And welcome to another episode of When Reality Hits.
I'm so excited because Olivia Flowers is here.
We've got a lot to catch up on her YouTube series offseason,
Life After Southern Charm, and everything she's learned during this brand new chapter.
So let's jump right in.
Welcome, Olivia.
Hi.
How are you?
Good.
How are you?
Good.
It's Benjamin.
I was just thinking the last time I saw you and it was when you were strutton.
your stuff at the Cupsie
swim week
show. Oh my God.
Yeah, that's
for a year now.
But yeah, Miami
Swin Week just happened and I was like, oh, I wasn't invited
back. Dang it.
That's how long it's been, though.
I know. How are you doing?
Good, good.
I'm in Charleston at my parents'
house, and sorry, I look
at Matt, it's like right before I was jumping on.
I was helping my
My dad moved a boat and I just face planted into the water.
So I was trying to like not look like a drowned raccoon before I hopped on.
Well, you look beautiful.
But, I mean, boat life, that's awesome.
I know.
We need to get you out to Charleston.
Have you been here?
Yeah.
I've been a couple times.
And actually, my ex's sister, who I love Jenny, she had her bachelorette party.
Wait.
Are we talking Jackson's sister?
Yes.
Not my last evening.
I'm trying to.
I got it.
But he's good, Jenny, who I love.
We threw her bachelorette party years ago there in Charleston.
And Shep and Austin from Southern Charm actually took us out.
Oh, not.
There's no better people to take you out on the town than those two, honestly.
Oh, my gosh.
We had the best time.
And we had like an amazing Airbnb.
And it was just, it's such a beautiful, like, town.
It is.
Did y'all say downtown or the beach area?
The beach area.
Okay, okay. I always say that's you went everywhere, but I always tell people that's like the best way to go.
Like go to the beach spot and then you can have your night downtown but then make your way back to the beach and cleanse yourself.
Exactly. My goodness. Okay. Are you living in Charleston now or I know you're in New York a lot?
Yeah. I'm actually splitting time between Dallas and New York, but my family is still here in Charleston. So I'm literally here like once a month.
Oh, amazing. Yeah. Okay. Before we get it.
into all the juicy gossipy stuff. I always like to ask my guests how they got started. So how did you
even get like casted to be on Southern Charm or how did that process happen for you? I, Leva was like really
good family friends. My dad and her husband Lamar, like my dad invests in their restaurants and
stuff. So I've known them forever. My brother was good friends with Lamar. So I, she,
She just texted me out of the blue one day and was like, hey, I'm putting your name in.
By the way, they're looking for new faces.
And I was just like, okay, like did not think it was going to go anywhere.
And then slowly I kept getting like phone calls.
And then it was like right around the time of COVID.
So I kind of was lucky to have like a lot of time during that casting process to really like talk it over with my family and talk it over.
you know like see how everyone felt about it i feel like in the past and they've cast it they
like cast them and then it's like not that long like okay action like they're going so i i felt
there and find out last minute with bravo from my 10 plus years of experience it's it happens very
fast it happens super quick so i was lucky to have that time um and then i had known like i've known
craig and naomi and like chefs are neighbors so i had you know he's your neighbor right now
he well he just moved a little but we're still on the same island his house used to be like three doors down
from where i'm right now and i think he still owns it maybe rinse it out i'm not sure but now he's like
on the other end of the island so it was fun during filming like having him so close by because he just
uh we just like pop in and on each other and whatnot oh i love that love has been on the podcast
before i've hung out with her in like new york and stuff i adore her she's amazing he's awesome she was
such a big sister to me when we were filming and I just yeah I love her to death she's a boss bitch so that's a
good person to have as a big sister 100% she would just let me know everything like beforehand and you know
like you can understand it's like it's not the easiest process to explain to someone so I always
appreciated her like just looking out for me and giving me a heads up and like what to expect and
who not to trust that came in handy yeah so she kind of gave you like the heads up of who not to trust
cast before. Yeah, or just more of like, you know, watch your back. Everyone's like out for themselves
to each their own. And I appreciated that because I was very naive going into the whole experience.
I wish I'd done that a little bit more, but.
Listen, I'm the most naive person in the planet on the planet when it comes to reality TV.
It's good sweet Southern girls.
Exactly. We're just like, think one's the best for everyone. We see. Yeah.
As a rain sentence in, everyone's nice.
Yes.
Sometimes other people looking in, which this happens to me all the time, can see the red flags and stuff that we don't see.
Totally.
And my mom, I feel like you and I are both like mom's girls and like our moms always see.
And my mom was very much like in general.
Anytime I would film with my mom, she was always so sweet and, you know, like, yeah, well, just do unto others what you want done to you or whatever that saying is.
and then the cameras would cut off and my mom was like if that bitch comes at you one more time
and the camera guys would be like grabbing their equipment and I'm like guys she won't say that on
camera you're like we need the real mama yeah I was like she's gonna be sweet I know I always
joke with my mom like because she gets so nervous whenever she films and I'm like mom you are
my mom is hilarious like one of the funniest people that I know just just being her like she
doesn't mean to me. She's like it's just her personality and who she is. And sometimes when the
cameras turn on, she'll just be like, like a deer in headlights. And I'm like,
he, you. Like, tell me what you said last night after two glasses of wine. You can say it now.
My mom is sober as a baby baby, but she is just the funniest person ever.
Oh, that's always like, mama, come on. But you're let a wreck. Let her. Let her.
She gets herself, but she's just scared to like, it's nerve-wracking for people who aren't used to being around all the cameras and stuff.
So, like, the first time it happens to you.
And if you're not used to it every day for three or four months, like, it's very intimidated.
For sure.
Right.
Whereas, like, we get used to the, like, four-hour lunches.
Exactly.
We're like, no, just please say anything.
Say whatever's on your mind.
Yeah, the four-hour lunches that, like, five minutes, if that are shown.
I learned I learn the hard way like don't be starving on camera because you know how like it takes
forever for the food to come it takes forever to and then you're like it's so by time the food we get
there I'll be like scarfing it down and my mom would be watching about she's like oh leo you close
your mouth while I was starving like this past season of the valley the one that's airing right
now I am like I've lost like probably 20 pounds since I was so
see the, thank you. I've lost like 20 pounds even since my mommy makeover and stuff. So for me,
a lot of people, like, I was eating and stuff and they were showing that, but also where I had gained
weight, I had the most that shaming and body shaming comments I've ever had in my entire life.
I know. I saw that. I got any fights in your DMs.
You did? Yeah. Yeah, it said, like, it was really hard because.
I mean, looking at myself, I could tell, like, yeah, I've had gained weight and obviously I want to lose the weight.
My mommy makeover was a huge motivator for me.
But I think it was just hard for me to, like, get all that negative feedback because at the same time I was going through such a hard time.
And a lot of it couldn't see, you know, but it was just like, God forbid a woman's weight fluctuate, whatever they're going through the worst.
time in their life, you know. No, truly. But again, I feel so much better now. I'm going to make
over. But this isn't about me. I just keep it on you. Let's keep it on you. This isn't about me.
I wanted to talk about you and the fact that you started your YouTube series off season and
you're like reinventing yourself. What made you decide to do your own web series?
The initial idea came from my time on charm.
I've always loved the entertainment industry.
Before I got on charm, I was like wanting to be behind the camera in like scripted shows.
So I've always had an interest there.
But honestly, it was filming and those three hour lunches, like how much would be talked about,
how much would be shown.
There were so many funny moments that happened during filming.
And you'd be so bummed to see them.
not make the final cut.
Right, right.
And I just remember me thinking, like, there's such good stuff here behind the scenes.
And that was kind of like my initial thought process.
Like, what, what if there was a way to show that or talk about that and doing it in a way
that was same conversational structure as a podcast, but giving it the aesthetics feel?
And, like, going to, so I had like, Catherine, Dennis, who was on charm and, like, Sheena,
when I went to L.A.
Yes.
I met her a couple times.
She was super cool.
Super cool.
And it's just like a way to have a conversation and talk about your experience, how you got started.
Same thing we talked about on a podcast, but then having them in a place of their comfort,
whether it's their home, the gym, a podcast studio, Catherine, I went fishing and had this fun conversation and banter and just see, you know, what comes up.
So it was more that was the initial idea.
And then I started on that a little bit right before I got engaged.
And then when, you know, wedding planning hit, I kind of put it on the back burner.
And so now I'm just kind of wanting to reignite that and have all new, you know, fresh faces on there.
And yeah, so that was kind of the initial idea.
Well, that sounds like a lot of fun.
And I feel like it's kind of obvious.
But for people listening, why did you choose the name?
off season? I yeah you're right it's the obvious one just like just to kind of showcase life what our
lives look like in the off season and whether that's not necessarily about reality TV but could be
an athlete a singer just anyone when they're not in the work mode of what they're known for just kind
of showing them more in their relaxed state I was trying to like figure out the abbreviations of it and I had like
OFS for a while and one of my friends was like, oh, again, only fans. And I was like, no, not, no, but let me run
that back to the workshop. No only fans here. Yeah, no shame to it. But I was like, no, no, no, no.
Yeah, I mean, if things get rough, I mean, people can always sell feet pitchers. You know, exactly.
I call that plan G, plan F, baby.
Plan Z.
Yeah.
Okay.
How much better does it feel having control with what comes out about telling your own story?
It's definitely, I mean, you can attest to this.
I'm doing the editing and I'm asking the questions.
And it does feel a lot better, but not in the sense of like, oh, no one else is in charge of how I look or how I sound.
But just more, like I said, having a space with someone who's in a conversation.
comfortable place to talk about whatever they want to talk about.
And I say that people before I have them on, I'm like, you can give me notes on what you
want edited.
You can let me know what you want, you know, like what you want to talk about.
So it's just very collaborative and all about just kind of showing them in that other space.
Because you know, like we film, what, three or four months out of the year.
And there's so much that goes on afterwards that I feel like, you know, we fall in love
with these people, whoever they are.
And so you want to see more of their lives.
And so offseason was just kind of a way to do that and like a fun way.
Yeah.
And, yeah.
I mean, we always say with my friends on the Valley, because we're a real, like,
group of friends that have been friends for a long time,
that the cameras need to be with us 24-7.
We just had Jasmine's wedding and it was awesome.
I just, like, rescued a possum and Luke and Kristen how to come over and help me.
Like, but there's just like, it's all off camera.
Yeah.
Yeah, but there's always funny things that are happening and we're like, why are the cameras here?
No, truly, truly.
I love that.
I love that.
And that's exactly what it is, just showing those moments and, like, the best way you can.
I really want you to have you on, by the way, while we're talking about it.
I will fly out to L.A. anytime to have you on.
I would love to.
You just tell me when and I am down.
I think that would be so fun.
Between work, family responsibilities, and everyone needing something from you.
all day long, getting together with friends can feel like a form of self-care, whether it's a
glass of wine at dinner or long overdue girls' nights. I make sure to drink Zbiotics pre-alcohol
before alcohol so I can enjoy the evening and feel ready for whatever tomorrow brings. Z-biotics
pre-alcohol probiotic drink is the world's first genetically engineered probiotic. It was invented by
PhD scientists to tackle rough mornings after drinking.
Here's how it works. When you drink, alcohol gets converted into a toxic byproduct in the gut.
The buildup of this byproduct, not dehydration, that's to blame for rough days after drinking.
Pre-alcohol reduces an enzyme to break this byproduct down.
Just remember to make pre-alcohol your first drink of the night, drink responsibly, and you'll feel your best tomorrow.
My job is pretty intense during the week.
So when Friday hits, I want to actually enjoy going out with friends.
The only problem is waking up the next morning feeling completely wrecked.
Zbiotics pre-alcohol has become my little insurance policy before a night out.
July is packed with barbecues, fireworks, lake weekends, and late nights with friends.
Keep the good times rolling into the next day.
Drink pre-alcohol before you go out and wake up ready for whatever Sunday brings.

If someone watches one episode of off-season, what do you hope they walk away thinking and feeling?
I would hope they feel like they got to know someone in a realer sense and just kind of feel like they understand someone or they understand someone's home life, a little bit more, someone's passion, just a space to see who that person is when they're comfortable and...
Like a different side.
Yeah, like a different side and know that that was taken and that was filmed in a time where they were.
100% themselves. I love that. Okay, more juicy stuff. You've been incredibly open about calling off
your wedding. How are you doing now that you've had some time to process everything? I'm doing,
I'm doing much better. And I have to say having a partner who was with me to ride the storm
had so much to do with that. And I just have an incredible support system through my friends and family
and everyone, everyone really understood the importance of taking a beat for ourselves.
And it, I can't lie, like the, I didn't anticipate, like, how hard it would be in the terms of, you know, just in the terms of, like, the wedding itself, you know, the surface level details of like, oh, that was like the blueprint of the wedding that I wanted.
we planned it for a year.
So in all of those things hit, it was hard.
But on like the emotional and mental level, it just made us better, made me made us feel like we could just navigate our next steps in life a little bit more clearheaded.
And that, you know, that that that weighed out the the material parts of, you know, letting go of a wedding that we were really, really excited to have.
but we also just wanted to have that wedding when we were in a place to enjoy it.
And I don't think we were in that headspace.
We were just very stressed out about things.
Not only like everyone says, oh, yeah, like wedding planning stressful.
I'm like, it wasn't even the wedding.
Like, we were three weeks away.
It was more post-wedding things that we hadn't talked.
That's super close.
I know.
I know.
Like my friends also have their bridesmaid dresses.
Like, it's so like I said, like the topical sense of it,
of, you know, how the celebration and the party was going to be.
That was a hard hitter.
But, you know, it was outweighed by the fact that it was like, we have a long,
we're trying to plan out more long term.
And that wedding just felt very short term and like a celebration.
So overall good.
And, you know, we stayed off the internet for a little bit.
I know there was like a lot of confusion.
I was like, who stays together after calling off a wedding?
And I was like, well?
I was just about to ask if you guys were together right now.
Yes. Yes. We're still together. And we stayed together through it. I mean, we made that decision together. And we've, we stayed together through it. We came out on the other side. And I think, you know, like I talked about the wedding so much online for a year. Yeah. And so all of a sudden, just be like, oh, never mind. Like I understood why there was confusion. And then that was when I wanted to kind of recluse back. And you can understand that. You share so much of yourself. And then when things happen, you make hard decisions. And you're not ready to.
talk about it yet.
The public, you know, aspect of it all is a whole different layer that a lot of people
understand.
Truly.
Truly.
And that's why I think like the support system, like my family, his family, our friends,
having them, once we had those conversations with everyone and everyone understood, then
it really felt like, okay, we can, we can get past this next layer of things.
Right.
And we did.
But yeah, that was, that was hard because I remember my publicist.
released a statement on my behalf. And then I just reposted it. And everyone was like, okay,
like you're not, you know, royalty. You don't even, you're not J-Lo out here calling off a wedding.
And so it like kind of made people think I was, you know, I was making it a bigger deal than I was.
But it was just like, I'm not really ready to offer any kind of explanation because I personally
haven't wrapped my head around it myself. So yeah, that's why you hire your managers and your
publicist to speak on your behalf.
but when you're not ready to.
And so that was a huge blessing to have my team behind me and just be like, hey, deal with
everything, the personal side.
We will get something out to the public and get something out there.
But that was tricky too because people were like, wait, what?
And I was like, I know I showed off my wedding plans for so long.
And then all of a sudden I was like, yeah, but at the same time, if you didn't say anything and
then the wedding didn't happen, people would be like, what's going on?
Exactly.
Like you couldn't win.
Neither right.
Truly.
Yeah, you're like, you're racing time with it.
I mean, that's like anything.
It's not even like calling for a wedding.
There's so many other things.
Yeah.
Like when I was on charm and things went down with my family and like we had to deal with like a really, really hard thing.
I know.
I'm so sorry about that.
I wasn't going to bring it up.
No, no.
But I mean, it's very similar in the sense that I learned from that experience.
Like you don't have to talk until.
you're ready because in that time as incredible and supportive as like the production was it still
was like okay we're in the middle of filming i have to speak on this i have to and i was just like my
brain was completely off so i think everything that went down with that helped me come time the
wedding stuff not that it was nearly the same but it just helped me find that it was okay to just
take a beat and let somebody else do the talking for you until you can figure out what the talking
is right i understand um you said the two
of you realized the stress didn't disappear once the wedding planning was finished.
Was that the moment you both knew something deeper was going on?
I think we had came to the realization that it was something more other than the wedding before.
And that's kind of how we led to the decision of calling off the wedding because it was,
it was just that we just felt very out of alignment for the track we had been on.
as and and and you know just thinking about things like next steps like his job is moving into
Dallas mine needed me in New York like all these things were coming up so close and rather than
just kind of bottling it up and shoving it aside like hey we'll figure it out after we'll figure it out
after it was like no we're stressed now so let's listen to that and course correct and we'll
like revisit this when we can and so I feel like we had really good conversations that before
taking the decision, which helped a lot.
But it was, I mean, I can't lie.
It was very difficult.
We still live together.
And I mean, we went our separate.
He went with his family in Dallas on our wedding day.
I went with my family and friends in South Carolina.
Your wedding day separate.
Yes.
Yeah.
And, but it's just as long as he and I were in constant communication and talking,
then like we knew we could just get to the other end of it.
And so that's kind of how we powered through.
I'm going to ask you a couple personal questions.
You don't have to answer if you don't want to.
Okay.
Calling off a wedding three weeks before,
I obviously planned a huge wedding.
So I know how much money and everything goes into that.
Did you lose a shit ton of money?
My father did.
I guess I did.
Yes.
Um, we did. But luckily vendors were nice enough not to make us pay the remaining amount,
but, you know, the deposits were long gone at that point. Yeah. How much around did you guys lose?
You don't have to answer if you don't want to. But everybody is wondering because weddings are so
expensive. I know. I'm like, oh, my dad's here somewhere. He'd be happy to answer this question.
I think it was, um, I, I, it was, I, it was.
between 35, 40K.
Wow.
Yeah.
Sorry, Dad.
Sorry, Gary.
He knew.
He knew this was going to be his path when he had a daughter.
He says it to me all the time.
I already had some money saved for my daughter.
He had a little cushion account over here.
Who started the conversation between you and Alex about not going through with the wedding?
It was actually my parent.
Oh, when we came to visit Charleston in the midst of it all.
And I think they just kind of notice a difference.
You know, when we were like sitting down talking about the wedding, it was just,
it just didn't feel like we were on the same page.
And again, not necessarily about the wedding details,
but I think he and I both were just feeling that something was off.
And even though we couldn't put our finger on it.
And then I think my parents picked up on that.
And then that really sparked the conversation.
conversation, the hard conversations. But like I said, our parents were very involved. And I don't know
how I would have handled any of it if they weren't. Right. Well, I mean, if they were involved in that
decision, I guess your dad wasn't too mad about losing. He's funny. He does here. Yeah, it did. And he
says that too. He was like, I mean, you can't put a price on piece of mine. And, um, but next time you're
going to elope. Yeah, you're going to make you. Listen.
I'm down to let Elvis marry us.
Like, I'm down.
I love that.
Okay.
So, wait, not to like switch it, but how was, how did you feel during, because you were kind of
planning the wedding on camera, right?
I know your wedding was while you were filming, but like, was the planning part?
A lot of it was planned off season.
A producer did go with us to Kentucky off season to, like, film some stuff at the castle.
But that was my dream wedding.
I knew since I was a little girl.
I mean, a castle in Kentucky.
I know.
I remember watching that episode.
I was a huge Vanderpump fan and of yours before I got to meet any of y'all.
So I, yeah, I cheered up and watched that whole wedding with you.
Yeah, I mean, I know it's not obviously where I would expect all these years.
I mean, on the 29th, it would have been our seven-year wedding anniversary.
So just the past.
Yeah, just yesterday or two days.
Yeah.
How was that?
What'd you do?
I just hung out with Cruz and who's the best thing that came out of that chapter.
So, yeah, it makes everything worth it.
But I will say I got to have my dream wedding.
I had planned it since I was young.
And I did most of the planning.
Like, he wasn't really a part of anything.
Like, he knew it was my dream.
So he kind of let me take the reins and do all that.
and I had an amazing wedding planner in Mitchell Christensen and the castle.
Like it just like all worked out so beautifully.
So even though it didn't work out, I still loved that I.
That you got exactly.
Yeah.
And it's chapters too.
Like that's the thing.
There's so many days where I had thoughts of did we make the right decision?
Like maybe we could have just like gone through it.
But it's just where we were at that time, it played out exactly how it was.
supposed to, regardless of where it ended up, you know?
And the same goes for you.
Yeah, I was going to ask you, did you feel like some relief after making that decision,
even though it's hard with the public and everything else?
But did you feel a little bit of relief?
There was relief.
It was a lot of sadness.
Like it was a huge gut punch for both of us.
But I did feel, like I said, because he and I were just on the same page and
constantly checking in with each other.
There was a lot of, like, relief there.
And it just gave us space to be like, okay, let's,
look at this next chapter and what's it going to what's it look like for us and and you know people
say like why didn't all have those conversations before but i mean we were engaged damn near a year so
like a lot can happen and that chunk of time how long were you guys together in total before
like before you got engaged before the wedding was supposed to happen how long were you guys
together at that time we were together two years okay and then so yeah and and and then and then
we would have gotten married like two and a little like a little over two and a half.
Yeah.
And a lot of people think that that's like normal.
But honestly, like I was with my, which I hate comparing this because they're not the same.
No, no.
It's the same.
It's the same in different ways.
Four and a half years before, you know, I even got married and stuff.
So a lot of people think you have to rush into stuff and age and this and that.
Totally.
A lot of pressure, but hopefully, and the fact that you guys are still together is a big deal because, obviously, you guys both agreed on this, but you're still together. Are you still wanting to have a wedding? Like, is that something you're thinking about? Are you just going to be engaged for a while? Or are you just like, this is our life now and we don't have to be married? No, for sure. We've had the conversations and we, it's definitely back on our radar because not,
that I'm like, you know, counting down the days, but I do see myself having kids. And so I'm
obviously mindful of the timeline there. And we, I do want to marry. I mean, he's the person I
imagine being with for the rest of my life. It's just do. And we learned a lot. We learned a lot
from the first go around. So we've kind of been looking at like that. Like, well, you know how
people can look back and be like, oh, should do this, this and this. And I'm like, well, we
actually get to do that. So it's definitely on our radar. We don't have any kind of
date or anything set up. But I think, you know, if we both want to be married, we do both want
that end game of like settling down in family. So we're very mindful of each other's, you know,
timeline and everything. But, but going back to what you said, just the expectation and like
the age and like rushing into things, I think so much of that comes from being from the South.
Yes, yeah. Because like that is, I know like I wanted to call.
and people were like get your degree get your husband have kids and like I already know people who are
divorced yeah and like that well yeah but that I like went to college with and that was that was like
their number one goal like I want to find a husband and it's just and so it's just it's okay to go at
your own pace it's okay to do things differently even though you know it didn't play out how you
saw it to be like for both of us it's just yeah it were happy and that's all it matters and

Hi, everyone. I'm hospice nurse Julie, and I have some bad news, but also some good news.
Bad news. We're all going to die.
I know.
But good news, that might be the best thing to ever happen to your priorities.
I've spent years at the bedside and what I've learned is simple.
People don't usually regret the big things.
They regret the small things.
They regret the things they didn't say.
Mind you podcast, It's Okay, We're All Gonna Die, is where we talk about the stuff everyone avoids.
Death, dying, and all of those, we should probably talk about this someday conversations.
So if you're looking for something that will help you, check out, It's Okay, we're all going to die.
A gentle reminder that even the hardest topics can bring us closer together.
Out now, wherever you get your podcast.
It's okay.
I used to think that by 24, I wanted to start having kids.
I was pregnant with Cruz whenever I was 30 and had them at 31.
So, you know, my life changed and my, you know, view of everything changed.
And now I just think, you know, the whole perception of women and when we should do this and that and that is also changed.
luckily.
Yeah.
I feel like.
Yeah.
Agreed.
Okay.
So for the next chapter of your life,
what's something you're saying yes to now that you might have been afraid to try
before?
Moving.
Trying out new cities, going somewhere where you don't know anyone.
That's something.
I think coming from a very close-knit family and friend group,
I've always kind of like to stick.
in a familiar place.
And now I feel like I'm, I'm happy to go and try anything new.
And, like, that's something I feel like that definitely came with age.
I love that.
You're spending a lot more time in New York these days.
What is it about New York that inspires you?
And this is such a cliche answer, but just the energy, just the hustle that's there.
And the creativity, everyone's doing something.
Like I said, I love the entertainment industry.
And you're just surrounded by it.
And, but what I love, I love New York, but I also love leaving it for the time being and just
recharging elsewhere.
That's why I've kind of split time with New York and Dallas and Charleston, honestly.
So as much as I love New York, I also love taking a beat from it.
Right.
I love visiting New York.
I don't think I could ever live there.
I mean, jumping from a small town in Kentucky to L.A.
was already huge for me.
but New York, especially in New York City is even more like, they're totally different.
Like totally different vibes.
A lot of people think it's like, I don't know, but like L.A. is so much more chill than New York.
I love New York.
There's, it's so fun, so much to do.
But like two or three days is like, yeah.
No, I completely get that.
And I lived in L.A. after I graduated college, I went and lived in L.A.
And I felt like they always say give it two years.
like places like big cities like LA like give it like minimum two years before you really start
getting your groove and I was like just at that point when I moved back to the Carolinas during
COVID and the show came along so I was like just really getting to that place of feeling like
like okay I can see this as home and so I miss LA I try to go back as much as I can and now you
have you got to hit me up so that I will and I want to go back with um Ali because we've got
alley here in the Carolinas now.
Oh, yeah.
And so next time she goes to LA, I'm going to make her take me as her carry on.
Oh, I love that.
What's one thing you're initially making more room for in your life, or sorry, not initially,
intentionally, let me repeat that.
What's the thing you're intentionally making more room for in your life right now?
I just like asking these questions because you've obviously done some huge changes that a lot
what people would not do.
And the fact that you're still together is very, like, intriguing.
Yeah.
People would expect that, oh, the wedding's called off.
We're breaking up.
But that's not what happened with you.
So what are some things that you're making more space for in your life right now?
I would say just changes in general.
Like, I'm normally kind of a creature of habit and I find my place and get very comfortable
there, but I am opening myself up, like I said, to moving to a new place or trying something
to being different out, trying out of a web series, like just being open to the new experiences.
And, yeah, I would say that.
I love that.
I think that that's awesome.
If you can go back and give Olivia from five years ago one piece of advice, what would it be?
Oh.
These are so good.
I was just to me.
I had a time next time.
I was going to think of something.
Oh, I love it on the spot.
I know.
I would say not to just be more present and not care so much what other people think.
And that is, you know, just be in it.
You're so blessed with his incredible friends and families and just be present in that.
and not he's so worried about like where you have to get next and what's the next chapter just to kind of let it
roll I would say would be it.
But boy, I'm going to text you later at night and be like, I should have said this.
I should have said not give a fuck what other people think.
But you know what?
I think that's great because a lot of us should do that, be more present in like the blessings and the things that we have.
I always talk about being positive.
And a lot of people are like, how do you stay positive with everything that's going on?
How do you say positive?
And I'm like, I don't always say positive or try.
it's not all the time, but focusing on the good stuff in my life.
Like, it really helps me, like, realize, like, okay, I have so much to be thankful for.
So much.
So just taking that time and, like, sitting with it and being present and doing those things,
that's great advice for anyone.
That's listening.
Thank you.
Thank you.
I still try to take that advice on a regular basis, but, yeah, that's, thanks for saying that.
Do you still keep in touch with anybody from Southern Charm?
I do. I keep in touch with Shep, like the same people I mentioned before, Shep, Leva, Naomi's a really good friend of mine. I love her. I'll be friends to go forever.
A couple times. She's yeah, she is. She's, she's, I love her so much. And pretty much everyone except for the people you would expect. Like, I don't really, you know, like, but, um, yeah.
with where Southern Charm is now like did you see that happening like I feel like it since the
page and Craig and the you know all of that situation I feel like it really took off not that it
wasn't always awesome but it like really got in the spotlight there for a while what was that
like for you who had been on the show and then watching all that I mean after Craig and page
broke up and then everything and then like all right
also at the summer house, like, drama.
I feel like it kind of mixed.
The crossover for sure.
Yeah.
I mean, I think it's the same with, like, everyone watching.
Like, you feel invested in these relationships.
You saw them start.
You saw them during.
And then you're a part of its end and you're watching it all play out.
So there is a level of interest there, I think, for everyone.
And I, I guess, like, after I,
got the boot. I didn't really go. I kind of not distance myself, but I just didn't keep up with it.
And everyone was like, you don't watch it anymore. And it's like, I mean, after you get fired,
do you go back and check in and see how that job you had is doing? Like it's, so I, I kind of distance
myself from it. But I can definitely see the appeal in the sense of, you know, Craig and Page and people
feeling invested in the relationship and then having new faces on. And I think that is like a lot of what
the show wanted was single girls being interested in the guys. So having Craig be single for the
first time and I don't know how long. I mean, I'm sure that like piqued a lot of interest of like who's
going to be the next victim. It was recently announced that both West and Amanda are not going to be
returning to Summer House. What do you think about that? I guess it just depends how they feel if they were,
if they quit because they were nervous about what was going to come next and that's ultimately
maybe not what they wanted to do that kind of makes me sad because I'm also just like you have
more camera time to kind of replenish that relationship you have with your audience like maybe give
more explanation or show other you know the evolving in the whole chaos and so but if it's
truly what they wanted and they just wanted that piece of mind.
And then I think if it were me, I think I would want to return just to be like, all right, let me have this airtime to kind of explain myself a little bit.
Explain myself, even though I don't think their explanations went very far.
The first girl around, but at least.
Yeah, no.
And not so much like for the cameras, but just that is what people get to see of you, minus your social media.
So like, why not take advantage of that and give more time to and more explanation to your friends, to the friend.
the relationships.
Right.
So I don't know.
We don't know if they stepped away or if they were fired.
I mean, and that's it.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And that's the thing because I think from what I know, it's like even if you get let go,
you're given the option to say I've decided to leave even when that's not necessarily
true.
That's when I got the option, I was like, hell no, I'm going to tell.
I'm going to let people know I got fired and I'm bummed.
So yeah, you're right.
We don't actually know how that all went down behind.
of scenes. Yeah. And I mean, Amanda is obviously on in the city. Their spinoff about living in New York.
So she has that. So that kind of makes sense about not returning to her house for her.
But wait. So it West isn't on either. I'm I haven't watched in the city yet. But I mean,
I got to assume he would be popping in. But I think they'd filmed. I mean, I remember being at
BravoCon. This was back in whatever month, BravoCon was in November.
I think, and they had it just finished in the city.
So I don't think at that time yet, all of the...
So that was before.
Got it.
Got it.
Especially in the public.
Like, that was not happening.
I don't know when they started, like, behind it.
I don't know, you know.
Yeah.
So I'm not sure how much of that would be filmed on in the city.
But I can imagine if they have another season or the cameras pick back up.
Because, like, season two of the Valley, whenever I decided to separate from Jacks, we had already finished filming and the cameras picked back up to, like, show that I was leaving Jacks.
So, like, I can imagine maybe they would do something like that and maybe Wes would be on there, but I have no idea.
I mean, that's kind of, that's how we've always seen it with what, like Lindsay and Carl when they called off their engagement.
And then not to bring up probably a source for you, but Tom and.
Ariana like y'all were finished but yeah they were finished then and like picked the cameras back up so
um that's interesting i didn't i kind of lost track of the timeline of it all but yeah i would be
curious to see how that plays out so if she's quitting summer house and she's going to stay on
the the city it's like well i guess you're still she just kind of like is moving up you know
to a different it's kind of like vanner pump to housewives or you know to the value
Got it.
Like for Vanderpump rules, you know, we were all servers and stuff.
And that, you know, we obviously are in our 30s and 40s now.
So it doesn't make sense to be there anymore.
So now we're the valley.
So it's kind of like the same thing with in the city.
I wanted.
Yeah.
I wanted to ask you that.
How was the transition from filming Vanderpump and then filming the valley?
Like did you feel kind of prepped a little bit or did it feel like a completely different experience?
I mean, it was definitely a different.
show but all my years on viner pump definitely helped me with that but we also had other than me
jackson christian it was a brand new cast who had never filmed a day in their life you know
literally sent in a list of our closest friends and that's how the show started oh no wonder you were
like we're friends i was like oh that's awesome to like truly know okay okay jacks and i literally sent in
our favorite people and then bravo did the interviews and this and that and then
then that's how our cast started.
So, yeah, it was definitely different,
but also Jackson and I finished Vanderpump Rules after season eight,
and then we had, like, a couple years in between.
I mean, I was pregnant whenever Vanter Pump Rules ended for us.
And by the time we started filming the Valley,
Cruz was, like, almost two years old.
So, you know, we had, like, a gap in between there
to kind of give us some time to like yeah and like get your feet wet with like motherhood and
everything you're just had the baby there was you know there was a coping between all of that so the
whole world like different and everything so it was definitely an adjustment but it was I really
loved doing the valley like it felt really good and I thought like all my cast members my friends
I hate holding my cast members but so people know I'm talking about for them being like first time
you know, on reality.
And then getting to like experience out with them.
Yeah.
And how much better is it them?
Like they get to come in with you who's a good friend and kind of like show them
the ropes in the sense.
Whereas like you and me, we just kind of came in cold turkey.
Like, all right.
Turkey and hail.
I didn't even go to before I came on.
So I mean, I try to do like watch a couple episodes with Sheena.
And because she was like a quick friend of mine.
She was like, watch my wedding.
Watch this.
So I did see like some.
But I didn't want to go back.
can watch it all because everyone told me jacks was bad jacks was bad jacks was bad and like i was just like no he's
great i i absolutely remember how he treats me i don't want to move back and watch so um i definitely was
like i remember the first time i filmed i was so nervous and i was so quiet and it just took a you know
some time to get used to the cameras being around yeah for anybody on any type of reality show like
yeah it's not as easy as people think no truly

Okay, I'm going to ask you a couple of rapid fire questions before I let you go.
Okay.
What's your current obsession?
the TV show succession.
Oh, I haven't seen that yet.
I'm quite knee-deep in it.
Okay, I'll have to check that out.
What's the best advice that you've ignored?
Oh, plan ahead.
Yep.
Are you a morning person or a night owl?
These days, morning person, but if you asked me that a couple years ago, it would be night owl.
Yeah.
I'm like both because I have a kid, you know, but.
Yeah.
I'm just a nine-hour
beach vacation or
a mountain getaway
beach vacation
same
if your life had a theme song
right now
what would it be
um
damn red these are good questions
I'm mad
it's been like freezing
let me think um
I have no idea
I came to mind
whenever I asked that
tell me now just because of the whole
wedding situation and I know it's the
hill theme song but like
the rest is still
alone a horn written i'll take that one i was like in the like a different a chaotic tune
but i like that one more i like let's go with that one right now
um what's the favorite thing to do when nobody's watching
get in a robe eat some kind of crazy junk food and watch jersey shore oh i love it that's the
whole trio for me shore is like o g reality tv oh gee oh gee
One trend you wish would disappear forever.
Caprice.
Uh, yeah.
I have not worn a capri since I was like a little kid.
No, but I see them everywhere.
And I'm like, it's not for me, fam.
No.
I can make it work.
Like some people can actually look okay in it.
Truly, truly.
Like a baggy capri with like an oversized like top and somehow make it look right.
My boobs are way too big.
I would just like a freaking potato sack.
Like that would not be cute.
Listen, I don't have any boobs and it still looks.
it's whack on me. So I think that's just, you know, that's okay. Oh my goodness. What's your biggest
green flag in a relationship? Green flag? He like oversharing. It's just I love the communication.
I just I want all the communication. I don't want to read between lines. I don't want the, you know,
make signals just overshare. I hear at all. I love that. What's one?
Unpurchase, you'll never regret.
Probably like skin farms cleanser.
So I'm like something for my face because my face is about as moody as the guy's on charm.
Like it's just I can't keep up with my skin and that's the one cleanser that just like gets me through it.
I'm going to come up with so much better answers later, Brett.
And I'm going to be like, can we shoot?
No, you're doing amazing.
You're doing amazing, sweetie.
Don't worry you.
What's one thing?
still trying to get better at golf golf okay yeah for keeping it topical golf and i guess like more on
like the deeper level just be just speaking my mind yeah more like yeah i feel like my people pleaser
hasn't completely gone to rest and i'm just waiting for that day to come are we sisters
sisters from the south it's a southern thing i'm telling you oh my god i'm such a people pleaser and i know that
about myself i know i can know it when it's happening and i was just like i don't know when i don't know
how to change it i can't fight cites i can't be at switzerland switzerland if you weren't an
influencer or on tv what would you be doing i would love to direct tv shows like scripted tv shows
fun. I think that would be the dream job. That was my dream job before Charm. And I was a PA for a while when I lived in L.A. And I just loved it. I got paid nothing, but I got to sit there on set. And I was the worst PA. I would be like behind, you know, Video Village, like looking at everything. They'd be like, can we get that coffee? I'm like, yeah, can something up on that coffee? I want to watch it instead of that. Yeah, yeah. I love, I just love that whole arena. And so definitely be somewhere in that. What about you? What's yours?
Um, well, I mean, I've always said for years, I wanted to work with kids. And, um, even if you go back and watch Vanderpump Rules, they asked me, like, what I wouldn't want it to do. And I was like, I wanted to be a pediatric nurse. And I want to work with kids with special needs. And it's just, it's like kind of crazy. Like, because I've always felt that way. And even in like, I know high school was a million years away from me, but I did this something that we called at my high school peer tutoring. So one of my, um, um,
One of my classes every single day would be me taking a student from special education and going to class with them and helping them with their homework and doing stuff like that and being kind of their peer tutor.
So I just fell in love with that field and those people and how amazing and incredible they were.
So I knew from a very, very, very, very early age.
I want to work kids on, you know, with special needs.
And now that my son is on the spectrum, it's just kind of like a full circle moment for me that I was truly prepared for.
Like, I just feel like I was so meant for this role.
And I'm just getting to meet so many amazing people using my platform to help everyone on the spectrum as much as I can and advocate and spread awareness.
And, you know, it's just.
It's so, it's so cool.
Yeah.
And that's too.
I mean, when you think about.
about it, like you have this incredible following, you have this platform with your podcast,
and like those are things you didn't have, you know, before.
And so like you get to bring your passion and things are passionate about to that.
And like that's, I would have never imagined my life to be where it is now.
And I feel like now I can help that community even more with my platform than I could have
before.
For sure.
Really cool and unique experience that I get to have.
song yeah less for that that's awesome yeah go ahead sorry oh sorry no no no that your friends would
use to describe you what's one word yeah your friends would use to describe you
this is two words but i'm type b i'm the type b friend for sure
my friends are like come on brittany no i'm literally like just let me know you know the plans and
I'll show up.
And I was very much like that.
I was like a type B bride too.
Like the only time I was really,
really like Bridezilla was when it came to the music.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Like the type B whenever I'm very much go with the flow,
but I also could be the friend that makes the plans.
But when it comes to like party planning and trips and things like that,
like I will help get all that set together.
I love party planning,
like throwing parties at my house.
But if you get up to take me out of my house and go,
places. That's whenever. That's whenever I turned into like more tightee.
That's, yeah, no, that tracks. I wish I could say that myself, but no, I just ride on the, like,
coattails of my type A friends and get to go on all our fun trips. Yeah, yeah, I love that.
What's the most spontaneous thing you've ever done?
Other than call. Probably.
Um, probably go on a reality TV show.
Yeah. I think that could be up there. Even though like I always wanted to be in that realm of
entertainment, the reality show aspect of it, what had never really crossed my mind. So that was,
that was going out going out on a limb, I'd say. But I loved it. I loved the entire experience.
Yeah. That's a big deal. And it takes a lot of cuts. People don't know for sure. Yeah.
Questions I ask everybody before they leave.
If you could be on any reality TV show, what would it be?
Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
Oh, yeah.
You're like, let me get those.
Just to live in those houses.
I love it.
What's yours?
What's yours?
Oh, gosh.
Any other reality TV?
Nobody ever spends this question back on it.
I know.
I keep doing that because I'm genuinely curious.
No, no, no.
It's fine.
Gosh.
I mean, honestly, like, I've filmed this show that's going to come out in,
first quarter of next year.
It's already been announced.
Like it was the Amazon Prime show that I got it.
Yes.
Yes.
I didn't know, obviously, it's the first season, but it was so awesome and so fun.
And I would just do it again to do that again.
Oh, that's amazing.
You're living what you want to do.
That's so cool.
I can not wait for people to see it.
You know, we filmed it a while ago, but new shows take a while to come out.
So I can't wait for everybody to see it.
The cast was awesome.
The everything,
it just everything was awesome.
When does it come out?
Are you allowed to tell me?
We don't know an exact date.
Okay,
okay.
But I know first quarter,
which could be like January,
February,
like March,
like first quarter of the year.
So,
nice.
Oh,
it's amazing.
So I,
yeah,
it was like a wellness retreat
for a bunch of different reality,
TV personalities,
all women.
Oh, wow.
Wow.
How needed is that?
Like,
We know therapy and like everything and it was like bonding and crazy and beautiful and all these huge personalities.
I mean, it was great.
So with people who understand that whole process.
Like I can't.
On the show was from reality TV.
So we're so cool.
Oh, I can't wait to see that.
It's going to be a good show.
So I, you know, I would definitely do that one over.
Okay.
Last question.
Who of all reality TV stars is?
your favorite of all time. It could be back when you were little, present. Doesn't matter.
Knee jerk reaction to this question is Pauly D. from Jersey Shore, but if you're not going to say that.
I love him so much. But if I'm like keeping it in the Bravo realm, I,
okay, then we'll leave it at, we'll leave it at Palli D.
Thank you so much, Olivia, for coming on When Reality Hits.
Can you tell people where to find you on socials and where they can watch your YouTube?
I mean, obviously on YouTube, but tell them where they can find you.
Yes, socials is the same.
Olivia B. Flowers and offseason is going to be on YouTube.
Olivia Flowers offseason, and we will have some new episodes to come.
Awesome.
Thanks for having me, Bril.
It was so good to see you.
You too.
Thanks, thanks everybody for tuning into another episode of When Reality Hits.
