Karl and Kevin return after a couple weeks off to bring you a new episode about everyone's favorite "fake creature captured in weird egg" game, Pokemon Go. That's right, there are Pokemon Go Podcasts out there and we reviewed one called Go Time. Episode titled, "Love At The Dog Park". Now normally Kevin is lazy and does no research at all for shows. He basically does sub-par impressions and tries not to mess up the audio recording too much. But this week, well Kevin stepped up his game and actually PLAYED Pokemon Go. Not because he thought it would make the podcast better, but because he feels old and wants very desperately to fit in with what the youths are into. Karl on the other hand, was oddly nice this week and wasn't MF'ing the hosts as much as usually. Has he turned over a new leaf? Perhaps, but that leaf is was covered in doo-doo-feces anyways most likely. And we have a new show for you when we're analyzing a Pokemon Go podcast. Yes. And I think Kevin and I will both just put it out there

at the beginning here. Neither of us play Pokemon Go. We don't really know a lot about Pokemon at all. And I'm not against the game or people playing it. I don't know about making a podcast about it. That's a little weird. But I'm just gonna throw it out there right now because it's funny I was talking to my brother recently

and he was telling me how when we did the conversation The shit that we were saying about Donkey Kong was all wrong Per say but I'm just gonna put this claim out there whatever we say about Pokemon go We have no idea we're talking about we know that yes And I'll go back and say I have actually started to play. I have f*****. I'm sorry I jumped out of the gun like that. I had no idea.

Well I'm not really playing as much as I'm just kind of researching if you will for the show. For the show. So I'm like, this is the same reason why you're going to buy a furry costume. Right, right. Yes. For the goof, for the goof, everybody. Yeah. I'm, I'm sort of like, I have the app on my phone. And I was home in Rochester this past weekend or whatever. And so I was able to catch a few Pokemon up there. I did that. I can say that I've done it. I still don't know what the hell I'm doing or really what the appeal of the game is. But at least I have a little bit of familiarity with it. So I can sort of... You should know everything about it now that we just listened to Go time.

Oh yeah, because this was chock of stuff about Bogeyman Go. Actually, it was chalk full of everything but Bogeyman Go. It seems like they went on lots of different tangents, on weird topics and stuff that were sort of. Well, before we get into it and play the clips that we think best summed up the show, I do want to give praise where praise is due. Here's what I thought was good about this show.

I thought the mates are three hosts, one guy and two girls. I thought the guy who seemed to be the main host. He seemed to control the conversation. He was good. He does other podcasts. He seemed to have a good understanding of broadcasting. And although they did get off on tangents here and there, I felt as though the entire time they were talking

about Pokemon and Pokemon Go related things, which is all I asked for in a podcast, if you're gonna have a topic, have something that you wanna talk about, these other shows we listen to, where two people are just having a boring conversation about nothing frustrates the how out of me. So I just wanted to throw it out there.

I'm going to say a lot of things that talk about the show, but I thought that that element of it was decent. Yeah, and I'm going to just add on to that too, not that we're completely devoid of being dicks if we want to be, but this is only like the fourth episode or third episode or something like that that they've done for this show so But in the same respect you've just said it yeah yourself They they do other podcasts. So this isn't like the first time they've ever done a show or anything so Yeah, and Kevin hold on a second go back to our third show. It's fucking amazing So I don't want to hear that your third show can't be good.

Cause we fucking nailed it. Yeah there's still people discovering our third show cause I'm getting tweets about it all the time. The fuck, man. Fucking Google. I blame Google for this. Yes. So yeah I mean overall I thought it was, I don't know, I mean, I

don't understand the game really. So it just sounds like gibberish half the time. Like, I don't really know what the fuck they're talking about. But I guess if, you know, if someone who's going to listen to me do a, you know, a podcast about, I don't know, Legos or something, they would be like, what the fuck is he talking about. So I mean, I guess, you know, it's all relative. But... Alright, well, let me familiarize our audience as what we're talking about.

I'm gonna play the clip that I think best sums up the show. It came late in the show. It's number 17 called Funny Story. Funny story about that. The first day that the game came out, I told everybody that there were rats in the break room and most of them weren't playing Pokemon yet. Then they're like, oh my god, what? And then I sent them an AR picture of eradicated our break room.

Yeah. This is what's going on in this show these guys do Laugh at Pokemon go jokes. Yeah, that sounds like such a fake story Yeah, I know could you imagine I was like oh my god Guarantee no one at her job listens to a fucking thing she has to say that's definitely a fake story Let me see what I've got There's I took a lot of ones that are just kind of, I didn't understand them so then I just took the clip because I don't understand what other talking about but there's a really ridiculous laugh in here that I want you guys to hear. How about that? Not that she's bitter, actually on a high level, let me play that again so you can hear it.

Yeah, wow. How about that? Not that she's bitter, Kat. Actually, on a high level, that's... She just lost her shit. Yeah. Was she vomiting? What was that?

All right, let me give you another example of that. Track 3, I have, it's called an example of a fun and funny stories. They tell these stories about playing the game and crack each other up. So play Track 3. And realize that the only thing that had been sitting on this gym for 20 minutes was a 15-CPM magic car. Yeah. minutes was a 15 CP magic card. Yeah. So, so obviously, Kevin, you and I have no idea what the fuck he's talking about or why that

would be funny. But I decided to give it the big bang theory treatment. You know, a big bang theory, there's no jokes in it. And you just put a fucking laugh track in and it makes the jokes funny. Play track for and realize that the jokes funny. Play track 4. And realize that the only thing that had been sitting on this gym for 20 minutes was a 15 CP magic car. Yeah! Bazinga. It makes it a funny joke, I don't know, I'm kind of thinking this guy is a... I'm just out there.

Oh, yeah. So they talk about, I have that magic harp thing too, like that was... I don't know what the fuck they're talking about here with these things, but right in the beginning of the podcast, they do some like trash talking between the two of them, because apparently this is how I understand it, right? So when you reach level five with your character, you have to pick a team, right? And there's three teams. Holy shit, you did more research than I did for a while, this is amazing. Well, I had no idea.

I may be dating somebody who knows something about this game. Oh, right. So, anyway, so she... So this is your guys' pillow talk? Oh, but... Sure. So we're talking about Val. What's that got? Valor, I guess Valor's a team and then like instinct,

and then I don't remember the other one miss is it mystic? There you go. I mean I missed mystic or something like that. So it's less than anything. So they're getting They're getting very very pissy at each other and then the beginning of this. So so here's that I'm the one who's just gonna keep trash talking you guys will eventually give it up But as a slither in and a valor it's like in my DNA Okay, so What she said but as a slither in and a valor, it's like in my DNA. Okay, so what she said, there's a slither in. So apparently a slither in is a reference to Harry Potter, something or other. Oh, really?

Yeah. Shit. So this is deeper than I realized. Yeah, yeah. So there. So and then and then there's this too, I'll play, which is another reference, another Harry Potter reference. Team mobile is the Hufflepuff of carriers. Yeah. Yeah. So a Hufflepuff apparently is a reference to Harry Potter, which I did not know

this. We had to look it up up when I say we because my my Significant other was listening to this at the same time as me. So we were like what the hell's a huffle puff? Cuz I thought it was some you know fucking Pokemon or something, but I Have a research team too. Don't feel bad about that. Okay. Yeah, I had no idea I don't I never get into Harry Potter. I don't know what any of that shit is. So they're cross-heavening different nerd shit. Now it's supposed to follow this. Right. Like if they could have just thrown in like a boba fat

or something, you know what I mean? Like something I said I like that. I could have known. Something that we can relate to. Right. Right. That's funny. Well, since we were talking about this,

I might as well get this out of the way. I created a montage as I often do. What I did was I created a montage called the Made Up montage. These are all things that are not real that make zero sense to me. And there's a lot of it in this show. Wow, go ahead and point that. Looking for that snorlax anymore.

1500 CP, it's really good gym. 10 CP, Zubat on it. 10 CP, Zubat, you drop a a lore it had flipped to instinct 15 CP magic Carp team sigils professor willow is an evil madman, you know when you throw a raspberry or when you use a great ball I mean they're only pigeons, but still Pidgeys that's a good segue into the next game mechanic trick Pidgeys are awesome. Pidgeys are amazing. You should own all the Pigeys. The lucky egg increases your XP by two times.

With the lucky egg, you get a thousand XP per evolution. Pigeys and weedles and catarpeys, they only take 12 candy to level up. Boneship Pigeys and then you can turn them into candy. And then you can, it takes about 30 seconds to evolve something. The lucky egg works for 30 minutes. So you can just evolve 60 Pigeas and then you get a ton of experience and tell your friends that you just call it a dragonite. Things like that.

You would have like 250 dragonites. Yeah. I got a Kangaskan and Kangastan. CP-10 Gizu-Bad. They're ugly. They only turn into stupid stinkin radicates. At least Pidgeys are good for something. Kevin, this summer here is the sound of every vagina drying up. I say listen to that

conversation. That is my Pidgey. That is ridiculous. This show was hard to follow at a lot of the time. Yeah, like I said, I've only been playing, if you will, for a couple of days. I don't understand what the hell they're talking about. All I know is that you walk around and these fucking animals appear and you throw balls at them and then you capture them in the balls and that's all that you do. That's pretty much the extent of what I've done.

Oh, but Kevin, you're missing a crucial element that they talk about a lot. The shit talking that goes on. Oh, there's some crazy smack-talking. Watch out! Oh, that seems like the lam is fucking part of the game. Suck my bitchy. Hey, hey. So, in that, that, uh, my dad did it together. One of the first things we talked about was a Snorlax. So, I don't know, I'm Googling shit as I'm listening as usual.

Like, what the fuck's a Snorlax? So, a Snorlax is like this lazy Pokemon and I'm reading the the website about him and it says is he's 1,014.1 pounds. And I'm wondering why a cartoon character would need to have such a specific weight. 1,014.1 pounds i i know this is a japanese thing could it be because of the conversion from metric seriously i could be fucking take the kilograms or other fucking ins and say well it really is you know to the to the tenth it's

uh point wow we could go point oh nine eight seven but i just i thought that was I thought that was entertaining. Yeah I don't know you know what the you know what reminds me of it's kind of like G I remember G I Joe the old G I Joe's you could get like the back of the like the card on the back with like sail bottom and like of course I fucking do Kevin yeah they had like wait and high and she's like I don't fucking care I just want the little plastic dude in this this package dude dukeway 238 So can write so of course I know about that

so This this whole thing like just and I don't want to get too So this whole thing, like just, and I don't want to get too much to the end here, but the whole thing really kind of reminds me of a lot of the fads that kind of, you know, that we saw growing up, you know, there was pugs, remember pugs, it was a thing, and then the elf is back, but now he's in Pog form. I knew that was coming. I don't know, favorite. Yeah, I've ever been in Pogs. So there's Pogs and there was magic,

the gathering was big, and that was kind of after our time, but that was like a big thing for a while, where like kids were like fucking flipping out over that. And then like, you know, like the beanie babies thing, and then there was just there's so many of these things that kind of can you name 17 more yeah we fucking get it in fact I will let's see so we've got let's see uh all right anyway you move it to her bead you remember Furby there was the

Furby and then yeah so no I just, I wonder. Kid sister, kid sister, kid sister, for M.R.E.G.S. I always wonder, like, how long these types of f- I mean, especially this being a mobile game, because mobile games do not have a very long shelf life. So I wonder how long this kind of trend is going to continue, because this is like, this is a huge deal. This game is like, I don't know what the numbers are exactly, maybe you know, as far as downloads and stuff, but this is like a fucking phenomenon.

Ironically this game where you chase after Pokemon will not have legs. Hey. Oh. Oh. I got, uh, I obviously got some more, uh, some more clips here. And then just, they get kind of nerdier and nerdier as they go. Um, wait, well, last second, I'm sorry. I think I fucking derailed you. You were talking about how this is a huge game and everyone's downloaded it, but it's a fad and there's been lots of fads. Was there a point you were going to make there?

No, I, I killed that. No, I don't. No, no, there really wasn't. I mean, I was just saying like, I'm just wondering like, how long this is going to continue? Like, because it's, once you see it like Jimmy Fowl and making fucking jokes about Pokemon Go, then you know that it's like,

All right, so that actually segues very nicely into a clip I have I'm sure you do too, but play track six And I found a realtor who listed all the Poke stops and gyms within walking distance I've asked the first tale has to there were like 15 of them. I I recommend like that's a good realtor All right, so two questions from that. Number one, how long do you plan living in a house

that you're going to buy? Like you said, do you wait for see yourself playing Pokemon Go two years from now? You're gonna live in a house for 20 years, and that's what you're gonna make your decision based on. But that my other question is, how old are the people buying houses these days? When I was 12, I was not buying a house.

I'm so confused by why a realtor would use it as a selling point. Well, there's many Poke Stops near this home. No. Well, it's only a half a bath. There's no shower. But we do have a Poke Stop and a gym down the street. And several, I just want to let you know, several snorlaxes have been spotted in the backyard. I think I'm pretty sure I thought Pikachu the other day. I'm just saying all right. If you want to offer in, you should probably do it now. There's another 10 year old who's very excited about this. Poke Stopper out here? Why would I buy this house? This is insane. We're back it out of this deal. You said there would be snorlaxes and there is no snorlaxes. Oh, I have his pigeons. If I was smart, I would have written down all the names of these fucking characters so I could have rattled them off as if I knew what I was talking about, but that's smart. Yeah, I should probably should have done that too, you know, being that I'm like a player and everything now. I should know, you know, what these, what these fucking things are.

Yeah, I actually have that same realtor clip. I thought that was pretty, it's a really good experience. This is like, you know, the 1980s realtor being like, well, I just want to let you know that these, this house is very, very conducive to He-Man play. So you can set up your stuff, your battle cats, and what have you, and have yourself just a grand old time. You know, it's like whatever the... In the adjacent room, you can get all your W.W.F. figures and you can fit the ring right in the middle and you can have tag team matches. In fact, the previous owner was Captain Lou Albano. You might find a rubber band or two.

And before before you play it I do have sympathy because we all this happens to all of us where you're just trying to you just can't think of the word you want to say but this is pretty brutal. So, you know, the brain fart thing is, it's tough when you're broadcasting, but similar to how I gave that other clip, the Big Bang Theory treatment,

Well, at a pretty high level. It was, you know, I had a really nice Gerdo's on it, like 1500 CP. It's really good, Jim. So, I played that clip probably 50 times trying to figure out what the hell she said in the middle there. It's like some type of dragon or something, I don't know, whatever dragon Pokemon

or whatever the hell it is. And then she talks a bit here about playing and meeting kids while they're out in these parks. And then she gets, she has a little violent, all right? So, parental discretion advised. The gym up another level, and then I look at the gym, and there's a 10 CP zoo bed on it from that stupid kid, and I swear I came so close to pushing him into the Chesapeake Bay.

They're like, oh herity in suit. I have no idea what any of that means, but she was very upset about this. Whatever move this little kid blade. Yeah. She's like, he put a level 10 snorlax at the top of the charmander. I'm like, I don't know. Just like it say words that don't exist. We have a show where we just say words that don't exist. Have fun with that.

I put a pair of second on top of a Venomoth of the Tentacrull of the Flareon. Now I hate the way that Bob-Up-Lay makes a BB-Doo. And then the Aero-Dacto and the Sparky and the Vaporon and the King-Glor. Now I just want you to know those were all actual Pokemon. I just said, I have, I have, oh, you pulled it up. You're smart. I pulled it up. Yeah. So while it sounded like I was basically having a stroke

in my microphone, no, those were actual Pokemon less people. So I should hang up on 911 right now. Yeah, yeah, you could, all right. Do you know what the dialed last one? You can, okay, fair enough. So speaking of, actually, this is a pretty good segue into a clip that I pulled and I called this and now the show has officially become sad. I am a 30 plus year old woman.

It may look really creepy that I'm just talking to all these 10 year olds. Yeah, I can get away with it because I still look like I'm 17. Yeah. Ooh. A 30 plus year old woman. I'm guessing that plus is 15. I guess it's a 45 year old woman.

You know Kevin, I'm a 17 plus year old guy. She's talking to 10 year olds and playing fucking Pokemon Go. That means she owns a lot of cats. Lots of cats. And again, I gotta tell you, I was talking to my brother and he's all in on this game and him and my nephews drive around and play this game and I think he was throwing out stats like the average A's is 28 or something and whatever.

I don't know. I'm really, I'm not judging. It's definitely a kid game and like you said, it seems boring. I don't know what you even supposed to do. You just walk around catching shit and you know, what happened after that. I personally though, I just don't get location based anything. I have never checked into a place on any type of app. I never give a shit about telling people where I am or going places because of some virtual fucking thing that's going on. I never understood that part of 2016. I mean, I've certainly used my fair share of, you know, four square and swarm and all those different apps and stuff.

And I can see like the appeal. I can see the appeal to some of them. And I kind of actually, it's funny because this game before it was Pokemon, well, they had another game called Ingress, which the developer made Ingress. And I had played this, I don't know, probably two or three years ago, somebody told me about it, and it was the same thing, except you weren't capturing little gremlins or whatever, fuck they are. And I didn't really get it, and I was like, all right, whatever, it's kind of cool, you go places, literally, literally physically travel to places and you do these things or whatever

But if you've ever seen me before, you know, I don't like to physically go anywhere So it was it wasn't really an appealing game to me. So I just have a question for you. Are you the mayor of show world? Yes, I am the mayor About that. It's a claim to fame. The mayor of a porn theater. Yeah. That is a claim to fame. That's right. I forgot.

I shouldn't even mention how I thought that was bullshit. I apologize. If I check in 50 times in a row though, I get a free hand job. So it's free hand jibbers. Yep. Just 50 times. That's all it takes. I could do that in a day. Yeah.

Yeah, so I want you to play a track that I called the nerdiest conversation average track 16. This is brutal. Okay. By all means continue to brute force your way through this. It'll totally work for you. Yeah, I mean, it's working for me so far. How far are you? I'm like 15, but that's again, I live in the burbyest of birds. No, really. You come wander around my neighborhood and tell me how fast you level up. I just go other places and catch things. Because you have a car.

Yeah. That would be better than the nerds' clip. I've been using hard-boiled lately. It's so funny. But holy shit, that was nerdy on so many fucking levels. These are adults talking to each other. This one who lives in the suburbs doesn't own a car. And I don't know. We're I'm from everybody owns a car. I know that if you live in the city, you know, in big cities, you don't, you public transportation. But if you live in the suburbs and you don't in big cities, you don't, you public transportation, but,

if you live on the suburbs, you don't have a car. What the fuck are you doing? Yeah. Yeah, well, she didn't just say she lived in the suburbs. She lives in the burbiest of burbs. The burbiest of burbs. Yeah, every part of, every sentence of that was nerd. Every single fucking part was nerd.

I know, I'm the nerd. I know it's dem the nerd. There's so this one woman, I don't know if this is the burbiest of burbs one, but the woman that I was talking about earlier who sounds nervous or voices shaky. She gets into a part where I think she's trying to sound really smart or maybe she's nervous what she's talking about, but she does not take a breath. Play Track 10, this is crazy. A good group of people on Reddit that are trying to reverse engineer the game. Look at the APK, it's solved. Look at all the game files and figure out

exactly how the mechanics are programmed in the game. Because sure, we can guess anecdotally that when you throw a raspberry or when you use a great ball, it seems like the ball spins in any which direction, no matter how careful you throw it. And I think one of the best facts that has been found so far is that incense is actually programmed to work better when you are moving than when you're standing still.

So you will actually find that you will catch more Pokemon if you are actually moving around. Oh my God. I never realized. Yeah. That's a crazy like odd and odd. Yeah. It was like somebody lit a fire under her ass or something. It was strange. I never I never really realized that when I listened to it the first time. I realized how ridiculous most of the shit was that she was saying.
