Who Are These Podcasts? - Ep58 - Gone Railin

Episode Date: May 16, 2017

The newest esisode of WATP features a review of a show all about model trains.  Model trains are cool when you're a little kid (they're no LEGO, but we digress).  However, when you're an adult it is... usually a good sign that you are lonely or just enjoy tiny versions of things.  Learn which one you are by listening to Kevin and Karl dissect yet another gem of a show. Starting point is 00:00:00 It's show time. Really just a handful that don't suck That's where we come in My answer is like, oh, Lord, open and they're under him W-A-G-P W-A-G-P W-A-G-P Who are these partners? double your way to be? Who likes these partners, not double your way to be? Who likes these partners, that was beyond me?
Starting point is 00:00:58 Who are these partners, double your way to be? This podcast, W-A-T-P! I'm your host Kevin and with B here is Carl. We want to remind everyone if you like the show leave us a comment on iTunes. You can contact us at whoarethese.com. We're also on Facebook and something called Twitter at Who Are These Pod. Today's show will be reviewing Gone Rayland. As always we're both listening to the episode separately. We've been asked to discuss it with each other beforehand. So let's get into it. I'll start right off the bat. It's early for me here. So if I saw it in a little, I don't know, without
Starting point is 00:01:59 coffee, that's the reason why. Because it's early for me. So have you had, have you had a couple coffee yet Kevin? I'm having iced coffee. I'm having yesterday's leftover coffee Delicious. Yeah, yeah, that's that's definitely a treat right there The question I have for you though is have you had your morning shit yet because I know it's early for you Yes, I have. OK, good. Good. Well, we should be good to go now.
Starting point is 00:02:27 Let's start playing some clips. We did a show, Gone Railing. It's about trains and specifically model trains. These guys are all model train enthusiasts. And I do have a clip that I call a clip that best sums up the show for me. So before we get into it too much, let's let people know what this kind of sounded like. Track 16. Yeah, they have a good layout so they don't be real.
Starting point is 00:02:57 Yeah, I don't think even my club's layout, I don't know if you would make it up those grades. Now that a lot of power. Yeah. Yeah. These, Carol, I don't think he's got pickups. We're done now. I'll turn on the mustache.
Starting point is 00:03:23 These. We're done now. I'll turn on the mustache. Oh, there you go. Please. Oh, my God, this is fucking mad. So this is a first. We've listened to a lot of shitty podcasts. And this is the first time someone got the hiccups while doing a podcast. It's not like somebody else started talking. They're just like, oh, wow, you got the hiccups.
Starting point is 00:03:45 Yep. Uh-huh. Yeah. Okay. Well, we turned the mustache on. It's fucking... The quality is horrible. They don't have anything to say. Uh, yeah, it was... So there's three hosts. There's three hosts. Nathan, Bauer, and the Colonel. And I think Bauer's the guy who's kind of controlling it. Does that sound right? Yeah, that's what it's on. Because his voice is so much louder than the other two guys. When he's talking, you can tell. Other than that, there's really nothing that separates these three assets. They talk about the same nonsense. They're all...
Starting point is 00:04:22 talk about the same nonsense, they're all, the opposite of compelling, in the way that they communicate, this information. Well, it's not really compelling information. No, it's not. I mean, it's not. Who knew that you could talk for 40 something minutes about fucking model trains? I just never thought.
Starting point is 00:04:40 You can't, there's a ton of dead air, and a ton of times where they're like, right well, what else you want to talk about You know if this were a conversation if you let's say Kevin Alternate universe you're really into model trains and let's say that these guys are your buddies This would still be a boring conversation You know what I mean like this isn't even a compelling conversation between these three guys, let alone a show that they should upload and put up the internet.
Starting point is 00:05:08 No, that's extremely true. Yeah. There was so many times during listening to this that I kind of nodded off. Like, and then, yeah, it's you. It happened before. I mean, it definitely happened in the, you know, 57 episodes or whatever we've had prior,
Starting point is 00:05:24 but yeah, holy shit. This was so awesome. I mean, it definitely has happened in the, you know, 57 episodes or whatever we've had prior, but, yeah, holy shit, this was so awesome. So I do want to play a clip that comes at the very end of the show, because I think it's going to set up nicely all the other clips that I have of it. And track 18, this is where they get a little boastful. See, it's funny because when I go to the meeting, like I'm the outcast, like, yours is over-trained. Who the hell is listening to that? And then Michael Read down the list is like Don railing is the most listen to podcast Like what now bitch we haven't done a few three months
Starting point is 00:06:15 All right, I don't know if you could hear that over the ridiculous porn music, but For some reason 70s porn music comes out at the end as if they don't have enough Audio issues they got a cram in some fucking track, but for some reason 70s porn music comes out at the end, as if they don't have enough audio issues. They got to cram in some fucking track. But what he this guy was referring to was there on this network South Side or Studios. And apparently, South Side or Studios has meetings where all the podcasters get together.
Starting point is 00:06:40 And this podcast, and this is going back to 2011, 2012. This podcast had the most downloads and this guy is braggadocious about that. Hey, look at us. We're going to show about trains. Everyone's listening to it. They later say, like right after that clip, that they were getting 30 views a week. Did you hear that? I missed that part. Oh, I got. So I don't know, I don't think this podcast network is in operation anymore. I went to their website and clicked on podcast, which is in the main navigation. And the page says, no results found. So I'm guessing this 30 views a week was not all that lucrative. So what do they if they're a podcast? Not working later and have any podcasts.
Starting point is 00:07:27 Like what are they? I think they're just out of business, but they still have their website up for something. I don't know what I don't know what the fuck it is. You think we can put WATP? I think we could be the most listened to show. I'm outside the studio's network for sure. We have to go to their means. So yeah, I thought that was really funny and then
Starting point is 00:07:49 Right after that so they have the music going and they're they're winding down Did you listen to the very end of the show Kevin? Did you make it all the one? No? I did not make it all the way to the end. No, I had a feeling you wouldn't so you're gonna get a kick out of this This is the actual ending of their show, PlayTrack Night Date. Yeah, thanks for listening. We'll get one out of these sooner or later. Just snow, starting to fall. Well, here it's raining.
Starting point is 00:08:15 Is it snowing up there? No, I think it's raining outside. I haven't checked, but... All right, Ray. Supposedly you're supposed to get rained tonight, I think it's understeamed tomorrow. Epic sale. Both supposedly are supposed to get rained tonight Tomorrow That's a fail The music that ends and these assholes are talking about the weather for some reason
Starting point is 00:08:33 No one knows where any of these people are who would give a shit if their stunderstorms are raider snow It's And then it fades out like an old school LP And then it fades out like an old-school LP That's the lead out weather talk ends Like you listen to the fucking white album Eight famous by the Chicago Transit 1970 what they've done here is Oh my that's
Starting point is 00:09:03 The music I believe is from a planet the Gapes. It's a, a known, a normal movie. Yeah, there's been 18 sequels. And yeah, so you should check out Planet of the Gapes. It's all about, well, it's all about anal, I think, and pro-latched anuses, but I digress. It turns out, at the end of the anal scene, they're actually on Earth all along. Yeah, you blew it out. You blew of the anal scene they're actually on earth all along. Yeah you you blew it out you blew
Starting point is 00:09:27 off the asshole you're maniacs yeah it was at your child nested in depression you're maniacs it's early so there's a lot about trains that I didn't know anything about because you know I'm a normal person They do a lot of first when they start to show out it's all about what Is going on with hangouts because they're using Google hangouts and They're impressed by the mustache feature. So they throw some jokes in here, I got a couple clips there. So you can add a mustache as a button and then it all uses facial recognition to paste
Starting point is 00:10:19 a mustache on your face and it'll follow you on the screen. So we've been doing that for the last hour. So they even do fucking moustaches for an hour. Yeah these guys are wacky Kevin watch out. What are they after that? They talk about moaning the camera and see if they can put a moustache on their butt. Did you hear that part? I don't know if I caught that part. I might have been. their butt. Did you hear that part? I don't know if I caught that part. I might have been that. So these guys are, these guys are some crazy dudes playing with model trains and putting moustaches on hangout. Here's another one I just called nerds with hangouts. I'm sure it's another stupid joke. All right. What are you doing? Trying to print screen made? You know,
Starting point is 00:11:04 you know you can just click down my picture and I'll automatically hope that it leaves that one up to it. Right here, that's it. Hang on, let me try a different one. So there's trying different features of like they've never used Google Hangouts, obviously. Well, couldn't they, if they've been playing with MUSTA just for an hour, couldn't all of this have been occurring before they hit record on their podcast? Well, because no one's watching the video that they're all enthralled with. I think that, you know, they were worried about missing the
Starting point is 00:11:34 comedy gold. That was right. Experiencing mustaches. Come on, I think that the next time we do WATP, we should start the show with me going, all right, I uploaded all of my clips to drive this time. I ran out of space on Dropbox. Did you get the link? I said it's your outlook.
Starting point is 00:11:53 Maybe that's how we should start our show. That'd be really fascinating for me. It would be, but as long as it has... Do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do The planet of the game, Steve. Yeah. Let's make sure to download that. Well, speaking of the Google Hangouts thing, I thought this was kind of funny. This is right from the very beginning. He endorses Google Hangouts. They're like, fuck Skype, man.
Starting point is 00:12:15 You got to pay for that. And we like free stuff. We're using Google Hangouts. And I thought this was funny because when you're endorsing technology, you'd want it to also be working at the same time. We're using Google Plus and we're using the Hangout feature, which allows you to have a 10 people video chat at a time. And we're enjoying ourselves because Skype can't do that.
Starting point is 00:12:40 They can open two unless you pay tons of money, which is bullsh. I don't know free stuff. So Kevin I just got the microphone and I ordered off a Amazon. It's really nice. Just sit like this. And meanwhile we have problems with Skype time but. Fox, I hate it. But we've tried Google Hangouts and it was a Trojus as well. So I don't know if the technology has gotten any better. I probably has since 2011 when they actually did this fucking show, but uh, that's true.
Starting point is 00:13:15 That's true. Anyway, So I was playing with my trink- All right, we're gonna,'re going to stop reviewing podcasts. We're just going to try to recreate them. Hey, you know, this guy's serious. There's a mustache on here. There's a mustache here. You right click the mustache. You can change the color. Yeah. Do you try to write?
Starting point is 00:13:44 I'm just trying to figure it out again. I can't get a mustache again. So I have a bunch of clips and as you said, there were times when I kind of checked out because the conversation is so boring that it's really difficult to follow what they're talking about but every now and then I would I would perk up and hear something That was just atrocious I have a track on here track 9. It's called holy shit. This is exhausting Yeah You figured out where you're going to put your waterfall yet.
Starting point is 00:14:26 That sure yet still debating on that. I kind of want to probably like to put in a army outpost at some point. I'm not sure where I want to put that. I've got the whole, uh, hey, my friends model power. I think it's model power. I've got a whole, uh, Hey, man, if it's model power, I think it's model power. I've got a cool army train set. So what we're talking about now? Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha accessories they've recently purchased. Oh yeah, I bought a few buildings the other day, which in and of itself is boring as shit. Yeah, but that conversation was about this guy speculating
Starting point is 00:15:10 I think he might purchase for his model train set in the future. Like it's fucking mind blowing. There's a time with one of the guys is like yeah, I bought a warehouse. They're like, oh yeah, that's that's really cool. Like the most boring shitty fucking building you can imagine is cool to them. I have an example of that. They talk about, I don't know whose model set this is, but they talk about the scenery. Play track 14. It wasn't the scenery. It's like driving through the desert. Yeah, it was very blocked, but I mean, yeah, he had a mountain and a bridge and there was some vlogging, I think. Kevin, you live at the desert? Is that an exciting scenery? Yeah, I mean, one
Starting point is 00:16:03 that I definitely would want to recreate in miniature form It's like some sand and there's a mountain. I like that there's a bridge and some log A bridge over what is the fucking desert anyway? there I love the choice of buildings like there's a warehouse. I think it'd be really funny if they had like a miniature KFC that has now be closed and it opened up as a Chinese restaurant. Yeah, it's got the awkward signage. It doesn't fit out the odd sheet. It used to be a pizza hut, but now it's a the round? They've hidden the roof brown. No, it's uh, yeah. See, now that's actually interesting. I can, this, this I can talk about.
Starting point is 00:16:49 Let me see what, what else I picked out here. Oh, dumb jokes are plenty. Uh, I would get as if this one is not enough. Well, it gets bigger when I get closer. As if she said. They're just cracking themselves up with that's what she said jokes. So that's what she said joke. I love that clip because that kid and I'm guessing he's seven. That kid was so excited to tell that joke. He couldn't get it out fast enough, and he was already cracking himself up before he
Starting point is 00:17:26 even got to the word sad. You want to hear me? You want to hear me? Yeah, he was so excited about this. Well, it gets bigger when I get closer. That's what she said. That's what she said. I can't go against you guys here.
Starting point is 00:17:44 Fucking idiot. Fuck you. Fuck you nerd. I just was never, I never knew anything about this, this whole scene, if you will, of model trains. So apparently it sounds like you just, it's really just miniature building. So like you're building at whatever scenery with old warehouses and whatever the fuck you want. So it's not really, it's about the trains, but I don't know, I don't get it.
Starting point is 00:18:13 It does, it's very strange to me, but. Well, the only person I know who plays with model trains, I don't know a lot of people, is Reverend Lovejoy. And Reverend Lovejoy, it seems like a sad hobby to have. Yeah. I have a clip on here that's Lovejoy playing with his train and this is what I think of when I think of someone playing with their their model train set. Potential nacho scale passengers. The dining car is closed. The rear is still available. But the cost is now $6.50. the the the the the
Starting point is 00:18:50 the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the to be waterproof, so the tears do not ruin it. Hey, what's their model trains? Lots of tears making artificial lakes on the right scenery. I didn't know you could put a pond in.
Starting point is 00:19:12 No, I just really lonely. Thanks for coming over, man. The only thing I remember about model trains is the sopranos. Like the Baudi. Remember you had the fucking model train hobby there at the end? The only thing I remember about model trains is the sopranos like the Remember you had the fucking model train hobby there at the end He was wearing the fucking whatever and again they used that to show what a pathetic loser he was Yeah, exactly. I mean, it's kind of it was like look at this guy's got a lot of shit going on I'm like, no, he's playing with model trains in his basement. Yeah, I'm not good sign He's close to death.
Starting point is 00:19:46 They're going to kill him off soon. That's how you know. I have a clip on here that I call drying up vaginas from coast to coast. These are signs that if a woman goes into your house and sees this stuff, it's not going to end well. Play track eight. Because otherwise right now, since you guys both from the other side, it basically comes out six foot from the end and basically touches the food time that's down here. Oh, yeah. So I kind of need to be rolled away. So it stays out of the way.
Starting point is 00:20:20 So he's got a model train set and a food time. These are not good times. This is, uh, yeah. These are not good times. This is, yeah, these are not going well. This is something like the first, the first page of his suicide note. Make sure you roll away the, uh, the train center. It'll hit the, uh, food time. Uh, make sure my mom knows I'm down here. It's going gonna start to smell soon. I was watching the new Nor Mc Donald stand. I'm especially if you've seen that. I have not seen it yet. No.
Starting point is 00:20:52 So funny, he's talking about the rope store is always right next to the Rikki Ladder store. Funny how that works. Ha ha. Ha ha ha. All right, I have a fun little joke on here because these guys are hilarious. Trek 13. So, Bauer, would you like to talk about the Gustav Open House for Black Friday?
Starting point is 00:21:19 Sure. Is that for be America Friday? Ah, ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha running the entire time. At least that way it would have sounded like, I don't know, planning to the gapes was playing in the background, you know, like that would have been a little bit cooler. I think you should put that for our show in post. Let's just put that music running the whole time. In fact, let's have you singing that music on a loop running the whole time in the background. That one. boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop It works. That works. That's close. All right, I have a couple tracks down here that I'd like to get to. There's one on here. Track number 10. It's called Boring Guy talks about boring shit. I've got like a web of one by two's and yeah, the used employee would. I haven't screwed down the plywood yet? I want to screw it up from the bottom
Starting point is 00:22:49 I was reading monitor editor and the screwdriver plywood down you want to do it up from the bottom that way Would you move you don't have to take through phone to find out your screws? Oh my! Hold the top off That's fascinating. Please go on. Yeah, just these are the parts that I found myself really fucking nodding off like oh, yeah, This is the flyover country of this podcast It'll find like the Midwest just nothing for miles and miles This is when you're reading that Tom Clancy novel you got in the
Starting point is 00:23:25 fucking bookstore at the airport. Right. Right. You're on chapter three and you're just thinking like should I have rented a Netflix movie before I get out of here? Yeah. This book isn't very good. I mean it's never really believable. Well I can I can try to up to up the ante here. I have a track, track 12 called World's Most Boring Conversation. And this was close to being the clip that sums up the show for me. So if you hadn't heard anything else,
Starting point is 00:23:55 this would be a really good representation of what we had to listen to. Good. I think that'll work, but yeah, if you wanna get rid of it, I'll try it. Yeah, you can take some of this. Very container for us, okay? Okay.
Starting point is 00:24:11 I can loose a little slidding tupperware. Maybe get a little bit container here. I think I'll spill it very very very very very very. That's right. And it doesn't help, and it sounds like they have the window down in their car as they're going 55 miles per hour. What is that noise? It's like a swooshing sound happening the whole time. It sounds like they got a fan running or something.
Starting point is 00:24:35 Yeah, that might be it. I don't know what's going on, but there's. It's this sound of my fan for my giant home built computer system that's running many fans on the CPU processor unit, which is what a CPU stands for. I just followed that out. It's a CPU, it's a central processing unit, and I have four fans running on it. It's liquid cooled, so I can make sure I do all the renderings of my tracks then I'm about to build in my mom's basement.
Starting point is 00:25:11 I have to make sure... Oh, that's what she said! Do-do-do, or I've certainly fucking say it every episode we have. Why? There's no reason that you need to hit record and write your conversation that isn't a show. It's not a show. There's nothing here. There's nothing here. It's a boring conversation between nerds.
Starting point is 00:25:44 Right. But not... I mean, listen, I lot of show, it's a boring conversation between nerds. Right. But not in there. I mean, listen, I use that word a lot. It's said, that's not nice. They're just dull people. They're dull. There's just nothing going on here. I mean, I don't even know if you were into model trains, if this would be interesting.
Starting point is 00:26:02 That's what I'm saying, because they're just talking about the shit that they're putting together for their model train set, which I know how these people are. They care about themselves, they don't care about anyone else. Why would you wanna hear about someone else's model train set? You just wanna talk about your model train set. Right, yeah, I would think. And that's kind of what they're doing. They're one up in each other,
Starting point is 00:26:19 they're like, oh, I got some new trees for mine. Well, all right, so I actually listened to episode 12, not a lot of it, but I had to check it out because the description is all three of us set down live with what turned out to be a crappy microphone. And this was the last episode they ever made, which is weird because they were very bright and delicious about how popular their show was just two episodes earlier that decided to pull the floor of it. But I thought this was interesting. Listen to the way the episode starts off. Now the show that we listen to episode 10 has at least porn music so you get the sense that there's a show or something.
Starting point is 00:26:58 But this is actually the way they started off episode 12. Play Track 20. All right, sounds good. So what do you want to start with first? You can just start random about your. Yay. What's your question? What do you want to do? I don't know. Comment or whatever you want to. Well, mine is. Damn, I am getting.
Starting point is 00:27:16 Damn, gotten. My team and then my free. So we literally joined them mid conversation, mid boring conversation. There's no setup, there's no introduction, there's nothing just why are we talking about you got you got a thing. Yeah, I don't even know how that's possible. If you Kevin, if you and I started the podcast tomorrow or did it the podcast with somebody else and had a totally different topic, what did you introduce what you're going to talk about or explain why you have a show, anything at the beginning?
Starting point is 00:27:55 Well, yeah, I mean, a normal human being that knows how a show works would do that. Yeah, yeah, right. This is It sounds like he's holding a flip phone against a microphone Like that's how they're like fuck Google hang out fuck Skype Pay for that. You know what just called me over my T AT&T line and we'll uh, no, no, it's not even AT&T It's T-Mobile. It's not even a T-Mobile And a flip phone in 2012. It's not good. It's consumer cellular. He borrowed his grandfather's phone. All right, so here's a track I have. Track five. A guy just makes a wacky voice. I think he's making fun of Bauer, but it's hard to tell.
Starting point is 00:28:43 The locomotive actually pulls pulls really really hard. Oh No, I'm Bauer You know what you guys like, oh no, I'm Bauer I'm Bauer, I got a warehouse for my ball What was that I got a vacant KFC I got a vacant KFC. I'm going to start doing that. Look at me. I'm coming. I'm car. Guess what? I'm going to like podcast. I think podcast terrible.
Starting point is 00:29:20 There's mocking each other. It's great. All right, let's track I have. So, on this one, one of the guys wives is like in the background or something. And this clip is called, Are the nerds or creeps? I'll take my top off of Jen shows us hers. Nice. Anywho. Yeah, one of them is married. A couple of them are married, I think, because there's a clip
Starting point is 00:29:51 that I'll play for you in a minute where they talk about how their wives were hanging out with each other. Another thing they picked up on is I think it's Bower, the main guy says, Anywho, a lot. Yeah. Yeah. That. Anywho. This is how, this is how fucking lazy I am. Yeah, yeah This is how this is how fucking lazy I am. I'm listening to it last night going through and clipping, you know pulling clips or whatever and Yeah, I hear him say any who a hundred fucking times that I'm thinking to myself Carl's gonna make a compilation of how many times this fucker says any who because I'm like at this point I'm whatever balls deep into the thing I'm like I'm not gonna go back and fucking pull all the glips now. I'll let Carl do it and then
Starting point is 00:30:32 It sounds like you didn't do it But oh, it's so funny say that because I started a track up with all the anyhoo's and then it was just him saying any who over and over And over again. I'm out of nowhere. I'm going to go with this. I'll just make a copy And then it was just him saying any who over and over again, I'm out of nowhere. I'm going with this. I'll just make a cup I don't know You know, what am I going to do put a beat to it? How many times are I going to make a stupid song? I'm going to make a stupid song. I'm going to make a stupid song. I'm going to make a stupid song. I'm going to make a stupid song. I'm going to make a stupid song. I'm going to make a stupid song. I'm going to make a stupid song. I'm going to make a stupid song. I'm going to make a stupid song. I'm going to make a stupid song. I'm going to make a stupid song. I'm going to make a stupid song. I'm going to make a stupid song. I'm going to make a stupid song. I'm going to make a stupid song. I'm going to make a stupid song. I'm going to make a times in that sentence. That's kind of like like that like any any who any who I want to get the declaration of independence the other day. I have another I have another any who on here but it's also because this guy professes he does not play with trains all day. Play track three.
Starting point is 00:31:27 Anywho. So, anyhow, so I've got jobs that allow us to sit around and do jack shit apparently and play with trains all day and get paid for it. Bauer, what do you like to play with? Why don't play with trains all day? It's sad. I play with my conical. It's a fun play.
Starting point is 00:31:44 Yeah, these are adults. I don't play with trades all day. I play with my mineral collection. Yeah, I do them a rock tumbler and all kinds of other things. I have so many hobbies. I have a track out here. Number 15. This is what I was referring to when they were talking about their wives And then oh my wife bought me some naked people What's that sort of my wife? Oh, yeah, it's like they were there together looking at nude people Because they're born out of their minds they're looking at nude people. Because they're bored out of their minds. BEEP.
Starting point is 00:32:25 Yeah. Yeah. You think these guys' wives are bored out of their minds? I would believe that that is true. These two poor women are hanging out in a model train store. I mean, could you imagine the conversations that go on? I'm like, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:32:39 I just, back when I was a little girl, I thought I'd be a princess. I thought I'd bury a prince and It's sweet me up my feet now look at me. I'm buying fucking men for his model train And the meantime I'm bringing my my fiance to Target to find the new Lego mini figures Yeah, I've got our train to like feed because they're blind bags, you know, so you don't know what's in them. Right. I haven't seen.
Starting point is 00:33:08 We covered this in the legal episode. Yeah. Oh, right, right. Yeah, so she's good at it. Yeah, I got her trained pretty good. Yeah. Oh, boy. I still think that's the most ridiculous racket.
Starting point is 00:33:19 I don't know how they get away with that. We're going to sell you something. You have no idea if you're already on it or not, or even if you want it. And people are still like, okay, I'm willing to take that risk. It's like scratch off of toys. Gosh, yeah. It's the you two album on your iPod of toys.
Starting point is 00:33:36 It really is. You don't really know if you want it, but. Right. Good stuff. All right, I just have a couple more tracks on here that we can play and then we can move on. I don't know. We're still having fun, right? Yeah, I mean, you know, it's just bad as every other show that we review pretty much. It might be worse. It might be worse. Yeah, well, it's got the poor music and that that saves it on some level They should have left the ball slap and ass sound effects that stuff though that would have been
Starting point is 00:34:12 You know, I mean I didn't even then you would add something here if you were hearing like Like that kind of shit Or like that ridiculous noise that that girls make when they're Going downtown Oh the fucking the duck noise It's grosses me out every time Fred Norris would play that yeah I have a track on here called these guys are pros play track 17 I have a track on here called these guys are pros play track 17
Starting point is 00:34:50 Did they have other stuff to you like that wood bundle reps Like for Yeah, for some you don't you're getting quiet. I don't know why phone. Asel, you're doing a podcast and he's like, oh yeah, well, I'm not even talking towards my microphone. So you probably can't hear me real well. Are you guys even, what are we doing here? How much do we waste with their lives? They can just put out shitty products and be proud of it.
Starting point is 00:35:20 I'll remind you that this was the number one downloaded show. That's a good point. 30 views a week. At the end of the show, when we're done here, I got to, I just remember that we got a review for WATP. I wanted to read that too. Thanks for reminding me. It's good. I have two more tracks out here. I don't remember what they are, but number four is called riveting train talk. And a couple that were named this too. Okay. Again, with me working, I actually expanded my layout, not only more cars, but also more track. Actually, I have more plenty more track.
Starting point is 00:36:12 I'm actually going to see if I can get some more. I changed my curves. My curves were 11 inch curves, 11 inch radius curves, and I changed them to 12 and a half. 4 inch. I might actually go to 14, just because the intermodal cars that I have run a little better on those and also you road railers that I have also run a little bit better on that. Time to click talking. I mean, this is getting into the minutia of who even knows what the fuck they're talking
Starting point is 00:36:43 about. You know, I, what I think a really good name for the show would have been besides Gone Railon. What's that? Uh, train wreck. I like it. Um, you know, it's funny. We, what's it that sleep with me podcast?
Starting point is 00:36:57 Yeah. That, so is more compelling than this. And that guy is trying to be non-sensical. He, he's like, on his show, he's like, you don't have to pay attention what I'm saying. I'm just making to be non-sensical. He's like on his show, he's like, you don't have to pay attention to what I'm saying. I'm just making up a nonsense story and yet it makes way more sense to me than anything these assholes are talking about. This might be my new way to go to sleep at night is gone railing. I've got a 10 inch curves. I might even put a 12 inch curves in there.
Starting point is 00:37:21 10 inch curves. I might even put a 12 inch curves in there. Yeah, okay, great. I mean, they were talking about how they're getting more cars. Yeah, I'm gonna add a few more cars, but I'm gonna probably have to get some more track too, if I get more cars. Like, what are we doing here? Who would possibly give us yet?
Starting point is 00:37:42 And then even Google Hangouts is born out of its mind. Play track 11. I'm building a Barbie house for Sarah. She wanted to do more of his walkies. Yeah. You're a Barbie's, you're a. Anyone else just get in a way to check. I had one a while ago.
Starting point is 00:38:07 So Google Hangouts, like you're still there. I forgot. It's just get the transmission going. There's nothing going on here. We should shut this one down. Yeah, there's like the Netflix like are you there still? Are you still watching this show? Holy shit. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:38:23 That's not that. That's pretty funny. Uh, yeah, there's a lot of weird topics. Uh, that's one thing I've discovered doing this show, doing WATPs, that there's so many weird things out there that people are into and that they feel compelled to... Like I'm sure they were, they were all sitting around and they were like, you know what, there's not many model train podcasts, why don't we do that?
Starting point is 00:38:52 And the guys like, that I think that would be perfect. You know what we could call it, gone railing, which is funny because that's, I wish they were a railing, I wish they were completely hoping I wish they were completely hopped up on coke because then this would have been you know very entertaining to hear them talk right yeah so I just I got I agree I said they're doing sedatives there there couldn't be slower or more boring the less it
Starting point is 00:39:19 to they're coming down from railing Yeah. Yeah, I don't know What the fuck this was about, but it you know what if you're into change and you want to hear something that's years old now Go for it. You know, this is it's got porn music Kevin come on. I can't recommend this to anyone to listen to this is garbage This is boring whether you like trains or not, it makes zero sense that this would be a show. Audio quality sucks. These people suck. Everything about this is terrible. I'm going to probably put another track in and it's gonna go around a turn. I'm thinking about maybe having the train go left behind the warehouse and I'm also gonna add
Starting point is 00:40:11 some naked people and a tree. Nailed it. Well, Kevin, this has been a lot of fun and I have good news for you. Oh, next week Oh next week next week We're gonna do this again really You know what that sound means it means that we're gonna play a clip From the podcast we'll be reviewing next week. We like to put a teaser clip on
Starting point is 00:40:52 So that the people listening to this show are thinking man Maybe I should subscribe to this because God railing was compiling this next one's gonna be even better And I believe it will be Kevin. Let's play next week's teaser. Now I have a question about the timing of those screams. So why is it that that's happening now and it didn't happen earlier? You know, was it just like the children's break was over and now it's time to go back to work? Yeah, I actually have an answer. I have an answer on this one.
Starting point is 00:41:21 You know how you regularly have like they have laugh tracks on TV shows. I think there's a temple of like the temple of doom pipes in like a weep track and they're just playing that. I think it's just sort of it's sort of like the ambiance of the temple of doom lines. Temple of Doom was flayed before a live studio audience. Temple of Doom was flayed before a live studio audience That's right Kevin It's the Indiana Jones Minute podcast All right, this is Temple of Doom Minute 70 every day is Children's Day from May 12th
Starting point is 00:42:03 2017. That's this past Friday this is a currently happening podcast, and it has the exact same format as that one that we did that was called As If, which was a minute-by-minute, clueless podcast, breaking out descriptions of what happens 60 seconds at a time. This is doing the exact same thing. But this time it's with Indiana Jones, they've already done Rage of the Lost Ark, and now we're on Temple of Doom,
Starting point is 00:42:34 and they proclaim that they will be doing all the Indiana Jones movies. Unfortunately, Crystal Skull, they haven't gotten to that. Yeah, they're also definitely would be reviewing something from that. What a fucking piece of garbage that movie is. Yeah, you know, in Temple of Doom, I don't think is the weakest, I think, of the three good ones. Sure. Sure. I mean, it's not, it's kind of off the beaten path. It's really, it's no Nazis in it. You know what I mean? There's... Well, and also you get this guy, you need a Jones who's basically a superhero. It's a really have to have no Nazis in it. You know what I mean? There's well And also you got this guy you need a challenge is basically a superhero and he's got this like 10-year-old kid Driving him around why why would that be the case? What what does he need to break child labor laws for?
Starting point is 00:43:18 I'm sure he could hire an assistant that kid was a gooney, you know, I mean, so yeah that goes true It's true and goonie. You know, I mean, so yeah, that goes true. It's true. And goonies never say die. But um, yeah, I don't know. I feel like Kali Ma and all that shit from that movie was just a little little too much. So Kevin, this is this is an episode. There's about five or six hosts on this show. They're breaking down 60 seconds worth of a movie. We talked about this. Now, this episode is 32 minutes long talking about 60 seconds of a movie. When we were doing the ASIF podcast, those were about 20 minutes and five of them were plugs of other podcasts for some reason. So that was ridiculous because how can you talk about 60 seconds of a movie for that long?
Starting point is 00:44:04 So I'm just curious as to what they could possibly be talking about. I've only listened to the first five minutes or so Yeah, it should be interesting To hear exactly what minute it sounds like the minute that they're listening to is in the slave caverns or whatever the fucking temple ado Right, I haven't seen this movie in so long. I don't remember it that well Yeah, it's Don't watch it. I do remember this part. Oh you drink blood you not wake up from nightmare That that I remember
Starting point is 00:44:38 Yeah, there's there's some there's some bad acting The little Indian kid. They're like could you just say this line George Lucas is fucking there ringing his hands He doesn't even know English. He's just saying it phonetically. Yeah You drink blood you not wake up from nightmare All right, Kevin. Let's talk about this our latest review, I believe you're referring to the one that's from Eddie's Pig Eddie on May 8th, 2017. Yes, that is not me. Okay, cool. One of the things that we struggle with on WATP
Starting point is 00:45:17 is the fact that we're jerks making fun of people who are bad at podcasting. And inherently, we're gonna hurt people's feelings with that format. Yeah, the problem is is that when people get their feelings hurt, they wanna lash out, they wanna fight back. We love it when people talk about our reviews on their show, we encourage that.
Starting point is 00:45:37 The more we can debate each other on show quality, I think the better it is for all podcasts. What's not good is when people just go on and bash us on iTunes, because then it takes our rating down and people don't check out the show because they figure that it's not good. Anyway, this guy writes unemployed shock jocks question mark
Starting point is 00:45:58 and his review is, it's not good. Not good to listen to, not good to find other things to listen to, not so bad it's good,'s not good. Not good to listen to. Not good to find other things to listen to. Not so bad, it's good. Just not good. David, what do you think he's trying to say? He's trying to say our show's not good. I'm pretty I'm trying to read between the lines here. What was he trying to get at? He's beating around the bush a little bit there, but I think he's saying, yeah, that that doesn't think it's good.
Starting point is 00:46:32 I wasn't sure. I wasn't aware that people were listening to our show to find other things to listen to. Right, right. I know that that is interesting. If you listen to our show because you want to see if Gone Rail is worth downloading or not, yeah, it's probably not the best way to discover new new podcasts. What's this this one here? Who are these podcasts? And they have a garbage can as the logo? Oh, they must they must really have some good takes on these. I can really find out some new things. Some new podcasts. So people, if you listen to our show and you even remotely enjoy it give us five stars on iTunes We're up to 37 ratings 37 people have rated the show and
Starting point is 00:47:14 The majority of them host podcasts that we didn't like very much So we'd like to counterbalance that as much as possible The way I always find that out is whoever wrote the review if you click on it. It'll say no other reviews Maybe that there is so pissed off that they had a fucking make their first review Yeah, that's always fun. It's like when you get the the tweet from the egg who has you know zero You know the stick for you to Twitter account just to tell us we saw it the tweet from the egg who has zero hours. You know, this is like for you to the Twitter account just to tell us we saw it.
Starting point is 00:47:47 Fuck. Yeah. Well, it's always good. Yeah, I wouldn't say that we had fun this week, but it was a show. That was a rough one. Kevin, you know what podcast I've actually been listening to lately is the Chip Chipperson show.
Starting point is 00:48:07 Did you check that out? No, I didn't realize that there was a podcast for it. All right, so it's on Bob Kelly's network. And the first episode is terrible. It's really unlistenable. He does a chip interviews a Trump impersonator and it's just dumb But after that it's chip talking to these random people like this this dog walker and Random people who have written books and aren't really celebrities who aren't in on the joke that chip is a character And Anthony Cumi is on a lot of these and Sam Roberts. It's very funny. Oh, I got to check this out. I've actually been laughing out loud at some of the episodes.
Starting point is 00:48:51 You've been bawling? Wow. And you're going to listen to it and think I'm crazy. You have to really understand the Chip character and how that character is evolved over the years to appreciate it at the level that I do, but I gotta tell you, I think it's funny. It's a fucking garbage. It's like garbage. It's like my pack up. That's not funny. Anyway, so, chip percent, I believe it was number one on iTunes a week or two ago, which
Starting point is 00:49:24 is crazy, because people are gonna Check that out. Oh, it's one of the highest downloaded podcasts and they're gonna assume that what the fuck kind of garbage is this? Yeah, yeah, if you don't do the context. Yeah, that's fun. I'm gonna check this shit out. It's worth checking out. I actually debated whether we should review it, but that would get very meta because you'd hear like a guy telling stupid joke that's not funny and then I'll talk about how it's not funny, but it is. Yeah, so it doesn't. Right. Yeah. Sounds. Oh boy. And we're gonna do it again next week when we just find my the thing that I say at the end of our shows I forgot to put it in Because it might be episode we find out what's it for all who are these podcasts sleep well every pony And now to show these clothes my cow You know who are these podcasts? I don't know. I don't get it.
Starting point is 00:51:10 Makes no sense.
