Episode Date: August 17, 2026

In this week's episode, we're mourning the loss of a real one in Sam Neill with the 1981 body horror/psychological thriller "Possession." Special topics for your consideration include: synthwave, sitt...ing perpendicular, ass-kicking chefs, bananas up for grabs, and Cincinnati.  This one reminded me a lot of my favorite David Cronenberg movie, "The Brood." Starting point is 00:00:01 Hey, Alan. Hey, buddy. I was... Hey, Katie, who does wear a ambulants with me. Hi, Alan, who does wear a ambulants with me. I feel like we both just went for an intro, and then we looked at each other with open mouths, and then I just started talking.
Starting point is 00:00:32 Can I tell you about a new song I'm writing for our emo band? I'll give you something to cry about. It's called, if I threw myself at your feet and yelped, would you still walk over me? A line from this movie. You know that I wanted to let you know that I am changing my last name? To what? Gluckmeister.
Starting point is 00:00:48 Glockmeister. Is that Margie's last name? Margie Gluckmeister. Margie, Margie Gluckmeister. Marget Margie? Marget Margie. Okay. Played by Margett Carstinson.
Starting point is 00:01:00 In case she got confused. Yeah. Margett, huh? Oh, no, it's Margie. Margie. This movie opens with a close caption that says ominous synth wave beat and I thought, fuck yes. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:01:13 Yeah. Soundtrack fucking rips. It rips. 1980s Berlin. Sad. Sad Berlin. Sad Berlin. And a baby Sam Neal.
Starting point is 00:01:23 Yes, please. Two of the most striking-looking human beings starring in this film. Yeah, you can't take your eyes off of him. An absolute porcelain doll of a lady. How's her skin look like that? Why does mine look like this? Because you have seen the sun. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:01:41 And then he got like smoothed out as he got older, but he's like got very like angular eyes. and, like, he just looks very, like... He looks feline almost. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, I would. Oh, God. Also, R-IP to a real one. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:00 I mean, I would have, like, 65 or whatever the fuck he was. I would have fucked him on the Dave's death. Sam Neal, baby. Not after, not after. That's not, that's not. Not doing that again. Come on. No, I learned my lesson.
Starting point is 00:02:11 Got a team of popsicle stick to it. You, uh... What? What do I what? You watch this on the Criterion? No, I watched it on your shutter. account. I kept wondering if you were looking at it to see how long it took me to get through it. You know, I did. Did you look at it this evening and be like, she's got to finish this.
Starting point is 00:02:28 We have a recording it an hour. No, I looked at it. When did I watch it? So watch it last night. So I was like, oh, I told him Shutter. Let me just go, okay, Katie's halfway through it. So I will just go watch it on Criterion channel and hope that they're the same cut. Oh, who cares if they're not? This movie's wild. So would you like to hear my artsy-fartsy area take on? this. Of course. That's why we have this fucking show. This movie is the emotional equivalent of a divorce to the scream painting.
Starting point is 00:03:01 Tell me more. Because it's just like, it's so overly, overly, overly melodramatic. Yeah, they really take this divorce hard. Both of them. Very hard. Very hard. Immediately go into psychosis. Yes. I mean, going through a divorce was one of them. of the low points of my existence. I'm doing great. You're doing great. I didn't know this is a movie about
Starting point is 00:03:26 divorce when I selected it. I wanted a Sam Neal horror movie. I saw this. I thought body horror. I thought, great. Sam Neal, baby. Let's do this. There's apparently a horror movie that's Sam Neal, Billy Zane, and Nicole Kidman on a boat. What the fuck didn't we do that? Called Dead Calm. Ah. Yeah. There's a X-Piles episode called Dodd Calm in German, I suppose. Oh. That's all I wanted to say. I'm really fine though, it's fine. Okay. I was like, wow, I'm having the best divorce compared to these people.
Starting point is 00:03:58 When I went into it, I was like, oh, no, oh, no, this is fucking absurd. There's no way she's going to see herself in this situation. I sent my ex, like, five memes today, you know, it's fine. I mean, yeah, I went through a subway screaming and doing an interpretive dance of what emotions look like. I mean, I miscarried my faith in the, in the T-Station, the Steele Plaza downtown, you know, just. Everywhere. Oh, I also fucked a squid man. Maybe I need a squid man.
Starting point is 00:04:25 Squid man. Yeah, maybe we should re-ignite the hype for ham-fisted, and we can decide whether or not I just need a squid man. Seems like it's working for her. It does. Until it isn't. Until it very much isn't working for her. Well, squid men. They're unpredictable.
Starting point is 00:04:47 Also, this was like, hey, what if I, like, say. Psychedelic Polish dude who did a lot of mushrooms Decide to make a Cronenberg movie. Yeah, this felt very much like the brood to me. Like she creates this thing with her, with her rage, her like impotent rage, not impotent rage, but her. Oh no, this is very potent rage.
Starting point is 00:05:06 This is rage with a fucking hard on. She wants to like change this person that will not change. Yeah. So she builds her own. Who is sometimes a squid man. I mean, according to the internet, people like that. People learn to that octopus stuff and that's good stuff.
Starting point is 00:05:26 Yeah. I don't, yeah. I'm not one for seafood except for the Eatans. Makes Feast of Seven Fish is pretty awkward if it was. Did you dip that in a pango? Sure, let's go with that. Yeah. What would, oh, never mind.
Starting point is 00:05:48 So we get young. Sam Neal showing up in a car at an apartment block in West Berlin. Cold gray West Berlin. Suitcases before rolling suitcases are trash. How do people travel? I can't rolling suitcase. You carry a suitcase like an old? I put everything in a backpack.
Starting point is 00:06:10 Oh, okay. Yeah. No, they're always too short for me. Oh, they got to make them for talls. Probably, but I also... You're a cool punk guy. You got a back guy. backpack. It's got a patch on it that says fuck the police. So he's met by his estranged wife.
Starting point is 00:06:27 Who's dressed like an Amish woman, but with very kiki boots. Yes. Or like someone's like fucking Nona or something. She just like looked like she should have come out and just been like, parogi. Yes. She's got like a gray dress. And this is the only time we'll see her wear anything other than the one dress. Yeah. And a shawl. And I want to say a babushka. Yeah. Yeah. Maybe. Maybe. I'm convinced that they're both ghosts from the jump That neither of them are alive during this entire movie No, that actually makes a lot of sense So they're mid-flight when they meet back up
Starting point is 00:07:01 They are They're away on business They are, but they have a shared love of their son Bob I hope he's related to Bob from a house by the cemetery Oh yeah, little Bob voiced by a 35-year-old woman That was so unnerving she says to Sam Neal
Starting point is 00:07:21 Oh this she is Anna and he is Mark Yes And Anna says to Mark Come and admire him Which is what you say about Lucy to everyone Oh no no excuse me He says to her come and admire him And I thought bro she had to admire him
Starting point is 00:07:36 The whole time you were away She's been admiring that child a lot And I do say that about Lucy You're right I also like that she just walks away And leaves him with three bags To carry into the house Yeah, well, he brought them that far.
Starting point is 00:07:50 Kids super loud, just making siren noises. Oh, yeah, kids these days and those days. I just have, I have this note so many times. They both are so striking looking. Yeah. So they're clearly going through a difficult time, but it appears that they're still fucking because they're nude in the bed when we see them,
Starting point is 00:08:09 or are they fucking? I don't know. I thought it, I thought, I took away that it was an attempt. It was an aborted attempt. Abortive attempt. Got it. Back to that impotent rage. Gotcha.
Starting point is 00:08:23 Because she was kind of like, dude, this, it happens. It's like, you know. I see. She asks him, were you unfaithful to me? And he says, the truth is not really. What does that mean? Just over the pants. Just, yeah, just heavy petting.
Starting point is 00:08:38 I invoked the heavy petting clause of our relationship. Remember that time you gave me Bernard up Peters as my hall pass? I met her finally. One of them says together, what do you feel now? And the response is, are you really interested? No. No. Yeah, this marriage sucks.
Starting point is 00:09:03 And that's what I kind of mean about. Like, it's just being that, that, that, that overly dramatic, the scream standing on the bridge holding your face. Like, it's just like, everything is just like, you would never say that to another human being. No. Even if you were, like, getting divorced from them and your tits out in bed. I feel like you could pause this movie, like, once every couple minutes, and she's doing that scream face. Yeah, for sure. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:28 So now he's, like, sitting across a table from a bunch of men, one of whom is wearing an eye patch? Yeah. Who are these men? The business conglomer that he does business for. What is his work? Yes. Okay. I don't.
Starting point is 00:09:43 Forensic accounting. I have no idea. Keep trying to pull them back in though. They really want to pull them back in. He's like, no, I got to deal with my family. This was giving me the vibes of a movie that you really disliked from very early on. Tell me. The kill list.
Starting point is 00:09:57 I didn't really dislike it. I was baffled by it. Okay. I remember you not like it. No, probably. I think I wanted you to love it. That's back when I was like, oh, if she doesn't love it, I've done something wrong. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:07 And I wasn't on antidepressants yet. So again, asterisks all over the place. Yeah. But it's just like that whole scene of like them being brought into that office to do the, like gets signed up to do the job. Right. And this was like him trying to get out and they're like, but what if we just pulled you back in?
Starting point is 00:10:22 And he's like, no, no, no, no. Yeah, come on, Corleyoni. I have to deal with my family. Yeah, family. The family that does not want you around. No, you and Bob doesn't seem that interested. No, and we will, we will occasionally just forget Bob exists entirely. So will they.
Starting point is 00:10:35 Mm-hmm. God, this is why we're fucked up. It's because this is how we were treated as children. Just left to our own goddamn devices. I kept thinking about the, uh, oh, man, the young girl from the uh warrens what's the their daughter oh um judy uh judy warren i feel like judy warren needs to play bass for i'll give you something to cry about or drums maybe well she's gonna have to play drums because i already i pay base that's all i got that's the only thing i can do nah come on what else am i
Starting point is 00:11:02 gonna play i can see you being like a real like henry rollins singer just out there and a pair of black shorts of the mic cord wrapped around your neck just going for it i don't think that's for me i like playing bass because no one looks at you except for when you mess up and then everyone looks at you and that kind of pressure is where I thrive. You know what I mean? I do. I do. As a man who's played bass in a band, I do understand.
Starting point is 00:11:25 Same as drums, really. Sam Neal's hands are massive, I noticed in the scene. Yeah, you know why? Huge crank that you will see later in this movie. I, okay. Tell me I didn't turn this down to 0.5 speed and then try to pause it on his crank because I did not get a look at it. No, me neither.
Starting point is 00:11:44 No. They did a very, very subtle hiding of the crank. I mean, it's hiding in a whole ass bush. Yeah. Yeah. So we get Chekhov's pink socks. A man says, does our subject still wear pink socks? End of scene.
Starting point is 00:12:00 Wait. Does that come back? Yes. I can't wait. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Remind me pink socks. I hope that you remember. I won't.
Starting point is 00:12:09 I won't. It's already gone. What are we talking about? How am I going to know when to bring it up? Because I don't know what you're talking about. in 1973, I did a thing. You weren't born. No, but God put me in my mother in 1973.
Starting point is 00:12:22 Oh, and your dad nutted in your mom. Good work, Waity. Oh, shout out to my sister who was listening to this podcast in her office at work with her office mate and had to turn it off because we started talking about fingering. Like, that's the tamest shit we talk about. I just expressed a desire to meet a squid man. So Anna says she needs to think about herself. A thing people say in divorces. Sure.
Starting point is 00:12:57 He is baffled by this. He has no idea why she would want to think about Anna. He cannot process her not wanting to take care of him. Yeah. Fucking men. Am I right? I agree. We're the worst.
Starting point is 00:13:11 Then he starts frisking his clothing in his closet, and I don't know why. I think it's her clothing. It's her clothing. He's looking through her stuff. Oh. Yeah, because he's like going through a jewelry box, and that's where he finds the postcard from. The best character in this movie. The best character, maybe ever.
Starting point is 00:13:26 Ever. Heinrich. I love Heinrich. I would absolutely be seduced by Heinrich. And he's weird drugs and dancing. It's like he found a hot Klaskinsky and just fucking ran with it. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:41 I don't, I've never acted before. No, I know. It's fine. You've got it, though. You've got that, you've got that, jeanne sequo. I think the director went, like, acting is like dance. And he went, is it done? Dance.
Starting point is 00:13:54 Yeah. Yeah. The postcard says, from Mindric. Right. I've seen half of God's face here. At the Taj Mahal. The other half is you. She is real pretty.
Starting point is 00:14:09 She is real pretty. Real pretty. Oh, man. So then he finds a postcard and he calls Marjit. Margie. Can we just call her Margie? Yes. What?
Starting point is 00:14:21 The subtitles kept coming up with Marjit on my TV. Yeah, my too. Are you just not understanding him trying to force that New Zealand accent down? I think that's what it is, yeah. But that is her name, M-A-R-G-I-T. Mar-E-R-G-I-T. I think the tea is silent. Mar-G-E-Ling.
Starting point is 00:14:39 And he calls her. And is like, you're her only friend, which like rough, rude. And this is the second person in five minutes to hang up the phone on him. Yeah. Well, he deserves it. He deserves it. He's trying to get Margie to make her come back, basically, come back to him. And Margie's like, yeah, of course she's fucking someone else, you dip.
Starting point is 00:15:00 Margie got rules. Yeah. Yeah. How do you think she breaks her leg? I don't know. Do you know her cast had a high heel, though? Yes. Why?
Starting point is 00:15:07 I don't know. That was the weird. I guess she was like, I'm going to wear high heels anyway. So they were like, well, I guess we got to make it even. That'll heal. It's just fine. You know what orthopedic surgeons love high heels? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:20 Orthopedic surgeons and people who put down marble floors. Oie. So, yeah, yeah, so he tells her that, or no, Anna calls him and says that they're over. Yeah, we're over, yeah. And he says, do you have someone else? And she's like, yeah, for a long time. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:40 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. He demands to meet her at a cafe. God, this scene is a fucking unreal. It's insane. We cut to the inside of the cafe. He's sitting at a table.
Starting point is 00:15:50 She sits at the table perpendicular to him. Such a power move, such a badass power move. And they both do the same thing where they just put their hands like on the side of the table like it's a pinball machine. Yeah. And you're like, what are they going to do? What's going to happen here? He says to her, I've decided not to see Bob. Right.
Starting point is 00:16:09 He offers her child support and that says, he's not going to see Bob. Right. What the fuck? Because he's going to mess him up, so he just doesn't want to deal with it. He sucks. He does sucks. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:19 He does sucks. Yeah. Yes. And this conversation goes great and nothing bad happens out of it. She says, if I knew he existed, he being Heinrich. Yeah. If I knew he existed, I never would have had Bob with you. And then Sam Neal trash is the place trying to kill her.
Starting point is 00:16:34 Yeah. Yeah. Gets taken down by three dudes who beat the shit out of him. Good thing these chefs are here. hold him down. The next time we see him, he has a stubble. Yes. And he looks unwell.
Starting point is 00:16:49 Yes. Like time has passed. Yes. He is shirtless and sweaty wearing only a suit jacket, to which I have written, hmm, yes, please. And he's lit in such a way that, like, he's translucent. Like, he is so unbelievably pallet. Yes, absolutely.
Starting point is 00:17:06 He looks like death. He looks like death. Yeah. And I think this is, this is where I have the note that says, is he a ghost? Because he gets a phone call and he's just going, ma, ma, ma, ma. Yeah, ma, ma.
Starting point is 00:17:17 He can't talk. And I was like, oh, you're a fucking ghost. You are not a human being anymore. You've shed this mortal coil. Those chefs literally killed you. I mean, they would have been well within their rights. Sure. Trash the place and was trying to kill a woman.
Starting point is 00:17:29 Yeah, yeah, yeah. It looks like he's going through withdrawal. Mm-hmm. He has like the dark circles and the sweat and everything, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And then he starts just like stalking around their apartment like an animal? Yes. Had he been there the whole time?
Starting point is 00:17:46 I guess because the apartment's trashed. But he blames Anna for having left Bob alone. Right, because he goes back, he's at a different apartment. Then he goes back to their apartment and finds Bob alone just covered in jelly. Jelly, yeah. Then I thought it was Bob that said my mom broke her leg and had to have a cast put on. But I guess it was Mark. who broke her leg.
Starting point is 00:18:11 Yeah. Why do we need this bit? Yes. Okay. Because, I mean, how are we going to get over two hours if we just don't include absolute nonsense? Okay. Fair enough.
Starting point is 00:18:20 I don't think it needed to be, but fair enough. Yes, yes. So Anna comes home. Wait, first we see he is this massive boat. Oh, yeah, yeah. It's the size of his entire body. And this was like a gift from Heinrich, right? Uncle Heinrich.
Starting point is 00:18:31 Yeah. Which is like your kid's been hanging out with this. Your wife's a fair partner. Yeah, yeah, who is not safe to have around children. You don't think Heinrich. a good uncle. Cocaine incarnate is not someone you want around your kids. Is that what he has from when he's like, I got this in India.
Starting point is 00:18:47 I was like, it's probably even cocaine. It's like some sort of exotic drug. It's adrenachrome. What do you have? It's actually I have armectin. Hold on to this for, I'm going to say about 40 years. And then it's going to come back. It's going to come back.
Starting point is 00:19:04 Joe Rogan is going to make a dime. Yeah. Make a mint. So, right. Then Anna comes. home and he's like, I can't live without you. And she's like, he's in a rocking chair, rocking very strongly. Yeah, parallel to the floor.
Starting point is 00:19:20 Parallel to the floor. And then she has a panic attack and he gets right up in her face. I wanted to punch him. I mean, she is wrong, but he is wrong too. Oh, yeah, yeah. There's no hero in this story. No. Before this, he undresses Bob to get him cleaned up.
Starting point is 00:19:37 And then he holds him and like kind of looks at him as though he's like, like very thin or he's just looking at him? I assumed he was going to have bruises or something. Yeah, but he doesn't. He just looks at him like that. And then when he undresses her, he looks at her the same way. And then later in the movie,
Starting point is 00:19:52 she does the same thing to him. Oh, you're right. I thought she was going down in that scene, but she's not going down. No, no, no. Why is that just a way of showing affection? And it's like they hold them and then they do this little squeeze on their back.
Starting point is 00:20:04 And he did it to turn. And I was like, those aren't our titties, dog. What do you do? You don't only squeeze the tits and the buns. You don't squeeze the sides. Nobody likes that. No one wants an auga on their love handles. Yeah, it feels bad.
Starting point is 00:20:18 Feels real bad. Oh, Titty Bill. It's in my notes. They're sad titties. Yeah. Because these are, I mean, they're not like you've been murdered titties, but they're like mid-argument titty. Yeah. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:20:34 You know, sometimes that's a power move, too. It's true. It's true. And then he puts her to bed after you understand. dresses her and like tucks her in tightly in the bed. So she can't get out, presumably. She's very thin. It's,
Starting point is 00:20:47 I, I would, I, I, I, I, I, I need a documentary of just the director telling them what to do in these scenes. Yeah. Yeah. Are you sure? All right. Okay. Their game for whatever nonsense he's doing. I mean, it is, it's a, it's a movie.
Starting point is 00:21:04 Yeah, for sure, for sure. Uh, so he wakes up and she's gone. Yeah. And the phone rings and it's Heinrich. Yeah. And he says, Anna is with me and she will stay with me. And then he lays back to, so Mark lays back down a bit. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:20 And there's a note next to his head that he had not noticed earlier. Right. That says, my love, I had to go talk to Margie, so I would never hurt you again, signed, my love. Yeah. What? Wait, are you my love? Or am I my love? If you could see the view that I could see.
Starting point is 00:21:38 Katie, don't do this to me. You can't quote Rollins back to me. Well, you said I had the whole thing with the rope racked, you know, the cord around my neck and the umbilical cord, whatever you're saying to me. You're always quoting from a liar by or low self-opinion or any of those songs off of Search and I can't remember the name of that album. Search and destroys the back tattoo. Anyway, Rollins band. Oh, a shout out to the person on Reddit who caught my As Factor for reference in the last episode. Fantastic. I don't even know what that means. Yeah. It's when I did the Milano Pony thing. I still don't know what that means. It's from a band Ask Factor 4.
Starting point is 00:22:12 They're from the Carolinas. So Heinrich lives with his mom, which we learn because Margie tells him, because she's always given the tea. She's kind of a shit friend to Anna. Or she's just tired of keeping her secret because she's like, oh my God, yeah, Heinrich lives with his mom. The only other likable person in this movie. It's Mom?
Starting point is 00:22:32 No, is Margie. Ah. It's Margie and Heinrich. Heinrich. Yeah. Mom's a bit much. Mom doesn't need to do the things that she does. She's a bit much.
Starting point is 00:22:42 She's a little over the top. I feel like the director had some mom issues that he was working through. I think just women in general were not his favorite at this point in his life. Not really my thing. Women? I'm not really into them. Not for me. Not for me, dog.
Starting point is 00:22:59 I don't like the mouth feel. It's a weird texture. Oh, then he gets, so he gets the phone number for Heinrich, calls Heinrich's mom. And she's like, yeah, Anna hasn't been here in weeks. Yeah. And he's like, oh, so you're just there in the house, like, while they're fucking? And she's like, yeah, he'd, you know.
Starting point is 00:23:22 It kind of rips. Yeah, rips. I'm into it. Yeah. And then Bob is just standing there and he's like, I have to go wee. Yeah. And I assume he peed himself. Yeah, but then Sam Neal takes him into the bathroom.
Starting point is 00:23:33 room and it's like, well, we'll wait for that, bud. Okay. So he's taking Bob to school. He's going to meet the teacher. He's never met his teacher before because he's been away on business. The teacher's very hot. Oh, wait. It's Anna.
Starting point is 00:23:53 But with a lighter wig and green contacts. You're talking about my girl, Helen? I'm talking about your girl Helen. Helen. Helen. Also played by one, Isabella. A Johnny. Yes, the same person playing Anna.
Starting point is 00:24:06 Yeah. Yeah. Whose last name? I'm sure I'm butchering. I don't think anyone's going to say shit to you. And if they do, fuck it. Yeah. What does he do to this teacher?
Starting point is 00:24:17 What does he do to this teacher? He grabs her hair and says, well, your wig. Yes. And she's like, maybe don't. And he's like, what are you doing? And then she's like, I want to fuck you forever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever. I won't make this weird for your son. Yes, I will.
Starting point is 00:24:31 I'm going to be his new mommy except the son. same mommy, but a new mommy. Oh, man. Meet the moon new mommy. Same as the old mommy. So there's a lot of like doppelganger stuff in this movie. Uh-huh. She creates him. Where does Helen come from? Is she just meant to look just this?
Starting point is 00:24:47 Like, what, what is Helen's deal? Yeah, right? Okay. I have no fucking idea. Okay. I know there are like deep thoughts involved in this movie. Yeah. Without a doubt.
Starting point is 00:24:59 Like, uh, spoiler alert. This movie does not suck. Oh, not at all. It's pretty great. It's pretty fantastic. Yeah. But it's also like... What?
Starting point is 00:25:08 I don't know. I'm sure someone's smarter than me can figure this out. Sure. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. It's a movie for, like, I also think it's a movie for dumb-dums to feel smart. Hmm. But it's also a movie that if you're a certain type of dumb-dum who would like to be smart, you go, I don't know what is.
Starting point is 00:25:26 That's myself. That's me too. We're the same type of dumb-dum. Which is to say actually pretty smart. just not about movies oddly what a weird hobby he finds heinrich's place he goes to heinrich's place anna's not there but they're doing a lot of touchy touchy and i thought oh maybe this could be like a sexy thruble heinrich is d t f heinrich loves everything i might need to rewrite hindrick he Heinrichi is not cocaine incarnate.
Starting point is 00:25:58 Yeah. He's ecstasy incarnate. Yeah, he's touching, he's loving, he's talking about souls. And he's got this incredible plant room. Or maybe his mom does, I don't know. Last time you came home, did you and Anna make love? Because the love making that we did right after you came home was amazing. And I just need to know, like, what was the deal there?
Starting point is 00:26:18 Was that, like, good for you? Or very strange. Am I like, if I'm like second in there? Is that the best way to do this? Yeah. So we learned that he never called to tell Mark that Anna was with him and was going to stay there. No, he's been out of the country. What was that about? Yeah, doppelganger. Doppelganger.
Starting point is 00:26:41 Is there a Heinrich doppelganger? Because that would be pretty great. Jesus Christ. Two Heinrichs. That would be terrifying. Yeah. I mean, the doppelgagger is already pretty terrifying. Yeah. The touching turns into a fight.
Starting point is 00:26:59 Yes. His mom is there. And she seems pretty indifferent to her son kicking the shit out of Anna's husband. Just whipping his fucking, the second ass whipping this guy gets in a movie. Heinrich loves and Heinrich hates. Uh-huh. And he also does like light white boy capoeira on him. He's like dance fighting him.
Starting point is 00:27:21 He's dance fighting him. Yeah. It's ecstasy baby. and saying things like the key being the infinitive to accept. And I was like, oh man, this movie is smarter than I am. Yeah. Also, I'm not sure that it was written in English. Do you think it was?
Starting point is 00:27:36 I think so. Oh, okay. I thought maybe it was just a bad translation. So they have this ballet fight. He gets his ass kicked. And then there's like a scene where like they stop and Heinrich's holding him. And Heinrich's like, this could go another way right now. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:52 Like, I'm not above blood as loop. Oh, yeah. Absolutely. If we need to do this, then Sam Neal starts choking him and he's like, fine, I will whip a fine ass again. Yeah. With these sick dance steps and one and a two and a punch punch kick. Punch punch kick is my favorite. So Anna's back at the apartment.
Starting point is 00:28:14 Sorry, I'm actually just reading about how this movie came about, which we can get into. Okay. What do you got for me? the writer-director Zolowski approached Danielle Thompson who is the producer
Starting point is 00:28:33 asking if she would work on a movie and he only had a 20-page script so they got like somebody else to write some of this script because Zalowski was in a state of deep depression Oh no shit. Yeah because he was getting divorced. Oh no shit. Yeah. And he recalls
Starting point is 00:28:51 how he once returned home late in the evening and found his five-year-old son Xavier alone in the apartment smeared with Jam after his wife had left him alone for several hours. Yeah, that felt a little too specific. That was a little too specific, yeah. He apparently just went a little bonkers
Starting point is 00:29:08 after the divorce, suicidal thoughts. It's set. It's set. So if he is Sam Neal's character, Mark, he is unbelievably self-aware about how delusional he is. About how delusional he is? Yeah. How do you mean? Like to be able to like have a character be that like out of touch with reality?
Starting point is 00:29:34 Yeah. Like, but that character is somehow loosely based on yourself. That's pretty, that's pretty self-aware. Yeah, I guess you're right about that. Yeah. Huh. Apparently. Because he didn't do a bunch of movies after this.
Starting point is 00:29:47 No. And apparently Isabel Johnny attempted. suicide after this also because this took so much out of her. I can imagine. Yeah. Boy. I often, was it, was it, was it Olivier that like was dealing with like Dustin Hoffman and Dustin Hoffman was like doing Marathon Man and he was starving himself and he was doing all this stuff and Olivia is just like my boy, it's called acting. It's just for funsies. Just pretend to do it. Just pretend. Yeah. All actors. Yeah. I mean, I get it. I get wanting to like do your craft to a like, I used to think that I wouldn't be able to write music unless I was in a
Starting point is 00:30:25 really sad place. Really? Yeah. You're doing all right now. Yeah. With your cool, cool band, Elder Tennisnet. Elder Tennisnet. If you say Elder Tennisnet, does it get translated as Eldruchanet?
Starting point is 00:30:36 Elder Tennisnet. No, I don't think so. Eldrich Anas. But I think you just get into these, like, ideas about, like, what you have to do to get into the headspace to create. I guess you're right. I'm sad to hear that she went through all that. And that miscarriage scene.
Starting point is 00:30:51 Jesus, fuck. I didn't even register it as a miscarriage scene. I just was like... She says it later. She just says like, I miscarried faith in the subway. Because she's talking about the two sisters' chance and faith. Oh, man. I don't understand what any of that means.
Starting point is 00:31:08 I'm being real honest with you. It felt like reading poetry where you get to the end of the poem and you're like, what? You know? I'm more of a hickory dickory duck kind of poetry guy. There you have it. I don't know why you're rapping it. I was doing Andrew Dice Clay. Oh, that's not for me.
Starting point is 00:31:25 That means nothing to me. That ass factor four getting guys, gonna really laugh at that one. I hope you're right. So they have this like screaming match argument that then gets physical. Yeah, he's like manipulating her about Bob. Yeah. And she says, you disgust me. I can't stand you touching me.
Starting point is 00:31:45 But they're both filthy at this point. Right. Every time he gets beat up, he doesn't change his clothes after work. So he gets beat up regularly. He's getting gnarlier and gnarly, like greasy. Yes. And she has been wearing the same blue dress that buttons up the back. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:00 Which is getting grosser and grosser. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But also often the buttons are unbuttoned except for the top one. Yeah. I don't understand why. Because it goes back and forth, buttoned and unbuttoned. Is that the only way she can button is the top one without help? Yeah, that's really making women subservient to a, or reliant, I guess, on a man.
Starting point is 00:32:18 Yeah. Yeah. Is this when she starts? making mince meat? Well, first he says fuck your needs and then slaps her. Like slaps the living hell out of her for a long time. Do it again and he just keeps slapping her.
Starting point is 00:32:33 Yeah. He blocks the door, pushes her down, slaps her a whole bunch. And he says, you know what this is for? The lies. And she goes, then you'll have to add much more. I thought that was like probably the most brutal line in the movie.
Starting point is 00:32:48 Yeah. Like you think you're hurting me and I have fucked you. you over so much more than you can possibly imagine. Yeah. Like, that was brutal. Where is Bob? Who? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:01 So she runs outside. There's blood pouring from her mouth. Pouring. Causes a tow truck crash. Oh my God, it's so funny. It's so funny. She steps in front of it to get hit by it.
Starting point is 00:33:10 Yeah, she's starting to commit suicide. So the, yeah, the guy swerves and he has like a stack of three cars, as you do in West Berlin in 1980 or whatever. They are all pancaked, though. They've all been pancaged.
Starting point is 00:33:21 They've all been run over by a monster truck. He's on his way to fucking Gravedigger so that they can, like, put them back in the pits for Grave Digger to jump over. I don't know. Have I ever sent you that video that I was infatuated with of the monster truck doing a front flip? I don't think so. I'll have to send it to you. It's fucking fascinating. Like, just like.
Starting point is 00:33:40 How? Yeah, yeah. They figured out the physics of how to do it and they were able to do a front flip. It's bananas. Yeah, I'm going to have to do that. Yeah, I think I just stared at it because I was like, I don't know. understand how you did that. It's not AI? No, no, no, no. This is like, this is before our official intelligence. Not before the film AI starring Haley Joel Osman. You see that bad boy.
Starting point is 00:34:01 Should we do that on the action movie podcast? Maybe. Oh, boy. I'll begin to pull up. I'll begin to pull up for the, for the action movies. So, uh, so yeah, so then she like runs away in the streets after she causes the tow truck to flip. Yeah, her face is wild. She's so expressive, and her face is just like an animal. Yeah. Yeah. She fucking goes for it. Like, she is not, like, no.
Starting point is 00:34:26 Holding back anything in this role. Absolutely. It's really, like, she won, like, I think of, like, con or something, can'ts. She won,
Starting point is 00:34:34 I like how you say it. She won, like best actor or something like a, good for her. Good for her. Or something. Like, because she's,
Starting point is 00:34:41 like, this is acting. She is going for the fucking fences with this thing. Absolutely. Oh, do you know she was married to Daniel Day Lewis? That makes sense.
Starting point is 00:34:50 Yeah. I did not know that. That's a handsome couple. Yeah, all character, all like, what's it called when you get into character? Method acting. All method acting. Oh, man, can you imagine being married to that dude and you're just talking in that weird Abraham Lincoln voice the whole time? Fucking brush your teeth, my man.
Starting point is 00:35:10 I'm a cobbler now. Okay. All right. All right, buddy. Less of the Mohicans. I get it. I get it. If you say so.
Starting point is 00:35:24 And we get this in bananas cut where Mark turns around to walk away from her after she's run away and he's just playing footy with a bunch of kids into courtyard. Yes. What is that? I'm just like, is this a dream now? Like, have we left reality behind? And he's happy. He's very happy.
Starting point is 00:35:42 Yeah. I guess that's to say, like, time has passed. I don't know. Because he's outside Margie's house, right? Because she's apparently going to take care of Bob for a while. Yeah, but I thought she was doing it at their house. Oh, I don't know. Maybe you're right.
Starting point is 00:35:55 That's at the apartment block that he first shows up to. Oh, maybe you're right. Maybe you're right. Yeah. And because we've been told that they hate each other, but it also seems like they're going to fuck? Sure. What's that about? I mean, how could you not? He's a very handsome gentleman.
Starting point is 00:36:07 Yeah, I guess. But if he's married to your friend who's also been telling you about how terrible he is, you know, whatever. So she undresses him, right? I think she does. Yeah. And then like, scene. Seen.
Starting point is 00:36:24 This is where we see that she has the heel on her boot. Why, the cast has a heel, yeah. Well, I know, and Missy brought this up. They used to do it where they would put like rubber stopper things on the bottom so you could walk on your like plaster cast. But the heel is plaster too. Yeah, yeah. No, there's, this has a definitive heel. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:36:44 Yeah. Weird. Yeah. He goes to see a private investigator to try to find Anna. Mr. Zimmerman. Mr. Zimmerman. Mr. Zimmerman. Wait, is that whose house it is at the end that blows up or that he, the cop, well, forget it.
Starting point is 00:37:02 No. That's not who that is. Yeah. But he is there when it happens. No, he's dead. Because he kills him. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:37:11 Sorry, spoilers for a few minutes from now. So this guy is like, the manager of private detectives, I guess, like a supervisor for private detectives? Zimmerman? Yeah. Okay. Because he sends a private detective out to follow her.
Starting point is 00:37:25 I see. We also learned that Margie's last name is Gluckmeister in this scene. Yeah, it's pretty good. Margie Gluckmeister. Anna shows back up at the house. Right. This is when he's come home drunk. Yes.
Starting point is 00:37:39 She's still wearing the dirty dress. Yes. With the unbuttoned in the back. Right. And she pulls out a carving knife, like an electric. Electric carving knife. Uh-huh. Uh-huh.
Starting point is 00:37:47 With raw meat. Uh-huh. That must be so hard to clean that electric carving knife. Oh, no. I'm never surprising to no one. I've never used one. Yeah. But she's putting it into a sausage maker anyway.
Starting point is 00:37:59 Right. What? Why would you need to cut? Like, anyway. I don't know from meat cutting. No, you're not a meat cutter. No. No.
Starting point is 00:38:06 No. No. So she's, she's carving this meat while they're having a fight and then she brings out a mincer to make like ground beef. Yes. Or ground beef. whatever. They, so they're having this fight.
Starting point is 00:38:20 He's asking her question after question. And she's answering them only by nodding or shaking her head. And he's looking away from her. But he seems to know the answers to the questions. Yes. It's wild. And her questions, she's answering them in a way that looks like she's scared. Yes.
Starting point is 00:38:35 But not of him of like she's giving it like like by being liberated by him not looking at her. She's able to give honest answers and that she would. would not be able to give if they were looking at each other. Right. Because they would be fighting. Right. So she's giving these like honest like, yes, I'm afraid of what you'll think of me.
Starting point is 00:38:54 But how is he, how does he know? Yeah. Yeah. That's love. I mean, that's marriage, right? Am I right? I don't, I don't fucking know. And then she puts the fucking...
Starting point is 00:39:02 You've been married for like seven months. Dickhead. Look at me. I'm a newlywed. Missy and I have stopped talking facing each other. It's all just look away. I mean, that's incredible you guys can read each other's lines like that. It's so hard to find a cafe that has the proper seating where we can sit perpendicular to each other.
Starting point is 00:39:29 Y'all got dick in their tables. No, perps. You got perps? When you come home and apples just covered and jammed. So she takes the electric carving knife to her own goddamn neck. I just kept thinking it's got fucking raw meat all over it. You were a walking pathogen at this point. Yes.
Starting point is 00:39:52 And then I wrote, where the fuck is Bob? Who is Bob? So she starts acting like she's possessed. Yeah. A.K.A. this movie is called possession. Possession. He's really manipulative. He's like, you're my whole family.
Starting point is 00:40:07 Yeah. She can still leave you, bro. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Then he picks up the carving knife. Well, he bandages her neck. Right, right. And now, and then he starts cutting himself. Like a baked potato.
Starting point is 00:40:19 He makes slices in his arm like he's a baked potato. I gotta let the steam out. Yeah, he's gonna fucking pop in that oven. And she says, oh, that doesn't hurt. Yeah, what's that about? I don't know. I don't know either. And now she looks like immaculate.
Starting point is 00:40:34 Yes, she's got, and she's clean. She's clean, and she's got the, like, very clean bandage around her neck. Yeah, and her hair is up and, like, her makeup is perfect, and she looks, like, beautiful. and yeah, it's just very like, okay, she dead now? And he's sitting at like a tiny schoolboy desk in the kitchen? Where did it come from? Like a potato. Where did it come from?
Starting point is 00:40:55 Where did it go? Yeah. Cotton I, Joe. But it's not like, it's not dream like enough for this shit to be making sense. This is just their reality. It feels real. It's real. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:41:11 But I guess also if you're like, Oh yeah, when you're going through the shit, like, nothing seems real. Yeah. Just the like out of body experience of like emotional overload. And I think from that standpoint, this movie captures that stuff. Yeah. But it also does it in a way that's not upsetting because these people are being fucking maniacal goofballs.
Starting point is 00:41:33 Yeah. It's like it's too, it's not even too real because it's too silly. Right. Yeah. Right. We have so much more movie to go. We're already 40 minutes into this thing. Are we seriously?
Starting point is 00:41:42 Well, buckle up because I have a lot of nose. This is going to be a fucking long one. This is our opus. This is our opus. This is our opus. This is our other things from Bloom County Comics trip. Alan. Now I just do it to see what I could get away with. I feel that I regularly tell you to stop.
Starting point is 00:42:06 So very little. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay, let's talk about the private investigator who's following her. subtly. He's practically sniffing her fucking hair. At one point they are both just full on running down the street with each other. She's running away from him and he's running
Starting point is 00:42:22 after her. That's not how a private investigator works. But it's still like getting to a corner and be like, do it to do, look at her round. Watch. Let's go check the newspaper. Yeah. She's like done her grocery shopping and she's sitting on a train and there's this like drunk dude who just
Starting point is 00:42:40 is right next to him. There's a A bunch of open seats. She sits next to the dude who's just like slumped over but staring straight ahead. And then he like turns to her and he's like, I'll take a banana. Yeah, it takes a banana. Yeah, she's got these great sunglasses on. She does, she does. But she's going to a rough part of town where they live before look like a nice part of town.
Starting point is 00:42:58 Yeah. There's a lot of graffiti, but I don't know what it says because I only know one German word. What's that? Back fiefing gashicht. Hmm. That's a punchable face. A punchable face. Or a face in need of a punch.
Starting point is 00:43:08 Face in need of a punch. Yeah. This is what I did a tiny amount of research And found out they are indeed in West Berlin Yep And I think there was like a Some of the graffiti is like liberation For East Berlin or something like that
Starting point is 00:43:21 Got it So the detective rings her apartment He's a real dick with that doorbell Leave her alone And then he just starts pounding on the door Yeah And then the door opens He pretends to be from like the landlord
Starting point is 00:43:35 Yeah Mm-hmm And she's clearly scared of a strange man being in her apartment Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Is she scared of him? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:43:43 Or is she scared for him? I'm not sure. She asks him if he wants a glass of wine. And in this scene, her dress is buttoned up and not dirty. Yeah. What does he say? Miss,
Starting point is 00:43:53 it doesn't make any sense. I've got kids. Like the glass of wine was going to lead to them fucking. Yeah. Okay. All right. And her neck isn't cut anymore. Nope.
Starting point is 00:44:03 Yeah. No, because she takes off the bandage. Yeah. And she drops. Just like Trump after he got shot in the ear. Yeah. Well, that was real.
Starting point is 00:44:09 You know, I am not a conspiracy theorist by nature, but I don't think he got shot, and I think Mitch McConnell's dead. That's all I want to say. Who? Who? She drops the wine bottle and, like, laughs about it. She goes, oh, I dropped it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:44:27 And he's checking the windows. He's checking the windows. That's his, like, cover stories. He's got to check the windows. He's got to check the windows because one of the windows fell out and almost killed a Turkish lady. A Turkish lady. Why is it matter that she's Turkish? Well, I know you might think that she shouldn't be here anyway.
Starting point is 00:44:41 Yes, he does say that. Europe. What do we doing here? Stop. Don't be a little America. The 80s. There's a goop monster in her house. It's like stuck to the door jam.
Starting point is 00:44:51 He's stuck to the door jam and he's got like a squid shaped head. He does and he's like also very hard to look at. Like you can't quite see what it is. Yeah. And it also looks like he might be covered in jam. Yes. Yes. It's Bob.
Starting point is 00:45:06 That's pretty good. Yeah. Wait. It's not Bob. Bob, though. It's not pop. It's not pop. What does she do to the gentleman?
Starting point is 00:45:12 She sneaks up behind him and stabs him with the wine bottle. With the wine bottle. Yeah. Cuts the shit out of him. That's a lot of blood. And I have a note that says, now we're getting somewhere. Now we're getting somewhere. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:45:23 Now we're cooking with fire. And she looks crazy, but also confused. Yes. Like she's not fully aware of what she's doing. Or why she's doing it or in control of it. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Okay, we're back at Mark's house.
Starting point is 00:45:38 Mark and Bob. Helen shows up. Yep. Yep. Asking to see Anna. Yep. And she says, is Bob fine? Yep.
Starting point is 00:45:45 Is he fine? Yep. Sure. And Mark's like, I don't know, what are you, to take care of this kid for me? Yep. You're his new mommy, you know? Hey, the doorbell just rang. So I'm going to give you this watchclaw.
Starting point is 00:45:56 So you watch the student of yours? That's right. Could you just bathe your first grade student? Fine. I feel like some lines are being crossed by everyone in this scene, including Bob. And well, Helen isn't a real person, right? Of course she is. He's a teacher.
Starting point is 00:46:11 Okay. I mean, she's the last face we see in the movie. Yes, but I don't, okay. All right. Who's at the door? It's Heinrich. It's Heinrich. He's saying weird things and doing weird things with his hands.
Starting point is 00:46:23 He's dancing again. This motherfucker is dancing. He tells us that he has a wife and daughter back in Cincinnati. I don't know why, but that made me laugh. So hard. I really wanted his mom to say Cincinnati later. Yes. No.
Starting point is 00:46:38 He's like throwing himself into the wall. I have notes like, what was his direction for this? Was this his choice to do this? I feel like he is expressing his lost love for Anna. In dance. In dance. But in dance of like a very, very drunk person in a very narrow hallway. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:46:58 And there's conversation going back and forth that says, he says something about God to Sam Neal. And Sam Neal says, for me, God is a disease. Yes. And then Heinrich leaves. while saying that's why disease, that's why through disease we can reach God. I don't think that's true. And now the teacher is inside watching out the mincemeat machine.
Starting point is 00:47:24 Yes, why is she doing his chores? Also, Mark says to him with your yin-yang balls dangling from your Zen brain, which I laughed at really hard to. That's like a, oh, I got him this time. I fucking got him. Yeah. And you didn't. You didn't got it.
Starting point is 00:47:43 So she's doing the women's work, which is child care and cleaning. Uh-huh. And he says, I'm at war with women. They have no foresight. There is nothing about them that is stable. They're not to be trusted. They're dangerous. And she's like, touch me with your misogyny hands?
Starting point is 00:47:58 Well, she says women have nothing in common. There's nothing in common among women except menstruation. If a man says this to you, you do not show him your tits. Those tits are yours and yours alone. Counterpoint. No. A man says shit like that to you. You throw your drink in his face and you excuse yourself impolitely.
Starting point is 00:48:16 You say, how did I end up in this film being directed by a Polish man in West Berlin in 1979 or whatever the fuck? This is banana times. It's bananas. She wanted to talk to them about Bob. I guess they have like a nap time at school and Bob often falls asleep and wakes up screaming. Yeah. And Mark's like, oh no, he never does that here.
Starting point is 00:48:37 How would you know? And then he starts screaming and it's like, did he just never know? notice that Mark, that Bob has been screaming every night? Or we're usually just leaving him at night? Bob doesn't start screaming until they've gotten naked and into bed. Yes. Because she's like, I should probably go, but I'll sleep with you. I mean, you did say all that cool shit to me about women being useless.
Starting point is 00:48:57 And then she's, they're laying in bed and she's like, well, you don't have to like make love to me. We can just hang out and he goes, hi. He's like, I'm a fuck. And then Bob starts screaming for his mommy. Yes. And it finds his naked father with his naked teacher. who looks just like his mother?
Starting point is 00:49:13 He stands there naked for a real long time. Yes, he does. And I guess I did try to pause on his D. Well, I was watching it on my laptop and I was like turning up the brightness, but it's really just a lot of bush. So, 70s. We were air-sued people back then. Sure.
Starting point is 00:49:33 Then we get an awkward school drop-off the next day. Right. And we learned that the private investigator is missing. missing. Yeah. We learned this from Zimmerman. Yeah. Who it turns out was his boyfriend. Yeah. Oh, this part made me sad. Also, felt like that was handled really well. There was nothing like no kickback about it. No kickback. Yeah. Well done 1980s. Yeah. So he goes to, Zimmerman goes to Anna's apartment because that's where his, the PI boyfriend had gone. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. And she's scrubbing the floor. And he's asking her questions and tells her she has to answer. And he says, she says,
Starting point is 00:50:10 It's you or the police, right? And she has this like such a beautiful, wide-eyed baby face. Sure. But it's also terrifying. Yeah, yeah, yeah. She looks unhinged. Yeah. And she's like, oh, he's right in there.
Starting point is 00:50:25 Yes. Well, first, like the, the Zimmerman says something to her, like, darkness is easeful. And I don't know what that means. But it seemed profound. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. What's in the bed? What's in the bed?
Starting point is 00:50:40 the bed. It's my squid man, my future boyfriend Squidman. It's really gross. It's really gross. Squelchy as fuck. Yeah. And she says, he made love to me all night. All night. And the floor is covered in like blood and cum. Milk? Yeah. Puss? Yeah. Yeah. And his legs are behind the door. Yeah. That's really good because he's got tentacles now. Yeah. Yeah. And she says he is still unfinished, you know.
Starting point is 00:51:10 she's building something. I love this. And then she starts beating him with like a bottle of soap. I thought it was she was hitting him. He shoots at her. Misses twice and then she starts hitting him with a towel.
Starting point is 00:51:22 But there's like milk or soap or something going all over him while this is, I guess it was the towel she was washing with. I guess. Oh yeah. She was scrubbing the floor. Yeah. And then she shoots him.
Starting point is 00:51:32 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Cut to Mark getting home. And there is a film reel wrapped in brown paper on his door.
Starting point is 00:51:45 Is this from Heinrich? I guess. Okay. And also when we saw him talking to the private investigator, he's been like twisting in his chair like a child would, like spinning it back and forth. And while he's watching this film, he's like frantically rocking the rocking chair again. Yeah, he's doing his parallel rocking. Something to that.
Starting point is 00:52:06 Do you think he was like, uh, director? I can do this. And the director was like, like, like I'm so depressed. I don't give a shit what you do. For real, Sam. It's like, hold on. Let me turn down disintegration by the cure. What would you say? No, it wasn't out yet, but you know what I mean. I do know. So what's on the movie? What's on the real? What's on the movie?
Starting point is 00:52:28 Anna being a mean ballet teacher? Torture ballet. Torture ballet. First of all, it doesn't look about painful. The dancer screams and runs out. So Anna starts ranting two can camera about like doing better. And she says to Heinrich, I assume it's Heinrich who's making this movie. That's why I am with you because you say I for me. What does that mean?
Starting point is 00:52:52 Don't know. Fuck. This is also where she starts talking about the two sisters. It's like the two wolves inside her. Sure. But it's two sisters, faith and chance. Yes. But I don't get this bit either.
Starting point is 00:53:05 Nope. And she says, I can't exist by myself because I am afraid of myself. Now one hit a little close to home for me So I was like This is why I need a squid man This felt like when people are like Taking philosophy courses in college And they just like start talking to you about it
Starting point is 00:53:24 And you're like Do you actually get it? I get the basic concepts But the language you're using It's very much losing me Very confusing Yeah Yeah
Starting point is 00:53:33 Yeah she does a whole monologue about evil Yeah And then we're back to the, she's in the house now and the house is fucking trashed. Yes. Again, saying like time has passed. I guess. And she is trashing it further by putting like shoving laundry into the refrigerator and like
Starting point is 00:53:51 taking everything out of the pantry and throwing it on the floor. She's like, oh, I need to make dinner and just throws everything on the floor. And I was like, that looks like fun. It does. Because it looks like there's like a box of like Ziploc bags that she's just spilling everywhere, which I got very stressed about because you'd never be able to get them all back in the box. No, my God. Whatever wizardry they used to do that in the first place.
Starting point is 00:54:12 And now, when he does go into the laundry room, though, the dress that she's been wearing the whole time is hanging up. Hanging up. Why? I was convinced she was going to be in that dress hanging up. Yes. So she then, like. No, he's being really smug now because he has fucked the teacher.
Starting point is 00:54:29 And he's like, oh, it's getting so difficult for you. You aren't as strong or sure of yourself. Right. He's had this awakening where he's like not afraid of anything anymore. more and he's like ready to take on the world. He moved on quick. Yeah. But she returns to her monologue about evil.
Starting point is 00:54:48 While doing this like weird thing with her hands and body where she's like almost like doing a lady Macbeth I need to wash them, but she's also twitching badly. I was, it felt very Shakespeare into it as well. Yeah. He's like, why don't we just sit together peacefully? And I just felt the urge to like drive my knee into his face with my hands on the back of his head. Because sitting together
Starting point is 00:55:10 peacefully goes very badly. I mean, the first the first time you've hit me in the face, we're never being alone in a room together again. Oh, God, no. No.
Starting point is 00:55:20 Although, I bet I could hit you in the face and you'd let me back. I wouldn't. Let's not test that. I wouldn't, but I think you could. And that's for bringing up Bloom County. I mean, I'm going to start getting,
Starting point is 00:55:34 I'm going to bring a newspaper so I can roll it up and hit you in the snout when you do things that I don't like. which is bring up that kind of shit. I did describe a man as looking like hot Ziggy recently. He's true. That wasn't wrong.
Starting point is 00:55:48 No, when you said hot Ziggy, I was like, oh yeah, his head's so round. So. She screams, I feel nothing for no one. Like a child. I liked it, actually. And then she's hanging out with Jesus. She's jerking it for Jesus. You think she's jerking?
Starting point is 00:56:04 She's robin her clit. She jerks it for Jesus. And then she's insane. laughing in the subway into screaming, and this is the miscarriage scene. Right. Man, she's good. She's whimpering at Jesus.
Starting point is 00:56:18 So you think she was rubbing her nub. Did you look at her hands? No, I was focused on her face because she was whimpering and I couldn't figure out what was happening. I think because she's rubbing the nub. Wow.
Starting point is 00:56:27 Maybe I'm wrong. I don't know. Works for me. I mean, she's pretty horny. Jerking her for Jesus. Yeah. Whom someone amongst us hasn't looked up
Starting point is 00:56:34 at those abs and been like, exactly. He's cut as hell. Cut as hell, baby. Cumb gutters on Jesus? Yeah. I'm already going to hell, y'all. It's fine.
Starting point is 00:56:44 We're angling for better seats at this point. She's so good. I want to say next to Mitch McConnell. No, I don't want to be next to Mitch McConnell for all eternity. Although it would be like hell for him to have to be next to us for all eternity. They keep making dick jokes. I wrote here, I bet she got slapped like poor Shelley Duval. When she is just like,
Starting point is 00:57:11 she's going back and forth and hands are coming heads moving hands hands hands hair hair hair everything's full of milk she is writhing in eggy milk on the floor it's getting thick by her gyrations and this is how she keeps getting so dirty i guess yeah i also feel like in this scene if you muted it and put on like edm it would look totally normal like she was dancing like the slix bass drop exactly she drops to her knees and starts puking white shit and blood, which then also starts coming from her ears. And then there's like something green underneath her. And she screams.
Starting point is 00:57:50 Yeah, yeah, yeah. And like a lot of it pouring out from her crotch as well. Yes. And what she says to him in the next scene is what I miscarried there was sister faith and what is left is sister chance. Okay. I'd like to unpack that, but I don't know where to begin. I feel like that's a road this podcast cannot go down.
Starting point is 00:58:10 We're not that smart. I mean, I guess if you're married to someone, you have faith and your love for them that you will be with them forever. And now she's kind of leaving things up to chance. But I also don't understand why that means you have to fuck a squid man or create a squid man to fuck you. Teach the peaches. Fuck the pain away. Yeah, you're right about that. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:58:33 What else is in the teaches of peaches? Stay in school. Suck in on my tities like you wanted me calling me all the time. God, I love that song. It's so cool. God, I love Pitchie. She's still fucking doing it. Peaches rules.
Starting point is 00:58:47 I think she's still a like elementary school teacher as well. Is she? I saw that she was on tour. She rules. Yeah. Oh yeah, Peaches. Peaches get in touch. What else is in the teaches of peaches?
Starting point is 00:58:58 Uh, huh. Right. Uh. This middle age white dude loves you. Yeah. In this scene where she's describing this to Mark, he says, You look vulgar to me. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:59:13 Fuck you. Right. He's like moved on so far that she's disgust him. Yeah. The pendulum swung. Yeah. Then he starts doing this monologue about a dying dog. The one under his porch. Yes.
Starting point is 00:59:24 That had to have been something that happened to Sam Neal, right? Have you ever seen a dying dog? I was like, actually no. I was like, man, what are we doing here, Sam Neal? What's going on with this? This has to be a, I feel like people are going to be mad about this episode because I'm like, you know, this has to be a metaphor for something, but what? I don't know. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:59:43 Well, it's the show, like, later on that, like, he's callous. I see. He went and watched to see what happened to the dog while it died. Yeah. But then later, the business panel man says, like, the dog wasn't dead. Color where that guy sucks. What's guy's socks? The businessman at the end, he's wearing pink socks.
Starting point is 01:00:05 Oh. Yeah. Was our subject still wearing pink socks? I'm glad I didn't have to remind you because I did forget. He tells her to take off the ring and wristwatch that he gave her the last time she came home. And she just like rips them off and says, don't forget to give him his yogurt. Rebob. Where is Bob?
Starting point is 01:00:26 Again, I ask who. Who? And this is where he says, if I threw myself at your feet and yelped, would you still walk over me? That's a great chorus line. It sounds like it's from a mineral song, doesn't it? it feels like that one sonny real estate song where he's talking about like reading bad poetry and throwing himself into your door and all that stuff and I was like circles yeah yeah it's like you're not a good boyfriend no you're a bad bad boyfriend Jeremy so he decides to call heinrich's mom
Starting point is 01:01:02 fuck yes he does he calls heinrich's mom and he gives her anna's address yeah yeah and then he goes and picks up bob and the teacher's like here's a slip of paper. It has my name on it. Ripped to that piece of paper. Does that come back up? I don't know. He's also late. I'm mad at this that he's late to pick up Bob because he's using this like professional woman as a fucking babysitter. Sure. Yeah, sure. But she's also like, I guess I'm the mom now. I guess I'm yes. Bob needs someone. Yeah. Heinrich is cool doing these circles on his motorcycle outside Anna's house, though.
Starting point is 01:01:33 I just haven't noticed this as Heinrich saying Heinrich shit. Like he's been my friend for years. I'm just so used to this at this point. He's like, all. holding these drugs in her face and he's like, with this love opens to absolutely unknown horizons. What? We are made to swim in the center of the stream, not stand on the dry banks. And she's like, yes, yes, mm-hmm, this checks out.
Starting point is 01:01:58 Yes, please go meet this monster. Now he's unbuttoning her dress behind her. So maybe this is how it gets unbuttoned or was it already? I don't know. I mean, if so, time is a flat circle, because this movie is like the unbuttoning and buttoning of the dress are happening throughout the movie. And the cleanliness and greasification. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:02:17 What's in the fridge? It's a dead man's face in parts. I believe with Zimmerman's head. It's Zimmerman. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. She like, it's about to fuck Heinrich. And then it's almost like she remembers the dead men and that she's making a creature because she, like, stops and is shocked by it.
Starting point is 01:02:33 Yeah. Yeah. And then we get a close-up of his squid face, and I have to say, I fucking adore it. I was convinced it was her face. Oh, interesting. Yeah, but I think it's not. It's no, I don't think so. No, but she's like this really long squid face with eyes on the side of it and like really
Starting point is 01:02:51 interestingly creepy looking. It's so good. She stabs Heinrich. He's unwell from looking at it. Sure. Yeah. And then she. He starts stumbling around like he's blind.
Starting point is 01:03:03 He's always doing that though. I think he saw too much and it made him like, it made him not be able to like see. He failed his sanity check and Cthulun had to roll on the D10 table. Exactly. And grind us was the malumint or malady that he got. Malumance, a word I just made up. Malumant? Malumant?
Starting point is 01:03:22 Malumant. It's like amalumance. That's a clause. It sure is. So she's like talking to him and she's got like a kitchen knife in her hand and she's just like taking flicks at his chest. And he's not stopping her because he's so stunned. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:03:39 He's probably like, maybe, maybe. Yeah, she's monologuing about how we're all the same but in different words. And then she goes, meat and stabs right into his like armpit chest area. Uh-huh. And then he runs away. He does not react as I believe that I would if someone stabbed me in my armpit chest area, which would be to be like, ow, and start crying. That's not the first time mine aren't been stabbed.
Starting point is 01:03:58 No, I'm sure. I hope his wife back in Cincinnati stabbed him too, you know. He gets away, but not before seeing the body on the bed. Right. Well, with the writhing tentacles. Even more tentacles, larger tentacles now. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:04:12 Not as big as they will get, though. Mm-mm. It's fine. It's as long as it's going to be. I have a lot to say. I'm just worried about running in a tape. For a moment, I was like, oh, no. Thank you, Dozer, for sending us the cassette for your band, Little A.
Starting point is 01:04:30 Thank you, Little A. Little A. And Dozer. And Dozer. So Heinrich runs down the street to the phone, calls Mark, because why wouldn't you? Marks your first phone call on something like this happens. He's now his emergency contact. Yes.
Starting point is 01:04:47 And Marjit comes to the house with groceries. To take care of Bob because someone's got to. Falls over? Is it because her leg is broken and they put a heel on the cast? Why does she fall down? I don't know. And see. Okay.
Starting point is 01:05:02 It's so fucking like, what's good? Is that a comedy beat in this movie? What has happened? No. I don't know. I think Margie might be. intended to be some sort of comic relief, but this man was actually just so depressed that he couldn't even write it.
Starting point is 01:05:15 Because there's that whole scene where like she like, the implication is that they're going to fuck and she just like hugs his crotch? Yes, this is when she does it to him. Yeah. Yeah. And she's like, what is happening? I don't know. Um, and then Mark goes into the, he, he drives down and goes into the apartment where
Starting point is 01:05:37 Anna is staying. And it's totally empty and clean. Right, except the fridge is open and he sees the man parts in there. Why did she clean up everything except Zimmerman? I don't know. But he turns on the gas and then goes to the bar where he's told Heinrich to go. And Heinrich, who has been stabbed? We will repeat.
Starting point is 01:05:54 He has been stabbed. He's just hanging out of the bar. Just hanging out of the bar. I would love to go to this bar. It looks like a great dive. Also, at this point, I noticed that, like, when you see Sam Neal at the beginning of the movie, he's very handsome. But he's, like, somehow looking so much more, like, weasily and gross. His face is, like, squit.
Starting point is 01:06:10 Yeah, he's like pushing his face in a way that I really like. Yeah. Yeah. So Mark is now being very aggressive towards Heinrich. As though he hadn't already. Right. But he says to him, you need a Tampax and Heinrich's like, I've been stabbed. And I kind of wanted them to become best friends.
Starting point is 01:06:32 But then Heinrich pukes. He says, I take what I want. And Mark goes to the garbage that he saw, earlier while walking to the bathroom. Why is there a shoe and a feather in this bar garbage? Yes. Okay. What bars are you hanging out with that there isn't a Converse All-Star and a feather in the trash?
Starting point is 01:06:52 And meanwhile Heinrich is begging him. He says, send me on a long trip to restore my harmony. I deserve it. His chakras are out of alignment. I love him. But yes, he takes a feather in a shoe into the stall. Yeah, he jams the toilet with the shoe and then gets himself to puke into the toilet. He uses that trash feather to make himself barf.
Starting point is 01:07:13 Why don't you just make barf sounds, guy, the door's locked behind you. No, because he needs his puke to be in the toilet when he puts Heinrich's head into it. Why? Yes. Okay. I mean, putting a trash feather down my throat would do it for me too, I suppose. And he beats him with like the back of the toilet ceramic thing. The tank, yeah.
Starting point is 01:07:31 The tank lid. Shaves his head into the toilet. Yeah, and drowns him. Honestly, team Heinrich. And then floods the bathroom. Runs his pocket. runs his pockets. Pores the drugs on him.
Starting point is 01:07:43 Uh-huh. Uh-huh. And then flushes poor Heinrich. And goes back to the house and puts a heating element onto a book of matches. ACAB and all, but I feel like the investigating officers will notice the stab wound in Hyner's chest. Sure. Carry on. Sure.
Starting point is 01:07:58 So he goes back to the house and he starts a fire. It makes the house explode because he'd turn the gas on. Right. And then... There's just a random crazy lady on the street? Who's loving it? Who loves every minute of it? She's like, ah, just rips!
Starting point is 01:08:09 Yeah. Then he steals Heinrich's motorcycle. Yeah. And goes home with it. It's home. This is off the rails. Marjit is bleeding in the elevator. She's been, like her throat's been cut.
Starting point is 01:08:20 Stabbed her her throat slush. Like she needed that fucking heat. What is that happening? I don't know. So he carries her back upstairs. Covered in blood. Finds Anna in the bedroom. Looking normal.
Starting point is 01:08:32 Looking normal. She cleans him up. And now she gets the back titty squeeze. And they kiss. Mm-hmm. And she says, do you believe in God? It's in me. And then she goes down to her knees looking insane.
Starting point is 01:08:43 Yeah. Yeah. This sex scene felt quite bad. We need a zoop for the unhappy Titty Bell. Yeah. Because they're both just completely insane. Would you like me to read a note that I have at this point in the movie? Sure.
Starting point is 01:08:57 I figure their relationship is unhealthy. A bit toxic. He says God is still under the porch where the dog died. What are you talking about? She responds, I need money. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So he tells her to go to Margie's place.
Starting point is 01:09:11 Right. And then he puts Margie in a dress bag. Yes, just to dispose of her body. And then he puts her in the trunk of their goddamn land yacht. And then Heinrich's mom calls him. Yep. And tells him that she found Heinrich's body at the bar and identified it. Uh-huh.
Starting point is 01:09:25 But it wasn't Heinrich because his soul wasn't there? Yeah. But she may have snapped as well. Yeah, because then she, like, asks him, like, he's dead, isn't he? Yeah. It's like, yeah, you identified his body. Yep. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. So he goes to her, and they have a... Oh, sorry, go on.
Starting point is 01:09:45 First. Oh, I'm sorry. I skipped a very important. The ultimate scene of this movie is that he goes to Margie's to find Anna. Yeah. Yeah. And she's making very loud sex sounds. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Oh, is that what that is. Oh, Alan. You've watched enough porn to know. He's free. No, she wasn't doing... She didn't say, what do you do? buddy. It's okay. It happens to everyone. Are you sure you're in there?
Starting point is 01:10:18 Anyway, he's freaking out, grabbing his head, and he walks into the bedroom, and she is fucking the squid man. Yeah, who's like more man on top now. But like tentacles going up, undulating. Yeah, and then like a real big tentacles, like tentacles wrapped around her arms and legs. Yes. And then one tentacle thrusting into her. under the painting of lions that I presume Margie had hanging in her home for a reason.
Starting point is 01:10:41 And she keeps saying almost, almost, almost. And is that it's almost finished or I'm almost finished? Yes, and. Now he goes to. Making eye contact with her not yet divorced husband. Yeah. So yes, now he goes to see Heinrich's mom and they have a totally rational normal conversation. Yeah, Heinrich's did, isn't he?
Starting point is 01:11:06 Well, yeah. And she's like, yeah, I get it. And then takes a handful of pills. Yep. And it's like, I'm just going to lay down here. And she lays out on the bed and it flops it away that was like, don't put that old lady on the floppy ass bed. What are we doing here?
Starting point is 01:11:18 How's she going to get up? I'm stressed for her. So then he... It's daytime again. Right. And they're in this place that has this really long spiral staircase. So many stairs in this fucking movie. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:11:34 Yeah. And the guy from the counter. The guy from the council finds him on the street and they're talking on, like they meet up on the street somewhere. Yes, he says that dog didn't die of old age. What about you, Mark? Yeah. What does that mean? Yes. Okay. He will not die of old age either. And he says something about no successor because they've been talking about his successor. Right. But there is no successor. Right. What? You have to come back in and be the guy. Yeah. But do you have to be the guy who finishes this? Is that what this? I don't know. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:12:05 Why was he wearing pink socks? This guy was wearing pink socks? Yeah, we see the pink socks at the, like, very end of the movie. What the fuck? Which is still like an hour and a half from now. Yeah. So, um, he goes to Zimmermans. This is Zimmerman's house.
Starting point is 01:12:18 This is Zimmerman's house. Why does he go to Zimmerman's house? And there's cops there. Why are there cops there? And then he makes a taxi driver crash his car into the cop car. He says, back up and then full speed crash into the police car. And the taxi driver says, my pleasure, sir. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:12:34 But granted, he's got a gun to his head. He sure does. Yeah. And then he leaps out. And yeah, yeah. He looks out. And I'm pretty sure that was Sam Neal who hit the concrete. He looks rough.
Starting point is 01:12:45 Yeah. The cops shoot him. He shoots them. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. He wrecks his car then somehow, which dumps Margie's body? I think that was, I think that was supposed to be Anna driving that car. Because he had the motorcycle. Oh.
Starting point is 01:13:00 And then just when she backs out. Right. He wrecks it into a parking spot. Yes. when she backs out, she hits another cop car, or maybe the cop car that was hit earlier. And they all explode.
Starting point is 01:13:10 And it ejects Margie's body. Yes. And then the first two cars explode and the taxi cab doesn't, but I think it was supposed to. I think it was meant to. Because the camera's like, ah, ah,
Starting point is 01:13:22 we already blew these ones up. Yeah. And then Mark is riding his motorcycle after he's been shot and he wrecks it and he's all fucked up now. And this is when he goes into the building with all the stairs. Yes.
Starting point is 01:13:34 and there's church bells ringing and we hear a car pull up outside a door slam and then Anna is coming up the steps as well with someone else. With a man, yes. A man. A man. Wow.
Starting point is 01:13:48 She says, she, oh yes, she comes up the stairs and we see Mark behind her but with brown eyes instead of blue. And she says, I wanted to show it to you. It is finished now. she made like the perfect man.
Starting point is 01:14:05 She turned the squid man into a person that looks like Mark. Right. What? She made him into who she wanted. Yep. So then, uh... He starts firing wildly. Yeah, and then the cops shoot up the steps, like seven or eight floors up and hit them perfectly and kill them or shoot them both. I thought she got hit by a ricochet of one of his shots.
Starting point is 01:14:26 Maybe. I don't know. No, because the cops are firing and the bullets are exploding around Newmark. Yeah. But they're hitting those two. And Newmark is like totally unfazed by this. Yeah, and smiling. Smiling.
Starting point is 01:14:39 So they are both like bleeding profusely. She's going to die next to him with her hot dogs on the outside. I don't know how they got out. How do they get? They can't just come out like that. She takes the gun and like flips her arms behind herself and puts the gun up against her like tailbone? And shoots.
Starting point is 01:14:54 And shoots shooting them both. Yes. Through her body. Yes. Well, he, no, he doesn't get shot too because he jumps over the railing. Oh. Okay. Okay. And the new one says so hard to live with it, eh, brother? What does that mean?
Starting point is 01:15:13 This is where we see the guy. Well, we see the guy wearing the pink socks. He like takes his shoe off and puts it up on the railing and we see his pink socks. I never saw this. Maybe it was in the Criterion version that I watched. I mean, it's called the Pink Sock Edition. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. I assumed someone's anus was going to prolapse, but I guess it was just...
Starting point is 01:15:32 Gross. So. Newmark gets a woman to come outside. It's not Margie, though. It looks like Margie. Totally no woman. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. He gives her a gun and tells her to shoot the cops.
Starting point is 01:15:45 She's like, okay. Yeah, I love it. Why? This is my shit. ACP, I guess. Yeah, I guess. Now we cut to the teacher who has Bob, Bob, who is saying, don't open the door. Don't open, don't open, don't open.
Starting point is 01:16:00 It's really upsetting. And there's the sound of, like, dub-duce warplanes outside. Yes, why? And then bombs dropping. Why? And Bob goes and hides face down in the bathtub and does not get back out of it. Pretending to be drowned in the bathtub?
Starting point is 01:16:16 Yes, or drowned in the bathtub. Meanwhile, new mark is outside the door that you can see swimming on the door. And bombs drop and she stares and the movie ends. The end. Holy ghost. A. I'm so glad this was an upsetting experience for you. Honestly, it made me feel better. I was like, we're having such a chill breakup.
Starting point is 01:16:44 Like, getting along so well. Two, I can't believe I've waited this long to see this movie. This feels like something you should have seen ages ago. Yeah. Like inappropriately when I was like 10 years old. And then just been ruined forever. And just been like, I think there's tithies in it, but just fireworks. Every night.
Starting point is 01:17:05 Scared me. I'm sorry. Scared Apple, too. So why don't we move on to the ratings face? I nominate you to go first. Almost. Almost. Almost.
Starting point is 01:17:19 I'm going to give this a fucking nine. Yeah? This was banana times. It was not what I expected. I knew it was going to be like, I thought it was going to be way more upsetting than it was. Yeah. But also, it's very upsetting. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:17:32 And it's goofy, but very, like, poignant in some way. There's something about female sexuality in there and dissatisfaction. And I feel like this is a movie that, like, you could get mad, pretentious on this film. Absolutely. And I'm probably will at a later date. Love that for you. Yeah. I'm going to write my thesis about it.
Starting point is 01:17:59 When I finally graduate from Whirlfambul. Oh, I don't want you to graduate. That's why I keep failing you. See, I have to stick around. I thought it was just because I was really bad at this show. I'm going to give this a stolen banana. This movie's bananas. I don't know.
Starting point is 01:18:17 I loved it. I was baffled by it. It's beautiful. It's terrible. The acting is wonderful. The people are atrocious. It's just like, the directing might be good or might be some of the worst directing I've ever seen.
Starting point is 01:18:29 I genuinely don't know. Yes. I highly recommend people watching it and I'm sorry if you hated it Yeah I want to get a discussion about this going on the discord You guys stop tagging me and shit all the time I am I'm a real person with a real life too Love you guys
Starting point is 01:18:47 Tag me in it if it's really good But not just about nonsense I don't need that in my life You can decide whether or not to leave that in When did I get tagged in the other day That I was like why the fuck did I get tagged in this? I have no idea It was like a oh man
Starting point is 01:19:00 It was a big big somebody posted about Big Bad Voodoo Daddy playing in Pittsburgh and so I was like oh Alan should be tagged on this and I'm like why why did you like horns? Just because they're like first and second wave ska and jazzed. Does not want to go see Big Bad Voodoo Daddy? Counterpoint? Does it? No.
Starting point is 01:19:21 I had to live through the Zooten Riot. No, that's swing. Yeah, the swing era of the 90s. Okay, let's just move on from this. Katie. Alan. This was a goddamn joy. I hope that people have enjoyed this for an hour and 20 minutes.
Starting point is 01:19:35 Jesus fuck. We have another episode to record right now. I know. You got to go and we go to bed. It's 8.45. I haven't even eaten in dinner yet. What are you doing? I didn't have time.
Starting point is 01:19:43 I got out really from work. I'm sorry. We're going to push this back so you to have dinner? No, because it's already almost 9 o'clock. I don't want you doing this on an empty stomach. I think I'm better when I suffer. And so you're art. Your art.
Starting point is 01:19:54 Plus, he brought me these bathroom candies upstairs from the bathroom. It's going to keep eating vitamin C until you pass out. Don't fucking candy in your bathroom if you don't want me to eat it. That's all I'm saying. We should do this again next week. What do you want to do? I want to do a movie that has an ownership in its title. Please tell me more.
Starting point is 01:20:09 Lee Cronin's the Mummy. Lee Cronin's the Mummy. I don't know who Lee Cronin is. He directed Evil Dead Rise. Right. I remember almost nothing about it, though. I watched it again the other day. It's still good.
Starting point is 01:20:20 Okay. And I really still like the line, Mommy's with the Maggots now. Oh, yeah, I did like that a lot. That's real good. That's real good. And that lady that's like 80% mouth. Yeah, I like that. Okay, maybe I'll rewatch, but I probably won't.
Starting point is 01:20:32 I'll probably just watch Lee Cronin's The Mummy for our episode next week. And if that movie sucks, you can blame Griffin Newman from the Blank Check podcast because him saying he watched the movie and he was real scared until he remembered it wasn't his mummy. It was Lee Cronin's mummy, so he didn't have to be scared. I'm sorry, what is this podcast? You just fucking dropped another movie podcast that is regularly above us on the charts. Cool, great, rad.
Starting point is 01:20:55 They're like 25 places above us. Are they? Yeah. Oh, all right. I'd never listen to it because I don't believe in other podcasts. They believe in you. I believe in me. I believe in me.
Starting point is 01:21:07 Actually, I'm afraid to be alone with myself. Thanks for listening to another episode of Whirl of Ambulance. Bye-bye. Bye. That was a long one.
