Starting point is 00:00:00 So LoLau Blankets are one of those things that you bring into your house thinking it's going to be all yours and suddenly everybody else wants to claim it. I have the large and it's honestly the perfect size for me. I love curling up with it on the couch when I'm reading, but also it's big enough for all the girls to pile in for some snuggle time and movie time, which is so much better. They are ridiculously soft, y'all, made with luxury, faux fur, and a four-way stretch that makes them extra cozy, but they're also practical. You can throw them in a washing machine and they are made to hold up without peeling or. are shedding. It's amazing. Lola has over 20,000 five-star reviews, and once you feel one, you will totally get why. And honestly, Lola Blankets make a great gift, too, because it's one of those things that the whole family's going to use. We actually gave one to a little newly
Starting point is 00:00:44 a couple that was getting married, and they were so excited about it because it's so gorgeous, and it does feel like luxury, and it was so comfy. So they were like, this is going on our bed. We're so excited. For a limited time, our listeners can get 40% off. Select Lola Blanket products with the code, Whoa, Checkout. Just head to Lola Blanket. com, use the code whoa, and get 40% off your order. Trust me, this is a great deal. After you purchase, they'll ask where you heard about them, and please let them know that our podcast sent you there.
Starting point is 00:01:10 Wrap yourself in luxury with Lola Blankets. We're having a great week, but per usual, it is about to get so much better, and I genuinely mean that I don't know that I've ever been more excited to record a podcast episode because today, this is a live podcast from L.O. sister conference. Can we hear the girl? Let's go.
Starting point is 00:01:42 This is literally so fun. I'm geeking. Okay. I have incredible guests here too. Number one, we have a fan favorite, a co-host, Corey Robertson, on the podcast. We have Pastor O'Neika McClellan, Alex Seeley, Lisa Harper. Can you even handle it? I can't.
Starting point is 00:02:01 But today, we're going to go serious because the reality is a lot of girls are coming in here, having some really big questions and going through. life and some hard things. And so if you're watching this on YouTube, you can see this phone booth. Whoa, that's good telephone booth. And it's been so beautiful because as this conference has gone on, girls have gone in this phone booth and left voice messages for us, letting us know what they're actually going through so that we can really speak into it. Y'all have heard me say this a million times, but this podcast is to be a sister and a friend to those who don't have one. And so today, that's what we want to be for you, a sister and a friend, to help speak into
Starting point is 00:02:36 some of the hard things you're going through. And these are the women who speak into my. my life when I'm going through hard times. These are the people I pick up the phone and call when I need some advice. So I'm so grateful that today they're going to pick up your phone call and we're going to speak into that. So can we hit the first voicemail? Hey, Sadie, this is Macy. I'm 23 years old and I've been in a toxic relationship for the past seven and a half years. I'm not saying I'm perfect, but he doesn't treat me well. He doesn't want to go to church and now he doesn't even work. We just broke up a few days ago, and this is the seventh or more time that we've broke up.
Starting point is 00:03:12 But for some reason, I can't seem to break free from this, and I keep taking him back. I would love advice on how to get out of the situation and also prayers. Thank you. I'll just start with a really practical thing, because this is something I think I saw in y'all in your dating relationships and friendships.
Starting point is 00:03:30 One of the things I feel like we always want as women is closure, and so you keep going back, because you think, oh, I'm going to get some kind of answer or some kind of closure, but we're really most likely not going to get that in a relationship that's toxic. You said the word toxic. You know it is.
Starting point is 00:03:51 So you're not going to get that. So don't go back and expect something different from somebody that has given you the same thing over and over and shown who they are. So just on a really practical level, I would just say, you make your piece about this relationship and where and what all that's gone on. it with God. Don't go try to make peace with him in this relationship. Make that with God. And then also just know your worth. That's what this whole conference, you're going to hear it so many times. You're so worthy. God says you are worthy of love and respect and honor. And if you
Starting point is 00:04:27 are not receiving that relationship, get out. I'll say too, like you are so not alone. that you sound just like I did in high school and I remember really wrestling with that and then it was really cool because you know when you're on the other side of a testimony and you get to really speak into girls' lives and you're like oh it's so worth it to wait like do not settle um actually I was getting my makeup done last week and me and the makeup artists were talking and she was going through something and I was able to encourage her with something very similar I went to in high school and she was saying something about her future and she was like I mean I guess like, I guess it could be okay, you know. It could work out. Like, that would be fine. And I was like,
Starting point is 00:05:06 but is that what God has for your future? Like, is that the kind of life that, that you want, that it would just be okay. It could be that. No, like, God has good plans for you, friend. Like, hold out for good plans. And she was sitting with me today this morning, do I make it while I was listening to the voicemails. And when yours came on, she goes, and that's me. She's like, this is my life. This is what you said to me last week. And she was like, and it encouraged me so much. I went home and told my friends, and I was like, girl, I was speaking from a place of really living that out. And like, I went through that, the toxic relationships, the breaking up, the going back, the
Starting point is 00:05:37 going back, the going back, the going back, one enclosure where I wasn't going to get it. And then, like, I am so grateful now that I didn't settle for less than the man God had for me than the life God had for me. And having Christian here as a prayer warrior behind the scenes, praying for you, girls. I'm like, thank you, God, that I didn't keep going back to those toxic relationships that I waited for the man that God had for me. And so I just want to say you're not alone. and my friend today, she said, you'll have to answer that because I need to hear the answer too.
Starting point is 00:06:03 So you're definitely not alone. Do you want to speak into that at all? I'll definitely speak into that. I was the same girl. That was me. I talked about it recently, but I was in a very unhealthy, toxic relationship, verbally abused, didn't have high standards for myself. My standards were, are they handsome and do they believe in God, but not are they on fire for God? Does their life have fruit?
Starting point is 00:06:26 do they have other men or young men in their lives that are speaking life over them holding them accountable? Are they planted in church? Are they on a serve team? I just had the standard handsome believed in God. And then I found myself in this very unhealthy relationship that actually started to wear away at my security and wear away at who I, like just little by little. Like at first it was fun, but then little by little I started to become someone that was very insecure and not confident in who I was. And then finally, when I met some other women who were older than me, they reminded me, you do not have to settle. God has better for you. And I feel like that's what we're saying to our friend today.
Starting point is 00:07:06 And so all the girls that find themselves in a similar situation that you don't have to settle. And it sounds so cliche to say God has better, but he really does have better. And it's actually better to be single and hang out with your girlfriends and make memories with your girlfriends and discover who you are in Jesus, then be in an unhealthy relationship. And if you were to interview someone now who's married to the guy that our friend on the phone is dating or in and out of, they would say to you, girl, run, run, run, run, and so that's my advice, run. And run right to Jesus.
Starting point is 00:07:45 So good. That's so good, girl. I love that. So good. Do we want to go to the next voice mail? This is Camie from Tennessee. I was just curious what you do when you're in one of those dark moments. And you're doing everything that you've been taught.
Starting point is 00:08:02 Like you're seeking Jesus. You're hitting your knees every morning in prayer trying to get through it. And nothing feels like it's changing. I'm currently going through cancer and it just seems like I'm in a valley. And I know it's not forever. But just how do you get through those moments when you don't fill him? there. Thanks for everything that you do. I appreciate you. Bye. Sometimes I think we forget that the valleys are the most fertile soil is. And most of us,
Starting point is 00:08:32 I think, are prone to go, let me get through this and get back to a pinnacle where, you know, keto works for me or I'm doing a TikTok dance. And we miss that the deepest fruit is usually in the valley. That's where the richest soil is. And so I would say if you're in one of those places where you go, this is hard, lean into the heart. And you'll find yourself going, oh, golly jeepers, the intimacy I experienced with Jesus, because I couldn't get through the next 15 minutes by myself. So the intimacy you develop with Jesus during the heart,
Starting point is 00:09:08 I've ended up being on pinnacles and longing for valleys because of the intimacy I experienced with Jesus. And I think as Christian women, we do our same. a disservice in thinking that perky is better. And we tend to curate our emotions and think, I'll just hide the sad, because sad is bad, and let me just bring happy, clappy to the Lord. That's so not biblical. The most often asked question in the Bible is how long, oh Lord. We are human. We are not drones. And so to go, this is, well, of course it's hard. Jesus said it would be hard. He didn't punk us. He said, in this world, you will have trouble.
Starting point is 00:09:49 take heart. I've overcome the world. And so I don't mean to sound like a Pollyanna, but at this age and stage of life, I actually look back at valleys and go, oh, those were date nights with Jesus. Yeah. Yeah. I think, honestly, we often, when we're in those places, we ask why. We're like, why God, why God? And I don't think we would like the answer anyway. Like, he would give us the answer and we wouldn't be satisfied with the answer. So I've learned in those times where it feels like there's no light at the end of the tunnel, it feels like it's the darkest night. I've just got to trust that though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil because you're right there with me. And like Lisa said, you will find the most, I don't know, it's the most beautiful
Starting point is 00:10:40 facet of Jesus in your suffering and you worship. Instead of asking why, why? worship because when you worship, you shift your gaze from the issue that's at hand to the one where your help comes from and you look up and your circumstance might not change today or tomorrow, but something in you changes. So you can go another day. You can go and I, there was prayers that I prayed in these seasons where I would go hour by hour. I need you hour by hour. If I can only have you for an hour, we're going to get through them. next hour. And then you look back and you go, man, what I learned over that season, I wouldn't trade for all the gold in the world because you're going to find beauty in the place of such
Starting point is 00:11:29 suffering. Y'all, well, that's good is good, but it just got a little bit better because on the Echo app, you can actually listen to it ad free. I have been so stoked to analysis and let you guys know. And Echo is such a special place for it to live because this is something that my parents have been heavily involved in the creation of. The schedules are back in full swing. The nights are getting cooler. And by the
Starting point is 00:12:12 end of the day, I just want my bedroom to feel like the coziest place in the house. That's why the Huff House loves Miracle Made bedsheets. They have that soft, breathable, luxury hotel feel, but they're made with some really smart technology. Miracle made sheets are inspired by NASA technology, actually. And you think of Lulu and Michaela last night. Their testimony is carry weight. Give me a skinny blonde girl with good skin. And I'm like, what have you been through?
Starting point is 00:13:43 Give me somebody who goes, this was really hard, and let me tell you about the goodness of God and how he carried me through the heart. That testimony carries, I'm sorry, you beautiful blondes, there's so many of you. But the testimony of someone who's been in the valley
Starting point is 00:14:02 and they've experienced intimacy with Jesus in the valley, I'm telling you, that shows, and that so encourages the rest of us. It's so good. Oh, it's so good and so helpful. Just to share, like, a vulnerable story with y'all. Because what they're saying is so true and the strength you find in those times, it will carry you through and you'll go back. And then that's it, like we talked about, like Elijah was going back to the bread.
Starting point is 00:14:27 He was going back to the water. He was going back to the time. So, Lord, was faithful. And that's what actually renewed his strength. And so yesterday, it was just actually a really crazy thing that happened because we had just been, like, so excited for conference and believing so much. And the past couple weeks have been crazy as all things are and life is crazy and everybody has things coming at them.
Starting point is 00:14:48 And it was nothing short of that. But like a month ago, we had this call for conference and it was, you know, believing for what was going to happen at conference and I was going through everything. And Lisa was like so just beautifully spoke that like over Kit. Like we need to pray for Kit specifically. And so she prayed over her and everybody prayed and we're like, they're going to have no more episodes in Jesus' name. We really were believing that and like stepping up.
Starting point is 00:15:11 and strong. And then about an hour and a half before last night started, Kit had an episode. And I was wrecked about it. And I was crying so hard in my room with mom and Christian. And I was looking at the clock and it kept ticking. And then it was 615. And I was supposed to go in the green room for prayer and worship and lead this moment and start this conference. And I was not just like one tear crying, I was like ugly, all makeups off, snot crying. And I, and like, I've done things before where I've been really sick before and I've been like, I got this. I can do this. We've had warfare. Like, we're doing this. Like, I really like always have the sense of like, I can do this. And last night, I looked at my mom and Christian and I said, I don't know how to do this. I don't know
Starting point is 00:16:03 how to do this. I don't know how to go lead something when I feel like this. Because I was wrestling with everything I was about to preach because I was hoping for something. And then right before, it didn't like it happened. Like the thing that I'd been scared was going to happen happened right before. And it's like, do you really believe the words that you're about to go preach? And I was just like, I have never felt more strong that the Lord has a message for these people because this is a message for me that I have been standing on that he has given me. And I'm just like, I know I have to do I just actually don't know how. And I tried to walk out of the room three times,
Starting point is 00:16:38 and I would walk back in my room. And then I thought, you know what? This is the power of walking with people, because I'm about to go walk in that room with all these people in my life who are my friends, who are my family, who are prayer warriors for our family. And I actually really need to be in that room
Starting point is 00:16:52 because I need prayer, and I need an empowerment of the spirit. I just want to worship. And so I cried through the whole thing. Everyone prayed for me. And I thought, okay this message is going to be interesting I'm probably just going to cry the whole time I talk
Starting point is 00:17:08 tonight but that's okay I'm just going to get it out and every single person in my life my parents my husband all my best friends were like we have never heard you speak more strong like you had so much authority it was so much strength and I even talked about kit and I didn't even cry
Starting point is 00:17:26 and it was like so cool and they were like it didn't even sound like you but not in a non-authentic way, but in like an authoritative way, like you believed it with all your heart. And I was like, I really believed it with all my heart. And I was standing on every single word because that word God's given me has gotten me through this. And it was like when I got up here, it shifted. It wasn't a message for me anymore. It's a message for you. And I was like, oh, you have to know this. You have to get this. I'm standing on every word of this. And I got to live out last night what it feels like to be empowered by the Holy Spirit.
Starting point is 00:18:02 And I told my friends today, that is a stone of remembrance for me yesterday. And I 100% did not plan on saying that. But as they were talking, I'm just like, yes, it's one thing to like hear it and say, oh, whoa, that's good. It's another thing to be like, I'm living that. I've experienced that. And that was yesterday. It was so beautiful.
Starting point is 00:18:23 And what I want to say to you who are watching, say, do something like that. this. One thing I see in her and I've learned from her and now I'm going to cry that I always say I'll learn from her is that is that vulnerability and that ability to walk in a room and say like, I'm not okay right now and allow other people to pray over her and to speak over to her. And I think that's a really hard thing to do sometimes because we want to look like we've got it all together. We want to look like we've got it figured out. We don't want to tell everybody the toxic things that are happening in our relationship or the bad things that are happening in our homes. But when we do that, we rob.
Starting point is 00:18:58 other people of being able to speak into our lives and to pray for us. So tell somebody, tell somebody what you're going through and allow them to pray of you. And I watched as Sadie did that, and every time we do that, you know, if you've ever come out and said, I'm going through something, what most of the time the other person says, oh, me too, or I went through that too. Then you realize like you're not alone in it. And a lot of times we can try to walk through this world alone, but we're not meant to be alone. That's why God gave us the church. He gave us a sisterhood because we're meant to be together
Starting point is 00:19:32 and we're meant to carry one another burdens. And so, but it starts with you saying, I need some help or I'm going through this or I'm struggling right now. So this time that you're together, use this time to do that. And I think that's really a beautiful thing what Sadie's done with the telephone booth too
Starting point is 00:19:50 is to say like, oh, we want to create a space that you can actually say, hey, I need help. I need, and I'm not going to just go to chat. for it or I'm not just going to look on Instagram or whoever says that they're an expert. I'm going to actually go to somebody that knows the Word of God and is going to speak truth into my life. So good. In the car last night when we were going home, I said, Mom, I bet that it's really hard for you to watch because as a mom, like, I'm just like sobbing. I don't know what to
Starting point is 00:20:16 do. I can't do it. And you were like so steady and so calm. And she said, it really actually was hard to watch because she said, I wanted to help you, but I really couldn't. But then, but then I this. She said, but I just knew, Sadie, the only way was through, like, the only way to get through that was literally to go through it. And I just knew the Lord was going to take you through it, but you were going to get through it. And so to the person who asked that about going through cancer, sometimes the only way to get through it is to go through it. But the Lord will meet you in such ways through it as I, even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for your honor, or something comfort me in what you get through it.
Starting point is 00:20:56 It's so important. And it's so, man, it'll build your faith for the days to come. And so beautiful, beautiful question. I love how y'all spoke into that. I'm always the one that's going to recommend a book. My kids know this. I'm always like, oh, there's a book for that because I love to read. But it brought to mine a book by friend.
Starting point is 00:21:16 Her name's Alicia Britt Chalet, and it's called The Night is Normal. And it is such an encouragement to read to say like, oh, this is normal to be going through these hard times. Sometimes as believers, we think, oh, you know, it should all be perfect and perky and all that. But it's not, if you look at Jesus's life, you look at every single person in the Bible's life, they go through parts of their life that is the night, that is the valley, that is the deep. And to just be encouraged in that, that, that is normal to go through that. It's not easy, but it's a great book. So I highly recommend. So true. And it's like you think that your story is so niche, you know, but then once you hear it,
Starting point is 00:21:56 That's exactly what I went through. That's exactly what I'm going through. That's why I like to play the voicemail because it's so amazing that you think like you're the only one. But there's so many people in here have such similar stories and one faithful God. When you said that about chat, this was cool. I just had to say this because last night I thought, you know, I said, and I didn't even delete chat. And that's so crazy because here I'm bashing it. But then I love what Ornika said this morning.
Starting point is 00:22:20 And she was like, and there's nothing wrong with a link, you know. It's just that if you go to that to put your hope in. And I was thinking that it's not that it's wrong to go get a recipe from chat, but it's when you put your hope in it. It's when it's like your mother. It's when you're going to it for the wrong thing. And I think you have to know, do I have this self-control to not teeter on the line of not just asking it for instructions for how to cook this meal, but asking it for what my next move is or asking it to come from me or asking it to be something it's not. And for me, very honestly, sometimes I do not have that self-control. And that's when I have to step away.
Starting point is 00:22:58 And so I think it's that discernment and knowing, like, has it become something it was never meant to be in making sure your hope is not in those false things. So I thought about that last night. I said, I wish I would have clarified. Then Anika said it. I was like, thank you, Lord. She put up where I left off. Sisterhood. I feel like here is one of those things that you don't always think about until you realize it could use a little extra love.

Starting point is 00:24:49 We have some more voicemails to get to. Hi, Sadie. As a girl in my 20s, I'm faced a lot of decisions. such as where I want to live or what I want to do. Could you please give advice on how do I discern what God is telling me, what decision to make versus what my own really desires are leading me towards or what maybe it's just my anxiety that's telling me to do? Yeah, thank you.
Starting point is 00:25:12 Okay, so we put this question out because this is the number one question we get asked. I mean, this voicemail so many times, how do I know if this is the Lord leading me in my next step? and I have asked all of you guys this for myself, so I'd love for all to speak into it. I think it's just, the Bible talks about wisdom in the multitude of counsel, and so making sure we're surrounding ourselves intentionally with other women who have gone before us, who can speak life into what we think could be the leaning of the Lord. I remember when Earl and I were getting ready to start our church, we talked to some mentors,
Starting point is 00:25:49 and they said, yes, you are called to do this, but they said, I think you should wait just a little bit longer. And even though we were so excited and like ready, I'm so thankful that we had someone around us who had gone before us because they were so right. And I didn't realize how hard it would be and how difficult it would be. And I didn't understand the spiritual warfare that came with it. And so that extra time,
Starting point is 00:26:13 I feel like sometimes if we just try to do things on our own and not attached to something not attached to the Lord, not attached to other women who have gone before us, who are praying with us, who are speaking life into us, you can find yourself isolated. And when you're isolated, you kind of do dumb stuff because it's just you. And it sounds good to you because you're alone and you're like, hey, I'm just going to move to a city where I know no one. But you don't have people praying for you that are encouraging you.
Starting point is 00:26:40 They're like, let's go on a scouting trip together. Let's go on a prayer trip and pray to see if this is the right city for you. Let's find you a great church so that when you're in this city by yourself, you're not really by yourself. Let's help you get involved in community. And so it's my long way of saying is being intentional with being planted with other women, other girls who are in the same, like who're going going to lead you in the right direction because I think we can fool ourselves. And sometimes when you tell yourself something over and over again, it sounds like a good idea. And it sounds like a God idea. But it's just because you were just in an echo chamber by yourself. And then before you
Starting point is 00:27:16 know it, you're like, hypping yourself up. You're like, yeah, I'm about to do this. But it might. not be the very best timing. But then, of course, if we do decide to leap by ourselves without anyone kind of to bounce it off of, God is so kind that he will also let us know. And then we can always go back home. Because there's grace for that as well when we just decide we're going to just do something without wisdom. But I just really believe in wisdom and having other people that are praying for me, safe people, of course, that have my best interest in mind. And I think we discount having sisters that are going to speak life over us. They're going to pray for us.
Starting point is 00:27:56 I think we live in such a like moment in time where it just feels better to just say I did it by myself. Like I started this by myself. I did this by myself. But when you do everything by yourself, it gets really lonely. And it's so fun to get to celebrate lives highs and also lows when you're intentional about having someone hold your hand. Does it mean you're weak?
Starting point is 00:28:18 I think sometimes we think asking for wisdom is a sign of weakness, but it's actually a sign of strength. Yeah, you know, I think sometimes this used to trip me up so much in my early 20s, like, will I miss the call of God? Will I miss the will of God? Should I live in Alaska? Should I live in Australia? Should I, you know, when people, you know, ask me about, how did you know you were moving to America from Australia? Well, that was like a two-year process. There was wisdom in the council of many. There was a lot of prayer. and there was asking God for confirmations. Now, not confirmations.
Starting point is 00:28:52 Like, if I go through the red light now and it turns green, then I meant to go. We're laughing because we've all done this. You know, marry people off of that. They're like, I wore blue, he wore blue. It's my husband. I know. No, no, no. Ask God for a godly confirmation.
Starting point is 00:29:14 There have been people that have come up, like even just backstage. I just heard somebody say three words to me. They didn't even know what they were saying just in a conversation, but it was confirming to what God was already speaking to in my heart. And when you position yourself to hear from God, but hear from God with an open hand for a no. Because I think a lot of us want to hear from God for the yes, but so many noes have saved me from making really dumb decisions.
Starting point is 00:29:45 And I think we have to have wisdom and counsel. all we have to pray, have to get those confirmations. But also, don't stress. The Bible says that the steps of a good man, in this case, a good woman, are ordered by the Lord. And we sometimes don't understand his ways. But when you delight yourself in the Lord, not in yourself, you delight yourself in the Lord, he will give you those desires because they're aligned with his desires. And he will guide you every step of the way. And I've made a few mistakes. along the way. And I just love the way God does a few U-turns, he does a few roundabouts, because his sovereignty will get us to where he needs us to go. So don't stress too much.
Starting point is 00:30:29 Walk the walk with the Lord and know he's going to direct all your path. Ditto, ditto. And then just to truncate simply, I always need a hook to hang truths on. And so think chip, salsa, and queso. Or, um, blow out lashes and spanks. There's triplicate. Better yet, Father's Son and Holy Spirit, but there's three things to remember when it, I'm a little hungry, so I went to chips in case of.
Starting point is 00:31:01 But when you think of following the will of God, I so agree with what Alex said, we tend to think there's some red X and I'll miss it. God is so kind. And he communicates to us in a way we can understand it. So he says, here's the three ways you'll discern my voice. One is through my word. This is not a rulebook.
Starting point is 00:31:20 This is not a collection of benign morality details. This is a love story. And he gives us parameters. And Isaiah, he says, I will tell you when to turn to the left. And when to turn to the right. So chat, GBT, pails next to the Word of God. So he reveals his will to us through his word. This is living, y'all.
Starting point is 00:31:39 This isn't flat. It's not boring. We have some boring Bible teachers. But this is 10 times better than Netflix. So it's the Word of God. It's the spirit of God. Alex said prayer. You don't have to pray King James prayers.
Starting point is 00:31:54 There doesn't have to be any of these and those. But as you come to Lord with your questions, through Holy Spirit, through prayer, he will answer you. And then it's the council of many. So there's those three things. So when I have a question, I'll go, Sadie, will you pray for me? Corey, have you done this before? God, I'm going to bring that same question to your word. And then I'm like, oh, wowser, it's in here.
Starting point is 00:32:17 And then I'll commit myself to prayer. And sometimes I pray, it's not always formal. I might be hiking or walking or driving to get chips in Kesa. And so if you'll think, God reveals himself to us. He's not trying to punk us or trip us up. He will tell you the way if you'll bring those questions to him through his word, through Revelation of Holy Spirit, and through safe believers who is, oh, said, who are first of all for your relationship with God.
Starting point is 00:32:48 That's right. They're for you. Their whole role in your life is I want to see you even more and more restored to God. So find a safe sisterhood. There's a good one that meets in Louisiana once a year. And then the Word of God and the Spirit of God. That's great. That's really good.
Starting point is 00:33:04 That's so good. I love all of that. I think I was thinking about for me, he doesn't always give me really clear answers. And sometimes when I think he does, then I'm like, wait, I thought you said this. And it's different, you know, because we are in this world. And, you know, there are a lot of things that God is doing that we cannot even fathom or understand. And so for me, a lot of times it looks like this. Wait, God, I thought you said yes, and you had this for me, but that didn't work out.
Starting point is 00:33:39 And then five years later, I'm like, oh, that's why that didn't work out. And that's what, or that's what you taught me. And you didn't have that, but you were teaching me this in this. And so it's like sometimes it takes time to see what God is doing in his yeses and in his nose. Even if you think for the moment that, oh, this is where I'm going and then it changes. But if you trust in God in his goodness and his marking your path, then you can look at it and see it. for what it is. I was like, oh, it wasn't actually that when I thought it was that. It was this that he was doing in my life then, or this is what he was teaching for me and that. I always go back to this
Starting point is 00:34:25 Mother Teresa quote that I love so much. And it was this time when this man came up to her and he said, well, you pray for me? And she said, what would you like for me to pray for? And he said, we pray that I have clarity. And she said, no, I won't pray for that. She said, I've never had clarity. I'll pray that you have faith because that's what you need to have. And it was just this beautiful thing. It was like, God's not necessarily going to lay it all out for you for you to know exactly what he has for you. But he just says, trust me, have faith. Take one step in front of another.
Starting point is 00:35:00 And it also takes a lot of pressure off you to say like, oh, I don't have to have my next 10 years planned out. I just need to be faithful. Get up the next morning and walk in the path he has laid out for me today. And he'll be with, trust that he's with you. I feel like the best furniture is the kind that makes your house feel more like you without making you work way too hard to get there. And that has definitely been my experience with the article. We have several article pieces. And y'all, look, actually have them right now.
Starting point is 00:35:27 This little swivel lounge chair, so amazing. And this side table, which has been so awesome once I wanted to kind of refurnish the podcast studio because I love their stuff. And it made my podcast studio feel so, so homey. It's a perfect little thing. not like too loud, too bright. It's just great and super cozy. And that's one of my favorite things about article. Their pieces have enough character to stand on their own, but they also work together really naturally. So the whole room feels really put together without looking overly matchy, matchy. Like you can see, I wanted a blue chair because everything's blue, but it doesn't like stand out as a
Starting point is 00:36:01 blue chair. It just kind of fits with everything. Our furniture arrives super easy, high quality. These are well-made pieces. And so much of the furniture arrives already assembled, which a huge win and your husbands will thank you. That's article.com slash woe for $50 off your first purchase of your.
Starting point is 00:36:41 your first purchase of $100 or more. And Corey, don't you think that it is imperative for us to take the next right step? Yeah. Because I think sometimes we get paralysis analysis and we're just like, which way do I move? But what you said so well is he says, I've ordered my steps for you. And his boundary lines are going to fall in pleasant places. Eugene Peterson says obedience is a long walk in the same direction. I've walked crooked, but if I keep stumbling toward God, I'm going to fall forward.
Starting point is 00:37:15 And it's just like you said, you go, oh, this was in his good plans for you. But I had to mess up sometimes to get to that place. Well, and I love that you said, like, keep stepping. Sadie and I were talking about the day. I said, my favorite parable is the parable of the talents because it's such a reflection of God and who he is and him delighting in us just doing something. And the servant that he was not happy with that he didn't give more blessings, he was the one who buried his talents.
Starting point is 00:37:46 And the reason he buried his talents, I think, is the most important part, is because he thought God was a harsh God. He thought God was going to judge him if he lost something. But God was saying, no, no, take risk, take the step. I want to walk with you in this. I want to run with you in this. And so God is asking us to just keep, take. making steps. Don't sit and bury our talents. If you mess up, he's with you. And he'll,
Starting point is 00:38:12 he'll carry you, you'll teach you something in it. It's so refreshing. How many of you are so grateful for that, just run of wisdom? That was a treasure. That's such a run of wisdom that we all needed to hear. Train. That is so funny. Because there is a train right beside the podcast studio, and I'll often have to stop for train. And here we are. That's so funny. But no, I was going to say, actually this week I was kind of like thinking about that. I was like, what's something this next step I need to take? And I got on the phone with someone who's an incredible leader that I really am inspired by. And she's just amazing.
Starting point is 00:38:48 She's led so many things so well. And she's the kind of person that like when she opens her mouth, like the stuff that comes out of it is just water for the soul. And so I was just so encouraged to get to talk to her. Well, then as she's kind of talking and I'm asking, okay, how do I know if it's the lure? Like it sounds kind of crazy. and she said, do you think that every time I feel like it's from the Lord that I actually like know that that's what the Lord said? And she was kind of saying it rhetorically, but I kind of what is like, I mean, yeah,
Starting point is 00:39:16 I kind of do sometimes think that. Like, because in our, you know, humanity and sometimes in our youth, like we look at people like them and we're like, oh, thus saith the Lord to them. They hear from the Lord. I don't think my ears are working yet, but one day it's going to work, you know? Like, I'm going to hear it like they hear it. But like the more I've talked to women like them who lead so beautifully, they hear like we hear. It's not this loud, thus say, with the Lord, it's this still small voice of the Lord speaking that they've learned to trust.
Starting point is 00:39:48 So it's not that he speaks louder. It's just that their trust has become greater. And so when she said that to me on the phone, I thought, wow, she hears like I hear. And I hear his voice. And I know I hear his voice because I've heard his voice many of times. Actually, Alex said this to me in a voicemail this week. She said, do you remember the first time you thought Kit's name was going to be Kit?
Starting point is 00:40:10 And it was just this kind of like idea of like, oh, I think I'm going to name her kit. And then how God confirm her name to you. She's like, think about times like that when you first heard it. And it was kind of felt even random or maybe like, oh, okay, that's just a thought. But then God kept confirming it, like that confirmation. And then this mentor on the phone with me this week said, God's going to speak in those nudges where you're going to know. I don't really know why I'm thinking about this one thinking about it.
Starting point is 00:40:33 then he'll confirm it. And then he really speaks through unity. So like you said, that community, people coming around it going, yes, that's a really good idea. You should follow in that. Or people are saying, hey, actually, maybe wait a little bit for that and lean into that and listen and let people speak. And so just, it was so refreshing for me to hear and have that revelation that they hear like I hear. And they trust like I have to be willing to trust. And you're going to gain that trust and grow in that trust, but the more times you think you hear him and you act upon that. I heard a testimony this morning, also from the makeup room. Love a little girl chat. And it was about a moment that she had last year in this session. Whenever Carrie was singing over
Starting point is 00:41:16 here, she felt that she heard the Lord say something. It was so sacred to her and it felt so big. She wrote it down and didn't tell anybody. The only person she told was her mom because it just felt so close to home. And then fast forward a year later, and the Lord actually did. do what he spoke, but in a completely different way than he, she ever thought he would do it. And she was just testifying today that like, man, that was, she was like, I'm so encouraged, because it was not the way I thought this was going to happen. And it's so cool and it's so amazing. She said, but I was really just encouraged that I can hear the voice of the Lord, you know? And so these things that you feel like you're hearing, write them down. I love to write
Starting point is 00:41:53 stuff down and go back and look at it. And it's just a reminder, okay, I heard that right. Lord, you were speaking in that little nudge and that little whisper. So I think that's really good advice. The last voice memo we have is an emotional one, but I just want to say this is another very, very, very common one that we get. And so I wanted to play it for the sake of understanding there's so many women who can relate who are walking through this struggle. And we're actually going to talk more about this, I believe, tonight and more to come.
Starting point is 00:42:22 But we have other podcast episodes on this. But for the sake of sisterhood, I did. I want to share this voice with them. Hi, my name's Shiley, and man, my heart is erasing right now asking this question. Me and my husband have been trying to have a child for the last five years, because it's how long we've been married. And we were talking about, like, how children are a gift from God. So how am I supposed to receive that when we are having so much trouble with conceiving?
Starting point is 00:42:51 Sorry, not being to get emotional, but it's just a hard season. I love your podcast, love your show. Thank you so much. I was that woman who waited five years and I was told that I couldn't have babies and I had a condition called hyperprolectanemia. It's just a fancy word that had a little pituitary gland tumor that told my body that it was already pregnant. And if you've ever been in biology class, you can't get pregnant while you're pregnant. And so they just said, you know, you're probably, you know, have to go on this chemotherapy drug because the tumour's too small for us to operate in. It's very delicate part of the brain.
Starting point is 00:43:34 We'll try this drug and we'll see. But, you know, maybe just think of the fact that you may not have children. The crazy thing is, is that when I was single, I remember getting a prophetic word over my life that I discarded because I kind of just went, okay, I want to be a preacher to the nation. and you're prophesying that this woman comes up to me, she goes, I just see you with a daughter and a son. And I wasn't even dating anyone. I'm like, okay.
Starting point is 00:44:02 And I threw that away. But isn't it crazy that the Lord knew I needed that when I got married and then I was given this diagnosis? And when I went in to pray, I remember thinking, well, I'm just going to pray and God's going to just do the miracle. And it didn't happen that way. and there were seasons of discouragement. This is how I began to pray.
Starting point is 00:44:26 I'm actually going to talk a little bit into this tonight, and we're going to pray for people tonight, and so get ready if you want to come, ready to... I have such great authority in faith for wounds because I had to go through it myself. And the prayers were... I appealed to God's nature as creator. He is the only one that author's life.
Starting point is 00:44:52 No one else can author life but the Father. His first command was to be fruitful and to multiply. And so when I went into prayer, I didn't go in begging and pleading and hoping in the sense of wishing. I went in and I appealed to God's nature, the nature that said to us be fruitful and multiply. And I began to appeal to the nature of God as healer. that by His stripes I am healed. And when I went to pray for that, I just began to make declarations. I didn't pray in fear. I prayed with faith. But then I left it to the Lord because sometimes we can pray and pray in desperate hope that we are going to get this answer tomorrow. And what happens when we don't get the answer that we are hoping for? So then where I had to land is you are my fulfillment. I'm going to
Starting point is 00:45:50 leave what you can do up to you. And in the meantime, I'm going to relinquish all that control, all that fear, because even if I'm never to be with child, I will still be fulfilled because my family is Henry and myself. And maybe God, you're going to call me to adopt a child. Maybe you're going to call me to be a spiritual mother, because sometimes I think we get so boxed in thinking, I have to have this child. So I had to let go of the if it never happened, but appealed to the nature of God and had firm faith. And five years later, God gave me, Holly, and then in the middle of that, I had a
Starting point is 00:46:36 miscarriage. And then I had Taylor. And so I don't understand the ways of God. All I know to do is pray from a place of faith, appeal to the very nethered. appeal to the very nature of God and know that he is the author of life. And then I must relinquish that I must have the outcome to God. You are my fulfillment. And what you choose for my life, I am content with. And I'm telling you, you will live in a freedom. But what I learned for me is that God had to take me through that process so that I would gain an authority of faith so that now
Starting point is 00:47:12 I can be an overflow of hope to other people and see wombs open. But just keep believing. Just keep praying. But maybe God's going to speak to you about adoption. Maybe God's going to speak to you about fostering. You just never know the ways of God, but I tell you what, he will answer you in Jesus' name. Beautiful. Thank you, Alex.
Starting point is 00:47:32 Thank you for sharing. That's so beautiful. Wow. Wow. Wow. Wow. This has been fantastic. And I'm so grateful for what God is doing in this.
Starting point is 00:47:42 room, but I am picturing all the girls and guys out there listening to this podcast in their room. Maybe you're listening to it on your way to and from from work. Maybe you're listening to it in your dorm room. Maybe you're sitting there with your child, rocking them to sleep, wherever you are. I just hope that you feel seen in this moment, that you're a part of the sisterhood and community. And Alex, if you would. I know you're going to pray over this room tonight, but would you pray over our listeners as we close this podcast episode? Because this is bigger than a podcast episode. And I just know that the Holy Spirit is moving in hearts all over the world who are listening to this at all random times, but I believe that you've heard this at the right time, that God
Starting point is 00:48:20 is going to use this to increase your faith. And I always pray this before the podcast, but that these words would be like an answer prayer to praise your prayers. Praying. So even if you've been praying to God and we're sitting here saying the very thing you're praying, let that be a sign that he hears you, that he's speaking to you. And Alex, would you just pray over them and bless them? Yeah. Father, we just thank you for this conversation. every single word, God, I pray that it would penetrate into hearts and lives. God, that your word, it's a double-edged sword, and I pray that it just cuts through soul, spirit, joint and marrow, and it does and accomplishes what it's set out to do. God, I pray for those people that are weak in faith,
Starting point is 00:48:57 those people that are confused with direction, those people that are in relationships right now where they just feel they can't get out. God, you have given us, God, your spirit that lives in us, greater is he that is in us than out in that world. And so, God, I pray that we would align with your heart, that we would bind our mind to the mind of Christ, and that we would trust your word. You are good, and your mercy enduous forever. So God, lift our eyes, lift our faith, and realize that you are good and you have good plans for us. But God, we put our lives into your hands, and we say we trust you. So bless every single listener right now. And I I pray that you would bring a miracle into their household whatever they need right now because you're a good father.
Starting point is 00:49:47 In Jesus, mighty name, amen. Amen. Can you all thank these amazing ladies. That's so beautiful. That's so powerful.
