Starting point is 00:00:00 Alan. Yes, Katie. I have to tell you. Long live the new flesh. Long live the new flesh. No, live the new flesh. No, so as you know, I just returned last night from your ancestral homeland of Delaware, where I was having a little vacation with my friends.
Starting point is 00:00:29 May I sing the National Hentham of Delaware? Yeah. It sucks. I had a great time. Yeah, the beaches are great. I was there with my friend Perry oftwo previous episodes, and one of, we watched one of his favorite movies, just the other night, which is UHF with Weird El Yankovic. And when this movie started, I was like, oh no, it's a mean version of that.
Starting point is 00:00:57 It 100% is. It absolutely is. There's so many parallels. Perfect. That can't believe that's one of his favorite movies. Oh, why wouldn't it be? I feel like he's not old enough for that to be one of his favorite movies. I don't know. He does say Spatel a City, Spatel a City a lot. Does he want everyone to drink from the fire hose? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:01:18 Put your piss through the wall and check the time. I have not seen that movie since it came out. It's pretty funny. Oh I'm sure, I have no doubt. It's just like non-stop parodies, right? Exactly. Yeah. God bless, national treasure. Natch. Perry or Weirdo. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:01:33 Yeah. Yeah. So, video drum. Long live the new flesh. David Cronenberg, I'll tell you what. Man, oh man, he likes a thing and he does it a lot. He likes a thing and he does it a lot and also might be a profit? Might be a profit. Yeah. Might be another word the search for the Pee. A pervert? Penis. Oh is he a pervert? I don't know. He just got that vibe. Yeah he's a purvey kind of th th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. He's a th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. He's kind of th. He's kind of th. He's kind of th. He's kind of th. He's kind of th. He's kind of th. He's a th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. He's a th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's a th. He's a th. He's a th. He's a th. He's a th. He's a th. He's a th. He's a th. He's a th. He's a th. He's a th th th th th th th thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thvy movies. Third, I don't think he's ever had sex or seen people have sex before. He's got three children.
Starting point is 00:02:09 I got nothing for you, man. It doesn't make sense when sex happens in his movies. Look, the number of times men have pierced to my ears while I'm having sex with them. Won't they slowly grind from behind? What? Okay, first of all, I hate James Woods. Yeah, who doesn't? He's a piece of shit. But I also find him like physically repulsive,
Starting point is 00:02:32 which is I'm sure why he's cast in this film. Sure. He looks like somebody drew a chief Brody from Jaws from memory. Yeah. And like was like, it's fine. put it in your movie, it's fine. And then put it through the copy machine and it got like kind of warped a little bit and they were like, it's, that's, doesn't matter.
Starting point is 00:02:53 I mean, like, also, he's a piece of shit. Real bad dude. Yeah, I was like, oh man, I'm doing a movie with Debbie Harry and it, fuck it. Yeah, she makes up for everything. Great. This movie basically opens on him looking at stills of porn like their headshots, which I thought was very funny. I've never looked at a picture of a woman in orgasm and going, hmm, hmm, contemplative, yeah, I will contemplate. Hmm, what was the motivation for this photograph? Well, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th. th. thi, thi, thi, the thi, thi, thi, the thi, thi, thi, their, their, thi, thi, thi, their, thi, she's thi, she's thi, she's thi, she's thi, she's thi, she's thi, she's thi, she's thi, she's th, she's th, she's th, she's th, she's th, she's th, she's th. She, she's th. She's thi, she's thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thin, thi, thin, thi, thi, thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii. thiiii, thi, thi, thi, thi, Hmm. What was the motivation for this photograph? Well, it's from a show called Samurai Dreams, which I would watch.
Starting point is 00:03:33 Before we get to Samurai Dreams, can we talk about his wake-up routine? Sure. You wake up. You make yourself a cappuccino after, out of a frothing apparatus to look like someone had diarrhea on it. Yeah, yeah. And then you eat cold pizza. Yeah. And then you get to the crust and you go, I'm gonna dip that crust in my cappuccino.
Starting point is 00:03:53 And what? I said we were fucking professionals. What are you doing? Silence your phone. Just back from vacation, coming in hot. I'm working here. Hey, I, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I, yeah, I, yeah, I, I, I, yeah, yeah, yeah, I, yeah. I, I, yeah. I, yeah. I, I, yeah. I, I, I, yeah. I, I, I, I was, I'm, I'm, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. th, yeah. th. th. And I was, yeah. And I'm, yeah. And I'm th. And I, yeah. And I, yeah. And I, yeah. And, yeah. And, yeah. And, yeah. And, yeah. And, yeah. And, yeah. And, yeah. And, yeah. And, yeah. And, yeah. And, yeah. And, yeah. And, yeah. And, yeah. And, yeah. And, I, I, I, I, I was, I was, I was, I was like, I was like, I was like, I was like, I was like, I was like, I'm th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. And I'm thi. thi. And I'm thi. And I'm th coming in hot. I'm working here. Hey, I'm working here. And I was like, I bet, I bet Italian people do that with their pizza crust.
Starting point is 00:04:11 I would. I see nothing wrong with it. Yeah, yeah. But I'm also from Pittsburgh, so I have ranch dressing to dip it in. You made a frothy ranching cappuccino. Ah, someone just threw up. And it's your fault. Ding, ring that pukebill. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:28 So yeah, he's going to sell Samurai Dreams to his co-owners of his channel Civic TV. Yes, he owns like a UHF station. It's channel, what, 83? I believe so. And he airs quite a bit of adult entertainment on it. That's what people want. They want sex and they want violence. Right, but could you do that on UHF? I mean, no, but yes.
Starting point is 00:04:54 OK. Gotcha. Yeah. I mean. I only vaguely remember the thanks. theyf stations. If I remember correctly, like public access. get away with like nudity in weird, like they would have like talk shows where people were naked and stuff like, but not like, it wasn't titillating, it was just like a nudist colony, like talk show or something. Like real sex on HBO.
Starting point is 00:05:16 Yeah. And, God, 1980s, starved for titties. Really? Yeah, I know they're all 80, but whatever. Look at them tet, tets! Yeah. There used to be a public access show in Pittsburgh where they sold just like random shit. It was kind of like a flea market, but they'd present the items one by one and you would call in and bid on them. And I would just call, I would get drunk in the middle of the day, and I would call and I would call and fuck with them.
Starting point is 00:05:49 And it was like, the woman was like trying to sell a mirror. And so I called and I was like, can you have, um, I can't remember what her name. I think it was like, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I can, I the, I the, I the, I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I thi, thi, and I would, thin, and I would, th. I would, and I would thi, and I would thr- I would thr- I would just, and I would the the the the they. And, and I would, and I would, and I would they. And I would they. And, and I would they. And, and I would call, and I would they. And, and I would they. And, and I would they. And, and I would th. And, and I would, and I would, and I would, and I would, and I would, and I would, and I would, and I would th. I would thr. I would thr. I would thru. I would thru. I would th. I would thru. I would th. I would thru. I would thru. I would thru. I would thru. I so they like held up the mirror and you could just see the camera guy standing behind the tripod and I was like nah never mind I don't want it. It was the greatest thing. Wow! Yeah, yeah. The auction show. I think it was called the auction show. What else would have you wanted if you bought anything you had to drive over to this place by the George Washington Bridge and buy it? I was like I'm not going to the to the to to the to to the to the to to the the to to the to the to the to the the to to the the the the to to the the to the the to to to to to to to to to to to to the the the the to to to to to to to told. I'm told. I the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the their their their their their their their their their their their their their their the the the the the their their their their their their their their things. things. things. things. things. things. th. th. the George Washington Bridge in Bahia. I was like, I'm not going in fucking North for sales. I figured maybe like TV trader could have been a name for it as well. No, the auction show. Once she was trying to sell an American flag that had never been taken out of its packaging, so I called and asked to see it out of its packaging. She opened it.
Starting point is 00:06:38 Shit. You're the original troll. I didn't have a lot to do. Hanging out, hanging out. Day drunk. I'm like a done auction show. So one of the partners says that this isn't tacky enough to turn him on, which I thought was a very telling line. Very funny.
Starting point is 00:06:58 Yeah. At this point, I'm like, I think this movie might be a comedy. Ooh, I don't think so. Yeah, but there's like some really funny stuff that happens in it? Yeah? Like that line? You think that's really funny? I do. Okay. Because I mean, I think this whole thing is like making fun of like TV producers.
Starting point is 00:07:15 Sure. And people who think they know what the public wants. It's like like like Noah like like like like like like like like like like like like like prophesizing film. Yes, we are all watching. Oh wait, no we are. Never mind. Right. W. W. E. is larger now than it's ever been. Sure. So he wants something that'll break through. This isn't too tame. He wants something tough. Something gritty. But meanwhile, the whole time David Cronenberg is like, I'll make it look like a th. th. th. th. the th. the th. th. the th. the th. the th. the th. the th. th. the the th. th. the th. the. the. th. the. the. the. the. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the to. to. to. to. the the t. t. t. t. t. t. th. th. th. th. thitty. But meanwhile the whole time David Cronenberg is like all make it look like a pee-bee. So there's just shit around that looks like pee-pies. Go on. I do like the scene in the, this is why I also think it's a comedy in the scene in Samurai Dreams when she's going to masturbate. Yes. But it's you know it's behind a screen so you can't actually see your masturbating. Not tacky enough. Not tacky enough. But yeah, her dildo is a little wooden dildo wearing a kimono and a wig. Yeah, that is very funny actually.
Starting point is 00:08:11 And I'm just like the, I'm done jerking off, I will redress my til and put it in the corner. When she takes the little wig off of it, you're like, oh no, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, oh, it, it, it, it, it, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, is a thi, thi, ttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttthe, It gets vain by the base, but yeah. Samurai Dreams. This is like the beginning, this is also, this movie I'm sure is a prophecy. But I think it also prophesized all of these HBO shows where there's like a plot and you're engrossed on the plot and then all of a sudden people are just fucking and you're like, but how does this move the plot along? You know? So he goes and visits with his unscrambling employee, whose job is just to unscramble things? He's a nerd guy who appears to be cracking some sort of code
Starting point is 00:08:55 by putting a screwdriver into a computer towar, which, I mean, I don't know much about no hacking. Oh, it's all screwdriver-based. And that's how you get the info? You gotta put a screw right into the land card. Land card. There's a computer thing I know. And then some RAM, some memory comes out.
Starting point is 00:09:14 Well, you're going to need both of those if you're going to hack them. Mainframe. Yeah. So he's scrambling a show or unscrampling a show that's just torture porn. Yeah. It's gross. It's gross. And living in the city with August Underground, I could say that it's a thing that people want to watch. Are you not familiar with August? No. They make, um, they make like hyper realistic violent, or they did. I don't know if they still exist anymore. Hyper, like, hyper realistic gore. Oh.
Starting point is 00:09:48 And at one point, they made a movie that looked like a snuff film and like left tapes around. Yeah, that's gross. Yeah, it got a lot of notoriety for people being like, theylough. Yeah. good at what they do, but I think they're for a very specific audience. Which is a lot of what this movie is about. This movie is largely about like, I don't know if it's like saying that home video is the end of the fabric of our culture, but like the idea that when you start engaging with
Starting point is 00:10:17 only what you want to engage with, that like everything falls apart, the TV becomes more real than reality? Okay. See, I just watched that like everything falls apart? The TV becomes more real than reality? Yeah. Okay. See, I just watched it this morning, and I wish I'd had longer to think about it afterwards. That's something that I find really interesting about this film,
Starting point is 00:10:33 because on its face level, this is just an exploitation movie. This is just a gross exploitation movie, right? Yeah, I guess so. But there is so much like, uh, there's so much behind what he's doing in this. There's so much like, just like deep, deep understanding of things that's going on. It's such an intelligent movie. It's very complex. Yeah, yeah, but it's like, it's also gross. Oh, it's also like, you're gonna get something out of that for like a man's tummy gina. You're gonna get something out of that.
Starting point is 00:11:09 But like it is very like the movie's like I was like, oh this movie is like the film, the French like New Wave film Alphaville it has a lot of that vibe to it. Definitely seen that. Oh, okay. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Uh, Uh, AlphaVille is this like, it's a science fiction movie that has no science fiction in it. It's like all implied sci-fi. Okay. Yeah, it's very, I mean, you simply must. I simply must.
Starting point is 00:11:39 Quasant. I definitely didn't try to walk out of that movie. Oh, wow. How do you, did you just not make it? No, I was like, oh, Missy didn't want to leave. So, just wasn't for me. Yeah, but like I can understand like how that would influence what he's doing with this movie. Got it.
Starting point is 00:11:54 If it did influence it, it just felt very much like that for me. with an O apostrophe like an Irish name? Yeah, funny. That is funny. You're right. He's being interviewed on, he's on a panel show, yeah, with Debbie Harry as Nicky Brand. Yes, only referred to as Debbie Harry in my notes. Sure, and she is a Frazier? She seems to be like Frazier, Crane. Yes, she's like a radio therapist. But... But... Okay, and go ahead. Um, and then there's Brian Oblivion. the the the thian. the thian. there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there's, there's, there's, there's there, there, there's there's there's, there's, there's, there's, there's, there's, thi, he's thi, he's thi, he's thi, he's thi, he's thi, he's there, he there, he there, he there, there, there's there's there, there's there's there's there's there's there's there, there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's thi, thi, thi, thi, thi's thri-i's thi's thi's thi's thi's thi's thi's thi's thi. thi. thi, thi therapist. But, okay, and go ahead. And then there's Brian Oblivion who only is interviewed on TV through a TV is what he says. That's why I refuse to appear on television, except on television. Funny. That is funny. All right, you're right, it's a comedy. And they're talking about like how TV is just devolving into smut and murder. Yes, the name of th is th is th is th is th is thi thi thi thi thi thi the the thi thi the thi thi thi thi the thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi, thi, thi thi thi thi thi thi thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi, thi, thri. thri. thrieeiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii, thri. thi thi, how TV is just devolving into smut and murder. Yes, the name of the panel is television and social responsibility. This doesn't really happen though, right?
Starting point is 00:12:54 What do you mean? He doesn't really go on a television panel with Nikki Brand. Oh, I don't know. Nick has been dead all along. Oh, spoilers for this movie. Has she? Yeah, hasn't she? I thought she didn't die until she left. I thought she died when she went to Pittsburgh.
Starting point is 00:13:11 How many times do you think I laughed about that? When you said you wanted to do this, and I said there's a special treat in this movie for you? That's what it was. Yeah, that was the special special special special special special special special special special special special special special. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. The video. The video. The video. The video. The video. The video. The video. The video. The video. The video. The video. The video. The video. The video. The video. The video. The video. The video. Yeah. The video. Yeah. Yeah. The video. Yeah. Video. The video. The video. The video. The video. The video. The video. The video. video drum feed is coming from Pittsburgh. Yeah, and Pittsburgh in the 1980s was a seedy place. Yeah, very seedy place. Yeah. I don't see, I don't know, I don't know, like, you know I'm terrible that shit. Like, people were pointing out to us from the autopsy of Jane Doe, where they were like,
Starting point is 00:13:39 they say it's been four days of clear weather. And we were like, oh, why did the sheriff take so long? That storm never happened. It was all in their minds. It was all the witch making them think that there was a storm. I'm such a fucking idiot. No, you're not, what would you try to tell you. So the storm never happen? Sure. You don't know that the storm never happened.
Starting point is 00:14:05 Sure. You don't know that. I don't, I don't. They don't know that. I'm not pointing at you, but I mean them. And also they better have silenced their riggers too. Yeah, really. We're fucking professionals here. No, it was just Peacock letting me know what football matches I should be watching tomorrow. Ooh, what's on?
Starting point is 00:14:25 Uh, United and Tottenham tomorrow. Yeah, I know about that one. Yeah, fuck United. Yeah, sure. Sure. It's like Tottenham too, yeah. Yeah, I mean, it cares. I'm trying to be a Brentford fan.
Starting point is 00:14:36 Really? Yeah, they tied with shitty ass Tottenham too. Yeah, fucking Westham. Let's become Brentford supporters. I've got so many Westham shirts though, it seems like I should still- Yeah, you're right, you don't waste those. Yeah. All right, well. Any who. Any who, um. I'm glad our society has largely gotten over the violence and TV thing. I feel like that being such a such a plot point of the like 90 of my childhood, sure, that like TV makes children violent, and I feel like we've come to the, we've all come to at least,
Starting point is 00:15:13 most of us have come to the consensus that that's not true. Sure, and yeah, I feel like video games really took that on. Yeah, now everyone's just saying that v. the v v v v v. V v. V v. V. V. V. that that that that that that that that that that thi like that thi. V. V. that that that that thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. t. tha. t. t. t. t. tha. t.v.v.v.v. I is t.v.v.v.v.v.v.v.v.v.v.v.v.v.v.v.v.v.v.v.v.v.v.v.v.v.v.v.v. t.v. t. t violence and video games makes... I think that's on its way out too. Yeah, now it's mental health, see. Oh, mental health and video games make you... Violent? Something about a cathode too, Bray. And I was like, well, good thing we don't have tubes anymore. Exactly. Everything's, something, we'll all have new names. What are you talking about, Brian oblivion, My name is not Bride Oblivion. No, oh shit. No, that does not sound
Starting point is 00:15:50 like you're from County Clark. That wasn't good was it? It wasn't. It wasn't. Can you do better? Ablagora? You'll be living in a hole if I don't get me gold? You just got to go into into lepre, into things that he definitely said in a Lepricon movie. Look we haven't seen all of them. We never know. And we never will. No. When he says to Debbie Harry is like, well if you're not in a sex, why are you wearing
Starting point is 00:16:21 that dress? Yeah, that's gross. Yeah, no, he's a grosso. And her response is, well, I always live in a highly stimulated state. I'm just like, what? Yeah. I don't understand how she's a radiotherapist. That's why I think this isn't happening. Yo, radiotherapistrying to fuck? He's always trying to fuck. I don't, I feel like he's actually a bit of an in-cell. Oh, ay-ay, yay. So if they go back to his place. Yeah, don't forget she works at the radio, what's the radio station she works for? Cram? Cram. Cram. See you're a thram. Cram. That's some Canadian thradi-a-o. th-c. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. C. C. C. C. C. the-c-c-c-c-c-c-c-c-c-c-c-c-c-c-c-c. the-c. the-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-c-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-s. the-s. th-sa-s. th-sa-sa-sa-sa-sa-sa-sa-sa-sa-sa-sa-sa-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a. Canadian radio, ADO, M-A-D-O. You've got it.
Starting point is 00:17:07 Yeah. Across the border in Pittsburgh. We're not far from Toronto, you know? I was really hoping that they would do like a scene of her in Pittsburgh. I realized now that that doesn't make any sense with the plot of the movie, but I kept waiting for like, I love to see shitty, seedy, 1980s, Pittsburgh, when I was only allowed to be downtown for, like, a parade, and that's the only reason you'd go. I love the people in Pittsburgh still think that areas are shitty in Pittsburgh that are
Starting point is 00:17:33 not shitty anymore. No, I know. I think it's hilarious. Like, oh, you go downtown at night? You mean where all that stuff is? You mean, you? You mean, you? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah? She knows what she wants.
Starting point is 00:18:06 And then she's like, yeah, let's watch this porno, and then you can cut me. So they're watching video drum. Yeah. So I guess maybe this is where she first sees it. Yeah. So she actually is just this weird person. Yeah. I mean not weird. I mean she's weird. What's she doing on this TV saying, I live in a sexy, stimulated state? Okay. So, she's like, they're watching video drums. She's like, yeah, this does it for me. This really gets my hots to trots.
Starting point is 00:18:36 Take out your Swiss Army knife and cut me right here. Just a little. Looks like someone beat me to it. Like, what the fuck? Mm-hmm. Yeah. Yeah. I don't think he knows what sex is. No, maybe not. Or he just thinks that this is really funny. I don't know. I don't know. Somebody get Cronenberg on the blower. Let's figure this out. You ever fucked? He had to have fucked. At least three. Those kids look like him. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Yeah. Yeah. th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah fucking in the video drum. Right. And then he's going to work the next day. Right.
Starting point is 00:19:30 And he meets my favorite character in the movie. Masha. I would watch Greek mythology porn though if they got the classics, right? I mean, there's a whole movie called Caligula. Yeah. I remember that being advertised in penthouse. Okay. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 00:19:46 Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. She has her finger on the pulse of underground TV, does Masha? I think she does. Yeah. And she's like, I want to be your agent. I want you to make your own TV show. Right. Why does she want that?
Starting point is 00:20:03 Because he knows what's going on. He knows what should be out there. Okay. And she's the old guard and he's the new guard. Got it. So as far as I can tell, having not had much time to digest this movie, there are like three people or factions of people that know about Video Drome. And that's Brian Oblivion and his daughter, Masha, and what is it spectacular optometry or whatever? Yes, I believe so. Yeah, opticals, yeah. But she knows about it but just like doesn't like, I don't know, doesn't want to spread it. I thought she didn't know about it when he asked her about it. He's like, do you know about video drum?
Starting point is 00:20:47 And she says no. But she finds out for him, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Right, so he's sort of a vector for spreading video drone. Right. Which he becomes even more of later. Yes. We'll get to it, we'll get to it, I guess. We'll get to it. Or we'll try. So then we cut to Debbie Harry is going to Pittsburgh
Starting point is 00:21:08 on assignment for two weeks? Yeah, she's gonna audition for Video Drone. Which she still thinks is a TV show, but she's perfect for it. Right, and she has now seen Video Drone, so perhaps hallucinating. Maybe. Or she's just so horny that she has to go there. He also says something about like wearing your sunscreen and I was like, yeah, it's Pittsburgh. I was like, oh, Kurniburg's been to Pittsburgh. It's a funny joke.
Starting point is 00:21:36 You think that's a joke? Yeah, I do. Okay. Or do you think people in Toronto just think anywhere south is sunnier than where they are? I think that's a Canadian, what is the word I'm looking for? Myth? Myth? Yeah, foktail? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:52 Um, but he's like, the South America, they execute people for it. In Pittsburgh, who knows? Hi, Lul. So much shit talking on Pittsburgh. I know. And then she's like, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thitalking on Pittsburgh. I know. And then she's like, uh, sorry, I'm just gonna, I can't hear you, I'm burning my titty with a cigarette right now. She's a, so extra. She's just so extra. And he's like, yeah, right.
Starting point is 00:22:13 Pretty cool. Pretty cool. Pretty cool. I guess I'm down for this. So weird. Oh man. Cut to, belly dancer. Yes. You ever been in a restaurant with a belly dancer? No.
Starting point is 00:22:33 It's as uncomfortable as you think it might be. I can only imagine. I've been in a restaurant with a mariachi band and was incredibly uncomfortable with that too. When they just come to your table and scream sing at you? Yeah, I'm like I'm trying to eat this. I hate when people perform while I'm eating. Oh, I don't want it. I've never set foot in a Johnny Rockets for that reason.
Starting point is 00:22:50 Oh, I don't even, is that, I don't even know. Yeah, like Johnny Rockets, they like sing to the to-up. the would be singing and I was like, you're just singing, kill me. Yeah. Like, it's so sad that theater school didn't work out for you. So he's having lunch with Marsha. Masha?
Starting point is 00:23:18 Uh-huh. He says, did you get in tough the toughs with our friends in Pittsburgh and I thought that's us. It's definitely us. You got a friend in Pittsburgh. We got an email from somebody the other day that said, hey are you guys from Pittsburgh? It was like, what dog? Dude, you knew? Have you heard me? Yeah, she says she learned some stuff on the subterranean grapevine. Yeah, I like that. She's on like early 4chan somehow. You think Masha's an in-sell? No, Masha fucks. Masha definitely fucks. You don't make things like Apollo and Dionysus without fucking.
Starting point is 00:23:51 Masha knows how to fuck. I really want to watch that. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Dude. So, complete diversion, but you were probably one of two people who might appreciate this. I was listening to a great to a great to a great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great might appreciate this. I was listening to a great courses on the Iliad and Homer. Ooh.
Starting point is 00:24:08 Because you know how I, you know how I get down. Yeah. And they were describing the relationship between Achilles and, why can I ever- Yes, Petroclus. And she's talking about it and I start tearing up and I was like, God damn you, that book that I read about their love. Broke my fucking heart. What is it called, Song of Achilles? Song of Achilles, yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:29 So good, you gave it to me for my birthday. I did, I thought you would like. I cried, I cried like, I cried like a baby. It's so good. And then Cercy, it was Yeah, that really made Circe Singh. Yeah, fantastic. Do everyone in the fucking Iliad make them have their own book? She's doing Persephoney next, but she had long COVID and is struggling with like, it's still struggling. Oh shit. It's a bummer. Yeah. Anyway, read read Madeline Miller's books. Yeah. I finally saw a picture of her and I was like, oh, you're exactly what I thought you would look like. Exactly. She looks like a classics professor from Boston, yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:05 But yeah, read her books, they're fantastic. Yeah, so good. Give them to your friends. Ah, anyway. So, Masha is a, is on the underground. Yeah. She finds out about the snuff TV. And she says it's more political than mafia? And I don't know what that means. He had suggested earlier in the movie that it might have been mafia. Oh, I see. Because they do business. Yeah. Yeah. She says it has a philosophy and that's what makes it dangerous. So she's like trying to sway him from it. Sure. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. God. This movie is too smart for its own good. I know. I have a note that she says
Starting point is 00:25:45 Marta pervert? Because she's got that thing about the server where she's like you're a little too old for me and then she looks at the server who is like 30? It's very interesting looking. We're in a very silly wig and she's like ah. And she tells him that Brian Oblivion is associated with a video drone. Right, Professor Brian Oblivion. So he goes to the Cathode Ray Mission, which makes no bones about what it is, like it's, you know, right there in the title. What is the going on in the Cathode Ray Mission? It's giving homeless people an opportunity to watch television to heal themselves.
Starting point is 00:26:28 To heal themselves. Uh-huh. Okay. Because TV is the thing that's going to help us all. It's a disease they're healing with television. Yep. That I'm unclear on Brian Oblivion's point of you. So is this like the TV the the the the the the TV the TV the TV the TV the TV th. T th. th. th. th. th. th. th, th. th. th. th. th. th, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, thi, I'm thi, thiolioliolv, that I that I that I that I that I'm that I that I'm that I'm that I'm that I that I'm that I that I'm that I that I that I that I's that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. ti. ti. ti. ti. ti. ti. ti. that's that's thi. So is this like the the TV? And now I think this if this movie was made today would be social media right? It'd be what? Social media? Oh yeah. Where it's just like if we can keep them on here 24-7 watching this you know and just engaged without actually being engaged. Like, docile. We will make money off of this thing, off of their docility. Okay.
Starting point is 00:27:14 Not a word, but I'm going to say it. Isn't it? I don't know. It is now. It sounds like it could be. Language is ever changing. Yeah. And so I think that's what, like they're saying, like, but this is putting like an ideology, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, thi, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. like they're saying like, but this is putting like an ideology to it rather than like just a business thing. So it's taking that idea that it's it's, um, I feel like this is spinning right outside my grasp.
Starting point is 00:27:39 It's taking that idea that like you will, we will like sort of, oh, what's, what's the singularity? Do you're familiar with the idea of that? Like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, th, th, like, th, like, th, th, th, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, the, the, the, the, the, the, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th like you will, we will like sort of, oh what's, what's the singularity? If you're familiar with the idea of that, like, we'll upload our consciousness to TV. Sure. We will all become television at some point. Okay. Or not TV, we'll upload it to the internet. Yes, but he's like this is, we'll all become television. Okay. So like Brian Oblivion, Oblifian, thian, th, th, th, th, that, that, th, that, th, that, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi thi, that, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, we'll thi, we'll thi, we'll they. We'll they. they. they. they. We'll the, we'll the, we'll the, we'll the, we'll the, we'll, we'll the, we'll, we'll, we'll, we'll, we'll, we'll, we'll, we'll, we'll, we'll, we'll, they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. We'll, they. We'll they. We'll they. We'll they. We'll they. We'll they. We'll learn, no longer exists in the real world. He only exists in television. Thousands of hours of tapes that his daughter seems to edit together to make messages?
Starting point is 00:28:13 Or is it magic? Yes. Okay. That's where we get into like, it's gone beyond beyond. Got it. Yeah, got it. His daughter says that the monologue is his preferred mode of discourse. Yeah. Which is, you know, obviously, obviously, thly thly thly thly thly thly thly thly thly thly thly thly thly thly thly thly thly thly thly thly thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi. He th. He th. He th. He th. He th. He th. He th. He th th th th th th th th thi. He thi. He thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thousan thousan thousan thooooooo-n. thooooooo-hea. thoooeo-hea. thi. thi mean? His daughter says that the monologue is his preferred mode of discourse. Which is, you know, obviously a statement about television talking to you and you can't talk back. Mm-hmm. And the television knows your name. Yeah, that's true. She has a great interesting mouth. Okay.
Starting point is 00:28:39 She had like really interesting teeth.. Yeah, it's all just just, th. th. th. th. th. thi, th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thoom. thoom. thoom. thoom. thoom. thoom. tho. tho. thoom. tho. thoom. thooom. tho. tho. thoom. tho. tho. tho. the thei. thei. thei. thei. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. tha. tha. tha. tha. to, to-s. to-s. toooo. tooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. toa. an era of interesting teeth. Yeah, we gotta get more interesting teeth in the world. Yeah, it's all just those weird white choppers that everyone has now. Big old clumps in there. Like, some point where Debbie Harry's wearing like the brightest red lipstick, and she's got like, I obviously smoke teeth. Yeah. And they're just like like that with those smoke teeth? You know what I mean? That's why you get that smoky voice. I don't know. She can hit those highs. Oh yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:07 Oh yeah. Oh yeah. Oh yeah. So what's the deal with him going at home and unwrapping his gun? Why was it wrapped in like brown paper napkins? I don't know. Just on his refrigerator, there's a giant sign that says, Start the Day Well on Grapefruit? With a big grapefruit on it? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:28 And I thought, but why? Who doesn't love a grapefruit? He eats cold pizza for breakfast. And dips it in his cappuccino? Yeah. There's a knock on the door. It's his assistant. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:37 His delightful assistant. She is a goddame. What's your name, Bridey? Yes, Bridy. Okay. Where does David Kronenberg find all these amazing actors that I never see in other things? That's a great question. Like, is it a testament to his directing that these people are so fucking good? Maybe. Because all these people in this movie are a god-dama-a- How much Canadian cinema have you engaged with? That's true. I. I I I I I Ithis podcast. Yeah, that's true. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:05 But like the guy who plays a convex? Yeah, and the guy who plays Harlan too. I really liked him. They're great. Never, they've been in like two other things. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So his assistant comes and she's bringing him a new video tape, I think. Yeah. And he hallucinates that he slaps her?
Starting point is 00:30:26 Right, but when he slaps her, it's not her, it's Nicky Brand. Debbie Harry. Yes. And then he's like, I'm sorry for hitting you. And she's like, yeah, you didn't hit me. Yeah. And then he's like, beta max, that's what beta max is, right? Maybe, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:30:49 It like flexes, the tape flexes? Yeah, I don't think they flexed. I think they were just regular tapes, Katie. Do you think that beta max was like video drone? Is that why it like David Cronenberg is like now you are also fucked up from having watched my video drone you know watch it this morning I'm all I'm all messed up about it yeah yes so yeah the video like pulse it or the tape pulses at him and like the where the little sprockets go in to spin the things like bubble out like nipples it's very weird
Starting point is 00:31:22 in this tape we learn about Brian Oblivion's thesis, which is that television will become reality and reality will become less than television. Which is what I think has happened on social media with like you only engage in your like little, you know, bubble. Right. Yeah. Yeah. David Kronerberg was a fucking prophet.
Starting point is 00:31:52 He's still alive. Yeah. He's though. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. theyrific.
Starting point is 00:32:02 thi. . He's. Yeah. Yeah. Something, this and another movie he made years later and that are apparently all a trilogy. Oh, nice. Yeah, I mean, he's, yeah, I would not be surprised like if he is has like an Orwellian effect on things where his movies become like sort of part of the zeitgeist. Yeah. You know, eventually women will be giving birth to children outside of their bodies.
Starting point is 00:32:24 You talk about the brood. Talking about the brood? I love the brood. It doesn't. Oh my God. I'm just going to have a bunch of anger baby, so I'll see you later. And have Oliver Reed chase them around? Fantastic! Count me in. Beryl-chested maniac.
Starting point is 00:32:39 Brian Oblivion tells Max, Max is James Woods' character, he says your reality is already half video hallucination. Half! Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. He talks about how he got a brain tumor. When they removed the tumor, it was called VideoDrome, this is where he starts slipping for me. Yeah, yeah. He says he was video drone's first victim. Mm-hmm. Wait, what? And then we watch him being strangled by a man in a hood.
Starting point is 00:33:12 Yeah. Or is it, is it Debbie Harry? It's Debbie Harry? Yeah, yeah. She says, I want you, Max, come to me. And it zooms in so it's just her mouth. Yeah the TV has gotten pulsating and vainy. I hope my furniture doesn't undulate and grow dick veins because I watch too many movies. I want to rescind calling him a pervert. Yeah. I think he
Starting point is 00:33:38 just thinks that everything is sex. Yeah. Every fucking thing is sex. Which is I think makes you a bit of a perfect. So, the TV screen bubbles out and we have a close-up on Debbie Harry's teeth and mouth. I guess those are inner mouth. Generally. And James Woods pushes his face into the TV screen. Yeah. Like he was going to motorboat her mouth. Right. He goes all the way in. He goes all, he goes all the TV screen. Yeah. Like he was gonna motorboat her mouth. Right, he goes all the way in. He goes all the way. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:34:12 Oh, man. So he realizes that he's now, he has been hallucinating since he first saw video drone. Right. So he goes to see Bianca Oblivion again. Brian and Bianca Oblivion. So good. She tells him about how the tone of the hallucinations is determined by the tone of the tape's imagery? Sure. Which I don't quite get. Oh yeah. Because it seems like all video drum is just violence. There's no like happy episodes of Video Drome. It's true, but there's like sexual videos of video, like there's sexual violence, there's just
Starting point is 00:34:52 regular plain on murder violence. Just torture violence. Yeah. Okay. She also says that the signal from the videos induces a brain tumor in the viewer. Right and it can be be delivered under a test pattern or anything. Yeah, and he says, well, why'd you let me see it? Yeah, great question. She's like, I didn't know you. And then she tells him that her father is in the next room. Right, so when they open the door, what's in there? Brian Oblivion, right? Yeah, he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he's, he's, he's, th. th. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, now. He's thousands of video tapes. That she has been like cataloging and potentially editing, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:35:31 Yeah. What a fucking life Bianco Oblivine is living? Just show and TV to homeless people and editing her dead for other people to watch. Very weird. She talks about how he made thousands of these tapes, like Michael Keaton in my life, because he was going to die. Do not bring that movie. So sad. I saw him like a goddamn child. Such a sad movie.
Starting point is 00:35:55 The premise of the movie is he's going to die. You know he's going to die. Fuck when they bring the little circus to tell. Oh, the little circus. It should we, oh no, Alan's crying. It's so beautiful. I love it when you're laughing at me crying. It's just the way you said. It's so beautiful. Oh, God. I love that.
Starting point is 00:36:26 We cut to, we find out that Harlan is not hallucinating. He's the guy who's been showing him video drone. Right, he's the guy with a screwdriver in the computer tower. Right, right. And then we cut to him, cut to James Wood, sitting in his apartment, wearing a shoulder holster and no shirt. We're just watching TV. And scratch in his tummy. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the thu. We. We, the thu. We thu. We the thu. We the thu. We the. We thu. We the. We the. We the. We th his apartment, wearing a shoulder holster and no shirt. Wow, we're just watching TV. Yeah, and scratch his tummy.
Starting point is 00:36:48 Yeah, where we see the rash that he's getting, which then sort of becomes a scare, which sort of then becomes a vagina. Yeah, uh-huh, uh-huh. I refer to it as the tummy vag. Yeah. Yeah, and he's itching it or scratching it with his gun like you do and then just just Inserts the gun into his tummy vagina. I was like hey missy. Why is he doing that? And she's like I don't know Penises are like guns or guns are like penises. Yeah. And he's like oh oh no Cronan bur. Yeah, see I thought it was more like a mama kangaroo and her Joey. He's just keeping it safe. Oh now I just have the song Joey by Concrete Blonde stuck in my head.
Starting point is 00:37:32 Cute. And he pulls his hand out of his tummy vagina and there is no gun. Yeah. He just stored the cost. He's just stored it there. He's a very slim man. I feel like you would see the outline of it. Yeah. Yeah. I love the like the the prosthetics and like effects are great. It's. He. He there. He there. He there. He there. He there. He there. He there. He there. He the there. He the the there. He's like the there's like the the the the the the the th. He's like. He's like. He's just like. He's just like. He's just like. He's just like. He's just like. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. It. It. It. It. It. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. I. the. the cost. He's just stored it there. He's a very slim man. I feel like you would see the outline of it. Yeah. Yeah. I love the like the prosthetics and like effects are great. There's one point where like his arm is in his tummy and he's trying to pull it out and it's obviously a fake arm because it's like weirdly gray and the hair looks real bad on it. It's really thin. Really thin. Really thin, yeah. I liked it. So he gets a call. Who is it from? Barry Convex. Barry Convex! And then I thought, like, wow, TV screens are flat now.
Starting point is 00:38:15 Ha ha ha ha! Bury Convex would like to talk to you about video drone. So come on down to spectacular optical who make cheap glasses for the Third World and Missile Guided Systems for NATO. He says we make, yeah, inexpensive glasses for the Third World, missile guidance systems for NATO, and Video Drome. That's what he says they make. This is where I realize we were never going to get to go to Pittsburgh. But also, making cheap glasses for the Third World and missile guidance systems for NATO is very funny.
Starting point is 00:38:48 That is very funny. You're right. I just let this all slide over me. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:38:57 So he wants to tape Max's hallucinations. In this like vision helmet? Which is the design of which looks great. He looks spookiest shit when he puts that on. Yeah. Yeah. Um. The Barry convex tells him that none of our test subjects has returned to normality, but you're doing the best so far.
Starting point is 00:39:21 Which isn't great. You stored a gun in your tummy ji. Yeah. And the, which, which, which, which, which, which, which, which, which, which, which, which, which, which, which, which, which, which, which, which, which, which, which, which, which, which, which, which, which, which, which, which, which, which, which, which is, which is the, which is, which is the, which is, which is, which is the, which is the, which is the, which is, which is, which is, which is, which is, which is, which is, which is, which is, which is, which is, which is, which is, which is, which is, which is, which is, which is, which is, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the You store a gun in your tummy jino. Yeah. Yeah. And that's top tier. Yeah. When he puts on the thing, it turns his vision into like Doom, the video game? Yeah. Yeah. But then it comes in a stark relief when Debbie Harry walks in. Right. They're on the video drum set now. Yeah. And she hands him a whip to whip her. Yeah. But then she's in. Right. They're on the video drum set now. Yeah. And she hands him a whip to whip her. But then she's inside a pulsating vainly TV. Right. And he gets really into it, hitting the TV with the whip. And they're both moaning and whipping. Yeah. But then there's someone hanging up by her wrists and it's not Nikki. It's Masha.
Starting point is 00:40:07 Yeah. So, like, I was like, is this some sort of commentary on like sexual fantasies and like, like I've got Froyd would have a fucking feel day with this movie. Yeah, there's a lot of psychosexual shit in this, huh? Yeah. Yeah. But Masha is also enjoying the whipping? Sort of. Yeah, I think. I don't know. There's that like pleasure and pain thing that like it's overlappy. Where you got, Pinhead? When we need you? Oh, Monroeville? Oh, that's right. For God, he lived in Monroeville. Somebody get dug on the blowerower. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th th th. Yeah. th. to to th. Yeah. th. th. th. Yeah. Yeah. th. th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, that. Yeah, that that that that th. Yeah, that that that that that that th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. That's right. For God, he lived in Minroville. Somebody got dug on the blower.
Starting point is 00:40:47 Yeah. No, don't. He seems, I'm sure he's a fine man. Yeah, the guy who's trying to get us to have Doug Bradley on the show. I just like, what the fuck would we do with Doug Bradley? What I talk to him about? So, man, you live off 22. That's a rough commuant out here, huh? Easy access to the Monroeville Mall, though, right? Squirrelil tunnels, though, my God, always backed up.
Starting point is 00:41:10 Why do people slow down when they go into them? They're wider than their own. You just run right over to Turtle Creek, though. Say it again. Turtle Creek? No. Crick! No! Yes! Anyway, Doug Bradley, I'm sure you're originally. I'm sure you're not listening.
Starting point is 00:41:30 So, Max wakes up in his bed and there's someone next to him. That was a dumb dream. Anyway, let me roll over and, whoa. It's Masha. It's Masha. It's Masha. It's Masha's dead body. Yeah. And tied up! Yeah. Yeah. So it calls Harlan. Nice to have all these people at your Beck and Call who just like roll it. You're a UHF station executive. Do you really have this much power over people's lives? Yeah, isn't the line of succession like the president and vice president, UHF director? Yep, that's it. I understand later why Harlan shows up. But his assistant does it too? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. the the the the the the, the, the, th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. the, the, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, the, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, the, the, the, the, th. Yeah, the, th. Yeah, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, the, and, and, the, the, and, the, the, their. Yeah. Yeah, their, their, their, th. th. th. th. thi. th. they. th. they. th. their. their. their. their. their. the Yep, that's it. I understand later why Harlan shows up, but his assistant does it too, and she's not in on it. No, she seems to, like there's that trope,
Starting point is 00:42:09 it's like she seems to be in love with him on some way. Yeah, she believes in him for whatever reason, I mean. Me. What? What? What? So? Just making sure he's over there. Still extant. He's just turned slightly to be towards the sun. Oh, baby.
Starting point is 00:42:29 Yeah, he's not doing great. I'm sorry. It's all right. It's going to happen someday. I know. So he, it calls Harlan over and he's like, Take pictures of what's in my bed. Why does he want pictures of a dead body in his bed?
Starting point is 00:42:43 I tho, I tho, I thing to say to somebody when they don't know what you're talking about. Yeah. Harlan does not see Masha. No. So when Max goes back in, Masha is not there. No. Harlan's like, fuck you. It's not even 7 a.m. and I was like, way to set up a work life balance. You got to put these these these the boundaries the boundaries the boundaries the boundaries their their their their their their their their their their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. th. th. th. th. th. th. Yeah. thi. th. th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. their. their. their. their. their. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. It's true. So he says I'm gonna go to the lab and you want to meet me there? Yeah. And he says, did you see me on video Drome last night or something like that? Why would he? Because he had the thing on his face? Yeah, so he thinks he was on video drum. Okay. And then Harlan says there's never been video drone. Not last night, not ever. And fucking convex comes in, and he finds out that Harlan's been pulling a long con. He's been working there for two years. And Harlan's like two wonderful years, I love you.
Starting point is 00:43:39 I feel bad for Harlan in this moment. So their whole thing, as far as I can tell it, is that they're like the morality police, that they're trying to weed out anyone who would choose to watch this gratuitous violence by giving them a brain tumor. Huh, okay. You don't think so? I mean, I think that's a totally valid idea. I had
Starting point is 00:44:05 thought about that. Okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I thought it was more of like a control thing. Like the Roddy Roddy Piper movie? Yes, this was giving very strong they live vibes. They live, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It was before this though, I mean this was before they live. Yeah. thr. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I. I. Yeah. I. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I. I. Yeah. I. Yeah. Yeah. I. I. Yeah. I. Yeah. Yeah. I. Yeah. I. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah., but I do have a note that says get your kicks is a good phrase that I wish people to use it more. Hmm. That's how you get your kicks, huh? Yeah, I guess it's okay. Spread up there with get your rocks off.
Starting point is 00:44:36 That one always makes me feel uncomfortable. Well, it's about, you know. Yeah. Thank you. Because Barry Convex says to him like, why did you even want to watch it? And he's like, well, business reasons. And they're like, really? Is that why? Because you're a horn dog for this shit. But doesn't he say we need video drone for these savage new times? Yeah, to get rid of all these people, I think, to cleanse the earth of people who would intentionally watch this. I think. I think. This is where I wrote, does that be Nikki went to Pittsburgh and is just hanging out there
Starting point is 00:45:12 since it's not really made in Pittsburgh? Like, I wanted them to cut to her and have her be like just wandering around like the Strip District, trying to find. She's just just th, she th, she th, she th, she th, she th, she th, she th, she th, she's, she's, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just th, just thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi. thi. thiii. thiiiiii. thiiii. thi. thi. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, to find. She said cheerleaders. Yeah, she said, have a nice day a cafe. Other things that may have been there in 1983. Yeah, I have no idea. Oh, going to Pamela's. Yeah. Great pancakes. You like those pancakes? I've never been. It's always been so packed. Really? Go to the Millvale one. Oh, wow. Oh, wow. It's a sometimes a little line, but it's not bad? I've been to quote. I. I. I've the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. I've the the the th. I've the th. I've the th. I've. I've. I've. I've. I've their. I've. I've. I've. I've. I've. I've. I've. I've. I've. I've. I've. I've. I've. I've. I've. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I've. I've. I've. I've. I've. I've. I've the the to the Millvale one. That's the original. Oh wow. Is in Millvale. And there's sometimes a little line, but it's not bad. And to quote Hannibal Burress, I never knew an entire town could be haunted. Milvail? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:45:54 No, there's just a lot of Millbillies. And you can sit in the Michelle Obama chair. Oh, I see. They put a plaque. on the chair that she sat in, which I love so much. But not one for Barack? I don't know that he was there. Oh, he went to one of them. He might have gone to Squirrel Hill. Okay, well, she definitely went to Millvale. That's awesome.
Starting point is 00:46:11 I have a picture of Lucy sitting in the millvail. In the Michelle Obama chair. Does she suddenly have great biceps as well? I wish. I. the. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. to, th, th, th, to, th, to, to, to, the th, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, tho, tho, tho, thu, to tho, to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to th. Oh, th. Oh, to th. Oh, to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to th. Oh, to thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho. Oh, thooooooooooo. I thoooooo in her biceps and her elbow crook. What does say TV is the cause of the rot. Yeah. So yes I think you are correct. I think so. So. Convix has a new grosser pulsing tape for him. Yeah. He says I've got something I want to play for you and just jams it into his tummy vagina. That's not consent, right? That is not consent. Oh man.
Starting point is 00:46:49 Then he starts hearing Barry Convex's voice saying, we want Channel 83, Max, give it to us, kill your partners and give us Channel 83. And I was like, fuck this is the plot of UHF. So he does not do that. He just goes and he reports himself to the police and that's the end of the movie. Yep, that's what happens. And or he reaches in his tummy vagina and pulls out a gun that then forms itself into his hand. I love this because it's a really kind of protracted scene of the gun, these little cables come out of it and they go through the thumb meat of his hand which is like looks so incredibly painful. And then into his wrist.
Starting point is 00:47:32 I love it, like a robot. I know the answer to this question, but I'm going to go ahead and shoot it it at you anyway. You ever seen the movie Tetsuo Iron Man? No. It's about a man who becomes metal. Okay. Yeah, and it's very like visually stunning and it's like was giving me vibes. This was giving me those vibes. Nice. Yeah. Wires grow out of his fingies into his wrist. Is a note that I have. They do. And then he goes into the boardroom and shoots his pals. He really does it. Yeah. What a joik. He runs out into the break room. And there's a whole ass Canada-C Canada to to to to to to to to to to to to to the to the the to Canada Canadathere's a whole ass Canada dry vending machine. I thought, God, you have such a demand for Canada dry. It's a decent ginger ale. It's one of my favorites.
Starting point is 00:48:15 It's a ginger ale liker. I go for the bold, it's a little bit more ginger. Yeah, spicier. What's your favorite ginger ging ale? My favorite? I really like to make his finest. Okay. That's a ginger beer. It's true. Is there a difference? Yeah, yeah, ginger beer tends to be more gingery. Yeah. But I guess ales are beers. B. B. B. B. B. B. B. B. B. B. that are all ales are beers, but not all. al. the beers. or. the beers. that. the beers. the beers. the beers. the beers are. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that's. that's. That's. That's. That's. That's. That's. that's. That's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that. that. that's. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. the. that. that. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that why we say ACAB. All. Canada dries our beers. Okay, got it, perfect. Oh, so he kills his partners and Bridey comes in,
Starting point is 00:48:57 which I love that name by the way. Yeah, it's short for Bridget, I think. Oh, maybe. Yeah, that's a giddy. So she comes in and she like, whisks him away from the murder scene. Yeah, she's like, are you th. th. th, are th, are th, are th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th thi that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that th. Okay, th. Okay, th. Okay, th. Okay, th. Okay, th. Okay, th. Okay, th. Okay, th. Okay, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th thri th th th th th th think it is. Yeah, that's a giddy. So she comes in and she like, whisks him away from the murder scene. Yeah, she's like, are you okay? Are you safe? And she's like, well, you gotta get out of here and come with me so you're safe. Yeah. He's got a, he's got a handgun.
Starting point is 00:49:15 And he looks like he's what I'm bright. I'm hoping she's just not willing to help him kill his partners. I don't think so. Yeah. So now the voice tells him to kill Bianca Oblivion. Yeah. And I was like, that is absolutely going to be my next call of Cthuloo character name. Bianca Oblivion. I'm gonna do an Irish accent the whole time. And that's gonna sound like. Ha tita, tita,. Blarneystone. Blarny Stone. Blarny Stone. It's me, Bian. Nope, nope, nope.
Starting point is 00:49:51 I just can't do good accents. That's not true. You do a fantastic Pittsburgh accent. Yeah, it's just you I am. I like that, um, on Bianca's desk, she had like a place setting with a meal and then two kinds of wine. She had a red and a white, and I thought, you're a classy bitch, Bianca. He's broken into the Cathode Ray mission to kill her.
Starting point is 00:50:17 And she says, so it was to be you after all, you've come to kill me. So she'd been waiting for this. She knew it was going to happen. Because, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, th so maybe, th so maybe, so maybe, so maybe, so maybe, so maybe, thi thi, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th. th. th. th. th. th, th, th, th. th, th, thi. thi. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. theea. th. th. thi. th. th. th. th. th'd been waiting for this. Yeah, she knew it was going to happen. Because, okay, so maybe there's like these two warring factions of like they want to, because doesn't Brian Oblivion say that his partners killed him? Yes. So, Barry Convex was in Harlan or his partners? At least Barry Convex. Okay. So they are, he was trying to use, they were trying to use VideoDrome to rid the earth of gross grossos.
Starting point is 00:50:56 A Grosso free society. Yeah. And Brian Oblivion is... Trying to heal people through TV? Maybe. Okay. I don't know. You know I'm not good at the thinking parts. I'm just trying.
Starting point is 00:51:15 Yeah, yeah, yeah. So he... She shows him... Debbie Harry getting killed. Yeah. She said she's been dead since she left. Oh, since she killed. Yeah. She said she's been dead since she left. Oh, since she left. Okay.
Starting point is 00:51:29 So yeah, she tells him that basically he's an assassin for Video Drome now and that they can program him and play him like a video recorder. And at this point we see his hand with the gun and it's all like goopy around it. It looks like a real duke-fist. Penn. around it and the penis hand finger gun comes out of the TV yeah like if you had any question whether or not Coronaberg thought a gun was a dick yeah he has a dick gun come out of the television said he sure does and shoot at at max yes and then the TV turns into a man's chest? Max's chest. Yeah, it's with bullet holes in it.
Starting point is 00:52:10 And he, the TV says, death to video drone, long live the new flesh? You've become the video, word made flesh. You turn against video drone, long live the new flesh. Yeah, which is great. Yeah. Like, just, it sounds like freaky-deaky. It sounds like something a cult would say. It's just such a good phrase. Yeah. Long live the new... Like, it sounds like, um, uh, stuff that, uh, Heaven's Gate would say.
Starting point is 00:52:43 Exactly, yeah, yeah. We catch a news broadcast about the shootings of the other executives that Heaven's Gate would say. Exactly, yeah, yeah. We catch a news broadcast about the shootings of the other executives, and they're like 34-year-old Max Wren, and I threw back my head and screamed, 34! In what world? In what world? The 1980s, man, everybody looked old.
Starting point is 00:52:59 Yeah. I like that spectacular optical does actually see patients. Because they have a storefront, and I thought, well, I the the the the the their their their th. We th. We th. We th. We th. We th. We th. We th. We th. We'd th. We'd th. We'd th. We'd th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. that, their th. We'd th. Yeah, they have a storefront and a man from the Caribbean that runs the store. This is one hell of a script you got here. He says to a woman for no reason. That man's name is, oh it's King something. What the fuck is... Oh, it doesn't matter. Oh, King Cosmos.
Starting point is 00:53:26 Oh, fantastic. Yeah. But yeah, it's one hell of a script you got. Jesus! It's just like says something like you wouldn't be able to see anything without it. Right. The guy, calm down. It's like, no, what you want to hear a medical professional say? So he... Oh, his tummy hand eats, or it's tummy veg eats Harlan's hand. Right, Harlan is there with the box. And Max says to him, what's in the box? And Harlan says to him, that's in the box, and Harlan says your head, and I thought, oh my god. You fucking stole this from, he said, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, he's like, he's like, thu, thu, he's like, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, god you fucking stole this from he's fucking sold the seven. What if you said it's Quintoth Maltrow's head?
Starting point is 00:54:09 Yeah. Maybe you'd like to, sorry go ahead. That's such a weird thing to say to somebody and repeat it? Yeah. It's like it's your head. Yeah. Maybe you'd like to go visit somebody else now. So they tel that he'll see th th they'll see they'll see they'll see they'll see they'll they'll they'll they'll they'll they'll they'll they'll they'll they'll they'll they'll they'll they'll they'll see they'll see they'll see they'll see they'll see they'll see they'll see tells them that he'll see him in Pittsburgh. I lulled. Because that's where they're having the spectacular optical conference. Yes, okay. So yeah, so Harlan is holding this like undulating tape made of flesh and he
Starting point is 00:54:39 tries to jam it into the tummy vagina. Yeah. But Max has a really strong core and he like holds on to him? Yeah. And eats his hand? Which comes out in the shape of a coffee can? A coffee can which is ticking? Which blows up and takes out a wall? Yeah. To which he walks out and says see you in Pittsburgh. Yeah. Okay. I was going to ask you because I figured in your profession, you've probably been to more than I've had. I've been to many conferences, but I've never seen this.
Starting point is 00:55:12 Once they had earthwind and fire play, and I was like, this is not my demographic. This is for old white men. I work in an old white man industry. And this has, it's the Medici line of glasses. Medici, yeah. And so they have like a Renaissance era sculptor who gets a pair of glasses and it enables him to sculpt real well. It's funny. That's funny. And then the people who are watching the sculptor rip off their
Starting point is 00:55:46 Renaissance era clothes and do a dance number? Right. And I thought hopefully he's hallucinating this too. This is just like a weird bonus. This is just like bananas. It is. It is. And then Brian, or Barry Convex comes out to talk about the Medici line of glasses to his employees or whatever. Right. It is. Right. It is. Right. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It's. It's. It's. It is. It is. It is. It is. It is. It is. It is. It is. It is. It is. It is. And th. It is. It is. And th. It. It is. It is. It is. It is. It is. It is. And the, the the the the the talk about the Medici line of glasses to his employees or whatever. Right. Or potential salespeople or whatever they are. Yeah, distributors or something. And he walks up on stage and shoots him. With his gun hand, which is all just fles now. Yeah, and then when Convex hits the stage, all of his fat bubbles out of him?
Starting point is 00:56:27 Yeah, he like breaks down to his inside elements, like bones and just viscera and shit? I don't know why. It's very weird. What is Barry Convex? Just a fat head? Because he got a bunch of fat head. It's a very fat head. I don't know. Like, I don't know what that stuff was supposed to be. I don't know either. It was like, Kronerberg, you're smarter than I am, or just smarter than I am. Or just smarter than both of us, and weirder than both of us, but also just really likes gross shit
Starting point is 00:56:59 sometimes. So he's like, well, who cares? Just make it happen. What if Gina Davis gave birth to a maggot? Did you all ever think about the, I'll be the doctor, I'll be the doctor, don't worry about that. that's fine. So Max isn't then sneaking into the harbor, which now the movie's really beginning to lose me. Yeah. And he sneaks onto a boat.
Starting point is 00:57:19 It says condemned vessel, and I thought it seems like you could just move that. It's not like it's a condemned building, you know? Well, they have to dismantle it. I guess. Yeah, you can just put it out to sea. I'm done with this. I thought that's what we did in this country. Well, they're Canadian so they maybe they're better than us. It's like when Pittsburgh cut Donzies off the boardwalk down the, off the boardwalk walk board board board board board board board the board the board the board the board the board the board the board th and just and just and just and just and just and just and just and just and just, the board wa wa wa wa. And just and just and just and just and just and just the board the board the board the board the board the board the board the board the board the board the board their and just and just and just and just and just and just and just. Did you know we did that? It's pretty great. Donzys? Donzies? Donzies. It was a dance club. On the river? Yeah, it was like basically on like a floating barge that was like moored to the dock.
Starting point is 00:57:57 And when we got sick of it, or they filed her bankruptcy. So it like wasn't like thia thia th. thi th. th. th. th. th. thi thi thi thi thi thi thi. to to to to to to thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thoing, like, like, like, to to the thi. to be thoan-I. the thi, the thioms. tooanzies. theaunzies. Don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't tson. tson. to. tson't tson't, tson'n'n'n'nzonsi. tsonzzzzzzzies. tonsies. tonsiosies. tonsi. tonsi. Don't tons on a Friday night when it was full of patrols. No, but that would have been great. They just hooked it to a barge and took it to Kentucky. So he gets onto the boat, and Debbie Harry is in a TV on there? Right. I'm here to guide you, Max. Death is not the end. So she'll show him how to kill himself by shooting herself in the head. And when she does, the TV's hot dogs flop on the outside? Yeah, there's like a video of him with a burning barrel with his gun hand and then shooting himself with it.
Starting point is 00:58:36 Yeah. And someone says, Long Live the New Flesh, maybe he does? Yeah. And hot dogs come out. Yeah, the TV's glass breaks and the hot dogs come out. Started that fire though, because when we cut back to the scene, it's the same scene. Yeah, uh-huh, and then he says the thing and shoots himself. And she says come to Nikki. Yeah. He done did. He done did it. He done did it. He done. It was fantastic. I wish I. I genuinely wish I? I genuinely wish I the the the the the the the the video. the video. the video. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the th. th. the the th. th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the scene. the scene. the scene. the scene. the the scene. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the scene. the scene. the scene. the scene. the scene. the scene. the scene. the scene. the scene. the the the thea. thea. thea. thea. the thea. the the scene. the scene. the. I loved it. I thought it was fantastic. I wish I genuinely wish I had watched it a couple days ago so that I have more like coherent thoughts about it because I want to sit with it for a while but I loved it. I thought it was great. I love all the Pittsburgh jokes. I love that David Kronenberg doesn't like Pittsburgh but he did in 1983. No, no. I'm gonna give it a nine.
Starting point is 00:59:25 I loved it. Yeah. What about you? What do you think? So I don't think I've seen this movie in probably 30 years? Okay. It was way weirder than I remember it being like. I remember all the weird bits, like all the like striking weird bits like Tummy
Starting point is 00:59:38 Jina and Debbie Harry being in it. I was like, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, I, I was like, I, I, I, I, I was like, I was like, I thi, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I thi, I thi, I don't thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, I thi, I like, oh, this is our second Debbie Harry movie. It sure is. But, uh, yeah, I really, I mean, I think, like, at this point in time, in his directing career, like, this was his carpenter run, like, Cronberg is unfuithable at this point in time. I think this was his first, like, big studio movie. Yeah. And it did poorly at the box office. Of course. Because who would go see this? It's for such a specific group, but like, it's instantly a cold classic. Yeah, freaks and weirdos. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I think a nine is perfect for this movie. It's so good. It's so weird. Fuck James Woods. Fock James Woods. That's what's really not making it not a 10 for me. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, but yeah, it's a it's. It's. It's a. It's a. It's a. It's a. It's a. It's a. It's a. It's a. It's a. It's a. It's a. It's a. It's a. It's a. It's a. It's a. It's a. It's a. It's a. It's a. It's a. It's a. It's a. It's a the. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. it's a fucking movie. It's why and it's like Like I said early, it's so much smarter than it has or needs to be Yeah, and like it could have just been a gross out movie about TV. It could have been street trash or could have been whatever. Yeah, or it could have been as dumb as they live, which is a very, very dumb movie.
Starting point is 01:00:39 Excuse me? Yeah, movie has a lot of great philosophical ideas. Like, um, Yep. The one with the, um... Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. If you just buy in, I mean, you know, capitalism is the only idea. It's got a capitalism sucks. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Can I tell you something that I think, well, you won't like. What's that? I like David Kronenberg a lot better than John Carpenter. Interesting. That's fine. I don't think you're going to like that. Why would I not? I feel like you're going to get upset because you're going to get upset. You don't think That's one thing. I will say Prince of Darkness sucks.
Starting point is 01:01:28 I love you to death. You are allowed to be as wrong as you'd like to be. It's a fucking perfect movie. There's nothing I would change about that movie. You're insane. You're insane. Remember when that guy just tumbles into a bag of bugs? It's so good.
Starting point is 01:01:43 Katie. I have that that that that that that that that that that that that's th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th. I th. I th. Starting point is 01:01:54 Oh, hello. Pillsbury dough to poke them in the tunneling, theymea poke, Poak. Oh, the end of it they would poke them in the tunnelie and go, he-hee! Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Thank you for being awesome. Hearing your gleeful banter and sincere French, oh, you don't have consent to poke me. Oh. You poke chubby mums in the tum-tom.
Starting point is 01:02:25 I don't think we should do that. No. You have all the consent to poke me that you want. This guy, no. Sorry, Michael. So I don't know you. Denied. I do not know you're like to.
Starting point is 01:02:34 Yeah. Yeah, because if we walk outside and he pokes you I'm gonna be very upset Thank you for being awesome hearing your gleeful banter and sincere friendship has helped me through some lonely times Oh, Michael Yins the best did I yins correctly? Okay, um, it depends on what part of Pittsburgh you're from. Yeah, because you can drop infinitives like R and to be and things like that if you're really, really yinsy, so you could say yins the best? So, um... So, um, um, um, um, um, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to be to be th, to be to be to be to be to be to be the to be the the the the the the the the the the their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th. th. thi. thi. the, the, the, thin, the, their their their their their their their their their their their their their to B and things like that if you're really, really yinzy so you could say yin's the best so you'd have to be deep yin's for that and if you really want to get like deep deep you would have pluralized it because there's two of us. Yins are the best. Yins are the best. Yins are the best. Yins are the best. Yins is are the best. Yeah, but but but yinses. Yins is the yin, yin, yin, yin, yin, yin, yin, yin, yin, yin, yin, yin, yin, yin, yin, yin, yin, yin, yin, yin, yin, yin, yin, the, the, the, the, the, so, so, the, the, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, th, th, the, th, the, th, the, th, the, th, the, the, the, the, th. So, th. So, th. So, th, th. So, th. So, th. So, th. So, th. So, th. So, th. So, th. So, th. So, best. Yeah, it'd have to be, yin's the best. Yins are the best. Yeah, there you go. Yeah, yeah, so yeah, I would say you did a great job. Yeah, you did great. Yeah, don't, I mean, we're just throwing out helpful ideas
Starting point is 01:03:30 we're going to use it later in conversation. Sure. It's a gender neutral pronoun. But I don't know who would book us. P.S. I am also a six-foot-tall, big beard man. Alan, what is your beard care routine? Oh, tell us. Thanks. So I, you know, shampoo my beard, and I use some conditioner on it as well. What brand of shampoo are you?
Starting point is 01:03:58 What brand of shampoo? Uh, whatever? Yeah, same thing I used for my head. I did have a specific beard shampoo, but I found the results to be not that different from head shampoo. Even though beard people will tell you that it drains you of oils. But I always put an oil in my beard. I have a beard oil from honestly Amish that I use. And my eyebrows just hit my hair line. It's got like avocado oil and a bunch of other oils. So I use that and that goes onto my skin under my beard so I'm not fl. And I. And I. And I. And I. And I. And I. And I. And I. And I. And I. And I. And I'm the. And I'm the. And I'm the. And I'm not. So I use that and that goes on to my skin under my beard, so I'm not flaky. Okay. And then I have a beard balm that I use. This is your daily routine?
Starting point is 01:04:30 Yes. Wow. The beard balm that I use, that keeps the beard kind of the beard kind of streamlining, keeps the strays from sticking out. Okay. And then a brush for the final aspect of it. Yeah, I'm a lot. You are a lot. I'm so proud of you. Your beard does look great. It always looks great. Yeah. Thank you. Very well-kempt. I don't want to, I don't want to be a guy with a trashy beard. I'd like to have a good-looking beard. I would like you to put a ponytail holder in it, just sometimes, over. Why? Just for fun. Sometimes I do it when I'm reading because like if I'm laying down and reading my beard will stick up. Yeah. That's sometimes when I'm
Starting point is 01:05:11 reading I can't see around my nose. It does obscure my vision sometimes. I have another quick message. Yeah. This is from Scott. Hi Scott. And I have to sing this part. Wait let me just say thank you Michael. Yes, thank you, Michael. Oh, I'm halfway there. Please sing that. Scott, you dance for me, Klan. I did it. You did it, too. Polk not accepted, singing will do.
