Hi, this is Lainey and welcome to the Lainey Gossip Podcast for Sasha Answers.
Hi, Sasha.
What's going on?
Well, I don't know.
Are we on like wedding watch?
oh because of i feel like right lately the most mail that i get um emails tweets um are related
to prince harry and megan markle hilarious i have to tell you something there are some hilarious
emails and tweets um about a conspiracy theory like i'm somehow friends with her oh really and
And that you're, like, holding information?
Which, yeah, I have only met her once, like, whatever.
But I think that there is a certain hysteria that's grown around Harry and Meghan
that is similar to, like, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart,
where there are all kinds of conspiracy theories about their relationship
and all kinds of subgroups, and they get together and they talk about, you know,
what's going on and why it's this way and that way.
And just like there was with, what was their name?
Robston.
Right.
Just as there was with Robston, there are people who think that it's totally fake, that
they shouldn't be together, that she's not good enough for him or he's not good enough
for her, and then they fight each other.
It's fucked up and awesome, and I feel bad for her.
So she's, of course, way more polarizing.
Like, is that what you're finding, that Meghan Markle's way more polarizing than, say, when
Kate Middleton came on the scene?
Yeah, I think so.
Or at least, I mean, when Kate Middleton came on the scene, I don't know that there was
Twitter and Tumblr and whatever.
But I think that even in the press coverage, as soon as we found out that they were dating,
do you remember the horrible stories about how she's straight out of Compton and fucked
up shit?
And so no one is going to admit it.
Like, if you went up to one of these crazies who doesn't think that Meghan is good enough
for Harry, she's not going to say, or he's not going to say, because she's black.
Yeah.
You know, what they're going to say is, oh, she was an actor, or because she did this
scene in, like, in suits, or I don't know, whatever.
But it's also because Prince Harry is, like, the more interesting bad boy prince, right?
Right.
Okay.
Well, I think that he's definitely had his bad boy days, but I think he's the one who's
the most endearing.
Oh, I like him the most.
Oh my God.
What was, who was he with naked playing pool with?
Like in Vegas.
I don't know.
Oh, no.
It wasn't with somebody.
Yeah.
Oh, it wasn't someone you know?
Okay.
Well, wait, you skipped over something and like pretending like I wasn't going to ask
you.
So you've hung out with Meghan Markle.
No, no, no.
So I have had, I, look, I, for like, I think this is out there.
We've talked about this before.
I know Michael Bublé.
Yes.
And Michael Bublé, come on this podcast, please.
And hi, Michael.
And so Michael Bublé was in town.
It was, it would have been November 2015.
And he was in Toronto and we had dinner with a group of people.
And in that group of people were like, yes, Meghan Markle and her then boyfriend.
He's like a chef or something.
they were part
they knew
some of the people
who were also
at this dinner
so it was like
a 10 person dinner
Yasik was there
came after
oh no I remember
there was a picture
that went out
on Instagram
not on
I didn't have
Instagram then
no no I know
not on yours
but on other people
yeah on
like yeah
I mean
I love that
Yasik was there
because I remember
seeing that picture
and being like
go go go
what
why is Yasik there
can I just tell you
the story
about how
Yasik was there
is the reason
Yasik was there
first of all
he didn't want to come
because he never goes out, as we know.
Which I love about him.
Right.
He doesn't ever go out.
He likes to be at home.
But one of the people at the dinner was Trevor Linden,
the former Vancouver Canucks hockey player and Vancouver Canucks legend
and now the president.
Is he the president?
The president of the Vancouver Canucks.
Right.
So I go and Yassic knows Michael and Michael knows Yassic
and they, like, always talk their faces off.
You call him Michael.
It's not Mike, right?
Sometimes I call him Mike, but I mean, this is formal.
Like, I don't want to give people the impression that I'm like, hey, Mikey.
Okay, but it's Michael.
So, you know, whenever Jacek and Michael see each other, they're always talking hockey.
And then, so I went to meet Michael at his hotel before dinner.
And he was like, where's Jacek?
Where's Jacek?
Trevor's going to be there.
We can talk about hockey.
You know, and I was like, I don't know.
He just wants to stay home.
And so I texted Jacek and I was like, Michael really wants you to come.
And Trevor Linden is at this dinner.
And you have to understand,
Jacek grew up loving and being obsessed
with Vancouver Canucks.
And like Trevor Linden has such a big place
in Vancouver Canucks history.
So even Jacek, the introvert, was like,
oh, I can't miss this opportunity
to have dinner with Trevor Linden and Michael Bublé.
And so he was like, fine.
So he ended up coming like an hour later.
Jacek did.
Like we had already eaten, I remember.
We already ate, right?
By the time you got there,
we were just drinking after dinner.
Yeah.
So anyway, Michael Markle was out there dinner.
This is what's so interesting, right?
Michael Bublé, A-list.
Or Mikey Bublé, A-list.
Then we have Trevor Linden, who's like a fucking hockey god.
And then it's like…
Most of the people listening to this podcast don't give a shit about Trevor Linden.
Most of the people listening to this podcast don't give a shit about Trevor Linden.
No, no.
But in the scheme of everybody's like business, he's a fucking big time name.
And then it was just like fucking B-list Meghan Markle, right?
Because she was B-list then.
At the time?
Yeah, of course.
Isn't that so fucked that like cut to like two years later, she's like a princess?
Yeah.
That's crazy.
She fucking dialed her life up big time.
Was it November 2015 or was it like even November 2014?
Whatever.
Yeah.
Still, she was nobody.
Maybe it was 2014.
She was the least interesting person at that table.
No, Jacek was the least interesting person.
That's true.
By the second, least interesting.
Whatever.
It was, Michael was in town to get the Beyond Canada's Walk of Fame.
So whatever year that was, you guys can check it out.
Anyway, yes, she was, look, Jacek and I would have been like the D-listers at the table.
Jacek more D-list than me.
It's Jacek D, then you, then, no, then Megan, then you.
No, then her chef, like then her chef boyfriend.
Maybe, maybe it's Jacek at the lowest and then the chef boyfriend.
Yeah.
And then me and then Megan Markle.
Okay.
And then Trevor Linden.
But that group of four is still like pretty low list-y shit.
Okay, but still so amazing.
And then now cut to whatever, two, three years later, she is as A-list as it gets and probably
the most fascinating, intriguing woman in the world because she may possibly, I don't
know, but everybody thinks she's on the track to becoming perhaps Prince Harry's permanent.
Yeah.
Definitely his bona fide.
Well, she still shoots here in Toronto and I have a friend who was at the Soho House
and apparently, yeah, like talk about all eyes are on her.
Literally, apparently when she was having lunch there, everybody was fucking, like all
eyes were like tuned in, zoned into her, which is pretty rare because people in Canada don't
really give a fuck a lot about celebrities, but apparently like nobody was even eating
their food.
They were just all staring at her.
And like where it is around town, it's like she's super, super paranoid now.
Like she's very, very, very attuned to all the attention she's getting.
Well, and especially in that venue.
Like you just said people in Canada aren't really that, you know, don't lose their…
They're not that fangirly.
Yeah.
Don't lose their chill.
But at the same time, especially at Soho House, you're supposed to be like cooler than funk.
Yes.
Like when you get accepted at Soho House, you're supposed to be like, I'm like, you
You know, everybody here is equal and we're not supposed to, you know, lose our cool.
And so for even that membership to be like, yeah, and everybody apparently that's the
girl who shares a bed with Prince Harry.
Like even those fucking cool, cool people.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Well, I've never interviewed her.
So but apparently she is very nice.
That is all I always hear is that she's very, very, very, very sweet and nice.
So, what do you think of this?
Because I think that this is definitely a question that we would answer from somebody
who wrote in.
So, Pippa Middleton is getting married at the end of the month.
And at first, weeks and weeks ago, people were like, no way, Meghan Markle will not
be at Pippa's wedding because no ring, no bring.
Right?
Have you heard of this expression?
Yes.
That, but I also heard that Pippa was like, that lady is not allowed to steal my shine
that day.
Yes.
Okay.
Which, look.
It's fair.
Meghan Markle, apparently, by all accounts, like the UK tabloids, all the press are reporting
that she is going to Pippa's wedding.
Wow.
And so this is no longer Pippa's wedding.
This is going to be…
Meghan Markle's pre-wedding.
When Meghan Markle went to a wedding and Kate Middleton was there.
So it's about Kate and Pippa now.
Yeah.
And like everybody wanting to know if we're going to see a photo of Meghan and Kate.
So, okay, Pippa, too bad for you.
But what do you think of that policy, like, around weddings, where if you invite somebody, they can't bring, like, they can't have a plus one unless it is, like, a ring, no ring, no bring kind of thing?
I think that's legit, right?
Because isn't it, like, no ring, no bring, but also you have to have dated them for X amount of years for them to be invited, right?
Which I think is something that people do all the time.
Like, we get fucking wedding crisis advice questions all the time about that.
Like, who am I allowed to invite?
When can I invite?
And, like, my friends deal with that all the time.
And I think, and I did too.
When I was like, dude, I'm poor.
I can't invite everyone to my goddamn wedding.
So you don't get a plus one if you're just banging a chick.
Like, so many of my guy single friends were like, hey, can I have a plus one?
I was like, fuck no, you can't have a plus one.
Like, I don't know who you're going to bring.
I'm not going to fucking feed them.
So, yeah, like, I do.
Sorry.
So yeah, I do think that actually that policy is quite right on.
I definitely agree with that in principle.
At the same time, I've been on the other side where I have been invited to a wedding.
And sometimes you get invited to weddings where you know you're not going to know that
many people there.
In fact, you probably only know the bride or the groom.
Right.
And they're probably only inviting you because you're like a colleague and they don't really
care about you anyway.
So you know that night you're going to be like, I'm by myself.
And you kind of want like a plus one.
You kind of want a friend.
And because otherwise that experience for me is going to be painful and shit.
Right.
And I'm willing, like here's the way I see it.
I'm willing if I were that person and I were going, like I was a person who didn't have
a ring, no bring, whatever situation.
I'd be like, you know what?
If you let me bring a plus one, I'm going to, like that envelope is going to be stuffed.
That's all you want.
You only want money from me at the wedding.
But that's not what everybody, like not everybody's packing an envelope full of cash like you are.
Right?
A lot of people are just like, I want a plus one because I don't want to be bored and sad and lonely.
But if you're a host of an event, don't you want other people to have a good time?
You're the host of a wedding.
You don't want to look out into a crowd and be like, who the fuck is this bozo?
Right?
Like that's the whole point too.
It's not only just a money thing.
It's also like I am inviting people to the most wonderful, beautiful, personal moment.
I'm not going to have my random colleague Elaine that I invited as just like a nice city and then also have her weird plus one.
Yeah, but okay.
I know you don't want to look out into the crowd and see a strange face, but do you want to look out into the crowd and see Lonely Girl in the corner?
Yeah, I'm okay with that.
I'm okay with that.
I'm okay with Lonely Girl.
Yeah, that's fine.
Okay.
Should we get started?
Yes.
Okay.
While you're looking up our letters, I find it very ironic because I'm going to call you out
right now, Sasha Tong. You hate being alone. You do not like going anywhere by yourself.
No, I don't. So I just either wouldn't go to that wedding or I would.
You just would skip someone's wedding who means something to you.
Yeah. Because again, if I'm only being invited without a plus one, they don't care about me
anyway. Right. That's what I'm saying. I'm probably just a colleague. I'm probably just
like a must invite so why the fuck no so they don't care that I'm not coming a so I would either
bounce and not do that well no a I would either just not go or b I would just bounce early I would
eat the food and then I would totally bounce early okay hey Sasha and Lainey I wanted to get your
opinions about something because my boyfriend and I have strong feelings about this how do you feel
about couples neck holding where the guy is holding the back of a woman's neck as they're walking
instead of say putting his arm around her waist or just hand holding the question is sparked by
this picture I saw on your Beyonce and Jay-Z post yesterday. I guess this, you must have,
I'll show you the pictures in a second. My boyfriend and I agree that this is aggressive
and not a loving gesture. However, we recently went out with another couple we've known for a
long time and they do it. They said it was sweet because he was massaging her neck. That led me to
ease up on it just a little bit. What do you guys think? Aggressive, sweet, or somewhere in the
middle? Are we being too weird about it? So let me just show you the picture. If you don't, I think
this is just such a random question. We're going to attach the picture with the post, right? Yes.
So everybody, we're going to attach a picture to this.
So this is when Beyonce and Jay-Z were at a basketball game.
And here, let me find the…
So this is them at probably a Knicks game.
Yeah.
And there's just a picture of them behind and Jay-Z has his, yeah, his hand on Beyonce's neck.
Right.
Thoughts, feelings?
First of all, I feel like those two have been so much more visually, like, out there.
P-D-A-E.
Yes.
it during this pregnancy. Well, she also had to save it after lemonade, right?
Yes. Well, I mean, whatever happened during or leading up to lemonade or to inspire lemonade,
clearly they worked it out because like we're, we're like, I mean, I am always checking my phone
right now for birthday. Right. Yes. Yes. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Totally. Yeah. Like it's the one thing
that would make me drop everything. Yes. It could be like on top of me and having sex. And if my
phone went off and I'd be like and the alarm sounded beyond his giving birth I'd push him
off me and I'd be like so sad but it is coming soon right because she's like living by a hospital
I I guess I listen I don't know I feel like there's two of them in there so for people who
are like she looks like she's ready to go I'm like I don't know what do twins look like I don't know
either so um but I feel like especially during the pregnancy he they have been super up in each
other's faces and, like, lots of touching and whatever.
And I guess that makes sense.
Like, you know, when couples have this thing that they did together and they're expecting
babies, they're…
Feeling closer than ever, right?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Like, at the risk of…
I don't want to say those words.
Say it.
Say it.
I feel…
I'm in gaggy already.
But, yes.
Whatever.
I'll say it.
I'll gross you out.
They feel tender towards…
Tender.
Oh!
You don't like that word.
I know that.
Okay.
Okay, so various forms of PDA.
Hand holding.
Let's list them.
Yes.
Let's list them.
Hand holding.
Butt holding.
Can you butt hold?
I think you can butt hold.
Like where there's like just a graze of the hand on the butt.
Yeah, butt fucking.
Or the lower back.
Giselle Bündchen and Tom Brady at the Met Gala.
Yeah.
Okay.
That was so performative though.
I hate them.
We've already.
Okay, so hand holding, butt holding, and then arm around like so whole shoulder.
So basically, if this is a straight relationship or, no, no, straight gay relationship, one
person with their arm, in a straight relationship, it's the man with his arm around the woman's
shoulder and then sometimes the woman with the arm around the man's waist.
Yes.
And then in a gay relationship, I guess it's whoever's taller.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Fair.
Okay.
And then there is the neck.
There is the neck.
And then what else is there?
Well, this makes me think of, and you've written about this before, who used to do
the elbow hold?
Someone, some celebrity couple used to…
Was it Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes?
Yes.
Was it that?
It must have been.
And we were all like, that's some fucked up shit.
See, for me, like the back of the neck doesn't bother me.
It was the elbow grab.
Yeah.
Because it was like, I don't know, like that was something like my mom used to do
to me, right?
Yeah.
To like grab hold and be like, you're in trouble.
I love this question.
Okay.
I love this.
So clearly we've decided the elbow grab is the worst.
Elbow grab, I think, is the most aggressive form of PDA.
Okay.
And are you down with hand-holding?
Like, I think that's pretty neutral.
You don't really sort of…
Yeah, hand-holding is, like, as gentle as it gets.
Even…
There are some people who will go so far as to be, like, is linked hand-holding better
than clasped hand-holding?
Oh, God.
Who thinks about this specifically?
Oh, lots of people.
Like, I have friends who only like the linked.
Yeah.
Whatever.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And I have friends who only do the this.
Okay.
The clasp.
I do the clasp.
You do the…
So you don't link fingers.
I don't link fingers because I feel like that hurts my knuckles.
Yeah.
But I would…
But I don't do that, but I do see people.
I feel like those people are more cheesy than me.
I also do the clasp with Jacek when on the rare occasion we do hold hands because we
don't very often.
Right.
And I feel like the people who like linking fingers think that that's more romantic
than the hand clasp.
Yes.
totally. So, seriously, people have thoughts. Okay. So, but hand-holding in general, not that
bad. Pretty innocent. Yes. But no elbows. We don't like elbows. So, arms around the shoulder.
Good times. Really? Well, it's not my preferred choice, but if we're talking like aggressive,
non-aggressive, still non-aggressive. Non-aggressive, but hard to walk. Like,
I just don't think logistically it makes sense. I also have hips too. And so, I find that if I'm
too close to someone, I just, like, knock them over.
Like, I see, I think that celebrities, when they're papped, look really good with the
arm around the shoulder, but in practice, it makes, it's very uncomfortable, because
then you have to match your gait.
Exactly.
Right?
Yeah.
So, I mean, celebrities are really good at choreographing their walks and timing their
steps together, but I don't know that real people can make that happen.
I've never seen a real life couple look as relaxed and natural as a celebrity pap photo.
That's true.
Why do they always look so good in the pap photos?
Because they're fucking, no, they're getting, like, they know.
Because they're actors, right.
Yeah.
Okay, okay.
They probably practice in the fucking mirror.
Right.
Okay, so move up to the neck.
How do you feel about the neck?
Here's what I'll say about the neck.
I personally think it's pretty sexy.
You've got social dialed in.
Search is doing its thing.
So why do your marketing results look the same as six months ago?
That's because you're fishing in the same pond as everyone else.

like okay listen if chris brown is doing it no no right or mel gibson or johnny depp or
you know the list goes on but i think if it's just regular people and i'm okay with jay doing
it to beyonce i think it's pretty sexy well i think everything like we can talk about all of
this but it all comes down to the relationship that we're looking at here right as you said
If it's fucking Chris Brown and Rihanna, no, I don't like him fucking touching her
anywhere.
Yeah.
Neck, fucking hand, foot.
I don't give a fuck.
But with Beyonce and Jay-Z, like they're, they're really lovely together.
I don't mind it.
I don't think he's like forcing dominance over her by the neck.
In fact, I actually think it's quite, when I look at that picture, I'm like, oh, that's
really cute.
I wish Kory would do that to me.
Yeah.
I agree.
I don't find it, I don't find it objectionable or possessive.
I think that was the aggressive.
Yeah.
they're seeing it as pretty aggressive.
I don't find it aggressive at all.
I like to couple watch at the airport
because there's always lines at the airport, right?
People are always waiting through security,
through check-in, whatever, to board.
And there are certain couples you can tell
they're in that stage of their romance
where they just have to like hold each other.
Yes.
And I also really like the,
like if the one partner is significantly taller
than the other,
I like the resting of the chin on top of the head.
I like that.
I quite like, I really like seeing like one person, typically a guy, like I am talking
about the straight experience here, I apologize, when a guy like kind of mushes his face against
the side of a woman's head.
I think that's really cute.
What do you mean?
They just say that's how they leave?
Yeah, but they're waiting and then he'll just like kiss the side of her head.
Like, how do you like the, because Corey, I make Corey do this at every concert because
it's so horrible.
Okay.
Where the guy reaches around the back.
No.
Yeah.
No.
Gross.
I always dare Corey to do that at concerts.
Like, they're standing, like, one person, one person is standing.
Yes.
In front.
With his or her back to the other.
Exactly.
And the other person has.
I mean, no, gross.
I know.
Disgusting.
Is that horrible?
Horrible.
Horrible.
I think that's worse than neck holding.
Absolutely.
Horrible.
Do you remember when Olivia Munn was dating, his name was Joel.
No.
The Swedish guy.
Totally no.
Joel.
I only know Olivia.
Oh my God.
I can't remember his name.
His name is escaping me.
Here, I'll look it up.
I thought they were really hot together.
Kinnaman.
Joel Kinnaman.
I don't know who the fuck that is.
Okay, look him up.
He's pretty hot.
Okay.
And I remember seeing them at the Vancouver airport when they were dating and there was
a line and they were and must have been early on in their relationship and they did that whole like
there was some neck holding and he rested his chin on her head i mean i i could have been arrested
for how i was staring to answer this reader's question though i think that they the absolute
most horrid the most horrid is linking arms like this oh yes i've never seen a couple do that ever
Really?
No.
Yeah.
I've seen it.
I've seen that in like the Yellow Brick Road with fucking what's her face.
Well, exactly.
But I've never seen that in real life.
Judy Garland?
Yeah.
Never seen that in real life.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I hate that.
Well, no.
They do it like I actually think that J-Lo and A-Rod recently did it.
Leaving dinner.
Oh, you're right.
Where they just.
Yes.
Okay.
Okay.
Okay.
I get what you're saying now.
Yes.
Gross, right?
But that's also.
Because he's fucking gross.
I hate him so much.
Well, and she's a little bit of like, I'm a lady.
Treat me as a lady.
That's right.
And they were dressed up and he's probably in a suit and they like were leaving somewhere
fancy.
And so people think that that's the fancy way.
Like the fancy way of, I don't know, holding on.
That is so gross.
Just hold hands or don't do anything at all.
I agree.
Gross but not aggressive.
So that is the worst.
Wait, can we repeat our ranking?
Yes.
So holding hands most innocent or most like no reaction, do whatever.
Of course.
So awkward is arms around the shoulder or linking.
No, that is like, that is the devil to me.
So that's linking arms.
Okay, fine.
Linking arms to me is heinous.
Okay.
Yeah.
So that's at the top.
So we have, sorry, clasped or held hands.
Then we have what?
Shoulders.
Shoulders is fine.
Okay.
If you can choreograph yourselves, then, well, then I think something of you.
Then I think, I feel like you're the couple who practices in the mirror.
So I'll judge you for that.
Then I think neck hold is actually there.
Fine.
I think neck hold's a good time.
Totally, yeah.
Totally good time.
And then what's the heinous?
Then I would say my heinous pick.
I think I might prefer neck hold over shoulder.
Yeah.
I like a neck hold.
Hand holding, then neck hold, then shoulder.
Yeah.
Then butt hold.
I don't mind a butt hold.
Yep.
Yeah, but walking, like how do you…
No, but I don't mind a butt hold every once in a while.
Butthole and then linking arms and then the creepy elbow, elbow hold.
Slash a bear hug from behind.
Oh, yes.
The bear hug.
Great.
Now that we've.
Yes.
But what I love about this.
We need to patent that lift.
Totally.
But don't you think that's so great that I love, what I love the most is that this reader
was having this conversation with her boyfriend and they looked at fucking Beyonce and Jay-Z
pictures and they discussed whether or not that was appropriate or not so bless you too bless you
too um okay next question I have a friend who I went to high school with who is getting married
for the third time some of our friends in our same group who haven't been married at all are
starting to feel bitter about the continuous no no about the continuous stream of wedding
housewarming gifts we've had to contribute over the years is that where you thought I'd go no I
know you didn't you just thought they were bitter um like how she is three and I can't get one
That's where my head was going.
Okay.
This sounds petty and I'm not sure where I fall on this.
Her husband-to-be is another winner in the pattern of alcoholic gamblers that she seems
to like.
I know Lainey likes to give envelopes of cash.
Isn't this so funny?
You were just talking about this.
Yeah.
But is there a time when we can stop that or just pool our money and get a group gift
or do we suck it up and hand over the cash?
Thanks.
M.
Third wedding.
Yeah, I don't think it's a third wedding.
Are you actually even having a fucking wedding on your third wedding?
Yeah.
Or do you just have a party?
Well, yeah.
Like, that's strange that this friend is, like, continually throwing, like, an extravagant bash with invites and presents needed.
Well, Jennifer Lopez has been married, like, three times.
And it was, like, a wedding every time.
Yeah, but she's, like, not balanced human, right?
Like, we're talking…
Right.
But also, if you think about…
And I'm sure Jennifer Lopez isn't asking for gifts.
Oh!
I bet you she's like, you think so?
If you've been invited to Jennifer Lopez's wedding, be it the second or the third, do
you want to be the dickhead who doesn't bring the gift to J-Lo's wedding?
In her defense, though, she's had weddings that are so far apart.
Her first wedding was when she was, like, super young.
And then the next one was Marc Anthony.
No.
There was a Chris Judd in between there.
A Chris Judd.
See?
Oh, my God.
So, was there, like, Ohani Noah.
Yeah.
That was the starter wedding.
Yes.
Then the quick, well, they're all quick.
Then there was, well, then there was Diddy, and then there was Chris Judd, and then Chris
Judd went into Ben Affleck, they were engaged but didn't get married, and then it went into
Marc Anthony.
Right, right.
Okay, but only three weddings.
Her.
Only.
She's amazing.
Yeah, but so then if you're the person who has known her for that long and goes to all
three weddings, you don't want to be the asshole who…
Who doesn't get the gift.
Because then, you know, what's going to happen is that, like, J-Lo and her crew are going
to be like, can you believe, I don't know, Sasha didn't bring it.
Yes.
Right.
So what do you do?
Well, I would still bring a gift.
I mean, I couldn't be one of those people who would be like, I couldn't be like, you
have an alcoholic boyfriend, so no, you don't, or you have an alcoholic soon-to-be husband,
so you don't get a gift.
Yeah.
Or this is your third wedding, you don't get a gift.
Like, I wouldn't play that.
No.
But I like the idea of a group gift.
I do too.
Because, like, what the fuck, well, I mean, cash, as I've expressed before, always a fucking
great gift but um I like a group gift I do too I do too I think that this reader has figured it
out already like I think that that's what you do more bang for your buck that way well yeah and I
I think too that um there's something about the fact that okay the people who roll with Jennifer
Lopez are maybe in a different bracket maybe not as rich as she is but but they've got coin
I would imagine lots of them do or, you know, a large majority.
And whereas like we're dealing with real life people here and yeah, I would, I don't
know about the bitter feelings though.
You love the bitter feelings.
What are you talking about?
No, I don't know if they're fair in this case.
Like I would, I prefer the bitter, like I wanted those bitter feelings to be about,
hey, like why do you…
I want some.
I want some love.
Why do you get three weddings and I have none?
Yes.
I do understand though.
I do understand that there is something here where, God, like, I haven't gotten married
yet, and so it hasn't come around to me yet.
Because you think that in friendships it all equals out, right?
Like, you do something for that person's wedding, and then for your wedding, that person will
do you back.
And a lot of these people are on, like, their zero go around, and she's on number three.
So I get it.
But, and I think that that's a very human, normal reaction, but I also don't know that
it's a reasonable reaction.
No.
Because I don't know that we…
And it's not one to say out loud and discuss for very long.
Yeah.
Yes.
Thank you for sharing it with us.
Yes, you should tell assholes like that us and we can keep the secret for you.
I mean, listen, I'm contradicting myself because I keep ledgers, as we talked about,
and I ledger everything, but in the true spirit of friendship, that's not, like, I don't
know that you tally that shit.
I agree.
I think she just coughs up the dough in whatever format, whether it be group format or in an
envelope and like wish your friend well.
What would the group gift be?
Well, I was thinking about the group gift that I got for my wedding.
I got like a beautiful framed like picture from this artist that we really liked and
a bunch of people went in on it.
And I love that.
That was like super special.
And every time I look at it, I think about the people that gave it to me.
And it was expensive, right?
How did they know that you wanted that too?
I don't know.
I probably told them.
No, someone told somebody that I liked it or something.
Okay.
Yeah.
I think I just gave you money.
Yeah.
I'm pretty sure.
No, thank you for the money.
It went back to the wedding.
It went back to your food.
Yeah.
I think that I like a group gift.
Even though I am a money giver, I like the group gift in this situation.
Especially the third time around.
Yeah.
And I think that this kind of group gift, especially as you said, third time around,
she probably has all the things that people who get married the first time need, right?
Like your gravy boats, your whatever.
I have a big hang up
on the gravy boat
yeah
I
you've mentioned it before
I hate the gravy boat
I think it's the dumbest thing
like ever
well the dumbest thing ever
is that thing that you got too
that I can't
I can never get out of my head
I can never get out of my head
that you got a scale
I can't
it fucking weirds me out
beyond belief
like that's like
the
anyway
yes
okay
okay
so before we go
you know how we're doing
that Sasha spotlight
every once in a while
when I find some
some good deed fashion yeah so I wanted to spotlight Obaki you know right Obaki is from
Vancouver it's by a woman named Trina Peek who whose husband is actually Brian Peek from Nickelback
sorry I shouldn't laugh uh love Nickelback but she is an amazing designer and also heavy
philanthropist as well so what she's done on her site is sorry Obaki used to be my clothing
the sponsor, Obaki. Like when I started in TV. I love the clothes. The clothes are amazing.
In the spring collection, there are some serious fucking doozies of dresses that are wonderful.
What I like that, at least before, I haven't looked in a while, but the Obaki aesthetic
used to be like drapey and like my whole jam. Yeah. No, it's really good. It kind of, you
know, in all fairness, it took a little bit of a dip, but it's really back on its A game.
Anyway, so they have these 10 scarves and you can go to their site and there's 10 different
colorways.
But what's so awesome is, so then they're 29 bucks and with every purchase, it goes
right into the Wabaki Foundation, which will drill a well bringing clean water to these
communities.
And so it's so amazing.
They've already drilled 13 wells and have like already given water to over 25,000 fucking
people.
Wow.
And the scarves are beautiful too.
they're like these beautiful long lightweight scarves and they're gorgeous and the colors are
great and so each each um each scarf is a limited of 500 and they're reaching that goal yeah um day
by day so um if you're in for a scarf and you want to fucking give people water in this world
um go to the Obaki website okay that's Sasha Spotlight Obaki I love it yeah um thank you for
