Starting point is 00:00:15 Katie. Alan. Welcome to the inaugural episode of Nice One, Mate. Nice one, mate. I'm so happy to be here. I'm so sad I'm not handing you a pint while saying Nice One Mate, too. It's 11.30 in the morning, which means I could have one. It's 11.30 somewhere.
Starting point is 00:00:31 It's 11.30 somewhere, as they say. Okay, so you know how I fucked up on Kung Fu Hustle by, oh, it turns out I didn't actually watch the end of it. I fell asleep and Rob watched it without me and then told me about it the next day. So that's why I didn't remember it. I'm finding that out right now. So I fucked up on Kung Fu Hustle by not... We both did.
Starting point is 00:00:57 Right, yes, by not watching it, not quite remembering it, not having good enough notes. I fucked up on this one by getting sucked the fuck back into Line of Duty and watching the first four episodes. I took a sick day on Friday and I watched four episodes of Line of Duty. And now I have no idea where this one ends or like what is really? reveal later. Okay, great. I took no notes. I literally just laid in my bed and I watched Line of Duty for four episodes. So, as I've become an old man, British crime mystery cop drama shows have become my comfort watches. Like yesterday I wanted to take a nap so I put on an episode of Foyles War and I was like, it doesn't matter which one, just play Foyle. They're all also a bit the same. Yeah, they're all also a bit the same. The horrors of war.
Starting point is 00:01:47 Christopher is just let down on you. Yeah. I love that. And then you'll cry a little bit at the end because someone has lost something precious to them. And the most woke 60-year-old man in 1940s England to ever exist. What a man. And then you'll look at, what's his sidekick's name, Paul? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:08 Yeah. You'll look at him and be like, are you hot? I can't tell. What's Sam, his driver? Honeycuckle Weeks. Yeah. The same thing with her. She turns one way.
Starting point is 00:02:18 You're like, damn, turn the other way and you're like, damn. But you know who you're not like that about? Oh, the most fuckable man in England. The most fuckable man in England. Former footballer Martin Comston. What position did he play? Let's find out. I'm going to say, he's in the midfield somewhere.
Starting point is 00:02:38 He's too short for striker. It doesn't say. Okay. A promising footballer, he was a youth player with Aberdeen as a teenager. And then after leaving school, signed. for his local professional club, Greenock Morton. But doesn't say a position. Okay.
Starting point is 00:02:53 I don't care, really. He's not going to be able to go for those headers. No. Oh, he was a defender. Here we go. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, but he gets in the way a lot. Sure.
Starting point is 00:03:01 Yeah. And you're like, I don't want to fuck him to order to shoot. Don't want to fuck him to over to shoot. That's right. So, I want to put in this episode and this, with this, it's 2012. He's a baby. He's a baby. I want to put him in my pocket.
Starting point is 00:03:14 He's so cute. He's like, yeah. Tiny. And for those of you who do not watch British crime dot dramas. Which is probably most of you. Yeah. It's coming. Don't worry.
Starting point is 00:03:25 You'll get there. You'll get old too. In everything he's in, he's the most fuckable man on that show. Everybody wants to fuck him. Everybody. It's just what this world presupposes is that he is irresistible. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:40 And he'll be in shows with nothing but hot dudes. Yeah. And everyone's like, actually. I'll take Martin Comston. Get him that Comston. You can do that comps. He plays DS, that's Detective Sergeant, Steve Arnott. Yes.
Starting point is 00:03:53 Or Arnott, depending on who's saying it. And he's part of an anti-terrorism task force. He has way too much responsibility for how wet behind the years he is. He's a child. They were like, well, you're tiny. You'll be the phone guy. You'll be the phone guy. He's the one who has to give the order to relay the order to the team to break into an apartment
Starting point is 00:04:15 where a flat where they believe that a terror cell is working out of. And just so if you, in case you don't know, in England, they don't all carry guns. All the cops don't have guns. So it's a rarity for them to have guns. Correct. You have to have specialized training and be in special divisions in order to have a gun. So this firearm squad is going in to take out this terrorist cell. Why is Steve Arnett have a job?
Starting point is 00:04:41 Like, why doesn't the other person just pass along the order? The person who passes the order to him and then he passes it to the others? Because he's on the ground. He's got some maps. Uh-huh. He's doing paperwork at the time. Doing paperwork. He's got a file paperwork at the time.
Starting point is 00:04:56 He does the paperwork and then puts his fingers on his head like, yes, the paperwork is done. So this is all being cut with a man with gloves on strapping something to his chest. Right. And like it's a montage. of Steve on a phone. Yeah. Cops running up steps. Quick cuts, quick cuts, quick cuts.
Starting point is 00:05:20 And a man pulling straps on something on his chest. Yeah. And so it's a baby that he has stripped to his chest. Yeah, spoilers. It's a little baby and like a baby ergo carrier. And they blow up his door, run in, and open fire on this man with a baby on his chest. Yeah. And kill him.
Starting point is 00:05:36 And kill him. Baby unharmed. Baby unarmed in front of his wife. Yeah. Steve Arnott runs up there and realizes that he had, he had told them to go into flat 56? Six, and they went into 59. Okay, there's so many things wrong with that.
Starting point is 00:05:51 If the number was hanging off the door, it would be well below. Yeah. You would also be counting the doors as you went. You know what I mean? You'd be like, one, two, three, four, five. We wouldn't be like one, two. Oh, this is it. It's right here.
Starting point is 00:06:04 I'm so surprised that it's here. I feel like you're introducing a great thing that line of duty does. Is it points out how fucking inept the police are. It's true. I mean, it's true. It's true. You're right. At every step, if you're not the cops that are looking into other cops, you're doing it wrong. You're a bad cop. You're a bent coper, which does not get said at all in this episode, but will be said many times later. So this kind of like, we do time jumps now. Well, the first thing that happens is right after the shooting, the commander who I describe as the guy who thinks a lot of big thought.
Starting point is 00:06:43 because he has a huge fucking head. Yes, he has a huge fucking head. He's got a lot of big thoughts in there. It's like from his eyebrows up is very bulbous. For contemporary political watchers, he's got a Matt Gaetzean-sized head. He's got a Matt Gaetzean-sized head. I bet he's not a pedophile, though. Yeah, hopefully.
Starting point is 00:07:04 Let's not do that. I saw some comedian that was talking about Matt Gates. He's like, you know, he's not a pedophile. He's actually a this kind of file. But you can't point that out. to someone without sounding like a pedophile. Okay, I'm done with this. So yes, this commander shows up and he's like, okay, this is what happened.
Starting point is 00:07:24 You ran in the door. You said we're armed police. You saw that he was acting erratically and he came at you and that's why you struck him. Everybody write that up in their reports because we're police and we're going to lie about what we just did. Exactly. And DSR net is like, hell no, I won't do that. Fuck you.
Starting point is 00:07:38 I won't do what you tell me. The most honest man who throughout the series is going to do the most fucked of shit on the TV show. The most dishonest shit. This, his trajectory I noticed in watching this critically is insane. Even in this first episode. But it's also amazing how much shit they're laying out in this first episode. It's a lot. Yeah. Yeah. So now we cut, we do the time jump to there in court.
Starting point is 00:08:05 Yeah. They're having some sort of hearing. The inquest. The coroner's inquest. Yes. And they're like, everyone's written up their report. And Steve Arnaut has written up an honest appraisal of what happened. Dr. Big Thoughts is like, no way, dude, you got to lie like the rest of us. You're fired. You're fired. But he's not off the force because he gets recruited to AC12, anti-corruption unit 12, AC1A, 2B, ACAB, A-C-A-B, all cops are bastards, or all cheeses are beautiful.
Starting point is 00:08:34 All candies are beautiful? All cats are beautiful. All cats are bastards, actually. He gets Braun into AC12 by Adrian fucking Dunbar. He loves Adrian Dunbar. Hastings, like the battle.
Starting point is 00:08:48 Like the battle, as he says, not Alan. One to 200 times per season. He, yes, he introduces himself to Steve and says, is it Stephen or Steve? They've not met? He recruited him without having had a conversation with him. He treats him like his son from here on out.
Starting point is 00:09:07 And by episode four, He's calling him his son. I want to be real clear. That's wild. So we've cut to, after we meet Adrian Dunbar, Superintendent Hastings. We cut to a man going to a lunch date with a very beautiful woman. A lovely woman.
Starting point is 00:09:29 Yeah. This is DCI Tony Gates. Yeah, but we don't know he's a cop yet. Oh, right. Sorry. And Jackie Laverty. Jackie Laverty. Who's in his phone as Jack Laverty, which made me laugh every time.
Starting point is 00:09:42 So his wife phoned me none the wise. Yeah, except, okay, wait. So they're having breakfast in a cafe. Yeah. She's pulling his hand into her cooter. Yeah, like you do at breakfast. Just having a conversation. It's breakfast.
Starting point is 00:10:02 Who's this excited? And they have like this, like, awkward, I was hoping you were going to take me out and fuck me in the back of your corolla he's like oh those were the days eh back when we used to fuck in the corolla and then from outside a commotion a commotion it's
Starting point is 00:10:18 two young men with a knife taking a baby stealing a baby in public and brought daylight on a nice street outside a cafe what like if you got a British person to draw a teen criminal they would have drawn these two children yes everyone who's a
Starting point is 00:10:37 bad guy in this movie has their hood up at all times. Yeah, they're in this TV show. They're chav hoodies. Yeah. Yeah. So he runs outside and he smacks the knife out of the kid's hand and arrests him. Protects the baby. And in this world, what happens is the waitress at the restaurant runs down the block, comes up to him and goes, your meal is free. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:01 Thank you, Nadia. We will meet you later. Your meal is free. You meal is free. Yeah, that's free. And then what happens? Then we learn that... Wait, do we meet...
Starting point is 00:11:16 I didn't take any notes. I'm sorry. Oh, sorry. After he gets the free meal, he immediately is accepting the officer of the year or... Yes, he's at the officer of the year ceremony.
Starting point is 00:11:25 Which is a black tie event, mind you? That his wife is not at. That his wife is not at. He thinks she would be at the officer of the year ceremony. They could have gotten a babysitter for this one. Also, you think the officer year ceremony happens at like two in the afternoon? No, it's a night.
Starting point is 00:11:38 Well, it's black tie. What? Black tie, cocktails and whatnot. He gets a phone call from Jack Laverty. Yeah. Oh, we know it's Jackie. Yeah. The woman who puts his hand on her cooter.
Starting point is 00:11:47 She's having issues. She's got a, he's saying, what, what? Okay, I'll be right there. Yeah. He shows up to her house. Uh-huh. She's drunk as a skunk. She's drunk as a skunk and drinking some more. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:57 What's she done? Oh, she's hit a dog with her car. And what has she done with a car? She's reported it's stolen. This is. insane. She is, what's the opposite of a master criminal? A real estate developer. A Jack Laverty. I don't understand this series of events. Yes. Where is the car? She left the car and walked home from there? I guess so. With the keys. Yes.
Starting point is 00:12:26 Because she was going to, you're going to abandon the car. You leave the keys. Yeah. Yeah. Or you throw the keys in the woods. Something. This, so the first time Missy and I sat down to watch this, we got through this episode and we're like, that was really dumb. Yeah. And for some reason, someone was like, oh, we'll just pick it up with season two. And so we like jumped ahead. Whoa. Watch the rest of the series.
Starting point is 00:12:48 Yeah. So then recently we came back and watched the whole of this series and were like, oh, this lays everything out that's going to happen later on. Yeah, I can't believe you did that. Who told you that? They were wrong. I don't remember who. But so this like series of things that she does is just like,
Starting point is 00:13:06 Well, this is just stupid. Yeah. And his response to it is just also stupid because he fakes a break it. Right. Which he knows will work, even though I feel like I, if this were an encyclopedia Brown that I was reading to my child, I'd be like, well, that's staged. But I guess he, she, she needs him to cover it up, basically. Yeah, okay.
Starting point is 00:13:30 Yes. She needs, she needs her story to be stupid. Yeah. She is a master criminal. Or is she? Whomst can say. So he breaks the car window and then he drives, or breaks the house window, the front door. Which I also looked at and I was like, how the fuck are you going to reach the doorknob like that?
Starting point is 00:13:51 Or do they just break it out? They said they hooked the keys off the table. That's where he scratches the table so they'll look like the hooks. Dumb A.F, as the kids would say. So he drives home. Yeah. Who does he drive home to? His wife and beautiful daughters.
Starting point is 00:14:08 Uh-huh. Who is his wife? Someone I know. She is someone you know. Yeah. Sean is going to pick her up and take her to the Winchester and Sean of the Dead. It is Sean of the Dead's own. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:21 Oh, what is her name? Gates, Kate. It is Sean of the Dead's own Kate Ashfield. Kate Ashfield. Jules Gates. J-O-O-L-S. That's not how you spell. It's standard spelling of jewels.
Starting point is 00:14:41 Aye, aye, aye, aye. So, he drives home and he kisses his kids, good night, and goes and lays with his wife. And she's like, you're the best husband anyone could ever have. You're the best in the world. And also, officer of the year. I don't know why I wasn't there. That'll never be explained. Support your spouse.
Starting point is 00:15:03 Who? Who? And then he goes to sleep. The next morning when he gets to work. Yeah. She didn't hit a dog. She didn't hit a man in a suit. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 00:15:13 Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. And who works in the same office that Tony does? This is confusing because it seems to be two different police departments in one room. Like, who is Kate's boss at this point? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:15:30 Is it that guy with the huge eyes? Is he everybody's boss? You know the... Oh, yeah. Yes, he is like the head of that division. But who does Kate report to in this moment? I think it's Tony, but like, not like... Not on the T. She's not on the starting 11.
Starting point is 00:15:47 Like, what is happening here? 20 or whatever their group is called. Okay. And when Katie's saying this, like, there's a main group of male detectives that are sitting in this like super ultra-modern, brightly lit. Very tiny, though, all this space where they're all kind of on top of each other. Yeah. And then there are three women who one of them is...
Starting point is 00:16:08 We're talking about Rita? We're talking about Rita. This television series draws and paints in brushstrokes that are wider than the Atlantic Ocean. And in this world, Rita is chubby. Yeah. And that means Rita is stupid. Well, she's a civilian who works for the cops, which I think makes you see. stupid, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:16:36 But also, every time, after the first time we meet Rita, every other time we meet her, she has a pastry on her desk. Does she really? I didn't notice that. Oh, God. And she's like, fatty's got a fat. That's what we're doing here. Later in the series, she will have to go off of the job because of her nerves.
Starting point is 00:16:55 I'm sorry. So we meet this police officer named Kate Fleming. Kate Fleming should fucking file a lawsuit against. whoever did that to her hair. Do you know why her hair is like that? No. So she was in a movie called This Is England, which was set in the early 80s.
Starting point is 00:17:15 It's a skinhead movie. And she had a Chelsea for that movie. Unlike Imaging Puts, who had that terrible wig. She actually got a Chelsea to do it. And so that's her Chelsea growing out. Gotcha. Yeah. All right, well, I'll allow it.
Starting point is 00:17:31 Yeah, yeah, yeah. Because it looks terrible. She's a beautiful woman, is Vigua. Mickey McClure. She looks like she has a play school hair. Yes, it just plopped right under her head. Like her, the crown of her head is where her bangs start.
Starting point is 00:17:43 And then they come all the way down. It's wild looking. Can't do that. You can't have bangs like that. You got to comb that Chelsea forward. 2012. So, um, we meet her and she's, uh, I haven't know what this is they are dicking around a man. I don't know what that means.
Starting point is 00:18:01 This is, um, Mr. Butterfield. the guy who's been robbed. That's right. That's right. He keeps getting like new detective after new detective. Because he keeps getting robbed off on the estate in which he lives. And kids are harassing him and such. These kids are monsters when we meet them later. The treatment of kids in this show is fucking incredible.
Starting point is 00:18:19 Jed Mercurio hates a child. So Kate is going, gives him her personal phone number. She's like, anytime you have an issue, give me a call. I'll never let you down. I'll always be there for you forever or never. And she and the civilian woman Rita and another detective, Leah, are all working in a different part of the office, which overlooks, they can see the good office. And it's like wood-paneled. Yes, it's dark.
Starting point is 00:18:48 Yes, it's dark and they're using like old computers. Tandy 1000s. Kate wants to join Gates' team. Yeah. Obviously. And so does the other lady. Yeah, well, Leah, she says she's next in line. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:01 But she seems like I'm a bitch. Why? Because at one point she's like, I'm one-tenth Romani. I should be able to get in there. She does say that. I wasn't sure if that was in this episode or not. It was, yeah. So he's got a body now.
Starting point is 00:19:15 He knows that there's a body. Tony does. And Rita is working on this case for some reason. Because it's a hit and run. It's not sexy. Right. Because Tony only takes the sexy cases. Right.
Starting point is 00:19:27 He's being investigated by AC12. Yeah. Anti-Corruption Unit 12. as we learned for laddering, which is basically like getting a suspect in custody and then putting more charges on them. Right. So that you clear more charges
Starting point is 00:19:39 and then not investigating crimes that you don't think have a good chance of being solved. Right, right, right, right. Which is shit. Yeah. Yeah, it's a bad thing to do. And Adrian Dunbar is not going to stand for that. Never.
Starting point is 00:19:50 There's one thing he hates. Ben coppers. Ben coppers. Even though, keep watching the series. Six seasons, baby. So he has this body that he's given to Rita, but he's like, oh my God, Jackie hit a body. So I got to go pick up Jackie and make her confess to the crime at this point. Right.
Starting point is 00:20:15 He tells her that she has to come in and give a statement saying that she made a mistake and she's really sorry. Right. But she has already had a drink driving conviction, so she'll go to prison. She go to prison, yeah. I also like that they call it drink driving. Drink driving. I do too. It just says like a cherry pop and daddy's song
Starting point is 00:20:32 Drink driving Throw back a bottle man Drink drink drink driving Run your car Throw your accountant Spoiler alert Okay it's the end of this episode So of course she goes in and gives her
Starting point is 00:20:51 She talks to Rita And does the same story again It's a same story again. Stupid Jackie. Her response is, well, she already knew the story. She believed it so much, I couldn't convince her otherwise. Shut up, Jackie.
Starting point is 00:21:07 But also, the things Gates will do for pussy, you know? Like, that's really the crux of this season is the things he will do for that. Just for not his wife's pussy. No, who seems nice? They seemed to have a loving relationship. Yeah, but she's had two kids and I just need to. Jackie, you know what I mean? Yeah, you know.
Starting point is 00:21:29 That's mean. I mean, he's a shitty dude. He's a shitty dude. He's the shitty dude. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. He has these two sidekicks, or three sidekicks. Yeah. This is Cotton, Nigel, and Deepak.
Starting point is 00:21:46 Yeah. Cotton is such an interesting looking man. Is Cotton Dot? Yes, Dot. Yes. He's like 12 foot 100. He's 12 foot 100. They're all like really interesting.
Starting point is 00:22:00 Like because the one guy walks with a limp. Yes, he has a cane. Yeah, so we'll find out later why. And Deepak is the person of color who is their lackey, basically. Right. We learn that, yeah, they're all like tokens, basically. Yeah. But I also like later on in the series, we find out something about Dot.
Starting point is 00:22:24 and they fucking set it up in this first episode. You're right. Yeah. I want to tell you something about Dot in this. He is five years younger than me, the actor. He is not. He is 36 in the series. Wow.
Starting point is 00:22:45 Hard living over there. Hard living. Breathing that leads air wherever the fuck you are. A chokey over there. That is shocking. Isn't it? Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:58 If you had told him me that he was like dead smack between the two of us, I would believe that. I would also believe that he was 50. I believe he was your age. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. You know, he's 48 right now. Wow. And this show was 12 years ago. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:10 So he's 36. Wow. Yeah. Wow. Yeah. Um, so is this where we get the, oh no, no. We get this scene where we, there's a series of scenes in the show in this episode where Steve is perpetual. confused by everything that's going on around him.
Starting point is 00:23:31 Steve doesn't think that, Steve thinks Gates is a good guy. Yeah, but he's just got these like mouth breather, open mouth, like staring off into the distance, not comprehending what's happening to him, yeah, he like doesn't seem to want to be doing this even though he agreed to join the anti-corruption unit as a person with integrity.
Starting point is 00:23:49 Ha-ha. Because he seems to want to do sexier crimes too. Sure. He wants to get out there and get the real criminals. Yeah. So there's a Steve and Kate meet cute at a door that she can't get open. Right. And he's coming to open the door for her.
Starting point is 00:24:05 I don't like the tension between Steve and Kate. You don't like that sexual tension? No, they're both too short. I only like tall sexual tension. Exactly. I want to be able to put myself in that sexual tension. That's true. Can't relate to shorts.
Starting point is 00:24:25 Can't reach himself on the top shelf. Can't help you. So they're going to Steve and Hastings are going to interview Tony and serve him with a yellow notice about the free meal that he got because he did not disclose it. Right. And Steve is like, that's stupid. We should be doing better things than this. And Hastings is like, son, you're stupid and I wish I'd interviewed you before you got here. We're going to catch him off guard.
Starting point is 00:24:53 And Steve's like, yeah. I don't know what that means. Of course he doesn't. And is this where we find out that Haysing's is incredibly racist? What does he say? Oh, I'm the blackest man you know or something like that. Because he's black Irish. No one's blacker than me.
Starting point is 00:25:09 Yeah. Yeah. Because he's black Irish. And the black Irish got shit on by the other Irish. But he's not a black man in England. White as fuck. I mean, to look at him. No one's blacker than me.
Starting point is 00:25:22 No one's blacker than me. Tony Gates is because he's actually black. I don't see color. Yeah, that took me off guard. He's also wildly misogynist as well. Yeah, he's doing a lot of honey, sweeties. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:37 Great. And that will come back. He's our hero. Yes. Oh, man. So, yeah. Oh, yeah. Hastings and Steve go to a bar to drink
Starting point is 00:25:52 where a bunch of other cops are. Yeah. They're the cop cops. Nobody wants you there. The one cop of the bar looks at him and goes, ugh, it walks away. Because everyone's upset that they're coming after Tony Gates, officer of the year. Officer of the year. Officer of the year.
Starting point is 00:26:06 Great man, great man. Great man. Family man. Family man. Tony goes and goes to the civilian, Rita, and he was like, hey. Hey, Rita. Rubs her back a little bit, and she's like, oh, I'm stupid. And he's good.
Starting point is 00:26:23 looking, I guess. Yeah, yeah. He's a little squirrely for me. There's also that, see, where Kate's, like... Flirting so hard with him, but she also knows that... Because she's smart. She knows that women's attention gets him to do things. Yeah, yeah, because, I mean, he's a cooter man.
Starting point is 00:26:39 Yeah, he loves a cooter. Oh, my God. You know, British flying cooter. Oh, yeah. A fanny. So he convinces Rita to... Any information she gets on this hit and run body sent it directly to him. It might have a connection to one of his cases, yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:00 Yeah, she's like, of course. Of course, I love you. Is this where they have the stakeout? Uh, bu-da-ba-ba-ba. No one is blacker than me. Well, this is where we, um, uh, we find out who Kate really is. Right. She's undercover.
Starting point is 00:27:22 She's undercover because Hastings takes Steve to meet her. on a rooftop. Hasing's is her dad too. Right? Yes, of course. And Steve's like, I didn't think we had undercover cops. And she's like, yeah, that's why it's called undercover. Why are you so stupid? How did you get this job? How did you get, how do you have the same job as me? Actually, I think he's a rank higher than her. Of course he is. I think she's a DS by the end of the series. Yeah. She's a DC right now, I think. Yeah. Yeah. And doesn't, um, Oh yeah, at some point Steve has gone to Tony to tell him that he doesn't approve of the investigation they're doing on him and he's sorry about it. Right.
Starting point is 00:28:04 And Tony takes offense to this. Yeah. And how does Tony get vengeance on Steve Arnaud? Takes a shit on his front seat. Later, yeah, later Hastings is like, I have it on good authority that it was Gates who did that. Who told you Hastings? Nobody told you jack shit. That's mind games.
Starting point is 00:28:23 He's 100% lying to Steve. He's lying. To go hard and a heart on Tony. Which he does because now Tony, excuse me, now Steve has like a blood hatred of Tony. And he will almost ruin his life over this man. But someone chits on my front seat. We're going to have worse. That's a blood enemy.
Starting point is 00:28:44 You're right. You're right. You're right. Also, this shit is hilarious. It's very funny. It's like, what are you eating, Gates? I'm not going to nodios place for breakfast. That much is true.
Starting point is 00:28:55 Sir, you actually got too much fiber. Yeah. So yes, now is the surveillance on the stash house. Yes, this is Dot and Deepak. Yes. Yeah. And they are, there's a replacement coming in 10 minutes. And Dot's like, well, we can just go then.
Starting point is 00:29:14 We don't have to wait. Let's go have a pint at the bar. Yeah. Dun, dun, done, done. Was it Gates that gives them the order to, like, who is telling them to leave? It's just Dodd, right? Yeah, it's just Dot.
Starting point is 00:29:28 Because Deepak gets the call that the replacement's going on and he's like, we're going to wait. And Dot's like, well, there's no need to wait. So they leave. Yeah, so they leave. And then what happens? And then some guys went in there and topped off a bunch of fingers. Bunch of fingers, 20 of them to be exact. So many fingers on the floor, I loved it.
Starting point is 00:29:44 Two drug dealers are found murdered. Yeah. With their fingers cut off. And by the blood spray, we know that they were alive when their fingers were cut off. So they were looking for information. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:58 And while this is going on, Tony goes to Jackie's for some reason to tell her something and it ends at a blowtop. Yeah. Well, he's trying to break up with her, I think. But she's got her ways. Yeah. Looks like his tick. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:15 And it works because he sucks. Every time she's just like, but what about fucking? He's like, yeah, okay, I'll give up everything. makes sense. That makes sense. Men. I like your argument here. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:29 Can't deny that. Oh, my God. Earlier when Kate went to the bug-eyed guy and was like, hey, what do you want me to do with these cases? And he's like, these cases suck. Fuck these cases. I hate you and age these cases. Shove these cases up your ass.
Starting point is 00:30:41 And she's like, fine. You want me to back burner? It's like, no, I'm not saying that. I'm saying use your judgment. Yeah, don't be dumb. You're such a woman about this. Stupid woman. His eyes are enormous.
Starting point is 00:30:50 He looks like an anime character. He does. And so. that comes back to bite Kate and the ass because Mr. Butterfield has been beat up. Yes. The break-in happened while he was home. Yeah. And he wants to make a complaint, which
Starting point is 00:31:04 will matter later, I think. And so now Kate's in trouble. Kate's in trouble. And what do we find out about the body? The body wasn't just a random guy. He's an accountant for Laverty Holdings. And Gates deletes the missing person's report.
Starting point is 00:31:22 There is the the tensest mouse click that's ever existed on television history. Hover, hover, hover, hover, no, hover, hover, hover. It cuts away, it cuts back, he's still hovering. The other hand is rubbing his face like, should I? Get my next look, getting my next look, should I? And while he's doing that at the same exact time,
Starting point is 00:31:43 the man who's got a fucking hard on for Tony Gates is looking at Tony Gates's file, looking at stuff about Jackie Laverty. And he's like, hmm, what's this? There's a connection with Jackie Laverty in this body. let me click on that and as he clicks on it at the same moment, Gates clicks away the information. Deletes it from the file. But he saw it.
Starting point is 00:32:03 And Steve saw it, but now it's gone. Now it's gone. What happened? Don, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't. The end of the episode. Nice one, mate. Line of duty. Oh my God, we did it.
Starting point is 00:32:16 All right, that's it. I'm going. It's cold up here. That's the first episode of Nice One, Mate. that's the first episode of Line of Duty. It's on Britbox for four seasons. Then there's a season on Hulu. Oh.
Starting point is 00:32:31 And then it jumps back to Brit Box. What the fuck, guys. Stick with it, y'all. It's fantastic. It is good. We're going to get there. The bad guys in it gets so much better. Yes.
Starting point is 00:32:41 Oh, my God. And Gates, yeah. Yeah, I can we want to talk about more. In a later season, my most beautiful woman on Earth shows up in this show. Is that Keeley Hawes? Nope. No. Kelly McDonald.
Starting point is 00:32:52 Oh, you love Kelly McDonald. I forgot. Yeah. I do. Yeah. All right. So that's the first episode of nice one, mate. We hope you enjoyed that. This is a special one just for the patrons. And when we get to the next one, it'll be for everyone. Yeah. Yeah. And then they'll have to become patrons to hear this one, dun, d'n, da. Oh, really? I don't know. I don't know if to figure that. This was not, this was ill-conceived. Hey, Alan. Yeah. Nice one, mate. Katie. Yeah.
