Starting point is 00:01:10 Check, check. There we go. Mousy, tweaky sensitive. That's just blasted my drums out. Here we go. Welcome to the Wild Times. We are in the studio. We're doing it.
Starting point is 00:01:18 This might be the earliest we ever recorded a podcast in the day. Not that it might be. It is by a good 90 minutes. There you go. Well, it is the earliest, which is why there's a bunch of caffeine being had. I'm having a magic mind max.
Starting point is 00:01:31 Yeah, I'm having a magic mind. I'm going to do that too. I've been off caffeine, but dude, let me ask you this. Why did we have to start so early today? Well, I have two days exactly in California this month. Yesterday was one of them. Well, two days with my family and tomorrow is the other and then I leave again. So today, being Friday afternoon is when my family goes and does something, they go to the pool on Fridays. And I was like, I'll make it for that. Because Jessica was like, really, you're home for two days, or three days, you're going to go spend a whole one of them in the studio. Sure. Which I wanted to because I wanted to drink a bunch of lights try. Sure.
Starting point is 00:02:04 Did you tell her how much money we don't make for doing? Well, that's part of the problem. She's like, you just do this for fun. I'm like, yeah, I know, but it's really fun. Yeah. What's been going on? So where were you? I just got back from a stint where I went from home to Louisiana.
Starting point is 00:02:23 Remember, right? We talked to you guys on the bonus. Did we do a bonus pod? Yeah, from Louisiana. Showed you some of those shark shots. Do the oil rigs. then went to North Carolina for two days, then went to Palm Beach,
Starting point is 00:02:34 then down to the Florida Keys, and then home. What was going on in the Keys? Oh, man. Here, Kyle, Kyle, can you pull up? We definitely did some booze in on the last night. Kyle, pull up some of those clips I sent you.
Starting point is 00:02:46 Look at this guy. That is not a bull shark. Do you now know what it is? A saw no shark? A sawfish? One of 500 adult saw green sawfish. Sorry, small two sawfish left. the entire world. Wow. How did you,
Starting point is 00:03:01 did they know where it was or did you just happen upon it or did you? I was a couple things. No, no, I don't mind. I mean, one, you know, wow. I don't know why the audio sounds so bad on that. By the way, let's pause. That's a perfect frame because the, the upside down of the sawfish is like the best most cuddly animal in the world. Very smile. Smiley with two eyes. It's like an emoji. Yeah, we're currently doing a feature for Shark Week on some of the coolest species in
Starting point is 00:03:30 North America, which is why I'm bouncing around the country so much to film sharks. And, you know, I linked up with my buddy Chris, who's on the right-hand side of me there and his research team. And, you know, we, by the way, do you know what I'm holding there? Is that penis? Double penis, baby. Really? Yeah, those are some nice dicks, too. Those are nice dicks.
Starting point is 00:03:51 Lie to me and tell me those aren't good looking dead. A little bit shorter than mine. Dude, those are two feet long. I don't know. Okay. Real quick. What is? Mitch wearing.
Starting point is 00:04:02 Yeah. Dude. So if you're just listening, Forest and five other people are all in like full on fishing gear. Yeah. Your buddy Chris is wearing a t-shirt and board shorts on a, what's that, a 24-foot fishing boat?
Starting point is 00:04:18 It's about right. Yeah. Okay. Mitch is wearing a fucking Canada goose Winter Arctic Explorer jacket and what looks to be a pair of pleated khakis. Yes. Well, you know, he didn't know if he had a golf game later. What's he doing?
Starting point is 00:04:32 Why is he so cold? In his defense, it was fucking freezing. So we all passed to Florida. Well, no, he doesn't right there, but you can see now zoomed out a little bit. I mean, it was howling wind in like 55 degrees. In the Florida Keys, and he was the one complaining the most
Starting point is 00:04:49 about cold, bar none. Also, what is Mitch's job on this Shark Week show? Do we ever know what Mitch's job is? Well, besides being the DP, is he not one of the main producers? Yeah, he is. And he chose to wear the loudest coat possible in extreme ways. He's,
Starting point is 00:05:06 look, he's still, he's a producer in progress. Okay. It's a PIP, okay. All right. Sorry, that softish is awesome. How long is that thing? 14.6 feet. It was huge.
Starting point is 00:05:17 Yeah, one of 500 adult breeding aged, small two softfish left. So we teamed up with Florida State, no, I don't know, whatever university this was. FSU. Yeah, FSM. I think it's FSU. Yeah, Florida State. Yep, yep, yep. And yeah, then we went and we fished inside a marine park because we had permits to
Starting point is 00:05:39 to catch and tag giant sawfish. And it was crazy because Kyle, I'm going to send you some drone shots right now too because they're awesome. I just got them this morning. It was crazy because so the way you fish for sawfish is with long lines, right? So you're not just like fishing with a rod and reel. So you set down an anchor and a buoy and then you set 50 hooks along the bottom with bait. and then you set another anchor in buoy. By the time you're done setting it,
Starting point is 00:06:02 you basically go and retrieve it again. How deep of water is this? Eight feet. Oh, so they like shallow. Oh, yeah. They like that shallow, super murky colored water. Okay.
Starting point is 00:06:11 And it was crazy because I was talking to the FSU guys and I was like, how's it been? He's like, well, we came once like two weeks ago. You know, we did five days of sets of like six sets a day, didn't get a single sawfish. It's not looking good.
Starting point is 00:06:23 I was like, fuck, that sucks. And he's like, yeah, you know, but we'll try it now. Like my buddies, my buddies have seen some recently that are in the research program. You never know. So we go, we set this long line, 50 hooks down. First hook has a shark on it, not a sawfish, but like a little black tip.
Starting point is 00:06:39 Second hook has nothing. Third hook has like a nurse shark. Seventh hook we pull this thing up. Wow. Yeah, literally seventh hook. And it takes us, you know, half an hour. We work it up. We put a tag in it.
Starting point is 00:06:50 We take blood. We do the genetics. We do everything. Release a sawfish happily. And then we were like, fuck, that was awesome. I'm like, I kind of believe we just got one. Let's do more sets. We did four more sets that day.
Starting point is 00:07:01 Nothing. Then I was like, well, we got our sawfish. We don't need to keep filming. We'll call this a day early because we allotted two days to this. And they were going to tag for five days. They're now on the fourth day. Haven't seen another sawfish. Wow, dude.
Starting point is 00:07:14 So just like tremendous luck. Tremendous luck. Literally the seventh hook. Do you think, isn't that weird like that? That's something, man, in the universe. Oh, can I tell you what it is? You ready for me to get fucking weird with you? It needed a jerk off and it knew.
Starting point is 00:07:27 so it came to you. Pretty much. No, dude, well, I mean, you saw me holding those dicks.
Starting point is 00:07:31 I did. I made a joke about it and none of the, uh, the female scientists thought it was funny at all. Of course. Super weird. The guys all chuckled and like,
Starting point is 00:07:41 like, like, side smirk trying to be serious and the girls were like, nah, I hate this guy. They are now the ones that are going to go back to Reddit and make a post about how much they hate you. Of course.
Starting point is 00:07:50 Yeah. Because they're, they're doing super science. I'm like, check out these nice dicks. It's like a joke. I feel like I'm playing the toy. I may or may not have done the open mouth like false and vibe.
Starting point is 00:08:03 Man, that poor softet. That's obviously not going to make the show and the women did not think it was funny. But the guys had a mild chuckle. So it was worth it. It's good. It's worth it. So you wanted to talk about the luck. It's, I mean, you know this too from when we've been on trips together.
Starting point is 00:08:19 Like, and I don't want to jinx myself, so I'm going to knock on wood. But by saying it out loud, what? Why are you making that face? Why do you have wood? I always have wood. You don't walk around with a half chub? Well, if you're just listening, Forrested, I'm a knock on wood and knocked on his crotch. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:32 It's asking him way. It's another funny joke similar to the hemmy peony joke. Morning wood, I get it. Well, it's two. Wait, did you show the drone shots though? Dron shots are sick. Okay. They're pretty cool.
Starting point is 00:08:42 Anyway, I believe, and Patrick will support this. I have tremendous luck with animals, like, unparalleled. Sure. To the point of like, how the fuck did you catch a snake? lose it, hike out of the jungle, then hike back into the jungle and catch that same snake again kind of thing. Yeah. Like it makes no sense. How did you find eight extinct animals?
Starting point is 00:09:05 Right. And it's because, and it's not because I'm such a good person, it's because what I'm trying to do is help the animals, help the universe. Yeah. So fucking mother nature, God, Gandhi, whatever you want to call it, throws me a bone. I swear to God. Karma, they're like, this guy's actually here for a good purpose. I believe it, dude. He's here to help promote the critically endangered.
Starting point is 00:09:27 small to sawfish are super imperiled and he somehow figured out how to get them on discovery instead of the 5,000 fucking boring ass great white shark show and make something out of these animals that are underfeatured so I'm going to throw him a bone. Yeah. Karma, nature, fucking list a bunch of deities, whatever you like is like this guy's going to get lucky.
Starting point is 00:09:46 It's God working through you, bro. Whatever. I'm not saying your God. Hold on. Settle down. I did not call you God. Kyle, would you click that out and send that to me? What a head on that guy.
Starting point is 00:09:57 But the Key West Aquarium, like their featured thing, was always that they had a sawfish. Oh, interesting. Have you ever been to that aquarium? I've never been to the U.S. It's tiny. Okay. So, yeah, you've got this tiny aquarium. And then they have this outdoor pen.
Starting point is 00:10:11 See if they still have the sawfish. But you could, you didn't have to enter the aquarium to stand at the sawfish enclosure. Oh, cool. So like, you know, it was a thousand people see, you know, just holding booze. And you could just kind of stand there and wait and see if you could see the sawfish. I wonder if they still have it. By the way, very, very smart marketing right there. Yeah, allowing that to be public and then everybody just...
Starting point is 00:10:33 See that? That's the... Oh, I see it there. By the way, scroll up to the very top of the website quickly. Peter, as a... No, the very top, please, Kyle. It's called the top part. Never mind. It's gone. It's gone. It was just a terrible image.
Starting point is 00:10:48 It was that, but I thought it was static. I was going to have Peter weigh in on how bad it is. But now that I know it's interactive... I will say it's a tiny... aquarium. The thing about Key West is it's always 99 with 99% humidity. Right. So you're just dying and you're like, I'll just pay 30 bucks to go look at some fish in awesome air conditioning. But they do have like probably the coolest octopus I've ever seen. Kyle, how did you know this? This was what I was about to say is the Long Beach aquarium has an awesome sawfish thing. Oh, I've been there like 15 times.
Starting point is 00:11:19 Wow. That's how he knows. Yeah. He's a huge loser. Wait, so is this a type of shark? No, so it's a ray. It's a stingray. So there are, this is actually really interesting. There are five species of soft fish in the world. And they are, if you want to be shark weeky, sure, definitely.
Starting point is 00:11:37 Flat sharks, because a flat shark is a stingray. A stingray is just a compressed shark. They diverged off the same evolutionary branch several million years ago. So, I'm going to, is it a little bit of knowledge? Wait, so do they have the thing where they must keep moving to so that the water goes over their gills? No. No. There's a lot of sharks that don't do that.
Starting point is 00:11:56 a lot of rays. I just wanted to pretend I knew something about animals. Oh, sorry, sorry. Yeah, very good observation. Thank you. Um, no, so there's five species of sawfish in the world. These are all evolved from stingrays. But there are also two species. This is actually really good bit of fucking
Starting point is 00:12:14 little, for the brocesters. There are two species of saw sharks. So a sawfish, and the difference between a stingray and a shark, by the way, is the gill placement. If the gills are on top of the head, it's a stingers. Ray, if the gills are on the side of the head, it's a shark. Oh, interesting. That's basically
Starting point is 00:12:30 the entire difference. There are two kinds of saw sharks in the world. Correct me from Roncal. There's two, right? You're seeing an image with two there? He doesn't know. Yeah, but he's supposed to be Googling. This is a son of a bitch. He's working on it. God, give him a bra. Three. Three. Okay. Oh, right. Sorry, yes. So there's three species...
Starting point is 00:12:46 God damn it! Because of course there's a Bahamas. This gets so much more interesting. Wait, just fucking buckle up, right? I'll feed you baby birds. Buckled in. All right. So there's three types of saw sharks, which means they haven't evolved from stingrays. They've evolved from sharks to have a chainsaw for a face. Now, two of them, you see there.
Starting point is 00:13:03 One of them I actually dove with in Australia last year for Shark Week. It was fucking awesome. But the third one, Kyle, we've moved on. We've moved on from this. He's Chad GPT. He is. The third one is the Bahamas saw shark. All right.
Starting point is 00:13:18 I'm looking at it. Are you ready for this? Yes. One specimen in history ever found 60, 70 years ago, by a Noah boat that was conducting deep sea trawling, literally only one individual of this species ever. Wow. True lost shark, lost animal, extinct or alive, blah, blah, blah kind of animal.
Starting point is 00:13:39 Yeah. One that I think, and if you're a brosner out there and you're listening and you have millions of dollars, let's do this. Yeah. One that I think would be so easy to rediscover because nobody's doing this work. So what happened was, Kyle, see, if you can find when the one and only Bahamas saw shark was found, What happened was Noah, which was actually called something else at the time. Like from Noah's art?
Starting point is 00:14:02 No. No, come on. You know what Noah is. No, the National Oceanic. They're the one that finds underwater alien bases. Yes, the National Oceanic Alcoholics Anonymous. Noah was conducting deep sea research. Does it say what, you're, Kyle?
Starting point is 00:14:19 The Bahamas Saw Shark. Trying to find it. Okay. I want to say it was like the 60s, maybe 70s. And so what they were doing, to figure out species there was doing this deep sea trawling, right? So they were dragging a net down at like thousands of feet and sampling for species. They found one and only one, 1960. Okay. They found one and only one of these saw sharks. And then we're like, all right, you know, like we don't have any more
Starting point is 00:14:42 money. This was like a one week study. It wasn't like a 10 year project. Yeah. And then they're like, all right, we think there's a Bahamian saw shark, you know, because we found this one in the deep sea. nobody since 1960 has ever sampled by catching stuff in that deep sea. So there's fucking probably hundreds of new species, definitely dozens of new species, plus this truly lost extinct or alive fucking sawshark. So if you're a brosner out there and you either have a deep sea trawler or, you know, $700,000 to burn, let's go find a fucking Bahamas saw shark. So why is this one hanging out 600 feet deep?
Starting point is 00:15:17 Nobody knows. Yeah, all right. That's what's so cool about it. Do it for the YouTube, bro. The YouTube champ. Yeah, yeah, YouTube makes that much. We can easily spend 600 grand or so on a deep-sea trawler and get the permits. You can use your connects to find somebody with a deep-seat trawl.
Starting point is 00:15:32 That's why I'm pitching it right now to everybody watching. Well, it's not going to be the prosners. No, probably not. But I think the bigger issue would be getting permits from the Bahamas because it's Caribbean permitting is just a nightmare. Oh, it is? But, you know, it's just really difficult to get them to approve stuff. Is that because they're protecting things or because,
Starting point is 00:15:50 No, it's just the bureaucracy of the Caribbean. And, you know, island time is a saying for a reason. Right. You got to call them, like, between the hours of 11 p.m. and 1230 a.m. our time. It's crazy, man. I mean, I lived in Key West for like three or four months. Uh-huh. And, you know, it's an island.
Starting point is 00:16:10 Yeah. They are very much on island time. Yeah. And me and my buddy were just trying to get jobs at bars. Yeah. And so we went to, like, all these bars just, like, walking up and down to Duval Street. and there's like, ah, yeah, the manager's not here.
Starting point is 00:16:24 I was like, oh, do you know when they'll be back? They're like, I don't know. Yeah, no idea. I had a shoot there like 15 years ago. Peter, you probably remember this because I think you were an A.E. Tell me. When we were filming the street performers.
Starting point is 00:16:37 Oh, yeah. I remember. But I was trying to line up like a local camera guy. And I fucking called, you know, I'd gotten a recommendation of this guy who was like the photographer for like the Key West newspaper. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:50 Which they probably just put it out whenever they feel like that. Of course, yeah. So I called this guy, left him a message. It's called Island Times. I swear to God, over a year later, I get a voicemail. And it was the guy calling me back, being like, man, I was going through some stuff. Would love to do a job. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:10 It's like over a year later. And to be clear, that's still as part of the United States. Yeah. And not to be like a racist or. nationalist or whatever, but now go to another country. Sure. Where it's even more of a bureaucratic mess. Plus the island time. It's like...
Starting point is 00:17:27 Well, speaking of island time, I do have an actual great segue here. Huge heat wave this spring in California. You guys know I have a lot of animals in my place. You know, we've got the horses, the donkey, the peacocks. When the heat hits, the bugs hit. Oh, yeah. The flies, dude, around my house, when this little heat wave kicked in, insane. Yeah. In vain. By the way, at my house, it's Black Widow spiders because there are a thousand where I like.
Starting point is 00:17:55 Well, not anymore for me. I'll tell you why. Why is that? Pesty. Yeah. Kid and pet friendly because I have both of those things running around. Do it yourself. Literally mix it with the bag, comes with the sprayer. Spray it around where I know the flies are congregating. Went from flies all over the ceiling in my house at night to no flies. You can essentially skip the exterminator and do it yourself for way cheaper. I had a monthly, I had a guy. come do it every month because I can't have black widows just all over my house and they get in. And I love that I can just do this myself. It's like 35 bucks per treatment. Yep. And really effective. I've already had to do it, obviously, because it's gotten so hot. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:35 Works incredibly well. Professional grade. Legit. It works just as good as the pros. It's not just the flies and the spiders. Over 100 different kinds of insects, right? Invasive Argentinian ants, roaches, spiders, scorpions, everything takes off with this stuff. Get bugs out of your house with Pesty.
Starting point is 00:18:51 Go to Pesty.com slash wild for an extra 10% off your order. That's P-E-S-T-I-E. dot com slash wild for an extra 10% off. This message is sponsored by Raycon. Retep, you've got a mom. I've got a mom. I do. Both have wives.
Starting point is 00:19:07 Mother's Day is around the corner. That's four gifts that we need to buy. What are your ideas for right now? What do you got? Dude, give me something. Actually really stoked because I got the new RayCon everyday earbud classics. You know, I, I love Raycon, legit.
Starting point is 00:19:24 They're the only headphones I use now. And I was so happy they came out with a, with a new type of earbud. You know, I love the open ear ones, but sometimes I actually don't want to hear everything. Like when I'm at the gym and it's blasting loud music. Right. In the cardio area. So these new ones, dude, the everyday classics, they're great, man. They fit.
Starting point is 00:19:45 They're so comfortable in the ear. Same great features at Raycon. that we're used to with the 36 hours of charging, 10 minute, 90 minutes, use for a 10 minute quick charge, great colors. And dude, they got a 30-day happiness guarantee. So even if my mom doesn't like them, she can, we could send them back and get her different version of RICOMs. She's not going to do that. Celebrate the moms in your life.
Starting point is 00:20:11 Go to buy Raycon.com slash wild times to get 15% off the everyday earbuds. Classic. Thank you, Raycon for sponsoring. I am up 20 pounds since the beginning of the year. Wow, dude. Yeah. Wow. 20 pounds of my biggest I've ever been by far.
Starting point is 00:20:27 Yeah. I texted you about my accomplishment on the bench press I was very excited about. You know what it is? I swear to God, there's only one change I've made. What's that? I'm just eating, I'm eating way more protein. And it was always a priority, but I couldn't figure out a way to consistently do it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:45 Yeah. And I finally figured that out. And that's by using factor meals. Oh, yeah, dude. No brainer. It's great. It's fixed. It's like, it's changed my life.
Starting point is 00:20:55 Yeah. Oh, dude. I mean, I've lost a good 15 pounds, been able to keep it off for months now. Longest I've been able to keep it off literally in like a decade purely by using factors just because, first of all, the nutrition, it's got everything for your goals in it. So, like, it's got your veg. It's got your protein. It's got your carbs, your veg. I don't eat that stuff unless it is done conveniently for me and taste good.
Starting point is 00:21:22 Right. So it's like Factor just hits all the marks for me, man. It's fresh, never frozen. Over 100 rotating weekly meals. One of my faves, which I just had yesterday, the smoky barbecue chicken breast, loved it. Gave it to my kids, they loved it too. Just so easy, so convenient. It's the easiest way to eat healthy, delicious food.
Starting point is 00:21:44 And it's legitimately, in my opinion, cheaper than going to great. grocery shopping, head to factormeals.com slash wild 50 off and use the code wild 50 off to get 50% off and free daily greens per box with new subscription only while supplies last until 927, 2026. See website for more details. You guys know it's been in the news quite a bit lately. There's an island right here off the coast of California where there's some big news happening with the deer forest. That was a good segue by the way, Peter. It's awful. Awful. I'm going to fucking leave. I liked it.
Starting point is 00:22:20 I liked it. I was joking. He was just being me. I was totally joking. Grim. Yeah, there's some deer that are, there's been an issue with some deer on Catalina Island out here off the coast of California. If you're a Southern California resident,
Starting point is 00:22:34 you're aware that Catalina Island is the Mediterranean. It's the Greece of Southern California. Yes. You go there, it's clear water. Everybody's a harbor with boats, people partying. It's great. It's great. great. Now, during the 1920s, 1930s, 1930s, it was a hub for Hollywood productions because it was
Starting point is 00:22:55 right off of L.A., 20 miles off of L.A., you had this beautiful mountainish landscape that looked like Montana that also had crystal clear blue water right next to it, right? Probably no laws, no law enforcement there. It was in 1920s. Yeah, come on. The Wild West. People spoke like that for some reason. This is also the height of prohibition. That's right. Where like L.A. was completely lawless. That's right. That's right. Totally run by the mob. All correct. Anyway, long story short, in the 1920s, 1930s, people brought a couple different animals to the California Channel Islands, one of which was the bison. I think we've talked on this pod before about how the bison just like fall off of mountains and shit out there because they're not made for that kind of
Starting point is 00:23:37 habitat. And the other, much less spoken about is the California, or not the California, but the mule deer. So mule deer were introduced for movies and I think people like to hunt them and everything else. Now here we are, what, 100 years later? Yeah. And all of a sudden, somebody got to stick up their bum and said, these deer shouldn't be here. They're too detrimental to the habitat. Now, they've been here for 100 years. Right, 100 years.
Starting point is 00:24:04 They're deer that are relatively native. They're native to the U.S. and to California, just not to the young. And I get it, by the way. As a biologist and conservationist, it's like, helped with the pig eradication from the northern Channel Islands. I think we've talked about that on the pod before. But those are super like invasive and destroying crops and like killing everything. I mean, you know, deer can destroy tons of shit.
Starting point is 00:24:24 They can destroy plants and waterways. That's what's going on here. Well, they are to a certain extent. But California has recently approved the culling, I think the complete removal of the estimated 2,000 or so deer on the California Channel Islands. So the complete extinction from this island of these new deer. And the idea is to try and restore all the islands to what it was before we tried to fuck them up. You think they want to get rid of the buffalo that are roaming around there?
Starting point is 00:24:54 Yeah, but they're too iconic. So it's interesting. So, you know, the deer are non-native. They were about 10 or so brought over. There's now 2,000 of them. They are damaging the ecosystem. There is overgrazing, you know, there's, there are some really rare plants and things out on that island that only occur out on that island. island. Oh, that's interesting. Like I said, the plan is to try and restore everything, you know,
Starting point is 00:25:16 the foxes, the birds, the habitat, blah, blah, blah. Now, where the story gets interesting is there's a couple different things going on here. First of all, there's a big conspiracy, which I'll circle back to. You'll love this. Secondly, because the mule deer on the island are so densely populated and there's so many of them, and for many years, people have been like, we have too many mule deer, they opened mule deer hunting up to recreational hunters from the state of California. So that's been open for a while. For a while. And it's great.
Starting point is 00:25:45 And I'll tell you why. One, the deer are relatively hard to shoot, but there's quite a lot of them. And it's also controlled their population to a certain degree. And it's created revenue for the state of California, right? If you're a sportsman, you pay, you go to the island, you get to hunt in this really unbelievable environment to shoot a deer, blah, blah, blah, blah. Sounds like a fun little trip.
Starting point is 00:26:03 Yeah, if you're into deer hunting. I think I think it's decent. However, it obviously hasn't done enough because now the state is saying to get rid of them. So you have a group, this always happens, but a group of hunters who are furious saying, how the fuck can you remove the deer? Like we pay every year for our tag and we go there and we get a deer and we've managed their population for so many years. Then you have the state going, no, no, we need to restore the island. Like, you're, you can go hunt somewhere else. There's plenty places to shoot deer. And, you know, we're going to remove the deer and we're going to
Starting point is 00:26:32 restore the island to its natural habitat. Now, this has happened many times throughout history. But the fun part about this story is the third pillar, the conspiracy pillar of it, So, and I'm biased, and I'll admit I'm biased because I know these people and they're friends of mine, the families are friends. The Roussacs, formerly the Riggly family, as in Riggly Field Chicago, chewing gum, yeah, wow. Owned pretty much all of Catalina Island. They live in Santa Barbara. I play rugby with their oldest son. I'm very good friends with him.
Starting point is 00:27:02 And I've been to Catalina with them. They own most of the island. On the island, they have a vineyard. Now, the conspiracy that's been floating around that I find, hilarious and the family doesn't find hilarious because the youngest son, who's another friend of mine, called me, was like, dude, all these people are saying all this shit. I was like, who cares, man. Um, uh, the conspiracy is that the Rusak family, who still owns the majority of the island, who has the vineyard, are angry because the deer are eating their grapes and ruining
Starting point is 00:27:30 their vineyard. So they have now lobbied the state of California to eradicate the deer to stop messing with their vineyards. But it's completely unfounded. Of course, it's unfounded. How do you know it's unfounded? How do I know? Yeah. Because they've had the deer there the entire time they've had the vineyard. It's never been a problem before. The deer population hasn't gone up. The wine production hasn't gone down. I mean, he's buddies with him.
Starting point is 00:27:51 I'm also friends with them, and they're like, no, we have nothing to do with the deer. What's the name of the winery? Look it up. I guarantee it's Catalan Island. No, look up Catalan Island Rusak winery. Roussack is like a... Yeah, Rusak Vineyards. I'm thinking that this is true.
Starting point is 00:28:06 You like it. Why are you thinking that? So what wines do they make? Not a sponsor. I don't know. Okay, I'm going to look into this. I've drank many of them, but I have no idea. I'm going to look into this because what I want to see, what I want to see is,
Starting point is 00:28:18 there it is. Has their wine production decreased? And if so, then the conspiracy theory is true. Fair enough. Could not be anything having to do with weather or droughts or. But the crazy thing is it says that they, when they first put the deer there, they started with 10. Right. And we're now over 2,000 deer.
Starting point is 00:28:35 Obviously, it's been 100 years. Right. So, yeah, so they're going to have, I think this is weird, though. So instead of, so they're going to have professional hunters come in and shoot deer from the ground. They were going to do helicopter shooting. They said no to that. Yep. And then they're going to take some of the meat to feed condors.
Starting point is 00:28:54 Yep. And then I think the rest of the, what's going to happen with the rest of the meat? Why don't they just let hunters come in and shoot the deer and just take meat so that there's less cattle being? Exactly. Exactly all around. And this is why bureaucracy, this is literally, as you guys know, the whole point. or the book I'm writing and everything else. The bureaucracy, the laws, the bullshit makes no sense.
Starting point is 00:29:17 So instead of, hey, the state of California can make $2 million by opening up hunting to the point of eradicating these deer and giving out these permits for, you know, very cheap and letting people come and kill out all these deer and have so much fun with it, we're going to pay, I think it's $5 million, see if you can find the budget. It might be more. Might be $15 million. We're going to pay $15 million to do this ourselves in a less. productive manner.
Starting point is 00:29:42 Right. By the way, do you know who they're bringing in to shoot the deer? Guys from New Zealand. What? Do you think guys from
Starting point is 00:29:48 New Zealand are better at shooting California deer in California than California hunters? No, you're kidding. Look it up. They're bringing in
Starting point is 00:29:55 sharp shooters from New Zealand. $5 million project. Kyle, chat GPT in your spare time here, why they are bringing in people from New Zealand. It must be a reason to find it.
Starting point is 00:30:05 There is. It's the same reason they brought in shooters for the pigs on the California Channel Islands because in New Zealand, they do a ton of deer and stag hunting and pig hunting from helicopters, and they're very successful at it because deer and pigs and things have been introduced in New Zealand
Starting point is 00:30:20 where they're not supposed to be on an island. So some fucking idiot who works in an office doesn't understand how the world works thinks that New Zealand are the only deer and pig eradication people in the world that can do this. Wow. And what you will come to find undeniably is that local hunters that know how to track the habitat and the species are much better at getting rid of those animals than bringing in people from a world away that think they're better just because they've done it in their territory, if that makes sense.
Starting point is 00:30:49 That's the most California thing I've ever heard. Of course. Okay. I'm sure there are thousands of amazing hunters in California. Yep. Montana. Uh-huh. Colorado.
Starting point is 00:31:00 Of course. All over the United States. Upstate New York. Yeah. Just like you don't need to import a bunch of Kiwis to like come in there. To shoot deer. Well, especially because they're not even... By the way, you can hit a deer going 20 with your car.
Starting point is 00:31:11 It's not rocket science. Right. You know what I mean? Also like... I mean, is there a... If you're like, hey, we've got an invasive species problem, what countries really nailed this? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:31:22 Ah, New Zealand. The one with the worst invasive species of anywhere on the planet. Let's go to the country, the entire country that's more riddled with invasive species than the Everglades. I mean, it is quite strange, you. The Chachyptee said, I hate California's local government. It's crazy, dude. That they're using... They're such clowns.
Starting point is 00:31:40 Because they're using them because they pioneered deer eradication, but it's like, it really is strange because, first of all, they're not using the helicopters anymore. That's correct. It's going to cost way more. So who's in charge of this plan? I'm not kidding. I want to see if we can get them on the phone.
Starting point is 00:31:56 I promise I'll follow up on this. I want to see if we can interview whoever... We should. Made this. We should. I don't know. The Catalina Island Conservancy that proposed this whole. There you go.
Starting point is 00:32:06 There you are in charge. All right. try and get a contact and we'll see if we can get someone on. And to be clear, again, I just want to go back to this point. The state of California, Catalina Island Conservancy, could make millions of dollars by doing the job they want to do by crowdsourcing that for people to have a great time. Instead, they're like, we're not going to do that. We're going to spend millions and bring in a bunch of Kiwis who are subpar.
Starting point is 00:32:27 I will, I will say this. Here's part of the issue. What happens. Patrick's furious right now. I'm trying to see if they have a press contact. The reason we could get someone on the next third. The reason this happens, because I worked for the CTA many years ago for a contractor that did a lot of work for them. They get money for these things and that money is then budgeted from the federal government, probably in this case or whatever, the state.
Starting point is 00:32:51 And so then they get all this money. And if they don't now spend it, they have to give it back. So they're going to figure out some way to spend this money, including like getting a bunch of it paid to themselves in some manner. They're not going to give it back. So if they went back to them and they were like, oh, we got a much better plan, it's going to make a bunch of money. The state or the feds are just, okay, you can't have the money then. Then, you know, that's the same reason with the homeless issue.
Starting point is 00:33:19 Again, that means the system is fucked. Oh, 100%. I am not arguing that it's not. Yeah, it's infuriating that that is acceptable. I'm just trying to shed light onto the conclusion. Google, for me, Kyle, he did find a number there. But you know what I just realized is we can't call them live on the air. because then we'd be recording a phone call illegally,
Starting point is 00:33:38 which is a crime. With a state agent. Oh, because you have to have consent. You have to have both parties consent. Google for me. Which means Nick and Mike, when we called you to tell the bug story,
Starting point is 00:33:48 feel free to sue us. We committed a crime in the state of... A crime. We could go to jail for it. Peter's over there like not funny laughing. Google... What country has the best deer hunters? I want to see if there's like a known thing
Starting point is 00:34:04 that like... You know. Let's see. Let's see. The United States. Wyrically considered, widely considered the best deer hunting. So there's a, you know who's not on there? Let me, so we just Googled what country has the best deer hunters?
Starting point is 00:34:18 USA, Hungary, Romania, Scotland, Sweden, and Slovakia. Yeah. Yeah, that's a top date. Weird how New Zealand isn't listed. It's strange. It's so annoying. But somehow they did pioneer deer eradication. Because I was willing to give this a chance because like the Winter Olympics.
Starting point is 00:34:34 Yeah. Norway wins the. most medals every year. Sure. They have the best winter athletes. I wonder why. Right. Like,
Starting point is 00:34:40 Canada is really good at curling. Yes. You know, there's weird countries in Eastern Europe that always win the like sharp shooting in the Summer Olympics. Like Kazakhstan has the toughest most badass MMA fighters. Right. Where's,
Starting point is 00:34:54 where are all those guys from? Dagestan. Dagestan. Right? They have the toughest dudes. What is that thing, the meme thing? The two years,
Starting point is 00:35:02 Dagestan. You don't have talking about it. It's so funny. Have you seen that? No. But Kyle pull it up first. Yeah, he'll find it. Anyway, I was willing to give it a shot.
Starting point is 00:35:09 Now I'm just really mad. Yeah, good. Good, good. I'm glad. Now we're all angry. I'm not. Unless we get sued by your friends. Dude, yeah, hit this.
Starting point is 00:35:18 So my son's group of kids, you know how last time I sent my kids there? You want your son? They go next to Dagestan. My son. Send your son to Dagestan. I'm going to, though. He can't go by himself. Why?
Starting point is 00:35:28 Brother, if you want your son high-level wrestling, send him two, three years, Dagestan, and forget. Three years. Yes. No, but it's become a thing like that lines. Kyle, see if you can find one. Send him two, three years and forget. But, dude, there's these things where, like, you know,
Starting point is 00:35:43 it'll be some, like, blue-haired, you know, like super angry, like, screaming, woke thing. Yeah. And then they just cut to send him two, three years, Dagestan, and forget. And it's like that, it's so funny, though. Like, I must have watched a hundred of them when that line came out. Something came across my desk. Kid us.
Starting point is 00:36:00 I just got a new one. New desk? Yeah. Ooh. It's type. Made out of stainless steel. Oh. It's very heavy.
Starting point is 00:36:06 That sounds like it. It's a bad office, mate. But dude, there's like this whole, I'm probably real late to the party on this. There's a whole like social media YouTuber movement of just rage baiting. And it's just people that go into a public place and just film people. Yeah. Like zooming in like really like getting close to them and filming them. I punch somebody in the face.
Starting point is 00:36:29 They wait for someone to get angry. Yeah. And then they're like, I could be here. I could be. And it's just videos. And they. There's a bunch of these channels. And the videos have millions of hits.
Starting point is 00:36:40 And it's just people being like, why are you doing this? Right. And they're like, I don't need to tell you. Yeah, it's infuriating. Yeah, that's so bad. I understand that it's whatever amendment right to go film in a public space. And then the cops get called. Right.
Starting point is 00:36:54 And the cops know the people that the filmers. Right. And they're like, they do have a right to be here. But they're just making people really uncomfortable and angry. I don't understand. And look, he's following her. This is the dregs of society. Yeah,
Starting point is 00:37:09 it really is. No, I want these people to get fucking, like, hit by cars. Yeah, I feel you. It's, dude. And you know what happens, too, is like,
Starting point is 00:37:18 nine out of ten times that person walks up, he starts filming you, you roll your eyes and walk away. But that day where you haven't had your coffee and your fucking dog's sick and you just got in trouble at work, you know,
Starting point is 00:37:29 your boss just yelled at you. Yeah. And then this guy gets in your face and you're like, that's what I needed. I needed this to lose it. And then that's it. And that's the poor guy that gets featured.
Starting point is 00:37:38 I swear to God, like, there is, these little minute things have such a big impact that you don't realize, right? Like, you go out, it's not even that. Like, if you just are, like, mean to somebody that, like, rude for a little instance, like, that could be the thing that, like, makes them snap to go home and, like, beat their kids. And you don't see that. Wow. That's what I'm saying, though. But that's, like, how bad these little acts that people do that are negative are. and can impact society, right?
Starting point is 00:38:07 It has a huge impact when these assholes go out and do things like this. It's not just like you ruin someone's day. You ruin their kids' life. A couple days ago. So my wife's been out of town. Yeah. She's dealing with some, like, family health stuff. I've been alone with both kids for, like, eight days.
Starting point is 00:38:27 Mornings are not great. No. You know. I'm not sleeping great. And so the other morning, mornings are fucking hectic, trying to get them both ready. It's like a two-hour process. It's insane.
Starting point is 00:38:37 Yeah. It sucks. Yeah. So I'm like stressed and I, you know, I didn't sleep great, whatever. And I'm driving the one to school and we're like right on the fence if we're going to be late. And, uh, this lady in my neighborhood runs a stop sign and a mini cooper. Okay. Like she has a stop sign.
Starting point is 00:38:54 Yeah. She wants to go straight. I do not. I'm just going. And she just decides she's going to go. Flies right through. Wow. And so I just hit the break.
Starting point is 00:39:00 I don't even make a gesture anything. Yeah. Yeah. And I just see her in the car just go, fucking asshole. Oh, like you, she mouths it.
Starting point is 00:39:07 Oh, she, like, I'm viscerally mad right now. And she's probably like 60. Yeah. And so I, and I was turning left
Starting point is 00:39:15 onto the street that she continued straight on. Yeah. So I was like, like, like, like, I just stepped on the gas
Starting point is 00:39:20 and like went up on her tail and was just like, like, like, yeah. And then I was just like, I have to fucking,
Starting point is 00:39:26 yeah, just calm yourself. It's so hard. And I'm so, it's crazy. Like I'm not in country. So I get the kids to school. and I like got home and I was like
Starting point is 00:39:36 that someone's been parking in this place that's making it harder for me to pull out of my dadway a neighbor that I like yeah but I like got out of the car because I see that he's parked there and I was like I don't have control of myself
Starting point is 00:39:49 I was like I'm going to really do something bad I'm gonna I'm fucking crazy I just realized like I'm really out of control like if it was one of those situations like as you said, like I was walking into the grocery store. Yeah. And someone was filming me like kind of following me. You'd hit him.
Starting point is 00:40:09 You'd be in jail right now. I wouldn't even say anything. It would have just been a vicious attack. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. And then run to the car. And that there's always, think of about this too. There's always somebody in the grocery store, in the Home Depot, whatever, in that state of mind. Of course.
Starting point is 00:40:24 Because it's happened. In the world we live in today? Like someone's just furious. Furious. Yeah. And it's only a matter, you know, and it's just like that's what they're getting reactions from those people. Yes.
Starting point is 00:40:34 So you're taking advantage of someone who's in a like, I hate using this terminology, but like a fragile state. You know what I mean? It's fucked. It's bad, bro. It's bad. It's evil.
Starting point is 00:40:43 This is, this is the antithesis of what I suspect if there is a God, what he wants. Like, whatever Jesus was talking about in the Bible, this is the exact opposite of that. Right. Well, it's funny because I was like, these people are fucking disgusting.
Starting point is 00:41:01 And so that I went to the comments, And, like, one fifth of the comments are, like, these people are fucking assholes. Yeah. Fuck these guys. I hope someone kills them. And then the other 80% are making fun of the person who's upset. Oh, God. That is infuriating.
Starting point is 00:41:15 And they have millions of views. Interesting. Yeah, it's real annoying. It's just breeding negativity and hate. But you know what's nice about our podcast? We do the opposite. We're doing God's work here. You've said the word God like 12.
Starting point is 00:41:27 Have you found Jesus this week? I said it. It sounds like you have. Yeah. Oh, God. I mean, you know. I will say karma-wise, though, right? So a few hours later, you saw her dad in a car accident?
Starting point is 00:41:40 No. I was back in the car and I pull slowly up to the street that she came off and I realize it's a small cul-de-sac. Yeah. There's maybe eight houses. You're like, I know she lives there. I was like, okay, so I know what street she lives up. Yeah. I know she drives a very distinct mini-Cooper, which I don't see a lot these days.
Starting point is 00:42:01 Right. I'm like, okay, so this, there's an obvious opportunity here. You're plotting your revenge. So I started thinking, I was like, I should turn right and just see where she lives. Then I can figure out what I want to do. You're a terrible person. No, and then I was, I have a little medical procedure coming up next week. Okay.
Starting point is 00:42:16 Not a serious thing. Good. Glad to hear it. And, uh, but I do have to be put under. Oh. Which I don't, I'm not a big fan of. No. And so I was like, you just don't turn right.
Starting point is 00:42:25 And this is the last year ever going to think about getting back at her. That's right. And so I just decided to go straight. And I was like, I'll talk about it on the podcast, but I'm done with like... That's your vent. It's gone now. It's gone.
Starting point is 00:42:38 I don't want to feed the fire, but if you do happen to get her address, there's some really good websites that sell like bedbugs and glitter bombs. You bedbugs? You bedbugs someone that should literally be prison. It's a jail sentence for sure. That's as bad as it gets. By the way, do you see this? We'll get into some more games and stuff like that. Did you see the entertainment news that the, so I used to watch The Bachelor and The Bachelorette.
Starting point is 00:43:07 Oh, you were a huge Bachelor Bachelor. I haven't like five years. Uh-huh. It jumped the shirt. No, it really, it really got bad. I can't watch the shit anymore. Fucking ABC shot and edited an entire season of The Bachelorette. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:43:23 And they announced last night because the woman who was on it, who was a crossover, she was on, like, the real housewives or Mormon, real lives of Mormon housewives or something. Oh, that's her deal? Yeah. I've seen her floating around. I find her quite grotesque. Well, wait till you see this. So a video was released. Dude, they cancelled the entire season. Wait, wait, wait, okay, hold on.
Starting point is 00:43:47 She was the lead and all the men were competing for her affection. Kyle, before you hit play. So I watched this video last night. Loved it. It was a treat. It's hilarious. Jesus. But, wait, I didn't know they filmed the whole season. Yeah, they filmed the whole season. They scrapped an entire fully produced season. You're joking.
Starting point is 00:44:04 You're ready to air in like three days. You know, by the way, can I go before we watch this clip? That's like tens of millions, dude. Not only that, but do you know how stupid that is? Do you know how much free press this is for them that this awful woman did this? That's an interesting point. They could literally lean into it and have a whole press tour about how she's reformed and she's sorry and look at how well she's done on the bachelorette. Everybody would actually watch the bachelorette.
Starting point is 00:44:28 There has to be more going on. Well, there is. So put the video on. Because I'll tell you something that you may not realize. Yeah, please. But give us some audio call. I got to hear what's going on. So she's attacking him, punching.
Starting point is 00:44:42 Oh, get him. Get him. She's punching him. He's doing the right thing, right? He's just trying to get out of there. This is all you do. It's the only thing you know how to do. Oh, it's not as funny as I thought it was.
Starting point is 00:44:56 It's kind of sad. No, no, no. Sorry, you think this is okay? Skip ahead. Let's get behind. I think she throws some really good kicks at him. Really? Let me go.
Starting point is 00:45:06 Oh, nice. Did she train with Joe Rogan? I think so. Holy shit. That's a metal stool she just threw as hard as she could. Oh, and the daughter's there. There's a little kid sitting here. Holy shit.
Starting point is 00:45:19 This isn't as funny as I thought it was. No, it's really bad. It's kind of sad. I kind of hate it. Dude. Get off the screen. The kids crying. No, I can't deal with this.
Starting point is 00:45:28 I hate this. I thought it was funny when the Instagram thing I saw. That was not funny. Yeah. Dude, the metal stools. Like, that could kill somebody.
Starting point is 00:45:35 Yeah. The daughters are right there. Dude, with the kids sitting there, like I get people have meltdowns. But with the kids sitting there, well, now I get why they canceled it.
Starting point is 00:45:43 But like, what a fucking crazy. Like, you know how much work it is to film that show for that long traveling all over the world? Oh my God. Probably a hundred plus person crew. Huge edit staff.
Starting point is 00:45:56 Tens and tens of millions of dollars. Contract. with people. But how did they not know about this? I don't know. It's crazy. Bro. Obviously this is on some guy's phone, right?
Starting point is 00:46:06 Yeah, her ex's phone. Right. Like, this is the chick that you're now saying is this smoke show. It is quite possible that he did not release it until like a week ago. Hold on a second. What I saw, which is what I was laughing at was like, it was a side by side on Instagram of her throwing a chair. And I didn't get the context of this.
Starting point is 00:46:24 So I want to already say I don't think it's funny. And then the other one, she's like doing a. TikTok dance being like, people have hated on me my whole life. Look at me now. And then below it was like headline. She's been canceled. It was right, man. It was really funny.
Starting point is 00:46:38 Dude. But the other thing, too, Kyle, see if you can find one of these memes. It was like, there are memes floating around that's like 23 men or whatever it is are competing for the affection of a single mother of three who cheated on her husband. That's true. Look it up. That was this for this. That's this check.
Starting point is 00:46:57 So not only does she throw stools at people and lose her fucking mind. I don't know how we got on to this from three kids. But she has three kids. This is animal-like behavior. That's right. Yeah. Well, she was in must. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:47:11 Definitely in must. Here it is. Read it, Kyle. Read it. 22 men are about to compete on national television for the chance to marry a single mom of three who cheated on her previous husband and then has an open domestic assault case against her. And that's, by the way,
Starting point is 00:47:26 that domestic assault case is not the stool throwing. Oh, no, that's a different thing. That's a more recent one. That's certainly going into discovery now. She's got great hair. Her hair is lovely.
Starting point is 00:47:36 But her face is really muppete. Let's not, let's not do this. We're hating on her. She's a bad person. Yeah. But, right.
Starting point is 00:47:45 If you look at the, okay, yeah. She kind of looks like you to be honest. I'm with Pat on this and I'll tell you why. Peter, I'm with Pat on this and I'll tell you why. If you had the same photo up,
Starting point is 00:47:56 and that title read, Young Lady saves puppy from burning building. I'd be like, look at how beautiful she is too. How nice is it for a gorgeous girl to dive into that building and save those puppies? But now I'm like, look at her ugly fucking face. I hate her so much. And that is animal-like behavior.
Starting point is 00:48:14 It's so true. All right. All right. What do we got? What do we got? We got a new game. Jingle! No way.
Starting point is 00:48:21 We didn't do one jingle for what's in the news. True. We didn't. Nicely done, sir. This is a new game that Edwin came up. It's very similar to the other. Try again. Try again.
Starting point is 00:48:35 What did I say? Edwin came on your chest is what I heard. He said, this is a new game that Edwin came up. It's true. You didn't say it that way. Edwin came up with a new game. It's called the Animal Superpowers game. Okay.
Starting point is 00:48:49 The way that it works is I'm going to read out a fact. And after each fact that I read, you guys are going to take a guess. what that animal is. And then the facts get more and more revealing toward the end. Okay. And yeah, just whoever we go, he,
Starting point is 00:49:03 it's going to the order's going to go, Peter, Patrick, and then for us. I feel like we played this like years ago. Kill our screen. Yeah. Smart. So that we can't read ahead. There you go.
Starting point is 00:49:12 I didn't listen to any of that. I hope I know how to play. No, you, you completely blacked out. I was just praying. It's the simplest game we've ever. He has found Jesus.
Starting point is 00:49:20 Just pray. Yeah. Well, let's crack into that on the next pod. All right. I'm down. All right. Go ahead, Kyle.
Starting point is 00:49:25 All right. Just pull it up here. No, it's not. Jesus, this is a nightmare. Not acceptable. All right, the first one is the first clue for the first animal. Yeah. Is this animal builds an underground den slash home.
Starting point is 00:49:39 Okay. Let's go. Peter, any guess? Naked mole rat? That's also my guess. Well, just because they both said it, even though I was thinking it, I'll go California ground squirrel. Okay.
Starting point is 00:49:49 Nope, that is not correct. Thank you, Edwin. The next one is it creates a trap door on the surface with a hinged mechanism. A trapdoor spider. Yeah, it's got to be. The only answer. Just ding us all.
Starting point is 00:50:01 He used trapdoor in the fucking name. Yeah, that's bad. That's insane. Well, he might have thought we just didn't know what it was. It's featured in our game. That's right. That's right. The problem was, if he had said,
Starting point is 00:50:12 this creature uses its burrow and has a hinged door. Yes. We'd be like, oh, interesting. Right. But he used the word trapdoor, and that was the end of it. Trapped door, he gave us half the answer in the clue. That is correct. All right, I don't want to play this game anymore.
Starting point is 00:50:27 I love it. I love it. I like being able to get something right. That is true. The next animal, first question and only question, so listen carefully. Okay. All right. Different. Yep.
Starting point is 00:50:38 This animal can detach and throw up its entire stomach, manually cleaning it with its hands and swallowing the stomach back again. Who am I? I don't know, but I've seen it and we've talked about it. I'm going to say it is a, it has hands. Hands is interesting, but I'm not going to get thrown off by hands. This is a, this is Elvin the chipmunk. Literally. So this is a reptilian behavior.
Starting point is 00:51:06 It is, yeah. Okay, so it's some sort of lizard. There are sharks that can do it too, but they don't have hands. Oh, interesting. They don't have something that Edwin might call hands. Right. It's some sort of lizard. It is the Nebraska crested gecko.
Starting point is 00:51:22 I'm taking a shot in the dark here. gastric brooding frog. It's a frog of some kind, for sure. I'm going to half point to forest. Frog. It is a frog. Yeah. Which one is the North American bullfrog.
Starting point is 00:51:34 Oh, the regular North American bullfrog? It's called the plain ass bullfrog. The one that I catch in ponds and shit. Still? Interesting. That's great. You still go frogging? No, I will.
Starting point is 00:51:45 Froggin's a tree. So it's basically there, it's the alternative to vomiting for them, eh? Yeah. So there's a few animals that can do this. It's called gastric aversion is the term for it. Okay. So they throw up their whole stomach to get stuff out and then they swallow it back down. But the hands thing was where I was like, who's clean in their stomach?
Starting point is 00:52:07 How uncomfortable do you think that is for them? I kind of imagine it's pleasant at all. Oh, here we go. We get to watch it. Is he going to do it? So this frog just ate a Bombadier beetle. By the way, somebody's torturing these animals for this video. That's crazy.
Starting point is 00:52:20 Yeah, because a Bombadier beetle spits out like fiery hot acid, right? Yep. This is set up exactly to see this. And I get it. We need to study it, but it's kind of sad. It is National Geographic. It didn't even do it really. What are they doing in this guy? Did you see how the acid just burnt in the enclosure that the Bombadier Beetle's in? Yeah. Bro, so a Bombadier beetle could literally like 200 plus degrees. Burn a hole in your finger. Yeah. I mean, here's the problem. That's amazing. So it sprayed, the Bombardier Beetle sprayed this chemical into the frog's mouth and in stomach. Yeah. But it's also like 250 degrees. So the frogs.
Starting point is 00:52:54 probably going to have burns all over its stomach. Undeniably. I think it's even hotter than that. Is it only 250? I thought it was like thousands. No. I don't know. But it's pretty crazy. I mean, boiling water is 2.12. Oh, wow. So it's enough to damage flush significantly.
Starting point is 00:53:10 I was just reading about something else that does gastric conversion, but I can't remember what it was. Does it matter. All right. Next one. Next one. And this one's the final animal. And we're at five points. Of course. Of course. first clue
Starting point is 00:53:25 that muscle fibers in its tongue are the strongest muscle fibers in the animal kingdom oh fuck I feel like I know this human ah your wife's very lucky yeah
Starting point is 00:53:36 something with a very long tongue or no would it be something with a very short tongue nobody knows chameleon that's well I was going there I'm going to go what's your little guy
Starting point is 00:53:50 with pangolin Peter A human? He said human. No, that is not correct. None of them? None of them are correct. Is that the only fact or is there another one?
Starting point is 00:53:58 There's one more. A chameleon was definitely it. Strongest five muscle fibers in the animal kingdom. Okay. All right. The next and final clue. One pound of its muscle firing once could generate enough energy to run a full-size refrigerator for three months.
Starting point is 00:54:13 None of that. It's the same. You cannot equate that. But we already know that information. It's just worded in a different way. Say it has spots or something, and then we'll be like, oh, here's what it is. It's literally just going the previous thing. It was true.
Starting point is 00:54:29 I'm doubling down. Here's a better way to say it. Well, all right, I get another guess. I'm going to go something with a short tongue. I'm going to go the tongueless. No, wait, the tongue. Probably not that. The tongueed sphincter.
Starting point is 00:54:43 So close. I'll just go something that has a giant tongue. Do blue whales have tongues? They do. Blue whale. Can you read? Read me the first one again, so I just understand the verbiage. The muscle fibers in its tongue are the strongest muscle fibers in the animal kingdom.
Starting point is 00:55:01 Can you please make Pat saying, do blue whales have tongues? A drop that we play constantly. Does your dog, what's this line that you always used to say? Does your dog like to lick the? Oh, yeah. Does your dog know that you like to lick your... Do you eat anything besides your dog's dick? Does your dog know?
Starting point is 00:55:22 Yeah, yeah, that's right. That's right. That was from podcast one. Yeah, okay. This is nonsense. Giraff. No, this is incorrect. Thanks.
Starting point is 00:55:34 What is it? Fortunately, the correct answer is the giant palm salamander. Okay. No. You just don't believe it. No, I just refuse all of this. Like, what is happening right now? Well, let's see what makes this thing's tongue so special.
Starting point is 00:55:49 Yeah. Well, this is a giant palm salamander feeding in slow motion. Here we go. Just rockets the tongue out. Yeah, I get it. So we've seen that from chameleons and other things. Really not much different to many of the other tongue-ed critters. So there's something special about the fiber and the tongue.
Starting point is 00:56:09 Can you give us a little of, so okay, we didn't get the animal fair. Wow, that was quick. Can you give us some info, Kyle, on what this means regarding? Greatest pound-for-pound energy. output of any known muscle. What does that mean? I guess are they measuring, how do you measure that by like the electrical pulse that goes through it?
Starting point is 00:56:29 Or the speed, you know, what is it, what is it speed plus force? I just what I mean. I don't understand. I'm not smart enough to understand this. Yeah. So what do you feed your dog besides your own dick? That's it. That's what it is.
Starting point is 00:56:44 Trying to find. That's unimpressed by it. That was you. Oh, I was trying to see how you measure how you measure the strength of a muscle fiber. Let's get there. Do we have the answer? Come on. What do you feed your dog besides your own dick?
Starting point is 00:57:00 That's what it was. That's what it was. It's really funny. It says you measure the snout to vent length and then tongue projection distance. Right. But how does that tell us that this is the strongest muscle fiber? How do you measure that thing's tongue against a gorilla's bicep? Right.
Starting point is 00:57:17 Exactly. That is the question. I guess I think what they're doing is they're measuring the distance that you're able to project something using the muscle. Oh, I see. Versus the amount of time. It's like the ability to throw that out there at speed is, yeah. Yeah, I mean, because they must have actually tried to measure this somehow. So there must be a methodology to this.
Starting point is 00:57:40 Are you chewing something? No, I just had a little flem in my phone. What was the name of the animal? The what giant salmander? The giant palm salamander. Is a South American salamander? Now, do you have a salamander at home? No.
Starting point is 00:57:53 I love them, but I don't. It's not a popular. Possess any as a pet. Central America. Interesting. Well, I actually didn't know that salamanders did that tongue thing. I think that's the only one that does. That's definitely not a common thing in the Salamander kingdom.
Starting point is 00:58:06 All right. So it's called Doughlin's Salamander. Let's just take a guess about Dauphleen. I hope that he or she did not look anything like the salamander based on that. So it's not the person that discovered it. It's just they were like, oh, that looks like Dofleen back home. Somebody just made that up so that they could go back and call their friend Dofleen. It's a weird-looking animal, man.
Starting point is 00:58:30 It looks like a huge black turd. It is big. It's much bigger than I expected, especially for a Central American salamander. Most of the salamanders in Central America are tiny arboreal ones that live up in the canopy and lay eggs and things in Bermiliads. That's a big one. Dude, what was the fucking, that venomous snake, total non-sequitur, but you said arboreal.
Starting point is 00:58:55 Yeah. That arboreal snake that was extremely venomous that was green in Zanzibar. Oh, green mamba. Oh, is that what it was? Yeah. Do you remember we were driving, Mitch tells a story all the time.
Starting point is 00:59:06 We were driving up to the park and you guys go, or Mitch goes, is there anything like venomous here we need to worry about? And I was like, no, there's nothing. I mean, green mamba, but the likelihood of seeing one is like one in a thousand. you'll never see one.
Starting point is 00:59:18 Open the door of the car, stepped out and their green mamba slid right by. The luck works two ways. Like literally within like four seconds of getting out of the car. So this happens. Can I continue that? Yeah, please, please. Then they were everywhere.
Starting point is 00:59:33 Yeah, we saw a few of them. And they were in trees. So like, you know, you're brushing up against stuff. You're like, Jesus Christ. Like, they blended in really well also. And then our fixer told us that he got bitten by one when he was a teenager. Holy God.
Starting point is 00:59:47 I don't remember that. Yeah, he got bitten on the ankle and almost died. Well, yeah, that's what happens. I mean, the death rate of that is like 90%. It's very high. I don't know, but it's very, very high. That's interesting. I didn't remember the fixer saying that. But yeah, I remember being like, yeah, we're not going to see any.
Starting point is 01:00:02 Man, that's crazy. Well, also, I remember on that, like, because we were just running around those woods, like absolute idiot. Yes. Full lunacy. And Mitch was like, he had just been off on his own shooting time lapses. That's right. one night,
Starting point is 01:00:16 you know, Forrest was sitting in a blind doing something. And, uh, and, uh, and then after we got the,
Starting point is 01:00:23 the, the, the, the, the trail cam of the leopard. I remember like, the excitement had died down after a couple hours.
Starting point is 01:00:31 And Mitch was like, I was literally right there where it fucking walked through, just shooting time lapses. That's right. Yeah. Yeah. There's no chance that a leopard
Starting point is 01:00:40 might just suddenly be in my face. He's literally in some of those trail camera shots. And then the leopard cuts through the frame, you know, like hours later. Yeah, it's crazy. Hey, we are doing something special and unique on the podcast. We used to have guests, and we all talked about this. We thought that the guests we had were like animal people in the animal influencer. Who gives a shit? Who gives a shit about Instagram. No, who cares? No, who cares? We mixed it up. We're going to start new with the guest thing.
Starting point is 01:01:11 We're going to try it. We have very special guests joining on our next podcast. somebody, two people who have conducted an unbelievable expedition in discovery. So I'm just going to tease that right here. Leave it that. They will be on the next podcast as special guests. Looking forward to having guests back on the show. Well, let's just say this. They just probably did one of the most badass expeditions ever.
Starting point is 01:01:33 That anyone's ever done. Yeah. Yep. We do not know them. We never met them before. It's not going to be the whole show. No. I'm really fucking excited to talk to these dudes.
