What's up friends welcome back to the Will That's Good podcast.
Hope you're having a great week but per usual it is about to get so much better.
Don't know why I did it like that but it felt right today.
Today I guess I'm just feeling at home because I have my bro Bobby, other known as Will,
and I have my family, friend and family.
I'm in a weird mood, okay?
It's only gonna get better from here, don't worry.
Reeves and Lydia, some of y'all's favorite
podcast guests from the past.
I won't make y'all talk about what y'all talked about last time.
New subject.
Our typical subject.
It's a new day.
We're shifting.
If you haven't caught that podcast though, it's all about sex.
So go check that one out.
That was a good one.
We're not talking about that today though.
We are talking about all kinds of stuff.
We don't even know what could come
from the next 45 minutes of our life,
but I feel like it's gonna be really good
because we have a lot of good stuff
that we've been working on together.
First of all, these people, along with a few others,
make up Elo Worship, which is so special to us.
How long have we been doing Elo Worship?
I know we tried to start Elo worship
like a little bit before this all came together,
but how long has it been now
since like this crew has been going?
2021?
Yeah.
I wasn't even a part of it.
Four years.
Four years.
You started 2021.
You and Kaylee.
You, Kaylee, and Layla.
Then Layla came in 2022.
That was shortly after.
Oh.
Maybe 2022.
It was 2022. Maybe 2021. And after. Maybe 2022. It was 2022.
Maybe 2021.
And then you also 2022.
I also 2022.
But a little bit later.
A little bit later because I just hopped on to conference.
But that's yeah.
And then I was 2023.
And you were the funny surprise.
Just share how you got involved with the L.O.R Worship because it's kind of funny. Well, Steph called me and I was at like a camp,
like a sports camp for my job.
And she was like, how would you,
because I was like, hey, let me know
how I can help with conference,
because obviously I've been involved
and wanting to serve with LO for a long time.
And then with Reeves with LO Worship,
and I've just been involved.
I've been a part for a while.
And so I was like, just let me know
how I can serve at conference.
And she called me and she was like,
I have a really cool job opportunity for you at conference.
And I was like, okay, like what is it?
Am I hosting?
Like what's gonna happen?
She was like, how would you feel about being on stage
with Ella Worship and leading?
And I was like, great, let's do it.
And then I did that.
And then, which I guess that was a little bit after,
because right before that phone call though,
I had gone to Nashville with them
when they were recording for, which album was that?
Holy in My Heart.
Holy in My Heart, yeah.
For Holy in My Heart.
And in Nashville, I had just gone
because I wanted to just be and like see
everything that was going on.
And in the studio, Mark, he was like, hey,
why don't you hop in and do some background on this,
do some vocals.
And so the phone call was two weeks after that.
And then you also hopped in the photo shoot.
And I hopped in the photo shoot.
We didn't need more people to make
it look like it was a thing.
I hopped in the photo shoot.
And then I did conference that year.
And then we never really had just a full conversation about it.
It just kind of happened.
It just happened so naturally.
I was like, just here we are.
And now it's just crazy because now you're leading a lot of the songs
and are fully in.
I can't even imagine you not being in it.
But it's so cool when I think about that because we started thinking
about LA Worship like, I guess, six, seven years ago,
and just had all these dreams for it,
but didn't know who the people were.
And I was living in Nashville, all of us were scattered,
and I was just trying to make this happen
in my own strength, and I feel like this is a good lesson
for everyone, because when you feel like you have something
that God put on your heart, it can be so tempting to just be like,
okay, well, if God put it on my heart,
it has to be now.
Like, figure it out.
Like, how do I figure it out?
But there was so much of that
that was kind of like striving in my own strength
of like trying to figure it out.
And in doing that, I rushed the process a lot
and it wasn't working.
And it was like discouraging and people would come and go.
And I was like, oh, but God, you put this on my heart.
And some things God puts on your heart for now,
and some things God puts on your heart.
And it's like, hey, just pray into this, you know?
Like wait and see what I'm gonna do.
And the way that it happened so naturally,
like you said, it wasn't even a big conversation.
It just happened naturally.
Like that's how I feel like it should feel
whenever it's truly a God thing a lot of times.
It just kind of, not that you don't have to work towards it,
you definitely have to work towards it,
but there's a lot more ease to it than the striving
that it takes to do something in your own strength.
When I look at LO Worship Now and it's like Reeves,
who we've literally known each other since we were babies,
you, who have been like, has been like one of my best friends
reasons why, Will, my brother, Leila, our cousin,
Kaylee, we played softball together and we were nine.
Like it's just crazy what God has done.
It was like, oh wait, y'all are,
we're all right in front of each other.
And it wasn't just an answer to my prayers
instead of y'all's prayers and like things
that God put in your heart.
So that's super cool.
And right now, so we've kind of been doing these show recaps
because obviously Duck Dynasty is out and about right now
and been super cool to kind of show different aspects
of our family.
And the last episode was about you going to Nashville
and writing a song.
So tell us a little bit about that experience.
Oh man, it was really fun. So it's, I'm trying to like,
give a good recap of like the entire story. So it's like, dad is trying to get us to move home
and he's also trying to get into all the stuff with Elo worship. And so he tells the team
that I'm writing a song
when I'm not, and that I'm gonna perform it
like in front of everybody, like at the worship night.
And then I get really mad and it's a whole exchange.
And then I'm like, okay, fine, I'll write a song.
And also it was good for me to actually start writing music
because everybody's kind of been pushing me to do it.
I'm just like, I don't know, I've never written anything. So it was good to like actually
step into that. And so yeah, we went to Nashville, hung out with Luke Bryan and Tyler Farr and
Luke gave me some really cool advice about actually writing. And then Tyler actually
assisted me and writing like the hook for the song that I was writing.
And it was a super cool experience.
That's so cool. Do you remember what Luke told you?
Oh gosh. He was just like...
He said, I mean, one of the keys to writing music is just to go out and live your life
and then write about that.
That is good.
And then I asked him about like the preparation
of writing a song and he said,
I don't know what your home situation's like,
like if we're in a house or apartments,
like we're in an apartment.
But he was like, just find a space in there
or find a space that makes you feel comfortable
and a peaceful spot and just sit and write.
And so I think that's a really cool, and a peaceful spot and just sit and write.
And so I think that's a really cool, I think that's a really cool way to integrate
like your quiet time with the Lord as well.
It's like once you're in your spot, you get to write,
but also you get to have your time with the Lord,
which also fuels your writing as well.
So I think that's pretty cool.
That's so true.
You know, I haven't written a song in a while. Like I used to jump in on all of y'all's rights and haven't really done that in a while. And the other day, when we were in Canada, it was like the first time we haven't been,
you know, with the kids in a while.
And I was sitting there and I was reading the Bible and I was journaling.
And then all of a sudden, I just started writing a song.
And it just, it was so fun.
And it was just like so refreshing to my soul.
But you're so right.
Like, when you get in that space and you just feel at home or you just feel like you're
in a place where you can just be yourself, you know, you're just in a place where you
can just be yourself, you know, you're just in a place where you can just be yourself,
you know, you're just in a place where you can just be yourself, you know, you're just
in a place where you can just be yourself, you know, you're just in a place where you
can just be yourself, you know, you're just in a place where you can just be yourself,
you know, you're just in a place where you can just be yourself, you know, you're just
in a place where you can just be yourself, you know, you're just in a place where you
can just be yourself, you know, you're just in a place where you can just be yourself,
you know, you're just in a place where you can just be yourself, you know, you're just
in a place where you can just be yourself, you know, you're just in a place where you
can just be yourself, you know, you're just in a place where you can just be yourself, you know, started writing a song and it was so fun and it was just so refreshing to my soul.
But you're so right, when you get in that space
and you just feel at home or you just feel at ease
and even if you're reading or having that quiet time
with the Lord, it's like you naturally just wanna worship.
You naturally just kinda wanna sing what you're,
I don't know, for me at least, what you're reading,
what you're walking through.
And song just sticks with you a little bit more sometimes
than like just the words on a paper.
Because if you read the word,
and this is what I love about a little worship so much,
like you read the word and you take the word
and you sing the word over yourself
and it becomes like truth over your life
and anthem over your life, which is so cool.
I wanna talk to you a little bit more about home.
So what, did you write it kind of about
what y'all are walking in
right now being away from home coming home that kind of thing? Yeah so it was
funny because it was the whole push of the family draw back home and it's what
Abby and I had been wrestling with for a while is like what's our next step? I
mean we love Dallas and we love McKinney and we love our jobs, but also it's to a point where like,
so what's the plan?
Because it's about to get pretty crazy
and we want to know like where our safety is going to be.
And I think that was the whole point of the song
is like where you're unsure where you're going,
you just got to rely on the Lord for that.
And so, I mean, a lot of people can interpret the song
in a lot of ways.
It doesn't, it's the main focus is about
where the Lord wants you to be,
but it can mean like, you know, with your family,
with your parents, with your friends.
And yeah, I just think it's wherever the Lord is,
that's where your home is.
Wherever He's calling you, that's where your home is.
Wherever He's calling you, that's where you're gonna go.
It doesn't have to be right now,
but that's eventually where you will be.
It's just home with the Lord.
That's good, I love that.
Man, that's good.
I feel like so many people who listen to this podcast
just in their 20s to 30s are trying to figure out that.
Like, do you go back home?
When do you go home? Do I leave?
Do I stay?
Where am I supposed to be?
What's the future look like?
All that kind of stuff.
Reeves, I know you had a time when you lived away from home
and then you moved back here.
Tell me about like what that process in your life
looks like when you knew it was like time to come home.
Y'all, if college is even kind of on your radar, whether it's for you or someone in
your fam, you gotta check out Liberty University.
It is a world-class Christian school in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, and they've
been training champions for Christ for over 50 years.
They've got over 700 degree programs with online and campus learning options, and there
are tons of scholarships and discounts
to help you get there.
I actually took some classes myself online,
and I loved how flexible and faith-centered it was.
It really actually taught me a lot
in just a very short period of time.
But seriously, you gotta check out Liberty for yourself.
You can actually try a one-day visit
with Experience LU or Tour LU,
or go big with College for a Weekend,
a three-day event where you get to tour the campus,
eat in the dining hall, go to classes and student events.
You really get to do all the things.
College for a Weekend is coming up September 18th
through 20th or November 6th through 8th.
And for all my homeschool families,
Liberty University Online Academy is such a game changer.
It is totally online, Christ-centered,
super flexible with certified teachers,
and support every step of the way.
My sister Bella did LUOA and totally thrived,
absolutely loved it, went on to college,
went on to get her masters.
She is crushing it as an LU student.
So like I said, I did classes online,
but I totally recommend you go in in person too
if you're able to, because it is absolutely beautiful. recommend you go in in person too if you're able to because it is absolutely
beautiful. My brother went there in person and it was so fun to visit him. So don't wait friends,
head over to liberty.edu slash Sadie to check out all the amazing programs Liberty has to offer and
plan your visit. And because you're a Boy That's Good podcast listener, you're actually going to
get your application fee waived. Hey-o, go to liberty.edu slash Sadie today
and step into all that God has for you.
Well, for me in that specific season,
it was a season that I was very lost.
So the time that I knew that I needed to make a change
was when I was really just at the end of myself.
And I was just like in a life that everything was about me and
yeah, I just I came to the end of myself struggling with a lot of addiction and
just a rough lifestyle and
yeah, the Lord like I know that the Lord met me in that moment and
Yeah, the Lord, I know that the Lord met me in that moment and it wasn't the clearest thing,
which kind of alludes to what you're getting at
with that song too.
It's like, I don't really know the answer,
but I know the first step.
And he's pushing me in a direction
and I've gotta meet him halfway.
And so he's showing me a direction,
I've gotta take the first step,
and then I'm just gonna figure it out and I gotta know that he's with me a direction, I've got to take the first step and then I'm just going to figure it out
and I got to know that he's with me in it.
And eventually I ended up getting baptized
and like really following Jesus after that.
But that was like the first, I guess, test, you know?
And when you came home,
it's kind of when you started playing guitar, right?
Yeah.
Yeah, just in that season of like kind of healing,
I just picked it up and really liked playing just random country stuff, whatever.
But yeah, I had some great mentors in my life really pushing me to jump in because my family
has a lot of music in it.
I just had not really dove though then I had a foundation.
That's so cool.
So obviously, Home was filmed, y'all doing it live,
which like, no pressure, right?
Not to mention, which we're gonna get into in a little bit,
that was like our first time as Ella Worship
to do a live album.
That's actually our first time to ever do a full album,
which I'm gonna get into later about Songs of the Anxious Heart, but this is a first full
album, first full live album, so we have an audience and everything. And it's like,
hey, while we're here, let's also sing your new single. Like, how did you feel
nervous? I mean, it felt like, I mean, I do worship every week.
So it was really lax in that sense.
But with the song, I was just like, oh my gosh, I could really tank this.
But I don't know, I just, once I stood up in front of that mic with everybody around
me, it was the exact same feeling that I would feel before going up and leading people in
worship.
I just like, just, Lord, you got it.
You take these nerves away.
And it's like, it's just like how it's ever been with just being up on a stage.
Just like, we're just going to chill.
We're going to have fun.
You looked like you were having fun.
It was fun.
Yeah, it was really cool.
Yeah, it was cool.
It was really cool.
And it was really sweet because Dad was legit crying.
No, I, yeah.
It was going to make me cry.
We were all crying.
That whole night was just so filled with emotions.
It was so beautiful.
But yeah, when you started singing,
Dad started recording, and then he eloped over,
and he's recording you, and he's crying.
And I'm like, oh my gosh.
I'm crying, Mom's crying.
He's so proud of you, you know?
And I think because, yeah, a lot of people for a long time
have been pushing you, and like, you should write,
you should do this, you should whatever.
And it's really cool to see you like so confident
and trusting the Lord of like,
I know it's just me and McKinney,
I know it's just me leading worship,
like you have such an assurance.
And then it's also like, okay, but in the meantime,
I am gonna write, I'm gonna do things that push me out
inside of my comfort zone.
You wrote this beautiful song and now you're leading it
in front of a crowd, but you carried the posture.
Worship, it's also not just in front of a crowd,
it's in front of cameras and you know it's gonna be on
national television and streaming platforms.
That's no small thing to do.
And I feel like watching it your whole life,
just from dad's perspective, It's a really sweet moment.
Yeah, that's pretty cool. Super super cool.
So let's talk a little bit about the live album or maybe a lot because I'm super excited about this. It's not out yet.
It's not out yet.
Our first single is out which is so cool, but the whole album, all the collection of songs,
it's called Songs for the Anxious Heart.
And I think we all need that in our life.
Who doesn't have an anxious heart
on just living in the world?
I mean, yes, we can overcome that with the Lord
and we do that, but if you've never had an anxious heart
in your life, give us all the tips, you know?
I think everybody's had that.
And the full thing's gonna be out in September,
September 19th actually, which we're super excited about.
But why did y'all decide to call it
Songs of the Anxious Heart?
Do y'all even remember when that came up?
Well, I feel like it also kind of,
what you said at the beginning, even with LA Worship,
how you tried to, initially you tried to rush it, you know?
But then actually what it needed
was just time. Even this, I feel like this whole album just took time to come together
because I remember when y'all did have that right day and those are some of my favorite
songs ever from that day because they are just so like personal in the testimonial like
side of them.
That's the day we wrote Mirror.
It was Mirror, Space. I was about day we wrote Mirror. It was Mirror, Space.
It was Followers.
It was what they're.
Yeah, we wrote Mirror and I got in the truck and I just played Mirror
and she started bawling.
I was crying.
And that was like two and a half years ago, almost three years ago.
I think that those were even written. Right.
Is that? Yeah.
I mean, it was at least two years ago.
Two years ago. Yeah least two years ago. It was 2023. Two years ago.
Oh, yeah, two years ago.
And I remember when I listened to them,
when we listened, that was a conversation then,
was like, this would be awesome to have a night
where we got together and had people come together.
And it was almost like a testimony night for people.
And we played these songs.
And so that was two years ago that that conversation started
and then it took all of that time.
But then, so that day some songs were written
and then over time a lot more of them were written.
And so it just like all over time
just became this beautiful project
of truly my favorite songs ever
because this album has administered to me so much.
I mean, so much.
Before we even did the live album,
it was truly ministering to my heart so much
and what I needed.
And so it was another one of those things
that just, in the Lord's perfect timing,
all of these beautiful songs that truly minister
to an anxious heart just came together.
And so it was almost like,
and like, of course this is what the title of,
because each of these songs in their own individual ways
minister to people, you know, exactly where they're at.
Yep.
Yeah.
Because we're all,
you can be walking through so many different things,
but they truly minister to each season,
like each moment, you know.
Yeah.
We're building like this catalog of songs
that kind of felt like they were just getting put
on the shelf and we didn't know where to put them.
And it's funny, cause like that, right, in 2023,
that was kind of, you had like this form of an idea
of these testimonial songs and everybody was like,
whoa, okay, that's going to be different.
We didn't rush it.
And so then like, we had this rough idea of like, maybe we do something like different. We didn't rush it. And so then we had this rough idea of maybe we do something
like that and we didn't rush it and we just let the Lord
continue to lead us.
We wrote the title track.
The first song on the album is called
Song for the Anxious Heart,
which is obviously the title of the album.
We wrote that with Matt and Matt was like,
this could be a concept.
And then it kind of morphed and we were like, oh.
So then it continued to hear the Lord leading us in that.
And then it was some time after conference,
we're like, what if we just stripped everything back
and just really honed in on this idea?
And yeah, it's just crazy.
Well, I think too, one thing that none of us
necessarily expected, because I remember that day when I came in and was like, hey, we should write to people's just crazy. I think, too, like one thing that none of us necessarily
expected, because I remember that day when I came in
and was like, hey, we should write to people's testimonies.
I didn't expect to write about my testimony.
And then all of a sudden we started to talk in the mirror.
And I was like, oh, shoot.
This is really vulnerable up in here.
And then it was like, whoa, like it administered to me so much.
Just getting to get out my personal testimony and write truth that was, one, like it administered to me so much, like just getting to get out my personal testimony
and like write truth that was one, gonna help me,
two, like hopefully help my daughters,
but then three, like help a lot of people
who get to listen to it.
And then the trajectory that that sent us on
was each of us kind of writing our,
it got personal, you know?
And I think that's why it like connects
with so many people though, because we're all human.
So we're going through the similar things.
But when we went to that depth of like sharing
in our true vulnerability, that's how it reaches people
in a special way.
Like space for you is like something you genuinely wrestle
with, like if I don't give space to God.
So it's like, how do I write a song about that?
And then Kaylee, who's not here today,
and this song isn't out yet,
but Kayleigh talks about some really hard stuff,
like her song, Remind Myself.
I mean, that came from a time in her life
and she shares a story,
and I really want you all to hear it from her,
but she had just lost her baby, you know,
and had a really tragic miscarriage
and just needed God to remind.
And I'm gonna remind myself that you're faithful
and this is who you are.
Some days feel like total chaos.
Diapers, snacks, nap time battles,
and that's exactly when I'm most thankful for Minnow.
It's the number one source of Christian content for kids.
And y'all, it is seriously helping
bring so many kids to Jesus.
And it helps you also with just a little bit
of entertainment for your kids that you feel safe about.
Honey and Haven love the bright colors, silly characters,
and I love that they're soaking up Bible truth
without even really realizing it.
From laugh and grow, Bible, to the Dead Sea Squirrels,
Minnow makes it easy for us to laugh, learn,
and talk about God together.
Plus, it sparks the sweetest questions
and conversations about Jesus,
and it's helping build a foundation of their faith
from the very beginning.
And I can trust every second of it
because it's completely ad-free.
So no more worrying about weird,
made-for-grown-ups pop-ups on the screen.
It's becoming part of our routine,
whether we're just winding down for a nap,
or just need a little break,
or even a long car ride Minnow has us covered.
They have so many cute shows that they keep coming out with.
There's this one, it's like SUNY the unicorn,
and my girls love it.
They even have like this thing at the end of the show
where you spot the difference in the pictures and stuff.
It's super interactive,
and both my girls
love watching that one, but there's so many that we love.
You just gotta go check it out for yourself.
Visit GoMino.com to start your free trial today.
Plus you can use the code WO to get your first month for free.
This is a web only exclusive offer,
so make sure you sign up on the GoMino.com website
and use the code WO to get your first month for free.
And so then the live recording day, website and use the code WO to get your first month for free.
And so then the live recording day and y'all will see this. I'm giving too much away, but it's so it was so beautiful because through that
whole thing and even word she put in the song, she ended up naming her baby.
She has now joy and she had joy up there and she's singing and testifying.
And I hear somebody crying behind me and I think it's Bella.
And I was going to turn around to like,
hold Bella's hand to be like, this is so amazing.
And I turned around and it was Jacob.
I've never seen Jacob cry.
It made me cry again, it was so sweet.
He was bawling.
And I turned around real quickly
because I didn't want him to feel embarrassed.
But like it was so raw and so real.
And a brother watching a sister
who watched the whole testimony
and now is watching her get to the good part.
You are a faithful God, that is who you are.
And everything Kayleigh shared that night was so beautiful.
And just getting to see Jacob see his sister sing that.
And then that song now is not just gonna be Kayleigh's
to hold, she's given it to the world. Now it's going to be a lot of people to hold as they walk through
their stories in life and the things that they go through. And the next day Jacob was like,
you know, being so funny. He was like, oh y'all, I know how to get everybody crying. I just gotta
cry and everybody gonna cry. Well, you got us like, yeah, well, you got us.
It was just, it was so real. So for people who like haven't been to a testimony night,
this is maybe a foreign concept because at the church,
it kind of, for me, what testimony nights looked like
reminded me a lot of Camp Shioka.
So most of us kind of experienced that.
Most people that listen to this podcast
might never have been
on a testimony night and you're like,
what does that look like?
Essentially how we grew up, there would be nights at camp.
It would always be like one night
and we'd be around campfire.
Tuesdays.
Tuesday testimony.
Tuesday prayer night.
There we go.
Because we love a good TNT.
We love to go like that.
So Tuesday nights it'd be campfire
and it would kind of be an open time
if anyone wanted to come up and share their story.
And a lot of times that would look like confession,
maybe things that they've never shared before.
Like, hey, I've been really struggling with this
and this is what my life has looked like
and this is what it's led it to.
But being at camp, I realized like, I want to give this to God because this is what my life has looked like, and this is what it's led it to. But being at camp, I realized like,
I wanna give this to God because this is something
I can't, you know, bear myself.
And then it kind of turns into the story of like,
this is where I've been,
but this is where I'm going in Christ.
And so I'm surrendered to the Lord.
And then it becomes a testimony because that's in your past
and God redeems that, you know?
We believe that once you are buried with Christ,
you are a new creation, the oldest gone, the newest come.
So it's like, this is how you walk out a testimony.
Churches have testimony nights, open mic nights.
Sometimes people kind of laugh about the open mic nights
because you never know where it's gonna go.
People get super straight up with their testimony,
which is great, it's beautiful.
Like confessor sins to one another, we were healed.
But it's a vulnerable thing. And this album is that. And that's why when you said we sins to one another, we were healed. But it's a vulnerable thing and this album is that.
And that's why when you said we wanted to strip it all back,
it's because when we think about testimony night,
we think about campfire, like it's raw, it's real.
It's normally not the thing you're going to do
necessarily at a huge conference with lights
and camera action.
It is a little bit more vulnerable and raw
and something you're gonna share with a friend
or maybe with in a safe kind of guarded space.
But I think what's beautiful about this
is it's sharing testimonies in a corporate way,
in a way that everyone relates
and I'm super excited for that.
Does anyone wanna speak to you a little bit
just their walk with anxiety
and what that's looked like for you?
Because we said this on the stage that night,
but we're like, all of us have kind of walked through
some season of that.
And so we're singing from a place of like understanding
what it feels like.
Lydia, do you have any testifying stories
with your walk with anxiety?
Yeah, I mean, I think I've talked about it on here before
a little bit, and I definitely, I think I've talked about it on here before a little bit and I definitely,
I used to really battle anxiety a lot more than I do now.
You know, I won't say that I never do now
because I think we all do still sometimes, you know?
But it used to just like rule my life
and like rule everything I did
and everything kind of came from a place of, you know,
thinking about the anxiety that was going on in my heart. And so that it just, when
you are walking just in anxiety, that's just kind of the reality of it is it's
just, that's your entire life is like ruled by the anxiety in your mind and
everything kind of comes from a like overthinking place, just a stressed out
place, you know, like why is my heart pounding kind of place from an overthinking place, just a stressed out place, you know,
why is my heart pounding kind of place. And I like laugh about it now. But it really was sad
because I would just be going somewhere. I remember like the Passion 2020. I remember walking,
which was when I really encountered the Lord for the first time in my life. And I remember walking
though that night Passion and I was with my friends and I was like, are y'all as nervous as me?
Is y'all's heart pounding? Are y'all like,
and they were like, no, we're excited.
We're ready for this. But I was so anxious.
Just to go.
Just to go, just to walk into the building.
And that was just one example,
but that was just my everyday life pretty much.
And so that was before I really truly met Jesus though.
And when I met Jesus,
He just kind of, He just started to take the place
of that anxiety in my heart and in my life.
And not, like I said, not to say that anxiety
just completely disappears or disappeared,
but He just started to take the place of that.
And I started to recognize it.
And I decided I didn't want that anxiety to rule my life anymore. I wanted Him to rule my life and Him to guide my life, you know.
And so I'm more, it was almost like before it was always a question of like, do y'all feel like this
too? Like, why do I feel like this? And it became like a recognizing that this is anxiety and this
is not from you, Jesus. And so I'm gonna recognize it and I'm going to,
I'm not gonna live in it.
I'm not gonna let it rule me.
I'm not gonna walk in it.
Which I know sounds a lot easier than it actually is,
of course, but it's possible.
And so I just started to recognize the anxieties in my life
and I started to recognize what was causing me
to be so anxious, like walking into crowds
or going places
where I might see people I don't wanna see
or whatever it was.
I started to recognize it and recognize
that that wasn't from the Lord.
And so I learned how to combat that,
which was just through prayer,
through taking a moment, stepping back
and through talking about it,
like speaking about it and not keeping it quiet,
not keeping it a secret.
And so just over time, I mean, I've started to just,
like, you know, when it starts to creep up,
I'm like, okay, this is what this is.
You know what to do.
It's not from you, Jesus, I'm gonna bring it to you.
I'm gonna pray, I'm gonna, you know, pray to you about this.
And then, I mean, truly songs like these songs
are so healing even in that, you know,
like worship songs that truly point you to Jesus.
And so more than just this specific album,
but this album for sure, you know,
just songs like these, even putting those on.
Like I remember during COVID specifically,
I was just, you know,
I had just given my life to the Lord at that time. So I was still, the anxiety was still there. But at nighttime, I would just, you know, I had just given my life to the Lord at that time.
So I was still, the anxiety was still there.
But at nighttime, I would just get really anxious
and I would just put on the blessing, you know,
that's on the blessing.
And I would literally just put it on shuffle,
like, or not shuffle, on repeat.
And I would just put it on my nightstand.
In the entire night, the blessing was just playing
in my room.
Like that was what I slept to every single night.
And then Reeves now, like sometimes if in our house,
like if there's anxiety or if there's like stress
or, you know, for either of us, I'll say, I'm like, you know,
I used to do this and I know that you don't like to sleep to music,
but it's really helpful.
And we've done that now sometimes in our marriage.
Like even recently, like there was a night that was there's just a lot of anxiety and just things that weren't from the Lord in our marriage, like even recently, like there was a night that was, there was just a lot of anxiety and just things
that weren't from the Lord in our house.
And I was like, why don't we like invite the Lord in?
And so we just put on a worship song
and put it on our dresser and we were just praying.
And I was like, cause you know, I don't want to live in it.
Yes.
You know, you don't have to live in it.
Take the actions to not let it rule your life, you know.
Yes.
You know that I'm always trying to check in my body,
making sure that I'm feeling the best
so that I can be the best in my day.

slash woe. That's so good because so many people do just live in it
and they don't think that there's another way.
You know, they don't think it's possible to not
because they stack up all their reasons for anxiety
and they go, well, see, I have all the legitimate reasons.
And it's like, no, there can be legitimate reasons
for you to be anxious and you can still rest in the Lord
and not be afraid.
Like you actually can overcome these things and you can.
And it's a day to day basis.
Like you said, it's not like you're perfect and you just never fear that.
That wouldn't even be human.
Like fear is a natural part of the human life and existence.
And I don't think that God says do not fear in a commanding way.
I think it's a loving way.
I think it's like, I know you're afraid.
I know it feels scary.
But you don't have to be afraid because I'm with you.
It's a promise that His presence is there.
And in His presence, there is no need to fear
because He literally destroys all need of fear.
Whatever was on your list of anxieties,
the presence of God says like, oh, that's okay, because
I got you.
You know?
It's so cool because as the songs were kind of rolling in, like you said, it was kind
of a collection over years of different songs.
And we kind of got to like the point of, okay, I think these are our songs.
We're about three weeks away from the live recording and I'm listening to it and I'm
like, I feel like we're missing one
and I don't know exactly what that's supposed to be
but I want it to be like the overcoming song.
Like I want it to be like the,
I'm coming out of it because of the Lord,
because of scripture, like this is my overcoming moment.
And as the Lord would have it, Reeves,
y'all go to Nashville and write Deliverance.
And which, what did it end up being called?
Song of Deliverance.
Song of Deliverance.
So good.
Oh my gosh, it's so good.
When they sent that through, I was like,
that's the song, you know?
And actually speaking of a song in a room
being like so powerful.
It's so powerful.
I mean, that was a song.
Everyone's hands are lifted.
Everyone's singing.
First time they ever heard it.
And one of the guys turned around and looked at me
and Christian, he goes, that's the one.
That's so funny, because that was
the one written three weeks ago.
So Reeves, speak a little bit to that song.
Yeah, that one's really, really cool, really special.
I like how everything in the album is very much stripped back,
but that one's where we just take it up a notch,
because it's like, in the moments that feel like the darkest,
the thing that you have,
like what do you have to know that he's there?
Well, the biggest thing in a lot of moments is you look back
and you see where he has been there. So that's what the song is talking about. It's like, is you look back and you see where he has been there. Yep.
So that's what the song is talking about. It's like when I look back and I see the hardest moments where the Lord has been with me,
Yeah.
there's no doubt that he's with me now.
Yeah.
So yeah, it's definitely like, I think it's like a turning point for sure.
And there's so many, like, and they all tie together.
They really do.
As we talk about leaning into the waves
that the Lord's gonna throw at you,
and it's like to strengthen you, it's not to hurt you.
And it's just like everything we're talking about.
It's like he says, take heart,
because I've overcome the world.
It's like when you're facing fear
and when you're facing anxiety,
like you need to use the weapons that I've given you.
And that's the whole point of the album.
If I was to sum it up,
every song we hope to be a weapon for you
in the darkest moments when you don't know what to do.
Like sometimes the easiest thing is to listen to something.
And the last two years, anxiety has been like insane for me.
And the night she kind of referenced earlier,
I like literally was laying down on my face
and like just under the craziest attack of anxiety.
And I didn't know what to do.
And she just laid her hand on me and started praying.
And it was like really close to leading up to this album.
And that's something I'm still, if not, I mean,
maybe not more than that night, but it has been like
the thing the enemy's throwing at me.
And leading up to the album, it was like the thing
he was trying to get me with.
And even since we recorded it, it's been rough. I'm
still like really battling anxiety in the season. And so the biggest thing for me is
like, as I've been struggling, even like two years ago, when I found a song that like helped
me, I've like played the heck out of it.. I just played it every day, on the way to work.
At the time I was working at Camp Chioco,
I could have earbuds in all day,
and I was just listening to these songs
that were kind of like weapons.
So this is my favorite thing that we've done so far.
Just creating these gifts that are weapons for people
in their darkest times.
It's great.
I feel like I'm so thankful you shared that,
the reality of how hard seasons of anxiety can be.
And of course, you're writing an album
called Sancho the Anxious Heart,
and you're getting attacked with anxiety.
That's not uncommon.
The enemy is crafty, but not super creative.
You know, it's like, I remember when I wrote Live Fearless,
and it was like, truly coming out of,
and still a little in,
like some of the toughest times of my anxiety.
And I think it's like, challenging your heart to be like,
do I really believe what I'm singing, you know?
And it's so cool that you can come to like,
yes, because these are the weapons that I battle with.
This is what gets me through it, you know?
And sometimes that gets me through it day by day.
Sometimes it's actually getting you through the battle
you're looking back on, you know?
And sometimes it's like, oh, I'm still very much so in it,
but I'm surviving it, you know, but I'm strong in it.
And I think that that is what this album is.
I remember the night of the recording,
telling y'all like,
do not feel an ounce of the need to perform this album.
Like you're not up there performing a song,
you're offering a gift to someone
in some of the toughest times of their life, you know?
And when you give a gift,
I was like, it's natural to feel giddy about the gift.
And there's some nerves and excitement of like,
ooh, how are they going to receive it?
But what a joy to give a gift like that, you know?
Will, what's anxiety kind of looks like in your life?
Oh, man.
I've never looked at myself as a very anxious person. But I am, my type is I'm a very non-confrontational person
and I'm always caring.
I usually never really care about myself in a moment.
I'm usually always caring for people,
which is a huge strength,
but also it's always me trying to keep things at peace.
Yeah.
I'm a peace keeper to the core.
You are the most classic Innegram Nine.
Yes, yes.
Literally, a nine wing eight.
I get competitive and confrontational when I need to,
but for the most part, I am very much a peacekeeper.
And I think it's my anxiety comes in when there's no peace.
It looks like I'm handling,
it looks like I'm not showing much,
but on the inside I feel like, oh my gosh,
if this doesn't get solved,
like everything's gonna go to the ground.
And so, yeah, I just, I rely on the Lord to remind me,
like, chill, just chill out, you know?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
But also I think my most favorite song in the entire album
is the one that I led, which was Pages.
Mm-hmm. I love Pages.
And- It's powerful. in the entire album is the one that I led, which is Pages. I love Pages. And...
It's powerful.
It's a heavy song, just talking about how
we need to treat the word of God like it's a treasure.
And I remember growing up, it was like,
whenever you hold your Bible,
you gotta hold it like it's a baby, like it's precious,
and you don't want anything to happen to it.
And I feel like we can use that term now,
but in a sense of like what is actually being spoken to you
in the words that the Lord are saying,
like that He's saying to you,
and how we can take that for granted
and we can push that away.
And it says,
your word is the greatest of treasures,
your word is sweeter than honey,
and we're sorry that we've taken it for granted.
Like, it's like we haven't wanted anything to do with it,
but it also says,
may the fear of the Lord be our reward
as it's been through the ages.
And once we receive the word that he's giving us,
it's like we receive the fear of the Lord.
And it just talks about how we need the Lord's wisdom
and we need his guidance
and we can also use his word as a weapon too.
So I feel like it's cool how we apologize
for taking it for granted,
but also like we can use that to combat anxiety.
I just think that's pretty cool.
That's great, so good.
You saying that you listen to songs throughout the night.
I used to, when I first moved to Nashville
and I was living by myself, which was like my biggest fear.
I did not like to be by myself really ever.
And y'all make fun of me for that.
And that's okay.
It's who I am.
But I, so now I'm like living in a different state
by myself and I just remember some of those nights,
like just not being able to sleep
because it's so interesting.
It's like, you think if you stay awake,
it's all gonna be okay. But it's like, what can you do?
You know, like if the worst case scenario
that I'm thinking of happened, what would I do?
You know?
A sleep awake.
I know, a sleep awake.
We should just go to sleep.
But I would just get so anxious in the night
and like try so hard to like stay awake
so that I didn't have to like shut my eyes
because I think this is deep,
but like shutting your eyes is surrendering.
It is surrendering to the Lord.
Like every night when you go to sleep,
if you're afraid of nighttime in the dark,
you're surrendering saying, I'm going to be unaware,
but I trust you God that you have me.
What is amazing is all throughout Psalms,
it talks about how even when you sleep,
He is with you.
When you lie down, He will protect you.
It's so amazing that the word is filled with that treasure.
So I would always open up my Bible
and literally go to sleep with it on my chest.
And obviously, I know it's not necessarily,
you know, I say this,
and I don't actually even agree with what I was about to say,
I was gonna say it's not a protection as far as like,
whatever, but I'm like, yeah, no, it actually is though,
because it's the shield around me.
Like God is my shield and my strength
and ever present help in times of trouble.
Like when I'm close, like literally covering myself
with that word, I'm reminded of the protection I have in God.
And so I would just like sleep with my Bible open.
And I remember even that, you know,
it says there's a verse in Psalms
and it's like, I reached on a high
and like with my righteous right hand.
One of them is, that's one in Isaiah,
but it talks about like actually like pulling you out
with the right hand of God.
And like, before I went to bed,
I would like, I was like holding the hand of God,
like God, I have your hand.
And to some people this might feel like, oh, that of God, like, God, I have your hand. And to some people, this might feel like,
oh, that's so crazy, but like, it's your weapon.
It's your peace.
It's where my hope comes from.
And I've been reading Psalms again.
I hadn't read it in a while, like all the way through,
kind of pick up verses here and there,
but I've been reading it and I've been amazed
at the treasure in there.
Like I forgot, you know, you can read something
in one season and it hits you in a different way.
And now just reread, it's like retaught me how to pray.
It's retaught me how to trust.
It's retrained my brain for what my brain's even thinking of.
Like it's just amazing.
And even as I talk about this,
I kind of go in back to that anxiety in the night.
I don't feel that anymore. But as I've been reading the Psalms, I'm like, man, there's so many go in that to that anxiety in the night. I don't feel that anymore.
But as I've been reading the Psalms, I'm like,
man, there's so many promises that you have me
even in the night.
And so if you are someone who struggles with anxiety,
there are not just songs for the anxious heart
and an album coming,
but there are words for your anxious heart today.
Pick up the word of God.
It is a treasure.
It is a weapon. It is where your help comes from, where your strength comes from. It is a treasure. It is a weapon.
It is where your help comes from,
where your strength comes from.
It is your peace.
He is your peace.
And if you've never read through Psalms,
I highly encourage you start with one and just go through.
Some are gonna relate to you,
some are maybe not in that season of your life,
but these Psalms are coming from people
who prayed to a God who was ever present,
who prayed to God who who was ever present, who prayed to God
who was responding to them.
And that same God who the Psalmists were praying to
is the God that you're praying to.
And so the same words they declared about His faithfulness
or the same words that are true about His character
in your life today.
And so coming from friends with anxious hearts
in past seasons and present seasons,
I just could not encourage you more
to cling to the words of God as your weapon
and as your strength.
And September 19th, we will have an album for you
to listen to all night long.
Presave and pre-add now.
Oh, you can do that now.
So presave, pre-add now.
That helps so much with just everything when it comes to music, if you presave and pre-add now, that helps so much with just the everything when it comes to music if you
pre-save and pre-add. So we would love to know that you're as excited as we are for this album
to come out. And friends, I appreciate y'all just being so real and so honest. This was a
great conversation and I can't wait for the world to hear the album. Yeah, thanks. Great.
