On a rainy Sunday in November 1993, a man discovers the body of a woman on the side of a service road next to Interstate 10 in Mobile, Alabama. She's face down in the grass, nude, and decapitated. The police identify her as Maria Martinez, but days later, when her body is retrieved by her family, she leaves under a different name, Renee Bergeron.
