Starting point is 00:00:00 So, Katie, you've called me here because you're having a problem? Yeah, a problem I'm having. You said something about there being a knocking in your basement? Yeah, in my basement. Knocking in my basement. You think I got ghosts? I think I got gas? I think I got gas. Yeah, in my basement. You think I got ghosts? I think I got gas. Well that's why I brought gas sex? No no no. Tums. Pepsid? You know I briefly had a tums addiction it was not great. Oh man. Yeah. If you can't you just can't eat a whole bunch of them every day for a long period of time and then stop eating them you will not poop.
Starting point is 00:00:43 I called them every day for a long period of time and then stop eating them, you will not poop. I called them bedtime candies. I switched to gummy vitamins. You know, they make candy. Yeah, but I like to have a justification, you know. You can just eat candy right before you go to bed. I'm sorry, this is not where you thought this intro was going, did you? No, but I expected an exorcism and instead it's an intervention. So I wasn't... I'm off the tums, though.
Starting point is 00:01:08 I'm off the tums. Good, I'm really glad to hear that. So maybe I can help you with that ghost problem that you have. Oh yeah, yeah, the knocking that everyone's familiar with? Sure. By the way, this is an episode of WhereWaf Ambulance. I'm Alan. We're a show, I'm Katie. And we're here to talk about a movie. But before we talk about that movie that Polo with clapping. Whoa, you're right. Land, Marco Polo. We're here to talk about the James Wan directed The Conjuring. You love this movie.
Starting point is 00:01:54 Yeah, Amityville Horror part Amityville Horror. Yeah. With Joe Lies when he cries, lady from the haunting. And fucking office face. I love Ron Livingston and I will not hear a bad word about him. Well we're going to. I won't hear them though, okay? Like you can say them but I just won't hear them. Yeah. Do you know where I am? Right next to me. You just looked at me while you did that. I see you though it's not all the game works. I don't think. I see you though it's tho though though th. It's though though th th th th th th th tho th tho th tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho- I tho- I tho tho tho tho th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I the. I the. I the. I to say about Ron Livingston? Let's get into it. All right, go. Go.
Starting point is 00:02:27 So this is a movie about a haunted house. Ed and Lorraine Warren are the occult investigator, religious nutbars that come. They are made famous from Amneyville Horror. That was the thing that got them on the map. Yeah, they are real people. Yeah, they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they thing that got them on the map. Yeah. They are real people. Yeah, they still are real people. Yes, Lorraine is still alive.
Starting point is 00:02:46 The Enfield Poldergeis was another big thing that they were involved in, which I think is now the Conjuring Two. Oh, cool. And a bunch of other demonology things and whatnot. I am not a fan is the story of them helping a family made up of Joe Lise and office space. Yeah. And uh, 36 kids. It's like a reality show of worth of children. It's like Project Runway for kids. It's just so many, there's so many children. Things got different in the house this year. Boys in the house.
Starting point is 00:03:24 Not Project Runway. I thought that was Project Runway's next time not all. Project Runways where they make clothes and Tom Guns says make at work and I love him. I do love him. It's great. His Hit Gets Better Video just totally made me cry. Oh really? Oh I didn't see, I don't think I could watch that. No, no, no. I'll just love him from th. Ron Ron Ron Ron Ron Ron Ron. Ron. Ron. Ron. Ron. Ron. Ron. Ron. Ron. R. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the the the th. the th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. to. toge. toge. toge. toge. to. toge. to. to. to. toge. to. toge. to. to. to. th. t I could watch that. No, no, it's fine. I'll just love him from over here. I also really love Ron Livingston. I find him so average hunky. I feel like he's such a guy you would see and you'd be like, oh yeah, that guy. I don't have that feeling about him. No, you don't feel like he's an attractive, no.
Starting point is 00:03:54 But he's like a man next door. I'll just get injured right now. I feel like this entire movie he's just phoning it the fuck in. Oh yeah, he does not care. Which is weird because he's not doing a lot of movies. No. When awful things are happening, he's going, well what do I do? It's like I got this pizza. I don't know. What do I know? I got my Sonny Bono wig on, so let's just go and do this. That wig. So, this family is... Yeah, they're a family.
Starting point is 00:04:28 Well, first we see the doll. It opens on the doll and the nurses and I, okay, fucking Annabelle. You're gonna have... I'm gonna explode is what's gonna happen. I'm gonna rage explode and I'm gonna try not to do it. But if I do... You know we're fine, huge, huge, huge, huge, huge, huge, huge, huge, huge, huge, huge, huge, huge, huge, huge, huge, huge, huge, huge, huge, huge, huge, huge, huge, thxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, explode, to explode, to explode, to explode, to explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the to explode, to explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, explode, to. It's, explode, it's, it's, it's, it's, explode, explode. It's, it's, it not to do it, but if I do, you know what's fine, it's fine. If I do, huge ratings. Huge ratings. How many nerd explosions have they been on broadcast? Probably a lot, to be honest with you, a lot. So yes, tell me about Annabelle. Yeah, it's a doll. It's a real dick.
Starting point is 00:04:57 It's real ugly. And for some reason, these nurses, these student, the student, the student, the student, the student, the student, the student, the student, the student, the student, the student, the student, the student, the student, the student, the student, the student, the student, the student, the student, the student, the student, the student, the student, the student, the student, the student, the students, the the the the the the the the the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the the the the the the the the the the the the the the thuxes, thu., their their their thu., their their their thu., their their their th crayons? I thought it stole the crayons. Where did they, why did they have all those crayons? Because they're nurses? Sure. The next note I have says, that demon trying to fuck you, but I don't know why. Probably because they were, they says, and like the demon's trying to get inside you. Oh, they. And I, they's, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, why, why, why, why, why, why, why, why, why, why, why, why, why, why, why, why, why, why, why, why, why, why, why, why, why, why, why, why, why, why, why, why, why, why, why, why, why, why, why, why, why, why, why, why, why they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they's they's their their their their their their their their their their their their they's they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're their their their the demons trying to get inside you and I was like, yeah, fuck that demon. I don't know. So they, there's a doll and it's, it's so stupid. Then the warrens have it in like their house of treasures where like, there are things that are haunted or used to be haunted, but they also say that they don't, the ghost, don't ha-tha-d-thaunt their...... Or, or demons, or demons, or demons, or demons, or demons, or demons, or demons, or demons, or demons, or demons, thii. thi. their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, the, the, the, the, the, the, their, their, their, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their use them as vessels to get other things. What does that mean? I don't know. You were raised Catholic, am I correct in that? Yes, I am that confirmed Catholics. I think I'm Catholic till I die whether I like it or not. Oh, right? That's what I was told. I was Protestant went to church so I was eight. Did you grew up believing in demons't like a thing that you were threatened with. Never. Never. Okay. Just one. I mean, I don't think, I think that's a, it's just, it's stupid.
Starting point is 00:06:08 It's very, very stupid. Because that's, I mean, this is all about getting in toubts of the Vatican and hanging out with priests and all that jazz. I mean, no. I mostly just thi thi th thi th th th th thi thi th thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi that's just that's just that's just just just just just just just heard just heard just heard just heard just that's just that's just that's just just just just just that's just just just just just just just just just that's just just just just just just just that's just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the you have to go tell somebody about your sins and you have to like make something up real quick. We see this room that they're keeping all the shit in and their daughter Judy tries to go in and they're like, no, no, no. You don't go in the room with all the toys in it. Stuff going in our demon cave.
Starting point is 00:06:38 Yeah. Why is it? . your house. Why do you expect a child to not go in there? She's a child. It's not locked, is it? I don't know. It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. They had the coin signs that were on everything? Oh, I didn't notice that. They're just like, demonologist cave, don't go in here? Oh, yeah, yeah. Yeah. Never entered this room. Touch nothing. Andthen we see the scene that's in every fucking movie ever made where the family pulls up to the new house and the kids jump out of the car and they're all yelling and they're singing a song and the teenager hates it and the dad's like ah rawha, how many times have you seen that? Amityville too? Every movie. Every movie ever mi. Every titanic in that? Citizen Kang! Citizen Kang! Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:27 Uh, yeah. No, that's all the movies I know. That's it? Mm-hmm. So they're moving into this new house. Lovely house. Great house. Sure. There's a million of these people. And they live in this big house. Yeah. In Rhode Island? Really? I think big house. Yeah. In Rhode Island? Really? I think Rhode Island. Who cares? Who makes a movie set in Rhode Island?
Starting point is 00:07:51 Well, it's based on true events. Oh, yeah. Their pictures were at the end. True events. That woman had great legs. Oh, I do have the note that Debbie threw the doll away. Oh, yeah. Debbie threw the doll away. So they just hold the dumb thing with like the doll writes all over their house and throw it away and then it comes back and it knocks and... It says miss me? Question mark? Yeah, I am I mean never gonna be
Starting point is 00:08:11 afraid of a doll. No, I'm just not into dolls. Well I guess I was afraid of Chuckie a lot as a child. Were you? Yeah, I'm not now. Yeah. I'm smarter than that now. You're smarter than these nurses. Yeah, really? Yeah, so they're setting up the house. Did you like that they're hanging wind chimes? Are you excited about that? Maybe the windchimes attracted the demon,
Starting point is 00:08:35 because wind chimes are for dicks. I don't have the same problem with in your hatred of wind chimes? I don't hate a lot of things, but I hate the things I hate with a lot of hatred. Ah. So pretty quickly in this house, they find like the secret entrance to the basement? Yeah. Where the furnace is? Exactly. Had that thing never been serviced?
Starting point is 00:08:57 Had they never had a problem? Was no one ever like, where's the fucking furnace? Yeah, when you're buying a house, do you not see what's going to heat that house? That's literally what they look at. That's what you look at. They take you on a tour and show you this thing. They're like, this is what it is. And they point at it is. And they point at it's what it is. You then have people come out and look at the house. But also like someone who lived there before with the furnace.
Starting point is 00:09:26 It's a furnace. It's a furnace. You have five children that you need to make sure are heated in Rhode Island in the winter. That's right. I got a little bit of Rhode Island accent in there. Yeah. I like that. I like that. And then the ghosty stuff starts happening, which is like, tha, tha, th, th, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, tho, thi, thi, thi, thi, tho, tho, the the the the the the the the th. the the, the the, the the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, th, th, th, th, to, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi... It, thi. It's, thi. It's, thi. thi. It's, thi. thi. It's, thi. It's, thi. It's, thi. It's, door like a er, which is so, are you afraid of the dark? And I kind of like that. Yeah. I like an
Starting point is 00:09:48 are you afraid of the dark? This movie is very, very, very referential. Yeah, there's a lot of things that reminded me of other things for sure. Yes. And then pigeons keep flying into the house? Are the pigeons? Are the pigeons? Are the pigeons? Pige pigeons? P pigeons? P pigeons. P pigeons? P pigeons. P pigeons? P pigeons. P pigeons? Yeah. P pigeons? Yeah. P. P. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. the. the the the the the the the the th. the th. the th. thiii. th. th. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Are th. Are th. Are th. Are th. Are th. Are th. Are th. Are th. Are th. Are th. Are th. Are th. Are th. Are th. Are th. Are th. Are th. Are th. Are th. Are. Are. Are th. Are. Are th. Are thi. Are thi. Are the thi. Are the thi. Are the thi. thi. the the thi. the thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. Are th are so fucking dumb though. You know what I mean? Like, how often do you almost hit a pigeon with your car or with your feet because they just don't get out of the way? I don't think they're dumb. I think they have a fuck you attitude that I kind of enjoy about pigeons. This is our house? The sidewalks are the street and the street and they kind of just like cocked their cocked their cocked to cocked their cocked their cocked to cocked their cocked their cocked their cocked to cocked to cocked their cocked their cocked to their cocked their cocked their to their their their their their their their their their their their their to get a to get a to get a their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their th. th. the. the. thi thi. thi. theeat. teat. teat. teat. te. Yeah. There used to be a woman downtown who was feeding pigeons, like outside the Port Authority place where you go to buy your connect card.
Starting point is 00:10:31 Yeah. And she would just throw seed everywhere and it would be like fucking thousands of pigeons. It was like that scene in Home Alone. It was awful. Awful. She's the wet bandit now. Yeah. Um, we start to see all of these like ghosty things happen.
Starting point is 00:10:49 Like the kid, it's just so many scenes of, and that you've seen in other movies, like the kid talking to the empty chair. Oh, yeah. Jody, I mean, Rory? Yeah. Yeah. People sleeping with their feet exposed because who does that you know I do I know you're wrong there there is but to be fair I don't I don't hate this at this point I don't hate it no the fine the go the ghosty stuff is fine can I give James Wan a compliment I probably not dude does jump scares
Starting point is 00:11:17 so good yeah those like things coming into the scene and scaring you excellent nails it the so the family and scaring you? Excellent. Nails it. So the family plays this game called Hide and Clap, which I have the note was Hide and Seek copywritten and therefore you couldn't use it in your movie. Well I feel like the way they ended up using it was really scary. Really Effective. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I loved that. I loved it. Yeah. There's also a shot that I really liked where one of the girls is looking under her bed and it's like an upside down to right side up under the bed to their shot and I thought it was really, really good.
Starting point is 00:11:52 They did one of my favorite things which is someone staring into blackness and saying something's there but not showing me what's there. Yeah. Love a show. . That scene was really scary. don't tell yeah or love a tell don't show tell don't show yeah and that scene was really scary very scary until the girl says he said he wants my family yeah to really chewing up this scene kid she's overacting to try and pick Rod Livingston up a little bit from his stupor he's like what's dead
Starting point is 00:12:23 what's dead mean What's dead mean? Wait, is there a family here? Where'd you all come from? Why do I have so many of you? Have some pizza. He just took that fucking attitude from office space right into this movie. It's true. If he could do anything, you would do nothing at all, so. Yeah, so we've got the clock stopping stopping 3, 307, Andy Villahara, the clock stop at 3 something every night.
Starting point is 00:12:48 So there's all these things, and I'm just, oh, come on. But the jump squares are really good. Yeah. And they continue to be really good, I think, through the movie. Yeah. There's the great thing where the kids are playing, hide and clap, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, the, the, the, the, the, thi, thi, the, thi, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, thi, thi, the, the, the, the, they. So, they. So, they. So, the, the, the, the, the, th. So, th. So, th. So, th. So, th. So, th. So, th. So, th. So, th. So, th. So, th. So, th. So, all, th. So, all, all, th. So, all, th. So, all. And, all. And, the, the, the, the, they. they. they. they. they. the, all. the, the, they. they. the, all. the, all. So, all. So, all. So, all. So, all. mom's chasing the one girl around. And like, the arms come out of the wardrobe and clap. And I was like, oh, that's really nice. And that's a really nice show. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:09 Like a really nice, same thing with a woman on top of the wardrobe later on. Yeah, I have mixed feelings about her. OK. I find, I thought she was scary when they first showed her. thii. I th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that, that's a that's a really, that's a really, that's a really, that's a really, that's a really, that's a really, that's a really, that's a really. And that's. And that's. And that's. And that's a really. And that's a really. And that's a really. And, and that's a really. And, and that's a really. And, that's a really. And, that's a really. And, th. And, th. And, that. And, that. And, that. And, that. And, that. And, that. that. that's a th. that's a really. that's a that's a really, that's a really, that's a really. that's a really. that's a really. that's a she is I know they say like there's a witch or something yeah I didn't understand who any of the ghosts actually were there's a these people love a little kid they love like have you seen insidious yeah I did it's like every type of ghost lives in this house yeah they've got the Danzig ghost ghost they've got it's very first season of American horror story. Ugh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:46 I liked that one. Did you? I do love Coach's wife. And what's his name? The guy with the butt? It doesn't matter. Shit! What is his name?
Starting point is 00:13:55 Uh, ass cheeks. Yeah. Butman? Rupert Everett? Yeah. No, the younger. th. Rupert Everett? Yeah, no he's British. Dylan McDermott? Dylan McDermott. Yeah. And the younger sister of Lorraine Warren from this movie. That girl who was in
Starting point is 00:14:11 like the first couple seasons of American Horror Story like the main, the daughter. Okay, really? The sister of the woman who plays Vera. Farm, farmy. Yeah. And her, yeah, it doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. Nothing matters anymore. And so we're seeing this happening to this family and then we're also kind of following the warrens who are checking out places that are supposed to be haunted. Most of the time they're saying it's not haunted. They've sorted out with pipes and vents and air flows. And they're really leaving the kid a lot.
Starting point is 00:14:42 Of course. The premise is that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that th is they's is they are they are they are they are they are they are they are they are th is they are course. The premise is that they're like, Lorraine Warren is a fucking saint. Like, that this movie should be called The Conjuring, colon, Lorraine Warren is a fucking saint. Because they just are so convinced that she could do no wrong. She's leaving that child. Constally. Nana is raising the fuck out of that kid, you know? This is bringing up a good point that I wanted to toucest. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:05 You know in the movie, The Exorcist? That. Yes, I do. OK. I've seen it. Like, I love that Father Carus is flawed. Yeah. He's questioning his faith.
Starting point is 00:15:16 He's probably got a drinking problem. thoaks too. to that smokes. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that's. that. that. that. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's. that's. that's. that's. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that's. that's. that's. that. that. that. that's. that. that. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the toda. the today. the the the today. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the thia. the the the thia. thi. these flaws. I love, you know, and I feel like that's, you know, that's in Amityville too with that priest. He's very like, although he, I mean, he's a goody two shoes, but he's like, he's got like a lot of conflict going on. Sure. The warrants have no conflict whatsoever. Very one note. Except for the fact that they are just leaving their child to be raised, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, ththis is a wrong thing for them to do. Because they always swoop in and save her at the last second. Well, like, maybe just don't leave her all the time.
Starting point is 00:15:48 Yeah. You're like, we have this locket so we can look at pictures of one another. Like, maybe just look at her face. Maybe just look at her face. Yeah. It felt like a big, and I this this this this this this this this this this was th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. thee. the. the. the. the. this is just them jerking off all over the place with their also that man who plays Ed Warren I find to be so disconcerting. I just really don't like him. He's so schmoo-mey. Do you know what I mean? Define schmoo me. It's like smug and smarmy and his skin is very smooth which I don't like. He's a little bit shiny and he's just always like, eh, schmoomy. Do you know what I mean? I do. I
Starting point is 00:16:34 also find him undiagnosably disconcerting as well like I can't put my finger on what I don't like him. It's schmoomy. I should have said shmooby from the beginning. I don't like about him, but I don't like it. It's schmoomy. I should have said schmooby from the beginning. I don't know. And Lorraine Warren, beautiful actress, what is she, I don't think she wanted to be in this movie either, but she's in the sequel so I don't know. Farmija. That's a, I is in that show. I really like Lorraine Warren's outfits in this movie.
Starting point is 00:17:10 I love her hair. Yeah. I was basically trying to do that with my hair. It does not. I feel like there's a lot of curlers involved and getting that shit. I don't have those. I don't have those or fingers that can make hair. I do have fingers that can make hair if you need that to. One thing at a time.
Starting point is 00:17:28 Ah! My hair! What the fuck are we doing? I don't know. So things just keep escalating, and I'm on board on this, up to this point. I am having a good time, I'm enjoying the jump scares. Yeah, I normally jump scares I feel like uh about but I really enjoyed them I like I like when the mom gets knocked down the stairs knocking knocking the stairs too, very scary. Very nice. I love getting getting knocked down. Yeah I love the
Starting point is 00:18:00 sets too like I love that weird cat picture that's in the older daughter's room on the mantle. I just love it. It's just a weird shit. I do have the, so there's a point where, as they will do, the ghost knocked down all the family photographs. Yeah. So maybe they should have painted the wall and that's what the ghost was laying in their Yeah. Don't hang your photos before you paint your wall. Come on, bunnies. They seemed, yeah, I don't know. I don't know. Well, there's also that photo of them taken against the Microsoft wallpaper, on the desktop wallpaper.
Starting point is 00:18:32 Here's the thing about that whole bit, and this really bothered me later, is like, the actress who plays Joe Lies when he cries? Lily Taylor. She's competent. She's a perfectly fine actress. Sure, we know her from the haunting. Which she was competent enough. I don't need this long drawn out thing about how she loves her children. I believe that she loves her children.
Starting point is 00:18:56 I believe she loves her daughters and she wants to protect them and she wants what's best for them and she's afraid for them. I believe that without you being like I believe that without that without that without that without that without that without that without that without that without that without that without without without without without that without you being like, and we went to the beach, and Lorraine Warren is a saint, you know, like, I just sound that like almost insulting. Well, you've got to have the beach, the beach put in theirs, because the beach is what's gonna save them in the end, as it saves all of us. What do you mean? Because she has to remember that trip to the beach at the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the beach. Just remember that trip to the beach at the end of the movie. Imagine if just like vacation memories could save you from a demon.
Starting point is 00:19:26 Not Latin, not God, not priests, vacation photos. I mean, they're at least real. I guess so. It's true. I have two notes that I'm very proud of back to back. Shoot. Ed Warren feels like he is made of clay. He is Claymation. And fucking Banks always screwing you. So that's pretty much this movie. What was the Banks thing for? I think it was that they sold in this house that was fucked up.
Starting point is 00:19:56 Oh, okay. Okay. Fucking banks. And there are creepy things, like we see Ed Warren recording a conversation with Joe Lies when he cries. What is her name in this movie? Lily Taylor? Yeah, she's a...
Starting point is 00:20:12 Brenda. Brenda. Is your name Brenda? It's definitely not Brenda. Uh, Deborah. Jennifer. Paula. Keep going.
Starting point is 00:20:24 We'll get it next time. Lindsay. Nina. Champagne. Chanel. Carrell. Carolyn. Wasn't that far off with Chanel. Where he's recording the conversation with her and then playing it back and her voice didn't record. I thought that was super creepy. I thought that was like a really nice just weird little touch. But then they have to go and have the tape turn itself on and it's like, ra-rah. But both, Ed and Lorraine Warren are looking at it like they're trying to solve a math problem. Like, they're not like, they're not like, they're just looking at it like what does X equal? Like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, what, what, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, what, like, like, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, th. th. th. they're, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, they're just looking at it like, what does X equal? Like, it's so strange. Excuse me.
Starting point is 00:21:08 Or they're just going, what am I doing exactly? What's happening here really? And there's like this backstory about Lorraine had seen something terrible and then a little piece of her was gone? Yeah. What piece? Her fingers, her fingers that make hair? Well, yeah, there's that guy with the white eyes that they keep showing the flashback footage.
Starting point is 00:21:28 I love the footage that they show at their, at the talks that they're doing at the universities. That's always like, it's like 10 seconds of something. And then this stuff happened. We didn't get any of that stuff on film. If you had really had video like that, people would believe you. Yeah. You know, they don't have video like that. No, they've nothing. It's like those fucking ghost hunting shows, man. Yeah. Do you see, bro? Bro, bro, bro, did you see that? Come at me? Did you see that, bro? No, no one did it?oser than that. But the waist is so tight. I also have a note that says, yeah, always proclaim your love for Satan, which I think has something
Starting point is 00:22:14 to do with that voice recordings, but I don't remember what. I don't remember that happening either. I don't know, it doesn't matter. None of it matters. None of it matters, does it? None of it matters. Let's see, I can leave off my note about how I hate demons possessing people who have been sexually assaulted, because I feel like it blames them. What?
Starting point is 00:22:35 There's the whole like back story thing where the guy with his eyes like had the white eyes that was like that she saw something that took a piece of her. There's just like running trope in these stories and stuff where the stories. sts stuff stuff stuff stuff stuff stuff stuff stuff stuff stuff stuff stuff stuff stuff stuff stuff stuff stuff stuff stuff. their. tho. tho. tho. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi, thi, thi, th. I th. I th. I can th. I can th. I can, I can, I can, I can, I thi, I thi, I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi, I thi, I thi, thi, thi, thi, the. the. the. thea, thea, thea, thea, thea, thea, thea, the. the. the. the. the. that she saw something that took a piece of her. There's just like running trope in these stories and stuff where people who were molested as children are like open for demons to come inside of them. Okay. I can't remember the book that I read recently where that was like one of the main troops in it. But it's just like the sort of reoccurring the people who have been sexually assaulted and putting like keeping more on them. Yeah, they've suffered enough. Well, and I also feel like this whole like this, to get serious for a second, I feel like this whole demonology thing that people, that people of certain religious bents put on things is a way to dehumanize people with mental illness. Yeah, right. You've read Will's Store versus the Supermanatural. I thought that he had like met with Ed and Lorraine Warren or something.
Starting point is 00:23:29 And I went back and looked through that book trying to find that passage and I couldn't find it. He goes with this guy named Lou Gentil. Yeah. Yeah. . Yeah.............. and my friend, me and Josh from the Nehemiacs episode, got our picture taken with him.
Starting point is 00:23:46 Hi Josh. And in the photo, you can tell that he knows that we think he's shit. But anyway, we just think the demonology is things. I think you're shi. This is bunking him. Can I get my picture with him? Will Store versus the Supernatural, they go down south somewhere and someone shows them an exorcism video, which is just a dude kneeling on a kid's chest who has turrettes. Yeah. And the guy's so bummed out about it. But Lugentilli's reaction to it was you've got to destroy that tape. Oh yeah, that's true. Because you're going to get in trouble if anyone ever sees that tape tape. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. the the the the the the the the the the the the kneel on the chest of children with Tourette's or any child.
Starting point is 00:24:26 So that's why this stuff bums me out. Yeah. But I mean, I think that's deep religion though. Like, I almost feel surprised that you asked me about that. Because we're such like practical Catholics. Okay. And I think a lot of people who are Catholic in 2016 probably are practical Catholics where like I never heard a demon mentioned outside of a movie in my whole life. You know what I mean? It's just so it seems like it's deep religion. Yeah I just have
Starting point is 00:24:52 such a in my in my day-to-day life I have such like a tangentral relationship to religion. I just didn't know if like you having a family that had a history of Catholicism if this was more of a... Anywho. So, yeah, Lorraine saw some shit. She's been in the shit. She's a saint, though, goddamn say. She's a goddamn saint. Really colored saint. Yeah, perfect skin saint. I have a real question.
Starting point is 00:25:15 Shoot. What does a UV light actually show? Because they use them in ghost stuff, but they also use them on law and order. It shows semen in law and order. And blood. And like saliva, I think. You've got to put like some chemical on stuff. I don't know. I'm not a detective cop. We just used them for black light posters when I was a kid.
Starting point is 00:25:34 Yeah. I just don't know what. So it just showed weed smoke as far as I remember. I just don't know what they're proving the proving their their their their they're proving they're proving they're proving they're proving they're proving they're proving their they're proving they're proving they're proving their their they're proving their their I think the same the the the idea is that it's showing the same thing that a crime scene would like there's some residue left behind and fine. Fine. Yeah. You five kids there's residue on every fucking thing in your house. Do you know what I mean? I do, I do, but it comes to it comes in handy when they got to find the little girl. Does it? R. they? the it the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the their their their their, into the into the wardrobe in a Narnia and they figure out that there is the
Starting point is 00:26:09 the like blank space in the wall behind the wardrobe and that's where the little girl's hiding but they figure that out because they see her footprints going up to the back of the wardrobe. Remind me who Rory is? I know he's a little lord. the little little's a little lord Fontey, um, I think his mother killed him That's the whole he she made me do it thing. Okay, so here wait, I wanted this is where I need to get into this So bob a boom, let's do it. I do not understand any of the back story Lorraine's like there was a witch here and then other people killed people and the maid killed herself and everyone's like, throw. the the the the the the the maid the maid the maid killed the maid killed he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he's he's he's he's he's hea. that's heat. that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's he he th. th. th. th. the. th. the. the. that's th. that's that's the. that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's like oh yeah what like what the fuck are you talking about you fucking lunatic I don't know so there was a and I guess the witch killed herself she hung herself and that's the hanging body we keep seeing and that's the boss is that the frizzy-haired woman yeah she's also the croucher okay and then there's the maid why did the maid the maid is in the scene going um look what she made me do the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the maid is the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the scene going, um, look what she made me do, look what she made me do.
Starting point is 00:27:05 And I actually really like that, and it reminded me a lot of the sixth sense. Like, those ghosts in the house, felt very sixth sense to me, and which was a movie, as you know, I love, I love, thrown. Because they're always walking in and out of rooms. I think so. And Bruce Willis. And I love Bruce Willis. It doesn't. Probably a lot of people, yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:25 Really? If you hate Bruce Willis, tell us why. Yeah, no, there is a very six. I mean, again, it's another reference point for this movie. Yeah, a lot of things reminded me of the six cents, which I think boosted this movie for me a little bit. Okay, but why was she, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the witch, the witch, the witch, the witch, the witch, the witch, the witch, the witch, the witch, the witch, the witch, the witch, the witch, the witch, tha, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, th.... It, th. It, th. It, th. It, th. It, th. It's, tha, tha. 6. 6. 6. 6. 6. 6. 6. 6. 6. 6. 6. 6. 6. 6. 6. 6. Sixth. It, there, this farmland they got parceled up into a bunch of different houses and so the witch cursed everybody because they find that big map and they show you where everything's been parsled out and they and it's got like red dots where
Starting point is 00:27:54 everybody like where different people died on this land. So it's it's basically an Indian burial ground. Yeah but a white lady witch. Okay. Well, whatever, then. Here comes Ed Warren and his Argyle Cardigan. I don't know. The movie keeps progressing through, like, it keeps one-upping and getting a little bit worse for the family. Especially the mother who's covered in like mystery bruises. Also, like, some things are happening to Judy, the Ed and Larine Warren's child. Right. She's having like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the the the the the th. the the the the m. the m. the m. the m. the m. the m. the m. the m. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. thi. th. thi. thi. th. thi. thi. thi. the. the. th child. Right. She's having like weird stuff having to her. I can't figure out how that was connected.
Starting point is 00:28:27 I don't know. I don't think it matters. That seemed to be Annabelle related. Oh, because there's the scene where the, oh no, because there's the witches in their house Okay, yeah maybe. I think. I mean it's just that's the thing is like it's very disjointed feeling. Yeah, yeah I don't know and I just kept being like, hey Nana, where are you on this? Like why are you not taking care of this? I don't know. Like the second half of the movie just seems to like kind of lose the plot of it. It seems like they didn't know how to the to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the to to the to the to the to the the to the to to the to to the to to to the the the the the the to to to the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the thoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo too the the the the plot of the the the 't know how to wrap it up. Oh yeah well we can get to that. Okay. I also
Starting point is 00:29:05 admire the Warren's commitment to ugly wallpaper. There's ugly wallpaper. There's ugly. There's ugly wallpaper. There's ugly. There's plenty of wallpaper. There's ugly. I'm sorry a wallpaper. I like why? I like how you just had to take that back and like feel bad about it. So then this cop shows up, right? Like we talk about the cop, this big butted cop. You're really into answers today. I'm just, I'm just wanna talk about dude butts today. Yes, the big bloody.
Starting point is 00:29:41 Yeah, the cop and Danny, Alex, who's the other guy that shows up? Their assistant? It doesn't matter. The cop's name is Brad. Is it? Yeah, and I refer to him as a beef cake at some point in my notes. That's a good knit. Yeah, he's got like the Tom Selicie Stash and the threw.
Starting point is 00:29:59 theykselk, their assistant. Okay, sure. Who drew in the, the, drew and the cop are kind of the comedic relief. Yeah, but not really, because they're not that funny. But they're also, they're the same characters that are basically the woman's assistant in Insidious. Oh, yeah, you're right. Did James Wan make Insidius? Yeah. And schmoomy guy. Shmumi guy? He's the dad. Yeah, Patrick Wilson. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. the th. the th. th. the th. th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the cop. the cop. the cop. the cop. the cop. the cop. the cop. the cop. the cop. the cop. the cop. the cop. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the c. the c. the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Drew and th. Drew and thrue. Drew and thrue. Drew and thrue. tr. true. true. true. thrue. thrue. thrmoomy guy? He's the dad. Is he? Patrick Wilson, yeah. Get the fuck out of here with that shit. Don't keep making the same movie. Why, it makes them a million butt dollars. I guess. Hunky, hunky boy butt dollars.
Starting point is 00:30:36 All right, fine. I have the note right before Brad gets bitten. Yeah. I feel like I'm the the sometimes when I drink. But I don't know what I meant by that. I wonder what I was telling. Let's parse that. What's going on there? What is going on there? Is it getting bitten? I'm not biting people, am I?
Starting point is 00:30:54 I have the note. You have the tree from sleepy hollow in your backyard? What do you think's going to happen? Yeah, someone's definitely gonna hang on themselves from it. My notes are just, I like, and just, they're just getting progressively angrier and angrier, like, why doesn't anyone know where the fucking basement is probably under the goddame kitchen? This is when I think Lorraine, Warren falls like through the floor, through the floor, and no one runs's hitting the walls. Who are you? She's in the mother fucking basement, you dumb shit, mother fucker, schmooming, son of a bitch. How awful most it be to heat that house when you have four feet of space in the wall?
Starting point is 00:31:32 I don't know. Where's the furnace? You would never know. It's probably they don't wait. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And then, they, they, they, they, they. And, they. And, they. And, they. And, they. And, they, they. And, they, they. And, they, they, they, they. And, they, they, they, they. And, they, they're, they're, they're, the. And, the. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. the. the. their. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. th. th. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. the. to. to. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the little girl and he starts trying to pry up the kitchen floorboards. Like, you know what's under the kitchen? The basement. Oh, my God. Oh, mom smells like rotting meat.
Starting point is 00:31:56 The power of parenthood compels you. Like, okay, so just the way this ends, the way they end the haunting is by wrapping her in a sheet, the mother, Chanel. That's Carolyn? Chanel. Fine. And when he cries. Yeah, she got, she shot Andy Warhol.
Starting point is 00:32:17 Yeah. I don't, I don't know. They put her in a sh- So it just keeps getting, like, the effects keep getting progressively dumber. Yeah, she's getting like thrown, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, the, the, the, the, the, thrown, the, the, the, the, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, the mother, the mother, the mother, the mother, their, their, the mother, the mother, the mother, the mother, the mother, the mother, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, the, the.a, tho, thea, that, tho-s, tho-s, tho-s, the mother, the mother, the mother, the mother, the mother, the mother, the mother, the mother keeps getting, like, the effects keep getting progressively dumber. Yeah. She's getting like, thrown around the basement. Yeah. Real dumb, like, just into like a refrigerator.
Starting point is 00:32:34 So they put her in a chair. I was like, why is this cop not using his handcuffs? Then he's like, click some, and I was like, fine movie. I did like the effect of when they've vomomomomomomomomomomomomomfed liked, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, thi, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the th. th. th. th. th. th. the th. the the the th. the the the the the the the the th. the the th. th. the th. the. thr. the. thrown. the. I did like the effect of when they've got the sheet over and it starts like she vomits blood into the sheet. Oh I thought she sneezed blood. Oh I was like that. I was like that. I was like that. I did that in the winter sometimes. Just a thing that happens. Just a thing that that happens. And then that kind of like the witch's face. It's just stupid stupid. the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. It's just like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. face under there and I was like, alright, I like that. Oh, I didn't like that. Sorry, no. I just don't have to apologize to me. It's just stupid. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:08 And then like, they just say some Latin and she thinks about the beach and then it's over. What does that mean? I don't know what that means. I think it was the witch's name name name name name. That's name. That's name. That's name. That's name. That's name. That's name. That's name. That's name. That's a. That's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's just. That's just. That's just. That's just. That's just. It's just. It's just. It's just. It's just. It's just. It's just. It's just. It's just. It's just. It's just. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's just. It's just. It's just. It's just. It's just. It's just stupid. It's just stupid. It's just stupid. It's just just just stupid. It's just just just stupid. It's just just a that's just a that's just just just a th. It's just just just a that's just just a that's just just a that's just just a that's just. It's just. It's just. It's just. It's like naming your son Jeeves, like he won't be nothing but a butler or an internet search engine. You know what I mean? You're just setting them up. I mean my kid Google. What's he going to do? What's he going to do?
Starting point is 00:33:32 Nothing. Or everything, depending on how you look at it. And then she's fine. And she like, the kid's like, thin' the child, that's thin' thin' thin' thin' thin' thin' thin' thin' thin' thin' thin' thin' thin' tooomsooom's thin' thin' thin' thin' thin' thin' thin' thin' thin' thi. the thin' thin' thin' to to to to their their their thery to stab you with scissors it will not happen again like the kids like okay I was really hoping the cop car that was pulling down the driveway when she was apologizing to her kid was coming to arrest her for being a terrible mother yeah although she really loves her kids which you never would have known without them just like being super explicit about how much the kids so so so so the the the th the th their th th their th th th th th th th their their their th th their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their I their I their I I their I their I their I I their I I their I I I I their I I I I their I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I their I I I their their their their their their their th th th thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi tttttry ttry tttttttry tttttttry the th the the the the the the the the the the the the the theory. Please. If you're telling me that you love your kids so much, you probably don't love your kids.
Starting point is 00:34:07 If you have to keep reminding me that you love your children, more than words. But yeah, she's just ringing that bill a little too hard. Yeah, I would, but that's the thing, like, you would have believed she was a loving mother. She'd given us no evidence to that point. Meanwhile the real bad mother is Lorraine Warren. Poor Judy's just getting, having the worst time. He looked her in a house full of monsters. Literally. And they're like, oh fuck, we forgot about Judy, like... Do you think he jerked off in that room full of the artifacts? Peeh! Ph! Yeah. I do. I think he did. In fact, I'm sure you did.
Starting point is 00:34:47 Yeah. Probably. Yeah. That's all. Katie? What? Do you want to move on to the ratings face? Why don't you go first? So I've stated this before and I've stated it ad nauseum I don't like the Stuarts movies. Yeah, I'm not a fan. But that said I keep going back to the well because they're part of the culture that I'm considering my student part of. And the first half of this movie I was totally on board. Jump scares got me, that primal under the bed fear, totally good and then it just lost me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me the me the. the. the. the. the. the. the. I the. I the. the thate. the. the. the. the. the. I the first the. the. the. I don't th. I don't th. I don't th. I don't th. I don't th. I don't th. I don't th. Ial under the bed fear totally good and then it just lost me and it like lost me so bad that the first half gets ruined. Yeah and it's happened twice
Starting point is 00:35:31 now that I've seen this movie. Did you hate it as much the second time? No because I knew what I was going to hate. Okay I see. I was just the first time I was because I was super on board the first time I was like this is fun. th I'm th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. I'm th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thee theee theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. theee. the. the. th on board the first time. I was like, this is fun. I'm having a really good time watching this movie. And then by the second half, I was like, this sucks. I do not like this at all. Yeah. Three. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:35:54 I think for me, this suffered a little bit from someone being like, this is so bad. thrown. from someone being like, this is so bad, it's so bad, you won't believe how bad it is, because I know how much you hate it. So I was expecting it to be much worse than it was. And that first half, I think, is actually legitimately good. I think it's very well shot. I think the jumpsuits are great. I think the characters, though some are what happens to them other than the Warrens which I don't care if they fall down a well yeah spoiler alert they don't but I didn't hate it as much as I think you did but only because I was just
Starting point is 00:36:34 amping myself up to hate it and I think it just sort of they didn't know how to end it and they were like well we'll exercise her you know like how we do an exorcism we'll just put her in their in a a their in their in their in their in. their in. their in. their in. I I I I I I their. I th. I th. I'll just th. I'll just th. I'll just th. I'll just th. I'll just th. I'll just th. I'll just th. I'm just th. th. th. I'm just. I'm just. I'm just. I'm just. I'm just. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'll just. I'll just. I'll. I'll. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I I I I I I I's. I I's. I's. I I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I'll. I'll. And I'm. And I'm. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And. And th. And th. And. And th. And th. And they's like. And I'm. And I, you know, like, how do we do an exorcism? We'll just, we'll just put her in the chair, right? Like, and put a towel over? Right? You know, jeans, is that cool? Latin? Is that good? You know, you know? I mean, do you think in the original tale that because you would like, really, what's the opposite of downplay? Up? High-up? Really sell it? Yeah, they'd really sell their involvement and make what they did look really cool, but it didn't look really cool at all. No. Were they like producers on this movie or something? Was she? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:37:19 Maybe, yeah, because Ed's been dead since 2006. God rest his soul. Somebody rest his soul. Boshiva. I was also annoying when you do it was just working on that dude's car without asking him. Yeah, like, this is how I get away from a house full of seven women or however many of them were six women were living in them, you know. A little house on the prairie size amount of women. Yeah. Yeah. So I can't go as low as you did.
Starting point is 00:37:48 I'm going to give it a five. I've seen worse. I've seen worse. Sure. And I really liked those elements that did remind me of the sixth sense. Like I really liked those ghosts. But then there was that fat lady lady that I that I that I that I that I that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that with black metal makeup? Yeah, why? Was she crying? I don't know what that was. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:38:06 And then stuff like that just pisses me off. And also his shmoomy phase. So five, could have been worse, seen worse, seen better. Yeah. Yeah. You know what else is better? Is that good? I love it when you do my segues. I mean they're great because you're like this is dumb by doing this right? I'm doing your dumb thing right. I'm sorry I'm just
Starting point is 00:38:26 always dead panning whenever I'm you. Cryptocurium. Cryptocurium? What's what's that? What's cryptogaring? Well Katie, why don't I tell you about the new exciting news that we told you about last week? You ready? Yeah. I realized I was just nodding. You're not like pointing and I was like, what are you gonna say? What's happening now? What's happening? What's happening is you're talking, you're talking now. And you.
Starting point is 00:38:50 And three, two, go. Cryptocurium, parcel of terror. Jason is doing a very exciting thing for this fall. Halloween, Halloween. We can't just leave it. Oh yeah, yeah, no, it's going to drive people insane. Now they have to finish it themselves. Halloween! I can't do what I'm sorry.
Starting point is 00:39:11 You know how I feel about completing these things when you do them? So, mental problems. So, Jason is doing this awesome thing where he's doing a trick-a-bo-treat box for October. Trick a treat is what kids traditionally say on Halloween. Oh, they do? Yeah, Halloween is a- I thought they just threw shit at my window and said, give me candy, bitch! And I'm like, kids, get out of here.
Starting point is 00:39:33 That's not true. My neighbor kids are very nice. I wish they would would steal their gates and that was the trick. It's really funny or paint your house. Paint your house? They were just like paint spots on your house. That's so di. I know I love it. I believe the 20s were just like... I feel like last week we just talked about how much we hate pranks. And you the last last last last last last last last last last last last last last last. I I I I I I I I the the the the the the the their. I I I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. th. I th. I th. It's the the the the th. It's th. It's the th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's really the. It's really the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the.. Halloween related, probably damage. Halloween related, it totally gets a pass for me. Okay, well, I'm gonna just poop in your front yard. How are you gonna feel about that?
Starting point is 00:40:09 I think I've got two dogs. You're just doing it in the pack. When did the dog get out of here? So drink. I'm just dog me, is this what you're paying us for? Boop talk. They're gonna be filled with Halloween theme sculpts and stories, Halloween theme stories from people.
Starting point is 00:40:36 And you know what Jason does. You know he's gonna knock it out of the fucking park. This dude loves Halloween. He's got to. He's living Halloween. He's basically Mr. Halloween. He's got to. He's living Halloween. Yeah, man. He's basically Mr. Halloween. He's Jack Skellington. This is Halloween. No, I know. Stop doing it to me. Stop doing it to me. You know I can't stop. I feel like people are like, why is she always singing?
Starting point is 00:40:59 She's like basically tone deaf. It's super annoying. No, I'm the lead in and I'm a way worse than you are. And I sung on th th th th th th th th th th he he he's basically he he he's basically th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th thi is basically thi is basically is basically is basically is basically is basically is basically th th th th th th th he's he's basically he's he's he's basically he's he's he's he's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's thi. He's basically thi. He's basically thi. He's basically thi. He's basically thi. He's basically thi. He's basically thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi. He's basically thi. He's thi. It's super annoying. No, I'm the lead-in and I'm a way worse singer than you are, and I sung on records. I sung on the MaxiPad's record sweatpants hookers. I have vinyl pressings of me singing. Weird. What's vinyl pressing? Just kidding. So get in there. These are part of the parcel of terrace.
Starting point is 00:41:21 No, if you sign up for the parcel, the parcel, terror. If you sign up for the parcel of terror, you will get these things. And then for the rest of the year and next year, and as long as you keep paying Jason, you will continue to get cool stuff every month, 35 bucks a month. How would you sign up for such a thing? You go to the crypto curm. CRY PTOC U R I U M dot com. Yes. You got that part. You got the parcel slash parcel of terror subscription box.
Starting point is 00:41:51 And that's never. You can click. Yeah. Click around. Sign up for this. You won't regret it. And this should, this could be your impetus to getting in on this. Because you love Halloween. You love Halloween. You love horror movies, you love Halloween, you're gonna want to get in on this. If you're here, if you're with us, here in episode 96, you love Halloween.
Starting point is 00:42:08 And that is our one sponsor for this week. Hey, thanks for the money. Yeah, so let Jason know that you heard about it from us. Yeah, definitely sign up. And then if you, you know what, this would be a really great gift for someone, someone you know who loves who to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to send it to them. They're gonna love it. Yeah. And or make some kids Halloween. Whoa. And you're like, hey, kid, you're alone trick-or-treating. And I don't want to make this sound creepy.
Starting point is 00:42:33 No, I think you just got weird. Hey, kid, you're alone. You want to check out my toys? Kady. toa tak. tak. tak. tak. tak. tak. tak. tak. tak. thak. thak. to thak. to to to to to to to to to to check. to check. to check. to check. to check. to check. to check to check to check out. to check. to check to check to check out. to check to check to check to check to check to check. to check. to check. to check. to check. to check to check to check to check to check to check to check out to check out my. to check my. to check my. to check my. toyk. toyk. toyk. toyk. toyk. toyk. thea. thea. thea. the. the. tr. tr. tr. tr. tr. tr. tr. tr. tr. tr. tr. tr. toy. toy. toy. toy. t here. Katie? Yeah. Want to take a trip with me? I, in a van? Because no. Well, why don't you take a trip with me to, Mailbag! This is from a listener that we like very much Danica. I love Danica.
Starting point is 00:42:56 She's super funny in Facebook. And she says, hello, bear wolf slambulance. Hey, guys, I'm thirfaxaxaxaxaxaxaxaxaxaxaxaxaxaxaxaxaxaxaxaxaxaxaxaxaxax. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. to to to to to to to thi. thi. the show. So I'm interested in asking you guys about two topics, really. One, horses. Two romantic movie moments. One, did a horse hurt, Katie? I'm always surprised at the horse phobia, especially since I listened to baby geniuses where the horse love knows no bounds. Katie, if you had to defend your horse phobia,
Starting point is 00:43:19 to Lisa Hannawalt, what would your three main arguments be? And two, for either of you, has a horror movie ever resulted in romance? Conversely, has a horror movie ever caused complete and utter failure on that front? When I first met my husband, I tried to put the moves on it by suggesting we stay up late to watch an American whereof in London. Apparently he had never heard of it despite being a film student. Come on, guy. Mr. Danica, does not know. th. th. D. D. D. D. D. D. D. D. D. D. D. D. D. D. D. D. D. D. D. D. D. D. D. D. D. D. D. D. D. D. D. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. to to to to th. to to to to to to to to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. W. W. W. W. W. W. W. W. W. W. W. W. W. W. W. W. W. W. W. W. W. W. W. W. W. W. to. W. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. t. t. t. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to also didn't get the overt subtext of the offer, so he just said, oh no, thanks, let's watch Team America. It was a very unsexy time. Fuck. I think this is a thing with him because he also recalls being asked to watch a movie with
Starting point is 00:43:54 a girl at different time. In this case, a girl he went to film school with wanted to watch a terrible to watch a to watch a to watch a terrible to watch a terrible to watch a terrible to watch a terrible, to watch a terrible, to watch a, to watch a, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, thi. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, tha, tha, tha, tha, tha, tha, tha, tha, tha, tha, tha, t, t, t, t, t, t, t, t, t, t, t, t, t, t, t, t, t, t, t, t, t, t...... tha. tho, tho, tha, tha, tha, tha, tha, ttttte. tttea. te. tte. ttte. te. te. thau. thau. to The Birds. Apparently it was very boring and she suggested they share a blanket at some point, but he didn't really pick up on what she was trying to do. So that's the story how he did not hook up with Natalie from Burntemic. Jesus, great. It's pretty good. Anyway, the show is awesome, not just all right. Unless we're saying all right in the British context, which is actually very to more Tom Savini watch. I haven't seen him lately. Your reviews of 80s and 90s Sherlock Horror, give me life and I hardly endorse any further Tom Cruise digressions. The man is a goddamn American treasure. Best Danica. Thanks, Danica. Horses. Horses. I have never. Horses. I have never touched a horse.
Starting point is 00:44:34 I will never touch a horse. I don't think. I don't think. When I kick start that horse ride for you. Horse riding lessons. Yeah, go on. It's here's if the three the three main arguments would be teeth, teeth and kicking. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Here's what it is. Here's what it is if I'm being perfect. So it's a bite-kick. It's I guess it's more like a bite-kick-you-a-ki-o'-o'-o. the-o. the-o. the-o-s. the-s. the-s. the-s. the-s. the-s. the-s. the-s. the-s. the-s. the-s. the-s. the-s. the-s. the-s. the-s. the-s. the-s. the-s. the-I-I. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. the-I. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. the-s. Yeah. Yeah. the-s. the-s. Yeah. the-s. the-s. the-s. the-s. the-s. the-s. th-s. th-s. th-s. th-s. th-s. th-s. th-s. the-I-I-I-s. the-I-I-I-s. the-I-I. the-I. the-I. Yeah. the-I. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. terrify me. Sure. The fact that they can kick you and like really fuck you up terrifies me and I'm just afraid of a mammal with a huge head that can outrun me. Sure. Like I feel like I can outrun some things but not a horse. And I just feel like the inability to get away from those teeth. I just can't. Oh my God. I share all of your fears of horses. Yeah. But my fear of them makes me respect them. It's like the when you're in a bar and the biker walks in and you're just like whoa, all right. That's what's up. Yeah I guess. And that's what a horse walks in a bar, I'd be like, whoa, that's what's up. What would you do? You just walk away. You'd look away and pretend like you didn't see him? Well, there's a question you have to ask the horse when it walks into the bar.
Starting point is 00:45:46 Please. Why have a long face? Oh. Danica, look what you've done. Look what you've given him opportunity to do. I'd clap. Now, how about the romantic elements? I mean, does that mean have I ever like made out watching a horror movie? I think it means if you ever used it to get your to get your bone down. I mean I've definitely made out watching horror movies but I can't think of anywhere I was like I'm definitely gonna get you know there was no like specific thing that I set out to do. Yeah. I definitely hooked up with a dude in college because he was like come back to my dorm room and watch seven and I was like to tho. And I was like thi th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I've. I've. I've. I've. I've. I've. I've. I've. I've. I've. I've. I've. I've. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. th. I'm. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. te. te. te. te. I'm. up to. Because I was like, what's in the box though? Ugh, you know. I don't think it's a good match, horror and fucking. But isn't it historically like the old trope of like the girl wanting to hold your hand
Starting point is 00:46:37 because you're a horror movie? Yeah, but yeah, no, I've never... I don't have the personality for it, I guess, I guess, I guess, I guess, I guess, I guess, I guess, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, th, th, th, don't know if she's the personality for it, I guess. Nor apparently does Danica's husband. Yo, dog, I'm trying to watch this hard movie. Stop trying to make out with me. Yeah. But what, what is it what's going to happen? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:46:51 Yeah. But yeah, no tendencies. No, I like it. The suicidal tennis? Yeah, thanks, Danica. Yeah, this is fun. Also, thanks for always being so clever on Facebook. You're great.
Starting point is 00:47:15 Yeah. I feel like I need to step my clever gamethe world of our friend and yours, Stephen Kang. Stephen Kang? With That? That? We're going to watch Stephen Kang's That. The minis series that? The two-night event. Stephen King's it. Yeah. They're remaking this so it seems appropriate that we do it. They're doing like a whole series out of it now. Oh really? I just know that the kid from Stranger Things is the kid, is a kid in this. Oh, nice. Yeah. Wait, the entire cast is kids.
Starting point is 00:47:48 What kid from Stranglings? The main boy. Oh, okay. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, what's it? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:47:54 the te' . Mike when he comes and finds her in the club. Oh yeah. Did you guys see that show yet? It's not, whatever. You have, everyone you know who's talking about on the internet. It's like offensive because we were just talking about this at Ladies' Namer, like we watched it on Rob's Netflix profile and it keeps like suggesting it to me and I'm like, do you really think I haven't seen stranger things yet Netflix? I thix. I th but I'm watching, thank you. So yeah, we're going to do Stephen King's It. Yeah, I'm excited.
Starting point is 00:48:28 I love Tim Curry. Yeah, he's great. So yeah, Stephen King's It and Katie, we're fast approaching our 100th episode. Yeah, what are we going to do? It's actually just going to be an hour of you and I clips of our best episodes, which is none of them are funny though. It's just us being like- You remember that time I was talking about demons. And I'll be like, what?
Starting point is 00:48:50 What? And then it'll be like, Blahmow. Katie, you ever have a godmonster of Indian flats? I like the idea of a clip show of not our jokes though. Just thin, like the the the the the tho, tho, tho, tho, I, I, tho, I, I, I, I, I, I' tho, I' tho, I' tho, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll tho, I'll tho, I'm tho, I'm tho, I'll thi, I'm just, I'm just, I'm just, I'm just, I'm, and I'll just, and I'll th. th. th. And I'll th. And I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I was, I was, I was. And I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll. thi, I'll. thi, I'll. thi, I'll. thi, ti, ti. ti. ti. ti. ti. ti. today, ti. ti. ti. today, ti. today, today, I'll today, next week we're talking about Rosemary's baby and then it goes to another clip where we're like yeah I just didn't really like this scene.
