Starting point is 00:00:00 I forgot about that southern accent. Oh, it's so good. Oh, do you like it? So, right out of the game. Yeah. We're going to talk about Pearl. Oh, this is Whirloff Ambulance. An extraordinary origin story from 2022. Yes, give it the full title. Sorry. By Tymouthy West. Time at the West. Timethy West.
Starting point is 00:00:30 It was his full name. And Miami Goth. God. God I wish I had the skin of a baby like Mia Goth does. What the fuck? How does she do that to her face? Because she's like 24 probably? 30, she's 30 I bet. Oh yeah, yeah. You do have fresh skin. Not like that. It's not Dewey, but it is fresh. Are you saying I don't have dewy skin? What do you mean by that? Shit. Oh no, I walk into it! So every other Mia gotthat that I've been privy to. Yeah. I've been like, she's fine. I felt the exact same. I th. I the th. I the th. I the th. I the th. I the th. I've been privy to, I've been like, she's fine.
Starting point is 00:01:06 I felt the exact same way. And then in this movie, I was like, oh, she might be a real good actress. She's a fucking star. Yeah. Oh, here's where I wrote. I look more like Mia Goth's German mom. Beautiful woman. Yeah, Mia Gauth was spectacular.
Starting point is 00:01:23 She was giving me Shelly Duval vibes. One hundo, it's those big eyes, those big bulgy eyes, especially in that smiling scene at the end. Oh my god. And that's not something, that's not a compliment that I throw around, throw around easily. No, Shelly Duval's special. I think it's also the weird southern accent was probably doing it too. Yeah. When she really shines in this movie is when she's being super overwrought and freaking out,
Starting point is 00:01:48 which is when she drops her accent for the most part. And that is, you know, but then she'll get back into it and you're like, oh, that's right, you're doing this thing. But yeah. They can only hold onto those accents while not screaming. It's true. Did you like the leave It to Beaver font of the opening credits? I did. It was very old Hollywood. I like it.
Starting point is 00:02:10 I like that. I was watching this, spoiler, I really fucking love this movie. Same, same, same. And I was like, has Ty West come into his own? I don't know what that means. Like has he like... Is he... Is he... come to fruition as a director? Like... Is this his... His apex, it's all downhill from here, you think? No, no, no, I just think that like... So all of his films...
Starting point is 00:02:34 Oh, by the way, Nadiah does mean Trough. You were right all along. A number of people told me. Go on. A call back for many episodes ago. Yeah, don't think I don't lay awake at night and think about a thousands of people hearing me correct you and being wrong. Oh, by the way, Brad Pitt was born in Oklahoma, Oklahoma, to which I responded to the person who pointed that out in Instagram, Oklahoma, Canada. Because who gets a shit? Oh, God. We should really do an entire episode. That's just all of our corrections and emissions from every episode we've ever done. Where Rodda ambulance?
Starting point is 00:03:13 I would love that. It would be 37 hours long. Yeah. Oh, I have so many things to apologize for. But not apologies come into this? Well, if you're doing in errors, I feel like you're saying, you know, it's like saying, I've done fucked up. that. It's, you know, it's th, it's th, it's th, it's th, it's th, it's just th, it's just th, it's just th. It's just th. It's just th. It's just th. It's just th. It's just th. It's just th. It's just th. It's just th. th. th th th th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. th. th. ths to apologize for. But not the... Wait, how did apologies come into this without we were just doing it? If you're doing errors, I feel like you're saying, you know, it's like saying, I done fucked up. I might done fuck up because this is a 9% alcohol beer, so let's see where this goes. Ooh, is that from local brewery two phrase? From the neighborhood between yours and mine? It is when I picked up local pizzeria spack on my way home. I stopped a two phrase. At a neighborhood also between yours and mine.
Starting point is 00:03:49 People could figure out where we live. I mean, you have said how close you live to Thomas Savini. Yeah, it's true. If they can find Tom Savinii, they can find me. And if they can find Tom Savin'ini, why they're they're they're they're they're, they they they they they they they th. And if. And if they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they th. And if they they they they th. And if they can't. And if th and they can't. And if they can find they can find they can find they can find they can find they can find they can find they can find and they can't. And if they they they they they they they th. And if th. And if th and th and th and th and th and th and th and th and th and th. And th and th and th and th and th and th and th and th and th and th and th and th and th and th and thi. And thi. And thi. And thi thi thi thi thi can find thi thi can find thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi to to hang out with. Yeah, probably. Probably. Sorry, Tom Sveen. He's an old man. I should really shovel his sidewalk for him. The horror community should be shoveling that man's sidewaves. Get your asses out there when it snows and shovel Tom Savinie's sidewalks. Do you want him to have a heart attack out there?
Starting point is 00:04:17 It happens to older folks. Knock on his door, say, where where where, say, say, say, say, say, where, where, where, where, where, where, where, where, where, where, where, where, where, where, where, where, where, where, where, where, where, where, where, where, where, where, where, where, where, where, where, where, where, the w. sent me with a shovel and then he'll think you're murdering him but go on about Ty West so so the movie that I was introduced to Ty West via was the innkeepers no the house the devil house the devil yeah house the devil throwback movie giving strong 80s vibes done very well. Inkeepers like sort of a like a pastiche film like has like 70s vibes to it. There's a lot of talking. Yeah yeah yeah for sure. Why did I think I hated Ty West? I don't know you apparently loved all of his movies. Yeah I know some people who knew him growing up from
Starting point is 00:05:00 that area who said he was too cool for school but like he's actually really good at something so maybe he actually was too cool for school but like he's actually really good at something so maybe he actually was too cool for school. And then like so X was like doing 70s grind house cinema yeah and did it very well. Yeah. And this movie is like I don't know we're doing a 40s Technicolor classic. A 40s technicolor classic of a like descent into madness? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, that. Yeah, that. Yeah, that. Yeah, that. Yeah, that. Yeah, that. Yeah, that. Yeah, that. Yeah, that. Yeah, that. Yeah, the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the, the the the the the th, th, th, th, th, th, th, the th, the the the the too. too too too too too too too too too too the the the the the the the the the the, we're doing a 40s technicolor classic. A 40s technicolor classic of a like, descent into madness? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Wow. Like Hitchcock vibes, maybe? Strong Hitchcock vibes. I think it's all the bicycles. It's all the bicycles in those real wide shots of cornfields and stuff.
Starting point is 00:05:39 Yes. That's a lot of corn was the only sexy part of this movie. I thought this was going to be a sessy movie. I mean, you know, it makes me uncomfortable seceness. But fuck, dry humping a scarecrow that, I'm fine with that. This isn't why we've been trying to find that scarecrow movie for you. I did right, maybe this is the scarecrow movie I saw. So we meet Pearl who is wearing a dress and having a musical moment kind of in her bedroom, we think. And then her mom comes in and chastises her for wearing her mom's clothes. In German, which is the meanest way to chastise. That's true. How do you tell me me me me me me me me me me me me me me that your me that your me that your me that your me that your that your that your that your that your that your that your that your that your that your that your parents that your parents that your parents that your parents that your parents that your parents that your parents that your that that that that's th. that that that that's that that that th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. th. this. this. this. this. this. this. this. this. this. this. this. this. this. this. this. this. this. this. this. this. this mom's clothes. In German. In German. Which is the meanest way to chastise. How do you tell me that your parents are strict?
Starting point is 00:06:28 Oh, they're German. Oh, yeah, yeah. She's doing this southern accent that her mother does not have. Well, she's German. Well, she's from New Zealand, so put that one in your pocket. I gotta say, I'm glad I never thought I was special. I'm glad I never thought I would amount to anything. Because it's like that thing where you've like conditioned yourself to expect nothing and then the least little something is worth getting excited about. This is a movie about expectations of what you think your life's gonna turn out to.
Starting point is 00:06:58 I have some really good advice. Oh, okay. Expect nothing. It goes into my optimistic pessimism, okay. Or pessimistic optimism. I can't remember which one I ascribed to you. Okay. But it's like, don't ever expect anything to go the way you want it to. And then when it does, you're like, all right. Yeah. But my thing is don't ever want anything. Okay. And then you'll never be disappointed. Sure. Yeah, I have an expectationless life. Yeah. It's a it's a th. It's a th. It's a th. It's a th. It's a th. It's a th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. to. to. to. to. to. thee optimistic. thi. thi. the thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. never be disappointed. Sure, yeah, I have an expectationless life. Yeah It's it's a bit empty and then when you well no, but then when you reach the high high
Starting point is 00:07:30 high heady heights of very niche fame that we have then you think oh, I don't deserve this I'm taking this from someone else who deserves it. Anyway, I've also wanted to stab a goose, so... She just murders that fucking goose. Have you ever gotten too close to a goose? No, you're not supposed to. They're like niping at you and stuff. Yeah, that's when you got to stab them. I'm not mad at her for stab this goose.
Starting point is 00:07:59 It's like 80% of America's Funniest Home Videos is a goose biting somebody in the dick. Yeah, that is really funny. Remember how they have teeth on their tongues? So wild. Yeah. Yeah. And then she feeds it to, bum, bum, bum, the alligator. I forgot about the alligator.
Starting point is 00:08:19 It's been a while since we did X. Yes. And I forgot about some of the details. And then watching this movie, I was like, oh, that's all coming back to me. Yeah. And this is such a good prequel. I feel like a prequel, is hard to get right. And this is so good. Arguably a prequel that's better than the movie? I agree. And I also think that it's like, it can stand a lot. If you didn't see X, you'd, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. this this this this this this this this this this th. this th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. th. th. th. this is this is this is th. th, it can stand a lot. If you didn't see X, you could see this and be like, wow, that's a great movie. Yeah. You don't need, but knowing, having X in your head, you're like, oh, fuck, I do know how she turns out. So you've that sense of just like dread the whole movie.
Starting point is 00:08:53 Would you say X gonna give it to you? Yeah, I 100% agree with you. Like I think, like, for some reason my expectations were real low going into this. Really, my expectations were very high because people I trust had really liked it. I thought, well, it must be good. I had heard nothing but good people, or, I'd heard nothing but good things about it. A few people being like, no, I didn't really like it, but I feel like there's the people who always like, yeah, I didn't really like it. I just raised my hand. Yeah, I should also raise my own hand. What does everybody else like it?
Starting point is 00:09:30 No, no, I'm good. No, I'm good. No, fuck your Christmas. So yeah, she pits, forks it and takes it to Theta, the water and freeze-framing. So it's 1918. What a time to be alive, huh? A lot of time to be in the flu. Oh man. Filming this movie during a pandemic about a pandemic. Yeah. I also love that they made this movie kind of in secret. I didn't know that it was kind of in secret. They made it I think at the same time or right after X. Oh. And like we're just kind of like on the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the to be. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. the. the. the. the. the. the. the.l. the.l. the. the. the. the. the. the. time. to. to. to. to. time. to. to. to.think, at the same time or right after X. Oh. And like, we're just kind of like on the DL made this movie. But this had been green lit before? I'm guessing.
Starting point is 00:10:11 Yeah. Wow, how about that? Yeah. Huh. That's at least what I heard at the same time. So that one is done filming now, I believe. Okay, and that's a direct sequel to this. I believe, I believe that's gonna, oh no, I thought I heard that that one's gonna take
Starting point is 00:10:37 place in the 80s. Oh, so it would be a sequel to X. Yes, I think it might pick up on her character. The new Mia goth. Meagoth, part two. We drove away from the farm, spoiler alert at the end of X. Oh yeah. Why, why would you listen to this episode if you hadn't seen X? Come on. Why, plenty of people are listening to this episode and have never seen this movie. That's true. That that that that she has a relationship with an alligator though.
Starting point is 00:11:05 Yeah, I mean, and how long do alligators live forever because they're dinosaurs? I think so. I think that we got like a set at the beginning of time and they've just always been here. Okay. Yeah, like candy corn corned corn. Forever shall play. Garbonzo beans. Garbonzo beans. Oh, Carbonzo. Oh man, I made chickpea chili last night. You call him chickpeas. Yeah, what do you call them? Garbanzo beans.
Starting point is 00:11:26 Oh, yeah. Well, I'm not Italian. Is that why I call him that? Probably. Interesting. Yeah. Put some mootsurel in those Carbonzo. Ah, look at kid Garbanzo.
Starting point is 00:11:48 Oh, real quick, I'd like to shout out front of the podcast, Joe from the Flyover State of Fear, podcast slash YouTube channel. Because he was in Pittsburgh for a Pirates game where they gave away, he's a Mets fan, he went to see the Pirates and Metz, they gave away a Key Brian Hayes bobblehead. So he and his wife sent there's to Lucy Lucy Lucy Lucy Lucy Lucy Lucy Lucy Lucy Lucy Lucy Lucy Lucy Lucy Lucy Lucy Lucy Lucy Lucy Lucy Lucy Lucy Lucy Lucy Lucy Lucy Lucy Lucy Lucy Lucy Lucy Lucy Lucy Lucy Lucy their Lucy their Lucy so he and his wife sent theirs to Lucy and me in the mail.
Starting point is 00:12:07 What? Yeah. Which is really, really nice. Oh, that's sweet. Yeah, it was really nice. Go listen to Watch to, we've each done an episode on that trail. I've done too. You have done two.
Starting point is 00:12:18 I have done too. and decided I still didn't like it. Yeah, you're allowed to be wrong twice. Yeah. I am. What movie did I do? Oh, I did the remake of the Fog on there. That's right. Yeah. Yeah. That one was like, I don't want to subject to Katie to this.
Starting point is 00:12:36 So I'll do it on a different podcast. Thank you. I also did, fire in the sky, which I remembered as being a terrifying movie and then watching it as an adult I was like oh no Hey, can I tell you something I hate? Yeah corn on the cob? What? Watching people eat corn on the cob have like the idea of having corn on the cob in my mouth makes me want to like hurl. Poo? I'm shook to my fucking summer. I love a summer. I don't like a corn in the thummer. I I I I the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. I the the the th. I the th. I th. I th. I th. I the. I the. I'm shook to my fucking because I'm very summer. I love a summer.
Starting point is 00:13:09 I don't like a corn on the cob. Top ten favorite foods on earth, corn on the cob is in there. What if you scrape off the kernels of the knife and just eat them with a spoon? It's fine. That's what I do. It's better, yeah. It's better. I'm a cut the cob in half, toss it with some old bay and butter,
Starting point is 00:13:25 and then eat that fucker? Oh, man. It's the teeth. It's the teeth. I love it. I love it. I love it. I love it.
Starting point is 00:13:33 throw the toof. the t the cob, you could just gum your way through it. You think I should rip my teeth out and try again. Start a new. Just put fake gums over your teeth. I do have like a sleeping mouth guard. Maybe I should try that. Sharpen it. It's pretty dull.
Starting point is 00:13:56 It's pretty dull. . Like, the, the, the, the, the, the, the. Put it back into my mouth. Huzza. Huzza. So they're eating corn on the cob. It's disgusting. I find it just... Right, because they live in a fucking cornfield. Oh, it's so upsetting.
Starting point is 00:14:12 It's so gross. And their teeth are going to be rotten before they know it. Yeah. Yeah, I mean, that. I don't know corn was that sure. I guess that's what corn syrup is, huh? Fuck an idiot. I don't know much about farming. I don't know much about much. I was stunned when she said she was married because she is so childlike. Sure. So wild. Yeah, but in 1918, you're a good self-child bride. I guess so. Yeah. But he seems like a child, too. I think they're the same age.
Starting point is 00:14:47 Yeah, probably. And then her dad is wheelchair-bound because he got the influenza. Yes, and he is now semi-comatose. Yeah. She's bathing in front of him, which I thought was strange. Did you? A little bit? Yeah. Getting her adult boobies out in front of her dad. Yeah, her married tits and all.
Starting point is 00:15:09 She gives them a big old slug of morphine and then takes one, takes it to the movies and slugs it there. Yeah, yeah. It's a lot of morphine, I think. A little sneaky, snip of morphine. I also love to be high at the movies. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I always think about trying to sneak beer into the movies. You put in like a now gene bottle. Oh, drinking beer out of a now gene bottle feels very foamy to me. Yeah, very foamy. That would be a bad idea. You could bring a flask I guess. Hence why I've never done it. Yeah. Just walk in with those beer hats on with the helmet.
Starting point is 00:15:48 You could just go to Roehouse where you can buy beers and bring them in with you. Yeah, it doesn't feel the same. You want to sneak it in. Yeah, I want to sneak it in. I love committing a little crime. I love a little crime. A little crime. A little, I. Little, I. Little, I. I. I. I. Little, I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. You can just. You can just. You can just. You can just. You can just. You can can. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the year-old man, drinking a beer in the movie theater. Like, that's no longer a little crime. That's like, what's going on with Alan?
Starting point is 00:16:08 Fuck, Charles Bukowski is in the movie theater again. She heads into town to pick up more Moropheene for her pops, and she sneaks into a picture show, which are eight cents apparently. Yes. And she watches some follies and is giddy and imagining herself as a dancing lady. Yeah, it's really bleak. It's ugh. Yeah. I've never had, I mean, that's not true.
Starting point is 00:16:32 I've definitely imagined myself in like film settings and all that stuff, but like not to the point of where I'm like, I should do that. Yeah, so this is what I'm saying, never have a dream, and you'll always be psyched on anything you do. So I didn't think I could do that. You know, 100% agree with you. Yeah, no goals. Hashtag no goals. HASHTAG Just Hanging Out.
Starting point is 00:16:55 HASHTG Squad Goals. She meets the projectionist in the alleyway. And you're like, oh, he's hot. And then you get closer and you're like, oh, he's creepy. Good from a far, far from good, we used to call that. A Monet. Oh, yeah. From Clueless.
Starting point is 00:17:17 He actually looks a bit like a baby Brendan Frazier, like that, 100%. That movie where he comes out of the bomb shelter and falls in love with Alicia Silverstone. and you, and you, and you, and th. and th. and th. and th. and th. And thi. And thi. Does he only do movies where he comes back from something to a present time? I think so, and that's nice.
Starting point is 00:17:53 Did you see the whale? No. No. No. Yeah, well I'm happy he's back. He seems like a nice guy. For sure. Like I saw some interview with him and the guy who played short rounds that was in Yes. Everywhere, everywhere, all at everywhere. Yeah, and also didn't see that. It's great. Yeah, I know. I know. I fucking know. And Jamie Lee Curtis is a goddame treasure. I have heard. Michelle Yel. I know. I'm a get to it. But the two, they had like history together, they had done stuff when they were younger and like now the both of them are having this resurgence. Yeah, and like they were just like, this is great. Yeah, so it was really sweet. And see no man his best picture in 1990, so. Yeah, airheads was a fucking fantastic movie. We're making records. The last good Adam
Starting point is 00:18:45 Sandler movie arguably. I think that's probably true. Anyway. So she's talking to the hot, not hot, uh, projectionist. Projectionist. He's menacing Brendan Frazier is what he is. So he's got that hot but also creepy. Yeah, and like he's obviously wants to fuck her. Yeah, he's gonna try to fuck her. And she obviously just like someone's paying attention to me me me me me me that. that. that. that. that that that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's probably. I that's probably. I that's probably th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I's probably th. I's probably th. I's probably th. I's probably th. I's probably th. I's probably that's probably that's that's that's that's that's that's also creepy. Yeah, and like he's obviously wants to fuck her, like from the jump. He's gonna try to fuck her. And she's obviously just like, someone's paying attention to me. Yeah. It's all very sad. It's all very, very sad. Not, I mean, him wanting to fuck somebody is not sad. But I also thought it was really sweet that he went and cut her a frame out of the film. But see again, want nothing, never be disappointed. But I also thought it was really sweet that he went and cut her a frame out of the film.
Starting point is 00:19:29 Yeah. So like, when you find a later that he's a bohemian and is living more of like a outside of the mainstream lifestyle, so like him wanting to fuck her gets a little less lascivious, and it's just like I'm a freewheeling dude, it likes to fuck people. Yeah, he's just going around fucking fucking fucking fucking fucking to town, fucking, fucking the ladies. She's fucking fucking fucking everybody. But it's like it feels a little less predatory. Yeah, he's not a predator. He just meets ladies and fucks them.
Starting point is 00:19:56 Yeah. And that's okay. Yeah, that's fine. Yeah, that's fine. She the frame. She shfram frame. She shshshucks shucks she shucks sh f sh f sh f the frame. She the frame. She shcks the frame. She the frame. She tucks tucks. She tucks. She tucks tucks tucks the frame. She the frame. She the frame. She tucks tucks the frame. She the frame. She the frame. She the frame. She the frame. She the frame. She the frame. She's the frame. She's the frame. She's the frame. She's the frame. She's the frame. She's the frame. She's the frame. She's the frame. She's the frame. She the frame. She the frame. She the frame. She the frame. She tucks tucks tucks tucks tucks tucks tucks tucks tucks tucks tucks tucks tucks. She tucks tucks tucks tucks tucks tucked. the frame. tucks the frame. She the frame. She feels feels feels the frame. She the frame into the front of her little overall pockets, her bib pocket, and it blows out while she is riding her bike home. And it blows into a cornfield. It's a lot of corn. Everything is cornfield. A lot of cornfield. All the time, always cornfield. She runs directly into the corn. I was like, didn't it, what did it have blown that far? Mia? And then she gets to the middle of the cornfield. This is an open area with a scaring crow that sits on a ladder. A great fucking scarecrow with big bulgy eyes. Why, why is it evil looking? Because it's so scary.
Starting point is 00:20:33 And her immediate thing is to climb the letter, getting the scarecrow's face and be like, do you want to do it? Why are you doing this to a scarecrow? Don't you know anything? They're pure evil. Someday we're gonna find that god damn scarecrow movie. She throws it, not you Lacey Schambere, whatever the fuck your name is. How dare you? She throws the scarecrow to the ground. Dances with it, sees the face of the projectionist. Kissing it with her tongue. She's such a quirky, weird dreamer, that pearl tongue and all.
Starting point is 00:21:11 She sees the face of the projectionist post tongue banging the head of the scarecrow, which is made out of nightmare. Yeah. And then is like, nah, I'll just grind out it for a while. She screams, I'm married. And then she fucking dry-humps it and really likes it. Try-hump to climax. Dry-humps to climax. I don't think is a thing.
Starting point is 00:21:34 Get in touch. No, do not write me your stories. Actually, Katie. Hmm. stories. Actually, Kitty. If anyone writes in and is like, that's the only way I ever climax, I quit this show. So if you want this show to end, there's how you get it. I just noticed that I had a note when she was watching the movie that was, man, music used to suck. Oh, God, music used to suck so bad. Movies were terrible. Just terrible. I just can't stand music. That sounds like this and dip-di-dip-dip-poo.
Starting point is 00:22:10 Yeah, you don't like that? I don't like that? That's not what you want to hear? It's not what you want to relax to? As the proud owner of an advertisement pros jumped away, the sound design of this movie is really good. Really good. I jumped.
Starting point is 00:22:31 Yeah. Yeah. She goes home and mom is being a jumpy. Yeah. Because that's all she does. Mom's had a hard life. She's riding her about the eighth sense being missing. Yeah. And the dad is like the eight cents being missing. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:45 And the dad is like talking a little bit? Was he? He's always like grunting anyway. And there's all this face touching and eating corn on the cob and things that I am just not good about. It's making me very uneasy. She lies that she bought eight cents worth of candy while she was in town. So her mom was like, okay, then you ate today and takes her food away from her. Yeah, you can have it tomorrow.
Starting point is 00:23:14 Mmm, tomorrow is corn on the cob. Uh-oh. I just wrote, you know, you gotta move out. Yeah, you're married. What are you doing? The fact of her being a married woman is like really kept throwing me for such a loop during this movie because she's such a child, she's absolutely subservient to her mother, which didn't make sense with what we learn about her later in the movie, a whole lot of sense. That she does just do everything her mother says. Yeah. But she does it.
Starting point is 00:23:46 Yeah. Yeah. I mean that was the that was the thing of the time, right? That's what people did. Like I guess, but she's not regular. She is not, she is Abby normal. Yeah, she is Abby normal. Yeah, she is Abby normal. We meet Mitzi. Oh, I love Mitzy too. A cute little sister-in-law. Who, apparently her husband is from money. Yeah, at least for this area. Yeah. Yeah. And Mitzy and her mother are out bringing food to people. Yeah, taking pigs around. Like little suckling pigs. Oh, and we learn that her husband Howard is away at war,
Starting point is 00:24:28 and he writes her this like horrifying letter about screams in the trenches, and he just wants to get home to her. Yeah. Yeah. Boy, is he going to be let down? Yeah. I mean, we see what the rest of his life te te te te te te te te te te te te te te te te te te te te te te te te te te te te te te te te the the theate' the' the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is the the the the the the the the the the thea toea. toea. toooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooohuh. Yeah. Just fucks himself to death. Wait, does he die?
Starting point is 00:24:48 Doesn't he die? Like when she makes him have sex and he dies on top of her? Yeah. Yeah. I forgot. He gets fucking to death, yeah. What a way to go? He died doing what she loved.
Starting point is 00:25:00 So yeah, they drop off this pig. thi's like the the their their their their their their their th. th. th. to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to too? too. too. too. to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to th. th. tho?. tho? tho? thoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. I. thooooooooooooo. He. Hea. Hea. too off this pig and Mitsy's like, this weekend there's gonna be an audition for a dance true. At the church. And Pearl is like, well, this is my break. Like, this is how I'm gonna make it in the world. Yeah. I mean, this is how Bobby Brown got it into addition, so let's go. Is that true? No. No. It's um, it's a weird thing thing like, oh, it's just a church audition, but then it is a traveling tour of many states seemingly? They were just holding it in the church. I see. Yeah. Oh, it wasn't church-based. Nothing to do with the Jibis. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Well, she sneaks out to meet the projectionist. And I th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th with the jeebus. Okay. Yeah. Well, she sneaks out to meet the projectionist, and I thought, why you should probably not have worn your shoes while skulking about on your metal roof, but what do I know? They'll just think it's a hailstorm. I guess so.
Starting point is 00:25:57 Also, we should mention that mom refuished the pig because she does not want to hand out. Right, she just leaves it sitting on the front porch in the like baking dish. Yeah, so we get recurring maggot pig for the rest of this movie. Oh, maggot pig. That's gonna turn the old stomach muscles. Yeah. Yeah, so she sneaks out,
Starting point is 00:26:17 goes to see the projectionist. She's like, I want to see a movie. He's like, have you seen this movie? And I was like, oh no. As soon as he says, I'm going to show you something no one's ever seen before. I was like, it's porn. It's proto porn. What was it? It was proto porn? I mean, I think that was pro-o.
Starting point is 00:26:34 Yeah. I don't think that was pro. Yeah, touchey. Uh, who's just old-timey and like fast? It's jerky. It's real jerky. It's real jerky. And not like, you know how a puppet's elbow should work. No, not like how God made our elbows to work. He really, he, the projections is basically like, this is going to be, then,
Starting point is 00:27:00 shut up. I'm not lying. I listened to the Bub theoday and you were very fucking funny. You listened to the Bubba Master episode? Yeah, because somebody said that I had a good joke, so I was like to hear that joke. I like to toop my own whore? I'm happy that you do, I'm happy for you. Sorry, you were saying. Just that the projectionist realizes that porn is going to be to be to be the p going the p going th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the porn is going th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. the the thi. that thi. that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that th. that that that that that that th. that that th. th. that th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. the. the. the. the. the. the. the the the. the project. the project. the project. the the project. the the projection. the. the. I theateatea. I that's the. I the. I that porn is going to be an industry and he says I'm gonna capitalize early
Starting point is 00:27:25 Which I liked for him Which I was like, oh are you gonna set up a camera now? I mean, yeah, I thought so. Yeah, he doesn't. He doesn't and he stands behind her in a way that you can't see him from the waist down? I was like, oh, she gonna turn around his dick's gonna be out of? He's gonna have a big old, he's gonna. right out of his pants. He doesn't. He doesn't. I did think he was going to try to talk her into killing her parents. He doesn't really, but he does tell her to make the most of it when she's young because you don't get a second chance. And she says, yeah, if only they would die thought he was like, sorry, what'd you say? Oh, maybe. Oh, you, okay, that was weird.
Starting point is 00:28:08 Yeah. I'm still gonna, we're still gonna fuck though, right? Oh yeah. Oh yeah. Oh yeah, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And he says something to her like you could be in these movies and he says I know I'd watch it and I thought Jesus Christ like
Starting point is 00:28:25 saying I know I'd watch your sex tape is not the brag you think it is. Yeah she's not a Kardashian. No. You seen that you seen that one? No no. No. You wouldn't do that. No. You would never do such a thing. No, definitely never seen the Tommy Lee and Pamela. Everyone's seen that. He hung to war with his tick. They show that one in like a high school health class. Look at that thing. You're never going to see one like that again.
Starting point is 00:28:57 Nope. She gets home and her mother is weeping. Just sobbing. Just fucking. And you're like, oh, she's going to go in and comp. Nope, nope. She goes in and looks at her and then leaves. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:14 Ay, ay. So, oh, that's not the time that she fucks him. She just goes and hangs out and then she's like, I have to go. Yeah, that to to to to to to go. to to go. to go. to th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. She's thi. She's th. Hey everybody, not a good pickup line. No, no, no. So we see her going down to talk to Theta again. Oh she wheels dad down to the dock, she's going to kill dad with the alligator. Yeah, and the dad is starting to like breathe heavily and that you can see fear in his eyes and And that's right because what she was in the bathtub she did the thing where the she's like Are you still in there like? That's what she's touching his face. Yeah, I hate it Alan.
Starting point is 00:29:54 She's doing waterfall kisses or whatever the thing is I don't know, but I hate to try to f- her dad to the alligator, mom comes and she's like, yeah, don't feed your father the alligator. No, I've thought about doing this, but don't do it. Yeah. Like, that's the vibe she's putting off. Yeah. And she wheels dad back home. And then Pearl goes to yell at the alligator, because it didn't eat her dad fast enough, right. And she finds a nest? To be fair though, like hell of a their their their their their their their their th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. to to to to to to to to to to to to to to toe. toe, toe, to to to to to to to to to toe. toe. toe, toe, toe, toe, toe, to toe, toe, toe, toe, their, their. their. Yeah, their. Yeah, their. Yeah, their. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. teateate. toda. today, toe. toe. toe. toe. toe. toeate. Yeah, to be fair though, like hell of a way to go. If you really loved your dad you'd find a kinder way to kill him. Like just give him too much morphine. Sure. Instead of feeding him to an alligator. Yeah, but then there's like no moss, no fuss. Yeah, it is. It's not cleaned up it's the whole thing. Yeah, I guess so. Gators don't leave nothing behind? Morphine could be an accident. Sure.
Starting point is 00:30:47 Yeah. And then you just bury him and move on. And then you've got to put him in the basement with the rest of the bodies. Right. So she finds an alligator egg or a nest of alligator and takes one back to raise it on her own, I guess. knocked up. Hmm. Where is the mannigator? Then I wondered, do alligators, don't just lay eggs like chickens. Sure.
Starting point is 00:31:13 But I mean, chickens can lay eggs without being fertilized. The eggs have to then be fertilized by a male, right? Yes. But is that true for alligators or do they only have... Because it's not like alligator eggs are just freely available, you know what I'm saying? Hey a beer scientist can you get in touch and let us know? Yeah, with David I want to say the beer chemist, David? Could you let us know about alligators and eggs and stuff? Just Google it if you
Starting point is 00:31:38 have to. How alligator come? How a alligator get pregnant? How are baby alligator form? Yeah, exactly. Do away and stain mother? Who killed thoubbies? When she walks back into the barn with the alligator egg in her hand, Charlie, the cow, seems to have like soured on her. They put- That cow is a great actor. The cow, the sheep, the chickens, they're all like really good at acting disappointed in
Starting point is 00:32:08 her. Or like a little bit just like grossed out. She puts it up in the hayloff like she's going to raise it as her own. Is this where she makes the alligator that we meet in the next movie? But then I thought, you know you gotta incubate that, right? Well, I mean, alligators would be cold-blooded, so would they be incubating it? David. You knew one science fact, you better know the rest.
Starting point is 00:32:37 Hey, he's a doctor of science. Better know if he's a doctor. So I just want to point out to that this is something we could easily find by googling it'd probably be on like a children's website about how alligators get born and I'm just not gonna fucking do it. So male alligator got a come and nut on a bunch of alligator eggs kids. That's what I think. So yes, she acts like she's going to raise it on her own. And then she sees that the cow's disappointed in her.
Starting point is 00:33:12 Yeah, she doesn't like that. And turns around and crushes the alligator egg. Just smashes it while like potentially willing Howard to die, I think. Oh yeah, yeah, she's imagining her husband walking towards the house and exploding. Yes. I like that. When she squeezes the egg, he explodes. Yeah, and his explosion looks really cool. Yeah, it does. Ayay, yay. So she views him as a thing that's holding her back in life. Sure. Everyone's holding her back in life. Yeah. No, it's not you, Burl. It's everybody else. That's the way it works. Right. Right. that's that's that's th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. th. Yeah. th. th. th. th. Yeah. It's th. It's th. Yeah. It's th. Yeah. Yeah. It's th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. else. That's the way it works. Right.
Starting point is 00:33:46 At dinner, her mom silently unfolds the movie theater handbill and just like slaps it on the table. Take your dinner and go and eat it in the bunk house. Yeah. Ay, ay, ay. Brutal. Yeah. She tells her about the audition and how she's going and the mom's just like, no you're not. Yeah. Yeah. No you're not. So mom admits that she's seen what Pearl
Starting point is 00:34:14 does in private when she thinks no one's watching. Yeah which I guess is killing animals. Yeah or dry fucking scare groups. That too. She says, yes, because Pearl says, please, Mama, you have no idea what I'm capable of. And her mom's like, oh yeah, I do. She says, you can't keep your true self hidden forever, Pearl. They will notice eventually, and they will be frightened just as I am. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:38 But she's also giving her this whole spiel about ungratefulness and feels very Catholic guilt to me. Yes. Oh, and and she, mom slaps Pearl after she yells, I hate you. Yeah, malevolence is festering in you. It's a good line. Sick burn, mom. And this was giving me a Piper Lorry in Cary vibes. One hondo. Um, so. Um, so. Um. So, um, so. So. Um, um. So. Um, so. Um, so. So. So. the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, the the the the Piper Lorry and Carrie vibes. One hondo. So they get into like a little slap flight tussle and she backs mom into the fireplace? Yes, because the mother says something like when you fail and you will fail. I want you to remember that feeling because it's how I feel every time I look at you. Now that is a sick fucking burr.
Starting point is 00:35:24 Can that be the title of our first record as, You want something to cry about? I think that would be a good title. Jesus Christ. But yes, Pearl screams, the whole world is gonna know my name. And she backs her mom into the fireplace. Which her mom goes up like a fucking Roman candle. Yeah, her clothes were, I guess clothes were a little more flammable back then?
Starting point is 00:35:50 I think they're all made of phosphorus paper? Yes. Because she just goes, and her hair gets burned off? Goes up like a torch, exit mom. Yeah, except no. Except she's still alive. Well, Pearl throws corn water on her. There's boiling corn water. Boiling corn water filled with corn. Filled with corn. Who just puts the corn on the table people?
Starting point is 00:36:11 What are we doing here? I thought she took it off the stovetop in her defense. Oh maybe I thought it was just like a they dip their corn in the water. Unfiltered corned on the table. I'm gonna get your sugars. I bet. Corn water doesn't taste too bad. I think that is just corn syrup. Yeah, just keep boiling it. It'll come down to syrup. And you think, oh, she's just going to leave her dad to serve to death. Yay! Yeah, because she puts mom in the basement and leaves.
Starting point is 00:36:42 Ay, ay. She runs to the projectionists. Yes. And he opens the door, he opens the door, and she kisses him, and then he pulls her into the building. Yeah. Little ties are just such a bad look, though.
Starting point is 00:36:55 Little ties? He's wearing like a very short tie of the fashion of the time. I just feel like they're such a bad look. They're very disproportionate, or they make your body look weird or something. Where do you come down on a bolo tie? Are you a bolo tie? Why don't you tell me, as my friend of many years, what you think I think about bolo ties? I think that you probably think that I wore them Yeah. My real response is that no one but Sam
Starting point is 00:37:28 Elliot gets to wear a bolo tie. Yeah, yeah. And anyone else who does is a jerk? It's a it's a weird look. I don't it's you know it's a statement piece. Also ties why are we still doing that? I don't know. Why are we still doing ties? I don't know. It's you. It's weird. It's you know. It's, you. It's, you. It's, you. It's, you. It's, you. It's, you, you, you, you, you, you, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's a th, it's a th, it's a th. It's, it's, it's a th. It's, it's a th. It's a th. It's, it's, it's, it's a th. It's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's a th. It's a th. It's a. It's a th. It's a th. It's a th. It's a th. It's a th. It's a th. It's a th. It's a th. It's a th. It's a th. It's a th. It's a th. It's a th. thi. th. th. thi. th. thi. thi. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th.? Why are we still doing that? I don't know. Why are we still doing ties? I don't know. It's weird. It's a weird thing to put on. I mean, it's just like a necklace for for professional men, right? I guess. Why are we doing necklaces? Because they're pretty. I mean, I don't, I, but it's just a weird thing. It's weird, it's a weird thing. It's weird, it's a weird thing. See, so now they have the, the fuckens. Yes, now they fuck. And he's like, hey, she has a dream
Starting point is 00:38:16 that she's performing on stage in a movie and her husband, mom and the projectionist are watching her, yes. mom and dad and the projectionist are watching her yes and cheering her on seemingly her mom is wearing a mask like a you know like a 1918 COVID mask yeah She takes it off and her face underneath is also her mouth is like weird and burned which I really liked a lot. Yeah And she wakes up and goes to run out of the projection booth where he sleeps. Yes, yeah.
Starting point is 00:38:50 Because he's a bohemian. Because he's a bohemian. And he says, why don't you let me drive you home? So they're driving home. Also, did he, was it, was it usual? I wouldn't think most people did. Yeah, I don't know. I don't know the timeline of how all that panned out.
Starting point is 00:39:09 Yeah. Yeah. Well, he drives her home and she thinks she sees Howard walking up the road. Right, right. And he, the projectionist has a line about hard to know who anybody is these masks people are wearing. And I was like, what do you say in there, Ty West? Are you an anti-masker? Because this is the time, I mean, they're making this in peak COVID, right? But it was hard to know who everybody was with masks on. I liked that. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:39:37 As a moderately famous person, it gave you a little bit more incognito on the world. So she brings him to the house and is like, hold on, I got to get dad situated. But when they get to the house, yeah. The pig is still out front. Oh yeah, a megat pig. Yeah. It's a porch fixture now. Yeah. Why is she doing this introduction to her dad? I don't know. Because she thinks that he's going to take her to Europe, because he said she should go to Europe. But why introduce him to her dad? Her dad knows.
Starting point is 00:40:16 Either her dad doesn't know anything, or her dad knows she's married. So she's just trying to fuck her boyfriend upstairs from her dad. Yeah. Which, that's not right, Pearl. I don't like it. Yeah. She takes him upstairs and like, but she takes the projectionist upstairs. And he and her, like, she lays him on the bed and starts like making out with him, but it is completely one sided. Yeah. And that's when she says you're going to take me to Europe. He says, what's the matter with you? And she goes, nothing in this like really childlike way that's very uncomfortable. Oh, because he hears a thudding coming from somewhere.
Starting point is 00:40:54 Yes. And he's like, what do you do? It could be your father. We have to go see what that is. Yeah, do we? Wouldn't house smell like the burnt mother? Yeah, would you smell like good cookings, right? Oh, hair though. Maybe the smell of the maggot pig is overwhelming.
Starting point is 00:41:13 Maybe. She gives him this line about how the dog had gotten into the food and so she'd put the dog in the root cellar. And then like a minute later when he says something about what's the dog's name, she goes, we don't have a dog. Pearl, you're very, very stupid. Immediately forgets her dog lie. And he's like, I gotta get out of here.
Starting point is 00:41:33 Yeah. Yeah, yeah. And Pearl says, what did you see? What did you see? to be asked. Yeah. Right? Because that means there's something to see. Yeah. What is it? And he says, I'm just scared of you. Yeah, basically. You're scaring me. Yeah, I got to go. And he turns to leave, he goes and gets in his car. And that's the last we see of him, he drives way. And everything's fine. And his life, the rest of his life, he just goes on being a nice bohmian. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Starting point is 00:42:12 And the car is just going as he bleeds and coughs. And then he falls out of the car, and she stabs him through the mouth with a pitchfork. This is such a great scene though. She like stabs him through the mouth while he's lying lying on his back basically right? Yeah. She stabs him through the mouth, screams to the heavens and then stomps on the pitchfork and then the scene cuts. So good. At this point I have the thought and this is going to sound bold. This is somebody's Texas Jainsaw Massacre. Definitely.
Starting point is 00:42:48 This is somebody's like, holy fuck what am I watching? Yeah, for sure. Someone who isn't as desensitized as we are. Yeah. Because it's, it just keeps ramping up and like, I mean, maybe like when she threw her mom's not dead body in the basement was that moment for somebody but this murder's like holy shit yes and if you hadn't seen X you wouldn't know until like that
Starting point is 00:43:17 point that she was a murderer that she was yeah it's wild so she goes in finds that her mother has crawled up the stairs. What does she do? Well, she helps her, she gets her to a hospital, so that she gets proper medical care. Solve on the burns. And then she drags her back down the steps. She kicks her back down the steps. Oh, that's right.
Starting point is 00:43:38 Initially she drugged her down the steps, she kicks her down. How terrifying the the the steps. She she she kicks her down. She kicks her. She kicks her. She kicks her down. She kicks her down. She kicks her. She. She gets down. She gets down. She. She. She. And she dresses her dad up as well? I thought she was going to take him with her? What is she? What is she do? She kills him? She goes her dad. She says, thank you for everything th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. th. th. th. their. their. their. What if those were the last words you heard is your child murder jail?
Starting point is 00:44:07 Ha ha ha ha ha ha. Oh my God. She puts the protectionist car into the water, and Theta comes over for a little sneaky snack. That's right. And then she goes to the audition. But like, ah, we know she's gonna end up on that farm. But we know it isn't gonna go well.
Starting point is 00:44:32 And there's this, the scene of her and Mitzi talking outside the audition. Mitz, super nervous, Pearl seems like dialed in. Yeah, hyperfocused. And there's this just over long shot of them waiting to be called in when it's Pearls Turn next and it's really good. Yeah, it's just really, really good. And like just like everything is hyper saturated color wise. Yeah, she's wearing super, super bright red, or not even bright red, like a ruby red. And like a matching lipstick.
Starting point is 00:45:05 Yeah. And Mitzy is just basically like, if it's not me, I want it to be you, like trying to be supportive. But it's also the contrast of Mitzy has all these other things to do so that if this doesn't work out that she's got something else. And this is literally Pearl's only chance to get away from having murdered her family. And some guy. So she goes into the audition and everything is super slow-mo as she's walking in.
Starting point is 00:45:30 The slow-mo, dark background, red dress is gorgeous. Yeah. It's just absolutely gorgeous. But then it quickly turns to like smiling, smiley ragtime dancing. Yeah, but like, frantic nightmare smiling rag, like penny wise, smiling ragtime dancing. Then she's doing this sort of like clown soldier dance. Who are these clown soldiers?
Starting point is 00:45:58 I love that this is what she's dancing to in her mind, which is the backdrop of World War I with bombs going off and then she's with a bunch of ladies dresses clown soldiers clown soldiers all doing like flying dancing. Hi kicks. Yeah she's feeling it she is feeling it and then Randy Jackson is there and says that's gonna be a no for me dog. He does say it's gonna be a no. We're looking for someone more All-American, someone younger, blonde, and you're like, fuck! It's going to be Mitzi. And he says we were looking for someone with that X-factor. Yeah. And I was like, is that a 1918 thing to see? I thought that was out of place. Like you saw the other movie, you don't need to nod to it, you don't need to be cheeky. I didn't even think that that was a nod to that.
Starting point is 00:46:47 Oh, holy moly. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I know. We were looking for someone who wasn't going to have a porn film filmed on their house, let her lawn in 60 years. But she's doing this like, she's saying, please just give me one more chance, both to the judges and then in her mind, all of her victims, her murder victims are also sitting at the table.
Starting point is 00:47:10 Right, they are her judges. Yeah, yeah, it's really good. Including her husband, who, as we know, is not yet dead. Not yet dead, but she did, um, cheat on him. Oh my god. Please, I'm a star! This is what I'm saying. Don't ever think anything of yourself. Is this good advice? No, you should think you can do it everybody? You got this. You got this. Or maybe you don't and that's okay too. Katie, you had a kid you thought you could do a thing. I just got raw dog. That's that super easy. Is that what you mean? Holy smokes. So Mitzie comes upon her. I'm sitting behind the church. Sobbing. Like snot-nose-snapping.
Starting point is 00:48:05 It is like fantastically uncomfortable, the wailing and the snot. And she says, let me drive you home. Yeah. So she takes her home and the pig is now melting. And I was eating candy as I was watching that, and I just felt a little bit bad. I wish you had been eating like pork cracklins or something. And, what do they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. the th. I just felt a little bit bad. I wish you had been any like pork cracklins or something. And what do they call those things? The pork skins that you can get in the bag. Pork rinds? Pork rinds? Yeah. I don't like a pork rind. I'm, I like there were somebody who was making a vegan pork rinds. What was it made out of potatoes? No, it's like yucca or something
Starting point is 00:48:45 that was like fried and bloated out. They were real good. Yeah, I mean it's just fried with salt. I would much rather eat that than a pork grind. I think pork rind. I think pork rinds are kind of a little. It's a little, yeah, it's crazy. And Mitsy's like, that's a little, yeah, it's crazy. And then she goes inside. And she's like, do you want me to look after your dad? And like, no, that's okay. Yeah. And then she says, basically that she's like worried about talking to her husband, Mitzi's brother. Yeah. And Mitsy's like, well, why don't you practice on me? Mitsy's so sweet. So sweet. I kept waiting for her to have a heel turn, but she really didn't. Nope. No. Uh-uh. And Pearl says, seems like there's something missing in me that the rest of the world has. Yeah. That's not good. Yeah. Who hasn't felt that though? I mean, I don't think I'm a psychopath. No, no, no, no. But just that whole feeling like when she starts this talk, you're like, yeah, we've th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. that whole feeling like, when she starts this talk, you're like, yeah, we've all felt like we were different and didn't fit in with the rest of the world.
Starting point is 00:49:48 Sure. And then she gives what maybe one of my favorite monologues in a film ever, where it's just camera on Mia Goth, and she is just laying out the litany of her crimes. Yes, it's a hell of a monologue. Yeah. And you're, the whole time you're just thinking of Mitzi sitting on the other side of the table being like, uh-uh.
Starting point is 00:50:13 And like, kudos to Ty West for not showing us that. Right. Not giving us the satisfaction of seeing that Mitzy was freaking the fuck out about this. It's so uncomfortable. She's talking about being pregnant and never wanting to be a mother and loathing the feeling of the baby growing inside her. Yeah, I was happy when it died. I was so relieved when it died. Geez, Christmas. Yeah. I hate what it feels like to be me and not you is one of the things she says. Yeah, that's a common thing that everybody thinks all the time.
Starting point is 00:50:47 And it ends with all I really want is to be loved. Yeah, because she all like during this like nightmare litany of her crimes, she also says like, I finally felt seen basically because you loved me. Yeah. Because you saw me. Yeah. And because such a handsome boy wanted me, because you loved me. Yeah. Because you saw me. Yeah. And because such a handsome boy wanted me, because I'm ugly.
Starting point is 00:51:10 And it was just like, oh man. I think she was speaking on the inside. Yeah. Yeah. To which I wrote, you may want to get out of there, Mitzy. And Mitz says, oh, well, all right. Well, I need to get going. Then I wrote, you may want to move quickly, Mitzi.
Starting point is 00:51:28 I think I'd make a solid run for it. She's like, oh no, I have diary, I have to go home now. And then she is walking down the driveway and Pearl comes out, she hears the thumping of the door opening behind her. Pearl comes out and grabs an axe. Yeah. And I thought, did no one never never to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the the the the the the the the the the the tho thi thi thi, thi, tho tho tho to move move move move move move move move move move move move move move move move move move move move move move move move move move move move move move move move move move move move move move move move to move to move to move the the the the the the the thumping of the door opening behind her. Pearl comes out and grabs an axe. Yeah. And I thought did no one ever teach you to sprint Mitsy? Because she's running like a dip shit. Well she probably got home those like little 18 or 1918 shoes. If you have little 1918 shoes, it doesn't matter. You got to know how to run away. I did like that before she goes outside like there's a thrown. thi. thi. I the th. I th. I thi. I thi. I thi. I thi. Yeah. And she's like I didn't get
Starting point is 00:52:10 the part and then they're like no she wanted someone who was like young and blonde and that's you and like I think she like kind of goes well if I tell her I got the part maybe she'll leave me thetell her I got the part, maybe she'll leave me the fuck alone. Yeah, I got the part. I did it. Yeah. And then tries leaving, and then she chases her down with the axe. Right. Murder rises her. I wrote here. Axes me a question. I bet Alan wrote that. Pearl axes her a question. Fantastic. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. So she goes and lays with her in the basement. Everything's fine.
Starting point is 00:52:52 Mom's totally fine. Everything's fine. Yes, her mother. Yes. In her fantasy, her mother is not burned. Yeah, and singing to her in German. Yeah, like a weird German lullaby. We see this this whole scene is her brushing her mom's burned hair
Starting point is 00:53:10 yeah. Dismembering Mitzy and feeding her to the gator. And like these weird like split-screen shots and stuff happening. To the tune of a German lullaby or something? Yeah. Yeah. What does she do with her parents from there? Oh well she cleans up everything in the tune of a German lullaby or something? Of something, yeah, yeah. Oh, yeah. What does she do with her parents from there? Oh, well, she cleans up everything in the dining room and then sets up the dining room table and then sets up the dining room table and then sets up. the dining room table and puts the maggot on the table for a meal with her dead parent. she sure does. Uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that's that's that's that's th. th. th. th. th. the, uh, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the, the, the. the. the. the. the, the. the's thean. thean. thean. thean. thean. thean. thean. thean. thean. thean's thean's th now. Not so much excited. He apparently. This is where we
Starting point is 00:53:55 learned that the farm is called Powder Keg Farms, which I thought was interesting. Yeah. What's about about about about about about about about. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. the th. th. th. th. th. th. thiiol is thoom. thoom. thoom. thi. thiolehau. that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's is that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. t't know, it's about to blow. First of all, what was in that picture that she was holding? Why was it green and opaque? I don't know, but that was like a thing in the other movie........................ Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, th. Right it didn't look like lemonade. It was probably piss. Knowing this woman it's probably a jug of piss. So she is grinning and this just kind of like the credit start to roll
Starting point is 00:54:37 and then the circle comes over her I don't know how to describe this like the that's all folks thing from the end of a of of of th of th of th of th of th of th of th of th of th of th of th of th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. tho. tho. tho. tho. th. that's that's that. thi. that's that's that's th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th.
