No, and if given the choice, I'd rather watch that one, honestly. I went into this movie in such a pissing mood that I had to watch this movie. So here's what happened. I said, maybe let's do Halloween for, and Alan said, no, I don't really want to do, okay, I'll do it. And I was like, oh, I don't feel strongly about it. We don't have to.

Let's pick something else. He was like, no, let's do Halloween 4. And I was like, I mean, I can tell you, no, let's do something else. And he was like, we're doing Halloween four. Why? Kids like this movie? Not why? I don't know. I will say, from the jump, right out the gate, this movie, arguably, the best opening credits of any Halloween movie. The like sort of spooky farm, Halloween, Autumn Opening.

Yeah. And it's nothing to do with anything. It's Halloween. You oh, yeah. It reminded me there's these series of like short half-hour-long films on YouTube by witching season films. That's just basically like a mask up against a farm background with spooky music. And it's like these opening credits without the credits rolling over top.

So it's just very ambient. Okay, I like that. Like a, like a yul log. Yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly. But yeah, I love the opening credits to this movie. I think they are iconic. And then... The rest of the movie happened. The rest of the movie happens. Why? So many choices of why? I mean, it's sort of the Henry the A thing, right? Like, a little bit louder and a little bit worse. They tried to make the, they tried to recapture the magic of the original movie. Sure.

But did it without building any tension. Yeah. And a little bit louder, a little bit worse. I have to tell you. I hate the idea that Laurie's got so many fucking timelines to keep them all straight is a nightmare. Yeah, yeah. And I think that this might sound dumb, this might come out wrong, but like the way that horror has in recent years, and we've discussed this on the show, become mainstream and

gotten some respect and gets money to make big budget movies is all sort of feels to me like it's fighting against this idea that horror is very stupid. It's just stupid slashers, blood and tits and whatever. And watching this movie, it's like oh I see, I'm reminded of why the genre now feels like it has to do that because that this movie's so fucking stupid. Yeah, there's nothing to it. Yeah, for sure. Yeah. And Lori's whole, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi's whole, thi's whole, thi's thi's thi's thi's thi's thi's thi's thi's thi's thi's th. thi, to to to to thi, thi, to to to to to to th. th. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi. It's th. There's nothing to it. Yeah. And Laurie's whole many iterations, all played by the same actor, is insane. It's stupid. And you can see why people don't respect it. It might go somewhere. Is this anything? No, no, you're making total sense. And I, I'm thinking about like a comparison of like the one that you will definitely not like,

but to say like Halloween the OG, the original, 1978, is like Radiohead to the rest of the movies being cold play or muse, where they're just like these kind of pale comparisons that get like kind of more popular in the zeitgeist and are more known for, you know, like, and or what people make fun of when they think they're making fun of radio head, they just make it fun of cold play. Yeah, that's true. Yeah, I think you're right about that and I think with the exception of Halloween 3, which is like thinking you're going to get Radiohead and instead getting the remones. Yeah, this is something. You could keep releasing this movie and I would be totally fine with it. Yeah, and then they, yeah. But I mean, how great would like that Carbner original idea of just like, yeah, every Halloween we put out, nothing to do with the last one. It would have been cool to see what else they came up with. Yeah, fantastic, especially when they got to do it, they came up with someone stealing part of Stonehenge and taking it to California to kill children. How did they get into California

I mean, every time, here's the thing about that movie, is that when I look back on it, I think maybe I'll like it if I watch it again. I won't. It's so up my alley of stupid and crazy, but then when I watch it, I'm like, what is this? And all that matters is Tom Atkins got some. Man, John Carpenter is just so sure that he's so fuckable.

He just wants women to fuck Tom Atkins. Why not? God bless them. Whatever, everybody's got to get fucked, right? And beautiful women too. A beautiful young women. It's like 20-year-old Jamie Lee Curtis. Okay. Tom Atkins looks like he works at your dad's office. And he bought some of her pictures.

Why do they always transfer Michael Myers on Halloween Eve? I don't know.

You think they learn their lesson, they never do. Even 20 years later, they don't learn it. This is 10 years post. Oh G Halloween.G. Halloween. They're transferring Michael Myers. He's in a coma, I guess, from the events of the second film. Right, of being burnt in the second film. In which I assumed Donald Pleasance was dead.

I forgot that he was in this movie. I forgot that he was in like several of the later movies, and I forgot how fun he was. I thin' thu. I's in them until he has shed this mortal coil. Yeah. He, I think he is probably the best part of this movie, just like chomping the scenery in such a like delightful way. I didn't mind Daniel Harris. No, I thought she was a cute child. Yeah, playing Jamie Lloyd. Sweet baby Angel. I don't, I don't understand. So they go to the sanitarity, see these two people go to the sanitarium to pick up Michael Myers

on Halloween Eve, Halloween Steve if you will, and go to pick him up and uh, the guy, the guard that's working the station is just kind of bitchy to them and it's hilarious. He's like, Jesus ain't got nothing to do with this place. Shachach! Chatta! He's like, this is where society dumps its worst nightmares, but you work here like it's 11, you know? Somebody's gotta do it, you know what I'm saying?

It's got good pennies. So we also meet at this point Michael Myers doctor who says Dr. Lumas's position is more ceremonial than medical. Like what ceremony is this man's on a coma but okay. And he's like I'm hoping that when Michael Myers is gone he'll retire or something or die. I think you're hoping for your colleague's death. He does not care for him at all. No, the man has just been tried. I mean, Dr. Lumas, one, very annoying.

I cannot imagine working with the man. You know he never makes coffee. He takes the last bit, puts it back on the hot burner and walks away. Doesn't even take it, like, pours the cup and then dumps it right into the trashful making eye content with you. He eats your lunch with your name on it and thanks you for it. And puts it back in the fridge empty. He's always down to your y'oplay yogurt, you know he is. He loves the fruit on the bottom.

It's that thing is that he knows you love fruit on the bottom. Who doesn't? And of course he has a niece living in his hometown. And the people are like, yes, he has a niece like over his body and you see his head like, huh? What?

How does he wake? A week from a coma, right in this moment. No, I guess you're right. You just think it'd be fun. A bonding experience for everyone. But also this movie predates Scream and the Scream franchise by the entire town knowing who Michael Myers is. Except for Brady. And it being a popular Halloween costume. Yes, it's in the goddamn discount store. Why would they have a mask of him in the store in the town? And why, Brady works on the store.

But also, because we live in a world where people have a fucking hard on for watching Jeffrey Domer TV. Yeah, I'm not watching that shit. But just like, all like serial killer, like, people dress up as, um, Zodiac to go out for Halloween. Like, I am on a subreddit called Shit Mom Groups, say. And it's just people reposting things that insane people say in mom groups. It's so, what is wrong with you? Truly. But, but so it makes sense that you're going to have Michael Myers masks in your dollar store. You're right, you're right. Just like it makes sense that you're going to have scream masks at your their the God. No, that doesn't make sense because they had enough for every movie theater goer in the entire world. And scream masks street signs hung over on the street when Sidney comes back to sell her

book in town? Sydney. I wish we were doing a Scream movie instead. But yeah, I mean, so like on some level like this movie is very meta that stuff. Yeah, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. And th. th. th.
