And it opens with a gross bloody skull, I'm in. Yeah. It's called Uncle Peckerhead, I'm on board. Which I feel like belies its greatness.

I feel like Uncle Peckerhead is a movie that you'd be like, oh my god, I don't need to see that. But like this, I don't, I feel like they should have named it something something else. Hard disagree. I think Uncle Peckerhead is a great title for this movie. Okay, all right. Packerhead's just nice. It's just a nice thing to call somebody. You like that?

I could tell you about hardcore bands today and like 20 years ago, but that in-between space is just a blank spot for me. That's fair. I saw you flailing there and I was like, I'm going to step in.

Thank you. You're welcome. You did not see Shark Dick or Quiff Queens. Queequequee a good name for a band. So good! I feel like I played with Quief Queens. So is duh. The name of the band that is the the protagonist of our film. Duh, they're a three piece. I love this.

Power trio. I love them. Look, you don't need I've been in a band with six people. I've been in multiple bands with six people. That's too many to coordinate for practice. You need three people. You need bass guitar drums. You're out, out, out. You just need all people with pro attitudes and pro gear.

How to go? It was fine. We played with this band I really liked from Delaware called the Mistood. Oh. Who had a song about these Zubis, which are the inbred children of the DuPont family? Yes, okay. And the chorus was the Zubis are coming, coming, they're coming to kill. Oh, I love that. I love that. The Mistood were great. That's great. Yeah. Yeah. I was like 22. Okay. And it was at the Quiet Storm. You were 22 when you played your first show. Yeah, it was like after I graduated from college, I was like, I'm starting a band. Nice. And then I just recruited people and... What band was this? The Maxi Pads, of course. Oh, okay.

You know, that band that our like maybe third show was at Roboto where you booed us and I was 22 years old and I didn't know you, I'd never laid eyes on you before. And we were just little girls, literally we were just little girls. baby girls and you were in your mid-30s booing us. And that planted the seeds for one of the greatest friendships of my life. It's true. How many great friendships come from a grown man booing a practically teenage girl? I thought it was understood that I was jokingly booing you? I barely was not. It was not.

Because we, like, okay, so we're playing in the Mr. Robato project, which I fuck all of. And the former Mr. Robato project in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania. Oh, gee, Mr. Robato. Yeah, one of my favorite venues of all time. Oh, that's a place with a dump. I loved playing there. I did not. Okay. venue it's for everybody. No, nobody ever said hi to me when I walked in. I've been going to shows there since I was like 15. I played there a bunch. I never

felt comfortable there. Have you tried being a man? I have not. I have not. No. Punk rock's a lot more forgiving to men. Men folk. And so I'm there with my girl band. And we had practiced really hard because we were like we're gonna fucking show these people that were not a joke we're gonna fucking do it and here you are booing me! Never forget Mike Bollum looking at you too. And Eric Eric M also. That's the other thing is that it was like giant dudes with beards who look like grown-ass man. I was 22 years old. Oh man, it was it was we were just fucking around. Yeah, we're serious. Fine, we're friends now.

But I, like, yeah, boot us! This made me think about like touring and like, like just the wild stories you get from tour. Like, we... Yes. Where are we, like, like, like, we, like, like, uh, like, the. And we're like, yeah? And then he proceeded to tell us a story about how you should never let palehead stay in your house because they lit his mattress on fire. Yeah. Like non sequitur after non sequitur

and he spoke like a cartoon hillbilly from the 50s and it was fantastic. I remember playing a show in I want to say Ohio where I was standing and tuning my base right before we started and this kid walked up to me and he goes you play a bass and I was like yeah it's right here like it's right fucking here he was like what kind of base is it and I just like pointed to the thing and I was like it's's this. This is the brand. And he was like, wow. I was like, can you leave? Can you just go? Oh my God.

Every part of this movie, I was like, yes, this, yes. This was definitely written by someone who did the things that we did. And the person who plays Max is in band. Yeah. Yeah. Like all the band on tour and Judy's like quitting her job and the one woman's like well we should say something nice to Judy and the other two people are like mmm should we I don't wish you

any specific harm because Judy's a shithead Judy is very high strong and I get this as a bit of a Judy myself when she said it the one woman's like I wouldn't feed your macarons to a dog. To my dogs. But you're all right. Your scones are all right or whatever you have. So she's trying to get her band, duh. Yeah. Put on a show with this, I don't know whatever this big venue.

Yeah. The venue across the street from the, I don't know whatever this big venue is. Yeah, the venue across the street from the bakery. The venue, venue across the street from the bakery. It's a huge venue. Yeah. Big deal. It's a shark dick, quief queens show. And she's urging the guy, the book, or the promoter, a mirror, to listen everything on tapes. Yeah. Okay. Yeah, these kids are going back to basics. I mean, like our friends, our great

friends in five foot arm, put out a tape and I was like, I have no fucking way to listen. I can't buy it. I'll buy it, but like, I'll just give you the five dollars. I have no way to listen. Like we only bought vans for under $500. It was like if you have cash in your pocket, that's what we're buying the van for him. A few of the tours that we did, uh, we rented vans. Okay. Rain or Maria, which I'm very into. Sure. Yeah. Get the dueling vocals there. Yeah. So his name the te'nake her head. At least that's what his dad always called him. Yeah, brutal. My friends call me Peck. And Judy finds blood on the side of the van and just touches it like you do. She's ridiculous. Just don't touch it. He refuses to speed.

Right. And she's worried because they're late for their first show. Yeah. But they show up and nobody's there. No, which happens constantly all the time. Worst thing. You're in like fucking Johnstown, Pennsylvania, just being like, I guess we'll sit here. We were in Calgary on a tour that was not going well. Okay.

I think we played 19 out of 24 dates. Oh Jesus. And I was the road the road the road the road the road the roadie, not even in the band. What band was this? Fields Lay Fallow. Okay. And we're in Calgary and the people were staying with are putting on the show, so we go to the show space and the dude who's supposed to let us in never shows up. Oh no. So they just break into the show.

Exactly. I feel like a lot of this movie is like, how could they on the road, it's different. Yeah. Rules are different. Yeah. You do whatever. You do whatever you want. You swim in your underwear in rivers. You claim that because you're from a bigger city, you're better than for everyone there. We mostly played smaller towns.

So they, eventually someone comes and opens up the show space. But in the meantime, Judy has gone through a peckerhead's glove compartment and found a bag of syringes and vials. Yeah, I mean it just looked like he was diabetic. Yeah, right? Like that would have been my first guess and she's immediately like, what's he up to? Well I would think opioids do. Okay, yeah. Okay, yeah. Yeah. We meet the promoter of this show, uh, who tells them that they're the only band book tonight? And can they do a three hour, three hours with a 15 minute break between sets?

And she's like, uh, we can do 20 minutes. She says, we have 20 minutes of original material, 22 minutes with a misfits cover. And I was like, holy shit, I have uttered those words. I remember standing at the bar of the 31st Street pub, God rest its soul. Yeah. Talking to Joel, the owner, God rest his soul. I assume he's dead. And if he's not, I hope he is. Just him being like, well, what are you gonna? And I was like, we have 20 minutes.

Like we could do 20 minutes and we have last caress, you know? Because everyone does. Everyone has last notes. Yeah. Yeah. Maybe you're a little bit better at what you're doing and you're gonna pull out hybrid moments. Ooh, that's like four notes. Yeah, yeah. We would do Last Koress, 138, and...

And they were like, oh, there's there band and the Flyer just says our band name and party. I love that actually. I'm showing up for a party. No one else did. No. And it's like they're doing their setup and they don't know what they're doing because they've not played shows before. Yeah. And everything's shocking you and thi the the the the their their their their their th th th th th th th th th th th thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi their their their their their their their their their their their their their their is their is their is their is their is their is their is their is their is their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. thea. thooooooooooo. the. thooooooooo. their their their the. the. the. their setup and they don't know what they're doing, because they've not played shows before. And everything's shocking you and things are feeding back and you don't know why and I feel that like anxiety.

The levels are all jacked when they play their show, play their set and it's just like, oh fuck. But they're ripping, they're head banging, they're having a good time with it. How much money they make? Three dollars. Once Manny Thiner gave us $13 and called us Weisenheimer's for even asking for money. Wisenheimer's, $13. God, I've played so many shows for no dollars. Yeah, oh my god. That $13 was a fucking windfall. I lost so much money on the Maxipads. I had to pay van insurance. Oh yeah, I've lost so much money on the MaxiPads. I had to pay van insurance. Oh yeah, I've lost so much money on every fucking band. This podcast is the only profitable artistic endeavor I've ever done.

I'm happy for you. That and a band from 30 years ago that is now getting many plays on Spotify. Do you want to hype it for people? I feel like you haven't talked about it on the show, but Alan's emo band from when he was a young man. 22. That's a young man. I mean, like, what if somebody booed you like while you were playing your scent? I was already crying, so it would have done anything. We were called Eldrogena Set.

We put out one seven inch in 1997, and then we were broken up by the time that seven it should come out. Sure, like you do. Yeah, yeah, as an Emo band, we'll do. And then recently the Numero Group Record Company, who just reissues, got in touch and we're going to reissue our stuff plus three songs that have never been released before.
