We've been doing some recap videos, which has been so, so good. And thank you all. I know we announced that we're going to just Wednesday episodes.

We've done some recap videos. I need a little minute to just take a breath. and I appreciate all of you for letting me do that. It's been such a good summer. So today, we're going to give a little life update, and we're going to talk about our Montana trip. I'm wearing my merch. I've got a fire word to preach today.

And, yeah, it's going to be great. So let's give a little. Am I preaching today? You're preaching. Did not know that? Yep. Where's your Bible? It's at the house.

But I have my phone over there. Your heart. It's, yeah. It's obviously on my heart. Absolutely. Obviously. So let's give a little life update to the people. You know what's funny?

I was, you know how I was wearing that striped shirt this morning? Mm-hmm. And then I changed. Yeah. Did you notice that? I am now. So consciously, I realized that last time we gave a life update, I was wearing the exact same outfit. Yes, you were.

So I thought, you know, I have more shirts. So life. 20 of more shirts. Thank you. Thank you. Christian loves to tell me I have too many clothes. But yet you always go look at your mom. house for clothes. It's just a girl thing. It's girl code. Um, but yeah, we have, it's actually been like so,

so sweet, honestly. So after everything that happened with Kit, uh, we continued to have some more ongoing medical things with Kit that were just a surprise. And that was very hard for us, uh, for, it was just very hard to see her continue to struggle in different ways and let us back to Baton Rouge for some more testing. Um, Turns out that she's actually doing really good. She just was like borderline anemic and also breath holds like I used to do as a kid, which is just really scary. All that to say that led me to being like, okay, I just want to be home with her and our family right now. We just need to like take a breath, recover from all that we've been through.

And also just like see what we're dealing with now and what this looks like. And so it's kind of created this new rhythm for us that has actually been really. sweet. We've spent so much family time this summer. It's been really, really fun. And yeah, I feel like that's like a little snippet. Yeah, definitely, you know, after all the initial stuff happened. And then, you know, the, you know, the ongoing things kind of kept happening. Yeah, then we did decide to take a step back and, you know, spend more time together as a family. It's been the sweetest time getting to spend more time together at the house of the family, watch movies. We've gotten to do a couple things to the house, which you have been leading the forefront on, which you've been

so excited about. I didn't so excited about. I feel like whenever we moved into our house, well, it was like, what? Don't say it. Don't say it was a house and now it's a home. I was not going to say that. Don't say that. I was not going to say that.

I literally thought you were about to say that. It was just a house, but now it's a home. No, I was going to say I kind of lost steam. Like, by the time we finally moved in, the. There was like so many things that I just was like, you know what, we're good. We're not going to finish the upstairs. We're not going to buy a rug for the kitchen. We're not going to like, we're just going to live in this for a little while.

And eventually we'll finish. And when we moved in, we had just had Haven. And then since then life has just been so busy that I just never kind of like finished. And now we've been finishing, which has been so fun, finally doing the upstairs. Finally bought a rug for our dining room and just different things that I've kind of wanted to do for a long time. but haven't just, like, set in our home long enough to do it. And that's been really fun. And so, yeah, it just has been good.

I will say it's kind of funny, though, because when all this was happening in our life and our personal life, and it honestly was very, very hard. Like, I would say the month after the surgery, whenever we kind of ran into some new medical things, that was just, like, so discouraging. And one of the lowest that I had gotten because I just felt like I thought we got through it and then we're kind of going back to it. And so I knew we needed to take off time. And so I was like, yes, I need to set back. But it was like a crazy time to do that because we were about to launch my book. We're about to conference. It's about to happen. And like all these other exciting things that we haven't even told everybody yet. And so I'm like, whoa, I'm like stepping back in like the craziest time. But it was really sweet how the Lord provided. Just our team is so strong right now. And I really was able to do that, which I'm so thankful for. And then I was able to like be fully present for my book. lunch and I was like so excited about that. I'm more excited for conference than ever, not as

stress as I normally am. And so sometimes you just need to like stop and take a break. Actually on this podcast years ago, Jen Johnson gave this advice that I think I'm living in right now. She, someone asked like, or I think that someone was me. That was before we did voicemail. I was about to say somebody would have been here. Somebody asked, oh yeah, wait, I was hosting. I asked the question, how do you balance all? that you do. She's like, forget the word balance. You don't balance life. Like, it's never going to be perfect balance. She said, you got to learn how to juggle. And I love that because, yeah, like life is juggling a lot of things. But this is the key point. Sometimes in order to

get back into the rhythm of juggling, you have to put a ball down. Like, you've gotten too many balls that you're juggling. So, like, you're constantly messing up. But like, put a ball down, get a good rhythm with a few balls that you have before adding more. And I think that that's, That's kind of what we did. It was like, whoa. Like, I'm totally off right now. Like, I'm going to put some things down and get back into a rhythm. And we went back to, like, a really simple rhythm, maybe just two, three balls at a time.

And now we're just adding a few more, but it feels good. And so, yeah, I was thinking about that. Whoa, that's good. That is a great analogy. I love that. Isn't that good? Can you actually juggle, though? I can.

I can't juggle. You never notice that I juggle all the time when I have just two balls in my hand. Is two balls juggling? I thought three balls was juggling. Two balls is like practice juggling. I don't think two balls. I can do three just not well, okay. No, but two balls is not juggling.

Two balls is just interchanging. Well, I can interchange with precision. You can. But all that is say, like we can't both actually juggle. Yeah, we're much better at metaphorically juggling. We are much better at metaphorically juggling. Then physically, Jeff. That's great.

Okay, so then we went to Montana. So let's talk about Montana because this is what I really want to get to because this was exciting. So we have had this on the schedule for a very long time because last year I got asked to speak at Movement, which is Levi and Jenny Lesko's Church, Fresh Life. Basically two years, I guess, at this point. Like since we've had it, we've had it on the calendar. We just didn't know we had it on the calendar. Uh-huh. You're throwing me.

Because we were supposed to do it last year. You didn't do it last year. to this year. Yeah. So technically been on the calendar for two years. It has been on the calendar for two years. Last year, we weren't able to do it because my due date was in August. And Fresh Life was at the, or movement was at the very end of July.

And I wasn't really sure if that was going to be able to happen, which didn't. Thank God it didn't because I had kit like three weeks early. And so it was like literally at the time of movement. So we pushed it to this year, which ended up being such a blessing because In the meantime, from last year to this year, Christian got obsessed with the show House of David. And this matters because at Passion, you tell the story. So I became obsessed with the TV show House of David. Season one, season two, they just greenlit for season three, which I don't think anybody is more excited about that than me.

But I was at Passion this past year, and I was showing people like a quick little 30-second snippet from the show to where. You would think someone hired Christian to do this? Yes. You would think they did, but I was not hired. This was just on my own excitement level. I was showing people this like 30-second snippet from the show, knowing that if they watched this, it would make them want to go watch the show. It did not necessarily do it for my wife,

but I think everyone else that I showed the clip to. Because the scene I was showing was David kind of killing people in a battle scene, which was pretty epic, but I don't think that maybe fired you up as much as maybe the guys that I showed. I believe I was one of the guys I was talking to about the show. And at the time, which I did not know this when I was talking about it, but he was planning a summer series going through House of David. And kind of with the tagline was, is that in the Bible? You know, obviously shows like The Chosen in House of David,

They take creative liberties in film to kind of, you know, heighten the scene of the, you know, the storyline, so to speak. So he, what do they do? This series called this that in the Bible. And to get people reading the scriptures kind of while watching the show and, you know, make your own inferences of, is this in the scripture or is this kind of creative liberty. So as I was talking to Levi about how obsessed I was with the TV show, he had just decided to do this series. and he was flying, I think, from maybe there to go film, like, whatever the six-week series he was doing on David. And so that was back in January, and then Levi FaceTime to me in April.

Well, you posted. You started posting like... I started posting a bunch of, like, fun, random thoughts that I'd had about just, you know, studying David's life, really not even necessarily anything to do with the TV show, but just, you know, reading First and Second Samuel in Psalms. You started writing, like, a ton. I did. Yes. I also, yeah, yeah. So, yeah, I did a 40-day, I'm still kind of working on the

I just think this is so cool because Christian watches the House of David, just like so many people watch the House of David. He becomes so obsessed with the life of David and what he was learning. Well, simultaneously, you're hosting the Unashamed podcast on Fridays, and they were going through David in their Hillsdale college stuff. And so he was just like learning so much. So then he's like, what do I do with all this information? and what's moving my heart so much. So he just starts writing this, like, devotional book. Devotional commentary.

It's not like he has a devotional book deal or that he was, like, trying to write a book. It was just like, you had so much in your heart on this that you just needed to get it out. So Christian starts writing really for, like, no end goal, right? Like, no outcome that he had set out for. Well, then he's like, well, I'm just going to, like, share some of this stuff I'm writing on Instagram because I think it's pretty good. And I was reading it. I was like, this is really good.

Like, you should share this. So he posted it in April and Levi, let's go, FaceTime's you. FaceTime me. But he had had the thought at Passion that he wanted me to possibly do something with the series. Then all the stuff I was posting on Instagram about David, plus working on the devotional commentary that I was working on. He phasedime me in April, which is actually crazy timing because this is. This was like two days after the kid stuff happened when we were on our beach trip in April. And he phased on me asking if the weekend before you speak at Movement,

if I wanted to come to the church and talk about David. And I was probably more excited to do that than any opportunity I've gotten to do in the past. So I was super excited about it. And yeah, we just got back from Montana. You spoke at the Movement Conference. Well, pause, because also in the meantime, time, a local church asked you to come preach to their youth. Yes. And you preach this whole message on David. And it was just really cool to see what the Lord was doing your heart. Thank you for all the

pauses you're giving me. Well, this is important because I think a lot of people, you know, want an opportunity, you know, like they want to write a book, they want to go on a stage, you want to do this stuff. But like, sometimes you don't wait for the opportunity to come to then get ready for what you do when the opportunity comes. Like you've got to start when the Lord puts it on your heart, even when you don't see the ending in mind. I mean, I mean, it's this goes to like Noah when God's like build a boat. Well, it had never rained before. So there's like valid, you know, thoughts that Noah could have.

Like, I'm going to wait to see the rain before I build the boat. But then obviously that wouldn't work because then he would not have time to build the boat. And I think it's really cool because it's like you had been building the boat. And God had been doing something in your heart before you knew where that was going to take you. And even still, like, we don't know where that's going to take you, you know. But the fact that when Levi called and was like, hey, I want you to do the this on a Sunday morning at our church. And, you know, y'all listening and having a view into our life, you might not think that's like, maybe you think it's a big deal, maybe you don't, because I do a lot of

that. But Christian hadn't stepped into that before. Like, that's something that you hadn't done a Sunday morning at a church. And you were like, that's something I would love to do. But I haven't necessarily gotten, like, the opportunity to do it in that capacity. And so I think sometimes, you know, you look at other people where you're like, oh, of course I got that opportunity. But that was like a huge deal to you that you were super excited about and prepared for because you had been preparing for six months of in the word studying, writing, crafting a message without even knowing who you were going to preach that message to. And so I thought that was just like the coolest thing ever. And how cool that I didn't speak last year because then this year gave us the opportunity

for you to speak at the church Sunday. I didn't even think. That's so cool. Me to speak to the youth Thursday. Didn't even think about that. Unless you would have gotten asback, unless you were going to two-peed it. Well, that would have meant I had to bring it. So I haven't got that aspect for next year, though. But for real, it was just a really cool thing. I thought that was awesome how that was all played out. So thank you so much for saying that.

That's very sweet. Yeah, it was awesome. So then we go to Montana on Saturday. Your parents meet is there. And Sunday morning, you got up and you preached that word. Q&A style. Q&A style, which I think was sweet because that's so your sweet spot. I always say like you're the best one-on-one.

Thank you. Like whatever. Yeah, that is my, I like the more conversational. It's true. Like at Passion, for example, I go and like, I will deliver a message to the conference, but then like, because I'm thinking about that, I'm not having as many social conversations with everybody. You, however, are having like one-on-one in-depth, like deep conversations, which is what led you and Levi and talked about House of David. And you're so good one-on-one. You're so good Q&A style.

So I actually think that was really sweet, and I think Levi really pulled it out of you. But the message was fire. So I wanted for people to hear it a little bit about what God's been teaching you through David, specifically the three voices and a giant you have to kill before. Very sweet. Thank you.

Come on. Thank you. Yes, no. And then getting to do that at church was super fun. And it was three services. And I'd never done, you know, one service, let alone three back to back to back. So it was a ton of fun. But the thing that I, yeah, so the message that Sadie is talking about, the idea of David's, you know,

I call it Davis four different voices. And the idea of, you know, David and Goliath is one of the most well-known stories in all of scripture, specifically about David's life. and you don't think about at least i've never really thought about like what david had to overcome before he ever actually got to you know the opportunity to kill goliath so you have david who's a shepherd super young some scholars believe he's like 17 at the time he's anointed to be the next king of israel his father sends him out to go check on the brothers uh it says to bring him back a token which basically means just go make sure they're all alive, come back and hopefully bring me a good report.

So Jesse gives David cheese and bread to bring to the commanders and then to bring the brothers. So David shows up to the battle, expecting I'm sure the war to be going on. It was a 15 to 20 mile journey from Bethlehem to Sukhoth, which is where the battle was taking place. So it's like a two-day journey basically of David carrying the cheese. to the brothers. And I love thinking about even that story about what, you know, the idea of what David was thinking in his mind as he's going to go to go do this, knowing, not knowing that his life will forever be changed the moment he gets to the battle and become one of the most famous people to ever live, pretty much based on this one action with the giant. So he shows up

to the battle and he is immediately met with. judgment from his brother. Eiliab's the oldest brother of David. It's where you have the verse, you know, the Lord looks at the outward. Man, God does not see what man sees. You know, man looks at the outward appearance. The Lord looks at the heart.

Based off the interaction between Samuel and Eiliab, Eliaab was the oldest brother of David. Samuel thought that was who God was going to choose to anoint. It was not who he chose. So David shows up and Eelab immediately judges his heart. But he says that David has a wicked heart. He wanted to come see the battle. And then he asks, who did you leave the few sheep with?

So immediately, David's met with criticism from his brother and judgment. And Iliab questions his motive. And he also questions his calling, so to speak. David's a shepherd. And he comes at the thing that God saw, that he anointed David for. So I was thinking about that from the standpoint of in life, of how many of us would have just shut down after the first insult from from our brother or you know whether a close friend or relative or whatever um because i know i probably would have either gotten in some sort of

you know verbal altercation with if my brother said that it would have been like you know i definitely would have been like who was the one that was just anointed you know remind me like there would have been some sort of lip talk probably back and david just you know shrugs it off doesn't And some people respond like you and they'd like, you know, heart back, but then some people respond to me and just get crushed. Yeah. You know, just be like, oh, yeah, like, you know, what am I even doing here? Well, my two reactions.

You know, like, I think you either get, like, beat down by it or you, like, bow up to it, you know? Yeah. And I think that, but I love this whole concept because it's like the four voices, this idea of, like, most of us don't even make it to the giant. You would not even make it because you wouldn't make it past the brother. You wouldn't make it past the insult. And I think about that even we talked about in my life. Like so many of us have faces, the minute that you're like, I'm going to go do something good.

And it's like right when you go up, like you're going to get faced with opposition, people who judge you, misunderstand you, talk bad about you. And it's like you got to be able to know your why, know who you are to make it past even those insults from a brother because those is hurt. Summer keeps us running all over the place, but there's something about the fall that feels like coming home. Well, I think too, I think oftentimes whenever you read the scripture, you can fail to humanize the characters. And even, you know, the idea of thinking about, so David has this altercation with his brother. His brother says at least things that are hurtful things to say. And then it's like, okay, so then David's next transition is going from this, you know, conversation with his brother to then being escorted to Saul's tent because people overheard David saying he wanted to go fight the giant. So it's like, well, that, however brief that walk might have been,

Like thinking about what David's thoughts were in that moment of going from that conversation with his brother to the, to the tent of a king. And it's like, was he having intrusive thoughts or was he, you know, like what inward dialogue was he having, you know, in that real moment of time? Which, talk about this for a saying. So, this is a cool point. So one of Christians' favorite verses is like whenever it says, and David heard him. And he's talking about when David heard the giant. And I really love your perspective on David hearing him instead of even seeing him like the rest of them. That was a cool point.

Thank you. That's very sweet. Well, this is not necessarily, well, it's in scripture, but it's more, this is my creative liberty side of the text. Yeah, because there's a version of first hymn of 17. It's talking about Goliath taunting the armies of Israel. And then it says, and David heard him. And I was thinking about it from the standpoint of, you know, this stalemate, so to speak, has been going on for 40 days.

So there's been morning and evening, Goliath has come out and, you know, cursed God and then cursed Israel. And this has happened for 40 days. So if you multiply 40 times two, that gives you 80. Thank you. Yeah, so or 40 plus 40 is 80. Either way, 80 times, upwards of 80 times the Israelites had heard Goliath, you know, cursing God and cursing Israel and done nothing about it.

And there's just a simple text and it says, and David heard him. And I thought it was so cool because it only took one time for David to, you know, to take action after he heard Goliath cursing. And the Israelites had heard it 80 times. It did nothing about it. But David, you know, he only needed one time to hear it and to take action. And that verse in David heard him, I was thinking about it from the standpoint of, I wonder if David was the only one to have heard Goliath before he actually saw Goliath. You know, all of Israel would have seen Goliath and then heard, you know, seeing the giant and then heard the insults. But then David heard the insult and then saw the giant. And I think so many of us, you don't need to be hyping. No, it's so good. It's so good because it's so true.

I talk back culture. No, no, no, no. I know. I know. I'm trying to distract. But it's true when it's like, it did not matter what the giant looked like to him. The giant was cursing God. and that was enough for him to say, I'm going to fight him. Like, I don't care what you look like. I heard that. I heard that threat. I heard what you're coming against. I know who my God is.

I know my God is bigger. I know I'm anointed. I know I have power inside of me that's greater than me living in the world. I know I've killed a lion and buried with my own hands. I don't care what this guy looks like. I heard that. And the theme of the text. That's so good.

Well, in the theme of the text, you just have the chapter, either the chapter or ever the chapter before. I think it's the chapter before. you literally just have the whole theme of God saying I don't see what man sees out man looks at the out of appearance I look at the heart

so you go straight from God saying I don't see the outward appearance I look at the heart to what every man is seeing which is the giant yeah so it's like the thing that should have been feared more was David's heart

but the Israelites feared the giant more that's so good it's not laugh at you up it's so good because think about that. In our life, we get so psyched out by the things that we see that feel bigger than us, that then we don't do anything about it. We don't fight it. We don't stand up for it. We don't

run into it. But when you know who God is and you know what you're called to, it doesn't matter how big it is that it's coming against you, how intimidating that it feels, how much bigger than you you think it is, because you know that God is bigger. And that's why when Honey and Haven, they always love to, you know, play David and Goliath. And, you know, one of them acts like they're shooting a slingshot and the other one falls over and is the giant. But I'll always make sure they get into their scene. I'm like, no, what did David say? You come to me a sword in the spirit, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of Heaven's armies.

Because I want them to understand that concept, because that's what's going to come at them in life. There are going to be giants. They are going to be intimidating. They are going to come with sword and javelin and all the different things that want to scare you and make you feel like they can defeat you. but I come in the name of the Lord, heaven's army. And because I'm in the Lord, because I'm anointed by God, and because he is my strength, I can throw what I have.

I can throw this stone, I can show up as I am, and defeat whatever's in front of me. So I just think that is rich. Well, thank you. I appreciate it. So then, like I said, he goes from this altercation with his brother to then being escorted to Saul's tent. So then you have judgment from a brother, and then he's immediately met with doubt from a king because Saul says, you know, you're just a boy. This man has been, you know, a warrior from youth. Uh, you can't go fight him. You have no experience. You know, all, all these other

things. And so I thought about that again. It's like more, you know, like, and just, this is another mental obstacle for David to, to have to overcome about, you know, my, my, my, my brother just had out of wicked heart and, you know, that the shepherding I do is, is basically this, you know, insignificant thing. And then you have the king of Israel, Saul, who's the most famous person in Israel, the most well-known, respected person, influential person, now telling you, you can't go do this. And just my, my thought goes to immediately more intrusive thoughts on Davidson to have to combat and overcome about. Why does your mind go there? Well, just because it's, it's, if I just read the text, I don't think about it, but if I think about David as a human,

and relate to our life, then you see that. Well, I was going to say, your mind goes there because you would do that. Because you would go intrusive, like, oh, yeah, like, I can't. Who am I? Why would I think I could fight that giant? Like, Saul, who is the king? Like, he is the authority. He's the one that would know, and he's looking at me going, you don't got it.

Like, maybe I just need to trust him and think, like, I guess I don't have it, you know? Well, I think, too, because I don't think, and I probably believe, didn't realize this. I don't think people realize that if Saul did not let David go, then David would have never gotten to. Yeah. So the fact that Saul allowed it is what led, you know, let David go do that. So my mind there goes to David's confidence. It's if David lacked confidence in the tent with Saul, Saul would have never let him go fight the giant. Yeah. And I think that that to me is such an interesting fact that if David was, you know, not confident.

If he was not exuding something, then Saul would have never let him go do it. But because David was so confident, because he backed up the line of the bear and, you know, I will go do this. Saul saw something in David that let him go do it. And I think if David would have not been, if David would have not had that confidence,

then Saul would have never let him go fight the giant, fight Goliath to begin with. And let's back it up for a second. How was David so confident? Well, because David, again, this wasn't the first giant he was fighting. He wasn't waiting for the moment that he heard of Philistine coming against the world. This was not the first giant. You know, he had seen things in the wilderness.

He had been, you know, he had been in relationship with the Lord. He had been anointed. And to go back to Elia, I'd have to hit that a little bit harder when he said, you know, your heart's wicked. Like, you're here just to see the battlefield. Like you're not coming to just deliver the cheese or whatever. and he comes at his heart. Now, why is that important? Because God had anointed David because of his heart.

Yeah, so God had said, man looks up the outward appearance, but I look at the heart. And because I look at the heart, I'm choosing David for his pure heart. Earlier in 1st Samuel, I think it's 1st, 7th, 15. First Samuel, which is where Samuel first tells Saul, that, you know, the Lord's taking the kingdom from you. I think it's first Samuel 15.

It might be first Samuel 13. But Samuel tells Saul that God has sought. someone, God has found a man who will watch in the text. But it's basically Samuel telling Saul that God has found someone like who is a man after his own heart. And it's referenced about David that David was a man after God's own heart in Acts. The New Testament refers to David as a man after God's own heart. So why is that important? Because who will do

the brother. The brother comes at the thing that the Lord spoke to and said was good. And the brother says, oh, your heart's bad, your heart's evil. Well, that's so important to note because that is so accurate in how life goes sometimes. People are going to come at the thing

that God's already spoken over you that said was good. Like, you're going to, there's something about your personality that is going to be quirky to someone else, it's going to be different to someone else, and they're going to come at that

and they're going to make fun of you for it. But like, God actually made you that way on purpose. And what's important in life is not letting what the person says about you become more true than what God already spoke about you, what God already, you know, designed you for. And so I think that this is so important because if the brother said, your heart's wicked and David believed him, then David could have got in his head and been like, oh, like, yeah, what am I doing here? I shouldn't even be here. It turns around and leaves. Or he goes, I shouldn't even be here. Okay, but maybe he gets past that. Then he gets

to the king and the king's like, you're just a boy. You're just a youth. Now, meanwhile, David doesn't do what we would have done. He doesn't go, oh, okay, my heart must be wicked because he said it, or I must not be able because I am just a youth. And he doesn't like believe what they said. He goes back to believing what God already spoke, knowing that he's anointed, that he is, has power within him that is much greater than what anybody else can see. And he's going back to like, one words God spoke over him, but two, like moments with God that he had in the wilderness that no one else knows about. And so that's where that confidence comes from. That confidence isn't coming from nowhere. That confidence is coming from a deep trust in what the Lord had spoken and what the Lord had done.

And that is something that we can all model our life after. Well, then like you said, you talk about the wicked heart. And then like I said, Eliab comes at the, you know, who did you leave the few sheep with? So he's coming at his shepherding. And which is cool. And the few. The few sheep. Yeah. Which is cool. Because then you have Second Samuel 7, which is the text we love, when God says, I took you from tuning the sheep, you know, to shepherding my people, Israel. So they had, you know, so it's so cool that, like, the thing that David did well, even though it was maybe small since Elyep says a few sheep, and it seemed ordinary, like God was seeing how David stewarded that before he gave him, you know, people to actually

Are you kidding? Because I said, woo. Well, I just, you said a little more than woo. But it was very encouraging. I'm loving your talkback. I just, I'm not used to the, I'm not used to the talkback culture. I'll be quiet. Okay, so yes. So, checkpoint one, the doubt, the judgment from his brother. Checkpoint two, the doubt from a king. And then next, from there, then you have David trying on Saul's armor,

which to me is you have the verbal, you know, the verbal, you know, doubt from Saul. And then you have more room for intrusive thoughts, right? If you're trying on the armor, it doesn't fit. And then you're embarrassed. Then you're embarrassed. And you're like, you know, David said, I can't go out in these for I haven't,

I've never worn them. So it's like, I just think about it from like how many footholds the enemy could have had. in David's life in this moment. It's good. And David was just so set on the mission of, I'm going to go kill this giant that the judgment from his brother didn't derail him, the doubt from he came didn't derail him.

And then you have him approaching Goliath. And then, you know, that's the whole, my dog that you come in me with sticks. And Goliath starts cursing David and hurling insults at him. And the original words in the Hebrew that Goliath was using were very inappropriate words. So the idea, too, of like, now you're actually on the battlefield. I don't know how far away you are from the giant, but now you're looking at a physical giant and he's cussing you out. Then it's like, to me, that's another hurdle to face of like, you know, am I really about to go do this?

You know, you've been through checkpoint one, checkpoint two. Now you have checkpoint three before you ever throw the stone, you know, having to hear the insults from. a giant in front of tens of thousands of people in Israel. And then, you know, obviously the famous story, David, you know, throws the stone and it hits Goliath in the head. And then David uses Goliath sword to cut off his own head, which he just seems like such a beast. But so the whole idea, you know, that was what I was talking about, the four voices, right? So you have the voice of, so for me, the idea is, it's the voice of truth, which is what we talked about,

David being a man for God's own heart. That's why God annoys to David was because of his heart. So if that's your foundation, if you know who you are, if you know what God has spoken of about you, then the judgment from a brother, the doubt from a king, and then the ridicule from a giant,

that's not going to throw you off of the plan because you know what the voice of truth is. But if you don't know what the truth is, then you're going to mistake all these other lies for truth. And maybe not necessarily mistaken for truth, but you're going to believe those lies. at times if the voice of truth is not your foundation. And you have to know what God says about you,

what Jesus says about you. Obviously God and Jesus are the same person. We believe. But what I was saying was you have to know like what God has, you have to know what God. I'm not confused people. Why? Because, okay, well, that I'm not going to explain the trend.

right now. You're going to get into... No, it's a good. Another podcast, another time. Sorry. Okay. Jesus is God in the flesh is what we believe. So if I say Jesus said this...

That was good. That was good. Good clarification. Okay, yes. Because Jesus was God. Thank you. Is God. Okay.

Voice of truth. You have to know what the truth about your life is and what God has spoken over you. Then to where you have all these other little fires. arrows, these darts that people throw at you, you know, it's not going to crush you. Like, will it sting? Yes. Does it hurt? Yes.

But does it just completely destroy and derail you? No. But if you don't have that foundation, then it will. So for David, it's like if David did not fully recognize the power of his anointing and that God chose him because of his heart, then he would have believed his brother. He would have believed Saul when Saul said, you can't go do this. He would have believed that. Or then he would have believed, you know, the, you know, the cursing from Goliath.

And I think, you know, you just read David and Goliath. Oh, he showed up. And then he, you know, when killed the giant, which is true. But the idea, at least for me when I read the text, it's like, but David had to overcome so many mental things that could have, that could have distracted him that didn't distract him. Because when you read stories like that, you're like, oh, that's David, that's great. and you kind of like make him this hero because he did a heroic thing, but you almost, when you look at a hero, you'll take out the human in them sometimes,

and you think, well, of course they did that. They were made to do that. They were anointed to do that. But then when you remind yourself, oh, they were a human, like I'm a human, and they were anointed, like the Bible says, I'm anointed. Well, that's crazy because I have the spirit of God living inside of me. okay well what does that look like what kind of power does that mean that i that i have in life

when i can go up against giants when i can go up against things that make me afraid or intimidate me um and i don't have to believe the criticism or the lies or i don't have to let the misunderstandings and the judgments of me sway the path that god actually has laid out before me and so you broke that down thank you that was great across canada in a Volvo destination Vancouver turn left to leave. But the message kind of concludes with like what are the, what are the lies you're believing? So what are the voices that you're believing? Like, is it the judgment from a brother? Is it the doubt from a king or someone in authority? Or is it the ridicule from a giant, which to me would just be the enemy? Like, who is someone that maybe you have some beef with?

Or the voice of truth? Or the voice of truth. Like, is the voice of truth louder than all these other voices in your life? So for you, look at what are those voices and you have to discern what is truth and what is a lie. You know, I have to say to that. What? Write that book. Write that book.

The book is written. Oh. Well, the, the. Okay. I would. You heard it here first. I would consider it. It's not a.

Okay. Okay. I'm excited. Also, you know what we didn't talk about in our life of date. Also, you know why I think you're being. like this, which is incredible. You know what you did this morning? A Bible study.

With who? Actually, no. It wasn't. With who? It wasn't with her. It wasn't. It actually wasn't. Yeah.

This is the epitomey I talked about culture. It's me and you. I'm hyping you up. This is good. I'm not saying it's bad. Did I not sound exactly like this in Fresh Life? I talked back to you the whole time. You did.

I'm just not used to this close range. I was to say, I did this the entire church service for two services. actually, because I, because whenever I'm speaking, it's very helpful when people are like, that's good, that's really good. And they're like, I'm sorry. I'm like, don't apologize. That's the greatest comment. compliment to him. He loves it. He keeps saying it. But if you disagree with that, please don't go in the comments and say that you disagree. Yeah, no, that would crush him. That's the voice of the enemy. That's the ridicule. Or, yeah, or the judgment. Yeah. Okay. Well, anyways. But people that are coming to that, they're probably my enemy, so. If you don't think I look like a his brother, you're my enemy. I did get to preach a message that I ended up really loving because it was kind of the last minute come through. Are you going into it now?

But it's true. I do not. My humor is like actually funny. No, over that time someone was wearing camo pants, you're like, where's your pants? And I was like, dad joke. You're like, that's not a dad joke. I'm like, that's the epitome of a dad joke. No, it's not.

That's kids say that all the time. I don't think you understand. What a kid, would I say a kid's humor is dad humor? I don't think you understand. Okay, back to Montana. She's like, right now. I'm not wearing a shirt. Oh, my gosh.

Oh, my gosh. It's just funny. I did get to share a message. I knew the passage I wanted to read. I did not know the concept that I was going with. And it's like two days before, and I was like, I got to get away to a quiet space. And I just felt so excited about this picture I kept seeing in my mind. And it was kind of random, really, because I don't think about this a lot.

But I kept thinking about when World War II was over and the excitement that you see, like, in New York City, the pictures you see in Times Square. And I've kept feeling like the Lord was giving me this image to represent kind of what was going to happen at the conference. Like the war is over. And what does that mean? And what does that look like? And what should that produce in us and the excitement of that?

And when I'm talking about the war, I'm talking about a spiritual war. And so it was just super cool. I ended up calling my great grandmother. We had a cool conversation. She was 14 when World War II ended. She actually remembered the day in San Diego. And so it just ended up being like such a fun message to preach and saw so many people truly like give their life to the Lord some for the very first time. Just it felt like the war was over for hundreds of kids.

And it was amazing. It was so, so fun. And that's on YouTube now. So you can watch that one. Check that on the tube. The war is over. We're actually sandwiched together. We are.

No, I'm just trying to just tell you that I was thinking about doing it, but I didn't. Thank you. But I'm glad you did it to me because I... You're not glad? Yes, it was very encouraging and very helpful.

Well, I said hype me up, but I love that. I'm trying to hype you. I think it's a great concept. This is showing that you really took heart. It's a great concept. I am very, very, very excited about this. I think our culture, we have a hard time coming face to face with some hard conversations, confronting things in our life, without getting defensive about it, without taking it too personal. Defensive or deflated.

Yeah, because that's true. When someone says something to you that's personal or that confronts you with something, like, you get so defensive or you just get like totally deflated. But what if... Which is honestly kind of like what we're talking about with David. I was actually thinking that. You either go defensive or deflated, but actually, like, what if it's not personal? because you've already been personally spoken to by God that your heart is good, right? And so I think that like you have to take your relationship with God personal.

It cannot be not personal. It is personal. It's so personal. John 316, God made it personal when he sent his one and only son. Everything about it is personal. But when you take that personally and you let that personally transform your life, you actually don't take things as personal from other people. So when someone says you got a wicked heart, you're like, actually, I know I have a good heart because the Lord already spoke that.

So when it's personal with Jesus, it becomes less personal with other people. But then there's also beauty and personal relationships as well. And I talk all about that in the book, when something, when confrontation is a good thing, when it's a bad thing. When people speaking into your life, don't be speaking into your life when you need to receive it. And I break that down from a lot of personal examples in my own life. And I'm thrilled about it.
