Episode Date: December 4, 2023

Listen, EMTs. There's a thing that happens to us towards the end of the year that makes us feel like we are on some kind of vacation though we are very aware that we're not. Regardless, we're acting l...ike it this week with the brand new Blumhouse production "Five Nights at Freddy's" and as a result, you're getting a variety of digressions: baseball players of yesteryear, fast food restaurants of yesteryear, cell phones of yesteryear, sleepytime drinks of yesteryear, and, you know, talking about this movie.  Wanna hear some other Blumhouse episodes? Just this year we've had Episode 421- "M3gan" on our own feed and "The Exorcist: Believer" which you can hear over on the God Awful Movies feed. We've also loved a number of other Blumhouse films, such as Episode 124- "Get Out," Episode 293- "Happy Death Day," and Episode 322- "Freaky." The regular lineup of links! Starting point is 00:00:00 Blum-house. Blume House. Blume House. They're back, baby. This is their highest grossing movie ever. Word. Word. Weird. I know, right? And it's like not well reviewed if I... Not, not at all. Well. that all. that all. that all. that. that all. that all. that. that all. that. that. tho. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the the th. the the th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the their. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. thooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. their. their. their. their. their. their highest grossing movie ever. Word! Word! I know, right? It's like not well-reviewed if I read. Not at all. Not like the Exorcist Believer. Wait, this movie made more money than Getout?
Starting point is 00:00:36 Allegedly? OK. I mean, I read it on the internet, so it must be true. Yeah. That's quite a bit of money. Yeah. tha. thoged. thoged. tho. tho. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. tho. tho. th. th. thi. thi. thi. too. too. too. too. too. too. too. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. thea. thea. toea. toea. toea. thea. toea. thea. thea. Not. Not the. Not the. Not true. Yeah, it made $299.4 million. That's quite a bit of money. Yeah. Yeah. Although in this day and age, that'll barely get you a loaf of bread. It's true. Eggs are like, what, $2.98 million? Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:00:52 It's unbelievable. Oh, Bloom. Oh, Bloomhouse. Oh, Bloomhouse. Oh, Bloom. in five nights at Fridays. I want to say we've seen some high highs and low lows from Bloomhouse on where off ambulance this year. We saw Megan, which we loved, we saw, well I guess that was on gam, but still we saw Exorcist Believer, which we love. I mean whatever you say. And I feel like there's one more that we did. And Insidious the Red Door, which we have hopefully not ever seen.
Starting point is 00:01:28 No, we never will. We will, though, won't we? We have to do it. I know. Yeah. Yeah. We have to do every film in the water-surf. We haven't even done an Annabelle yet.
Starting point is 00:01:39 I can't know that I can. Oh, Katie, you can. Didn't you say it was the worst movie you'd ever seen? No. I'm pretty sure you did. It was bad. All right. It's not the worst movie I've ever seen. That still goes with Avatar being the worst movie I've seen. Mainly because it cost $250 million and it doesn't have a story.
Starting point is 00:02:03 Why have a story when you have $250 million? Ooh, lookie, it's a video game that I'm watching somebody else play. Yeah. Fudge that, you know what I mean? Yeah, I do know what you mean? Funk that. Are we cleaning this episode up?
Starting point is 00:02:17 Because this is a kid's movie? By the way. I can show this to a 12-year-old no props. No problem on it. At what point did children become comfortable with dead children, being kidnapped and murdered? That's the tiping point. I mean, you either got to get him at like three where they don't understand the concept of death. Sure. So they're like, oh, they'll be back later. Or like 12. Yeah. Well, they're dealing with their own mortality. So seeing another their their their their, their, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thii, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi. thi. thi. thi. th. to to to to be to be to be to be to be to be to be tip. tip. tip. tip. tip. tip. tip. tip. tip. to to to to to to toe. toe. toe. toeeeateat toeateateate. toe. toeate. toe. today, toe. today, today, they're dealing with their own mortality. So seeing another child die, I remember having very hard nights of dealing with my own mortality when I was like 12. Oh, God, I thought not a wit. Did you watch this on Pecocock? Uh, I did watch it on Pocock? Did you get to any good ads? I totally zoned out for the ads. Did you get any good ads? Did you get any good ads? I got th? with ludicrous. What? I liked it quite a bit. I hate when ads make me like them, but you know how I feel about ludicrous. Sure.
Starting point is 00:03:09 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Well, the rest of them I was getting the Pirates pre-sale, uh, opening day. the rest of their, uh, tickets, tickets, tickets, tickets, tickets, ti, ti, ti, ti, ti, ti, ti, the, the, the, to, to, to, to, to, to, the, the, the, the, the, th's, thi, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. to to to-a. to-a. to-a. to-a. to-a. to-a. to-a. to-a. to-a. to-a. to-a. tha. tha opening day? April 4th or something like that. It's November right now.
Starting point is 00:03:27 Yeah, we gotta have something to look forward to, or else you'll kill yourself over the winter, you know? If I got tickets in April, I gotta live on. Well, God bless you pirates. Thank you, pirates. It's amazing you haven't driven me to suicide. Hey, happy, everybody. How you doing? No, I'm fine. Speaking of cold, there's a cold open on like a scared security guard. Yeah, we jump right into the deep end.
Starting point is 00:03:50 Yeah. And he's doing the diehard thing of like climbing through the vents. And we hear someone singing. Or scatting? We're doing like a rockapella thing. Oh no. They're credited on Wikipedia as scatting. Oh no. Can I ask a question? Doom, da da da, mmm-dom, da, yeah, yeah, I gotta do the whole thing. Okay. Ah, uh,
Starting point is 00:04:14 uh, Moe Town, Philly, back again. Go on. Do you remember the group rockapella? Sure, yeah. Is that? Is that scatting? Are the, is that scat? Is th? Is that scat? Is that scat? Is that scat? Is that scat? Is that scat? Is that scat? Is that scat? Is that scat? Is that scat? Is that scat? Is that scat? Is that scat? Is that scat? Is that? Is that? Is that? Is th. Is that? Is that? Do that? Do that? M? M? M? M? M? M? M? M? M? M? M. M? M? M? M? M? M? M? M? M? Do? Is th. Is th. Is th. Is th. Is th. Is th. Is th. Is th. Is th. Is th. Is th. Is th? Is that? Is that? Is that? Is that? Is that? Is that? Is that? Is that? Is that? Is that? Is that? Is that? Is that? Is that? Is that? Is that? Is that? Is that? Is that? Is that? Is that? Is that? Is that? Is thi? Is thi? Is thi Roccapella? Sure, yeah, yeah. They're more of your childhood than mine for sure. Are they, is that Scadding? Is that Scadding? Or is that just like, Acapella Music? Scadding is non-word-based. Okay. So scatting is just, um-dom-dum-dum-da. I guess maybe you're not all that familiar with rockapella then, because they've got a whole series of doing that. Oh, do they? OK. They do a cover of Eye of the Tiger, that is fucking fantastic. Sure, sure. There's also just one guy going, bow. Bow, bow, bow. Yeah, I think what he would be doing is scatting.
Starting point is 00:04:56 Although, I mean, when are be non-word, huh? Okay, thanks, just checking in. And is it called scatting because you're just shitting on the mic? You just up there shitting on the mic. Great question, we should write into Scatman, because he's a Scatman. B-bbbbbbbbbbom, bum, b-bom, bum. Now I have to do it. Bump-bump-bump. Shitting on the mic always reminds me. That Lorne Hill line where she says she shits on the mic. She's like, hell yeah you do, Lorne Hill. She was rude enough. She could do that.
Starting point is 00:05:33 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. For sure. Yeah. So yeah, this guy's climbing into ventilation shafts. And something is following him. Something that's loud and mechanical sounding. Yes.
Starting point is 00:05:47 And he escapes into some sort of concert hall. Yeah. And then he wakes up metal strapped to a chair. In a saw machine, I guess. Yeah, but it's like a bare-faced saw machine. Yes. I like this quite a bit. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:06 I did? Good. Yeah, I'm on board. Now let me, let me ask you a question. Yeah. You were too old for Chuck E. Cheese, right? Sure. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:15 Do you remember like the birthday song? Like, did you ever experience to chucky? tochee cheese? th Chuck E. Cheese? No, never been. Okay. Have you ever watched it on the internet? No. It's really fucking scary. Is it? Yes. What's the birthday song? You're going to die later because you're getting older. You're gonna die. That's just your birthday. It was some version of happy birthday but was not set to happy birthday for copyright reasons. Sure. But it was like if you wanted cake you had to be in that room at somebody's whoever's birthday party was. You're a Britney's
Starting point is 00:06:48 birthday party. The parties are always in there because they do the birthday song. You want cake you have to be in there terror. Absolutely terror for me, yeah. What was it about them that was scary? They're animatronic and they move in a very jerky way but they also look right th. to to their their their. their. their. their. their. their. I I I I I th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. the. their. to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. What. What. What. What. What. What. What. What. What. What. What. What. What. What. What. What. What. What. What. What. What. What. What. What. What. What. What. What. I. I. I. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. their. their. their. I. I'm. their. I'm. I'm. their. their. their. So. So.they also look right into your soul. And halfway through this movie, I was like, this is why I don't like mascots. Yeah. Yeah. Plus they always seem like sex bests. Yeah, probably.
Starting point is 00:07:15 Cop in a feel. They're just bumping their dingus against you. Yeah. I like tough toughur. I like touch the pirate the pirate the pirate the pirate the pirate the pirate the pirate the pirate touch. I like touch. I like touch. I like touch. I like touch. I like tou. I like tou. I like tou. It's the only one I'll get close to. Because he shouldn't talk. What about the parogees? Did you ever touch the parogees? Uh, no. No. No.
Starting point is 00:07:30 No. No. They're not, you' to, like, to run the paroge races. You have to commit to working like 57 games and charity events. I was like, I'm not, fuck it, I won't be jalapeno then. Sourcrot, Saul, Oliver Onion, Cheese Chester. I can do on all night. Potato Pete, bacon, burp. There's like a ravioli one too, but I don't, I don't, I don't
Starting point is 00:08:05 don't cotton to that one. Yeah. That one's not, it's not a fucking paroge. Look, not all crimped, dough-based. You're not getting a dumpling out there. No, wanton, wanton, run. God, that's the ultimate Pittsburgh threaten. Our listeners outside of Pittsburgh are just asleep. I thi they love. Yeah. Yeah. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. It th. It th. It th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's not, it's not, it's not, it's not, it's th. It's th. It's that's that's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's the ultimate Pittsburgh phrase, isn't it? Wanton, Ron. Our listeners outside of Pittsburgh are just asleep. I think they love it. I think they love it. They love a deep dive. We're just, we're just talking about hanging on a walnut street in Shadyside. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:36 You never go down there? I like sushi too. Sure, yeah. Yeah, you used to go to China Palace when it was still open. Oh, rip. Yeah, good fake meats. Oh, yeah, I bet. Well, anyway. Anywho, so this cat gets the meat mask put on him,
Starting point is 00:08:56 and then, uh, there's a saw mask that turns his face into meat, I assume. Immediately, I was like, no way could my kid handle this? And then you get a video game open credits with like eight bit Chuck of Cheese characters. And also like old people shit, but I love both Mary Stewart Masterson and Matthew Lillard. I have such a crush on Mary Stewart Masterson from the film some kind of wonderful. Yeah, the one that makes you cry. That came out 2,000 years ago approximately where she's like the Puck rock drummer friend who really wants to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get it to get to get to get it the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the tuc. tuc. tuc. tuc. tuc. tuc. tuc. tuc. tuc. tuc. tuc. tuc. tuc. tuc. the the the the the the that makes you cry. That came out 2,000 years ago, approximately, where she's like, the Pug Rock drummer friend who really wants to get with the main guy, but he's got sights on Leah Thompson. Of course he does.
Starting point is 00:09:32 Yeah, yeah. Don't worry. Spoiler alert. they get together in the end. Oh, do they? Yeah. It's okay. So I was not familiar with the video game that upon which this is based. I'd never heard of it until this movie came. Me either. Apparently there are like nine of them or something. I'm not big in the video game. I know you're not. I'm gonna try to play one. I'm gonna try to get into it. I'll let you try to to to to to try to to to to to try to to get to to try try to get to get to get to get to get th th th to get to get to get to get to get to get to get the the the the the video. I to get to get the video. I the video. I to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get th. I'm if this would have made the movie make sense, having played the video.
Starting point is 00:10:05 I feel like the movie made sense. You didn't feel like it made sense? I can't tell if you're looking at me since earlier, sarcastically. No, no, I feel like the movie had like a linear storyline. Uh, what is Matthew Lillard's a deal? Is he kidnapping children, adults? He's just a free-for-all kidnapper? Yeah, he's a kid murderer. Well, why did he hurt? Why did he kidnap the security guard then? Oh, he was just killing him.
Starting point is 00:10:28 Well, but do you see what I'm saying? Yeah, yeah. All right, we'll get to it. Sometimes you just need to be a murder man. Remember? Yeah. Okay, all right. So, then we get, we, we, we, we, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. tha. tha. tha. th. tha get this dude who's waking up in his bed. Yeah. Who is from the Hunger Games?
Starting point is 00:10:47 Oh, is he now? Okay. I've never seen those. No, don't look at me like that. Battle Royale is so good. But you're such a J-law fan that I figured you would have gotten in there. Am I? I don't know. I don't think I am. You always talked about Wintersbone? That means something different to me.
Starting point is 00:11:07 So this guy is a dream theory book and a prescription bottle on his nightstand, so he's obscot mental problems. And a poster of what, Nebraska? Nebraska? Yeah. Jerk it off to Nebraska? Who doesn't? Such clean air? You ever been to Nebraska? I'm sure I've driven through it. Yeahto Nebraska. Who doesn't? Such clean air. You ever been to Nebraska? I'm sure I've driven through it. Yeah. I'm in Omaha. Omaha, baby! They have a chef boyardy statue. That's all. Why have you been to Omaha? Work. Okay. Yeah. But they had a great emo scene in the like 90s or 2000s. Yeah, I remember the emo band Omaha from Omaha. That's lame.
Starting point is 00:11:46 I like it. What if we were Pittsburgh? If we could get away with it, why not? I don't think we could. That's what I'm saying. Look at Asia. Wait. I assume it's a band made up of Asian people.
Starting point is 00:11:59 You know that's not true. You know it's a Prague Rock supergroup. What about Europe? Oh they were Europeans. All right. Boston where they hail from? I'm not sure Boston? Yeah. Really? Hondu? Tusha. Tusha. Okay so he's talking to this kid. You think- Get-Up Kids from Get Up Town? They were from Omaha weren't they? Somewhere out there. Oh yeah, Kansas. They're from Kansas. Yeah. The kid like ignoring you and the the the their. their. th. their. their. th. their. th. their. their. they. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're they're they're they're they're they're they're. they're they're. they're they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they were. they were. they were. they were. they were. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh, the the the th. th. th. th. the th. th. the the th. they're they're they're they're they're they're. they're. they're. they're yeah, Kansas, they're from Kansas. Yeah. The kid like ignoring you and then being like, OK, OK, when you repeat yourself makes me fucking nuts. This got my hackles up. Did you assume this was his daughter? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:33 I did. Yeah. Me, too. So we learned that he's a mall security man. Yes, he's eating lunch with his friend who never comes back, which disappointed me. Yeah, because they seem to have a good relationship. I feel like he must have just been hit the cutting room floor. Yeah. Other scenes, yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:50 Because also a Cow Ripken card, I don't think is actually worth $800. I just doubt that any baseball card is worth $800. I think I have baseball blindness because Jr. rookie card that he traded for mission control. It doesn't matter. Gotcha. It doesn't matter. So while he's talking about this, our protagonist Mike sees a kid looking around, he appears to be lost, and then a man sort of runs up to him quickly and storms away, dragging him kind of by the arm. Yeah. Not great. Yeah, but looking like a dad for all intents and purposes. The child was a bit of a chip off the old block, for sure.
Starting point is 00:13:33 Yeah. What does Mike do? Well, he thinks it's a child abduction, so he jumps the dad and starts beating him to death in a fountain. He sure does. No real consequences on that assault thing, huh? No, just lost his job, the end. They were like, you don't work here anymore and he was like, dope!
Starting point is 00:13:53 Do I work in prison now? Oh my god. And he's like full-on like, piston-fisting this man in the face. Yeah, it's brutal. It's brutal. Yeah. Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, th th th th th th th tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, th th tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, th th. And he. And he. And he. And he. And he. And he. And he. And he. And he. And he. And he. And he. And he. And he. And he. And he. And he. And he. And he. And he. And he. And he, and he, and he th th th th th th th th th th th thi. And he's thi. And he's th th th thi th th th th th thi th th th thi th th thi th thi. th in the face. Yeah, it's brutal. It's brutal. Yeah. Oh my God. So now he's got to go see a career counselor. Who is the career counselor?
Starting point is 00:14:12 It's my friend and yours, Matthew Lillard. And frankly, I just want to see Matthew Lillard be happy in this world. Sure. And he looks like he's having a great time in this movie. Surprisingly not chewing the fuck out of the scenery in this first scene. He is sedate in this scene. Yeah, I think it's because they told him you could do it later. So he's got a job for Mike if Mike wants it but it's night and Mike can't do nights. Yeah. Because he has a daughter sister in home. A daughter sister, yes this is his sister. Mm-hmm. And so when he goes to see Matthew Lillard, the career counselor, he says something about his, he like seems surprised at his last name.
Starting point is 00:14:52 Right, Matthew's like, well, what's your full name? Yeah. Your Mike Schmidt. I was like, oh, do you think he's related to the baseball player? And then I thought, do you just know, did you just know, that that that that that that that that the thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi th I thought, do you just, did you just know that that, like, by the end of the movie, I was like, did you just remember that kid's last name and also it was Schmidt and you just assume they were related? Yeah, okay.
Starting point is 00:15:10 You know how many Mike Schmitz I've met in my regular ass life? How many? A lot? Really? Yeah, including themittie. Yeah. Love a 70s Philly. So Matthew Willard, yeah, well, he has this sort of like, this deal of like, oh, it's just not that easy to get a job. And then he's like, I have a job for you.
Starting point is 00:15:34 Yeah. And you're like, this is sketchy. You shouldn't listen, but he's desperate. Katie. Katie, you think th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, they. the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th. th. th. thi, thi, thi, thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. was already setting up that somehow Matthew Lillard is part of a sketchy part of this whole thing. Uh, yes, but I forgot about him entirely. Probably because he's not chewing the scenery. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:52 Just looking handsome. It's really grown into being a very handsome gentleman. I always thought he was a very handsome gentleman. Because I saw a the just the right time in my life, yeah. I was like th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th thu probably thu probably thu thu thu thu thu thi probably thi probably the probably the probably the probably the probably theat the' the probably the probably because he's probably because the probably probably because the probably because probably because the probably the probably the probably the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the probably probably probably probably probably probably thi probably thi probably thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi the the theat theat theat theat th never saw that because I thought it was punk exploitation. Oh my god, are you serious? That's such a good soundtrack. I thought it was making fun of the punk scene,
Starting point is 00:16:10 which is I was a vibrant part of. I don't think it was. I don't think it was. I don't think it was. Okay. We'll watch it now. We can do it on the podcast. We can do anything we wanted this podcast. Look, we spent 10 minutes talking about the parokeys. We didn't explain what the parogees were. We just talked about them.
Starting point is 00:16:28 Yeah, they got Google. It's got Google. Look it up. Type of Pittsburgh Pirates Pirogies in your Google. You don't like them. Yeah, the little bit of a little lit lit lit lit lit lit lit lit lit lit lit lit lit lit lit lit lit lit lit lit lit lit, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you're, you, you're, you're, you, you're, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, th. Yeah, we get like lazier and lazier about this. Listen, this is the season where everything becomes mentally taxing. Dude, yes. Full disclosure, had to have my cat put to sleep the other day.
Starting point is 00:16:54 Sweet baby, angel. Sweet baby, total dickhead, and I loved him to death. He was a lovely cat. One time I will tell this story because it's a beautiful story. Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss Miss, I will tell the story because it's a beautiful story. Missy and I are fighting about which cat is pissing on stuff. And I'm like, it's not Jonesy, he's not doing it. It's Freya. Jonesy's never peed on anything. While we're having this argument, where we're getting a little heated going back and forth. I'm standing near the front door where the shoes are. Jonesy, behind me the tennis shoes and proceeds to piss, to piss, to piss, to piss, to piss, to piss, to piss, to th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, the the tho, their, they, their, the they, they, they, they, they, their their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, and I I's, and I I's, and I I I's, and I I I I I I I's, and I I I I I I I I I, the, th, th. And I'm my tennis shoes and proceeds to piss into my tennis shoes being like, actually dog, it's me, you're wrong.
Starting point is 00:17:29 Well, he was just trying to tell you he had a kidney thing. It's true. And you weren't listening, you were like, no, he's fine. He's my sweet baby angel, he would never do anything wrong. He lived a good long life. Yeah, man, we figured out he was 18 years old. Damn. Yeah, could have voted. Could have voted.
Starting point is 00:17:50 Yeah, did he though? I mean, like, I wish he would do his duty. Voted to shed this mortal coil. He sure did, though. That's his right. Miss him like crazy. Hug your cats for me. So we get a flashback. Yes. Of little Mike with his loving family at a campground. Yeah. And we see a flashback of his little brother being
Starting point is 00:18:12 kidnapped. Of his parents telling him to watch his little brother while his mom claims up Coca-Cola at a campground. Just let that hit the floor. Who gives a shit? Yeah. What are you going to do? mop the dirt? What are you doing? And then dad that hit the floor. Who gives us shit? Yeah. What are you gonna do? Mop the dirt? What are you doing? And then dad is cooking on the Coleman grill, which I really appreciate it. But also it seems like by the time he stands up, this has already happened.
Starting point is 00:18:33 Yes. It wasn't really his fault. I mean, it he was a child. A child. And this is all in a dream, like we realize that it's all in a dream that he's having. Yes, we get a lot of hints that he's very tired and sleeps a lot. Yeah. And he's very pale and unshaven.
Starting point is 00:18:57 Tragic. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Very tragic-Tragic-Tragic-Trag Mary Stewart Masterson. She's so funny. She's so great. Why isn't she in more things? I don't know. Yeah. Is she in more things and maybe we just don't see them? Maybe. Maybe. Yeah. She looks exactly the fucking same as she did in the 80s. She sure does. Yeah. She is trying to get custody of Abby, the little sister. Yeah, and that's when I I I I th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. tr. to tre. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. th. to get custody of Abby, the little sister. Yeah, and that's when I have the note, oh, it's a sister. Yeah, yeah. She's saying that like, it's not normal to draw pictures, have imaginary friends and enjoy magical creatures, and I was like, Aunt Jane, how fucking dare you? I love that Aunt Jane's lawyer is this like,
Starting point is 00:19:41 Doug. Who is just like a deer in headlights the entire time that he's around her and we're like so we just go with like Aunt Jane being the naggiest nag that's ever nagged like she's like a Disney evil villain aunt level like just character. Snapping it poor old Doug. Again why I think this might be a good movie for children. You're right it has Disney vibes. Yeah there's today today's today the the the the ki ki ki ki ki ki ki ki ki their ki ki their their their ki their their their ki this might be a good movie for children. You're right, it has Disney vibes.
Starting point is 00:20:07 Yeah, there's today to kid death and kid in Disney movies, aren't there? Name one. Uh, immediately Bambi's mother came to mine, but that was an adult. She's an adult. Oh, oh, a parent always dies. Yeah. We can't let these kids think they're not immortal. It's true. It's true. None of the like Huey Dewey or Louis, they don't pass away any play. It's during duck season.
Starting point is 00:20:32 Uncle Scrooge's neglect. Yeah, ay. Can I ask a question about this movie? Sure. When is it set? Yes. Okay. Amorphous time. Feels like the 90s, doesn't it? It does, but they keep saying in the 80s, which wasn't that long ago, you know?
Starting point is 00:20:53 But I feel like the one time we see a cell phone, it's a flip phone? Yeah, the one guy has a flip phone and Max the babysitter has like a brick, Nokia. Yeah, but I feel like it's supposed to be set in like a no time. I guess so. Yeah. Yeah, that's the vibe. It stresses me out. Because the cars aren't modern cars. But they're also not old that old tiny. They're just like a little boxy. Yeah. So sometimes. This movie happens sometime. I don't like that, I have to say. Okay. I want to know when. You want a period piece. A cultural a cultural a cultural a cultural a cultural cultural cultural cultural cultural cultural cultural cultural cultural cultural cultural cultural cultural cultural cultural cultural cultural. Yeah. A cultural. A cultural. A cultural. A cultural. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I like a cultural. I like a cultural. I like a cultural. I like a cultural. I. I like. I. I like a cultural. I like a cultural. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. cultural context. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It is a movie about possessed animatronics. And child death, two things which are very disparate. But very 80s. So yeah, so Aunt Jane's plan is to get Abby away. And Mike, who is the brother, realizes that he has to get his shit together. He's got to get a job so it looks good on paper.
Starting point is 00:21:51 Because there's like, there's all these very supportive people in his life, like his co-worker that we never see again. And the woman that works at the school with Abby, who's very supportive. We see her at the end, because she's like, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th, th, th, th, th. th. th. th. th. th. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to thi. to thi. thi at the end because she's like, whatever you're doing, you're doing a great job. And I was like, man, you're a great fucking teacher. You know, I'm just telling me that she keeps robbing her buggers under the desk or whatever. Oh, weird things kids are doing. Yeah. So he calls Lillard back and he's like, I want that job. And he ends up as a security guard at a pizza place that is Charles Cheddar.
Starting point is 00:22:28 It's Chucky Cheese basically. But Matthew Little is like, okay, yeah, you should take that job. Let me give you some back story. Yeah. Which is just exposition about why it has not been torn down. Like some investor bought it but doesn't want to do anything with it. The original owner, I thought he said. Oh, was it the original owner?
Starting point is 00:22:46 He said he was sentimental about it. Gotcha. Bump-bom-b- So yes, he goes to work for Charles Cheese. Mm-hmm. I would think he would remember it then, you know? That's weird. So when he gets there, he's like, their, he's, th, their, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, like, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thin, like, like, like, like, thin, thin, thin, th, thin, thin, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi, thin, like, thin, like, like, like, like, like, like, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, th thin, to-s. thin, thin, to-s. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi.'s like looking at these monitors and sees a video cassette with his name written on it.
Starting point is 00:23:08 Yes. Oh, it's also dingy as fucking there. And he has to turn on Al all the power which lights the sign out front. Why would you do that? And also there's an old thank you trash can that is one hundo from a burger king of that era. I like can see it in my brain. Wow. You remember the Burger King trash cans? Yeah, it was at eye level. You know what I mean? Sure. Yeah. I didn't have a neck as a child. It was very sad. Just head to shoulders. Listen old trash neck Katie.
Starting point is 00:23:41 She was staring at trash cans. Why are you looking at my dick? I swear to you I'm not. Sir, I thought you were a Wendy's. I would do so many fucking crossword puzzles at this job. I want this job so badly. Yeah, like the amount of books that I would get through. Listen to podcasts. So he watches the video that's like, hey, you're a security guard at, what is it like, Freddy Fasbender? Bears, Paz Bears, not Michael Fastbenders, and his penis.
Starting point is 00:24:14 Sometimes that I told you to Google it and you did it on the podcast, I'm like, we're just kind of done for a while. You know, sometimes I need to check out too. Sometimes I need a little brain break for Michael Fastbender's penis. I thought the security training video is really funny. Yeah, but it felt very 80s as well. Yeah. This is where I realize I don't like mascots. Sure. And the lady who's doing the tape training is like, here let me show you what the animatronics look like and then they go, wow, wow, and the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the tap's. And tap's. And tap's tapes. T tapes' is all's tapes all's tapes. tapes all's tapes all's tapes all's tapes tapes tapes tapes. tapes. tapes. tapes. tapes. tapes. tapes. tapes. tapes. tap is tap is tap is tap is tap is tap is tap's. tap's. tap's. tap's. tapes. T. T. T. T. T. T. T. Ta's tapes tapes all tapes all tapes all tapes all tapes all tapes all tapes all tapes are tapes all tap then they go, wow, wow, wow, and the tapes all fucked up. Yeah, God. So he goes on a walk just to check out the, the, the room, see what's going on. I swear I can smell it.
Starting point is 00:24:55 It's like this smell of plastic, like plastic, like plastic material. Yeah, and kid piss. the thi, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. tap, th. th. tap, tap. tap. tape, tape, tape, the the tape, the the tape, tape, tape, the tape, the tape, the the the the the tape, the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the tap. And, tap. And, tap. And, tap. And, tap. And, tape. And, tape. And, tape. And, tape. And, tape. And, tape. And, tape's, tape's, tape's, tape's, tape's, tape's, tape's, tape's, tape's, tape's, tap. Kid, no, like dirty socks and shitty pizza all put into a pot. That cheese that gets on your upper lip, it just smells like vomit. It's like every time you walk by Grazianos on Penn Avenue, you know what I'm talking about? Take that Grazionos. Grazianos is good for one thing and one thing only, and that is 40s. Ah, I see. That's my hot take on Grazianos. Interesting. You like Grazianos. Is that the one that's across the street from Brillo Box?
Starting point is 00:25:29 Yeah. Yeah, I've never had their pizza now. Because it smells like vomit. Even when you get a 40 from there, your 40 smells like vomit. Like, what are you doing? Your 40 has been pre-puked on for your pleasure. I mean, I'm going to do to do to do to do it, thanks for doing it first. I'm gonna do it in 40 hands. Yeah, oh yeah, they're cheapish there. Sure.
Starting point is 00:25:50 So what does he do while he's working at his job? Takes a nap. Yeah, takes a nap with his video or his tape deck of nature noises and his, uh, take some pills before he takes his nap so he can go and visit his brother. Yeah. What's in his dream his the d d d d d' the d' the d' the d' their their their their their their their their their their their their their their th. Yeah, th. Oh, th. Oh, the. Oh, the. Oh, they're they're they. Yeah, they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're. They're. They're. They're. They're. They're. They're. They're. They're. They're. They're. They're. They're. They're. They're. They's. They's. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. t. tape. the the the the the the the the the the the the the tape. the the tap before he takes his nap so he can go and visit his brother. Yeah. What's in his dream? What's in his dream, Katie? He's having the flashback dream again, but now there are kids behind him.
Starting point is 00:26:12 They're not speaking and then they run away. And immediately we think this has nothing to do with the place that he is in. No. We're immediately like these kids are not going to come back back back back back back back back back back back back back back back back back back back back back back back back back back back back. their th again. to come. to come. to come. to come. to come. to come. these kids are not going to come back. No. This is just a weird aberration in the movie. Some coincidence. Yeah. Coincidence, psychic phenomena? You decide. Then he looks at his watch and he's wearing a Cassio watch and I thought, well, what fucking
Starting point is 00:26:34 year is it? Furiates me. So we get back to his house and Max has been watching Abby, the babysitter, Max. And you're like, oh, she's so cute. And then the next scene she's sitting at a table with Aunt Jane in a diner because she was hired by Jane. Yeah, yeah. And she's got a chubby brother, and you know that can only mean one thing.
Starting point is 00:26:58 Trouble. He's a bad man. Okay. Doug is also at the table. Love Doug. Doug is just, what a weird character choice. Just to be like, Doug, you're terrified. You're terrified of everything around you at all time. I mean, they just wrote him into this movie. I don't know why, but they did. Sir, do you mind sitting down at this table and being a lawyer? What? But way through the conversation about how these people have been hired by Jane to get some dirt on Mike to prove that he's endangering Abby. Doug stands up and is like, I shouldn't be part of this conversation, and Jane just shoves him down. Sit down, Doug. And the chubby brother says, why don't we just kill him and Doug just stands up again fucking love you Doug
Starting point is 00:27:48 Also those booths and those tables are not easy to just stand up like that well done Doug. Yeah, he's a limber Yeah, yeah, also Abby draws a lot of pictures and talks about her friends who are imaginary But this confused me too because like why did how did she know about them before? Going to???? to to thi. to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to th. th. th. th. F. th. F. to th. F. to to to to to to to to th. F. F. F. to to to to to to to to to to to to to the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the to the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the fucking. F. F. F. F. F. F. tou. I. I. I tou. I tou. I tou. I tou. I toooooooooo. too. to. I. I to. I to. I to. I t imaginary. But this confused me too, because like, why did, how did she know about them before going to Freddy's? Well, I assume she has a psychic link to them because her brother was abducted. But Mike doesn't. Yeah, but she was born after. Yeah, but she was in the same womb as the younger as the middle brother. I mean, that was one of those things that I said I said I said I said I said I said I said I said I said I said I said I said I said I said I said I said I said I said I said I said I said, I said, I said, I said, that was one of those things that I said with maximum confidence. You were like, oh, okay. Yeah, I mean, I thought, well, okay, so she was in the same womb as the younger as the
Starting point is 00:28:28 middle brother because, you know. She was in there more recently. Yeah, she was in there more recently. And she, you know, he had been there. Yeah, maybe he left to know when I'm about five. Garrett was here, oh and. Whatever moms think their kids are kicking, they're just leaving notes for the next child. No. Weird. I remember towards the end of my pregnancy being like real fucked up about the fact that there was a full-size naked human inside me. I remember telling you this and you were like, would you like her to be wearing clothes?
Starting point is 00:29:04 So not full-sized. I mean, a full-sized human? I remember telling you this and you were like, would you like her to be wearing clothes? So not full-sized. I mean, a full-sized human. Yeah, fun-sized. Well, yeah. It's not like I dropped out of you. Oh, God. I literally just like did the hardest kegle of my whole life.
Starting point is 00:29:21 All right, so Mike's dreaming again. Of course he is. And the kids are back. Max and her, Max's brother is said, okay, since we're not going to kill him, I'm just going to go mess the place up real good so he gets fired. That's right. That's right.
Starting point is 00:29:34 That's right. Yeah, so Mike is back dreaming at his job. Dream, he should be fired. Yeah, no, he's a terrible employee. He's a terrible employee. Like, I think he's supposed to have a character arc, but he doesn't. He goes from being a terrible employee to a terrible employee. Yeah, and in between there, he's kind of a shit brother. Yeah. So he's dreaming again. And the kids are back, but one of them like slashes him? Slashes his arm. He chases, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. the the th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. Yeah. the th. th. Yeah. th. th. the th. Yeah. th. Yeah. th. th. Yeah. the th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. Yeah. th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.. Yeah... He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the th. the th. the the the the the the arm. After he chases them. He chases them, right? Yeah, yeah, and he gets slashed by them. And then when he looks at the kid he's got blood coming out of his eyes and he's screaming? Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 00:30:12 Yeah, it's very, very, feels a little bloom-housey into me. Yeah, I was like, mm-hmm. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Real. I mean at this point it's still giving like I'm getting are you afraid of the dark vibes from this. Which scared the piss out of me when I was like 10 to 12? No younger than that. What does that show on? I don't know either. I just remember they were they were books. I they were books they were books they were books they were books they were books they were books. I they were books. I they were books. I they were books. I they were books. I they were books. I they were books. I they were the they were the their they were their they were their they their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their. I'm their. I'm their. I'm their. I'm their. Are. Are. Are. Are. Are. Are their. Are their. Are their. Are th. Are th. Are th. Are th. Are th. Are th. Are th. Are th. Are th. Are th. Are th. Are th. Are th. Are their. Or no, I'm thinking of scary stories to tell in the dark. Yeah. Are you afraid of the dark was like a kids show? It was on Nickelodeon Snick, Saturday Night Nickelodeon.
Starting point is 00:30:52 Yeah, with a roundhouse. Sorry, I was out having a job at that point. Sorry you were working on your pension. I had a mortgage and a family to take care of. Sorry I was once a child. Not me, I grew up in Delaware. In the 70s. So these kids are clearly the kids from Abby's drawings, but we're not going to acknowledge that for a while. Yeah. It takes dumb Mike forever to fucco figure this shit out. I mean I guess he's, he's got a lot of trauma about his brother and he's not sleeping well. And he's sort of inflicting the trauma on himself purposefully night after night by trying
Starting point is 00:31:34 to dream about it. Yeah, and we're about to learn why. Mm-hmm. Because when he wakes up, there, there's a knocking at the door door door door door door door door door door door th door th door tho tho tho th door tho th at the door. Yeah. Who's knocking at the door? A pretty lady cop. Yeah, hot officer Vanessa. Yeah, hot officer Vanessa. Vanessa Shelly's Frankenstein. Yeah. Vanessa is a hell of a name. Vanessa. Vanessa's a hell of a name. Vanessa. Vanessa. Yeah. It's a lot, it's like a lot, but it's good. Yeah. Vanessa. turn up of a name. Vanessa. Yeah. It's a lot, but it's good.
Starting point is 00:32:06 Yeah. Turn up there with Rebecca. Rebecca. Rebecca's just somehow more common though. That's biblical. Vanessa, she sounds exotic, Vanessa. Wow, I've never thought of Vanessa is sounding exotic. No. Have you ever known a goddemeanessa?
Starting point is 00:32:24 It's because you were born in the 70s, move on. I can't wait to talk about next week's movie where you just asked me all these questions about the stuff that was happening when I was three. Is that what it was like? Then you get to apologize for being a child. So his hand is actually bleeding in real life. Yeah. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I'm th. I'm to to to to to to to to to to to to to to toeeea. I'm to to toea. I'm to to thea. I'm the. I yeah, he's been cut by this kid, IRL. Yes, and she knows where they keep the first aid kit, which is like, Bump, bomb, What? You were, she just comes here a lot, she says.
Starting point is 00:32:56 Yeah. He says, it's been a weird night. She says, sounds like Freddy's, This place, it gets to people. Yeah. Meanwhile, I was just looking at the claw machine in the background being like, I'd play that constantly if I worked there. Felt the same way about asteroids.
Starting point is 00:33:14 Yeah. When they come in and bust up those pinball machines, I was like, you go fuck yourself for the rest of your life. Just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, the the the their, their, their, their, their, their, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, th. their, thu. their, they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. the they. their, bunch of stuff that's not going to get fixed. You just dicks. Steal those pinball machines and give them another life. Exactly. They deserve to be kidnapped as well. She said something to him about the kids going missing, which I felt was like a weird tell that she didn't need to do. Yeah. Yeah. At least she wants to get caught. What is her job? Well, let's come back to it. Yeah, because her father spells out her job for her.
Starting point is 00:33:49 Well, that's two jobs, but I don't recall what they were. So she takes him to meet the animatronics. No way would they still run, right? Although it's, who knows what it could be three years later? It could be 1987. We have no idea. We have no idea. It's very frustrating. I guess it wouldn't be with cell phones,
Starting point is 00:34:09 but you get my drift. So they're in the birthday party room, and the band is out. Looking very much like the Chucky G's band? Were you very let down that the drummer? I. to those bands. Yeah, yeah, I think so. Yeah, I was bummed. They're awesome. Think about how many kids you could cram into that drum set. It's true, it's a great place to hide a child. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:32 A child's body anyway. Not that I've thought about it. No, God, no. You would never. It's a weird song to play at a kid's tha tha to play to play to play to play tha Yeah. I hear the secrets that you keep. Bo-doom. When you're talking in your sleep. We're just a lot of musical numbers this this week. I like it. That song is a bop. It's a bop. Yeah, yeah. But it would be weird to hear that at your children's birthday. Yeah, yeah. But again, like they're saying, those very 80s, right? You know, what are we going to do, Uptown Girl? Oh, I hate that song. Really? Controversial opinion. Yeah, not a controversial. Nobody likes Billy Joel. Thank God. Well, you said really, with such a, such a, like, I mean, like, I'm, I feel the same way about William Joel that I feel about like the Beatles or or you know any of that stuff that's just like it's
Starting point is 00:35:30 just background music like I don't have any opinion on it's fine there's so many Beatles fans right now who are just penning you a letter it's fine go about your enjoy what you like it's not for me it's fine okay no I'm not saying that to you I'm saying the penners I was the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. I was th. I was th. I was th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm thi. I'm th thi. I'm the th the thi. I'm just. I'm just. I'm just. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I. I's. I'm. I's. I's. I's. I's. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the th. th. th. th. the th. th. th. the th. the th. not saying that to you, I'm saying to the penners. I wasn't, yeah, I was thinking I wasn't defending these people. Also Billy Joel sucks. See, I think that is a misnomer. I know. But like the whole thing with like the front road tickets, do his concerts because he's afraid he'll see a teenage girl and try to marry her okay go on so he had so many like rich assholes that
Starting point is 00:36:09 were buying front rows and not enjoying the show just being there because I could spend a lot of money and be there that what he does is goes to has people go out to the back of the crowd and be like you have front the front and so like people who are stoked to see him to to to to to the to to the the to the to the to the to the the to the the the to to the the to the the to the to the to to the to to to to to to to to to to to to the the the to to to to to to to to to their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the. I. tre. tre. tre. tre. tre. tre. tre. tre. tre. tre. true. true. true. true. treto see him get to go off front. All right. It's pretty cool. That's pretty cool, but I don't really like the piano that much. What about the piano man? Huh? Huh? That's a bop. You know what I do kind of like is we didn't start the fire? I wish that you'd written more verses for more recent events. Do I have a treat for you because your friends in Fallout boy have back and rewritten that song? Are you serious? Oh do you not know about them? No! No! Fallout Boy has written a new version of We Didn't Start the Fire. No they didn't. That picks up after William Joel's song. Peter Wentz, no. Dr. Wents. Dr. Peter. And the driver from race trader have gotten back together and they're like, you the the the the the the th. the th. th. the th. the th. th. th. th. the th. th. tho. tho. the tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. thololo. Fall. Fall. the have gotten back together and they're like you know what we're doing this we're writing a new we didn't start the fire that's supposed to be everything from 89 or whatever that fucking yeah early early 90s
Starting point is 00:37:12 to now wow and I don't think it mentions the twin towers that cannot possibly be okay I will listen to it as soon as this episode also everyone could have guessed this it's bad no no no no no no no no the th you th you th you th you th you th you th you th you th you th you th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th the the the the that the the the the the the th. th. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the the the the th. th th th th th. th th th th th th th th th th. th. th. Why don't you let them listen to it and decide for themselves. Because Peter Wents is involved, the man who gave you guyliner is involved. Yeah. So Vanessa goes over to the ticket to the prize area. Yeah, pulls out the 1,000 ticket bin and gives him a badge. She she she she she she she she th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Yes................................................... right where it was. Yeah she did. She's been there a lot. And she's also down to fuck. She's hot to try.
Starting point is 00:37:50 She's giving you that vibe? She's vibing on him. He looks cutey. So tired. Yeah, he's a patoot. You know what I like about him he has no lips. I think that's very interesting. Yeah, you know what I like like like like like like like like like that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that I like that that that I like. that I like that I like that that that I like that that that that that that that that that's like like that's like that's like that I like that's like. that's like. that's like. that's like. that's like. that's a that's. that's. I like. I like that's. I like that that that the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. I th. th. th. th. th. that I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I that's. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I think that's very interesting. Yeah, you're not allowed to have lips if you were in the Hunger Games. Is that true? Yeah. Mm-hmm. Look at that, Jennifer Lawrence, to get that plastic surgery to give herself lips. Mm-hmm. Guys, stop putting shit in your lips, just let them be. Yeah. They're meant to be the size they're meant to be.
Starting point is 00:38:14 their the the their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their thi their their their thi they's they's they's they's they's they's to to to to to to to to to to to a letter about the Beatles. No, please don't write him a letter about the Beatles. Actually write me a letter, that's fine. Max's brother. Yeah, and his gang. Mm-hmm. Max's brother looks 17. 20, maybe. Yeah, 20. Okay, 20. Max's brother's friends are like 35 and 40 years old.
Starting point is 00:38:45 No, Hank is 52 at the lowest. Like, what is his deal? He needs a new gig. This is not working for him anymore, going and busting and busting up the Freddy's. I don't know. He's like, yeah, I'll show up and wreck some pinball machines. Fuck yeah, man. I always hate the slapin and slapping and slapping.
Starting point is 00:39:04 I hate that shit, man. I gotta hit them buttons on the side, make it go flabbity, flabbity, I hate it. I like to go flabbity, but I never understand how you scoredough. It's like, oh, I don't know. Yeah, the strategy is when the ball comes. Hit the thing real fast. Bobbbub, bobbbub. My quarters are gone. There you go. So the squirrely dude that's with him goes into the kitchen and he's smashing stuff up lightly.
Starting point is 00:39:32 He knocks over like a rack full of folded pizza boxes. All right, my dude. And then he hears a rattle in the freezer, fridge. He sure sure thuuuuuuu-a th is the thu-a thu-a thu-a-a-a-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-s. thu. th-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-s. th. th. tho-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-s. So. So. So. So, th. So, th. So, th. So, th. So, th. So, th. So, th. So, th. So, th. So, th. So, th. So, thii-s. So-s. So-s. So-s. So-s. So-s. So-s. So-s. So-s. theeeaseea-seaseaseea-s. Somea-s. Somea-s. Somea-s. So-s. So-s. Sooer. So or whatever. He sure does. What's he find in that fridge? Any animatronic cupcake? The anemotronic cupcake? Yeah, yep. The least threatening thing ever? It is cute but its eyes are menacing somehow. It looks like something Justin Gray might include in the background on one of our t-shirts. Absolutely it does. Yeah, Yeah, we're sure. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:06 I think the puppeteering work, and this is fantastic. Sure. Yeah. Yeah. He gets distracted by like a rack of pans rattling together, and I thought, what are they making here in pans? Just fried eggs for these kids. Sauting some kale.
Starting point is 00:40:27 These kids love shallots on their shit-ass pizza. When he turns back around, the animatronic is gone. Yeah, yeah. And he's like, whoa, what's going to happen? And then the horror bird wearing a bib that says let's eat is suddenly standing behind him holding it. You mean the nightmare chicken? Nightmare chicken? Absolutely. I think it looks fantastic. Yeah, his name is Chika. We learned later. I love the design of these. It just lunges at the, um, the cupcake lunges off the bird's hand. Hand? Wing? It's got a hand I think. I think it's a hand. Yeah, because that bird's like's like is like's like's like's like's like's like's like's like's like's like's like's like's like's like it's like it's like it's like it's like it's like the bird's like the bird's like the bird's like the bird's like the bird's like the bird's like the bird's like the bird's like the bird's like the bird's like the bird's like the bird's like their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the off the bird's hand. Hand? Wing? It's got a hand, I think. It's a hand, yeah, because that bird's like playing bass later.
Starting point is 00:41:07 Yeah, the bird is playing bass later. You can't just do a slap with your wing. And then the horror bird turns to look at the old man, which is just very menausing. The old man, do you mean the old man who's hanging out with these teens to go and smash stuff? Yeah. Yeah. He's hiding in a closet or a store room or something. Yeah. And then the fox is in there with him.
Starting point is 00:41:37 The pirate fox with the claw for hand. What? Oh, can I tell you a joke? Lucy told me the other day? Yeah, please. What did the pirates say at his 80th birthday party? Hmm. What do they say? I'm Maty. And that's what I thought of when I saw this fox. Katie.
Starting point is 00:41:54 Alan. How much does a pirate charge for an ear of corn? How much? It's a bucket of ear? Hey, what's a pirate's favorite letter? Uh, I have no idea. When don't you guess? P for pirate. Ah, you'd think it'd be R, but his first love is the C. Do you hear about that new pirate movie that's going on?
Starting point is 00:42:18 What is it? It's rated R. Wow. The end of the year, babies, we've got senioritis. We're not taking a vacation or anything. We just don't give a shit this week. Suck it! Yeah, Alan did the, um, degeneration X.
Starting point is 00:42:39 Okay, so the fox is going around, the bunny, no it's not a bunny, the fox is going around, the bird is going around, and I'm just like loving every second of this. They're just murdering now, it's fun murders. Yeah, and it's like all off screen, you don't see anything happening. You're right, it is all off screen, is it? Yeah, I think even when we see there's a beheading that happens where the bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear bear. the bear. the bear. the bear the bear. the bear. the bear. the bear. that happens where the bear bites somebody's head bites Max's head off. Yeah, right. And that's done in shadow play. Right. Max's brother tries to pick up the phone but they're when he picks it up it's just kids laughing. Yeah. That was a really nice touch. Spooky little kids. Yeah. And this is where I have a note that goes, have the kids spirits possess the animatronic.
Starting point is 00:43:26 Did you figure it out already? I did. Note 63, I figured it how. I mean, it's just that they're like looking into the camera and doing a little play for Max's brother. And like, animatronics don't understand security cameras and seemingly ventilation systems because that cupcake is in the vent. No. Katie, can I read, Henry Henry Henry Henry Henry Henry Henry Henry Henry Henry Henry Henry Henry Henry, thiiiiii, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th. th. th. th. thi, thi, thi, th. th. th. th. th. tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, th. Starting point is 00:43:46 Fuck yeah, Henry Kissinger died. Yes. So excited. Rest in PS. Yes. Just pools of piss. Pools of piss. Thank you for all the genocides.
Starting point is 00:43:58 Yeah, I mean, I don't like celebrating people's death. No, sometimes you just get your bad badass down on their grave and just... Google his ties to Peniche or what happened in East Timor, or the fact that the Vietnam War went on for years because he wanted to get Nixon elected. Fuck that, dude. Yeah, worse dude. Yeah, that's why I got to live to be a hundred. May he rot. Because evil never dies. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the th. th. th. the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. the the the the th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. the th. th.. Yeah, that's why I got to live to be a hundred. May he rot. Because Evil never dies. Oh shit, just like at the end of a... fuck what do we just do or evil never dies? What was last week's movie? Talk to me? Yeah, evil never dies. No wait, it wasn't talk to me. It was the end of Carmichael Manor.
Starting point is 00:44:46 Oh yeah. Yeah. Which I feel like maybe if you played this video game all of this would feel to you the way that Hell House movie fell to us because we're just so in love with the source material. But for some of this I was like, what are you talking about, you know? But being a Chuckie Cheeseie's officionado wasn't enough to get you on board with this? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:45:08 I feel like, there's not a lot of dead children at the Chuckie Cheese when you were there. Just at the bottom of the ball pit. God, I was scared of ballpits too. Yeah, they really were. And I was a small child. I like loved a big slide but hated the ball pit. Oh man, so that's a terrible. Terrible. Terrible. Just terrible. So there's a small child making Max chase him because Max has shown up. A little boy. Mm-hmm. And he, she chases him into the animatronic room and he's saying, warmer, warmer.
Starting point is 00:45:46 So she gets on a chair to look in the fox's mouth. Yeah, and that's when he bites her head off. Gotcha. Yeah. Ay, ay. Ay, ay. So now we get Vanessa coming to Mike's house. This is after Abby finds the court papers where Aunt Jane is trying to take her
Starting point is 00:46:06 Oh, okay. Yeah, to get custody of her. Yeah, she says I hate you Mike. Well, she's he's no Does she? That's not till she. Oh, okay. I thought she was mad at him for the court papers. No, she's just upset because he's like I'm not, he tells her at that point that he's not gonna, oh, but she says that Aunt Jane is mean and smells like cigarettes and I was like, oh no, it's me. Oh no, it's half the people I work with. I don't smell like cigarettes. Vanessa shows up just to tell him that someone broke into Freddy's and found his sleeping bills. Uh-huh. Yeah. And that he's gonna be in trouble if she doesn't cover this up so he better have to have to have to have to have to have to have to to to to to to be to be to be to be to. to. the to. I. to be. the to be. their. th. th. I. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. I's thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. their. their. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. And. And. And. And. And. And. And. And. And. And. And. And. And. And. And. And. And. And. And. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And. And, th. And. And. And. And. And, th. And. And. And, th. And. And. And. And, th. And. And. And. And. And. And. Yeah. And that he's going to be in trouble if she doesn't cover this up so he better have a good excuse. Let's go down to the sewage ditch and talk about it.
Starting point is 00:46:51 Yes, let's go to the sewage ditch and leave the child alone. He has a theory or has researched a theory that we don't forget anything. That everything is still somewhere stored in our brain. That is so not true. I don't believe that for a second. I have lost whole years. I really have. I spent 45 minutes trying to figure out where I put a book the other day. Do you think I should have just taken a nap to see my dream theories would have thrown it back at me? I thought my car was stolen because I couldn't remember where I that for that for that for that for that for that for that for that for that for that for that for that for that for that for that for that for that for a that for a that for a that for a that for a that for a that for a that for a that for a that for a that for a that for a that for a that for a that for a that for a that for a that for a that for a that for a that for a that for a that for a that for a that for a that for a that for a that for a that for a that for a that for a that for a that for a that for a that for a that for a that for a that for a that for a that for a that for a that for a that for a that for a that for a that for a the the they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. that. that. that. that. that. that. the. therying to figure out where I put a book the other day. Do you think I should have just taken a nap to see my dream theories would have thrown at me? I thought my car was stolen because I couldn't remember where I parked it. Who would steal my car? High demand.
Starting point is 00:47:33 Hi demand. You know what's a hot, hot rod these days? 2011. Oh, I really want get it to 20. I really want that classic car vanity plate. I'm getting there. Would you get it like Rolla for the plane? Tell me I won't. So he kind of gives her the backstory of his brother getting kidnapped and then I guess
Starting point is 00:48:07 they his parents had another child they had Abbey. Yeah. Which seems kind of like a wild thing to do but okay. Is she like one of those like this will save our marriage kids? I don't know. But it sounded like they stayed together because the mom died and the dad couldn't stand it. And so he killed himself I assume he just left them, he abandoned them, that was my life that I got from it. And somehow Vanessa turns
Starting point is 00:48:33 this into a thing like, well from where I'm sitting you're lucky because you have Abby. And like I hate when people say you're lucky even though terrible things have happened to you. Like that's not thuuuuuu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi tho tho thi. I thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi hea hea hea hea hea hea hea hea hea hea hea hea hea hea hea hea hea hea he hea he he he he he thu thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi to thooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo he he he thethings have happened to you. Like that's not luck. Being born Paris Hilton is luck, you know? 100% having three-fifths of your family dead or missing, not luck. You know that lifelong trauma that has just ruined everything for you if you're so lucky. So lucky. But it is like on some levels like yeah but like you've been through all this but dog you're trying to raise this kid so like yeah maybe maybe go to a therapist and then yeah focus on this kid but he is a young man presumably. I can't figure out his age either like is he because I think the actors in his 30s probably but he couldn't really realistically be more than like 23, right? For the for the movie? For the movie, yeah. Just based on childbearing years of his mother. You know what I'm saying? Sure. Yeah. When was she fertile? Let's get a chart.
Starting point is 00:49:38 Well, based on her age when he, the Garrett disappears and the flashbacks and whatever, doesn't matter. So he takes Abby and whatever, doesn't matter. So he takes Abby to work because Max is missing. Right, and he can't just leave her at home. And so she's building a fort and she says, it's like camping and he's like, oh, how dare you say camping? And then he fucking goes to sleep with his headphones on while Abby is there. Yeah, that seems like the responsible thing to do. What a piece of shit. Maybe Aunt Jane should take her.
Starting point is 00:50:05 Well, doesn't he do the cleanup montage before that? He does. He does a lot of cleaning. Yeah, he does a great job. It looks really nice on there. I assume that's because they forgot timeline-wise when the destruction of the place was supposed to happen and everything else later. And they're like, I just feel feel like th th th th like th like he th like he th like he th like he th like he th like he th like he th like he th like he th like he th like he could feel like he could feel like he could th like he could th like he could th like th like th like th like th like th like th like thi thi thi thi thi th and they're like, cleaning montage? Yeah. I just feel like he could take one night off of his dreaming expeditions to make sure his little sister doesn't wander into this place that has like a bunch of weird metal if nothing else. So the ghost boy comes and gets Abby. Yeah, he whispers Abby.
Starting point is 00:50:44 And she's like, Mike, I'll be right back. Yes. She's cute as a button. She's cute as a button. Yeah. And she sees these eyes laid up in the darkness and I think it's very good. And then he wakes up to her screaming. Yes. And she's like blood-curdlingly screaming. Well, first he's having the dream where he's talking to the kid, the kid, like you're the kids the kids the kids the kids the kids the kids the kids the kids the kids the kids the kids the kids the kids the kids their their their their their their their their their their. their. their. their. their. their. their. She's their. She's, their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. I. I. their. I. I. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. their. the dream where he's talking to the kid, like you're the kids who disappeared, you know what happened to Garrett, and the kid says, if you show, if we show you, what will you give us? And then the, she starts screaming that wakes him up, but the child is drawn like a rabbit in the dirt, which I thought was the fox because they have the same ears. Or the other other other other other other other other other other other other other other other other other other other other other other other other other other other other other b. the other. the other. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the.... Hea. Hea. Hea. He's. He's. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. the. I. I. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the was the fox because they have the same ears. Or the other bunny that's already been there. But there has, we have seen pictures of this yellow bunny.
Starting point is 00:51:31 Right, in Abby's drawings, right? Yeah. Or are they in the drawings in the restaurant? Okay. Yeah. But yeah, he wakes up to Abby screaming and she's befriended the animatronics and they're tickling her. Yes, and I love how Freddy, how his face changes, like the from angry to like accepting? I like it. Yeah, the brows go calming. Yeah, it's nice. They're called Bonnie, Foxy and Chika are the other three. Foxy looks insane. I wrote this note toto myself I don't remember writing but Stans. I wish I had big magical friends who were capable of murder and then keep my hands clean. Fuck what a you're planning. Yeah. Yeah. This is when dip shit Mike
Starting point is 00:52:22 realizes that all of her drawings are of these animatronic friends and the children's. How did she know? Okay. And then Vanessa is back at Freddy's? Okay so the next morning yes Abby is eating. Yeah which we had seen prior in the movie we had seen earlier in the movie that she was refusing to eat so now she's eating and you the movie that she was refusing to eat. So now she's eating and you're like, oh, that's good. That's great. She's got friends. And he says to her, are they ghosts?
Starting point is 00:52:54 And she's like, of course, how else do they make the robots move? And Abby's like, yeah, we, we need to make a fort. And he's like, yeah, we're not going to make a fort. And Vanessa goes, let's make a fort. Oh, that's when they're back at the restaurant. Yeah. Oh, okay. I'm sorry. Because this whole bit here, there's like this reveal of the ghost kids
Starting point is 00:53:16 controlling the animatronics and Mike learning about it. It all feels a bit like stilted and weird. It doesn't flow very well. Yeah, I knew there were some gaps in my notes because I was just disinterested and things were happening. Yeah. Like, yeah, no, I'm aware of what's happening. Let's move along here. But yes, they build a fort set to Elastica. Yeah. And this is where I wrote in all caps, is Vanessa a I assume she wasn't actually a cop and she was just like faking the funk on all this.
Starting point is 00:53:51 Because she never seems to do any cop work. She never has an actual cop job. Trilling this hottie around his sister. And there's one little girl in the dream sequences who's like a little blonde girl with long hair and I thought maybe she's a ghost, she's one of those kids, but she came back in a corporeal form of a lady cop. I should do. A beautiful lady cop. She says something to him like I don't understand why you keep bringing her here and it's like because he doesn't have child care. And that's actually not the reason. It's because he feels closer to Garrett there. Yeah. And she's a friend of the animatronics so he now wants he he to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to he to to he he to he to he to he he he he to he he he to he he to to to to to to to to to the the the the the to to to the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. t. t. tol. tol. tol. tole. tole. to. tole. to. to. tole. to. to. tole. to. to. tol. I to. not the reason. It's because he feels closer to Garrett there. Yeah. And she's a friend of the animatronics, so he now wants her to talk to the animatronics, her being Abby.
Starting point is 00:54:30 Right, she like gives and takes messages. And then Vanessa turns on a dime and starts screaming at him to let it go. All right. Which is her trying to save him from the pain that he knows is coming down the pike at him. Is he to be murdered? Is Abby to be murdered? Are both of them to be murdered to be murdered? What is the plan right now? Abby is going to be stuck into an animatronic and he's going to be murdered? But she has to be murdered to be stucke? into an animatronic, right? Well sure, yeah, yeah. So the killer is just a kill, okay, it's unusual, okay.
Starting point is 00:55:06 Okay, so we hear, okay, or maybe Vanessa's dad was the owner and he murdered the kids, in which case why? What? Yes, and? Question stands? She does say to him if you ever bring Abby back here again, I will shoot you. Shoot you. Yeah. And then Abby says, she seemed angry with you. Most people seem angry with you. Why does everyone always look at you that way?
Starting point is 00:55:34 Oh, because I'm a dick. Yeah. Abby is like, and before that, Abby's like dancing with the the trunets the guitar and passes out? It sparks. the guitar and passes out? It sparks. Something about the electricity, I guess, is iffy, and it shoots her back in an electrocuted moment. Gotcha, gotcha. So he, yeah. So Abby wakes up in the morning and Jane is there.
Starting point is 00:56:02 Right, because he makes a phone call that says I need help. I hate this. Yeah. I hate the scene. Why do you hate this? Because she's so upset she starts scribbling him out of all of her pictures. Yeah, that's not going to come back up. That breaks my heart. Aunt Jane, I haven't known if that just says MSM is a thiber. M. S M. M. M. M. M. M. M. M. M. M. M. M. M. M. M. M. M. M. M. M. M. M. M. M. M. M. M. M. M. M. M. M. M. M. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. M. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. Mary Stewart Masters. Yeah, she's a shitbird. She's just really unkind and and Abby is pissed that she's there. So she goes, yeah, crossing out all of Mike's, you know, because Mike is in all of her drawings. Yeah, he's like the central figure in all of them. Yeah, she loves him. And then he's at the, he's at the pharmacy. Oh, yes. And the guy's like, you know what I take and I can't sleep?
Starting point is 00:56:45 warm glass of milk with some chamomile and some honey. And I was like, you know, that sounds fucking delicious. Okay, I was wondering why I had a note that says warm milk is reprehensible for adults to drink. Now I know. And every time I try typing camomell and I blame you for this, my phone would change Camomil to a Chameleaer. That is 100% my fault. I'm so sorry. My phone try to change Camemile to Camillioner. That's my life.
Starting point is 00:57:21 You hated. Auto-correcting and trying to catch me red and dirty. Trying to get me riding dirty. Oh, he covers that Weird Ow so white and nerdy. It's such a good one. Weird Owls such a fucking treasure. So we're back in the dream world, but things are different now and the kids are like, you know, you could be living like this if you stop playing. Yes. Okay, so mom, dad and Garrett are all th and th and th and th. And th. th. th. th. th th. th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th trying th trying trying trying trying to get trying trying trying to get to get trying to get trying trying trying trying trying trying trying trying trying trying trying trying th. thing, thing, thing, th. th. th. th. th. th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, the kids are like, you know, you could be living like this if you stop playing. Yes. Okay, so mom, dad, and Garrett are all there. And it's not the same sequence. It's not the groundhog day. Yeah. And the kid says to him, this could be real. Right. You said we could have anything we wanted. We want Abby. And he's like, yeah, th At first, which is bizarre, right? Yeah, let me get my brother back, which has been the focal point of my life.
Starting point is 00:58:08 For which I have murdered my sister. Yes, I will willingly give up this beautiful, beautiful child. In the meantime, though, the dream mom is trying to convince him to give her up. Like, you were never the right person to take care of her. Yeah. He just agrees. Yeah. And then he's like, wait, no, I didn't mean that. Shit. Yeah. Yeah. And then he realized that Abby can be his new Garrett, right. Which I have the note, but Abby can be your new Garrett dog. Yeah. There's like there's garrets to go around. So now he's being attacked by the kids again? Yeah, they're just straight up like slashing him. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:58:48 And then he ends up locked in the saw machine. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Which is the inside of an animatronic, which has these like harnesses. Do we talk about this already? Okay. With like sawblades and shit in them, yeah. We've talked about so many other things I forgot. We are an hour into this already. Fuck it. And he, the room that he gets up in, he gets free from the bear saw face and he is in a room with all of the vandals who had broken
Starting point is 00:59:14 in to smash stuff up. Yes. Max and her crew. And then we hear what my, what the subtitles came up as Foxy Scatting. I wrote Foxy Loves Roccapella, so there you go. Also, how does a giant animatronic get into your house without you knowing? Oh, but a bee, bup, bup, bup, b-pah, I don't know. Yeah, so Jane is trying to talk to Abby back at Mike's house, Mike and Abby's house. And she's like, whatever, fuck it. And the the the the the the the the the the the the they, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th. th. th. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, tho, tho, tho, tho, th, th, th, th, th, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, th. So, th. So, th. So, th. So, th. So, th. So, th. So, th. And, th. And, th. And, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thin, thin, thin, tho, tho, tho-s, too-s, toge, together, together, together, together, together, tho-s, tho-s, And she's like, whatever, fuck it. And then she goes and sit down the lazy boy and goes, ugh. She's happy.
Starting point is 00:59:49 Appreciate that. Appreciate that from you very soon, Master's sick. Yeah, she's happy. So the boy says to her, they're all waiting for you. It's time to go play. Yeah. And they walk out into the living, the living. the living. to. the living room and you see Aunt Jane's like the lower half of her body sprawled on the floor and he's like silly Aunt Jane she fell asleep they murdered her which begs the question what's gonna happen to Mike when they get home and that never comes back up yeah yeah yeah so then she calls an Uber or
Starting point is 01:00:18 something it's a regular ass taxi and he's listening to Brandy which is clearly and I still know what you did less on a reference. Oh yeah he's talking about how he hates or he loves him when his shoes shoot back out of the trier. Love it when they do that. He's like where you go in little lady to the little girl and then the animatronic gets in the car and they go to Freddy's and I was like why is this this real? the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. He's. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. th. th. to to to to to to. to. I to to to the. I to the. I the. I th. I th. I th. I th And I was like, why is this real? Why is he there? It's very... I don't know. If you're a ghost, if you're a ghost, yeah, just travel. Just ride along? I've seen Ghost Dad, I know how it works. I know. I know. Ayay. So we get back to the place and Vanessa's taking care of Mike and that's when he realizes that Vanessa is in on it or she has to tell him because he never realizes anything. He knows she's like the man who took them was very bad and cruel but clever.
Starting point is 01:01:14 Dad that dad. D D D D D D D D D D Duh. Mike. I'm still going to give you a hand job but I'm not going to like it. He put the bodies where they would never Mike, I'm still gonna give you a hand job, but I'm not gonna like Anna. He put the bodies where they would never think to check. I would think they'd think to check. I, yes, it's she goes, it's not just their ghosts that are inside of those machines, it's their bodies and I thought, no, I cannot show this to Lucy. Also those bodies would stink to high hell. High hell! The kids don't want to hurt anyone, but he influences them.
Starting point is 01:01:47 And this is where I was like, wait, what? Okay, all right. This is starting to trickle downhill for me. They're losing it. They're losing the thread here. Yeah. I feel like it's that scene in a cartoon where like a refrigerator cable gets wrapped around Daffy Duck's ankle and then the refrigerator falls on the flight of stairs and he has a few seconds before it. Yeah. This is where that, this is the precipice upon which this movie is positioned.
Starting point is 01:02:10 So Abby shows up at Freddy's and I realize we still haven't seen the yellow bunny yet and I wonder if that's gonna come up at any point. Well and also she's like, and there's a yellow bunny. What? the name is William Aft. I. th. th. th. the the the they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. A. A. Yeah, they. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. the. the. P. the. this. this. this. P. A. A. P. A. A. A. P. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. is William Afton. He's my father. Mike, are you listening? No, I've been dreaming this whole time. Then I thought, so she keeps this fucking place from being knocked down? Dude. Dude. Dude. Oh, and we see a picture of her with her father in the yellow bunny costume. Yep. And she's holding Garrett's plane. Yes, right. Right. So that's when dumb, dumb Mike finally catches up
Starting point is 01:02:54 to what the fuck has been going on this entire movie. Mike is doing a jigsaw puzzle, but it's one of those four piece ones that fits in a frame for toddlers. He's like, I see it now. Inception for morons. So then the the monster people start playing, talking to your sleep again by their romantic. Then I thought these poor kids are just performing this song all the time. Like did they do this just to the empty room sometimes? Oh no. Practice. All right, yeah. So she has taken Mike to a like police outpost. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:03:32 Yeah. No one ever goes to the point of mentioning that it's like never ever goes to this police outpost. So she gives him the cop car and says if he's there I won't be of any use to you, believe me. Yeah. Because I guess he just controls her. She says, if you could see the you that... So she gives him a cattle prod and a taser and says, these should disrupt the electronics and the animatronics. Yeah, I think she says electricity is the key. Yeah. And she tells them how to get in, she's like, there's a secret vent she can go through. I was like, okay, video game movie, you gotta figure all that stuff out. Yes, you just hit the hint button. Yeah, we can see that Chika has Abbey. Well first, they're doing the song on stage and he dumps a bucket of water onto the floor on their feet and then hits him with the electricity. Right, right. Yeah, but yes, Chika has Abby. Yeah, and
Starting point is 01:04:31 Chika is trying to put Abby in the animatronic that Mike found earlier that Vanessa told him about that if you put a body in there it'll crush it inside. Yes. I love Chika's like not impressed and also evil eyes. Yeah. Yeah, looks so good. She's got a, she's got a resting bitch face. Yeah. Begs the question. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:04:52 Who's inside that cupcake? Just a baby? Just a tiny baby. Ay, ay. So the cupcake attacks Mike and it can fly and drag him around and it's ridiculous. He tases it in its mouth. Yeah, for a long time? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:05:12 So the machines, all the game machines start turning on. Yeah. And just looking at the ball pit where Abby is now hiding, smart girl, it gives me such fucking anxiety I had to like take off my sweatshirt. I was like I'm sweating, I can't do this. I did like that it seemed as Foxy was walking through the game room, the games were being powered by Foxy being nearer them. Yeah, that was cool. That was really cool. But yeah, she hides in the ball pit and Yellow Bunny arrives. Yeah, I still hadn't put it together who the dad was going to be. I was like, is he alive?
Starting point is 01:05:45 Who is it? I think I had assumed the father was dead. Sure. I thought he was a ghost too. The safe assumption. Yeah. And then I thought, Vanessa fucking sell the building. Or just stop going. Yeah. I mean, it looked like valuable property. I don't know. It's huge. So Vanessa grabs Abby out of the ball pit. And th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I thi. I thi. I thi. I thi. I'm thi. I'm thoes. I'm thoes. I'm the thi. I don't know, it's huge. So Vanessa grabs Abby out of the ball pit. And the bunny starts beaten on Mike and then takes its head off and lo and behold it's Matthew Lillard. But before he takes his head off he says I killed your brother, now I kill you. Symmetry my friend. Is that symmetry? I don't think so? I don't think so. No, because one was a kid now he's an adult. Yeah, that's not what what what what what what that's not that's not that's not that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's thii. I thi. I's thirty. thirty. thirty. thi. thi. thi. the thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. the the the bony. the bony. the bony. the bony. the bony. the bony. the b. the b. the b. the b. the b. the b. the b. the b. I's the b. I's the b. I's the the b. I's a the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the thi. I's the. thee. theee. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the bony. B. B. B. B. I's. think so. I don't think so. No, because one was a kid, now he's an adult. That's not what that means. And there's three children of this family, so it's not even... Ooh, trimatry. Trimetry. The trilogy. It's Matthew Lillard. It's Matthew Fullid. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. I love him. I love him being revealed as a bad guy in the final scenes of a movie. When does that happen before? I don't know, some other time maybe in one other movie that I'm going to think of?
Starting point is 01:06:48 Scooby-Doo? Yeah. In terms of shaggy, right in the gut, starts painting the blood on his face and turns to Daphne. That's fucked up. I can't believe you said that. Oh yeah, yay. So Vanessa shoots her dad, her dad stabs her. He says to her, you may have forgotten your loyalties, but I assure you they have not. And the animatronics are like, eh. That's what we find out.
Starting point is 01:07:17 He's like, you had one job, which is to keep people away from this and kill them if they get in here. Okay, so her job was to keep to keep to keep to keep to keep to keep to keep to keep to keep to keep the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. thii, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th. th. that's, that's, that's, that's, th. th. that's, they. they. they. they. they. they, they, that's, th. that's, th. We th. We that's, th. We th.. We th. We that th.. We that that that that that that the, that the, that the, the. I the. Wea. Wea. I that's thean, toean, toean. I toean. I've, toean. I've, thean. I thean. I th like, that's two jobs. Okay, so her job was to keep people away from it. Yeah. Then why was he hiring security guards? So that he could kill them? Because he's Mike Schmidt and he's been trying to kill all of the 1973's Philly lineup. He got Tug McGraw. Look out of Tufts.
Starting point is 01:07:42 It's a tugug-we'd crawl his catchface. I feel like you've told me that on this podcast before. And then acted indignant that I didn't already know it, like I was born. I really hope this turns into a horror resurgence for Matthew Lillard. I want him to be happy. I just want him the adult hacker. Wow, there are no adult hackers. No, they just work for Apple and they're like,
Starting point is 01:08:10 anyhow. Now they have stock options. Because I learned in SLC Punk that we all sell out sometimes. Sure. Yeah, we have to. So yes, Vanessa gets stabbed by her dad. Yeah, we think she's dead. And meanwhile, Abby gets a piece of paper in some crayons. And draws what actually happened to the kids
Starting point is 01:08:31 that are in the animatronics. Why don't you just tell them? It seemed like she could speak to them. Because the drawing seemed to have a power for children. Because before you even have language, thrown, thrown, thii. thi. thi. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, and thi, and thi, and thi, and thi, and thi, and thi, thi, and thi, and thoomom. thi, and thi, thi, and thoomoomoom. thoomoomoomoomoom. to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be thi, and thi, and thi, and thi, and thi, and thi, and thi, and thi. And thi. And thi. And, and thi. And, and thi. And, and thi. thi. thi. too. too. toooooooooomorrow, tooomorrow, tooomorrow, tooomorrow, tooomorrow, before you even have language, you're a visual learner. That's true and lovely, but also she has been able to communicate with them verbally, so. Come with it now?
Starting point is 01:08:51 Nda da da da da da. Da da da. So yeah, she makes a picture up off the ground. theymeatrond. theymeat. that, tighten around him. Yeah Mike picks Vanessa up off the ground of course she's not dead you fool Children's movie. Yeah, and
Starting point is 01:09:20 Cut to Abby is doing better. She's interacting in class now. She's made real friends not dead ghosts in animatronics Mike has a little bit more color in his face. That's the only change we can see. We don't see him being employed and doing a good job at it. No. Venisa is in a coma in the hospital. He makes his kid shoes between pizza and spaghetti, which I thought was shitty. Yeah, which carb do you want? But also, no, you don't have to choose. What do you mean? Spaghetti's like 99 fucking cents. Wait, so you would make pizza and spaghetti? If my child wanted both?
Starting point is 01:09:49 Wow. You would eat both? Would you not eat both? I feel like you would give the kid like tacos or pizza? Yeah. Like go, go more multi-ethnic, like, yeah. Right. I just don't think a person should have to choose between pizza and spa. I've th th th th th th th th th th th th th th the the the the the the the the the. the. the. thi. thi. thi. thatatatate. thatea. thatatea. thi. thi. thi. thi. tho. thoom. thoom. thoom. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. toa. toa. toa. toa. toa. toa. toa. toa. toa. toa. toa. toa. toa. toa. tha. tha. think a person should have to choose between pizza and spaghetti. I wanted them to put the pasta on the pizza. I've never eaten that of you. No. I bet someone has.
Starting point is 01:10:08 Probably. I think I've had ravioli on pizza now that I see that. How about some hot dogs? So she's been in a coma for a couple weeks. Yeah. Okay, that's it. The end. that's it. The end. And we see that's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's that. that. that. that. that's it's it. that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that. that's that. that's that's that's. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the they. they. they. they. the. the. the. the. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I. Yeah. I. Yeah. Yeah. I. that's. I. that's. that Matthew Lillard is slowly dying. The kids are like watching him die. Yes, we're definitely setting up a five nights at Freddy's sequel here of the little blonde kid watching him suffer. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:10:35 And then we get a post credit sequence. Oh, it was really fast, dude. Oh, sorry. You were like, no, no, no. I was busy. I'm busy. So throughout the movie, there's been this like little balloon statue that like little kid holding balloons that's been freaking
Starting point is 01:10:53 Mike out over and over. So we get the cabbie who got Freddie in his car earlier is now like taking a nap and someone's knocking on the window and he opens his eyes and just like like, the serious? Whoa, balloon boy! And little balloon figurines in the car with him, the end. All right. Yeah. Five nights at Freddy's. So at the end of this movie, yes. I felt like, well, that was a bit of a letdown. Sure. But maybe it wasn't. I think it was just a movie for not us. OK. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:11:30 There were a lot of parts of it I really enjoyed. Because truly, the animatronics were in ball pits, great fears of mine. Sure. Yeah. Well, what rating would you give this movie? Would you give it five Freddy's? I think it's better than that. I'm of two minds about this because I do think it's very fun.
Starting point is 01:11:51 I think the dichotomy of, oh, good word. Thank you. Of, like, possessed animatronics and also child death is like very weird and interesting and hard to look away from I feel like it's such a great premise. I feel like it had a lot of promise and then sort of Peters out at the end. Yeah, I thought it was weird that they just left her in a coma at the end. Yeah, I'd like to I mean I guess they're setting up for a sequel, I'm sure they are, that's the industry these days, but like... Sixth Night at Fridays. Yeah, all movies have to be movies. You can't just, you can't just, you can't resolve things.
Starting point is 01:12:35 Um, I'm gonna give it a six and a half. If I would watch this again whole heartedly before I'd watch, say, Exorcist Belie any of the any of the other recent Bloomhouse movies besides Megan. Yeah. Yeah. I think six is solid for this. Yeah. And again, it's not for me.
Starting point is 01:12:52 And again, it's not for me. Like, I think it's like some of the 12-year-old saw this movie. the set of sleep. Bees' knees. Yeah. Yeah, they'd. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. they'd. they'd. they'd. they'd. they'd. they'd. they'd. they'd. they'd. they'd. they'd. they'd they'd they'd they'd they'd th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. th. th. I to have something that's going to give them nightmares. This movie's not going to give anybody nightmares. Oh, little kids. Maybe. Yeah, little tiny baby kids. Oh wow.
