Starting point is 00:00:00 Hello and welcome to another episode of WhereWolf Ambulance. I'm Katie and I'm here with my friend Alan. Hi Alan. We're also here with our friend Tara. Hi Tara. Hello. How are you? I'm doing awesome. Good. Did you guys hear that? Did you guys hear that? You hear what? What is it? I think there's somebody... I think there's bottles of pee in this closet. Someone has been living here for days. Disgusting days.
Starting point is 00:00:31 Tara brought us your next. I did. Tell us a little bit about why. Well, spoiler alert. I love this movie. I love it. I saw this in the theater, actually right after I had seen the conjuring and... Sweet Christ.
Starting point is 00:00:46 I hated the conjuring. It was super boring, didn't scare me and all, and also no one died. So my friend who went to see that with me, we went to go see another horror movie and I was like, this time let me pick. I didn't know anything about your next, but I So we checked it out and we were freaking out. We were having so much fun. It was awesome to see in a packed theater. It was great. And so I brought it to our Lady's Nightmare Group
Starting point is 00:01:10 as our first film that we all watched. This is our inaugural film. It was our inaugural film. It was our inaugural film. It unbelievable for anyone, lady or not, to behave the way that Aaron does in this movie. But just not freak out at all. Yeah. We're gonna do spoilers in this, by the way.
Starting point is 00:01:31 And you should really watch this movie because we're gonna spoil the ending for you. So it's definitely a beast of a film Stop listening. And welcome back. Hi. Did you like it? Because we're going to talk about it. It opens on this house and basically the middle of nowhere. Right. And there is an older, an older dude, bone and down on a younger lady. Yeah, like, disproportionate. to disproportionate.
Starting point is 00:01:55 Also, she's wearing socks, which I feel like as a non-starter. No. I felt like that was a that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was a that was a that was a that was a nod to 70s porn. Oh maybe. It's a lot of socks in 70s porn. Why? What about open, unbuttoned shirts? Because she was also doing that, which seemed... But she was also looking bored to tears. Yeah. That is true. Larry pheasant didn't go into town on her. Later find out that he's a college professor and that she's his student. And she is so bummed. Why is she so bummed? Why is she even in this creepy mountain home with him? I'm unclear. She has no lines. No. She also makes a screwdriver, which I do feel like
Starting point is 00:02:29 is a classic college girl. College. So I really like that. Totally a college girl thing. And she also has boobs right away in this movie. Oh yeah. I didn't remember that that that that that that that that that their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their. .
Starting point is 00:02:38 . So that's nice, I guess. So he goes to take a shower and she's moping around, mixed screwdriver, and then puts on the song that you'll hear about 400 times in this movie. I've been singing the song to my cat all week. It's a good-ass song. It's a really good song. One of the things I'm most grateful for is this. I've been looking for my Glenn man. He doesn't like it. He's not that into it. I don't know. I like it. Yeah, Dwight Twilie. Also that CD must have just been a single because Noah, it's like repeat disc, but no other songs play. I wondered about that too. Did she just make a mixtape of one? I mean, was this
Starting point is 00:03:14 his song? It's got to be his. That girl definitely doesn't know that song. She was like this is the only the only the only the only the only the only the only th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. That's th. That's th. That's th. That th. That th. That th. That th. That th. That th. th. th. th. That th. That thi thi that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that th. th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. th. th. th. It's th. th. th. th. th. thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi the. the. the. the. the. the. that that that that that that that that that that that the. th place. Yeah. You don't even have any Rihanna. That's what kids like? Maybe. That's where. She sings that umbrella song, doesn't she? That's right. I also watched a video alive of this of the song being played live and Tom Petty is playing guitar. Like a young baby Tom Petty. I will admit that I read the Wikipedia article of this band because I was it has such a classic sound that I was thinking do I know this band? Do I know this on? No absolutely not. Absolutely not. But it's definitely something I will listen to regularly now. So she puts the song on and then I forget how she sees something outside. She sees something outside. Also she hears a wind chime which is a wind chime. th. She's something th. It th. It th. It. It. It. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's a th. It's a th. It's. It's a the the the th. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. I. I. I. I. th. I. th. I. th. th. I. th. th. I. I th. I. th. I. I th. I th. I. I. I. I. a wind chime, which is terrifying enough. And it's also made out of rusted forks and spoons.
Starting point is 00:04:06 I feel like maybe she's just staring at that, wondering what was going on there. Yeah, oh, you're right. Also, fuck a wind chime. People have winchime's are. Fuchim, thii. This is a PSA do you think you are? They're signing up for your tuneless clanging and no one's interested.
Starting point is 00:04:29 Anyway. My house is made out of wind chimes, guys. Well, you're also a little bit of an ass. We might murder you later, I'm just saying. I'm going to come to wind chime and then paint your next to it. You're done. They smash the window. Yeah, window glass is broken. And then what's his face gets out of the shower and sees the, you're next on the mirror?
Starting point is 00:04:54 One of my fears every time I take a shower is coming out and something terrible has happened while I'm in the shower. That's why I just don't. I just, just real quick in the sink, rinse it out. Always shower with a friend is my policy. So they're dead. I love that the, your next on the glass is the opening credit. Yeah, that's the title card and I think that was genius. Yeah, it's cool. There's a lot of set pieces in this film that I just think are beautifully shot. They're just beautifully set up. A lot of the deaths are really gorgeous. Where was this filmed? It's like Columbia, Missouri.
Starting point is 00:05:27 Oh yeah. I'm just going to come in with that. Because after I saw it for the first time, I was kind of thinking, where's this house and can I live in it? Because I'm, I love the look of it. It kind of has a very actually actually actually actually actually actually actually actually actually actually actually actually actually actually actually actually actually, And if I remember correctly from my research like three years ago or whenever I saw this in the theater, you can actually run it out for different movies and things like that.
Starting point is 00:05:49 Oh cool. I plan to fill in a movie in it. So we see this middle-aged couple driving to the house next door basically. Yeah, Barbara Crampton's the mom. That's Barbara Crampton. She was in Reanimator, which is a movie that we've done previously in the podcast. I didn't realize that was her because she looks like a middle-aged Dinarus Targarian in this movie. Well, they had to... What is with her hair? What is with her hair? What is it? What is with her hair? What is her hair?
Starting point is 00:06:13 She looks also really young. That French twist? Exactly. And she has a black glove poised in front of her chin. And she looks very Audrey Hepburn. And then her name is Aubrey. And I'm just, I find that very odd. Yeah. Apparently when she showed up on set, they had hired her sight unseen, just knowing that it was Barbara Crampton. I'm very excited.
Starting point is 00:06:37 She shows up and she looks 25. Crampton doesn't age. Yeah. So when you see her in that first shot, you can tell that they've got latex on her like giving her wrinkles that she didn't have. The first time I watched it, I did not recognize her. And then I like read the credits and I was like, the fuck was Barbara Crampton. As a kid I had a huge crush on Barbara Crampton. She looks great. Yeah, she does. This is a good. This is a good th. This is a good th. This is a good th. This is a good th. This is a good th. This is a good th. This is a good th. This is a good th. This is a good th. This is a good th. This is a good the time is a good th. This is a good th. This is a good th. This is a good time th. th. the time th. the time the time the time the time the time the time. the time. the time. the time. the the time. the time. I the the time. I the time. I I I I the time. I I I I I the time. I the time. th. th. th. I I th. th. th. th. th. th. I th. th. th. I th. th. I th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. I thi. thi. th. thi. thi. th. thi. I the first thi. I the first the first thi. I terrible. Well, I was not to say I loved everything everyone was aware of. I loved it. I thought they were so well-dressed for like who they were. Oh, it's a wash-the-neck.
Starting point is 00:07:12 I love Drake's mock turtle neck. It's so perfect for him. I just thought the costuming was so good for the characters. Kelly's a beating her head. Yeah and Zee's just wearing like punk rock girl clothes. See actually looks awesome so I will agree with you there. Here's a question. It seems just be set up that mom's kind of crazy or like real high strong or like pills. That's like never really explained just the same way that college girl being real bummed isn't explained. I feel rich middle-aged on we was kind of the unspoken explanation there. Okay. Yeah I feel I feel like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I feel like. I feel like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like. I that. I that. I that. I that. I that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that's like. that's that's that's that's that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the college. c. th. th. th. th. th. the unspoken explanation there. Okay. Yeah I feel like that was also a nod to the the waspi mom who's you know hooked on
Starting point is 00:07:50 her ludes and all that stuff like yeah seemed like everybody in the family was popping something at some point. I see right and then that kind of helps that they discount her you know calling her paranoid when she thinks that she hears something oh probably, probably just the drugs. I see. She's also just weird too, like, the Australian girls like, can I help you while she's washing dishes and she's like, go down the street and ask a stranger for milk. Like I think she just wanted to help with the dishes.
Starting point is 00:08:16 I have a note that says who goes to the neighbor for milk. I have a note that says that says that out of milk when you've been there for 12 hours? That just means you didn't bring it. You didn't bring it. It's your fault. You should be try to send her away and maybe she'll get murdered? I don't know. You're going to need her later.
Starting point is 00:08:35 Do you think their kids coming up to this mountain home for their 35th wedding anniversary. Their kids are shit, basically. Totally. They really are. Crispin, who were introduced to first. Total piece of shit. Crispin.
Starting point is 00:08:57 I will say when we saw this in the theater, that the scene where the dad is opening the closet door is super super tense. So when you get the jump scare when Crispin puts his hand on his shoulder and he turns around and says, Crispin, everyone in the theater lost it. Everyone was laughing hysterically and I still laugh when I hear it. And I wondered did they just pick that ridiculous name because they knew everyone were just burst out laughing. Who was named Crispin. Just Crispin Glover. Actually, when I was a kid, I was obsessed with cabbage patch dolls, and my uncle Frank got me a boy cabbage patch doll, which is not what I wanted. But his name was Crispin.
Starting point is 00:09:31 But his name was Crispin. Yeah. Wow, mine was named. And I'm ever being like, I don't, this is a rich kid name to. Yeah. It's a rich kid name? Because Drake is totally a rich kid name too. And the shitty rap. Oh yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:49 At first I was like, a sad rapper. Get standed. A sad Canadian bound to a wheelchair rapper. Jimmy. Um. That's for all you de grassy heads. Crispin is the first one we're introduced to. He's kind of our entry into the family. And he has this Australian girlfriend, Aaron, who is just so perky.
Starting point is 00:10:08 The tanist. The tannest of ladies. It's just extremely tan. That's what it's like, you know, in the outback, though. Yeah. Yeah. So, when are we going kind of spoil the ending. This was the second time I watched this movie. And the second time I watched it, I was knowing the ending, I was like, oh, it's so obvious.
Starting point is 00:10:27 It's so obvious. It's so obvious. It's so obvious. I like, because in the first I watched I was like, I like him, I like him. I'm like, the it took me so long to be suspicious of him. When he's all, oh, a cell phone jammer, which you can buy for $30 on Amazon.com. And Drake goes, Felix, you fucking low life, which is my favorite line in the movie.
Starting point is 00:10:52 I love him. Well, Felix looks like an evil goat. So I think that should have given way. I think kind of like a low Yeah. I don't know, his cold discordant look. So it turns out that there's the three brothers. There's Felix, there's Drake, who everyone loves with me. I love him. There's Crispin.
Starting point is 00:11:14 And Crispin and Felix have colluded with these murderers to murder the family so that they can collect the inheritance. Felix Felix Felix Felix Felix Felix Felix Felix Felix Felix Felix Felix Felix Felix Felix Felix Felix Felix Felix Felix Felix Felix Felix Felix Felix Felix Felix Felix Felix Felix Felix Felix Felix is the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the their their the. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Felix, I guess, is the black sheep of the family, and Crispin is the fuck up. Yeah. Right. Even though he seems to be like maybe a professor? But he can't get the fellowship. Oh, what is the fellowship?
Starting point is 00:11:29 Oh, what is the fellowship? Even people who are unpublished can get the fellowship. His dad was really unsympathet to have one of the best deaths in the movie. Yes. And that scene preceding her death is probably my favorite when they're all arguing about running and like Drake. I'm the fastest. Nobody gives me any credit.
Starting point is 00:11:53 No, you guys never give me credit from anything. I love that. And Drake's yelling at Chrisman about, if you ever run, you're fat. I don't, I they, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, th, th, th, th, th, the, th, th, th, th, th, th, their, th, th. I, th. I'm, th. I'm, th. I'm, th. I'm, th. I'm th. I'm, th. I'm, th. I', th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. I', th. That, th. That, th, probably, probably, th, probably, probably, th, probably, probably, th. That, probably, th. That, th. That, th. And, th. And, th. And, the th. And, th. And, th. And, the th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, thi. thi. theea. thea. thea. thea. thea. thea. thea. thea. tha. thea. thea, at my family all the time and they yell at me all the time So I feel like it's really I felt it was realistic I it was like a good family dynamic because it was it totally brought up Drake and Crispin Fighting still and Drake being such an asshole of him saying I'm the fastest but I have a fucking arrow in my back. I love that's so good the family's got together for this dinner the the family the the the the the the family the family the family the family the family the family the family the family the family's the family's the family's the family's the family's the family's the family's the family's the family's the family's the family's the family's the family's got I'm the family's got the family's the family's the family's got the family's got the family's got I'm the family's got I'm the family's got I'm the family's got I'm the family's got I'm the family's got I'm the family's got I'm the family's got I's got I's got I's the family's the family's the family's the family's the family's the family's the family's the family's the family's the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the family's the family's the family's the f. the f. the f. the f. the f. the f. the f. the f. the f. the f. the f. the f. the the the the the the the the dinner and they're sitting around the table and they've started fighting. That's when Ty West as Tariq stands up. He sees something out the window. I love that he plays the filmmaker character in this too and he's just like wearing a dumb scarf and he's like totally the stereotype of a filmmaker. I also love the conversation about commercials. I I also love the conversation about commercials. I say that I wa. I say that I like. I say that I say that I say that I say that I say that I say that I say that I say that I say that I say that I say that I say that I say that I say that I say that I say that I say that I say that I say that I say that I say that I say that I say that I say that I say that I say that I say that I say that I say that I say that I say that I say that I that I that I that I say that I say that I say that I say that I say that I say that I say that I say that I say that I say that I say that I say that I say that I say that I say that I say that I say that I say that I say that I say that I say that I say that I say that I say that I say that I say that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. I say that. I say that. I say that. I say that. I say that. I say time, I just think it's so great. But there are documentary commercials.
Starting point is 00:12:45 I don't think it has to be one thing. How do you not like Drake? I'm so stupid, I love him. Because I grew up in the 80s, and he's just every asshole in an 80s movie. You should be driving a convertible. He's like every, every jerk, every rich prick, he would try to steal from me. he he me? She's yours. It's okay. So anyway, go ahead.
Starting point is 00:13:06 I think she's yours, actually, according to Office Killer. I do love her. So Tariot gets shot in the fucking forehead. It's a good scene. It's fantastic. And it takes him forever to fall down. I think this is the fourth time I as long as he can. Which brings up something I really like about this film is that it sort of reminded me a little bit of the new French extreme cinema of the early 2000s,
Starting point is 00:13:29 like high tension and martyrs and stuff like that, with just the sort of ultra-violent aspect of it. But it also had this dose of comedy in it that those films don't have. Like him just standing there like rocking back and with an arrow sticking out of his forehead until everyone notices it. Everyone has to see him before he hits the ground, which I thought was fantastic. I think the humor in this movie was a big part of the win for me just because I feel like the feeling of being super tense can either end in you sort of exclaiming in horror or bursting out laughing.
Starting point is 00:13:58 And I like that this really towed that line. And when we were watching in the the the theater, people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people people, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I was watching, I was watching, I was watching, I was watching, I was watching, I was watching, the the the th th the th th that, the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the, the the, the the, the, the the the the, the the the the, the the the the the the, I, I was watching, I was watching, I was watching, I, I was watching, I, I was watching, I, I was watching, I was watching, I was watching, I was watching, I was watching, I was watching, I'm, theat, theat, theat, theat, theat, theat, theat, the theat, the the the the the the the the the the the the the theater I mean people were really laughing at the hilarious parts and really it was such a ruckus and joyous experience watching it which I thought which was something that I really loved about it because I I think horror if it is just supremely scary that's all it's about there's a place for that too but I think that the horror comedy even though it's maybe the hardest to pull off is probably my favorite. It was definitely pulled off well here. Yeah I would say the comedic and I think good comedic aspects in a I mean even alien has like like laugh lines and stuff like they they set you off kilter it's like even a movie that's like too intense for some people like Last House on the left you know it's terrible the stuff that's happening in that movie and then
Starting point is 00:14:39 there's these two bumbling cops who have like bumbling cop hillbilly music playing behind them the whole time. It makes the horror that much more upsetting when that hits. So like at this point like all hell breaks loose and crossbow bolts are just flying through the window and I was just like oh so smart you don't want to fire a gun somebody one of the neighbors is going to hear a gun you want to shoot a crossbow bolt. That's genius. A crossbow is not a great weapon is not. A th. A th. A th. A th. A th. A th. A th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th th th th the th the the the th the the their the like all all all all all all like all like all like all like all like all like all like all like all like all like all like all like all like all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the. the. the. the. th. No. I mean like at least in the D&D universe. Right, right, because you got to put your foot on it and then draw it back. It takes an extra round. In second edition you're going to have to add a lot to your D10 roll and I don't know. You want to get the first folly off with the crossbow and then go in for melee. Yeah. I mean that's the way that's the way that's that's the way. That's the way the way the way the way the way the way the way the way the way the way the way the way the way the way the way the way the way the way the way the way the way the way to do. to do. That's to do. That's to do. That's to do. to do. That's to do. That's to do. That's to do. That's to do. That's to do. to do. to do. to do. to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to do. to to to do. the way the way the way the way the way the way the way the way the way the way. the way. the way. the way. the way. the way. the way. the way. the way. the way. the way. the way. the way. the way. the way. the way. the way. the way. the for a backstab though. They go for a thu. Nerds. Yeah. They run around with chairs to block them from the crossbow bolts. And then Felix basically suggests that someone should run to one of the cars.
Starting point is 00:15:34 So stupid. And even the way he suggests it too, it's like, oh, he's in on it. the thinn't. I I I I I. I. I. I. they's like. they's like. they's like. they's like. they's. they's. they're they're they're they're they're they're their. they're they're their. They're to they're to to to their. They're they're to to they're to to to their. They're to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to they to to they to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to their. their. their. their. their. They. their. They. They're their. They're their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. to to to to their. it? The chair thing is the first time we see Aaron just be like, all right, everybody get your shit together, everybody get over here, everybody get on the floor, everybody pick up a chair and you run past that window with a chair and you get into the room and there's no windows. I was like, who is this woman? What is this kind of like gross weird guy Chris Ben and they're like so lovey-dovey in front of his parents and ooh and then that happened I thought I re-evaluate Aaron is a badass but why is she with him that's it's not because he was nice to her I think when you know a lot of people are nice to her
Starting point is 00:16:15 maybe it was an escape from her she you know, stressful, horrible childhood to be with someone who's kind of milk toast. Yeah, she's just with this lumpy, lazy, dude. Yeah, because she won't have to hammer nails in boards and, you know. God, fucking love that so much. Felt people down the basement. So Felix convinces all of the scene that we were describing four of them all yelling at each other and it's decided that Amy is
Starting point is 00:16:45 going to do it. She says the line, I can run three miles in 25 minutes, which I didn't pick up until I was watching it again this week. Yeah, she like sobbing says it. I love it. It's really funny as three miles in 25. As she's like getting ready to run out the to to to to to to to to the door to the door to to the door to the door the door the door to the door the door to to the door the door the door the door the door the door the door th. th. thirty thirty to to thirty to thirty thirty to thirty to to to thirty to th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thirty thirty thirty thirty thirty twoom twoom twoom two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two th. th. th. th. th. thi thi thi thi thi thi throooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo- th th th th th th th two-ne scene of her like, da da da da da da, you know. She looks so pure and desperate. Yeah, they open the doors at the last minute to let her out. And her fucking head gets cut off by like a piano wire that's been stretched across the doorway. And I just realized she took, she took off her brown jacket to be in like virginal white when she ran out of her door. So do you think Felix knew Felix knew that she was going to be the one to run because it was at her neck height. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:17:25 Anybody else would have caught it right in the chest if Drake had run out. I wondered if he just thought maybe they were going to be picked off by a gun or something when they were out there. I wonder if he knew about the brot or not. But the fact that it just twangs forever and then little drop of blood. She like falls back into the house and her neck is cut open and it's a whom, and they're all just screaming. It's just like 10 people screaming. That might be also what kind of reminded me of high tension that,
Starting point is 00:17:51 because high tension is it scene where the mom gets her throat cut. Have you seen? There's a scene where a woman gets her throat. So it was kind of like that like yeah, we should watch high tension. I don't know if you could handle it No, you couldn't we can't watch it. It's too bloody you wouldn't be able to have it. We have it on our list for ladies Nightmare. It's on our list or one of our members said Who's on? It might be a little too gross? Kelly. Yeah, I was like, Kelly from the office? If you say too gross. If you say that it it it it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, th, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to to to to to to the the to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to their, or their, or their, or their, or to their, or th. Fox was so good though, when are you doing your frogs podcast? I have actually looked for it. What? You get to see Sam Elliot's penis?
Starting point is 00:18:31 Through a pair of really tight jeans? But it is like very tight jeans. It is like, of course it is. It's half. It's, I don't remember anything. I just remember we're usually very chatty during Ladies Nightmare. It became silent. We just were observing the female gaze. Yeah, so good. Yes, keep talking. I'm just going to do a quick image search. We'll look for this one on our Instagram sometime this week. Sam Elliot's Dick from Frog. We'd definitely be posting then. So at this point in your next, Aaron, the Australian girl says that you can text 911. So even though they had the the the th, in the th, in th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, their just their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just, their, their, their, their, their their their their their their their thr-a, thr-a, thr-a, thr-a. toooooooom. I's tooome. I'm just to keep to keep to keep to keep to keep to keep, their-a, their th. Yeah, I's that you can text 911 so even though they had the cell phone calls blocked she was able to send a text message 911 which I didn't know you could do I don't know if that's true oh yeah you can it's good to know
Starting point is 00:19:10 most you can why did the Australian girl know that none of the Americans? Because she's a survivalist and would know all of that stuff yeah I think she would be texting 999 or whatever wherever she goes she's the kind I I I I I th I th I th I th I th I th I th I th I th I th I th I th I th I th I th I th I th I th I th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th. th is th. th. th. th. th. th is th. the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. the the. the the the the the. the the. the. the. the. the. to do to make sure she's safe. She's the kind of person who goes and like does all the double, you know, dead bolts and you're right. Yeah, you're right. I liked her survivalist back story and I like that it was just accepted because she's Australian. I like that's what it's like when you grow up on the outback. I think that's the kind seems realistic. I feel like probably every child in Australia knows how to survive in the wilderness. I mean, I guess they have all those huge bugs and stuff.
Starting point is 00:19:46 This is a scene that actually really makes me angry. The dad takes the mom upstairs and tucs her into bed. And leaves her, everyone in this movie, is like, thrown. the movie, fine. the kids. You just saw them like two seconds ago. They're totally fine. Except for the ones who are dead. Which they're dead, they're dead.
Starting point is 00:20:10 Status not updated. They're dead. They're adults. My partner who I was watching this with, did point out that it was a very affectionate scene or like, took care of her and... And then left. And then left, because she'd be safe. Who's not safe in their own bedroom? Of course you're gonna be safe in your own bedroom. They knew there were bad guys in there. They didn't know they were in the house.
Starting point is 00:20:30 But she knew they were still outside. She's suspected. Yeah, but she's already gone, Doesn't make any goddamn sense. I do like that you took down rich people, though. That's my job. What was the girl's name? The collar that was eating her head? Oh, Kelly. She runs down to the neighbor's house.
Starting point is 00:20:55 Well, first, in a scene that I love, so she, for some odd reason, is left alone in the room with a mom. And she looks under the bed, and what I th is is is th is th is, th is, th is, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, the the the the the the the thi looks under the bed and what I love is that it's got all that tension and you expect it to be she doesn't see anything and she moves away and there it was she looks under the bed and there's something fucking there and I just think that's oh that's after the mom is killed she's like there with the mom's body oh god time jump that's okay Barbara Crampton and in bed and she hears something and looks on earth no we don't she doesn't even hear something we just see a hand come out from running the bed and I was but I've seen the movie twice now and both times no fuck that fuck
Starting point is 00:21:31 everything I fucking hate everything like I'm done it's one of my one of my biggest nightmares things under the bed no just a fucking human being under my bed like home invasion movies are the only horror movies that scare me because I don't the the the the the the the the the home home home home home home home home home home home home home home home home home home home home home home home home home home home home home home home home home home home home home home home home home home home home home home home home home home home home home home home home home home home home home home home home home home home home home home home home home home home. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th I I I'm th I th th the. I the. I the. I'm the. I'm the. I the. I'm the. I'm the. I'm the. I'm th. I'm th. horror movies that scare me because I don't believe in monsters, I don't believe in ghost, like wherewolves nothing. Like I believe in wherewolf ambulances guys. Oh, sure. Home invasion, that shit's real. Like there's a today. I remember missy tell me a story about in Oakland. There was a guy who like dug a hole through his basement into his neighbor's house, went to the house, murder the woman because she pissed him off. Fuck, fuck that, fuck everything. I just read a story today about an ex-boyfriend of a woman who lived under a bed and their spare bedroom for three fucking days. What? What?
Starting point is 00:22:10 Why? We see the hand come out. We don't see Barbara Cramton's death scene, but they hear screaming, the the the their the sceirea, but the th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thr, th, thr, thr, thr, thr, thr, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, thr, thr, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, their, their, their, their, their, their, the, the, the, the, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, and thr, and thr, and the thr, and their, and their, their, their, their, f. their, f. their, f. their, f-s, their, and, their, and, their, theirete in her head, but still it was it was just beautiful the way it was lit in the way it was shot of Barbara Cramton machete in her head and your neck scrawled on the wall and I love that I love that there's an apostrophe in your like they took the time to punctuate that. I thought I was like oh I'm probably just right and you are before they find me. Right. You are next forever. Hashtag the struggle. Hash the Vini watch.
Starting point is 00:22:49 2015, 2K15. I still haven't seen him. Continuous. I don't think he's going to the pool this year. I don't know. So yeah, so there's the bed. I appreciate that. Like when I think about like, you know, when we watch Zambievers and there's no attention to that kind of stuff, there's no, like set up for that, there's no,
Starting point is 00:23:09 there's no art to what they're doing. The fact that this respects the art of filmmaking. I really got to There's that beautiful. And to create your next Easter eggs. I only notice one though on the wall. In the Halloween party, one of them is wearing one of the animal masks. Oh. Which I only noticed on my second viewing of the gas. Yeah, I didn't catch it.
Starting point is 00:23:34 And then in the sort of scarehouse thing. Yeah, it's pain on the wall. There's a Halloween 3 season of the witch nod in there. There's the skull, jack and lantern witch masks from season of the witch are on the wall when he goes into the haunted house. That's awesome. One of my favorite movies. So I was very excited to see that someone else gave it and gave it the nod. You need to revisit.
Starting point is 00:23:55 Orrin gray on today. I twittered him about it. Tweeted him. Twink Tim, what do you do? You fine. You did whatever you had to do. I talk on net. You stagramed him. Yeah. Oh, Instagram. Pab up, Instagram. Oh, God. Is this when a bad guy comes into the house and she kills him?
Starting point is 00:24:18 I think maybe? There is still someone, the bed at this point. Oh, sorry. They don't know that. This is when Kelly looks under the bed and there's someone fucking there. And that's when she runs away, which again, I feel running into the woods is never a great idea at night. Tara's family has this mountain home that we visit sometimes, and it's really in the middle of nowhere. And I get superthere at night close to the house and you're kind of like, ooh. It's probably someone shooting a rabbit.
Starting point is 00:24:49 We don't live it. We're not in the city right now. Yeah, it's where it's okay to hear gunshots. Exactly. Guns shots are much more terrifying when there's nowhere around. Yeah. Of all of how how how how how how how how how how how how how how how how how how how how how how how how the th. th. th. th. th th. th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th tho tho th tho tho tho tho th tho thoes tho tho th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th. th th th th. th th. th th th. th. th. th th th th. th tho tho tho tho tho tho tho thi is thi is thi is thi to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the to to thoooooooooooooooooooooo throwing open the door and just running into the woods. I would honestly rather just fucking dark. Just come in and stab me. I'd rather you stab me than I run into the woods. No, I've actually often thought every time I've watched a home invasion style movie that I pretty much would just lay down and be like, just do it.
Starting point is 00:25:14 That's exactly how I feel. That's right. Wait, so you guys don't have weapons stashed all over your house? Do you? I do have a mag light next to my bed. But I'm pretty sure I would not be able to use it. I'd probably use it on my to' self. Yeah, I have a field hockey stick. They're hidden in plain sight. No. I can't tell you where they are. I'll tell you later.
Starting point is 00:25:45 You walk by them every time you're in my house. That's fucked out, mad. Oh my god, I'm terrified now. It's really scary. I also, but like, someone breaks in, I'm in I'm getting a fucking weapon. See, you're Erin, in the situation, die which is totally what I would do. Totally what I would do. I feel like I'm Drake where I would just basically yell at everyone and continue fighting. No. That is absolutely not the best. I resigned myself to my death. There was a
Starting point is 00:26:10 point in my life and I know exactly when it happened. I was watching the Japanese ring-gu and when Sadako comes through the television set and the guy starts crawling had the thought, oh no you start kicking her in the fucking head as soon as she starts crawling out of there and that's what you have to do and then I was like oh that's what I'm gonna do in any of these situations I'm running at the from your sister's neck. Yeah. And you just kind of like... You're like someone else, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:26:48 Yeah. Somebody else? It must have been the chicken mask that you guys haven't seen yet. He's floating around. Oh, we should talk quickly about the animal masks. Yeah. It's a long time on first watch to realize that there was more than one. I think because the two of them look very similar. Yeah. So for a minute there, I really thought it was just one guy, terrorizing.
Starting point is 00:27:08 And because the first shot where you see it, which this is way earlier in the film, but I love it, when the mom is pouring herself, and the tia the face, it is the mask from the first scene. I actually think it's not, but they're very similar. Tiger and Fox are very similar. Yeah, yeah. And the third one is what, lamb? So that one is a way more clearly. I thought, oh, okay, there's obviously more than one.
Starting point is 00:27:32 Collar. Collar eats neck, their collar. their collar, their, the the the the the the their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, and, and, and, and, and, and, is, is, is, is, their, and, and, and, and, and, and, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is. the. the la. the la. the la. the la. the la. the la. the, is. the, is. the, is. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. and is dead. He's just sitting, they've like arranged him sitting on the couch, which is so weird. With an artfully placed towel, which I thought, he probably appreciated in death. And it was, it was discreet. Yeah, where that's, and that's when, and that's when, and that's the ti. And thin, and the the's, and th, the, the, the, the, the, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, the, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the... the. the. the. The lamb, I think. Oh, it's a lamb, you know, right? This to me was the most brutal death scene. Right. Yeah, I think this is when I was like, ooh, this is,
Starting point is 00:28:10 this is that extreme shit that's going on right now. Like, he comes in, she head, brings the shout up, and then crushes an axe into her face. And it's like, you're a dick. And then he must carry her back to the house because she appears back there. Because he then positions her. He throats kind of like peeking through the window. But after he kills her, he kills her, her. He sits down on the couch and then cocks his head to the side and looks at her. He does that like Michael Myers like quizzical thing which I was like, oh that's a sweet nod.
Starting point is 00:28:48 That's really nice. Like if you're going to do a mask horror movie, reference the granddaddy of all of them. You know what? And that it has that same sort of Michael Myers effect of the unmoving face too. Yeah. that you also also also also also th th. th. th. th. tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho thus thus thus thus thus thus thus thus thus thus thus thus thus thus that's like that's like that's like that's like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that's, that's, that's, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like film with Live Tyler, the Strangers, where they have like those doll faces, which I thought was very scary. Have you guys ever seen them? It's a French home invasion film. It's part of that new French extremism. Why are the French people so obsessed with breaking into one another's homes? Because it's the most fucked up thing you can do.
Starting point is 00:29:14 And they're French. Yeah, okay. The people. The people. The people. The people. The people. The people. The people. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. It's the. It's so gross. The Strangers is not even particularly a scary movie. It's scary because it's home invasion. It's like funny games, right? Like, have you seen funny games? Oh, okay, yeah, yeah. But I saw it, I used to live a couple blocks from the movie theater in Southside and I saw it there. And then I like walked home uncanny Valley thing of like
Starting point is 00:29:47 Yeah, they're just almost human. There's no expression. There's no remorse. You've removed the humanity from it Making it that much creep here and then and with no speaking to you know, there's it seems like there's no method to what they're doing There's no reasoning behind it. Right. T, it seems like. It's. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It seems. It. It. Yeah. There's no answer is you're just going to get sludged in the head. It does bring up that thing that I'm always bummed about in horror films. There's just not somebody screaming, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, th, th, that, th, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I feel, I, I, I feel, I feel, I feel, I feel, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I th, I th, I th, I feel, I feel, I feel, I feel, I feel, I feel, I feel, I feel, I feel, I feel, th th. feel, th. feel, th. thi, I feel, I feel, I feel for a while she just keeps screaming, whoa why we're gonna fucking die which yeah you are. Yeah you are. So one of them comes in it's the tiger I think. It's either fox or I think it's the tiger because it is the tiger because
Starting point is 00:30:37 it is the tiger because Fox and Lam say on later yeah he like comes in through a window basically while she's in a living the living with with with with with with with with with f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f from from from from from from from the the the the the the th th the the th th th th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. And she just beats him to death. With a meat cleaver, which is like, and way more times than I feel like she needed to hit him. Oh sure. But you're still sort of like, yeah, do it. Yeah. Well, like, it's that cleaver. You never drop the meat cleaver. They always drop the meat cleaver and then run away. But she's just like, beating him to death is kind of a novel idea in a horror movie.
Starting point is 00:31:08 Along with my run at them approach, it's beat them until they're not going to get back up. Like you make sure, like, you make sure. their faces. So she killed him. Around about this time is when. Dad gets killed. Right. Upstairs, upstairs set him up. Yeah, Felix sets him up.
Starting point is 00:31:29 That moment when you, when Felix just kind of doesn't really react, he like swipes that his face. That was when I was like, oh shit. The dad chews up all of the scenery in his death too. He digs forever of just like rolling and writhing and Felix just stands there and you're like hmm. His pre-death has another really great scene where dad's looking down the hallway and of course not looking behind him because you never look behind you always look forward. And as like he's looking down the hallway, Fox mask is coming down the hallway at
Starting point is 00:31:54 him. Yeah. And dad's unawares and then he opens the door to look on the closet Closes the closet door and Felix standing there and I was like oh but Felix isn't wearing the same clothes How did he take the mask? Oh, he didn't take the mask off? What's going on here? Like I was very? Then I was like did he see the dude and then he leads dad back down the hallway to? To his death. Fucks. Yes, another another throatroatroatroatroatroatroatroatroatroatroatroatroatroatroat throat throat throat throat throat throat throat throat throat throat throat throat throat throat throat throat throat throat throat throat throat throat throat throat throat throat throat throat throat throat throat throat throat throat throat throat throat throat throat throat throat throat throat throat throat throat throat throat throat throat throat throat throat throat throat throat throat throat throat the their throat their throat their th. their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their he. he. he. he. Yeah. There's just gallons of transmission fluid pouring down this man's chest. And I love the betrayal too of, you know, of the father there just kind of, you know, he doesn't really obviously know what's going on and I don't even think it's really processed that Felix is giving him up, but it's, you know, I remember thinking, why isn't he helping him the throthere's any help when you're having your throat slip. But you at least want to put your hand on it. Yeah, or say, Dad, no.
Starting point is 00:32:47 Oh, Papa, let you go. Obviously, you know what happened if either of our fathers was murdered. So then the lamb comes in and sees his, I guess his brother, his brother was the guy in the tig. tiiiii, the the the tha, he to to thea, toe, toe, toe, toe, toe, toe, toe, toe, toe, their, their, thee, toe, they, too, too, too, too, too, th. He, too, too, too, too, too, too, too, t. He, t. He, t. He, t. He, t. He, t. He, t. He, t. He, t. He, t. He, t. He, t. He, t. He, t. He, t. He, t. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He's, th. He's, t. He's, tt. He's, t. He's, t. He's, tttt. toda. ttoday, today, toe. toe. toe. today, today, today, today, t dining room table with all the food and plates on it, which I fucking love. Like it must be so satisfying to flip a table and like a fit of rage. Has he stepped on the nail at this point? No, that's later. Oh, okay. That's later.
Starting point is 00:33:12 The chronology is all messed. Right now I think he is just, you Why would they think the killing 10 people would be easy? It's a lot. It's a lot of deaths. I guess eight people or seven people, whatever. No, six. You know what? A lot of people. A lot of people. A lot of people. The next note just says Drake is 100% the best character in this movie. I think that's when he appears from behind the curtain. All of my notes basically are just a love letter to Drake. I actually wrote in about 15 minutes before that scene, how excited in my notes that I was that that scene is coming up. Because I love it when he emerges from it and just says, hey. You know, Drake kind of redeems himself when he's like, because Crispin has now left.
Starting point is 00:33:58 He's gone out to like get help, basically. And Drake wakes up and says like I got to help Crispin like he starts to redeem himself he's really not that bad of a guy he's gonna try to help his brother when he finds out that his wife is dead he's like devastated you know that Felix did that on purpose yeah yeah because Aaron had lied to him she's like I don't know where she is yeah well he he ran out the door after his wife ran out and he hit the garret wire with his arrow for a very three stooges scene of him breaking the arrow off in his back and then going, uh, and passing out.
Starting point is 00:34:34 Yeah. So that's what he's waking back up from when Felix. And also he seems to be on a lot of narcotics. Yeah, he took there was, I think, before he got stabbed. Yeah. Yeah, they their he he he he he he was, th. He was, he was, he was, he was, he was. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. thre. th. th. th. th. the th. th. th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He's. He. He's. He's. He's, th. He's th. He's thre. He was. He was. He was. He was. He was. He was. He was. He was. He was. He was threa. He's threa. He's th. He's th. He's th. He the arrow. Yeah, they were hitting the vikid in pretty hard. Sometimes families are hard, you know. Oh, no doubt. So Felix and Drake go into the basement with Aaron and Z. To try and find tools to protect themselves. Aaron and Z leave to go hammer the nails into the boards to put her out the window so that if people come in they step on the nails. There's some really great subterfuge goes on with that as well. But leaving Drake and Felix in the basement, and this is the only time, or the first
Starting point is 00:35:07 time that Felix gets his hands dirty with the actual murder in a fantastically ridiculous scene. I love it. I love it. thereak's not going to die. And I love when he says, his line, this is already so hard for me, man. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to be, to be, to say, to be, to, to, to to to to to thi. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, the the the the thi, thi, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the watched this movie last night with my partner and when it gets to that scene and like she just goes duh of course it's about you Felix and I thought it was really funny that she was just taking the piss out of him. Yeah, Felix was really a self-centered baby in this. Although so was his girlfriend who was like, fuck me next to your dead mother. I said that on repeat after I saw this movie for the first time I could not stop saying it what a line what a line and it's
Starting point is 00:35:48 like you never want to do anything interesting which is pretty funny. And it's like I guess I'll just take this expensive ring that your mom has on fine. Which is just the biggest it's just the biggest ring. Which also you know maybe maybe I'm met watching here but wouldn't you get caught by the police wearing his dead mom's ring? But anyway, right, you're gonna have to claim that that was given to you. She clearly didn't like you, it's, yeah. Anyway, fuck me next to your dead mom then. There's no way their money wasn't in a trust. Like, there's not like old money.
Starting point is 00:36:25 And she did not work. Also, I bet they're going to find out that that house is like money pit. And basically they're actually in their line. And mortgaged to the guts. In 1994, Z was a host on the Disney Club. Wendy Glenn? Yeah. Yeah. She was pretty good in thii.
Starting point is 00:36:44 . an adorable name. She's English too. Really? Yeah. She was pretty good in this movie I thought. I thought honestly I thought everybody was great. Everybody was great. They're all playing their characters was great. I love the dad was so sort of 90s sitcom dad, which I love. The mom was so was so was. And Drake with his ridiculous mocturnal neck was. And I feel like he kind of the hotter baby face Tom Hanks which I was really feeling. Have you. And. And. And. I really like that movie. I know of it but I haven't seen it yet. I like the innkeepers I thought it was great. AJ Bowen is maybe, maybe we'll do house the devil for the podcast. If I can stay awake. Oh, th. Oh, th. th. th. th. th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I scene. I do like his movies. Yeah, me too.
Starting point is 00:37:45 I liked him in this a lot, too. I thought he was hilarious for the like few lines that he had. Yeah. At some point, Aaron has heard Felix and Z talking with Fox Mask about how they set all this up. She's hidden behind a curtain because she's dove out of her leg? How long have that fucking glass come out of her leg for? So gross. So gross. That was so, yeah. Loved it. Loved every second of it coming out of her leg.
Starting point is 00:38:07 I really like that in this film, it's kind of like, you know, in a lot of your sort, the, in the thea, you know, in a lot of your sort of 80s slasher films where you feel like like like, you feel like, you...... the villain, you feel like, you th, you feel like, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, she gets stabbed in the neck at some point and she's just she's still going. Yeah. She's still going and she's still fucking murdering beeps. Yeah. And I love it. I think it's go on, go on with your bad self. Yeah. I mean and it's sort of a theme that he took over into the guest as well. Right, yeah. You know, the dude and the guests, you know, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you're, you're, you're, you're, th. And, the, the, the, the, the, the the the, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, the, th. Yeah, she's still th. Yeah, she's still th. Yeah, she's just, she's just just, she's just just, she's just, she's just, she's just, she's just, she's just, she's just, she's just, she's just, she's th. And, she's th. And, she's th. And, she's th. And, she's th. And, she's th. And, she's th. And, she's th. And, she's th. And, she's th. And, she's still th. And, she's still still th. And, the the the th. And, the the the the the the the the th. And, the the the th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, she's still still th. And, the precursor to that. Like, I would watch a movie with a buddy film with the two of them, just fucking chill. I bet there's so many great abs between the two of me. They would also have beautiful babies. They were gonna have some sort of super soldier, murderer, baby.
Starting point is 00:38:51 It would be beautiful while the beautiful doing that that that. thoooe, theylady that, that, that, that, that, that, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, tho, the, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, the, the, the, they, they, tho, they, they, tho, thoooo, thooooooo, toda, tho, thoo, they, they, they, they, they, they, them and the music while she's setting that up. I love it. Yeah, all the music in this. Oh, that sort of John Carpenter throwback sound. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I love it. Yeah, I love it because it's really, at first it was really very tension building, but then now it's just kind of that like getting shit done do do do do do do do do do do do do do do. Do you. I love that. I just. I. I. I. I just. I just. I just. I just. I just. I just. I just. I just. I just. I just. I just. I just. I just. I just. I just. I just. I just. I just. I just. I just. I just. I just. I just. I just. I just. I just. I just. I just. I just. I just. I just. I just. I just. I just. I just. I just. I just. I just. I just. I just. I just. I just. I just. I just. I just. I just. I just. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I just. I just. I just. I just. I just. I just. I just. I just. I just. I just. I just. I just. I just. I just. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. I just. I just. I just. I just. I just. I was like, yeah, murder these guys. Wait. Yeah. I guess, yeah, go ahead. So she does. She goes through and murders everyone. Like, I tallied it up. I think she actually murders more people than. She kills five people, right? The mask people, because I think they might only kill four. You're probably. Wait, let's do a quick rundown. Well, they kill Amy. the people in the cold open. Well, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they they they they they th. th. they're, th. th. th. they they th. they they they're, they're, they're, they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. th. th. ted. tall, I tall, tall. tall, tall, tall. tall. tall. tall. tall. tall. tall. the.'s true. I wasn't counting Larry and the baby. And Booby student and mom and so they definitely had more deaths. But she kills five. She kills five. And she, well, we should get to Z and Felix's death because they're fucking amazing.
Starting point is 00:40:00 I clapped when she put the blender on and then plugged it in. I was on board. She's fighting, she's finally cornered Z and Felix in the kitchen and like they're kind of having a talky talk as you do in horror movies to explain what's going on. So she starts just beating the shit out of Felix and kind of like fending off Z in the te at the time and hits Felix in the head with a blender, and then kind of looks at the blender, looks at the cord, plugs it in the wall, and turns it on, which was like, that was awesome. And it goes on forever.
Starting point is 00:40:31 That is also definitely a vitamin X, because I don't know how it has no power to keep going for like five minutes. Oh, it was a magic bullet, for sure. Also rich, white people have a, was a guy-richy movie there would have just been like a bunch of like chalk lines from her vision showing her exactly what you needed to do to turn that thing on like it was pretty crazy like yeah but it was beautiful it was great and the close-up shots where you just saw her thought process I love yeah I feel like it's a gross but it's also a good comedy scene too it's
Starting point is 00:40:57 like yeah lightning the load that you're carrying from this terrible home invasion. Yeah, it had like a dead alive feel to it. Sure. Right. Totally. And then she stabbed Z in the top of the fucking hit. Yeah. Just like with the whatever was not knife or whatever that she pulled out of her own fucking neck, which is I hope if I ever get stabbed I pull that shit out and stab someone. She's an onlooker. She's a role model. She's I am actually more like airing. Yeah. W. W. W. W. W. W. W. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I. I. I'm. S. I'm. I'm. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. We all should be more like Aaron. Yeah. WWED. I think I'm just more of a Kelly. Scream, run, die. I want to be.
Starting point is 00:41:31 I want to be an Aaron. I'll get you some weapons to hide around the house. So we've cast or fallen, impaled myself. I'm just a. You're the Kelly. Who are you, Alan? I want to be the errand. I think you have a machete in your house. I pretty much feel like you are the errand. It's the chubby old man Aaron showed up.
Starting point is 00:41:53 You see to grow out some really long bangs and you'll be in good shape. Her bangs were not good. They were a certain look. It was to give her a certain, like, it made her sort of approachable looking. Oh, right. Yeah, it's like she wasn't like,
Starting point is 00:42:11 she wasn't like super sexed up or anything. They were uglying her up. It also give a good opportunity for a lot of blood to be in the basement, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, to, to, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, the, the, the the the the the the the the the to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, th.. th. th. the, th. the, the, the, like killing the dude with the log. There's so much blood in her bangs. Again, a relentless murder scene, like she just lays into that fucker. In a basement that has all this tattered plastic sheeting hanging. Why do people even have tattered plastic sheeting hanging? It keeps the dust down when you're doing home improvements. And it's so that a creep can be standing on the other side.
Starting point is 00:42:37 Oh, I see. And also for also also also also for a the the the's probably, that's my favorite scene, I think, in the film. Oh, really? It's so rear window. I love it. Oh, nice. I just love it. So she has set up in her home aloning of the house. She has set a high impact, like axe, this like it extra heavy, and she's tied it up, and she's attached to the doorknob. And she's sure that one of the killers is going to come in,
Starting point is 00:43:06 but they never do. Of course, they always come into the window. They cover the broken window, yeah. She's sitting next to Felix with the blender on his head. And his cellar the phone to the phone going, even when the person's not responding to you, you're just like, Felix, why are you so mad at me? Well, I'm just gonna keep talking. I'm just gonna tell you the entire plan. It's not what happens.
Starting point is 00:43:29 So I told you there was no way that I could kill anybody. I had to leave in through the broken window also. Yeah, he meets up with her and she hangs up the phone as soon as she sees him. And it's just like, oh, the jig is up and then he is the shittiest and tries to just bring her in on the plan. Oh, baby? Pay off your student loans? Yeah, like, that. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. he. the. th. th. He's th. He's he's he's hea. He's hea. He's he. He's he. He's the the the the the th. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He's. He's. He's. He's he. He's th. He meets. He meets. He meets th. He meets th. He meets th. He meets th. He meets the. He meets th. He meets the. He meets th. He meets the. He meets the. He meets th, just pay those off for the work. How does $500,000 sound? Not good enough, buddy. Not that great, yeah.
Starting point is 00:44:07 But you're about to get fucking stabbed into trot. Her, this is sort of a sad scene too, because she doesn't say anything and she's just like silently crying. You know what I mean? Like she's just, thii. I'm not, yeah. How dare you judge Aaron? I just say, I said it was sad. With all the levity in the film, I think that actually adds to, because I think AJ Bowen is still being sort of, his delivery is a little comedic, it's a little like, nah, I got caught, I'm a bad kid. Yeah, you know, I can talk my way. Also, they definitely would have killed her. He tells her that the plan was to keep her alive.
Starting point is 00:44:45 Oh, for 100% definitely would be dead. When she was in the kitchen and the mask, she would have been one of the first casualties because he broke in and tried to stab her right then. It was like, no one else had even died but ain't. And when you saw the dudes, they were, they were, they were, the, the, the, the, the, the, th, the, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thin, thin, thi, the, the, the, the, the, the, thi, thin, the, the, the, the, th. th. th. th. tho, wa, wa, wa, wa, wa, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, th. When, w. When, w. When, w. When, w. When, w. When, w. When, w. When, w. When, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was. When. When. When, definitely. When, was, was, they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. the, they. When, she was, definitely. like, yeah. They looked like, definitely hillbilly type crazy dudes. Yeah, I, especially the one that kind of had the beards that was listening to the music. I was almost more afraid of him when he took the Fox Max off, because he just looked.
Starting point is 00:45:13 Well, that seems great when he pulls the head phone, and I was like, did you say something? Yeah. The fact that he had just been just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just that he that he had just just that he had just the fact that he had just the fact the fact the fact the fact the fact the fact the fact the fact, the fact, the fact, What do you think you listen to while you murder? What would you listen to? Oh, you know, system of a down or puddle of mud-ded-ded-ded. That's what you would pick? No, I wouldn't. I'd probably listen to the cure like I normally do.
Starting point is 00:45:36 Like I normally do when I'm doing anything. I feel like for me it would have to be something from death row records. Yeah I'd have to be I feel like it couldn't be rock. Yeah it's got to it's got to be grave diggers I've got to listen to six feet deep by grave diggots if I'm gonna start murdering people. I can't even imagine what I I'd listen to something really absurd like girls just want to to the. Like I like that. to like tha to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the the the to to the the the the to the to the to the to the to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the tho. tho. the thro. the their the their the the tho. the tho. tho. tho. to tho. to to to to ogether a playlist of songs to survive the zombie apocalypse too. Oh, I like that. And it was just all death metal, of course. Like, this is like, it's the same thing that like, the troops are listening to in Iraq.
Starting point is 00:46:13 Like, that sort of like, just like discord and pump up music. So, you know, or you just put on slayer and you're just put, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, the, th, like, the, like, th, like, the, th, the, th, th, th, the, the, th, th, th, the, it, it, it, th, th, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, the, it, it, the, it, the, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, the, it, it, th, it, it, it, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th....... It, th. It, th. It's just, th. It was just, th. It was just, th. It was just, th. It was just, th. It was just, th. It was justoo-d-do-doo-d. Because I feel like I could probably murder pretty well to that. I mean, she was like doing it with a log, she was doing it the meat cleaver, it was just the repetitive banging. I'm into it. This dude kills it on sound, it on soundtrax. the soundtrack for the tree. Mikea Moore is a Goth, or Monroe, Miro, Miro. Does it so well, so awesome. Yeah, I want that mix that she made for him. I know, me too.
Starting point is 00:46:48 I hope he took it. I hope he took it with him. So, yeah, he walks. Oh, sorry, we just spoiled the guest. He walks out. Whoops. Whoops. We're, and shoots her and shoots her and I
Starting point is 00:47:07 And I jumped the fuck out of my seat when I saw that I was I was so involved because I was remembering the axe set up and I was so tens thinking Crispan was gonna get hit because at that point I was still thinking he was innocent yeah Yeah earlier when I was just like oh he's gonna come back and he's gonna get hit by that axe and she's gonna to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th the the th th th the th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th the th th. the the the th. th. the th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the the the the the the the tea. the the the the the the the the the the theeea. the. th's going to come back and he's going to get hit by that axe and she's going to feel so bad. And then it turns out she gets fucking shot and I was just devastated. Yeah. Yeah, it's such a bummer when she gets shot. When she's shot, I think you should probably survive. Well, she gets shot in the front door and it's like a he's opening it so slowly and she's like no don't and then you're next the best ending I love it yeah at least he called for backup first although it's gonna be very difficult for her to explain
Starting point is 00:47:51 what I was very stressed out on my drive home and I was thinking I'm this I'm this kind of person where I was thinking you know what I'm just gonna believe that she was able to to totally explain it and to to to to to to to to to to to to to to they to they to to they to to they to they to their to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to their their they. their. their. to be to be to be to be to be to be to to to be to be to be to be their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the their. tell. tell. tell. tell. their. their. their. their their their the best. their the best. their the cop was killed because I want her to be okay. Yeah. I mean, don't you deserve to survive after that? Come on. You think she went to jail? No. No, she's fine. She probably has a book deal at this point.
Starting point is 00:48:14 She wasn't there by the time the cop showed up. Oh, that's true. to she. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She's. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. She's. She's. th. th. th. th. th. th. She's. She's. She's. She's. She's. She's. She's. She's. She's. She's. She's. She's. She's. She's. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She's. She's th. She's th. She's th. She's th. She went. She went. She went th. She went th. She went th. She went th. She went th. She went th. She went th. She went th. She went th. She went. She went. She went. She right. She's on the move. She cut those bangs off, no one can find her. Yeah. I would watch the sequel to this movie where she's just on the move and fucking like John Rambo in a cross country. Because you know she is. She's gonna have to murder again. Rambos that just had movie. Oh yeah, so sad. That's so sad. I really love how excited your ratings voice is getting. Shaking all up.
Starting point is 00:48:45 Yeah, let's do it. Tara, do you want to go first? Sure. This is a straight up nine for me. I love it. Not perfect, which is why. And I think maybe the mock turtle neck is what's keeping me giving it a 10. Oh, I think the mock turtle neck is so perfect though.
Starting point is 00:48:57 Not only is it not perfect perfect perfect perfect perfect perfect perfect perfect perfect LL Bean though. I just am not okay with it. But yeah to me I mean I just loved it. I had such a great experience watching it and I feel like I can count on one hand the movies where I've left at the theater feeling so super-siked and you know so for me it's just, it's even I you know there's haters, there's people who might say that it was derivative or whatever. I just had such a great experience watching. It was super fun and that's what I love. All right. It's a 9 for me. Katie. I am. Yeah, I did read some critiques of it being derivative but I feel like it was well-invasion films are always going to be a little bit derivative. It's something breaking it. And I felt like it kind of the movie where the person who's getting invaded murders a lot of people. I've not seen that. And I thought the dialogue was really, I thought it was clever. I thought it was well written.
Starting point is 00:49:46 I thought it was well cast, I thought it was beautifully shot. This is a nine and a half for me. It's not gonna reach the level of child's play two. I didn't realize we could do halves. Oh yeah. . ............ Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I. Yeah. I. Yeah. I. I. Yeah. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. Yeah. to. I'm. to. I'm. to. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. I'm. I th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. I'm. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I....................................................................................... so you can give it a... I'm feeling good. I want to reserve my 10 maybe for when I actually see Childs play 2. Okay, good.
Starting point is 00:50:08 I'm going to give it a 9. Yeah, this is a great movie. I feel like this movie gets even boosted because of what I associated with, of like, it follows and Babaduke and stuff like that that's come out recently. It's like it's not groundbreaking. It's not reinventing the wheel. It's not, but it's like enough understanding of the genre and it's not taking the fucking piss. It's not making fun of horror. It's not smarter than a horror movie. She's like, I love horror movies.
Starting point is 00:50:35 I want to make horror movie. And I did it and I nailed it. And that's what I really appreciate about it. it so for sure it's a nine and not after this movie and the guest I will watch whatever this right I will line up yeah yeah has he done anything else or does he have anything else in production do you know he's got another movie coming out but I think it's based on a manga right isn't a death note he's he's doing death no yeah okay cool we should see that but yeah I'll watch anything this tho you thoo yeah the I'll watch it I'll thI I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I'll I'll I'll I'll I'll I'll I'll watch I'll I'll watch I'll watch I'll watch I'll watch I'll watch I'll watch I'll watch I'll watch I'll watch I'll watch I'll watch I'll watch I'll watch I'll th I'll th I'll th th th th the th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th the the the the the the the the the the the the I I I I I I I I'll I I I'll I'll I'll I'll I'll I'll I'll I'll I'll I'll I'll I'll I'll I'll I'll I'll I'll I'll I'll I'll I'll I'll I'll the I'll the I'll the the the the the the the th th tho tho tho tho tho tho the the the tho the the the tho the the the the the the the the the the the the the I, the guest is great. Any of you listeners who haven't seen it, definitely. Sorry we ruined it for you at one point in this. Watch it before you listen to this.
Starting point is 00:51:10 Oh yeah, tell them to that 10 minutes after we. Even if that movie is spoiled, it's totally worth it. It doesn't matter. Yeah, it's really not even, of course you love it. It's Halloween meets Terminator. Like, why wouldn't you love that movie? It actually is. That's a great description. They had apparently watched Terminator and then Halloween and then wrote that movie. Yeah, that's awesome. Definitely 100% watch that like.
Starting point is 00:51:37 I've never seen Terminator though, so I don't know. I know it's so fucked up, so fucked up, but I mean worth watching. No reason not to. Yeah. It holds up, also Predator holds up. You must watch that if you ever. You must watch that if you ever. Predator in Riftrax version. Oh, and it was, I don't see that it would be a good movie. Oh, it's fantastic.
Starting point is 00:51:54 It is one of my favorite directors. movies that Katie wouldn't like because he directed Die Hard, he directed you don't like action movies. Oh yeah. I mean it is an action movie so yeah he directed Predator he directed 13th Warrior. So what do we do next week Alan? We are doing the Italian cover version of Jaws? Great White aka Last Shark. It's fucking ridiculous. This is a movie that was banned in America right? Yeah, because they were- It's never showed again. They were sued by Universal Pictures?
Starting point is 00:52:30 Why? For what? It's just Italian Jaws. It's literally a cover version of Jaws. Yeah. It's ridiculous. It would be like if you did stairway to heaven and did not give Led Zeppelin credit. It'd be like if you called it, stairwell to stare, stare, stare, stare, to to the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. It's th. It's th. It's they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they's. It'd be like if you called it stairwell to a nice place. It's literally what it is. Starewell to Nirvana. Yeah. It's only available on YouTube because America doesn't want it right but it's super easy to find and we'll give you the link to. So be subversive and watch this movie.

So you could find his own Facebook, where wolf ambulance and an ambulance, an ambulance the ambulance the ambulance the ambulance the ambulance thamamamamamamamamamamamamam ambulance th. It th. I don't leave a very interesting life, but I was thinking about when I was watching your next I was watching it with subtitles on because I was really trying to do my homework before you know I wanted to I want to just transcribe the line I want to fix you fuck me next your dead mom so I do have a have a nascent tumbler called donut dropping that where I
Starting point is 00:53:36 basically take screenshots of ridiculous closed captions so check out donut dropping I saw a really good one the other day and I forgot to take a picture of it for you. It was something on like, I think I was watching Poiro or something on Netflix, and I need to go back and take a picture of it. It was so absurd. Yeah, and submit me your donut dropping ideas. Probably the best one I got from this.
Starting point is 00:53:54 Well, there was crockeryovy music playing which I loved. What's the one from waxwork that was like soft squelching? Oh I've definitely gotten a few squalching noises yeah also smooches is surprisingly popular I'm now seen actually three times weird that was what started it was when we were watching the hole yeah which is terrible I spent way too long going back and try to find that from the hole. But I did. Wait, not the Joe Dante movie. No, they'll want to throw a bird's doing an English accent.
Starting point is 00:54:29 Straight to video. Oh wow. Thank you, Tara. Thanks for being here and thanks for being here. And thanks. Thank you guys. So thanks so much for listening to another episode of where wolf ambulance. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye.
