Werewolf Ambulance: A Horror Movie Comedy Podcast - Episode 389- Repo! The Genetic Opera (2008)

Episode Date: August 1, 2022

You guys. YOU GUYS. How do you sleep at night, knowing that you've suggested films that bring us such pain? This week it's the 2008 dystopian goth musical "Repo! The Genetic Opera." Special topics for... your consideration include: a mutual disdain for talk-singing, genetics: how do they work?, kernels of ideas that have gone to seed, whatever debt Paul Sorvino (RIP) had that got him to be in this film, a reconsideration of Paris Hilton, and some real honest-to-goodness angst from us. I guess we just love Paris Hilton, I dunno. Catch her in Episode 118- "House of Wax" and Episode 321- "Nine Lives." I genuinely hope she does another horror movie soon. Starting point is 00:00:00 Well, here we go. It's what you all wanted. Is this what you wanted? Is this what you wanted? Is this what you wanted? This is the movie you all wanted? I have COVID, you assholes. I got a message the day I was sitting down to watch this movie, from my partner, Missy, that said,
Starting point is 00:00:31 I hope you're happy you didn't watch this movie last night and Paul Servino died today. I know, I'm so sad. By all accounts, a well-liked guy. What I want... What the fuck is he doing in this movie? Singing. He's a talented man. Sure, no he was he was hitting notes, he was doing his thing. He can slice garlic like nobody's business. Yeah, he was on law and order which I like him, liked him in a lot. But here's, I want to talk about our listeners for a second. Okay, let's get into it. Why do they want these things? Why are you mad at us?
Starting point is 00:01:09 Does it, I, do you think it's like the Freudstein thing where somehow our pain keeps them young or alive or something? Like in House of the Cemetery? Mm-hmm. Do you think that's what it is? I like that I might might that I might that I might that I might th that I might th th th have th th have th th th tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho that tho tho tho tho tho tho that that tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that? Do you think that's what it is? I like that I might have thought of another Freudstein situation. I was worried that they wouldn't know what I was talking about. You know, like Shakespeare's Freudstein?
Starting point is 00:01:36 Oh yeah, from the Tempest, right? Well, I like that one. The Tumpest. But really, I mean, what did we do? Like, how come this? How come this happened? Here, let's spend eight years giving you free entertainment every single fucking week, except for last week, because I have COVID, and I'm very sorry we missed it, and this is it.
Starting point is 00:01:57 Mm-hmm. This is what you give us back? I like that. Because we didn't do this movie the first week, we said we're going to do it. And then you got COVID, so we miss another week of doing it, that there's like legit anticipation for this episode. Oh boy, no prech though. We're just lambasting them straight out of the gate.
Starting point is 00:02:17 You know, fuck you guys. Honestly, no, you guys are great. What the fuck is this movie? Hey, yeah, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, is it, th, th, th, is it, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th, th, th. th, th, th. th, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi, thi, thi, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, thee the tho tho thoo tho tho tho tho tho What the fuck is this movie? Ayah, is it a movie? This is one of those weird movies where critics generally panned it, but audiences really liked it? I was watching it going, is this a generational thing? I, what, how do you mean?
Starting point is 00:02:43 Is this something that's gonna like hit with younger folks than myself where I'm like a phantom of the paradise kind of fella? And this is their phantom of the paradise. I mean, I'm 10 years younger than you. Yeah, for sure. But I have to tell you I did not like it. But you're an old soul. I mean, let me just start off with this. I think it's a great concept. The idea of like futuristic, a futuristic, first of all, well, I was not really feeling a worldwide epidemic of disease, but sure. The idea- That causes organ failure.
Starting point is 00:03:22 Yes, as my heart races out of my chest. I like the idea of the organ repossession. I like this shitty capitalism, dystopian future of like getting sliced up and getting the organs taken back. I think that's a really cool curdle of an idea. And that's all it is. The end. Yeah. And I do like Paul Sorvino as a super villain. Because I think he has a real gravitas that makes him scary. And a the the the the the thia. And a the thia. And a the p. And a the thia. And a the p, and a thia. And a thia. And a thia. And a thia. And a thia. And a do like Paul Sorvino as a super villain because I think he has a real gravitas that makes him scary. And a ponytail. And a ponytail. Which turns out to be a wig and you're like why? Why just just get a wig without a ponytail? Whatever Instagram filter is on this entire movie makes all of the wigs so shity and fake looking? Yeah, especially for Shiloh, my God. I mean I know hers is meant to be a wig that you know is a wig because we see her put it on
Starting point is 00:04:09 but like, ugh. Her and Paris Hilton as well. Yeah, it's just the way the movie looks, it looks very reminiscent to Verodica, I think of just this like budget got with a Vaseline filter that like it's hard to take it seriously And I know it's meant to be campy, but like Ugh Missy asked the question if she was like is this in soft focus just so we don't know that Anthony head is old? Is he old? He's an older man for sure. Yeah, yeah, it seems like the age of a man who would have a 17-year-old daughter. Maybe. Yeah, I forget how old he would have been at the time of this movie. Yeah. Let's see. He was born in 54, so 2008.
Starting point is 00:04:58 Yeah. He's like 54 years old. Yeah. Which is the same age you'd be if you had a 17 year old I think. Regardless of when you have that 17 year old. When your kid turns 17 you turned 54. It's math people figure it out. I'm good at numbers. Anyway it's a reasonable age to have a 17 year old child. Anyway, I really like, I also really really liked the comic book intro. I thought it was. I thought it looked good. I was a. th. th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I t. I t. I t. I t. I try. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I try. Yeah. I try. Yeah. Yeah. I try. Yeah. I t. Yeah. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. t. t. too. too. too. try. try. too. try. try. try. try. try. try. try. try. try. t. did you? I did. I thought it looked good. I guess maybe because the movie itself looks so shitty that I was like, give me more comics at least. Yeah, I felt like for me it just felt like cheating. I was like, why didn't you make the movie part of this movie? Oh, you mean all the exposition? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Because they couldn't write songs? I don't know. Okay. Because they couldn't I fucking hate talk singing. Okay. I hate it. I hate it.
Starting point is 00:05:48 But musicals, which I have very little experience with. Sure. In general, have dialogue and then musical numbers, right? A lot of them, some of them are just like constant talks. I can't with that. Right, right, right, right. Like, and there's there's times when I like it, like I've mentioned it a hundred times on the podcast, the opening number and the music man, I fucking adore, but it's all talk singing, but it's like this hyperrhythmic thing that's happening and it's really interesting. And this is just like, dad, I want to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go. I to go. I to to to to to to to to to the th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I'm just just just, I'm just, I'm just, I'm just, I'm just, I'm just, I'm just just like, Dad, I want to go out and get some soda.
Starting point is 00:06:25 No, you catcher very sick. One of my first notes says, is he singing this? I can't tell if he's singing this. When Paul Sorvino in the opening scene that we meet him, and he's rapping or something, and it's just like, no, no, no no please don't do this to this poor man who just passed away today. I know man David Warner too I just watched see Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to Secret of the Ouse every day one day twice in a day for four straight days. Sorry to hear of his passing I feel like I did it to him by watching too many times. Is that a side effect of COVID-that you have to hear of his passing. I feel like I did it to him by watching everybody too many times. Is that a side effect of COVID that you have to want Secret of the Use that many times?
Starting point is 00:07:08 It's the side effect of quarantining with a five-year-old. I'm just trying to pacify them. She fucking loves that movie. Oh yeah, who doesn't? Oh yeah, yeah. I've never seen it. I th th then then then th. I th. I th. I've th. I've th. I've th. I've th. I've th. I've th. I've th. I've the. I've the. I've the. I'm the. I'm the. I'm that. I'm to to that the. that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that thi that to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to th. to th. th. th. th. th. th. the. th. the. the. the. theat theat theat thea. thea. thea. thea. thea. thea. thea. that that that thea. that that thea. It's to. Yeah. I've never seen it. I made it up. I'm sorry. So we meet Paul Servino's children. Yes. Who are the aforementioned Paris Hilton. Yeah, Amber Sweet. Ogre from Skinny Puppy for all of your industrial music fans out there. Nope. You never heard a skinny puppy? I, is it all one word?
Starting point is 00:07:46 Uh, no, I think it's two words, skinny and puppy? I don't know. Skinny puppy. I only know it if it's all one word. They're an industrial rock fan. It's not for me. Oh yeah, okay. And then, uh, the oldest son is one Chop Top Bill Mosley. As Luigi Largo.
Starting point is 00:08:09 And at this point I'm like, is this movie supposed to be set in Italy? No, well they say that Congress, in the beginning it says that Congress approves organ repossession, so I think it's America. But I think Oger thought his character was Italian because of the whole time he's so talking like this. Well, they're Italian-Americans. Rotty Largo is Paul Sorvino's name. Boy. Also like it's only 35 years in the future. Well from now I guess you know that was 15 years I'm not doing the math on this. But But the country had like floating pieces of land and you could only get to them by spaceship, I don't know, it's very stupid.
Starting point is 00:08:52 It's very stupid. Yeah. So we meet the, the, our, I don't know, Angenue of the film in Shiloh. And I was like, is she named after that Civil War battle? And the grave robber character, who is the deliverer of exposition. He looked very familiar to me, but of course I did not look him up. He's in nothing I've ever seen before.
Starting point is 00:09:21 Really? Okay. I 100% agree that he looks very familiar. Okay. He and the director of the film wrote the rock opera that this movie is based on. Oh, was it like a stage show before this? Yes. And apparently, it probably played better. Apparently very popular as a stage show. Yeah, I believe that. Which may be why Paul Servino was involved.
Starting point is 00:09:44 He loves the the the theater. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. th. the th. th. the the the the the the th. the the the the the the the the th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. I. the. thea. I. th. I. th. the. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the loves the theater. Yeah, he was a Broadway guy, wasn't he? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So there's like soldiers searching for the grave robber because grave robbing is outlawed. Because this is like another weird subplot that isn't really, doesn't talk, like there's a painkiller called xydrate that is being extracted from corpses or something? Like, like, like, like, like, there's like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, there? Yeah, there? Yeah, there? Yeah, there? Yeah, there, there's, there's, like, there's like, like, there's like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, there. there. there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there? There, there? There, there, there's there's there's there's there's there's a there's a there's a there's a there's a there's a there's a there's a there's a there's a there's a there's a there's a there's a there's a there's a there's a there's a there's a inkiller called xydrate that is being extracted from corpses or something? I do want to add a caveat real quick. I understand that currently grave robbing is also alone. Oh right, it is not come back. I said it like, oh in the future, grave robbing is out long. Don't fuck around and find out, you guys. This dystopia, where I can't even rob a body?
Starting point is 00:10:29 Yeah, so, yes, there's, I, I want me to convince something. Yeah. I had a really hard time being the fuck attention to this movie. I watched it over two days. I watched half one day and half this morning. I probably should have done that, rather than just powering through and by that I mean not really paying attention to what was happening. It's okay. I mean, I mostly paid attention. Yeah. But like, it doesn't, there are all these little things that don't gel together, even if you're paying attention, I think.
Starting point is 00:11:07 And for me there was nothing that like, oh that's my hook, that's my inn, that's the thing I'm going to latch on to. Yeah. Like, there wasn't even like, I thought maybe there'd be some good comedy or... Even like the gre isn't very good. No, no. And I mean, I do admit that my hatred of talk singing really hurt my enjoyment of this film. I think I had expected it to be more like there will be scenes of musical numbers, like Greece or something, you know? Sure. Where there are also just scenes of dialogue that you can, something to latch ontoto, I don't know. Instead of these people going, things you see in a graveyard.
Starting point is 00:11:53 For every market, a sub market grows. What? Shut up! Like, sing talking the exposition is a lot to ask us to get behind. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, I understand the idea of the Greek chorus, all of ing the exposition is a lot to ask us to get behind. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I mean I understand the idea of the Greek chorus, all of these things. It's, it's just not, it's not for me. It's this blood condition, damn this blood condition. Tell me why my genetics are such a bitch. It's a line in this movie. So, the company is called Geneco.
Starting point is 00:12:26 There's a lot of talk about... Jankos. Jankos. There's a lot of talk about gigantic pants. None of this actually has anything to do with genetics. Getting like your organs transplanted doesn't change your genetics. So the genetic things is the Munchhaus and by proxy of her father poisoning her and telling her that it was his mother her
Starting point is 00:12:52 mother's genetics that were fucking her up. I get that. Okay, okay. But it comes up a bunch of times like towards the end when they're had that final opera one of the... Lord of Mercy. Lord, Why does a corporation have regular operas anyway? But one of the guys in the audience who's talking about how great Geneco is is like, my genetics are restored or something and you're like, that's not a thing. That's not a real thing. I don't know. Oh, ayah.
Starting point is 00:13:22 So, we start the film with a lot of exposition about organ repossession, about this painkiller, that I think Gene Coe is selling but then black market sales are coming from extractions of corpses, extractions from corpses, I should say. Right, so there's all that exposition. And the, uh, the whole time, like he's, they're running from cops, who are using corpses as battering around? Or no, he's using a corpse as a battering round. Who's he? Who are you talking about right now? The grave robber? Okay, okay. Okay. And it's just like, what's thi that. thoo, tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. thi. they. thi. they. they. thi. they. they. thi. they. they. they. they. they. th. th. they. th. th. they. they. th. they. th. th. the th. th. the the the the the the the the the they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. They. They. They's. They's. They's. They's. They's. they. they. they. they. th. th. th. th. th. th. to. to. to. to. to. to. th. th. the the the the the th. of this have to do with the story that's being told? I don't know. I don't understand how the whole xy-drait thing has anything to do with our main storyline? Other than it's used in the surgeries that are done for people.
Starting point is 00:14:22 Yeah. Okay. Because like, I know, for people. Yeah. Okay. I know. And they're making this big deal of how like surgery for fashion has become this like, I don't know, it's not a new thing in 2056. It's not even a new thing in 2008, you know? Right, right, right, right. I don't know. Yeah. No. Uh, so we learned that Paul Sorvino is dying, which, which, you know? Right, right, right, right, right. I don't know. Yeah, no. So we learn that Paul Sorvino is dying, which, you know, God rest his soul. Yes. And he has this like, doctor that comes in and gives him the bad news and then he just like has one of his assassins shoot the doctor, which I actually thought was pretty good. I like that his his assassins are just hot women that hang out around him. Yeah they call them
Starting point is 00:15:07 gen turns I think which it took me the entire movie to figure out what a gen turn was and I think it's just a sexy lady and a nurse's costume. I don't know. It's a genetic intern. Yeah, a genettern. That's a bad portmante. I have a lot of notes here here here here here here hea th. I th. I have th. I have th. I have th. I have that that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's that's that's a that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's a that's that's that's that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the too. I too. I that's a too. I that's amanteau. I have a lot of notes here about genetic perfection. Like what is that? Do I have perfect genes? I think I do. I think you do. I think I do. Do you have perfect genes?
Starting point is 00:15:35 Ah, no, God no. All fucked up in there. Oh my god. It's the swirling mass of wow. They're looking at your gene pool like, is that an eel? How did you get algae in your gene pool? Jesus. So we get Nathan's story.
Starting point is 00:16:01 Oh, Lord of Mercy. Nathan is Anthony Head. Yes. Who is a good singer and I enjoyed his singing. He have started out in a band called The Heads, if I remember correctly. Of course he did. Yeah. Yeah. So we're getting his backstory, which is he had this wife who had a blood condition. And he's a doctor. And he's trying to treat her. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So we're getting his back story, which is he had he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's a he's a he's a he's a he's a he's a he's a he's a th. Who's a th. Who's a th. Who's a th. Who's a th. Who's a good. Who's a good. Who's a good. Who's a good. Who's a good. Who's a good. Who's a good. Who's a good. Who's a good. Who's a good. Who. Who. Who. Who. Who. Who. Who. Who. Who. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's a th. He's a th. He's a th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. th. and he's trying to treat her or he thinks he's finally come up with the treatment but he gives it to her and she dies yeah and she's like nine months pregnant so he does like an emergency C-section and pulls out the baby which is Shiloh which is Shiloh this is all a good being told to us via cartoon comic strips.
Starting point is 00:16:45 Yes, which I again thought was better. Loved it. Yeah. But he's also singing during it too, like Shiloh can never leave, she is my everything. And it's like, sir, you have to raise your kids to be independent people. And in this part we find out that he is a repo man. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, he's he's he's he's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. the. th. th. th. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He's out there working for Gene Co. Taking people's organs back. And killing them in the, while doing it.
Starting point is 00:17:12 If they can't pay for their organs, which nobody can, except for the Uber rich. So he's constantly taking people's organs back. I also, it didn't seem like he had a cooler to put them in, so it's like, are you going to reuse it or what? You just put him in your mouth and you take them somewhere. I think you have to keep them cold. Nah, just keep in your mouth, keep switching around. I guess that's, yeah, I keep a body temperature, huh? Yeah, yeah, maybe he's got a pouches, they're not marsupials. What am I, an animal expert? No.
Starting point is 00:17:47 Ha. Ha ha ha ha ha. So, cut to the three rotty children. Parasoton's first line and this is, where the fuck is dad, brothers? She had a singing career, am I, am I correct in that? She had a musical singing career, yes. Mm-hmm. She cannot carry a tune if it was in a bucket. No, they... No, she can't. They do auto-tune her quite a bit. Wowie, wow, wow, it's terrible. And like, you know, I'm inexplicably a Paris Hilden apologist and even I don't know why, but I don't think she gets enough to do in this movie. Speaking of I owe Paris Hilton an apology. For what? The thing that I one of the things I've hated her for is
Starting point is 00:18:34 wearing that t-shirt that said stop being poor yeah that was an internet fake. It really said never wore a shirt that said that I think it said stop being something else. Yep, thank you. Yeah. So I apologize for buying into that fucking fuckery on the internet. Also, she is very philanthropic, especially when it comes to children's medical charities. Oh, that's awesome. And also more oversight for kids who are in rehab,
Starting point is 00:19:02 or like juvenile facilities. Okaythat there should be more oversight that they're not being abused. That's great. I apologize for shitting on you for so long? Oh, I mean everyone does, it's fine. It's just me and Paris against the world. You, Paris, and that woman who married that guy from Good Charlotte. Oh, Nicole Richie, how could you say that woman?
Starting point is 00:19:24 She's Lionel Richie's little daughter. She's just married that guy. All I know her for is she married that guy from my favorite band, Good Charlotte. Yeah, you do love Good Charlotte. Oh my gosh. Their songs are so good. actually do know one. Hold on. Boop, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo. In this little song where the rottie children are arguing with each other, the one with
Starting point is 00:20:00 the face thing happening? The aforementioned ogre from Skinny Puppy. What is his deal? Why does he have that face thing happening? You know the aforementioned ogre from skinny puppy. What is his deal? Why does he have that face thing? It's just like his affect. He likes to wear other people's faces. Okay. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:13 He goes, my brother and sister should fuck. And you're like, what? Out of left field? I'm hoping that was ad libbed. God. I'm the smartest and the toughest. I will find a hole and fuck it. I will leave your diapers dripping. I'll barf on your lungs, brother. Guys, who says that? Guys, I don't know, one of them says it to the other.
Starting point is 00:20:41 This is where I wrote, I can't tell if the story is disjointed or just stupid. This might be around the book time that I have the note that says, Missy asked me why our fans hate us. They don't hate us, they just want us to suffer for their pleasure. We suffer for their art. Yeah. Oh, man. Oh, man. Why do I have the note hot dogs on the outside? Oh, is that because of the repo man taking somebody's insides and putting their hot dogs on the outside?
Starting point is 00:21:18 Presumably, but this movie is not about the re-possessions? No. Why, it should be. That's a better story. Sure. No, it's about this mob boss corporate man whose children are shitty. He ashes, dust. My children were robust. I must increase my bust. What debt did Paul Sorvino need to pay off that he had to do this movie? I don't know. I feel like he was putting in a new patio and there were like all these problems and went way over budget and he's like, fuck, I'm going to have to work.
Starting point is 00:21:59 I just remembered when it came out that his daughter was blacklisted by that shitbag Harvey Weinstein his reaction was oh I'm gonna kill the fucker yeah I wish he would have like he said it to like TMZ's like I'm gonna kill him yeah and I was like good on you yeah yeah Paul Sarvino is cool yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah so to the yeah yeah yeah I'm sorfino's cool yeah yeah yeah yeah tha tha' to the to the th I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I th I th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th the to to to th th th the to to to to to to the the the the the the th th th th th th th th th I'm th I'm th I I'm th I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I th th th the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the the to the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the So we learn now that, what is Shiloh's mom's name? Marty. Marty. Was with Paul Sorvino. Right.
Starting point is 00:22:34 And then left him for? Anthony Head. Yes. Nathan, if you will. So he somehow killed her? Paul Sorvino did. He put some poison in whatever medicine, like how I don't know, why. Katie, if I may, I swapped out the medicine with some poison, I put poison in I had somebody,
Starting point is 00:22:55 swap it, it believe is dialogue from this movie. I like how you're singing it in like an upbeat sort of Oklahoma kind of way, whereas every song from this movie actually just sounds like that riff from Living Dead Girl, the like, bahah, baa, baa, baa, bahah. You know what I mean? 100% too. Yeah. That's why it's been in my head for two days, I haven't heard it in 10 years. Dragula! It's the same song. It's just half speed. Yes he's poisoned Marty. He got Nathan to poison Marty. Right. To get back at Nathan for stealing in quotation marks Marty from him. Right. So it's a bold move. To murder a pregnant woman. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:50 It's bold. Yeah. Oh man and then we meet Mag the Blind Singer, Blind Mag. What the fuck is she in there? What is she, why does she exist in this movie? Well, she is actually a soprano in the opera. She has a beautiful voice. She was at one point married to Android Lloyd Weber. No shit. That must be a weird age gap. Right? She's not as young as you think she is. Really? This was 15 years ago, so she was in her 40s when this movie was made. Oh, she looks great. Yeah, she's like in her 60s.. She, she, she's th, she's th, she's th, she's th, she's th, she's th, she's th, she's th, she's th, she's th. She's th. She's th. She's th. She's th. She's th, th. She's th. She's th th the the the the th th th th th the th th the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thoooooooo thoo thooooo thoo thooo thoooo the thoo tho the th. the is. This was 15 years ago, so she was in her 40s when this movie was made. Oh, she looks great. Yeah, she's like in her 60s now. I really enjoyed her singing, I will say.
Starting point is 00:24:31 Her impulse, we know, and Anthony had all, I thought they were all very good at singing. And I thought she had the best costume design. Sure. She was giving me a singer from evanescence vibes. Okay, which is a fair look if that's what you're going for. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And I want to say on the other people who are clearly not professional singers, I feel like they all did their best. Bill Mosley was cranking it out as well as he could. And Shiloh is a kid. Yeah, yeah, she's like 19 in this and she's doing what you can, yeah. And Paris Hilton? Was born into wealth. And it gives you a certain sense of self that someone like myself might not have.
Starting point is 00:25:12 No, I think I might have actual talents and I'll never acknowledge them because I'm so poor. It's just from such poor stock. Oh yeah, Paul could wail though, for sure. Oh yeah, like, and I like that they like, it seemingly like wrote songs for him to be like, I don't know, be one of the fucking four tenors, let's go or three tenors or however many tenors. Okay, all right. We have three teners? Pavaradi and the other two. Pavarotti, the rapist and the the the the the the the the the the the the the thist and the thist and the the the thist and thist and the the thist and thist and the thist and the the thist and the thist and thaist and thaist and thaist and thist.ist and whateverer. thoes. thaveraversist. thaveraversist. thaveraveraveraversist. thaveraveraveraveraveraist. thaist. thaist or howeveraist or howeveraist or everaist or everaist or everaist or everaist or everaist or everaist or everaist or everaist or everaist or everaist or everaist or everaist or everaist. the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. Starting point is 00:25:46 Pavarotti, the rapist and the other one. Oh, which one's the rapist? Placidot Domingo? Oh, I don't think I knew that. Yeah, it came out of those like, or was busted for being a sexist. Careras, Careras is the third. Oh sure, sure. Yeah. Tia Carrer is the third, as a pretender. What do you think is an Italian-inspired body version?
Starting point is 00:26:15 That's something that's mentioned in this film. An Italian-inspired body version? Is it just having a fat ass? It's looking like one of those women that Dario Argento loves. Okay. Yeah, I think that's all that could be. Oh, Katie, begged you differ. Yeah. Okay, fine. I can say this is an Italian-American woman who has a fat ass. Someone's gonna hang if I don't get my coffee, decaf, I will shoot you in the face. That's an actual dialogue from this god-dam movie.
Starting point is 00:26:52 Yeah, I wrote it down. Oh, my God. We find out that Paris Hilton is addicted to the surgeries, and she gets her face all the time. Which is funny because each time we see her she has just her own face. Just Pairs Hilton's face. This the lady from a, oh fuck, what was the name of that ghost movie she's in? That's terrible.
Starting point is 00:27:14 Oh God, the one where everyone's inexplicably British but her. Scottish maybe. Yeah, oh man. Or the house of wax where she's very self-aware in the the dialogue the dialogue the dialogue. the dialogue. the dialogue. the dialogue. the dialogue. the dialogue. the dialogue. the dialogue. the dialogue. the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. or House of Wax, where she's very self-aware in the dialogue in that movie. I think she's a very smart person. I think she's built herself. I'm not going to do this anymore. Yeah, I mean, it's like you can't accuse the Kardashians of being stupid. They are not stupid. They're very smart, savvy people. You have to be stupid to marry Cognierierierierier Canianianianianianianianianiani Cani C. They are not stupid, they're very smart, savvy people. You have to be stupid to marry Conya West. Eh, do you? Or do you just have to be disassociated with reality enough that you think it's a good idea?
Starting point is 00:27:55 Okay, all right, I'll take that. So, why does a corporation have an official singer? Oh yeah, everybody does. Oh, Xerox, you've never heard their singer? I was just about to try to make a copy machine sound melodically, and I'm so glad I caught myself. Speaking of coffee machines, Paul Paul Servino keeps getting handed stacks of documents that are printed on clear paper and it was driving me insane because he was reading them like you could read the words.
Starting point is 00:28:33 Why would we have clear paper in the future? We wouldn't! We wouldn't and we shan't. We don't currently read books that are just leaves of transparencies piled on top of each other. No, it's like a shitty e-book, I guess. It's so stupid. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:53 Oh, man. It doesn't even look cool. It's like, why not just make like a fake computer tablet? Like anything. It's 208. It's a real computer tablet or something? Like anything. It's 2008. Use a real computer tablet. I don't know. Shush it up a little.
Starting point is 00:29:08 I mean, it's just the whole thing. Like all of my notes are just questions. Like, what organ is that? that a spine? That's not an organ? How do you get addicted to organ transplant surgery. Oh, I mean, who doesn't this day and age? Because the movie is ostensibly about organ transplant surgery. But every time they speak of it, they're talking about cosmetic surgery.
Starting point is 00:29:35 Why is it both things? Like, what are we talking about? Point of order? Yeah. What's the biggest organ on your body? Oh, your skin. Hepatermis. I don't like that you're defending that.
Starting point is 00:29:48 I do like that the grave robber rolls around in the back of a garbage truck who just rides at places. I think that's very funny. Like, Fucking Oscar the Grouch has to go to the store. It's gonna pick up some shit. Here's where I took my first break because I said that mom's portrait is glowing like a cheap effect in a dark ride and I can't take this anymore. And then I wrote this movie's halfway over and I'm still waiting for the plot to start. I will continue to wait. Well we moved on to Nathan has to take Mag's eyes back. Right. Because she can't
Starting point is 00:30:34 pay for her eyes because they're mad at her for something. No it's that she wants to stop being the official corporate singer. Oh is that what it is? So cutting these ties with Jean Coe means they're going to take her eyes back. And we also learned that she that she that she that she that she was that she was that she was that she was that she was that she was that she was that she was that she was th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. to th. th. th. th. to to to th. to to to th. th. to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the the their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. the the. the the. the the the the the the the. the the. the the. the the. they're going to take her eyes back. And we also learned that she was Marty's best friend. Right, right, right. And for 17 years to not know she was alive. Yeah. Okay. Well, I mean it all checks out. I, I guess this is the plot. You want to stop seeing, you're gonna stop seeing, we're taking your eyes back from your head. You're just so enthusiastic when you do it.
Starting point is 00:31:13 HENDRICKS AIMS. HENTT thi to the most ridiculous came in this movie? Are we to the most ridiculous came to this movie? Tell me who that is. That would be when Joan Jet shows up for the punk rock song. I missed Joan Jet, entirely. Are you joking? I am not. Man, I saw Joan Jet at the Big Butler County Fair when I was 14. I was super high and it changed my life.
Starting point is 00:31:38 I was like, I'm gonna be in a girl punk band. Hell yeah. She's cool. She's so cool. Yeah. And she's in this movie. Cool. Like she produced, I want to say she produced her recorded one of the germs seven inches. Oh yeah? Like she's just like cool as shit. Yeah, she's cool as shit. Yeah, she's cool. But yeah, so when Shilo is having a freak out at her dad... You cannot control me, father, daddy's girls, a fucking monster. And she gets like Avril Levine hair. And Joan Jett is the guitar player in her bedroom.
Starting point is 00:32:16 I did not realize that. Yeah. That's a fail on me. Well, I mean, yeah. I agree. Well, we'll talk about it afterwards when we're done recording. No, I think that's what I mean, yeah. I agree. Well, we'll talk about it afterwards, when we're done recording. No, I think that's what I deserve. There's a line in this movie where Paul Servino says, happiness is not a warm scalpel.
Starting point is 00:32:38 No, why would it be? What is that weird Beatles reference you just made? Also, he is wearing a wig. You'd think that the owner of Gene Coe would get hair plugs, right? Like a Thomas Jefferson wig? Yes, a Thomas Jefferson wig. My God. He also gags at the sight of his daughter's face, which is pretty funny.
Starting point is 00:33:03 For a long time, too. Yeah, she's, Harris Hilton has had a failed surgery. Yeah, which doesn't look particularly failed to us at the time. Well when she's, when she's on stage singing and her face keeps rolling down. I loved that actually, and that's also how she just picked it up. And then later her brother is wearing it. Oh, was he? I didn't notice that. Oh, geez. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:32 Yeah. Ugh. So is this where we have the big, big singing number, where they're just let blind mag go? Oh, go on. First he writes a will, a very informal will on one sheet of paper, that he is handwritten, that he doesn't th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the, the, tho. thooo. thoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. And, th. the. the. the. tho. th. th informal will on one sheet of paper, that he is handwritten, that he's leaving, he doesn't think any of his children are worthy of inheriting Gene Co. Right. So he's going to leave it to Shiloh. A child that he'd never met before. Right, are we, I kept waiting for the reveal to be that he was the father of Shil. that he isn't.. She's the product of the coupling that spurned him.
Starting point is 00:34:10 Why does he care for her? Well, his kids are so terrible. And he loved Marty so much that he killed her. Yes. This, it makes no sense. This is around the point where Missy said, oh, this movie hates women. Yeah, oh yeah, for sure. It's, it's just, yeah, because he tries to steal Shilo or successfully steals her and wants to kill Nathan.
Starting point is 00:34:41 And wants to kill Nathan? What, and how does he know that Nathan is Munchhausen by proxying her? He doesn't know that? No. I would have liked that being a twist at the end of this movie where he's like, you're not really sick and she'd stop taking medication and dies. I would have liked that as a twist. I would have liked anything as a plot device, you know?
Starting point is 00:35:07 I would have liked when he figured it out, he was like, well, I've got to call Child Protective Services. Yeah. She's a minor. She's still 17. Which we know because it's freer than 16 as she tells us as she sings us. And she's been palling around with the grave robber and I don't know why. What is his role in this? He's like Al and Quantum Leap except not as engaging.
Starting point is 00:35:30 I don't know what that means. You never watch Quantum Leap? No, how old do you think I am? How old do you think Quantum Leap is? I don't know. It was concurrent with X files, I do believe. No way. Quantum leap.
Starting point is 00:35:49 1989. Till? 1994. Yeah, yeah. When was X-Files on? I'm sorry, 1993. Oh, okay. X-Files ran. I didn't get into X-Files until I was much older, to be fair. So there's no chance you could have gotten into quantum leap?
Starting point is 00:36:08 Ninety-three, shut up. I haven't seen the wire yet. Someone suggested I spend my time quarantining watching the wire on Twitter and I was like, I have a fucking five-year-old. I was like, Lucy said she already saw it. Hey, Lucy, what if I find out about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about about drug dealing in Baltimore in the 90s? Let's go. Early 2000s. Oh, man. I just don't know.
Starting point is 00:36:35 I don't feel like we've evoked the name of God more in this episode than we ever have before. If there is a God, he's coming for us. This film has shaken me to my foundations. Yeah, I don't feel good. I don't. No. So... Blind Mag pulls our own eyes out. Yes, okay, so now we're at this the final opera. This is Blind Mag, which also sucks to get like a corneal surgery to be able to see and still be called blind mag. She's like I can fucking see. But yes. Oh legless chair over there he is the guy walking with prosthetic legs. All right. Okay. Okay. Oh no spleen Harvey? Yeah that's what's up. So yes this is her final opera. There's a ton of people there.
Starting point is 00:37:26 How often do these operas happen? Why did they happen? Shiloh's been watching them on television. Like, what is this? Why are they part opera, part evangelical revival? Why do you say that? Because there's all like the testimonials, and like, uh, uh, Rode is acting like he has done all this out of the kindness of his heart. Right.
Starting point is 00:37:49 Yeah, he feels like a real Benny Hinn type. Okay. Yeah, the one woman yells, my liver was wrecked, but now I can't. That's just liver trans- like, that's just a, that's a, what? I just, And it's like... And I can... I just don't... Can you mention the liver transplant doctor being like, well, I'm glad I wasted my time on that bullshit?
Starting point is 00:38:14 Right, so she's just going to have to get another one. How is she going to pay this one off? Okay. And then the one woman... Like, that's what I'm saying, she's thinking about liver transplants, right? This other guy is like, my genetics are now perfect, which has nothing to do with anything. No kind of surgery can change your genetics.
Starting point is 00:38:33 And then a third woman is like, I'm a single mom, but I've got these tets and pulls her top off. That's also not a transplant. I just, I'm sorry, I just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just. th. I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just th. th. I just, I just, I just, I just. I just. I just. I just. I just. I just. I just. I'm just. I'm just. that's just. that's just. that's just. that's just. that's just. that's just. that's just. that's just. th. th. that's just. th. th. th. that's just. that's just. that's just. that's just, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm just, I'm just, I'm just, I'm that's just, I'm that's just, I'm just, I'm that's just, I'm just, I'm just, I'm just, I'm just, I'm that's just, I'm sorry, I just hit my microphone there in a fit of rage. Maybe she got somebody else's tits. Oh, man, whose tits would I get if I could get someone else's tits? Elvira? It's done. No, those look uncomfortable. That's just me.
Starting point is 00:38:59 Never sleep well again, you know? Who needs to sleep and he got those bad boys? Yeah, yes. But prior to Blind Mag singing her very lovely song, they do this the testimonials, you're right about that, and then there's just women, I guess they're the gentrins and the nurses costumes grinding on stage and moaning, uh, what does that have to do with the opera? Uh, maybe they got sex organ transplants. Hmm. A job transplant. Okay.
Starting point is 00:39:33 Who knows? Oh, I got a new horny transplant. I think a lot of people would pay for that. So, yeah, Paris Helton comes out, start singing. Her face falls off and everyone booze her, which is very funny to me. And then she picks the face up off the floor and runs out. But then you're right, Blind Mag sings a very lovely song and rips her own eyes out.
Starting point is 00:39:58 Right. And we see while she's singing the song that she keeps kind of like closer and closer these long dagger-like fingernails are getting to her eyes. And she finally stabs herself in the eyes and then Paul Servino cuts her down from the wire she's hanging on above the stage and she falls on a metal fence that's on the stage because got because goff. Because budget got it's also budget got. What what cracked me up is that then this actor had to be impaled on stage for the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be toe. to be toe of toe of toe. toe. toe. toe. toe. toe. And then to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to be to be to be to be to be to be to be toe. toe. toe. toe. toe. toe. toe. toe. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. te. te. toe. toe. toe. toe. toe is that then this actor had to be impaled on stage for the rest of this fucking opera scene, which is not short. Not short. Not short. And the Repo man is there.
Starting point is 00:40:38 But why does he run on stage now? Because clearly this situation has resolved itself with MAG. You know what I mean? Oh yeah. He runs out like he's gonna do something. It's, it's you, they did, they did your job for you. I can't imagine. Okay. So like my notes go from, she gets impaled to, Shiloh knocks her dad out. Yeah, Shiloh is there to protect her from the repo man I guess. Yeah. It him with a shovel, but it's her dad. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:41:07 And then she's like, Daddy, you've been shoveled by me. I wrote this song between Shiloh and her dad is unbearable. And this is when she finds out about the Munchausen by proxy? Yeah, because someone says accidents don't end in murder, which is like... Which I want on my headstone. Yeah, because someone says accidents don't end in murder, which is like... Which I want on my headstone. Just to confuse the shit out of people. Alan, your last name, accidents don would be so good. That is very good. So all the main characters are on the stage now, and I don't know why, and I don't know
Starting point is 00:41:49 who I'm rooting for, and I'm just watching it play out, like, is there a plot to be resolved? I don't know. The only thing I'm thinking right now is like, do I have long fingernails that I can stick in my own eyes? I know. This is the closest I came to tapping out on a movie. I wouldn't have blamed you if you did. Although, other than when I fast forwarded in the dancing movie. Did you?
Starting point is 00:42:16 Yeah, there's the scene where she's walking for like 10 minutes I fast forwarded through it. Yeah, you didn't miss anything. Nothing. Nothing. Nothing. I wrote, we just saw a flashback of the whole movie and I still don't know what it's about. Not at all. And then dad gets shot by somebody? I don't remember who shot in. So Paul Sorvino puts a gun in Shiloh's hand and says basically kill your dad and I'll leave you the company because my children are such failures and they're all like, hey! Hey! He's kind th right th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, we tho, we tho, we tho, we tho, we're tho, we tho, we tho, and I tho, and I tho, and I tho, and I tho, and I th tho, and I tho, and I tho, and I th tho, and I th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th tho, we th tho, we're tho, we're tho, we're tho, thooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. I tho. I tho, and I tho dad and I'll leave you the company because my children are such failures and they're all like hey. He's kind of right though. Yeah she's like and Tilo's like I don't want to kill my dad but he just told her about the Munchhausen's my proxy and her dad's like yeah it's true I've been basically poisoning you. But he says shallow I been poisoning you, it's true. Now he's Kenny Loggins. I don't know where you're going with this. Shallow, you are in the danger zone.
Starting point is 00:43:14 What if Kenny Loggins sounded like that? So yeah, she's got the gun. I'm still thinking about Kenny Loggins, I'm sorry. But she doesn't shoot him, so Paul Sorvino takes the gun, the lights on the stage go out, and then he shoots her dad. Yeah. Why? Because he stole his girlfriend? Like 18 years ago. Yeah. Get to pull over it. Also I love that in the flashback cartoons, the cartoon Paul Servino is so young. Yeah, he really is. Like it's been a rough 18 years. Yeah, he's lived hard. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:44:01 Also he wouldn't have to look like that. He could get a face transplant. It's true. Got a full-body transplant. But yeah, yeah, so Shiloh has the gun. Before, before her dad gets shot, she's like looking at Paul Sorvino, she's like, you don't actually have to kill anyone, you can just go home. Well, someone's gonna. Someone has to die. And then it's like at least, to to to to someone, thso, thso, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, th, th, th, th, th, thi, they, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi. Shy's thi. Shile, thi, thi. Shile, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, to die. Right? Someone has to die. And then it's like at least shoot your dumb kids too. You don't like them. He doesn't. He doesn't. He doesn't. And then he just dies. Oh right, because he has a terminal illness.
Starting point is 00:44:33 Really, really, really well-timed death here for him. Oh my lord. In the audience, the entire time is just the their seats watching. No one is like calling an ambulance. What now? No one has called the police. There's a child on the stage being forced to murder her father. I feel like I'm going to get my cell phone out. That's entertainment in 2056, you know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:45:02 I guess so. The way this world's going? Yeah So the end of the movie is Paris Hilton is taking over the company and her brothers are supporting her. Is that what the end of the movie is? I thought Shiloh got the company. No, Paris Hilton's like I'm the new leader of the company. What? What? I'm the new leader of the company. What? the the the the the th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, I th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the th. th. th. th. th. th. the the th. thi, thi, thi, the the the the thi. the the thi. the the the the the the the the the the the the thi the the thi the thi the thi thi her. We thought she's cool. What? You don't remember that? No! Because the last thing we see is the will that shows that Shiloh is getting it. Yeah, but yet she doesn't. It's the Paris Hilton. She's walking out and talking to like the reporters that are outside of the opera. I didn't see that in any way shape or form. Maybe I gouged my own eyes out too. Your Joan Jet blindest had gone that far. That's really disappointing. Joan Jet, not the other stuff.
Starting point is 00:45:51 I don't care about not seeing the other stuff. And then that's the end of the movie. So how the fuck do people like this? Like is it just because, like the Rocky Horror thing? Maybe, which is also a thing I don't really get down with? I don't like it. I mean, I see that movie I can see why people do. Sure. But, and it's just not for me.
Starting point is 00:46:13 This one I'm having a hard time seeing why people like it. Yeah, I'm sticking with my generational thing. I don't think so, Alan. No, it's probably not right. No No, but I know they do like Rocky Horror type style events where people perform these songs A lot of the movie. Yes. Makes sense. I Google it. That's how I know. Okay. Does it make sense? Yeah, people listen to contemporary country, right? Like all these things are out there for somebody to enjoy. True. I guess I should yuck there yum, but...
Starting point is 00:46:51 Yuck! Yuck at you! Yuck at you! You should look in a mirror and think about how yucky this is. It's like something giving me a bowl of Rocky Road but all the peanuts are pencil erasers. I'd still eat that, I would, because I love marshmallows that much. Ooh, I wish I had Rocky Rhone. I wish I could go to the store. Okay, so...
Starting point is 00:47:20 Okay, so... We've got to rate it. I'm thinking about it. Hmm. I feel like I have to give it, I'm going to give it a two. Okay. One for Joan Jet? Two for the memory of Paul Servino. Oh, God, rest his soul.
Starting point is 00:47:45 That's, and nothing else about this movie. Okay, I'm gonna give this, I know I've been doing a lot of non-numeric ratings lately. Sure. I'm going to give this, having your fingers transplanted from one hand to the other, and vice versa, and then just being totally useless. So, 10 fingers. I didn't say that. You just gave Repo Genetic Opera 10 fingers.
Starting point is 00:48:11 I didn't say that. Also, the opera they go to is called the genetic opera. There's nothing about genes in it. No, but it seems to happen on like a weekly basis. Yeah. I just don't get it, Alan. Maybe in 2056, genetic means something else. Maybe. It's just like sort of baffling that, I don't know. There's so, there's ideas here, but none of them coagulate.
Starting point is 00:48:35 Yeah, yeah, from what I read, they, like, the movie is different than the stageplay was. Okay. And they like reshaped it to be in the movie, and I think it just, for me, th, th, th, th, th, th, th did not th did not th did not the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, to to to to to to to to to to the, to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the thean, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, than the stage play was. And they like reshaped it to be in the movie. And I think it just, for me, did not come together as a coherent piece of art. Maybe it's the kind of thing where if you were familiar with the play, the movie would be like, more of something to you, you know? Sure, sure. Katie. I've heard that you've got a review to read me.
Starting point is 00:49:06 Yes, thank you for reminding me because I absolutely would have forgotten. Okay, this is on the app, Podcast Republic, which I stopped using for a long time, because I was trying to use Stitcher, I was trying to make Stitcher work, and I just can't make it work because it's so shitty. So I finally went back to podcast Republic, and I was like thuned thired thired thired thired thired thired thired thired thia thia thia thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to theea. thea. thea. thea. thea. reviews. And we've gotten a couple. But I'm going to read you one. And I'm going to have to spell some words in it so I don't upset anybody. This is from user Dawn of the Dead, but Don is spelled D-O-N. And the review reads, seriously with these two, Alan and his friend Katie will dump all over the horror movies you like. Also, I found out I have two Amazon Alexa enabled devices when Katie yelled A-L-E-X-A call 911 once. What a bullhole. Love them, five
Starting point is 00:49:56 stars. So I'll never do that again I'm super sorry but will say, Alexa, play Alex Chilton by the replacements. I love that you sort of swatted somebody. I super didn't mean to do that. Thank you, Donnie to do that. You're the best. Please don't be mad at me. I'm sorry, I'm such a piece of shit. You absolutely are not what you just said you were. I'm a Bufle.
Starting point is 00:50:25 Can I read a message for Patron? Please. This is from Quayta Tool. You're better than that. It's what the name they wanted. It's what the name they wanted. It's what the name they wanted to be read on our podcast. Quite a tool says, as far as messages go, y'all are lovely and it's an absolute delight to listen to you two.
Starting point is 00:50:52 I've been making a conscious effort to watch and enjoy horror flicks as I never really used to in the past and you two have been instrumental in helping me find all the enjoyment to be had in this genre. It's not in this movie though, Quaetetool. Don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, th. th. th. It's not in this movie though quite a tool. Don't, don't, don't, let's, don't watch this one. Hope we never have to hear an episode on The Thing. Me too. Thank you for being a patrow quite a tool. Thank you. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:51:17 Thank you for supporting us. And for the thing, which I honestly think one of us is gonna die and that's how it ends, because I really think we'll be doing this like from hospice care. Is that okay? Accidents don't lead to murder? Wait, is that what it was? Accidents don't end in murder? Accidents don't end in, wait, accidents don't end in murder? Accidents don't end in murder.
Starting point is 00:51:45 I'm fucking dumb. Katie. Alan. Let's do another movie next week. Let's do one where no one's going to sing. I can't guarantee that. I think somebody might sing. It does happen in a sorority house.
Starting point is 00:52:03 What is it? It's a house on sorority row. Are you sure that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's the the the the the the the the the the the the tia.a.a.a.a.a.a.a.a.a. Ia. Ia. Ia. the the that's.a. Ia. Ia. What is it? It's a house on sorority row. Are you sure that's the title? Because when you told me that earlier you were like, or whatever, which didn't help me find it. Listen, oh yeah, my basement sewer, the septic system backed up into my basement so I've been having a week. Katie had COVID. We didn't say that at the top of this one. I think I've probably been bitching about having COVID. Let me double check that. What did you say house on? Sority row? Oh yeah house on sorority row comma the, the according to Google. It's from 1982 it's a horror thriller. It's available on Toobie, and it is also on the shutter, last I checked. Great!
Starting point is 00:52:48 So go watch that shit, y'all. It's got a whole lot of nobody's in it, too, so I think it'll be great. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I remember being a very fun and silly movie, and that's exactly what I need to stop reading books about the impending Civil War. Yeah, that's probably a thing I need to stop doing. I don't think that's good for you. Yeah, but I can't stop to, I'm also reading a book about a epidemic that's taking over America. So it's fun. Wait, what's that epidemic? It's called the Book of M and it's about an epidemic where people lose their memories and their shadows. Oh, it's fiction.
Starting point is 00:53:26 It's fiction. I see. Yes, shush, shush, shush. But it's still like, we... Wee! I think we should try to find, because I need to get off Twitter. Every time I have like five free minutes, I'm like, let's see what's happening in the news, the news, the news, the news, the news, the news, the news, the news, the news, the news, the news, the news, the news, the news, the news, I think we need to find something to do with our hands and brains that isn't shitty. I feel like the my current reading intake is the equivalent
Starting point is 00:53:52 of when I feel down and I just non-stoplessly disintegration by the cure. Buddy. You like to, your thing is wallowing. You don't want to get away from, but you're a wallower. I'm a wallower. I like to get deep in that shit. I like to just and take it and shove it down. Just shove it into the pit of my stomach as hard as I can. Yeah, I just like to wrap myself in it, like bat wings. I don't know, man. The more you shove down, the more you can take, you know. Put that on my tombstone. But I like feeling sad. But I like feeling numb. Go watch house with sorority hero. Also, find a way to stay young and alive that isn't making us suffer, okay? Like, get yourself together.
Starting point is 00:54:47 We're the Doreen Gray painting in the attic for these people. We truly are. And despite anything that might have said otherwise, we do love you all very much. You guys are assholes, but you're our assholes. And I don't know what we do without you. So assholes, come back next week. We're going to do another movie. Get back here and listen to us do this again. You asshole, come get a hug. Yeah, bring it in, bring it in. So thanks for listening to another episode of Warewell Fabulance. Bye-bye. Empty. Clear. Clear. Clear. Clence. Bite by. Empty? Clear.
Starting point is 00:55:25 Clear. Claire. Claire. Maniacs are not dead rules, Savin' sighting at the pool. No way to make villains to fulfill reviews. Killing lights and let the face. Can't live in the atmosphere. A piece. Occupy it's ato case. Please make I continue to pray.
Starting point is 00:56:08 E&T. A road and comedy reviews hungry, Brian, her acquaintance and Stephen King. E&T. We lived deliciously bad tree so we's crazy kind to die. A paranormal act in trees. Atrees of bees, crazy contendating. A paranormal act of duties from Mr. Patrick's city. END, END. END.
