Werewolf Ambulance: A Horror Movie Comedy Podcast - Re-release: IT (1990)

Episode Date: February 5, 2024

Hello EMTs! This week, we were planning to discuss "The Peanut Butter Solution," but our pal Allen got COVID and I truly believe that it's not right to ask a man to watch weird Canadian children's cin...ema when he's ill, so we'll be back with that one next week. In the meantime, please enjoy this blast from the past with the re-release of our episode from 2016, "IT" (the 1990 miniseries). And I promise, the next time Allen gets sick, I'm doing the Brian-from-Wings-Shining all on my own. Have a great week, and we'll catch you next time.

Starting point is 00:00:25 Hey Alan. Hey Katie. Say it's all right. It's all right. Say it's all right. It's all right. It's all right. It's all right. It's all right. It's all right. It's all right. It's all right. Have a good time. Because it's all right. It's all right. Have a good time. Because it's all right. It's all right. It's all right. It's a good try. It's a Curtis Mayfield song that is in this movie three times. They have one fucking song and it's three times. Hello Katie. What is this? Would you like a balloon? Sure. I'm a clown from New York. Wait. Do they float? They do float. They do float. Damn balloons do float, Gail. Wait, why are you from New York? I don't know, why's Tim Curry from New York, but he's talking to Georgie. Oh yeah. Hi guys, this is a were wolf ambulance. I'm Alan. I'm Katie. I'm Pennywise. You are no Tim Curry, sir. Don't I know it? None of us are. Every goddame day in my life, I know that. You look in that mirror and you're like, not Tim Curry.
Starting point is 00:01:11 He's a God among men. Oh, no doubt. No doubt. And he is the saving grace of this movie. What movie we're talking about? What movie we're talking about? Legend starring to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the to to to to to the to to to to the to to to to to the to to to the too.. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th day day day day day day day tha. tha. tha. tham-a. toda. today. today. today. today. today. today. today. today. today. today. today. tha. tha. tha. I still haven't seen that. But I still haven't seen that, I mean never gonna see that. We're talking about Stephen King's It, the 1992-night event
Starting point is 00:01:29 mini series, directed by my friend and yours Tommy Lee Wallace. Yeah, Halloween 3 fame. That's my dog. To prep myself for this, I actually went back and listened to our Halloween. the mirror, you know? Sometimes you can see what it looks like. Yeah, sometimes I want to look at my own face. No, and it was mainly to remind myself
Starting point is 00:01:55 of all the things that I found wrong with Halloween 3, which are all the same things that are wrong with this movie, which is just that like, there are so many details. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, thi, to, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, th. to, to, to, to, to, to, thi. to, to, thi just that like there are so many details that make no fucking sense. No fucking, like may I, may I begin? Yeah, what, right before we get started I would like to send a well-wish out to our friend Mike Bollum. Hi Mike. Mike. Mike had some surgery and we just wish him his speedy recovery. Sounds like he's gonna be alright, we're hoping for a pain-free, quick recovery. No pain. Get or done. Get or done. All right, let's get into this thing. Okay, so here's what makes me super mad about this movie, amongst a lot of things, but this is,
Starting point is 00:02:31 this is the Tommy Lee Wallace touch. Three and a half days long. That is the number one. before this week I would have told you like I don't know two and a half hours no it's three hours in 16 minutes and I watched it over four days some days some days in multiple parts okay but here's the thing that really makes me mad go these fucking kids they're in school right none of them seem to know each other they're introducing themselves to each other you sit behind this person in class then there's a scene where Eddie is like this is the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the. the. the. the. the. th. th. th. th. I'm th. I's th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm. I'm. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I's is th. I's is th. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. I'm. I'm the. I'm th. I themselves to each other. You sit behind this person in class. Then there's a scene where Eddie is like, this is the best summer of my whole life. I hope it never ends.
Starting point is 00:03:08 And literally the next scene is him in gym class. It's like, you weren't even trying. Do you know what I mean? Like, there's a part them are in your class. All of them are in your class. I saw them in your class. That the kid Mike is like, so who are you guys? They're the kids you literally gave a presentation to an hour ago,
Starting point is 00:03:34 in the classroom. It's just mind blowing to me. That's all. Except for the new Chubby, the Wonder Years. Young John Ritter. Yeah, God rest his soul. A lot of deads in this movie. Well, just too, I guess John Ritter and Jonathan Brandis. Yeah. I didn't know about Jonathan Brandis that was sad. Yeah, it's a sad ending. They're both a sad ending to their lives. Yeah, for sure. Death is generally a sad ending to one's life. Huh? Yeah, for sure. Death is this going to be a to be a to be a to be a to be a to be a to be a to be a to be a to be a to be a to be a to be a to be a to be a to be a sad to be a sad to be a sad to be a sad to be a sad to be a sad to be a sad to be a sad the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. their dead dead dead their dead their dead their dead their dead their dead their dead their dead their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their the. the. the. the. the. the. to to the. theeeat. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. Okay, so like, this is this going to be a super long episode to do this entire gotten? I mean, I'm hoping that we're not going to talk about every plot point in this.
Starting point is 00:04:13 There, I have a lot of notes. So do I. I have so many notes that I was rereading today and I'm like, I have no fucking that is. I have no fucking that is. I. I. I. I. I. I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I, I th, I have th, I have th th thi, I have thi, I have thi, I have that, I have that, I have like, I have like, I have like, I have like, I have like, I have like, I have like, I have like, I have like, I have like, I have like, I have like, I have like, I have like, I have like, I have like, I have like, I have like, I have like, I have like, I have like, I have like, I have like, I have like, I have that. I have that. I have that I have that I have that I have that I have that I have that I have that I have that, I have that, I have that, I have that, I have that, I have that, I have that, I have that, I have no, I have no, I have no, I have no, I have no, I have no, I have no, I have no, I have no, I have no, I have no fucking, I have no, I have no fucking, I have no fucking that, I have that, either? No. No. Henry's friend is like literally my age. He has the same wrinkle as me. So there's a group of kids who are the losers. Yeah. Just so you're right in and identifying with them immediately as a nerd. Some of them it's because they're poor or fat or black. Some of them it's because they're Jewish or wear glasses, seemingly.
Starting point is 00:04:44 They're hitting every possible, every possible point you could get on this. Everything you could be bullied for. Yeah, yeah. The fat kid, it's not about fat. No, no, no, no. But I was around that fat when I was that age, and like, definitely got called fat all the time.
Starting point is 00:04:58 Really? Oh, yeah. Being a kid named Alan when Fat Albert was a big thing. Oh, but do you. Oh, yeah, yeah. Yeah. Yeah, it's cool. I've gone to therapy. Yeah, there's like, this movie is just a bub out after bum out. Yeah. It's just a several children murder. Well, oh, but the the th. Oh, but th. Oh, but, but, but, but. Oh, I. Oh, I. Oh, I. Oh, I. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, but. Oh, but. Oh, but. Oh, but. Oh, but. Oh, but. Oh, but. Oh, but. th. th. th. Oh, but. Oh, but. Oh, but. Oh, but. Oh, but. Oh, but. Oh, but. Oh, but. Oh, but. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. mean it's true the child murder what I'm just
Starting point is 00:05:25 several children were well I'm sorry a flood of children yeah a literal flood yes when did you see this first I think I would have been in like late junior high high school okay so like not when it was on TV no it would have been like five years six years later yeah yeah yeah and you loved it and you loved it I to be to be fared? I to be f the the the first part. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the. the. the. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. t. t. the. the. ttttttttttttttttttt. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the.? I loved it. And to be fair, I still think the first part is pretty good. Part one is pretty good. There are a lot of things like I said that make me really mad, like the things I described earlier, or the fact that Georgie is not the same ethnicity as Jonathan Brandis. They couldn't even get a kid who looked remotely like him. That mom was definitely fucking around. You know what I mean? Because he is not Bill's brother. I will say that the Jonathan Brandis to John Boy from the Walton's transition was pretty smooth.
Starting point is 00:06:11 Like, was it the mole? Because they drew the mole on the ma'am to his face. I laughed out loud when I saw the mole. Fucking John Boyne's those bangs. That ponytail, that's Lee Pressle on ponytail that he on the back of his head. And I couldn't figure out why or why it had that like, like George Washington bow tie on the back. Yeah, it wasn't, he's a rubber band like everybody else. A scrunchy something. Yeah, he tied it with like a leather strap strap.
Starting point is 00:06:38 Also he's supposed to be Stephen King.. Holy shit, Stephen King came, th, th, or, or, or, or, or, or, or, or, or, or, or, or, or, or, or, or, th, or, or, or, or, th, th, th, th, or th, or th, or th. th. th. th. th. thi, th. thi, thi, thi, thi, th. th. th. th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, that, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, the th. th. th. th. th. thi, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, Yes, Stephen King. Oh, he's the real Stephen King! Holy shit! Stephen King came up with Stephen Kang before we did. I feel like I feel like a hack. Yeah. So John Boy is married to Black Christmas. Oh. Yeah. And we... Not Marco Kidder. No, not Margo Kidder. The other one. Yeah. There's Tim Reed, aka a Venus fly trap from W. Kna. Oh, the thin. Oh, the thin. th. the the the th. the the the th. the the the the the the the th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. the the th. the th. th. th. th. th. the the the the th. the th. th. the the th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. No, not Margo Kitter, the other one. Yeah. There's Tim Reed, aka Venus FlyTrap from WKRP and Cincinnati. Okay, yep, who is the token black friend. Yes. John Ritter as a aforementioned tubby guy. But now he's like a ladies man. In that fucking denim shirt and leather vest? He looks great. He really does. 1990 all over that shit. My friend Amanda from the Pitt episode, just this week I heard her refer to a man who was good at physical comedy
Starting point is 00:07:30 as having a real John Ritter like quality. It's like, it's a great description. He's fantastic at physical comedy. Yeah, funny guy. RIP. And then there's a judge from the judge, the judge, Green, which I thought was a really nice, even though Seth Green is like five foot four. But how cute is he, you can tell that he was like the only one who was going to make something of himself as a child.
Starting point is 00:07:54 He's the only one with any like star power. Yeah, he's great I thought. There's a majeure. Richard Mazur, yeah. The dad from Enzino Man? Not from the Thing. Yeah, no, he's the guy with the dogs from the Thing. He's the dad from the Zeno Man. He's the dad in like every movie of that era.
Starting point is 00:08:14 He's got a good dad look. Yeah, dad voice too. Yeah. Concerned and kind of squeaky. Yeah, and just like beleaguered. I didn't know who the guy who played Eddie was. He apparently has been in things, but I don't know him. The guy who played, Eddie is the inhaler guy? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:30 The only thing I knew him from was breaking away that bicycling movie from like the late 70s, where he wants to be Italian. It's good. It's a fun movie. It's a fun movie. It's a fun movie. It takes tak. It takes tak. It's a t, it takes that that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a fun. It's a fun movie. It's a fun movie. It's a fun movie. It's a fun movie. It's a fun movie. It's a fun movie. It's a fun movie. It's a fun movie. It's a fun movie. It's a fun movie. It's a fun. It's a fun. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's a fun. It's a fun. It's a fun. It's a fun. It's a fun. It's a fun. It's a fun. It's a fun. It's a fun. It's a fun. It's a fun. It's a fun. It's a fun. It's a fun movie. It's a fun movie. It's a fun movie. It's a fun movie. It's a fun movie. It's a fun movie. It's a fun movie. It's a fun movie. It's a fun movie. It's a fun movie. It's a fun movie. It's a fun movie. It's a fun movie. It's a fun movie. It's a fun movie. It's a fun movie. It's a fun movie. It's a fun movie. It's a fun movie. It's a fun movie. Who's the, the lady is? A net-o-tool. Yeah. God, she's useless in this movie. I'm gonna throw this out there. Go. Kang? Not so good at her right in the ladies.
Starting point is 00:08:51 But child bef, well, child bev in the movie, I thought it was... Fucking Ginger Snaps. What? the girl is the girl. younger sister. No shit. No shit. Wow! So that's somebody else who had some star power who made it a little bit further. Not as far as Seth Green obviously. No, no. Oh, Child Bev is like kind of a, she's a pretty good character I think. Oh yeah. In the book she has sex with all of them to make them to help them across the threshold to adult. I wasn't sure when we were going to get in. I was definitely. to. to. to. to. the. to. the. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. th. th. the. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. their. their. their. their. their. their. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. the th. th. th. the. the. the. theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. theee. this is because they're remaking the series, I guess, into a series. I know it's a movie. Oh, it's a movie.
Starting point is 00:09:28 It's a movie, I thought it was a series. It's a theatrical movie. But it's two parts, again, I think. Oh really? Yeah, it's the I loved it. It did borrow heavily from it, by the way. Yeah. I think, I wonder if they're going to get into that in that movie because it's supposed to be so much grittier and... Did you read it? Yes, I did. Yeah, so you remember the... I'm going to also go out there. Not only do I think that Stephen King is good at writing the, I think he is terrible at writing sex scenes. I don't know if he's ever had a sex.
Starting point is 00:10:05 Oh, he's got that kid. Little Stephen Kang. Is his name's Stephen King Jr. His name's Joe Hill. I wish it was Stephen King Jr. I don't think Stephen King is good at writing sex scenes at all. I don't think that's good at writing sexes at all. Like, like, I remember they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I remember, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, I th. I th. Is th. Is th. Is th. Is th. Is. Is, is, is, is, is, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, I th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. thi. and I don't know if that's in well I haven't read a lot of Stephen King to be honest with you okay to know if that's the same for adults but I know if
Starting point is 00:10:31 it was because it was the way they were children and it wasn't supposed to be sexy or I mean like 12 year old's having sex is not sexy no it's it's it's it's upsetting. It's it's upsetting. It's upsetting. It's upsetting. It's upsetting. It's upsetting. It's upsetting. It's upsetting. It's th. It's upsetting. It's upsetting. It's upsetting. When th. When th. When the th. It's upsetting. When th. When th. When th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the thi. It's th. th. th. th. th. th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. It's the th. It's the th. It's thi. It's thi. It's thi. It's the thi. the thi. thi. the thi. the thi. the thi. thi. It's thi. It's th. It's the book and in the movie. She is having sex with her partner, but in the book it's the sex is shown, not just. Oh, okay, okay. There's like that end sex scene in the movie where they're both like, oh wow. Yeah, because that's a thing people have ever said. I also love it because she's fully closed. She gets out of bed and there she doesn't have to put anything on what she walks out in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, the the the the the the the the, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, the, the, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th, the the the, the the the, the the the the, the thease, the the, the, the the the walk out of the bed. It was just a real intense dry hump session. That boy, that man friend her, huh, a real piece of shit?
Starting point is 00:11:11 Yeah, I mean I understand that Bev has had years of abuse and probably has some mental problems as a result. But like, come on. It's just, her adult character is so fucking useless. So is adult Eddie. They're both fucking useless. Yeah, they're just there so that you feel that there's someone who needs to be protected. And and in the adult scenes, adult scenes, no, the scenes in the second part where they're adults.
Starting point is 00:11:37 She is constantly touching someone. Someone is just like, they're just like touching her face. Like, don't ever touch someone's face. So you get pimples as other people touching your face. Do you know what I mean? I do, it was really weird that they were constantly touching her. You even seen these people in like 30 years. Yeah, but she fucked them through the threshold? Yeah, I wondered if that was like the nod to like that thing having happened. So weird. It is so weird.
Starting point is 00:12:05 It is so weird. I do like the cuts between the flashbacks and the present day. I think that that was really well handled in the first part. Yeah. And can we talk about the bad guys? The gang of 50s, thugs and hoodlums? Yes. You've got the main bad guy with the devil lock Henry Bowers And then two sidekicks only one of them seems to be named. Yes The other one is named Victor according to the credits and the book the book but also yes
Starting point is 00:12:31 And this guy's name is Belch. Yeah, he's pretty good. So I could I the first three lines of dialogue from Belch are just Belches. Oh, okay, and I wanted him to keep it up. Yeah, the th. th. th. th. the th. th. the th. th. th. the th. th. the th. the th. the th. th. the the th. the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the th. th. th. th. th. th. the the the the the the the the the the other the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. theeeeeea. thea. thea. thea. thea. thea. thea. theea. theeea. the. th Yeah. But he's a three burp chump as I put in my notes because after the third burp, he's done. Yeah, he doesn't talk again until he's dead, does he? Well, he's not, he's also no non-belching anymore. There's no more belches. Oh, okay. Okay, she's a non-stop, like a cavalier-like. It's not three times belging and then quiet. No. The other guy is the one that I thought was probably my age. He has that wrinkle that I have right here from furring your brow too much, which I feel like you can't get into the year at least 30.
Starting point is 00:13:12 Okay. I don't know. I like the idea of you just aging people. Yeah. their wrinkles. Yeah, it's like carbon dating for people. Geek waiting pool. Was that? That's what they said when they were both, they were like, geek waiting pool. There's so many stupid lines that would be like,
Starting point is 00:13:34 when we see John Ritter as, the first time we meet him as an adult and he's with this Hispanic woman and she goes he drops his this award he just got and she yells in a Spanish accent your architect award I was wondering if they were all gonna have grown up to get foreign sounding partners because John Boy also has a lady he's a British lady yeah was she British that was like nondescript European as far as she she British I don't know I don't know I don't remember she was British in black Christmas I don't think so I don't I know that her daughter. I can't remember she was British and Black Christmas. Yeah, I don't think so. I don't, I didn't recognize her from that until you just mentioned it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:11 She is so useless also. And that final scene I honestly didn't even want, I turned it off. Because I was like, I know what happens I don't need thing in the three hour chunk. Did you really? Because I rented it. Oh buddy. And I like, and I kind of feel like I ruined Sunday for everyone in the house. You probably did. And when Missy found out that I didn't have work today, she's like, you could have watched it today.
Starting point is 00:14:37 You could have. I was just like, I finished it Wednesday evening. Oh, so you made it a fortnight event? I was watching it in pieces at work. Like, I'm sitting at my desk just being like, are you fucking serious? Yeah. It's a fucking eternal. It is eternal. It is still playing in my head right now.
Starting point is 00:14:56 Yeah. Yeah. So these kids are troubled by a clown. Very frightening, I would say. Especially when I was in 1990. Yeah. I feel like this launched a generation of clown phobia. Yeah, if John Wayne Gacy didn't. Sure. Sure. That's a good point. I just think Tim Curry handles it so masterfully. He's so good. I just think he's, you're laughing at me like I'm a dick. No, no, he, he like, he nails the being a clown aspect of it, like when he's telling jokes, yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:30 And doing the ha, ah, ha, ha, ha. When at the end, when he goes, kiss me fat boy? I laughed for like three solid minutes. You could tell he's having a good time time, thi. thi. thi. hea. hea. hea. hea. thi. I, thi. I, thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi.'s having a good time doing this. Yeah. Although apparently everybody avoided him on set because he was so scary. Oh really? Yeah, which I bet he liked. These dumb fucking kids, you know? Even just the way he like emotes through the clown makeup, I think is really impressive. Yeah, and he does like, he runs a full gamut of emotions.
Starting point is 00:16:00 Like, he's not just evil all the time like jovial or he's quizzical sometimes and like there's a whole like I yeah I really like him like I think if they when they're remaking this movie like there's a lot of stuff they can do way better than this sure there's a lot of things like shrinking it down would be a good idea nope doing it in two parts gotta be this so no so let's let's look at the checklist the check the ch ch ch ch ch ch. the ch. the ch. the ch. the the th. th. th. the th. the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. the thi. thi. thi. thi. the thi. thi. thi. thi. the thi. they. thi. thi. thi. thi. the thi. thi. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. I I I the thi. I thi. I thi. I thi. I's thi. I's thi. I's thi. thi. thi. thi. the. the. the. the. the. I's the. the. the. the. the. I's thi. I'm thi. I'm Nope, doing it in two parts. It's got to be the it's got to be too. So no, so let's let's look at the checklist. I don't know, maybe rehearsing before you started doing the movie because I don't feel like that happened. No, no, I'm gonna say no. But I think the problem they're gonna have is Pennywise is finding an actor of that caliber. Yeah, they got some some the the or something. Yeah, some like young pretty boy. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:46 Yeah. Did you see the stills of the, you're rolling your eyes? Yeah, of the new Pennywise? Yeah, you don't like it. No, it looks, it looks too evil just on its face. Sure. Whereas, like, Pennywise, just kind of like, if he was just a clown. thoul. Yeah, th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. th. thi. Yeah. thi. thi. thi. the th. Yeah. the th. thi. Yeah. th. th. the th. th. th. the th. th. th. th. th. the the the the thi. thi. the still. the still. the still. the still. the still. the still. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, that's a clown. Yeah, he doesn't get evil till he wants to be evil. Yeah, yeah, yeah, so like, just, like, you know, that's kind of, he looks more fright house
Starting point is 00:17:11 than he does, like, circus. Sure. But yeah, that's 2016 for you, you know what I mean? Yeah, I've got to dirty it up. Ked thi th th th th th th th th th th th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. that that that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's k. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I that's th. I that's th. I th. I that's th. that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's th. Yeah. I they're troubled by this clown. John Boy's brother gets killed, Georgie. Because he's playing with a boat, a paper boat going down into the gutter. Here's a question about Maine. Yeah. Is it always sunny when it rains when it rains? Sure. Cool. Great. When I was a kid, and I don't know why, but we used to, when it was raining and sunny out, the devil's beating his wife. What the fuck does that mean? Don't know. Weird. I don't know, it was just the thing that we said. And I was like, as I got older,
Starting point is 00:17:51 I was like, oh yeah, devil's beating his wife and everyone was like, wow, the the thiii's th's th's th's th's th's th's th's th's that's that's that, that, that, is that, is that, is the devil's the that, is the the the the the the the the the the the the the thi's that, the devil's the devil's the devil's that, the devil's, that, the the that, the that, the the the the the the the the the the the the the th................. the the sewer and Pennywise rips his arm off. Which we don't see. No, and I remember that being really scary in the book. I remember reading that and being like, yeah. And it's fun. It's fun when he first shows, a Georgie. Yeah. He's really hitting it hard.
Starting point is 00:18:17 And I didn't know if that was like, so it's like 1950, or 1960, or 1967 right 1960. Okay, and 1960. Okay, that makes sense So it's 1960 and I was like oh, so maybe this kid's going to see like matinees of Gangster films or like something so he's kind of like hey Georgie like kind of hit hard like like and then yeah, I guess so because he doesn't really do that through the rest No, he loses the New York accent later so I don't know if it was like it was supposed to be like this. hey hey hey hey hey????? th. th. to to th. to th. th. to th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Hey. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. that that that that that that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that. that. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. that. that. that. that. that. that's that's th. th. that's th. th. that's th. that's that's that's that's that's that makes. that. that. that. that. that. that. because he doesn't really do that through the rest of the movie. No, he loses the New York accident. So I don't know if it was like, it was supposed to be like, this is specific to an interest that this kid has, you know what I mean? I hope a six-year-old isn't going to gangster matinees. There were no rules back then. There's another girl, is that Velma? It's Laurie Ann, which I know because I was going,
Starting point is 00:19:05 Lorraine? She sounds like she's from Pittsburgh, which I liked a lot. Yeah, this could have been Pittsburgh. I know, super trashy. Is that what you mean? Now it just had a rust belt vibe to it. Yeah, yeah, very, yeah. Yeah, very, very trashy.
Starting point is 00:19:21 It's dairy main, right? Do we mention that it's dairy is the name in the town? Which is only good because later, Harry Anderson makes that dairy air joke, which I thought was funny. It's all set up. Yeah. He is a terrible stand-up comedian, by the way. Apparently he ad libbed most of his lines. Mm-hmm. I think he was. Well, he. I. I.. Really? Yeah, before he was a night court.
Starting point is 00:19:46 Great. What a guy. Who doesn't love a magician? Everyone, literally everyone hates magicians. It's true. I mean, everyone hates magicians. So, George, he's dead. And now they're like, I can't remember how they get onto the, the,
Starting point is 00:20:05 oh, the Pennywise starts like haunting everyone. Yeah, he kind of shows up and acts as your worst fears for some people, but then for other people, it's just like. I'm just fucking with you. Like Bev and the blood coming out of the sink. Which is still a great scene. Except when the voice says, we are all the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the voice says, we are all the dead kids. What?
Starting point is 00:20:26 What? You can't see it, but my arms are in the air. I am aghast. You didn't see this coming, did you? We're all the dead kids. And I really like the thing of the parents not being able to see the blood. See, that's what I think I I I I I th th th th th th th th th th th th th think I think I the thi the thi the thi thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the. the. the. the. the. the. tean. tean. tean. tean. to. tean. tean. tea. tea. tea. tea. tea. te. te. t one of the main themes of the book was the sort of disconnect between childhood and adulthood that I feel like wasn't really well explained in the movie. The movie made it seem more like it was something wrong with the town, which I think it was true.
Starting point is 00:20:53 But I think it kind of lost that child to adult. Yeah, it didn't feel like a coming of age story. No, it didn't. It didn't. He was in his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his coming. the coming. the coming. the coming. the coming. the coming. the coming. the coming. the coming. the coming. the coming coming coming coming coming coming coming coming coming coming coming coming coming coming coming coming coming coming, the coming. He's coming coming coming coming coming coming coming, his coming, his coming, his coming, his coming, to his coming, their, their, their, their, their, their, their. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He was in his coming of age, like, stand by me, like, throws at this point. Yeah. But so, like, Richie sees a werewolf in the basement after smoking man from the X-Files, who's the principal, tells them to go down and get a mop, which I really liked. Because they had gone to the theater and seen Michael Landon in, I was a teenage were a thiol a terrible way to see a movie. Everybody's screaming and throwing, is that how movies were watched in the 60s? Uh-huh. Oh, it was just screaming children.
Starting point is 00:21:31 It's weird because people complain about people using their cell phones now. I'd just so pissed if I went to a movie and people were doing that. And throwing popcorn on your head. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. the the the the the the the the the their. th. th. th. th. Is. Is. Is. Is. Is. Is th. Is th. Is th. Is the the the the thi. the the thra. itized to these horrors that you're just like, okay. And who's scared of a mummy really when it comes down to it? Stan apparently. Bill Jonathan Brandis has this really great, I thought it was really great where he's looking at the photo album and it starts to blinks and then it was really good. And then his dad comes in and he's like like, you th, you th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th is thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thin, thin, thin, thin, thi, is thi, is thi's thi's thi. thi's thi's theeean, thi. thi's thi. thi's, you're never allowed in here again. But it leaves the kid in there. Yeah, like, this is. I mean, just like 15 more minutes. This is not how you deal with anybody's grief, a child's grief.
Starting point is 00:22:13 And Ben, who is John Ritter. And Doug from the Wonder Years. Is that what he hits? I couldn't find another credit for that guy. Yeah, he was, there's like an episode where Kevin stops hanging out with Paul. They have a fight and like Doug becomes his new best friend. Now Paul was played by Marilyn Manson if I remember. Oh yeah, absolutely. That's 100% true.
Starting point is 00:22:32 Not a, not a falseity at all. So Ben sees his dad by the big ass sewer building. the twea. Yes, yes, in the swamp, in the swamp, in the swamp, in the swamp, the the the the th. awesome looking building. What is that? It's a sewer building? Yes. Okay.
Starting point is 00:22:45 Yes, in the swamp of Maine. Maine Swamp. Okay. And but his dad turns into a talking skeleton, which was great. And then grabs his foot, which I really like. I really like a thing grabbing a foot. Yeah, so that's, that's about it. Is it? Oh, Eddie has that? shower scene which I hated. What was the shower scene? He's the shower's heads keep coming out along and come around. It was very Freddy. Oh yeah you're right. Yeah this
Starting point is 00:23:09 I mean Pennywise is kind of a Freddy character. Yeah it's almost like he's haunting your dreams but... I-R-L. But he does he like pushes the shower floor part in like a sort of claymation? Yeah, I didn't hate that part. I mean, I appreciated all the practical special effects. We'll get to the big special effect at the end of this. Homenah, humana, humana. Are you talking about the puppet? The puppet made me want to cry. Crab spider for his face? It had six legs. It was not a spader. All right. And the saddest eyes. He did. It had really sad eyes. I did not notice its eyes.
Starting point is 00:23:52 All right, let's keep. So yeah, so they're tormented by this clown. There's a, what I am assuming was a nod to phantasm scene where they are looking at old-timey photos because Tim Reed's character, Mike, has this book that his dad's compiled that's filled with Pennywise drawings, which I loved. Yeah, what is Mike's dad doing? I don't know, but there's a picture of the town with the circus in town, and then it becomes animated, yeah, and then it becomes animated, yeah, and then-timey undertaker in Fantasm and that becomes animated. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:27 I loved that scene. Jim Gray runs up, I mean, like jumps on one full and I swear to Christ. He was like, oh no, I'm not close enough. And then I'm not close enough and then I'm down and ran up again. I liked it a lot. And then his hand comes through the book, which I also liked a lot, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, their, th, th, th, th, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, their, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, and, and, and, like, and, and, like, and, and, and, like, like, like, and, like, like, like, the the the the the the the the they... th. th. th. th. th. th. to. th. to. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. th. the th the th th thi. I just, there's so many parts of this that I like a lot, but they're just dragged down by so many parts that I literally like put my foot through my laptop watching it. And now I need a new laptop. I watched it in one marathon sitting. Look, here's what you gotta do, you gotta watch them at work.
Starting point is 00:24:54 It was a fucking 24 hour rental. That's disgusting. A thi, thiii's th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. What are they doing Amazon? That's rude. That's rude. I rented movies from there that are like an hour and 20 minutes long, and they're like, you have this for the next, whenever. Yeah, just take it and go. We're probably going to close up shop like Hollywood video and just let you keep everything, you know? Okay. So then we cut to the future. Yeah, I mean, yeah. They're all living magnificent lives except for Mike.
Starting point is 00:25:25 Who like, you would think they don't sell just for men in Maine, because his biggest problem seems to be that his hair has gone gray? I wish I had gray temples. Yeah, it looks great. Yeah, he keeps commenting on his hair being great. It's like, it look pretty old. I'm pretty old. Yeah, I look pretty old. You're 42 or something. I'm pretty old. Well, I am almost fully gray in my beard. So.
Starting point is 00:25:49 Fine. I've got Mike face. What? Not sure. He stays behind and he's the town librarian. He's the only person who, yeah. Yeah, the only not true. None of them have children. Right, right. Yeah. I did say a librarian on purpose. I know you did. I just chose to let it pass. And everybody else is wildly successful in their chosen fields of
Starting point is 00:26:15 architect, Stephen King. Um, Beverly by hand. What did she do? I think she makes clothing? She seems to run a sweatshop is what I would say. And then Eddie is rich by living with his mother. And running a limo surface, question mark? I swear to Christ that guy was his lover that gave him a ride to the airport. Yeah. There was just like too much embassy between those two days. But later he reveals that he's a virgin, so sure. So he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's a he's a th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. that. thi. thi. thi. th. So he's the final girl. And then there's Richard Mazur who is just- Is the dad from Menzino man?
Starting point is 00:26:47 Are we, I'm sorry. He's famous and for being the dad from Mencino man. I will not say it again. I guess my girl too. Is he? But he's not that. No no I mean for in the how he was so wealthy. How he made his money. Yeah I don't know he was living in Atlanta that's all I know. Maybe he was a professor or something he looked very professorial. He did he did.
Starting point is 00:27:13 And he seemed good life he was married and had a nice wife. Yeah they seem they were gonna fool around but they were they couldn't they were they were they were they were they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they were they were they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they th th th th th thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi kind of like, probably about 41, 42 at this point. Clock's ticking. Uh, what is that everybody? I think that's everybody. Oh, Richie's a, uh, a comedian. Stand up comedian? Yeah. God, he's not good.
Starting point is 00:27:37 He's not funny. There's no good jokes. Hmm. Did he tell, he didn't tel that one tel th th th th th th th the the the the the the the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, thi, thi, thi, the. thi, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi, thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. But did he tell, he didn't tell that one on the Tonight Show? That was a private joke. Or whatever it was on. When he was talking, after he did the Tonight Show bit and he got the call from Mike to come back to Derry and he's talking to like his manager guy and apparently he's supposed to fill in for Letterman or something. Okay. Fill in forthat's what it is. OK. The guy's like, we've been through a lot to get the rich. Like, you can't bail on me.
Starting point is 00:28:07 And he just put the sunglasses on, like the deal with it? It stares with him. He loved it. I loved it. He was just like deal with it. He was just like like transitions lenses. I loved it. So they all get summoned back by Mike. Because he's been waiting.
Starting point is 00:28:31 He's been like doing all this research and waiting. One person does not come back. Stan. This is, the end of part one. Like, where I am totally on board., Stan, do we want to say what happens? By the way, we're spoiling this. Hobbs. Well, Stan kills himself because he doesn't want to come back. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:52 And like, I remembered this right before it happened. And I was like, oh no, no, it's really a bummer. It's a real big bummer. Yeah, because he also gets killed in the thing. Yeah, you're right. An Encino man. No, he's an Encino man? He doesn't die. I heard that he was the one who stung McCulloch in my colon and died. Wait, this is all a mess. Well, yeah, super sad. He slives his wrist in the bathtub. This is though after, and I'm sorry, we're all over the place with this one, but who can tell what order it's in? Nobody knows. Even Tommy Wallace doesn't know. Stephen Kang doesn't know.
Starting point is 00:29:26 This is after they're in the sewer as kids, which I thought was a really great scene. It's like very atmospheric. I thought the sewers' took great. It looks shittier when they go system. Yeah. Yeah. Why are there, are all sewers caves? Are I was like, am I suddenly in a D&D adventure? Like, why are they in caves? So Henry Bowers and his friends follow them into the sewer
Starting point is 00:29:54 and they grab stand off the back of the line. Nobody noticed the stand for a while, but they're like straight up to kill him. Yeah, yeah. That seems unusual. Until Belch gets folded into the pipe and folded in half? Loved that. I loved that. You love a folding in half. I love a folding in half. It's just so synchronized diving. So what looked cool was the lights coming up the pipe to grab him?
Starting point is 00:30:15 Well, it looks strange is why are there all those holes in a pipe, presumably that's going to carry water? Excellent question. Did not occur to me. Oh, that's the sprinkle pipe, where you just bump water and it sprinkles on everything. That's where your poop comes out. It's a poop, poop colander. Yeah. No, no poop calendar.
Starting point is 00:30:34 Go ahead. Go to filter that poop out. Ah. I was up in the middle of the night reading about creepy pasta and I'm going to add poop colander to creepy pasta. That's a really good idea. Copyright, copyright, copyright. Slenderman and his poop colander. Yeah. Hey, Georgie. I'm your real dad. Poop colander. It's disgusting. I've been talking about poop a lot on this podcast lately. I will stop at some point. Oh, man. So then they, Stan runs off, Henry Bowers looks into the bright lights, his hair turns white and he ends up
Starting point is 00:31:12 confessing to all the crimes, like all the murders later. Whatever, fine. But then, so the other kids, they all get together, they're holding hands. And then Penny wise picks up one of their. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. their. thi. thi. their. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. their. thi. their. their. their. their. thi. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. the. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. their. S. S. S. S. S. Stan, I'm not even sure. And he's, there's just a scene of like a clown carrying off a child, which I find very disturbing. Really? It's like a very deep disturbing feeling for me. Do you have the clown phobia? Not as much as I do for horses. But I mean, I find clowns unsettling, certainly. What if someone dressed a horse up like a clown? What if a clown was riding a horse? Oh, that's definitely happened. Yeah, I mean, I cannot go to a circus. Do you know what I mean? There's just too many things there that aren't for me. But also in the scene, he's dancing to Penny Wise's on. Like, he's sometimes he's so good. And sometimes they just give him nothing to work to work to work to work to work to work to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the to to the to to the to to to to to to to to to the to to to to the the the to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the te.s. the the the te. the the tie. the work with where he goes, I am the eater of worlds and of children.
Starting point is 00:32:07 Yeah, I thought that was covered in world, sir. Like, that's the problem with this movie is like, one of the problems with this movie is like, there's the scene in the second half where John Ritter's in the cab and he sees the clown just standing on the side of the road with all the balloons in the middle of nowhere waving, which is very creepy. But then there's like a balloon in the car that says, turn back now. Like, no, you just, it's like, you were here and that was good.
Starting point is 00:32:33 You have to take it up to there. The reveal of the balloon memes of people who dress up like clowns and just wait? What do you mean just wait? I know it was happening in Detroit for a while and I think it happened, like they'll go to like, you know, kind of vacant parts of town and just hang out and wait for people to drive by and when they drive by they just wave at them? So there's all these pictures of clowns and weird spots at night. That's very weird. That's very weird. That's th thto fuck with people, and I think it's genius. That is genius. Like there was an old lady who I think was arrested for doing this.
Starting point is 00:33:10 She kept leaving like old porcelain dolls on this family's front porch. Why? She was doing it for the little girl who lived in the house, but they thought like they were haunted dolls. Yeah, yeah, big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big, like, like, like, like, they, like, like, like, they, like, like, like, they, like, like, like, they, like, they, like, they, they were like, like, they were like, like, they were like, like, like, like, like, like, like, they were like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, they were like, they were like, they were like, they were like, they were like, they were like, they were, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're they're like, they're like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like I don't have any fear of clowns either. So like, I suppose if I was driving through an abandoned lot and there was just a clown standing there waving at me holding a bunch of balloons, I'd be a little. I mean, I won't get near a clown.
Starting point is 00:33:33 I'm saying I don't fear them as much as horses, but I certainly find them distressing. Sure. Like why would you go near one? I'm an adult. I don't have any need to be near clown. Children should be near clowns all the time. Sure. That's, clowns are definitely different kids. So, they shoot, Pennywise, with silver earrings in a slinghot. Yeah. And he, that kind of takes care of him for 30 years.
Starting point is 00:34:00 Yeah, after he gets the nebulizer in the face. This is battery is battery is battery is battery is battery is battery is battery battery is battery battery battery battery thia battery thia th. I'm just so insensitive to other cultures. Well, well, well, what have we here? He's twirling his baton. It's so funny. I wanted it to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be th. thi. thiolioliolioling th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the their. theirf. theirf. theirf. theirsesesesef. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thiing his baton. It's so funny.
Starting point is 00:34:26 I wanted it to be pennywise because it was so ridiculous. But he really was just a caring officer. It was a stereotype. Yeah. Oh no. Just as a trigger warning I guess, there's a lot of n-words. Yeah. A lot of n-words.
Starting point is 00:34:44 I don't know why I laughed after that, I just did. You just think that. Because I saw my notes that said N-word, ahoi. Because there's just like there's one point where they're just like, bam, bam, bam. Yeah. So that's pretty much the first movie. Yeah. The second movie starts with John Boyd returning to Maine and seeing Pennywise digging graves, digging seven graves, which I also really, really liked. One of the graves is full because Stan is dead. They don't know Stan's dead at this point. I like that too.
Starting point is 00:35:10 Yeah. John Boy goes to see Mike does not mention the full grave to him. He's not like, hey, did you talk to everybody? Because like, one of the graves, you're not a good detective for being a, not a detective writer, but like, I don't know. Seems like you should be good at this. Also, why didn't you get out of the car and try burying Pennywise? That's true. That's true. Maybe he couldn't dig out. No one's adopting my run at the thing that you're afraid of. I just think, I think that that presents an issue for movies, you know, you, mention already that the special effects are cool? Like when Pennywise is melting earlier, when he gets sprayed in the face with the battery acid nebulizer, he looks really cool when his face is all melting and fucked up.
Starting point is 00:35:51 Yeah, the effects are great until the end. Yeah. Yeah. I love all the blood in this movie too. It's super bloody. There's just blood everywhere. in balloons, blood like just spurting on people's faces, I love it. Yeah. I'm a big fan of that. Super gross. Let's talk about the scene where Beverly comes back to town. Wait, let's talk about the balloon drop first.
Starting point is 00:36:10 Let's talk about the balloon drop. I love the balloon drop. A balloon drop is like my legit dream in life to just be somewhere and have a balloon for they're to their th for like, think, th.. th. thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, their, the, their, their, to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the ball, the ball, the ball, the ball, the ball, the ball, to the ball, the ball, the sc, the sc, to the sc, the s s s s s s s s s s sce the scene, the scene, the scene, the sce the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, thean, thean, thean, thea, to thea, to to thea, thea, thea, one's noticing. No one's noticing, except they're all like slightly flinching. Something just exploded in their face. You can tell how hard these people are trying not to flinch, but they can't stop themselves. And I really like that. Because what's the downtime between shots where you want to say. Beverly goes home too. She has a strange, her strange father who's a complete piece of fucking garbage shit.
Starting point is 00:36:49 Yeah, drunk, drunk beater. And there's a nice old lady living in the house now with flowers all over the house. It looks really nice. She's done marvelous things to the house. She has Beverly comes in and have some tea. Beverly thinks the bell says Marsh when she goes to ring it, which is her surname, but it actually said Kirsch. Pretty close. Yeah. She gets to the cup of tea and notices that it's a cup of blood.
Starting point is 00:37:12 The old lady has served her blood. And their teeth are all rotten. Yeah, I like that. And then, the old lady, the old lady, the old lady, the old lady, the old lady, the old lady, tie tie, tie, tie, tie, tie, tie, te, te, te, te, te, te, tha, th, th, th, th, th, the, the, the, th, th, th, the, the the the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, th, th. C. to said, to said, to to to to to to to to to to to too, dead old lady dad look. Yeah, yeah, it's fun. It takes you a second to process what's going on and that like kind of set you off kilter and then she runs out of the house and she turns around and the house is boarded up in the most cartoon haunted house house way ever. It's like it's very Scooby-doo-d ghost-d ghost-d. It's ghost-d. It's ghost-d. It's ghost-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-like-like-like-like-like-like-like-like-like-like-like-like-like-like-like-like-like. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's like-s. It's like-s. It's like-s. Yeah. It's like-s. It's like-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-'s not good. Or very Vincent Bryce's house and Last Man on Earth. We're just like 27 boards but it doesn't look like anything has actually closed off. Yeah. And Beverly's like standing in the middle of the street just kind of like stunned and shaken looking at this and a truck nearly hits her. It had a very long time to see her. the truck lost its brakes. It like like a their. And a their. And a their. And a their. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. their. It's. It's. their. their. their. It's their. their. their. their. their. t. their. their. their. It's. t. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's. It's like. t. t. t. t. tr. tr. tr. tr. tr. tr. tr. their. their. their. their. their. their. see her standing there like it's like the truck lost its brakes like almost hits her and then a balloon flies out yeah it goes down the street
Starting point is 00:38:07 I like balloons as portents of evil I do I really do so let's talk about Bowers that's a guy name the one thug who lived yeah he is now in an insane asylum prison prison for all the shit that he's done. Or yeah, yeah, he confessed to all the murders. So, he comes, Pennywise goes to him. In the moon, I hated that. And then Belch, I almost called him Burp, Belch comes out under his bed. He looks great. He looks great, yeah. And he says, he's like, oh, but uh, Coons is on duty tonight. He says, he says, he's th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th is th. th. th. th in th. th in to to to to to to to to to to to to to to confess, to to to confess, to to to confess, to to confess, to to to confess, to to to to to to to to to to to to to to. Yeah, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, to. Yeah, to. Yeah, to. Yeah, to. Yeah, the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. thi. thin, thin, the the th thi. thin, th th thi. th thi. thi. thi. to to thi. thi. th He looks great, yeah. And he says, he's like, oh, but Coons is on duty tonight. He says, Coons is the worst.
Starting point is 00:38:50 I hate him. Yeah. And I was like, whoa, is there legit beef between Kang and Kootz? I think there is. I mean, that's certainly his rival anyway. But it seems like you should always punch up, you know how you should always punch up, you never punch down? It seems like Stephen King talking about Dean Coons is punching down. We're just punching laterally. You think Dean Coons is as good as Stephen King?
Starting point is 00:39:10 To go to Half-Rice books and look at the amount of books that are on the shelves from each of them. Would you wear a t-skneed to me. You never punch down. Sure. Always punch up. But I was also like But there is there legit beef like that's hilarious. Yeah, I did like that quite a bit and then Dean Coons is like Sunday. I'll make a movie Mead single Dean Coon's book. Uh, nope. Yeah, right. Has that movie ever been made of his books? I'm sure. Do I know when any are? No. Am I going to take the time to look that up right now? No, I have my phone in my hand. I'm not going to use my thumb to do that. I'm not.
Starting point is 00:39:54 Penny We shows up with a Rottweiler for her head? It just looks like garbage. It's very. the very. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. to. to. to. to. to. to. tooom. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to too. too. to. to. to. to. to. to. the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. tip. tipe. tipe. tipe. tipe. tipe. tipe. tipe. toooooooooooooooooo. toe. to. to why it needs to be a Rottweiler and why when they did that they weren't like, maybe not. We use the dog it's going in the movie. Yeah Brian brought the dog to set we're gonna use them. And my note right after that is at the two hour and 25 minute mark this movie is a god damn slog. Yeah I really again I really think the first part is good and goes quickly enough as like an hour and a half half half th a half th a th a th a th a th a th a th a th a th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi. Maybe thi. thi thi thi thi thi thi th. th. th. th. th. th. It's th. It's th. It's thi thi thi thi th. It th. th. It th. th. th. th. It th. Maybe th. Maybe th. Maybe th. Maybe th. It's thi thi thi thi to to to thi to to to to to to the to to the to to the the the the the the the the thi thi thi thi thi I really think the first part is good and goes quickly enough as like an hour and a half movie will. But Jesus Christ, that last bit is so long. This must have taken them forever to make this movie. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:40:36 I don't know. This is also after we've seen Stan's head in the refrigerator where where he's making fun of everybody? I kind of like that. That was really good. And they were like, oh, we need a drink. And Mike's like, I'm sure I have something in here and opens the mini fridge under the library counter. Like, are you fucking drinking in the library? What is your life? Well, I can't go home to his house.
Starting point is 00:40:58 It's in poor town. Yeah. I like like. scene a lot because he says, John, John Boy, what's it, Bill says, Oh, this used to be poor town, and Mike goes, it still is, and jingles his keys and goes to walk up the stairs, and Bill goes, is it yours? No, no, you fucking dumb dumb, it's somebody else's house. Like, what? We forgot to mention them when they come back as adults.
Starting point is 00:41:26 None of them have real solid memories of their childhoods. Oh yeah, it all comes back to them. It slowly comes back. But Mike never forgot. Because he's never left. He never left. He never left. And look, but the memories are so stupid. Eddie is talking after after after after after after after after after after after after after after after after after. they. they. they. they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they they they they they they they they th. they they they they they they th. they they have. they they they they have. they have. they have. they have. they have. they have. they have they have they have they have they have they have. they have they have. they have. they have. they have. they have. they have. they have. they have. they have. they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. tap. the. tell. the. the. tell. th. th. th. they have. they have. they have. they have. they have. they have. they have. they find out that Stan has killed himself, they call his house and our guests are told by his wife or a police officer somebody that he's committed suicide.
Starting point is 00:41:46 Eddie, they taught, they remember that Stan said he'd looked into its dead lights. He had seen it in its form, not the clown, but in its like pure form. And Eddie's like he ran up to me, I tell you. theyn' tel too' their their toldld, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, told, told, told, told, told, told, told, that, that, told, their, th. Why not tell you about it at the time? Do you know what I mean? Like, I'm like the next day in school? Like, it's also supposed to be summer. I just don't, it's just shit like that, that I'm like, why didn't you sort that? That's the same problem I had with Halloween thrown the thee like thee. that's a cool phrase. Yeah, for sure. And so do they, because they then say it like 57 more times
Starting point is 00:42:27 by the end of the movie. They didn't think of it until then. You know what I mean? They all come back. Their memories are coming back. They have the big chill, they're building the dam, right? And I think also when, or maybe it's a temptation song when Mike and Bill are riding around on, hi, oh, silver!
Starting point is 00:42:54 Oh, way! We haven't even talked about a stutter. Like there's so many things that we're just goofing right over. Both him and what's his younger. that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's thii. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. th. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. I know. It's like you couldn't, no one could have trained you on this. But I like to think that John Boy did the stutter first and then the younger John Boy was just like, well, I guess I got to do it like that. But that was his, the reason he was in the losers club because he stuttered. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, the dumb. Yeah, just. Yeah, just. Yeah, just. Yeah, the the the the the th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thu, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. No. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. No, th. No, th. No, th. No, th. No, th. No, th. No, th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the put the bike back together, which would have been like an all-day affair. Come on, the thing was a wreck. I mean, it just doesn't, it's like, these people are so into symbolism.
Starting point is 00:43:32 They're so cognizant of everything being symbolic, like how Mike found this bike in a pawn shop, like Mike could stay out of pawn shops. And also like three months prior had purchased a bike repair, a tube repair thip thip the bike thap thip the bike the bike thap th, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, the the the the the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, they....... they. they. they. th. they they. they's they's th. they. th. th. th. that, th. that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, they. It's like a tube repair kit, like, I don't know. And then he gets out the deck of cards to put in the spokes and I was just like, okay, guys, you've got a ghost or a fucking clown to kill. Let's do this, come on.
Starting point is 00:43:53 It doesn't have to be light-hearted. And then the cards have which would be a cool deck of cards to own. So whatever, they, the Chinese, I actually thought the Chinese dinner fortune cookie scene is probably the best in, one of the best in the movie. Yeah, they're all really competent actors, so like when they get to just like free-form act, it fine like it was totally enjoyable to watch them enjoy each other and like hang out yeah that was fine yeah they're all back together they're all formulating their plan of how they're gonna go take out penny wise they're going back to the sewer right Ritchie doesn't want to go Ritchie to go why would you want to go to to the the the to to the to to the the to the to to the the to the to the the the they? the the to the the the the th no no no no no no no no no to th no th no th no th no th no th no th no thi to to to thigh thigh to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to that that th no th no th no th no th no th no th no th no th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th the the the the they the the they the the the the the the to to to toooooooo tooooooooo tooooooooooooooooooooo that that that that that that like Mike's like I'm going and then John boys like I definitely want to go and then Mike gets stabbed and it's like oh yeah
Starting point is 00:44:46 I can't go because we get to use all that sewer gear you put together you like has a box full of helmets and shit flashlights they take none of it. I take none of it nothing. Why don't they take knives at least? They end up ribbing it apart by like their their their their. Like they're like like like like like like Guns even, like you're adults. You could work that you're not, you're so stupid. But it's the symbolism, right? Of them getting in there. I'm so sick of the symbolism. So they go back to the sewer.
Starting point is 00:45:12 Mike has been stabbed by the crazy man. And then they all kill the crazy man and then and they all run out the door. Well, the woman at the front desk is reading the glowing, which is one of, um, John Boy. John Boy's books. Stephen Kang. Yeah, and the glowing. Yeah, and they say something like, uh, let's put up the do not disturb sign and pay through tomorrow. Yeah, fucking dummies. Like, yeah, forget it. You literally are paying with your their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their cards, you guys. So they go back to the sewer. They do some climbing around in there.
Starting point is 00:45:48 The problem is, too, that there's so much build up to this final confrontation. It could literally never live up, no matter how good it was. And it wasn't. No, it was not at all. It's like six minutes of this epic, epic saga. Yeah. their their. their. their. their, it. their, it. their, it. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. to, to, to, to, to, to, their, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to. His natural form is a spider? Yeah with the dead lights on his tum-tum. A six-legged spider. Yeah, yeah, Space Spider. It's not good. No, the design of it is terrible. It's a shitty puppet. And I think it does a disservice to the movie that Tim Curry has been thuuuuu. thu. thu. thu. thu. thu. thu. thu. thu. thu. thu. thu. thu. thu. thu. thu. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. their. their. their. thi. their. It's thi. It's a shitty puppet. And I think it does a disservice to the movie that Tim Curry has been so good through
Starting point is 00:46:25 all of it and he's not even in the final confrontation. Well, one of our listeners actually on Facebook gave us a note. Ryan Coates saying, uh, the ending absolutely sucked. I love this movie but hated the ending. King turned an iconic looking child killing clown into a giantdwelling space spider. Yeah. A spider. Yeah. And it's just like... And a shitty spider at that.
Starting point is 00:46:48 And I mean that falls into the, like I'm sure into the budget and all that stuff, but it doesn't look good at all. No, and I feel like they had to have been disappointed when they saw it. Sure. So it like picks up Eddie and kills him, I guess. Yeah. Picks them up and they drops him on the floor and Bev shoots it with the silver earring again. And it backs up. It's not dead, it backs up. And they all just like crouch around Eddie
Starting point is 00:47:13 even though the thing is about a foot and a half from them. It's like, it doesn't even make sense. You would never do that. And then she shoots it in its dead light with the other silver earring. Right, okay, right. And then they tear it apart with their hands and blood. It's hard. Which you only see, you see it briefly, but then it's mostly in shadow. It looks like, um, a caveman scene, like perhaps from Encino Man. I don't know. I don't know. I mean, I was young, and I remember being super let down by the end. Even when you were young? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:47:48 And I had terrible taste. So it's really bad if like young Katie was like, this is too bad. And we forgot to mention that Bill's wife was abducted by Pennywise. She comes in to be the hero. Right. But then immediately gets eaten and she's just hanging up. Audra. That's what his stutter sounds like. It's not good. It's terrible.
Starting point is 00:48:08 It's terrible. And it's like, so when the monster dies, when Pennywise Spider or Space Spider, crab face with sad eyes, dies. I need to go back and look at his eyes, but I don't think I'm going to. All the people that are hanging around the getting slowly lowered down on the spider whips. I missed that actually. I was at the office, I was probably on the phone.
Starting point is 00:48:31 So Bill takes Audra and she's all fucked up. And she's all fucked up and she's all fucked up. She's in like a vegetative state. So to get her out of the vegetative state, he gives her th thia thia th and thi, th and th and th. thi, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, tho, tho, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thii, thii, thi, thi, thiative state. And so to get her out of the vegetative state, he gives her a ride on high hoe silver down the dangerous, dangerous hill. In traffic, like across, cross streets where they did not have the right of way.
Starting point is 00:48:54 And all these people are slavit on their brakes and getting out of the car and go, ah, shucks. Love, young, young, young, young, young. Young. Young. Young. Young. Young. Young. Young. Young. Young. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. And, young. Love. And, young. And, young. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. And, young. And, young. And, young. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love. And, love. And, love. And, love. And, love. And, love. And, love. And, love. And he. And, love. And he. And he's. And he's. And, love. And, love. And, love. And, love. And, love. And, love. And, love. And, love. And, love. And, love. the, love. the, love. Love. Love. Love. And he's just going beat it beat it beat it I think right I didn't watch it the man I'm gonna do that song gave me the note bike riding cares all yeah this is after we learn that everybody has left and Ben and Bev are married within a week and then suddenly pregnant and that Richie is now working with a comic who looks and acts a lot like Eddie but I can't imagine that guy um a guy who acts like Eddie would not be a comic I
Starting point is 00:49:37 don't know the whole thing is just very stupid oh and like and Bill don't know each other's names anymore oh yeah that's why would they forget each other because they moved away but they why would they forget each other? Because they moved away. But they didn't, they were still in the town. It's been, it's been mere days. And it's not like these people lost their affinity for each other because two of them just fucking got married. And they're clearly staying in touch with Ritchie to know on to the ratings phase, Katie? I don't, I guess.
Starting point is 00:50:08 This movie is so nostalgic for me. Yeah, go. And the movie and the book both. I feel like it was really an intro to horror for me. I think I bought it on the double VHS at a blockbuster going out of business sale. Oh, nice. And I bought this and Night of the Living Dead. And I think Halloween, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, a the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the and Night of the Living Dead. And I think Halloween and something else. Yeah, I know.
Starting point is 00:50:28 I know, and it was just like, these were like my things that I was like, oh, I'm in on this. This is for me. And the first half I think is good. And the effects are good and I love all the blood. But there's so many things that make it so hard to watch. That I can't give it, oh God, I've been thinking about this all day. I've been fretting over it seemingly. I've been fretting and I'm getting that wrinkle again that I have the same as Henry
Starting point is 00:50:54 Bower's friend who's 32. Six and a half. Six and a half. Largely for Nostalgia. And almost entirely, I I I I I I I I I I I I I th. th. th. th. th. I th. I th. I th. I th. Oh, how could it have? Did you have a- They had to feed it to Pennywise. They had to cut off his pony and feed it to Penny. I am the eater of worlds. Enough children, enough sherry. Because there was no other rationale for that thing to be on his fucking head. You know what my character is gonna need? Gonna need a pony. You gotta give me a pony on the back of my head, baby. Is all right?
Starting point is 00:51:28 John Boy out! This was a fucking slog to sit through and watch in one sitting. It was a monster. I guess you weren't, you're not supposed to watch it over two nights. Yeah, no, no, you're supposed to watch to watch to watch to watch to watch to watch to watch to watch to watch to watch to watch to watch to watch to watch to watch to watch to watch to watch to watch to watch to watch to watch to watch to watch to watch to watch to watch to watch to watch it to watch it over to watch it to watch it to watch it over to watch it over to watch it over to to watch it over to watch it over to watch it over to watch it over to watch it over to watch it over to watch it over to watch to watch to watch to watch to watch to watch to watch to watch it over to watch it over to watch it over to watch it's to watch it's to watch it over two nights. Yeah, thanks Amazon. Yeah, that's Dick. We need to get someone from Amazon on the line on this one. Someone's asleep at the wheel. Hey Bob Amazon, we had a phone to pick with you. You're doing it wrong. And it's too much. It's too much to sit through and watch. So that probably feeds into my five that I'm going to give this. Middle the road. Totally. It's tot. tot. tot. the tot. the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. to th. to to to tho tho thi. to to to to to to th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. to to to to to to to to to thoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. the the the the road. I would not watch it again. Ever? You don't think you'll ever watch it? No. Never.
Starting point is 00:52:05 When is the last time you saw it before this? In 1990, I was on television. Really? Yeah, I would have been 16 when this came out. Were you like surprised by any of it now? Or did you pretty much this time. He was much more jovial that I remember, much more Freddy Kruger than I remember him being. Very quippy. Yeah I just didn't, I had no joy watching this at all and like, and which is weird because this should have been in my nostalgia wheelhouse and it just wasn't there.
Starting point is 00:52:35 Like, I really enjoyed the book when I read it when I was, would have been around the same the same time but it just this this this this staying power for me. Yeah, there's also portraits of Alan and I on them, which I really love. They're really great. They're really great and also Tom Savini's on it. Yeah. And Brian from Wingsh who hasn't been brought up in quite some time. You know what, I feel like I was really hitting that joke too hard. Also we need to do single white female. It's a thriller. It's pretty scary- There's scariness. Sure, is he in that? Yeah, he's the boyfriend.
Starting point is 00:57:45 Oh, okay. The hunky-unkey boyfriend. It gets a beager. Do we have anything for mail bag this week? Yes, we absolutely have something for mail bag this week. It is from our friend Emily, who is a person who loves statistics. episodes we had asked for a scattergraph? Scatograph? I was going to say scatigories and that's not correct. If you want to say to scatigories. Of our ratings. Yeah. And she has actually put one together. It's over the first 94 episodes. So it's like way up to date. So she writes, hi Katie and
Starting point is 00:58:19 Alan. I was listening to older episodes of where you were calling for a scattergraph so you could see the ratings of movies over the course of time. I don't know if you ever received a scattergraph, but since you're coming up on 100 episodes and because I love a good voluntary data crunching project, I made one for you. I'm sending you this PDF which shows all the tabulated data and the first graph I think of the first of this one. So we're gonna post this so you guys can see it. And also we did receive an early version of a scattergraph, I think of the first 16 or so episodes from Jim Robinson. Great dude.
Starting point is 00:58:50 Great dude. She has some quick numbers as of episode 94. The average movie rating is 6.54. Yeah. The average spread between the ratings for movies only 0.84. Yeah. Alan's average rating is 6.81 and Katie's average rating is 6.27. So when you guys get on the internet, you're like, wah, Katie hates everything. Just remember that I only hate it. Point five or less or whatever that found us.
Starting point is 00:59:12 Yeah, more and more. The largest spread between the two ratings was seven points, and that was Predator. Yeah, the number of movies the that into it. Yeah, yeah, that's how it goes. Number of movies the Tide ratings was 21, which is a lot. And the number of movies that Katie refused to rate was three. I was trying to think of what their kill list? What were the other two? Um, oh, we're going to have to go back and listen to them all. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Well. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Well. Starting point is 00:59:57 She's an amazing. Did this voluntarily. Plus she had to listen all these dumb episodes that we've done. I know, sorry, Emily. She says, I'd love to format this data into something that looks less Microsoft-y if you'd be interested in having something for your 100th episode, but I quite frankly love this. She has ideas for a bunch of different ways of showing the data. Like, you're a, you know, you. You know what, Emily. You get, you're a, to, to, to, to, E, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, the to, the the the the the the the the the th. the tho, tho, tho, the the the tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, the their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their. Starting point is 01:00:29 Last one for free. That's it. Thank you, Emily. And yeah, we'd love to see what That's mean. We often say mean things during this portion of the show. God, the dicks we are. They're terrible people. Yeah. Speaking of terrible people, what are we doing next time? Next time we're doing a remake. A remake. The ring. Naomi Watts. What is it? 2002? Yeah, you know what So we're gonna do the ring it's on the internet, watch it. Oh yeah. You probably own it, you might own it, I don't know, I don't know what you guys are into.
