Starting point is 00:00:00 Alan. Katie. A decade in the making. A decade in the making. A decade in the making. Ten years. Our most requested guest. Really? A decade in the making. Ten years. Our most requested guest. Really? By the guest. That's accurate. No one has asked to be on the show as much as you. Well, I did an AMA for God's sakes. You did until our friend troll you when you had to stop. I had to text Joe and be like, you have to stop, that's Gason.
Starting point is 00:00:45 God, I love Gason. I still have their shorts. My cousin Joe is here. Hey Joe. Hello. Hi Joe. Thanks for letting us use your mixer all these years. Well, it's not really mine.
Starting point is 00:01:00 Then why are you here? Years of wearing you down. Yeah, we got a Godzilla. It's such a good movie. Don't spoil the ratings face. Is it? Yeah, I'm joking. Okay, so you had said to watch the subtitled version.
Starting point is 00:01:18 Correct. And you told me that twice. So I watched the dubbed version. Hell yeah. No, I didn't, but the look on Joe's face was really good. Do you want to know a fun fact? Yeah. Did you watch the Raymond Burr version? Did you watch both? Yeah, I watched both. How did you find them to be different?
Starting point is 00:01:33 Oh, they speak English to me. Fans fantastic. Fuck you, Iron Sights. Yeah. They brought him back, when they made him back, Raymond Burr, when they made the rebirth of Godzilla 85, they brought back Raymond Burr to do more Americanized scenes. So those two movies are completely different too with Raymond Burr, again playing Steve Martin, the guy he plays in, but they refer to him as Mr. Martin because Steve Martin.
Starting point is 00:02:12 Gotcha. Steve Martin is taken. Especially in 1985. That's what became the Martin sitcom, if I'm not mistaken. Oh yeah, Martin. It all comes together in the end. Damn, Gina. I was racking my brain for the catchphrase. I just kept being like, Martin, but that wasn't it. Well, you go, Martin? Damn, Gina. What was that television show? Wow, that's... Who played Martin? Yeah, I can't remember. It was a Martin, Martin, what's his face?
Starting point is 00:02:42 It was Martin Lawrence? was yes Martin Lawrence okay yeah all right good thank you thank you I am Dbb so we're talking about the 1954 Godzilla the classic why did you bring us this Joe because it's a I think it's a I think it's a horrifying film I remember I was a you know I was a kid I grew up and I loved Godzilla movies. I saw all the Godzilla movies and I actually hadn't seen the subtitled version, which I think is significantly more haunting than the Americanized version until I was like in my 20s. But the, the, the original version even, or the Americanized version, excuse me, like made me very uncomfortable as a child.
Starting point is 00:03:25 Yeah. Like, it wasn't something I would watch frequently. I would watch it like every great once in a while and I would like, kind of not feel good about it. So like, you have a horror podcast and it's the most horrifying movie that I like. All right, fair enough. And isn't it wild that, like, this movie can be so good and atmospheric and forgive me for this blasphemy, but Godzilla looks like shit. Uh, strong disagree.
Starting point is 00:03:50 When he shows up at first and he's like poking his head over the mountain, I think it looks fantastic. I think it looks fantastic. And his one eye is just going off in this direction. Yeah. Godzell's got his head on a swivel. See, I thou that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was out. I thought that was like, when I was a kid, that like was extra horrifying. Because it's like, because like you're used to like the 60s Godzilla suit and like,
Starting point is 00:04:11 fucked up Godzilla is just like. Yeah. I mean, I think it's a testament to the movie that is so successfully atmospheric and like, they did it in what, 10 months from the inciting event of those sailors dying from an actual like a H-bomb dropped by the US and like we're just testing stuff shouldn't be here anyway. The Lucky Dragon number nine incidents something like that. Yeah, yeah, and then like for that to come, within 10 months, they have produced a literal masterpiece of cinema on a shoestring budget. Like, phenomenal. It is really good.
Starting point is 00:04:51 Yeah, mind-boggling. I don't know how long it was after the occupation had ended that they made that, because it was one of the earlier movies after like the censorship laws had changed. You know, because there was like from the beginning of the occupation, like to, to, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, threat, thi, thi, to, to, to, to, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, the, and, the, the, they.e, they.e.e.e.e.ea.ea.ea.ea.ea.ea.ea.ea.ea.e.e. And, the.e.e. And, the. And, there was like from from the beginning of the occupation like to whenever they just could not, you know, you couldn't criticize American in a Japanese movie. And they never like it's never voiced right this either but you know. There's lines like there's the one line where they're like they're on the train and there's just like a lady talking to another guy and she's like I narrowly escaped Nagasaki. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. And they. And they. And the the they. There, the they, they, they're, their, they're, they're, they're like, they're like, they're like, they're just, they're just, they're just, they're just, they're just, you're just, you're just, you they're just, you could just, they're just, you could they're just, they're just, they're just, they're just, they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're they're they're they're like, they're like, they're like, they're like, they, they, they, they're they, they could just just they could just just they could just they could just just they could just just they, they're they're they're they're they're on the train and there's just like a lady talking to another guy and she's like I narrowly escaped Nagasaki. And here I know I'm gonna get eaten by a monster or something it's like oh fucking heartbreaking. I don't want to
Starting point is 00:05:33 relocate again. Yeah. Also that lady smoking hot. that lady smoking hot. Would. Well she's a survivor. She's a survivor. She's never going to give up. This movie thanks the Japan Coast Guard in the opening credits, which I like quite a bit. I never thought about them I'm having a Coast Guard, of course they do, but what do they look like? What are their outfits? This is like what I had to get up when morning and Google did the rest of the world have tornadoes? They do. They do. They do. They do. I was like, wait a minute. Why are we so stupid? And I'm proud to be in Pratt.
Starting point is 00:06:09 And then there's a cacophony of farts. I really like that the opening score is just a bunch of fart sounds. It's just Godzilla making his sound, but it's at all different pitches and all happening at once and it just sounds like a bunch of people from they were still figuring stuff out you know. I like it. But it's also very atmospheric and like when in the Godzilla Oove does the bomb bomb bomb like that big like the Godzilla soundtrack. The big steps kind of. Yeah I thought it was in this movie but it's not. It's I think it's King Kong versus Godzilla. Is it? Okay. Because that one where they have they have they have they have they have they have they have they have they have they have they have they have they have they have they have they have they have they have they have they have they have they have they have they have they have they have they have the they have the they have the the the the the the the the the the the their. their. their. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the they have the the th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the the the the the the So like two movies, two movies seven years forward.
Starting point is 00:06:45 Okay. Because I like that one where they have the berries that make them all sleepy? Yes. Yeah, I love that one. Yeah, I love that one. That's another one where you've probably seen the subtitle version and you should watch it.
Starting point is 00:06:54 No, you gave it Oh, that movie. No, then I haven't. That movie's hilarious. Oh, it's a very taco. He's like my favorite character. Anyway, sorry. Dr. Taco. He's not really a doctor, he's Mr. Taco, but yeah, anyway. You've given him his just desserts. Stolen Valor on being a doctor.
Starting point is 00:07:21 So we, we meet, ata. Ogata. I thought he was running a salvage, but then it turns out he just is in the coast guard anyway so it's got to be there. Unclear. Yeah. This is where he's like, enjoy the string quartet that I'm very pleased to not have to attend. He's like, you go, you go inside.
Starting point is 00:07:42 Oh, do I have to go fight Godzilla again? My bad. O'Gada is such, I never realized until this reason watching when I was really paying attention writing down notes. I was like, oh god is such a Nimrod. Like, it's a real ding-doh. He doesn't like get social cues. No. I won't jump ahead, but yeah, he like, yeah, what a dummy. He's a real like, this is how far pretty will get you. Yes, it's a very pretty man. Just this far. And he's got a nursing assistant, true,
Starting point is 00:08:12 because Emico is wearing like a nurse's hat for some reason to go to the string quartet, I don't know what's happening. Who can say? She's like, she does. She's like, she's like, okay. She's like, okay. She's like, okay. She's like, okay. She's like, okay. She's like, okay. She's like, th. She's like, th. She's like, th. She's like, th. She's like, thi. She's like, thi. She's like, thi. She's like, thi. She's like, thi. She's like, thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. She. She. She's, th. She's, th. She's, th. She's, th. She's, th. She's, th. She's, th. She's like, th. She's like, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi not a strong female character. No, well, she's got two boyfriends, which I like a lot. She does, she does. She's not- I depict eye patch, I think. She has not into her arranged marriage. No, no, but he's got an eye patch. What's cooler than that?
Starting point is 00:08:37 He got it in the war. Dr. Segah. Serozawa. Also permanently sweating. Through the entire movie he's dripping in sweat. He's in that laboratory so often and it looks like he's building Frankenstein down there. Like, you're just Fishingsstein. So Ogata has been called out because a ship has caught fire and goes down really fast. And the next scene is just all of the like people's families who were on these ships being like, did you find our loved ones?
Starting point is 00:09:12 And they're like, we'll tell you tomorrow. It's very upsetting. Oh, they blatantly do not care about the families. Like, the only reason they're happy, there's a survivor there's like, he can tell us what thah thahed...... they, they, they, they, they's, they, they's, they, they's, they's, they, their, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. they's, they's, thi, thi, thi, they's, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, they's, they's, they're tooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. tttt, they're like, he can tell us what happened. Yeah, no one cares about those families. I also wondered like how this went over with the Japanese government because they are not painted in a pretty light in this film. No, they are not sympathetic. Yeah. But the survivor tells them that the sea just exploded, which is a great line. The whole time I'm just thinking like, th th th th, the they they they they they they they their their thi their their their their their their thi. Yeah, their their their thi. Yeah, their their their their their thi. Yeah, thi. Yeah, their thi. Yeah, thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. their thi. thi. thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii. thi. thi. thi. th like, this is nine years after we dropped two bombs on this country. This is nine years after we dropped two bombs on this country. The whole like, just the nuclear anxiety is so palpable.
Starting point is 00:09:50 Like, yeah, oh God, can you fucking imagine? They like just hinted in there every once in a while. Like, I'm not, I've asked you this before, but did you grow up with like nuclear bomb drills and stuff. You probably did. You were born in the 70s. I was born in the 70s. Oh, have you two that born in the 1970s? What's it like? But I have, oh, it's very black and white. My knees hurt. Um, I don't remember nuclear bomb drills. No. Really? You don't remember getting under your desk and stuff like that?
Starting point is 00:10:20 When did you do it? Like grade school. So that would have been 86. Like up until 80. So from I went into school and what? 80 and then 80 to 86 probably. Okay, yeah, because I would have, in 86 I would have been seven. So like, I would have been in second grade. Yeah, you remember.
Starting point is 00:10:43 You went to Catholic school though they were like, just fucking, you've got other things to worry about. Just pray, just pray away. I was only if you see a priest run. That wasn't well known then yet, but- Brother, what's his face from North Catholic, never mind. Brother Bernie? Brother Bernie. Yeah, hit that list. Brother Bernie from North Catholic, he fled to Australia. Yeah, gone. It looks fine. He's an anti-flag? Oh, God, people we know. Well played. Damn. Did he get out of the country? He tried.
Starting point is 00:11:12 I don't know if he had to make it. I don't think he made it. Yeah. Yeah. Does he really? Yeah. I said I wasn't going to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the to to the to the to to the to the to the the the the the to the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the have to stop talking about the Irish so much. No, don't blame the Irish for this guy being a shit bird. I mean, they gave him citizenship.
Starting point is 00:11:30 What I said was, there's no way I can talk about Irish people during this movie. And here we are. Fair. Set me up. So Ogada is pretty, so I'miko likes him. Yeah. That's all I got. The end.
Starting point is 00:11:48 The end. So Ogada is played by Akira Takara. Okay. Who is one of the many actors in this film that was employed under the Toho studio system. Okay. So they like had contracts with the studio. So like you will see the same 20-ish 25 people in like all kinds of different Toho movies like a bunch of Godzilla movies, you know the finer films they made. They made finer films? Yeah, Curacao worked for them.
Starting point is 00:12:17 Like they made Ujimbo, they made Seven Samurai, like that was all Toho. The one actor that I like definitely recognize is Takasi Shamura, who is like the head samurai in. Like the the the the the the the their their their their their their their their their their th. th, like thi thi thi thi thi, like thi, like thi, like tah, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, tah-a, tah-a, tah-a, tah-a, tah-a, tah-a, tah-a, tah-s, tah-a, tah-s, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, urai, like that was all too. The one actor that I like definitely recognize is Takasi Shemora, who is like the head Samurai and Seven Samara, he's your Jimbo, he's like, he's in a ton of Akira's, Kurosawa stuff. Because, because Honda, the director of this movie was always the, whatever the backup director is called on a lot of the Kurosawa films, on a lot of the Kurosawa films-s...... th. th. th. films. Okay. And after Curacao started going blind, he like really did direct a lot of those Curacao films at Curacao's Direction. I didn't realize all that was under the same studio. How about that? Mm-hmm. I still get jazzed when I see the Toho logo show up at the beginning of the film. Oh, it's so cool. Or the Janus Films logo. Like both of those ones like, and I always, to to to to to to totime I see Janice, I go, hey, J. A. Nus. Every time.
Starting point is 00:13:08 And now so will all of our listeners, who never thought of them in their lives. I like, we meet this old man who's talking about Godzilla that he's basically talking about an ancient enemy. And he's like, once it eats all the fish in the sea, it'll start eating people. And he's like, if the fish got low, we'd sacrifice a young girl. Yeah. Sir, what? You're not that old.
Starting point is 00:13:31 Like, when were you doing? When was this medieval times? What? You're doing this in the 20th century? What? You know, it's 1954. Some of those Toho movies are not from that era, not really that sensitive about how they talk about indigenous people. Oh, yeah, what's someone on?
Starting point is 00:13:52 On the island? Cong versus Godzilla. There's definitely Japanese people in Blackface. That's right. That's right. That's also Congresses, Godzilla. Yeah, sorry. I was thinking about this, about this movie and how, like, you know, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, the, I, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi, th. th. to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to. to. to, to, th. It, th. th. It, th. th. th. th. th. to, th. It, to, to, to, to. to. to. to. to-a. to-a. to-a. to-a. to-a. to-a. to-a. to-a. to-a. to-a. to. to. this movie and how like, you know, the, I think it's from Peep Show where there's like the two guys that are Nazis and the one of them turns, he goes, are we the bad days?
Starting point is 00:14:10 And like, in this movie, obviously the Americans are the bad guys. But you could very easily make a movie where the Japanese were the bad guys because they were terrible to the Chinese and the Chinese, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, the the the the the the Chinese, the Chinese, the Chinese, the Chinese, the Chinese, the Chinese, the Chinese, their, their, their, the Chinese, the Chinese, the Chinese, the Chinese, the Chinese, the Chinese, the Chinese, the Chinese, the Chinese, the Chinese, the Chinese, the Chinese, the Chinese, their, their, their, they they they were, they were, they were, they were, they were they were they were they were they were they were they were they were they were they were they were their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their their, their their, their their their their their, their their their their their their their their their thiiiianananines, their, their, I was like, wait, does every nation the bad guy to somebody? We, I assume so. Yeah, right? That's what imperialism is, right? Well, even like, whatever the indigenous population is, or all of that, like, man, everybody's the bad guy. But like acknowledging that everyone is the bad guy, like, is it a thing where it's like, well, we can be the, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, the bad, the bad, the bad, the bad, the bad, the bad, the bad, the bad, the bad, the bad, the bad, the bad, the bad, the bad, the bad, the bad, the bad, the bad, the bad, the, the, we, we, we, we, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, th.. th. th. the bad guy, like isn't a thing where it's like, well, for all the bad guy, we can be the, no, no, we're all the bad guy.
Starting point is 00:14:48 Someone's got to be the bottom of the pile, I guess. It's true. But it's not going to play in Japan. No, no, no. Especially not in Japan. No, especially the previous boat sank? And immediately died? Immediately sinking. Nine deaths is a lot. I mean that's a lot of people to lose. Yeah. Because they, because they, they, they lose two boats and then they
Starting point is 00:15:13 save the one guy and then they lose that boat. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And then he washes up and that, and yeah, it's not a lot, not very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very, not very very, not, not, not very very very very very, not, not very very very very, not, not very very very very very, not, not very th, not very th, not very th. that, not very that, not very th. that, not very that, not very that, not very that, not, not, that's that's not, not, that's that's that that that that that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that. that's that's that's that. that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's a that's not, that's not, that's not, that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a lot of that's a lot of that's a lot of that's a lot of that's a lot of th. th. th. that's a lot th. the. that's a lot that's a lot that's a lot that's a lot of that's a lot of that's a lot of that's a lot of that's a lot of. Just keeps throwing them out there. One of them will make landfall. I mean, I kind of get it by the side. Like two, I kind of understand, like how's this gonna happen twice? But like, three? Yeah. Yeah, sink me twice. Shame on me. Sink me thrice.
Starting point is 00:15:35 Shame on everyone. Oh man, so and I love this like, what is this, is it Odo Village that we're in? Odo Island. Oh to Island, sorry. There's like the one kid who was just like the human alarm system for this island, you're just like screaming people's names and like. Who later in the movie seemingly gets adopted by O'Conn? Like he's like, because he's in Japan and like. Like it's a job. It's like working on the moon.
Starting point is 00:16:05 Yeah, this kid's trajectory is very interesting. But they, so Masaji watches up on shore after the like 15th boat has sunk. And he's like, like, they're not, he's, he's passed out or something on this raft. So one guy grabs him and then just slaps the shit out of this dude. He's been through trauma and it works. It works yeah. He's alive later. He's alive in the scene. I wrote his massagy dead and then just nope. Nope. He reacts to that slap. He beat him back to life. There's also someone in the scene talking about the Himalayan snowman footprints which I don't understand. I mean I I I I I I I mean I mean I mean I mean I mean I mean I mean I mean I mean I mean I mean I mean I mean. I mean. I that's. I that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. he. he. he. he. he. he. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He's. He's. He's. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's also someone in the scene talking about the Himalayan snowman footprints, which I don't understand. I mean, I assume that's a a Yetty? That's the professor. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Where he's like, I guess he's
Starting point is 00:16:51 basically saying like, well, we have this unexplained phenomena of Yeti's. Oh. So why wouldn't there be ocean dinosaurs? I feel like, I feel like, I'll thi to your argument is degrading your argument. A lot of the science in this movie is real iffy. Like how Dr. Armani later explains like, well, it must be Godzilla and here's why. You're like, you listen to it and you're like, huh? Not to get too topical, but I feel like it's a very RFK junior argument. I was like, I should be president. Oh yeah, I had a brain. Give me your money? He's like, I should be president. Oh yeah, I had a brain worm, but I should be president. Give me your money?
Starting point is 00:17:27 You know, one of the most depressing things about COVID was it was the first time I realized the world would not come together to fight the giant monster. Yeah. You're so right. What giant monster? No, you're right. Half of us would be pointing at it and the other half would be like, fuck you. He's fucking Godzilla deniers. He's friendly.
Starting point is 00:17:49 I'd vote for him. He only kills the people who deserve it. Can I read you my note here, Alan? Please, yep. First impressions of Godzilla? Looks pretty great. I thought looks pretty great. I thought it looked great.
Starting point is 00:18:06 I loved every single practical effect in this movie. I love the miniatures. I love that stupid puppet. I love his teeth. I think he looks great. Don't give me wrong. Saying that it looks like shit, as you know is not me belittling a thing. Oh no, you like it's celebrate looking like shit.
Starting point is 00:18:22 But like, again, I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I it, it, it's, I think it's a fucking tap, like, it's obviously a hand puppet when it comes over the mountaintop, like, but you're still like, yeah, man, let's go, let's fucking go, let's do this. You get why the people are running the other way. Yeah, oh my god, nothing's terrifying. Like when I watch John Carpenter's the thing and thin' thin, and thin, and thin, and thin, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, th. Like, th. Like, th. Like, th. Like, th. Like, th. Like, th. Like, th. Like, th. Like, th. Like, th. Like, tho. Like, like, like, like, like, like, like, I know those are Rob Boatine's hands that come out of its mouth and I'm still like, fuck me, I hate everything right now and I'm terrified. So scary. So yeah, I'm on board, I'm on board.
Starting point is 00:18:52 And I'mico sees it and fear faints and has to be dragged away. I promise, this is to the two very important men in my life. I promise to never fear faint and have to be dragged to be dragged to be dragged to be dragged to be dragged to be dragged to be dragged to be dragged to be dragged to be dragged to be dragged to be dragged to be dragged to be dragged to be dragged to be dragged to be dragged to be dragged to be dragged to be dragged to be dragged to be dragged to be dragged to be dragged to be dragged to be dragged to be dragged to be dragged to be dragged to be dragged to be dragged to be dragged to be dragged to be dragged to be dragged to be dragged to be dragged to be dragged to be dragged to be dragged to be dragged to be dragged you imagine what like Emico and Ocada's marriage is like after this movie? Like. He's already forgotten that she was traumatized. So, uh, dinner? Listen, I appreciate you for saying that you'll never fear faint. I will not make that same promise to you.
Starting point is 00:19:23 No, I'll drag you, don't worry. No, no, you can leave you. I don't expect, I've made myself ungovernable. No one can drag me anywhere. If the cops try to arrest me, I'm like, I'm going limp, good luck. I'm boneless! Like a child. Oh, man. So we learned that there's no fish. Nothing can be fished out of the ocean because of Godzilla fucking everything up and or the Americans. Yes. Because the H-bomb testing has destroyed its home. Basically that is what has roused Godzilla from his slumber, right? According to Dr. Yamani's theory, yes. The guy who believes in Yetis. I like Dr. Ymanny's theory. Does anyone have a better one? No? No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No, no, no, no, th. th. No, th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. No, no, thi. thi. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, thi. thi. thi. Nothing thi. Nothing thi, nothing thi, nothing thi, nothing thi, nothing thi, nothing thi, nothing thi. Nothing thi. Nothing thi. Nothing thi. Nothing thi. Nothing. Nothing. Nothing. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. to. thi. to. thi. to. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. Yamani's theory, yes. Right, the guy who believes in Yetis. I like Dr. Yomani's theory. Does anyone have a better one?
Starting point is 00:20:06 No. I mean, it's literally the theory of the film. It's the theory of the film. Right. Yeah. And like the accepted science of the franchise for the few stipulations is that he has to have a nuclear origin. Okay, I didn't know that. That's incredible. It's so like, this movie is so fucking sad. Like, oh yeah, heartbreaking.
Starting point is 00:20:31 Yeah. And they were like, no, you keep that with him forever. Yeah. Yeah. There was a scene later on in this movie, then I right? Yeah. We're gonna see fathers. Who died in the war clearly, right? Or yep. Because the Americans killed him. Because the Americans killed him. While Tokyo was burning, nine years after we fire bombed an island, right? Like it's just like... Along those lines, have you guys watch minus one? What is that? Godzilla minus one? No I haven't. Oh, we should do that on here. It's fucking fucking fucking fucking fucking fucking fucking fucking fucking fucking fucking fucking fucking fucking fucking fucking fucking fucking? It's. It's? It's? It's? It's? It's? It's? It's. It's? It's. It's? It's like? Yeah. the the the the the the they. the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the the th. th. th. th. Yeah? Yeah? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. the. the. Yeah. Yeah. the. the. Yeah. th. th. th. th. th. th. Yeah. Yeah. th. Yeah. th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's fucking fantastic. We'll get Joe Priscrib. Yeah. Yeah. It's set in 1945 right after the war.
Starting point is 00:21:11 And to Tokyo's been fire bombed out and again not to go not to believe at the point, but yeah. And it much, it in much broader strokes acknowledges that the war happened. Whereas like that one passing line on the train in this movie, in minus one, they're like, so the war just ended. Everything's fucked up. Here's why it's fucked up. Yeah, and by the way, now there's a godsell. It's fantastic. And it was made like for no money.
Starting point is 00:21:36 to $15 million. It looks god. the too. the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the wa. tho. th. the wa. the wa. the wa. the war. the war. the war. the war. the war. the war. the war. the war. the war. the war. the war. the war. the war. the war. the war. the wa. the wa. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the th. the the. the. the the. thea. tho. the the thoo. the the the the thooooo. the the the the the war. really beautiful. Did you get to see in the theater? Yeah. Yeah, it was amazing. I have not seen it since the theater, honestly. Oh, I watched it. It's on HBO. No, it's on Netflix now. Okay, cool. I watch it.
Starting point is 00:21:52 I watch it. Yeah, it's a public hearing or something that's happening where the scientists are like, we need to keep it quiet and this woman is like, no, the public needs to know and they're like, shut up, you dumb bitch. I love that woman. She's right, she's right, and she is strong in her belief. She's so punk. It's also funny because in the Raymond Burr version of this, they've edited, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th and thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, the, thin, the, thin, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th. thi, th. th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th. th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th. That, th. And, th, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, thi, thi, thi, thi, thin, thin, thi, the. And, thea. thea. thea. thea. thi. thea. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi,r version of this, they've edited it in such a way that like, it seems like, so she gets up and she yells at the officials
Starting point is 00:22:30 for not doing anything about this. And she's like, you have to let people know what's happening. Yes. That's her, that's her thing. And in the Raymond Burr version of it, she's kind of chastizing the scientist, like they kind of the, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, the scientists, like they kind of, they cut the scene a lot and make it look like she's yelling at the professor. And it's just like, no, that's not how this, what is going on right now, buddy? He's like, you know, it's America.
Starting point is 00:22:56 You gotta make the lady look dumb, it's the 50s. USA. I mean, that hasn't stopped. Well, it's, it's a a a happen. There you happen. I really like the traditional dance that happens on Odo Island. I thought that was really cool looking and they're like, this is a dance that explains how we used to sacrifice young girls to God so little. It's all we have left. God damn, I used to love sacrificing them young girl. Can't even sacrifice a young girl anymore. What is this world coming to? You know, it made Japan great again and start sacrificing.
Starting point is 00:23:30 Maga. Nope, no, mjjjjjjah. Sacrifice young girls. Fish are getting low. But I also like that in this, this there's a wind component to Godzilla? Like when he starts showing up places they get like those hurricane force winds that are coming through. Is that's because he admits radiation right? I guess I don't know. You tell me. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:23:56 I don't know. Goddama. I expected I looked at you like okay Joe Godzilla. I know far I don't have. Wikipedia. I know far too much about Godzilla, but that was, I had not actually made that connection. Oh, well, I'll just do it for you. Thank you. I don't know if it's true. I just made it up. This is also where we learned about the secret they shoot it is really effective, honestly. Yeah. Like, because like you get, you get, uh, Emico's scream, but you don't see what makes her scream, like, and it's a nice callback later. It is, it is good. But it also caused me to just refer to Sarah Zawa as a fish pervert. Yeah, he definitely has some weird ideas.
Starting point is 00:24:47 I feel like he should have prepped her for whatever it was she just saw. It was very upsetting her because she fear faints again. Well, I mean, this whole movie is like about traumatizing Emico. Like, it was the original sub-site. Before it was King of the Monsters, she was to like, the train and Godzilla, like, thi, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, the, the, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, th... Like, th. Like, th.. Like, th........, the Kong victim and, like, be hanging out of the train and Godzalai needs to, like, grab her and carry her around a little bit. That's all that's missing here. She does really struggle.
Starting point is 00:25:12 She's, I mean, she does as well well and the professor is immediately just like, well, it's a giant footprint. Look at that, y'all, right there. And everyone's like, hmm, I don't, I don't know, I see a trilobite. I'll be right there. Is it though? And the other guy's like, you're to get out of here. And the other guy's, the puss, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm. the, the, I'm, I, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, I. the, I. the, I. the, I. the, I. the, I. the, I. the, I. the, I. the, I. the. th. th. th. the. the. the. th. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the, the, the. the. theilobite. I'll be right back. Pick it up with my bare hands. He's like, don't pick it up with your bare hands. And he's like, oops, I guess I shouldn't. What's done is done?
Starting point is 00:25:48 Everyone has cancer at this point. I'm like, everyone's standing in the footprint. He's like, back up. He's like, I went to the same university as Dr. right now. They fire guns at Godzilla he does not give a fuck. Well they don't know. I mean you know that maybe guns will work. Maybe guns will work I mean that's your first thought right guns will work on Godzilla. As an American. As an American I say shoot it obviously it's how we're gonna stop those hurricanes. It's just firing wildly. Shoot at them. Could that work? Question mark? Put a pin in that. Let's come back to it. But if if. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I th. It. It. It. It. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I that that that that that that the th. I that that that that that that. I that. I that. I that. I that. I that. I that. I that. Starting point is 00:26:28 But if we nuke hurricanes that go away. I think that could work. Didn't Trump try to do that? Yeah, he said we were going to go into this hurricane. Well, I hate to agree with the man. I mean, it's why I voted. Oh, oh! That does sound like a way they would try to kill Godzilla, like, we're going to shoot this nuclear bomb into this hurricane and Godzilla's going to walk into it. I mean, they literally do it in minus one, don't they? Isn't that the whole thing of him like walking? Or am I thinking of the Godzilla TV show that came out recently with, oh I did not watch the Godzilla TV show that Kurt Russell? Oh I did I did th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th. There's a Godzilla TV show with Kurt Russell? Yeah, but it's like, it's like, oh man, this is set in the Godzilla
Starting point is 00:27:11 verse. You'll see him like twice over an eight-episode TV show. And no mothra, so go fuck yourself, I guess. Here for Goddella. There were a couple scenes I liked, you know, like, and I like the characters. I was entertained. And I don't watch a lot of TV that isn't pro wrestling, so like, it was something. Laying all your cards out there, Joe. People know this. People know this. Everyone knows their Joe. Know your Joe. We're told not to put search lights on Godzilla.
Starting point is 00:27:43 They make him angry. How do we know? How do we know they make him angry? We just know. Dr. Germani knows. Dr. Yermani is a very smart man, until he isn't. Well, like, he knows, and they convey this, but it doesn't get conveyed to the front line because the guy's busy. Right, that's right. I'm like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, I th th th th th th th th th th th, I th, I can't thi thi, I thi, I'm thi, I'm thi, thi, to to to to to to to to to told. thi, to to to told, told, told, to told, too, too, too, too, too, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. to. to. to. to. to. to. too. too. too. too. too. too. too. too. too. too. too. too. too. too. to. to. to. to. to., you're right. It's like, well, I'm doing this right now. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:05 Like, I can tell these people, and then they can tell these people. And so it's gonna take a minute to get up there. Yeah. Um, I also like that sometime around now we find out there's been 17 ships sunk. And I was like, what is everyone doing? Stop sailing?. Oh, stop. their. their. their. their. their. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thoing. thoing. thi. thi. thoing. thoing. thoing. thoing. tho. tho. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. It. It's. I. I. I. I's. I's. I. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm like, like, like, I. I. I'm. I'm. I'm like, the. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm like, there. Oh, come on. If there was really a monster, how long do you think they would still be shipping? Like, do you really think they would like stop commercial interests? Absolutely not.
Starting point is 00:28:29 What was the shipping route that got to? Suez Canal? Yeah. Like, remember what a big deal was? Like, we heard about that? I was like, can't go anywhere but go to work. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:48 Wait, you're not. Are you blaming capitalism for? No, you're certainly not. Not as an American, he would never say that. Of course, blaming the Irish. Cutting that out? Yes. I'm just going to bleep it all and they're going to have to figure out what, so it's going
Starting point is 00:29:05 to be a way worse. Don't, no you can't do that to us. Leave it all. Leave it all. Polynesians. Sorry, you guys said. You guys said that one. You guys said that one.
Starting point is 00:29:20 Talk to me about the party boat. It's like the ultimate hubris. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. the, the, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thoom, thoom, th, no. th, tho, tho, tho, tho, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Don't. Don't. Don't. It's like the ultimate hubris, right? The ultimate one? Ultimate hubris? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like it's like, wow, Godzilla is certainly dead. Let's have this party on the water. Let's get on the gateway clipper.
Starting point is 00:29:37 Also, hot lady's back for the scene. And she's like seemingly on a date with the guy from the train. Yeah, I think they either met there or. Wait, I didn't put this together. That's, I love that. Oh, I'm definitely doubting your Godzilla expertise. How did you not notice that lady was back with that man? I was writing notes. Joe read his notes on the boat
Starting point is 00:30:05 because they've nuked the ocean or something. So everyone can just go out on the boat and do a little dance, do a little shimmy shake. But they don't, because Godzilla has a bus in his mouth. And I like it so much when Godzilla has a bus. to the t Well that's he just shows up here. Okay my notes are all a mess so you guys talk to me. Oh yeah yeah yeah he like shows up here he like pops out of the water for a second like scares everyone they're like Godzilla like that's all. Right, gotcha. Then he goes back in the water and then then come back. And we're also getting information here about like the sort of like sea plot of the l''e-o'e-s' the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thr thr thr thi thi. th. th. tho' the thi. tho th out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out the th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the tip in the Raymond Burr one, there's a scene
Starting point is 00:30:46 where Raymond Burr just goes, last time I was here, Ema Coe was getting married to Serazala. Thank you, Raymond Burr. How can this guy be thinking about marriage when Godzilla's out here fucking up the place? Oh, would that be the first thing I'm in the today? today Katie, thii. Katie, that's, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th. th. thi, thi, thin, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi. thi. thi. thiiiiiiiiiiiiii. Should we fuck real quick? You want to bound? You want to bound real quick? There's again jumping ahead but like there's like this one scene where like like doctor where Dr. Ymoni's like ready to kill himself because they're trying to kill Godzilla and like oh godda is like I'm gonna go. Oh, to go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the to go go go go go go go go to tod tell. tell tell me tell me tell me tell tell tell tell to tell to to to to tell to to to to to to they they they trying to kill Godzilla and like, Ogada is like, I'm gonna go talk to him tonight about us. Starting point is 00:31:35 Boy, so they're also the scene where, yeah, yeah, that's right. Because, because I'm gonna tell you to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to goe, goe, goe, goe, goe, goe, goe, to go, to go, to go, the go, goe, goe, goe, go, go, go, go, go, go, it'll go, it'll go, it'll go, it' it' it'll go, it' it'll go, it' it'll go, they it' it'll go, they it' it' it's they it's they it's they. And she's like, oh, gotta you gotta start listening to people. He's so pretty though. He really is. Wait, is Dr. Yamani Emico's dad? Yes. Okay, I just had a moment of like, wait, what if he's just their teacher? Oh, there's also the really saddse the s sad s sad Imaco has just come back from Sarazawa's house and she's like fucking sobbing in a corner and he comes home and he's like where's I'm right here and I brought you tea and it's just like no one's here to support you I'm so sorry. Oh no no no no. Because because oh God is like, what, is everything okay?
Starting point is 00:32:27 And she's like, yes, and he's like, all right? Great! I'm glad you said yes. A lot of my notes are just like, quit crying, Yviko. I'm gonna play with our adopted son now. Are you my da da da da? Are you my new dad? I hope I don't watch you get beat back to life on the seashore. He lives.
Starting point is 00:32:54 Ay, ayah. Ay, ay. So, oh, before she finds out what his research is, she takes the reporter there to interview him, to interview Sirus Hala. The reporter who looks like Shemp Howard, if you look at him right. He wore bird in the 70s. Yes, I was. Yes, I was.
Starting point is 00:33:24 He looks just like, Hike. I watched a lot of Three Stooges, the child. And an adult, really? Yeah, I was watching them with your husband. We like, we're going to watch all of them. We made it like, six shorts in. How can you watch all of them, Joe? We got up through like the second season of Batman 66. That's a lot of tha thiiists. thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi that's that's that's that's that's that's thi thi that's thi that's thi that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's. I I I that's. I I I that's. I I I I that's. I I I I I I I that's. I I I I I I that's. Starting point is 00:33:45 That's a lot of episodes. We got pretty far. That's not the three stooges, you just switch subjects. It's just talking about other stupid things. I'm talking about, yeah, I'm talking about me and Rob's focus when we really. I got you. I mean, there was a reason that the three stuages is thes is thes is thes is thes thes thus is thus is thus is thus is thus is thus thus thus is thus thus thus thus thus thus thus thus thus thus thus thus. We thus thus. We their their thus. We will thus. We thus. We will the. We will It's not bingeable. You're not like what will happen next week. Hold on a way. It's the bear.
Starting point is 00:34:12 Gotta watch it all as soon as it comes out. And the three stooges. That's right. That's the two things that like. time to binge. People like. People like the reporter. When they're going to like see Serozaa, Emaic goes like, he can be pretty moody. He's short can though. He only has one emotional setting and it's miserable. He's like Robert Smith. Yeah people think Robert Smith. Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:34:45 The media creation, Robert Smith. Yeah, exactly. The media creation, yeah. I just cannot be interested in their love lives though. Like, I want to see Godzilla. He's here messing shit up. I don't care about their love lives. But what if they're like fucking in the foreground on God's
Starting point is 00:35:01 just walking by the window in the background. Godzilla's like looks in and is like, ugh. I would like to note there is in the entire Godzilla series from 54 until they stop it in 74. There's one male to female kiss in it. Whoa, really? There's only one. Really. Is it in Kong versus Godzilla versus Kong? No, it's, uh, in Monster Zero. It's, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, what, the. the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the the the the the the the giz. Oh, the gonz. the goze's is, the goze god is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is there is is is the the the the g is is is is is is is is is is is is is the the the g is is is is is, the the the the the the the the there is, there is, there, there, there, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the-go. Oh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, the go, uh, uh, the gozo. Oh, uh, the goze. Oh, the go, the Kong? No, it's in Monster Zero. It's, what's her name? Kumi Muzino is her last name. Kumi Muzino and, oh what's that American actor's name?
Starting point is 00:35:35 Tom Selleck. Tom Selleck. Ah, I'll Google it. It's okay. We don't do facts on the show. Cut that one. That's fine. So where are we with this? My notes are all over the place. Reporter.
Starting point is 00:35:54 Yeah, they go, he goes to interview him, seriously. that was giving him no information. No, why would he? And the guy's like, that's that's that's all you got, I won't press you. Goodbye. He's like as a reporter. She's like, you're getting through to him, just keep trying. So yes, then we get the, the, the, the, the Godzilla was shot by guns, Godzilla with a train in his mouth, but the aforementioned.
Starting point is 00:36:20 That first attack is good though, they like, keep it brief, and it's like kind of haunting, like every scene like, and like every scene where like he's, he's there and you see people running to get black and white, like the mat work works so well and it's like haunting, like that just people are just running and tear from this monster that's slowly walking towards them. Even him like silhouetted in the ocean looks fantastic. Yes, his backlighting is great. I do have like a bit of like lament because they originally wanted to do this as stop motion, but there just wasn't the time or the money to do it. And I was like, it's better. What's that?
Starting point is 00:36:56 I think like, doing Harry Housin's stop motion on this would have been fucking amazing though. I think it would have been really great. Because, because, because, because, I th because, I th because, I th, like, like, like, like, like, I th, like, like, like, like, like, like, I th, I th, I was like, I was like, I was like, I was like, I was like, I was like, I was like, I was like, I was like, I was like, I was like, I was like, I thi, I was like, I was like, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I thi, I thi, I thi, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, I thi, like, like, like, though, like I think it would have been really great. Because there's one scene of stop motion animation. The car crashing. When his tail is like whipping through the building. Yeah, that's that's stop motion. There's a car crash scene too. Oh really? Yeah, there's like two crashes.
Starting point is 00:37:17 There's in one of his attacks, there's two car crashes. And I rewound it like like it like like like like the first it like the first th. I th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. When thi. thi. thi. the their their their their their their their their their their their their th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. the. the. the. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. the. the. times of like I was like that first one is practical effects that second one stop motion yeah yeah but again a tribute to this movie like everything that doesn't directly have people in it is miniatures yeah and it still looks great I love it it's really like engaging there's only like a few scenes they're like uh and like even those you're like it was 1954 like this is pretty pretty fucking amazing. Oh yeah, totally fun. Yeah, yeah. So what is their big plan? They're like, listen, we gotta stop this Godzilla.
Starting point is 00:37:52 So what if we put electricity in the ocean? I mean, what could go wrong? I don't know, seawater, pretty fucking conductive if I'm not mistaken. Look, they already don't have fish, Alan. I mean really what could go wrong? So instead of doing that they just put up a bunch of electric towers around the town? Yeah he walks right into those power lines like a dumbass. I mean it could work right? Like they don't know. Sure. They've never tried this before. Now the best part is they use like a dumb ass. I mean, it could work, right? Like, they don't know. They've never tried this before.
Starting point is 00:38:26 Now, the best part is, they use the exact same plan in Kong versus Godzilla. But this time it works. Yeah. It somehow repels him in Kong versus it. It's like a very convenient plot device. I just saw my note that right before he walks onto the land. I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, the the the the th, th, th, th, th, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, th. th. th. th. th, th. th. th, th. th. th. th. th, tho, tho, tho, tho, is tho, is tho, is tho, is tho, tho, thoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. the, the, th walks onto the land, I just have a note that says, I like the Godzilla's just being a little bitch and splashing around on the bay. He's out there, the guy like,
Starting point is 00:38:50 who could barely move his arms, just gonna like, ah, ah, ha ha ha! At first it was stupidly heavy too. I'm sure. Yeah, they put so much a rubber on top of him. Oh man, every time I see like one of these movies, I just think about the scene in Pee Weesvig Adventure when he rides his bike through the Godzilla movie being made. So good. When I was a kid like saying that, I wanna be on that set.
Starting point is 00:39:17 Oh yeah, for sure. I wanna be on this. I wanna watch fucking twisted sister on a load of a car. fucking twisted sister on her own load of a car. Hell yeah. See no evil don't you hear, no evil don't you lay no evil down on me. You're gonna burn in hell. It's very good. Very, very good. So this is the first time that we see his radioactive breath.
Starting point is 00:39:37 Yes. Which is another I think like terrifying scene. Sure. Because again, the close upup head they use is all kinds of fucked up. Yeah, yeah. And so scary. Like, they, like he spits it out and his heads move, ugh. And he just kind of like opens his mouth, it shoots out and they're like, well, what's that? And then they show the effects of it and it's just lighting everything, people just like, theyfix and blowing everything up. People just like, like, they- like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the, like, like, like, like, like, of the few movies where he actually like shoots fire at people like usually it's buildings or monsters. He takes out a sidewalk full of people. Sidewalk full. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:12 Like twice I think. And I was also stoked because I didn't like I know this is a thing in later movies and especially in like newer like Godzilla mi and all of those like Kong and Godzilla movies, his spines light up. And in this movie his spines also lit up when he was doing the radioactive breath. They generally do it through the series but it's really well done here and it's like really distinctive because it's black and white too. Yeah. Yeah. The glow of it is really, yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:39 Almost like they went in and like scratched the cells on the film or something. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It looks really cool. But I was like, oh, I'm excited to know that like, because it's been years and years and years since I saw this movie. So do you had seen it before? Oh yeah, for sure. At this point, Godzilla chomps up a radio tower and kills a bunch of a bunch of members of the press. And they're like, thi, their, their coming up the stairs when the guy's just like and he's coming towards us he's gonna take the building go this is gonna be my last report oh my god! Goodbye mother! They go Santa Santa Santa! And how they're like dog-oed and fine if he ran out of that tower and reported more stuff later. We didn't need that minute to minute. We knew he'd eat you. So this is where we get the we're going to join Daddy. Ugh.
Starting point is 00:41:31 Oh, she's so fucking bleak. And it's so bleak. It's so sad. It's so, oh. I think it's the second sad of scene in the movie. It's the first side of scene. When the after the attack, when they show the destruction, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, they. Wee, they. Wee, they. Wee, they. We were, they.s, they.s, they.s, they.s, they.s, they.s, they.s, theya, theyft, they.s, they.s, they.s, they.s, they. We're, they. We're, they. We're, the after the attack, when they show the destruction, and all the triage and stuff, and all the little girl, the choir of little girls are singing,
Starting point is 00:41:51 that part like makes me want to cry. The part that got me was when the little girl is crying over her mother's body. Oh yeah, yeah. And the last we picked up by another woman who's just cradling her. I was like, I can't fucking do this th. th. th. th, th, th, th, th, th, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, their, the, the, and then, and then, and then, and then, and then, and then, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the the, the, the the the the they.. And, they. they. they. they. they. they. the the they. the the the the, they. when Emaco's trying to get anyone to pay attention to her, and they just refuse. But they both want to marry her. They don't want to talk to her. They're not going to listen. Look, they're going to get married.
Starting point is 00:42:16 They're not going to fucking listen. And this is where we get that Godzilla in silhouette just fucking everything up and it's gorgeous. And black and white has, there's just this artistry, just watching things in black and white that sometimes color just can't. It covers up the mistakes but at the same time gives like that creepy feel that you, yeah, like you say. And it gives you like stark contrast to things and like you can get like the deeper contrast and like there's like the stills from Dracula and Frankenstein behind you on the wall and like just looking at those and like those stark blacks and whites and like really
Starting point is 00:42:56 pops it makes things like very distinctive looking yeah I didn't notice those but I love they don't scare you. No, I love the Universal movies. We had a band based on Bella Lagosie at some point. Yeah, that's right, well, 8 Man was about Bellogosy. Sure. I feel like we watched a lot of Bellogosy movies, and then we were like, let's write a song. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, I had this kick this this this kick this kick this kick this kick this kick this kick this kick this kick this kick this kick this kick this kick this kick th th th th k Yeah. And you can get like 40 of them on a DVD for two bucks. And it's just him in every role.
Starting point is 00:43:27 Like how, how Bella Ligosey? What's the one that the Bellogosy and the Brooklyn gorilla that's got the. Is that eight man? I think that's something different. There's like one that the that that that that that that that that that that that that that's like one that that's like one that's like one that's like one that's like one that that's like one that's like one that that's like one that's like one that's like one that that that that that that that's like. Jerry Lewis and Dean Martin impersonators in it. Oh, I don't know if I've seen that one. I feel like we're like moving into Abbott and Costello territory. Oh yeah, I'll talk Abbotten Costella all day.
Starting point is 00:43:53 Oh boy. I'm here with two men from the 70s. Somebody call the police. We do, we haven't done an episode of not. No. Oh, I haven't watched that movie in a long time. You can do it for your birthday. But not any other time. Thanks, Mom.
Starting point is 00:44:11 You get one yes day. So yeah, he's just ripping shit up and then just fucking everything up. He gets mad at a clock. Who doesn't? I haven't know this is why isn't the fish pervert helping? Yeah, why isn't the fish pervert helping? Because he's got this secret research? Yeah. Which could solve the problem. But maybe he could come up with another way to solve the problem? Maybe he could come up with another way to solve the problem? I mean he's not doing anything. Fair. But he's an oxygen researcher.
Starting point is 00:44:47 He is an ox... Is that his job? Yeah, he was trying to... When they go back and they show the scene again, when she's explained, when Emma was explained to O'Gatta what's going on? He explains that he was just trying to research oxygen. I see. What's the name of his weapon? It's like the oxygen it has a destroyer. The oxygen destroyer. I was like
Starting point is 00:45:11 is that a bad translation? No no no they use that. So fast forward to 195 when they made Godzilla versus Destroya you may have remembered them showing Godzilla dies on CNN and stuff like that. It is... who could forget? when they made Godzilla versus Destroya. You may have remembered them showing Godzilla dies on CNN and stuff like that. It is, who could forget? Well, I remember. It was a Sienna, 9-11, Godzilla dies. Where were you when Godzilla died?
Starting point is 00:45:34 Right? He's crying was where I was. So he fights, and the movie is literally called Godzilla versus Destroyer. And he fights a monster spawned from the use of the ox and destroyer. th. th. th. to forget. to forget. th. th. th. th. th. th. It th. Who th. Who th. Who th. Who th. Who the th. Who th. Who th. Who th. Who th. Who th. Who th. Who they they tho, who th. Who th. Who they they they can't, who can, who can, who can, who can, who can, who can, who can, who can, who can, who can, who can, who can, who can, who can, who can, who can, who th, who, who th, who th, who th. Who, who th. Who, who th. Who, who th. Who, who th. Who, who th. Who, who th. Who, who th. Who, who th. Who, who th. Who, who th. Who th. Who thi, who they the thi, who they they the they the they the tho they the thooo they they tho they they thooo tho tho thi, who thi is literally called Godzilla versus Destroyer. And he fights a monster spawned from the use of the ox and destroyer 40 years prior in Tokyo Bay. Emico makes a return appearance in it. It's, yep. Emico comes back. No, Ogata. I think is dead at that point in time. Hopefully she's divorced him. He died of not listening to her.
Starting point is 00:46:03 She's like, don't walk into traffic. I'm going to talk to your father. Oh, jeez. So she has to tell one boyfriend about the other boyfriend's research. That's the only way this is the only way it can end up, right? Are we there yet? Yeah, this is when we learn that Serozao's great weapon is that he bubbles the flesh off of fish. Yeah, brutal. Also like she gets really upset by that. You eat fish! Like what are you so fucking sad about? She's so sensitive flower. She's so sensitive. You can't
Starting point is 00:46:35 make friends with fish? What do you do, lady? You know, earlier that day was just hanging out with a fish in my laugh, patting it? And then all of a sudden... My other boyfriend killed it, turned it into nothing. Boyfriend number one. And I was like is that the way oxygen works? The oxygen just bubble your flesh off? So I think he suffocate it so the fish suffocate first. Uh-huh. And then they bubble your flesh-up. But then they liquefy for some reason. Yeah, that's confusing. Mother and water. Ah, science. I have a note that just says science talk.
Starting point is 00:47:12 Oh, there's a lot of good science talk in this movie. Yeah. And here's where we learn that, what's his name, Emmettco's first boyfriend? Sirzaa is like a real Oppenheimer. He just can't be trusted with the power, right. that. that's, right. that's, right. th. th. thi. thi. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, their, thi, their, their, their, their, their, their, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi. thi. thi. thiii. thiiiiii. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. like a real Oppenheimer. He just can't be trusted with the power, right? It's heartbreaking. I have become a destroyer of fish. Yes. Well, he like, you know, he feels bad about like the power that he's created.
Starting point is 00:47:33 I feel like he can be trusted with the power. I mean, I guess he proves at that fight with Ogata. Who's a fucking idiot? Where Ogata's a good blade job, Ogata. He's like bleeding everywhere. Was he wearing wristbands and he pull a razor blaze. I assume so. Can I ask you a question? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:47:56 Do you think that in movies when people are bleeding it's because they bladed? I mean, only good movies where they want to make it look real. Let's see, there's no holds part. Yeah. Oh God, pro-wrestling is everything and everything is pro-wrestling. You know, Biden could probably stay in the race if he bladed on national TV. I would respect Joe Biden more if you were bleeding. Wait, no, because there was a debate before he became a resident when he burst a blood vessel in his one eye and that wasn't why anyone voted for it. I don't know him bleeding from his forehead and just being
Starting point is 00:48:31 like, I'm gonna give you abortion back. I'd be like, fuck yeah man, I'm here for it. The cream rises to the top. That would be enough for me. Yeah, a hundred percent if he would just fucking sell it. He needs to just go full-on insane. That's the only way we salvage this election, you heard it here first. I will personally deliver a rocket pop to every house of this nation. One rocket pop and a bag of knives. You have to fight over a rock pop. That's America, baby.
Starting point is 00:49:04 You got my phone, baby. You got my phone, you got my vote baby. Dark Brandon! Give the people what they want. Sorry, took us off topic with the Hagata's play job. This is our show. This is our show. This is the proof that Joe's never listened to the show.
Starting point is 00:49:22 Obviously. Back on topic? No, we don't do that Joe's never listened to the show. Honestly, so you're like, back on topic? No, we don't do that. We don't topic. You guys aren't dropping a lot of facts. I'm not drawing. Oh, you do have a shirt that says being fun is better than knowing things. Interesting.
Starting point is 00:49:33 We've sold a lot of those. I know. I to the can't the can't their can't their can't their can't their can't their can't their can't their can't their can't their can't their can't their can't their can't their can't their can't their. Yeah. Yum, yum, yum, yeah. On a replacement stock. Yeah. I love that movie and the replacements. I have written here many of these Japanese school girls have my same haircut. Feels good, man. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:49:57 Y'all wear it well. Yeah, yeah. They all have the same outfit on. There's like hundreds of them. Yeah. Oh, we made that joke in my notes.. It the the the the the the the th. It th. It's th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, that that's. Yeah, that that that that that tha. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah of them. Yeah. Oh with the choir. Yeah, wild. Having sad choir times. Yeah. Oh I made that joke in my notes oxygen destroyer of worlds. There you go. So in order to solve the Godzilla problem, what needs to be done? Someone explain to me what's happening here because I'll defer to our expert. So it's clear that we cannot defeat Godzilla with
Starting point is 00:50:25 conventional weapons, right? So the only weapon known to them in 1954 that they think may defeat Godzilla is this oxenger and destroyer that Sirazawa has created. Now, Serozawa of course doesn't want to use this because then the world will see it and they will know he has invented this great weapon and as he says that, you know, the human body is weak is the is the is the is to toe is toe is toeauauauauauau. to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the to to to to to to the the to their. their. their-up. their. their. their. their. their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their. their. their. their. their. their their their their their their their their their the. the. toe. thea. thea. toe. toe. toe. toe. toe. toe. the the the their their their their their their know he has invented this great weapon and as he says the you know the human body is weak and they might torture it out of him, you know, force him to build it again. So he doesn't want to show them the oxygen destroyer. So obviously we have the girls with Katie haircut singing and that can... That's their credit.
Starting point is 00:51:00 Girls with Katie's same haircut the Katie choir if you will and that obviously that and the sadness and the the scenes of all the bodies and stuff you know convince Sir Zawa that he should use the weapon and the funny thing is amico you can tell immediately knows Sirzawa is done yeah he makes that decision like nobody else knows Ogotta's like all right great we'll do it together we're gonna use it to. we're the the the the the the to to the weapon. we're to use the weapon. we're to use the weapon the weapon. we're the weapon. to use the weapon. We're the weapon. We're to use the weapon. We're to to the weapon. We're the weapon. We're the the the to to the the th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the the the the the the the the the th. We're the. We're the. the. the. the. threat. the. threat. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the.'s done when he makes that decision. Like nobody else knows. Ogotta's like, all right, great. We'll do it together. We're gonna use the weapon.
Starting point is 00:51:31 But yeah, she's also like this solves my two boyfriend problem. She does not object to it particularly strenuously. She's like, well, I was going to marry the cute one. I was hoping that maybe you would die. This one has two eyes. That's terrible. Cut it! No! Oh, come on, that was my best joke of the... If you cut any of the things that you say you're cutting, I'm going to be furious
Starting point is 00:51:56 with you. I'll just have to bank on you not listening back to this episode. Motherfucker. I will, I'll tell you. He left all the racist stuff in, Katie. Not everything else, it's a three-minute episode. Just like the Irish. The fucking Irish. It's gonna be so weird when I bleep the word Irish. Please don't. You will lose us our jobs. So anyway, so yes, so... I love that the clamoring news pool too while they're doing this, like they're doing the plan.
Starting point is 00:52:33 I feel like that's a staple of these movies as well of like the clamoring news pool, the clamoring government pool. Of course, yeah, they have to like, they have to stand around, they've got to take photos. Hubbub, hub, hub, hub, hub, hub, hub, hub, hub, h the, h the, h the, h the, h hub, hub, hub, hub, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, they, they, the, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, th, th, th, th, tho, tho, tho, tho, too, too, too, too, too, tha, thooo, they. Clam, they. I they. I take photos. Hubub, hubbub, hubbub, hubbub, hubbub. And that same reporter's there, Shemp. Shemp, wait, I thought Chimp died on the tower. No, Shemp didn't do it on the tower. Shemp, Shemp is there on the boat. So they also skip that whole part. Well, I mean, yeah, the movie skips that whole part. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:53:08 But I mean, that's why we skipped. That's the point is like, that whole park gets skipped and you're like, how did this get approved? We've established this is going to kill all gonna just let these people use it in the bay, sure. I mean, when Godzilla's here, desperate times and all. All right, yeah, I have a new theory about why CirrusaO was willing to die at the bottom of the ocean. So the only way he could not was watching fish die and this is going to he'll never top this again. The ultimate auto erotic aspensation. He's holding that thing above his head like John
Starting point is 00:53:47 Cusack and say anything. Yeah. You might be right about that. There's a whole like other perspective of this movie to be made about this fish pervert. Dies with a super nut at the bottom of the ocean. A super nut. It's actually the super nut that kills Godilla. It's not the oxygen defibrillator. What is it, oxygen destroyer? Oxygen destroyer. Yeah, his huge nut kills a giant lizard creature.
Starting point is 00:54:18 That's a hell of a nut. It's a weird thing to stay in front of my cousin. He's just looking pointedly away from me. I had to burp. I'm staring at the floor going, that's a hell of a nut. It's very good. Oh, Godzilla, I had no idea you would be this funny. So they find Godzilla, he's sleepy at the bottom of the ocean. He's gotta live too, you know? Just take a little nappy nap.
Starting point is 00:54:48 It's like the nicest Godzilla looks in the whole movie too. Yeah, he's just down there like lamenting the loss of his home. He's just trying to find a new home. Yeah, I mean he is not, like, taking the like 10, thousand foot view of this, this, th, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, to, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, the the the thi, thi, thi. thi. thi. the thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. the thi. thi. not the bad guy. He's not the bad guy. He's not the bad guy. He just exists. He's, yeah. And then in later movies they kind of portray him as a tragic character in some ways like. And then they bring Godzuki and then they bring Godzuki on board and. Oh, that's that's that's not canon. No, we won't talk about it. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. He's not. He. He. He's not. He's not. He's just. He's. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He's. He's. He's not. He's not. He's not. He's not. He's not. He's not. He's not. He's not. He's not. He's not. He's not. He's not. He's not. He's. He's. He's. He's't know what Gatsuki is. It's in the Cartoon. I don't know about that. It's not, it's not.
Starting point is 00:55:27 No, we won't talk about it. We don't just say. It was basically like Scooby-Doo with Godzilla. It was real weird. Oh, Godzilla's not a friend. No, he was sometimes your bud, you've seen this. What's that? Goddell is sometimes your buddy, you've seen this.
Starting point is 00:55:47 Like, how many times, Mena? How many times? How many times? How many times? Oh my god I can't handle that Godzilla fucked somebody. Who's Mini's mom? It's a little wrong dog. Well, I mean, it's not necessarily. He could have been adopted, it could have been just another Godzilla.
Starting point is 00:56:15 It could just be like, asexual. How do reptiles fuck? I don't know anything about this. They just super nut on eggs, right? I guess you're right. So Godzilla Godzilla Godzilla Godzilla Godzilla Godzilla he does. Got a new t-shirt coming out. Godzilla Nuts on the back of Corsi-nuts. That one's not gonna be a big seller. Is that the radioactive? Do you need the kryptonite condom that that Superman has to wear for that to work? Let's talk about comic books on the the c. the c. the c. the c. their the c. their th. their th. th. th. Oh th. Oh thi thi thi thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. to toys. tzea. tzea. tzea-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a tho-a thi-a thi-a thi-a thi-a thi-a thi-a-a-a-s. thi-s. toda-s. t-coo-coo-coo-coo-coo-coo-coo-coo-coo-coo-coo-coo-coo-coo-coo-coo-coo-coo-coo-s. t-som that that uh that Superman has to wear for that to work? I'm gonna talk about comic books on this machine box. Sorry. Wait, tell me more about a Krypton Knight condom. Is that anything? It's a mall rats reference.
Starting point is 00:56:50 Oh, oh, okay. I thought I might be real. It wouldn't surprise me these days. Ohthe Ben Affleck and the other guy, you know? Ben Affleck. Ben aflack. The star of Dazin confused. Yeah, Benflak. I can't say it right. I can't say it right. I can't say it right.
Starting point is 00:57:14 Benafleck. Ben Affleck. I can't hear anybody say Armageddon without thinking that they're saying, our Megaton wrong. Does that Godzilla fight that monster? I think that's who he made love to to make that child. Meadia. And Godzilla makes love. Does he look in the mirror? Don't do this to me.
Starting point is 00:57:37 So Godzilla gets all of his flesh bubbled off by the oxygen destroyer, while the one man's underwater with a flashlight, which I thought was hilarious. What about their diving suits? They're all torn up? How doesn't they're wearing those huge helmets too, the like giant metal? Oh God, what a nightmare? Also, did you notice that Emica was running the back up and she was like, no, I have a two boyfriend problem. Shouldn't the Navy be talking about it? She's just here with a knife cutting at the movie.
Starting point is 00:58:10 She's like, oh, he sacrificed himself to death of the bottom of the ocean with a bubbled off flesh of a Godzilla who's definitely dead. the today at the bottom of the ocean with a bubbled off flesh of a Godzilla who's definitely dead will never ever come back Never actually say I hope you two will be happy farewell or did I just write that down? He does oh mother he does oh goda is now like couldn't stand this dude hated his existence and now is like he has lost a brother This is the most he's ever felt in his life. I mean, he's porking his girl, but still... This is why you can't have two boyfriends. He wished us happiness together.
Starting point is 00:58:52 You only get one. One of my final notes is everyone is happy, Godzilla's dead but sad for the dickhead Cirrus' owl. That's it. My last note is, reporter kind of looks like Champ Howard. Also one of my last notes is that my date of birth is closer to the release of this film than it is to today and that boggles my mind. Oh yeah, this was 20 years before your birthday and you're 50. Yeah, and you're 50.
Starting point is 00:59:23 It's real different. It's closer to my date of birth too. Yeah, I know, I know, but it's just like that realization of like, oh no, like all this shit makes so much sense to me because I grew up not far after this happened. Right. This movie came out. It's like watching a movie from 2004. Yeah. Yeah, or why? Which seems like it came out like three years ago. Yeah, or when. Or when when when when when when when when when when we the war the war the war the war. the war. the war. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the th. th. th. It's, th. the th. It's, th. It's, th. It's to. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It. It's. It. It. It's. It. It. It. It's. It. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like, the. It's like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, the. It, or when we were talking about the Warriors with Perry and he mentioned the Rotary Dial Phone and I was like, oh no, I remember those. I did too, yeah. Yeah, Perry was like, wow, this movie's so old, it says a rotary dial phone. I was like, this movie's younger than Alan. I said I don't know I said no 90. Yeah Jill. Do you know about the rating system on this? Oh yeah Katie told me in the Uber
Starting point is 01:00:12 over. I said it's 1 to 10 but it doesn't really matter or mean anything. Jill what your rating of this film? Oh well I mean you had all night to think about it. I don't know what to tell you. I was... I've had like two hours. You literally had your entire life. Your entire fucking life, though. Your entire fucking life. I mean, in some ways you can argue it's the greatest film ever. I mean, you kind of have to, and in that way it has to be a 10 because I mean Godzilla's the greatest franchise ever but from my personal enjoyment standpoint I would say I put it to like an eight
Starting point is 01:00:48 because I think it's a fantastic film I think the scars of my childhood will all of like how much this terrified me as a kid will always like take it down a little peg but that's good it's good to be scared it's good to be horrified but I don't really like horror movies. No, you're not a scared guy. No, you're not chasing that dragon. Katie. I'm also going to give it an eight. I think it's a really well done, beautiful film. I think Godzilla looks great. Yeah. I think it's heartbreaking. Yeah. I mean when you stack it up against all of the other like monster movies of this era, like this like is a fucking home run. Blows them out of the
Starting point is 01:01:30 water. I'm gonna give it a goddamn 10. Oh you're doing it. Yeah. I think it is like, especially like I grew up with the Raymond Burr version of this. So like as did I finally got to see the O.G. and it was like, oh, they made a real movie. Yeah. They didn't make this like schlocky thing. They made a real like heartfelt movie. And it's kind of like, it's like the black Sabbath of monster movies. Like, it like reset the template and like, okay, this is what we're all shooting for now. And no one else could hit it until maybe Godzilla minus one. That is an incredible assessment. And I very much agree with you.
Starting point is 01:02:08 Yeah. Great. Old man agreeing. Talking about bands from the 70s. Because it was so inspired by Kong and like it like, it really continued that lineage so well. Yeah, yeah. I'd like to read a quick email that we got. We also don't have a movie for next week.
