. I don't know what that means. Does that mean to kill him?
Starting point is 00:42:14 I guess. Who is crying though? I don't know. Where are they going? Yep. They're taking a walk? Then there's this weird, I didn't write it down. I can't. There's this like text card about the monster, no one knows if the children are monsters or the monsters are children? By Henry James, yeah, yeah, it's a quote. Was she the bad guy all along? Katie, no one knows it says it right. Like, well, this is so fucking stupid. Oh yeah, 100%. Yeah. No argument for me there, but it's, well, I think we need to know what happens now.
Starting point is 00:42:54 Or we know what we need to do now, boom. Katie, ratings phase. Ratings phase. You want to go first or second? I'll go first. I got no problems with that. All right. It's a fucking 8, it's a delight, it's joyous. It's so stupid.
Starting point is 00:43:08 Oh my god, is it dumb? It's so fun. Bob, Bob is worth like three points on his own. Yeah. My man. But Norman is a minus 3. a bowl of cold spaghetti. Okay. Like I'm gonna eat it if I'm hungry, but the whole time I'm gonna be like, why am I doing this? But no maggots, of course, no maggots.
Starting point is 00:43:30 No maggots, but also no like meatballs, no, no sauce. No, it's tomato sauce, but there's no salt in it. It's very bland. Oh, I see. Yeah, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like. It's like a can of tomato paste mixed with cold spaghetti. But there's Freudstein.

We're not doing this to get rich or famous. No. It's nice to just hear that it matters to somebody, I guess. Yeah, yeah, for sure. Yeah. So besides us, because it matters to me. Matters is real people, not us. Yeah, exactly. Somebody's opinion matters.
