Wild times. Oh, you. Wow. Woohoo. Here we go. Wow.
We are in the studio.
I'm back.
I'm back.
Remember we did that?
We did the...
Oh, yeah.
We sang it.
What is that even from?
It's from the Hangover.
Yeah, that's right.
When we're three best friends that anybody could have.
Yeah, that's one of the best movies ever.
Yeah, you guys forced me to do that whole day.
Yeah, yeah, we scripted it out.
It was nice.
This is the Wild Times podcast.
We are in the studio.
I'm Forskalante, the broologist.
There is Patrick DeLucah, the Broducer, and Peter Fitzer, the Brofesser, and Kyle.
Did we ever give Kyle a bro title?
No.
Did we do that?
I mean, he's the, he's a producer,
well, he's actually the producer.
You do nothing now.
What do you call the guy that does all the work?
The bro slave.
He's the bro runner.
The bro runner.
Oh, I like that.
The bro runner.
Kyle, the bro runner.
That's a big title, bro.
What do you think about that?
We do need, way in if you're watching this and you've been watching for the last several years.
Do you think we need a camera on Kyle that occasionally the switcher hits him and he does
his monotone Kyle thing over there.
That'd be good.
Way in.
Put it a comment below.
I think we do.
We'll probably not read it or do it.
Nah, we won't.
Kyle might.
I just got back from three and a half weeks in Africa.
After like a month and a half in India.
Yeah, I was home for four nights.
I'm now home for five nights.
Yeah, no, she came with.
Oh, good, good.
Good trip, lots of stories.
Should I just dig right into that?
Let's go?
Yeah, so I remember.
You were, we were here, I think, the day you were leaving.
Yep.
And you were going to LAX.
You said you were going to the falls?
Did you go to the falls?
Sure did.
That's right.
Went flew from here.
Oh, man, Zimbabwe.
Flew from here to Zimbabwe directly.
You know, via several stops.
Flew into Victoria Falls, chartered a little plane.
Okay.
Then went to a remote area of Zimbabwe called Binga, where we did some filming.
You have to charter a plane to get to the falls?
No.
So, Vic Falls is an international airport, but I think it only flies in from Johannesburg now.
So we flew in from Joeberg.
So it was here, London, London, Joburg, Joeberg, Vic Falls, Vic Falls charter plane, two-hour drive.
So standard.
Your standard, like 30-hour travel day.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
Okay.
But, you know, look, there's, I feel like there's a lot of cool stuff to talk about.
But long story short, we were in Africa for nearly a month, spent the first.
10 days in Zimbabwe and then the rest of the time, 12 days in Zimbabwe and then the rest of the time in
South Africa did some awesome stuff. Connected with, you know, a good, an old friend, a guy from Zimbabwe
who's become, you know, who is now a world-renowned conservationist, Ivan Carter. And him and I,
I sit on the board of his conservation fund. So because I'm on the board and they're always funding
all these various conservation projects, I got to take Rhodes who's six to dart a rhino out of a
helicopter.
Tell us about it.
Dude,
I mean, it's just,
there's so much cool stuff.
Out of the helicopter.
Yeah, Kyle,
you've got some pictures.
Oh, God, pull these up.
You got a WhatsApp.
Not that.
That's us swimming with an elephant.
But that's also cool.
That was also cool.
Yeah, we did all kinds of awesome stuff.
I mean, check this guy out.
You're showing me all these.
Look, Rhodes killed a zebra.
Isn't that awesome?
He murdered one all by himself.
Yeah.
Put that down.
No, no, no.
That's him.
He killed that zebra.
Shut up.
Aren't you proud of him?
No, I, I, he's a hunter now.
No, he's not.
What do you think actually this photo is?
He must have darted him.
He did.
Isn't that cool?
That's insane.
Did he actually dart it?
No.
But here's what's so funny is I took that photo and I was like, well, we can never share this photo.
Yeah, yeah.
Because as soon as I saw it, it looks like he's holding a high-powered rifle.
So what we actually did is, Kyle, if you scroll left or right, there's probably, yeah, just press play without the audio.
This zebra had this giant lump on its jaw.
Do you see it on my knee there?
Yeah.
And so, yeah, we found this in the area we're at.
And there was a vet there working on the predators that we were working on.
And on the off day, I was like, hey, will you come and check out the zebra?
And he's like, of course.
So he got to take Rhodes and I followed along behind them.
And they got to find the zebra with the big lump on its jaw dart it.
Obviously, the vet did the darting, not Rhodes.
And then we got to treat the jaw for this big infection.
And then I was like, oh, let me take a picture.
And Rhodes was like, let me hold the gun.
And I took that photo.
It was like, oh, that's bad.
Like, this doesn't look good at all.
Is that a tumor?
What is that?
Yeah, what was it?
So we thought it was a bone growth that had created an infection.
What it ended up being was that there's just a, you know when you bite your lip and you get that little swelling on the inside?
Yeah.
Imagine that, except this old female zebra who's near the end of her life had probably been doing that for five years.
Yeah.
So the amount of tissue and build up there, it was all just hard tissue.
Yeah.
But there was no bone infection.
There was no anything.
So sadly, the vet said, and it was actually important lesson for Rhodes, there's nothing we can do.
We gave her antibiotics.
We gave her a deparicit because there was so many ticks and things in her ears and cloaca and that.
Yeah. That's her butt hole.
That's right.
And then just sent her on her way.
But there was just sort of nothing that could be done for her.
But it was a good life lesson because I was like, all right, buddy, we're going to dart her.
I thought it was an abscess.
I was like, we'll drain it, we'll treat it.
She'll be back on her feet.
And we did it all.
And the vet looked in and goes, yeah, there's not much we can do.
She's on her way out.
Yeah.
So it's a good life lesson for Rhodes.
But there's a circle of life.
So there's like lions and stuff here.
Yeah.
Oh, yeah.
All right.
So she'll just get eaten.
Yeah, she will.
She'll go out in the most horrific way possible.
That's great.
Did you tell Rhodes that?
Yeah, I did.
He learned.
Sorry, buddy.
She's going to be attacked and mauled by the hind quarters by a line or two.
And then they're going to eat.
Well, speaking of, and it's funny because these things don't go together.
But, Kyle, go to the ATV that we built.
I think there's a video of me touring it.
Look at this.
I mean, of course you built that.
Zoom in on that sucker for a second, Kyle.
All right. So obviously, describe this for those that are listening.
Wait, wait, wait, wait, let me do it. Okay.
So what he's done here is, is took a forklift, put a cage on it.
Not a forklift. I know. But it looks like a golf cart.
Yeah, it's a golf cart with a metal cage.
Yep. But a very realistic zebra, and it's all painted zebra colors and a very realistic zebra head and neck.
Very realistic. How did you do that?
It's like identical to a real one.
Kyle will show some photos in a second of what we did it for.
But before we get into that, I think we talked about this on the pod before I flew out.
The show I'm currently working on is learning about predators from the perspective of prey, right?
Remember we talked about that?
Patrick was like, oh, I'd actually watch that.
It doesn't matter.
So this was for the lion episode.
All of that is done with a dummy zebra head that you're looking at.
Black and white printed striped stickers.
Like if you zoom in, you see the wrinkles.
That was not professionally wrapped.
and a can of white spray paint.
That's awesome.
That's it.
Like we did all this.
I mean, obviously the workshop guys built the cage.
That's not my area of expertise.
But everything else was done with those three items.
Okay.
And, yeah, and it came out like this so that we can go left one, Kyle.
They ripped the zebra head off that thing in about a millisecond.
But check this up.
Oh, is there a meat inside the zebra head?
No, there was not.
That was a dummy zebra head.
But we hung meat off the cage parts.
Dude, you got a meat cart.
Yeah.
Yeah.
You've advanced from the meat tree to the meat cart.
Did I send you a picture of them flipping me over in this?
Oh, yep, there we go.
So you're in the cage.
I'm inside of it, yeah.
Oh, my gosh.
So this is going to be part of the show.
Oh, yeah.
This is going to be amazing, though.
Yeah, it was fun.
And then they got bored of me and tried to eat Tommy in his little filming cage.
So see his filming cage in the back corner there?
Oh, that's great.
So then I had to figure out how to flip the bike the right way,
which I was able to do by kicking it into reverse and punching it.
while hanging on to the handlebars,
and I managed to flip the bike.
Then I had to chase the lions off of Tommy
because they were digging it to get at him.
Now, what is your, like,
there seems to be a recurring theme with Tommy.
Why do cats seem to actually,
like, legit hate Tommy?
So I, I, it's funny.
I, okay.
Because he's so true.
So Tommy, you guys know Tommy.
He worked at AnimalCon and stuff.
The best looking part of your crew.
He's,
he's the youngest guy on my crew.
He's been around for two or three years now.
This is a great kid.
big cats hate him
hate him like you will be at
Ventara and everybody will walk by
like the tiger enclosure
the tiger sleeps Tommy walks by
middle of the pack front of the pack
end of the pack the tiger gets up
launches at the fence
Are you serious? Dead serious
What was okay so what's going on this guy
Sure could it be something about his face
Oh no I think he's just got like a weird
Silhouette picture? Do you actually have a theory?
I do I have several theories
That's Tommy right there
Okay I'm already getting it
You're getting it
You got to pull up one where he's looking real handsome because he's really handsome.
Jesus, Peter.
There he is.
There he is.
Get that one.
Look at those abless picture of Tommy.
He kind of looks exactly like carrot top.
Like a jacked caratop.
He also kind of looks like a male lion.
A little bit.
That's true.
Oh, it's the hair.
Okay, what's your theory?
All right.
So there's three theories here.
Tommy's theory is that they're intimidated by him.
That is immediately out the window.
My theory that I've doubled down on every time
this happens is lions, just like the zebra with the jaw lump we talked about, they can pick
the weak link.
Tommy is, he's just a little baby boy.
That's right.
He's the weakest one of the pack.
How big is he?
Huge.
He's like six to him.
Yeah.
And he's jacked, yeah.
But no, but he's soft emotional.
He's emotionally.
He is in his prime.
Yeah, but he's fragile.
He's a mentally soft boy.
He's mentally soft.
He's going to listen to this.
So the lions know that he's mentally weak.
They know he's weak.
They can sense genetic inferior.
And the fear, right?
And he probably gets really, does he get scared or not anymore?
Not really.
He's a super cool kid.
Where did you meet this, Adonis?
He was a sophomore at UCSB in the film program when I hired him to edit an Instagram short.
And I was like, wow, this is really good.
Let me just pause here, dude.
That just goes to show like, you can just, like, dude, that's nothing.
Like, you hired him to do an Instagram short and now he works for you full time.
Yeah.
Like just for the Brosner's like hey like reach out and do go for your goals because sometimes it just fucking works out quick side.
Yeah.
Not a sponsor.
This you know, they've never given us any money, but these Stanley things, right?
Yeah.
I put hot.
I lost my voice.
I've laryngitis.
Right?
So I put this hot tea.
I was like I'll I'll put it in this.
It fucking is somehow heated it.
It's scalding.
It's molten lava hot.
There's,
No way I'll be able to drink it.
Yeah, you got to open it.
There's something wrong with that.
Shit.
Because I remember, I got this.
It's alien technology.
I got this for Greenland and I would put hot coffee on it in the morning.
We would go hike for 13, 14 hours.
I'd never get to drink my coffee.
In Greenland.
That's crazy.
On a glacier.
And I was like, it just, I would get back and just dump the coffee out of it.
That's wonderful.
It's kind of pissing me off.
Yes.
All right.
So, all right.
So we kind of skipped around here.
obviously you've designed a zebra meat cart
they instantly ripped the head off which I'm guessing I gotta find this head thing
you've probably spent as much money fabricating that head yeah can I tell you
honestly yeah that head was $4,000 it's it I mean it's essentially taxidermy quality
oh yeah it's not quality it's a taxidermy zebra hat oh okay I mean it's pretty funny that it went
straight for the head I got to find this
one video I have of how proud.
It's a good shot. Who was responsible for
attaching the head to the cart?
Yours truly. Oh, that's why it came off
so easily? Well, no, if you see
it at it, like, whatever they made it out of, just
split in half. Yeah, it's, so it's a
foam-filled zebra skin. Yeah, there's not
much you can do with that. I mean, it just, Kyle, but...
It looks like a real... No, it is.
It's a taxidermine zebraed. It's a real thing.
So, Kyle, look at the one...
Can we actually watch how it... So the
lion there is thinking maybe it's got
a real zebra? Dude, no.
They just, I mean, look, they're programmed to kill Zebra.
No question about it.
Look at what they do.
It's cool.
Double a paw on each side of the face.
Yep.
Pull the head down to get access to the neck.
Yep.
And then just boom.
But you don't, you're fucked.
You do not have to be a cat expert.
Kyle, look at the thing I just sent you on WhatsApp to look at this video and understand how
proud this lion is.
Look at him.
Look at him.
Yeah.
He's just like, yeah.
He's literally saying right now,
Fuck you. Look what I got.
He's struggling around. Every house cat that's ever killed a bird.
That's it.
Or pick it.
And so I literally took this from my phone inside of the ATV that I just showed you because
there were three male lions that we ran this with.
And this guy just came in, as you saw in the last video, ripped the zebra head off and was
just like, well, this is mine.
Yeah.
And never came back.
He was just like, I'm just walking off with this thing that's completely inedible, so
proud of myself while the other two went into the feeding.
Yeah.
I got a question.
here. Just got home from the river. Long day in the sun. I'm talking seven hours straight. Kids are
exhausted. They're screaming. Wife's fed up. We pull into the house at 7 p.m. Nobody wants to cook
dinner. Thank God. We've got our factors. I'm not kidding. Everybody loves them. Dude, the kids eat
them up. They'd rather have factor than fast food. I'm not even joking. We're exhausted.
So good. And they're healthy. So I'm like, this is great. I'm eating it. My wife's eating it. The kids are sharing one.
it's like fantastic.
If I didn't have that factor subscription,
I'd be in a fight with my wife right this second about
sure.
Well,
also after you packed on some LBs in India,
it's helping you slim back down,
buddy.
Sure.
I needed it.
Yeah.
It's fresh,

trying to get some work down on my laptop, connected to the public Wi-Fi. And within an hour,
I started getting these incredibly realistic fishing emails. So I gave you a call. And what did you say?
Yeah, I told you to get Surf Shark. Fishing emails have gotten really sophisticated and can serious
compromise your security. I mentioned they have an email scam checker that guards against fishing
attacks and beyond that, public Wi-Fi is usually unsecured. Surfshark VPN keeps your online
activity private by masking your IP address. It prevents anyone from intercepting your data or
snooping through your information when you're in a public spot like an airport cafe or a hotel.
Yeah, and I now use it every time I'm on the road too. When you're shopping online,
advertisers can track what you're doing, which leads to targeted ads,
price discrimination and that feeling of just being watched.
Searchark blocks trackers while the VPN ensures fair pricing and secure access,
helps us find the best deals on flights when we're booking our expeditions.
Plus, geo-restrictions can limit what content you can access.
Surf Shark VPN changes your virtual location and IP address
so you can browse securely while traveling and still watch your favorite shows
in the middle of the jungle.
It's great. You really just pay for one tool and it covers all aspects of your online life.
One account protects all my devices like my phone, laptop, iPad, everything, which is huge on a production, because there's always gear connected to different networks everywhere.
I also love that alert monitors your identity for data leaks.

I know
I'm obviously like the males
surely go out and kill things
but is it
aren't the females the ones that do most of the hunting
for the food?
So do the males just kill
I mean they eat it obviously
but like do they just like
kind of go out and kill for fun too?
So okay I'll explain it
nobody kills for fun in the animal kingdom
Right right I know but you know what I mean
though.
In a pride of lions which is run by one single alpha male
the females do 99% of the hunting
and the male eats first and blah, blah, blah, blah.
This was a Bachelor coalition.
So when you say you're in that pride, I just mentioned,
and you have all these chicks, all these lionesses,
and you boink them all, and then they start putting out males.
We have two options when you're a male that becomes a teenager.
You can either fight your dad for dominance of the pride,
in which case many lions do,
and you either win, and then you take over that pride,
or the more likely thing that happens more frequently
is you fight your dad for dominance of the pride,
he kicks your ass and then you leave.
Because nature has programmed them
so that if they win that fight,
they're now mixing their genes with their moms and sisters.
So they take off. Does that make sense?
Yeah, of course.
So what happens is say that there's one pride with dad
and a teenage son and kicks the sun out.
Then there's another pride with dad
and a teenage son he kicks the sun out.
Then there's a third pride with dad
and a teenage son, he kicks the sun out.
Those three teenagers find each other
and form a coalition called a Bachelor coalition.
That is fascinating.
I didn't know that was a thing.
I always thought they were in prides and like just like a male line and then the females.
It's like the bachelor pod with seals.
Yeah, exactly.
And then so then that they don't have any females to go hunt.
So they have to go out hunting themselves.
That's right.
And they go out hunting themselves.
And like teenage boys, imagine your three, three, 20 year old teenage boys,
you fight each other, you hang out, you drink, you get big, you get strong.
And then guess what happens?
you get to a point where you, as we're going to use these three as an example, your bachelor
coalition crosses into the territory of another pride. And all of a sudden, because they're,
they're hardwired for this, one of those males smells that pride and goes, ooh, wait a minute,
these girls are not related to me. My biological drive, my sexual drive means I need to
fucking take on this guy. So all of a sudden, instead of dad taking on son taking on dad,
it's a youngster taking on another head of another pride. And he kicked.
that lion's ass. Now that lion either dies from the fight, the older lion, or gets kicked
out and slowly dies or maybe forms another Bachelor coalition with some other older men.
But it's a whole crazy social structure. I mean, it's rough. Oh, it's rough. If you think about
it. Yeah. If your entire chance of breeding ever, you just know, like, you've got to go
get tough enough to go win a potential fight till death, where you're going to take horrible damage one.
other. And the person you're fighting, you already know was tough enough to beat a lot of other
people. Exactly. It's not like you're going to come like fight me. Yeah, like the weakest link.
Like this is the alpha lion. Like you're going to have to fight a really, really tough dude,
possibly till death. Yeah. That's right. To even have a chance of giving a little poke to a female.
Who has, who has beaten up eight or ten others that have challenged him. Right. And he's covered in this.
It's like fucking Arnold from the expendables. He's covered in Scarlet. He's covered in Scarce.
and he's done this 10 times and he's never lost before.
I feel like men, if human men did this,
we could do it in a way where it's,
we could do kind of UFC rules where you could tap.
Yeah.
And there could be an honor system to it.
Sure.
You don't have to like take irreparable damage.
You know what I mean?
Not if you're a lion.
Well, then just to just to follow the thought line there.
So then say you win.
Now you have to be the alpha lion that continuously fights off,
more lions. That's right. But I wanted
and not just fight off
more lions trying to take over your pride,
but you kill
all of the young males that
your former pride head had
had sired. Oh my. It is brutal.
Yeah. Beat the shit out of you,
take over your wife.
All right there. No, just understand what I'm saying.
Then I kill both your children
and start it for half. Hang on. Hang on. How quickly
do you have sex with his wife?
Immediately.
Bro. I will leave this podcast.
because of the paint picture you're painting right now.
Same guy.
You are a heinous, big-headed loser.
You got 2% more body fat since last time I saw you.
So Peter's literally like still...
I would kill you.
He's walking down the street with a little...
A little bandana with his toothbrushes and his toothbrushes...
I don't think you...
And you're already pork in his wife.
Before you've left the house.
You better bring a gun, sir, because I would kill you if I knew what you were up to.
Why are you so worried about Forrest?
I'm not. It's just it's a bad picture to paint.
But I do have one follow.
It's an important thing to understand.
He's not a gentle lover.
Listen, she's not going to like it.
Do you understand the implications of what you're
painting in my mind right now?
I will fucking kill both of you.
Shut up. Let's get back
to the animals. I have a podcast.
Shut your butt. I don't want to talk
about it anymore. He's not a gentle lover.
Shut up. Of course he's not.
He literally like probably fucked an elephant
while he was in Africa.
Don't call your wife that.
No, your peevee would never fit in there.
Let me just ask one more question final on the lion topic.
So let's go back to the three, the bachelor pod.
So there's three of them when they come up to the pride that they're going to take over.
Now, does just one lion go one on one with the guy?
Or what are the other two do?
They just bail?
They go one on one.
Yeah.
And they bail?
They just go on their own separate way?
Pretty much.
So those bachelor coalitions will form like this pride of three.
And then, you know, they'll roam around together, but they'll branch off and come back together.
And at some point, one will branch off, go knock on Peter's door and, you know.
I see.
Yeah.
The biological instinct clicks.
That's right.
That's it.
It's really interesting.
It really is, dude.
I mean, I always say this in the pod, but like, you think you know everything about the most
common animals.
You're like, oh, yeah, like a giraffe has a big neck.
It's very short and probably the shortest animal in all the animal kingdom.
Very short, just along a neck.
But anyways, like, you think you know everything about the most common animals.
And then, like, you don't know shit.
Like there's so many, there's probably like a thousand other things I don't know about lions also.
That's right.
Even that is just crazy to think about, man.
Kyle, Kyle, give us a quick, I got the best boopin of my life.
You can do whatever you want with that information.
But Kyle, hit the plus 18 here.
Let me show, let me show this one video real quick.
Oh, boy.
Keep going. Keep going. Keep going.
Yep, that one. Watch this.
Oh, boy. A giraffe boopin.
Speaking of a giraffe.
So this was a hand-raised giraffe near to the workshop where we built the zebra thing.
But look at this guy. He was just like, boop.
Oh, wow. A gentle boop on the head with his chin.
So cool. That is so cool. Why did they do that?
No idea. He just did it that one time and never again. Just gave me a nice little head boop.
He's like, hello. That's a wild giraffe?
Hand raised. I mean, it was a wild giraffe, but I think it was orphaned or something like that.
So it's very docile around humans.
Except it wanted to kill Rhodes the whole time. The whole time.
Because he's young?
I don't know why. It was a very strange thing. But the guy who,
runs the workshop where the giraffe lives, literally picked roads up and put him on his shoulder
and sprinted towards the giraffe's like enclosed area and the giraffe galloped after him kicking his
front legs. And then he tricked the giraffe into going in and closed it because we couldn't have
roads running around with the giraffe. It was crazy. Wow, that is nuts, dude. I can't wait to watch.
Well, I don't know. Are your family going to be in the show or is that just set?
They're in segments of it, but not not that. Yeah. The show like just based on the pictures,
it looks like it's going to be insane.
Even just with the golf cart thing,
the line, like attacking the cage and shit.
Let's do some news,
and then I'm going to say,
I got to show you guys the crocodile stuff.
That's one of the most scary things I've ever done.
Well, I was going to say,
because that's what we talked about on the last episode.
Did we?
I don't even remember.
Yeah, this was gnarly.
I'm going to find some videos to share with Kyle right now.
All right, shut up.
While you find those,
I have something I need to talk about
that I've been really itching to get at
for like the past four bonus pods we've been doing
with BTG since you've been out of town and I've been looking at Pat's face and hair and you're
like 10 years older than me dude and you don't have a single gray hair like I mean you're dying
you're dying your hair are you using I thought you meant he was dying physically I feel like I'm
dying with this fucking laryngitis uh just answer the question no are you using just for men I have
plenty of gray hair sir yeah but mine's full gray and now I got gray here you got no gray hairs on top
um I do I think it might be you I
Now that I see you in person, you do.
I think the fucking, anyways, the remote must be doing like a filter to make you look.
I have suspected that whatever website we're using is doing some sort of like beauty filter as a default, but I can't find it in the settings.
I know there's nothing in the settings because I looked because I was like, you wanted it.
Why does Pat look like he's 30 and I look like normal, like a normal 40 year old?
Well, I also have pretty good lighting in my office.
I figured out.
Yeah, I should do that.
I'm not using like overhead lights.
You, you, for the remote pods, you use your computer screen to light your face.
Yeah, two computer screens.
Right.
Which is like, like, it's the ugliest possible.
It's like the reverse of a ringlight.
It's like you pick the worst.
No, no, no, no, no.
It makes you look gaunt.
I don't know how you can be overweight and gaunt at the same time.
Are you talking about?
What are you talking about?
I'm not saying you look bad.
I don't even pay attention.
It's two bright white lights.
Like, what do you mean?
What?
That looks bad?
When you're lighting like a beautiful actress, you know what you always do?
Just stick a couple of big fucking.
fucking computer screens in her fucking face.
Bro. So are you a moron, dude?
Two computer screens that are completely white are the same as two fucking lights like that.
Like, what's the difference?
Well, those lights have a dispersion over the top that's softening the light.
It's not a computer monitor is just pumping out.
This is such a weird podcast.
All right, shut up. Let's move on. I'm mad about this. Anyways.
So look, you do look ghastly.
Yeah, you're right.
It's horrible.
Jesus Christ, I thought I looked good.
Your color tint is awful.
But what the fuck?
Why is it so bright?
By the way, for those listening,
we're watching one of the bonus pods on the Patreon,
which you can get four extra pods per month.
So we do six total.
We did a bunch with BTG.
He looks great.
He looks great.
But I look like I'm living in a cave with two bright lights on my face.
That's pretty funny.
We did three while you were gone with Bradley.
How were those?
good. The first one was rough.
Oh, really? It was just, we hadn't done one with him in a long time.
Yep. And there just was no flow to it. And he just kind of just like monologued a lot.
Oh, well. And, uh, and then the second one like a minute in, uh, Peter just screamed at him to
shut the fuck up. Oh, really? And then after that, it was great. Kyle, how did you feel about
Peter screaming? Were you embarrassed? No, it was funny. No, I wasn't. I didn't even, I was just
saying that to be funny. I don't know. But it, but it like fully worked. Yeah. It was good.
I love PTCG.
I love PTCG.
I love PTCHA.
By the way, yeah, sorry, going.
No, we got tons more stuff.
Maybe I'll disperse the crocodile stuff for next episode.
But before we do that, Kyle,
yes.
Can I ask you a question?
Sure.
What's in the news?
What's in the news?
Oh, yeah.
Should we do the Bear Attack first?
Sure.
I got one I'm desperate to talk about,
but you start with Bear Attack,
and I'll sit here like a giddy little kitty.
It's always.
I don't know. It's just always interesting to me because it's such a, it's such a, it's not a fear of mine, but just having spent a lot of time in bear country and around bears and looking at bears and thinking about how fucking horrible.
Oh, a bear attack by my God. There was a hiker who went missing in Glacier National Park.
Yep. Which I have not been to. I thought you'd film there. I have not filmed in Glacier, just Yellowstone and Yosemite, but not not Glacier.
People that live in Montana are like, you have to go to glacier.
Yeah, it's beautiful.
I've driven through it.
Yeah.
Yeah, it's stunning.
Oh, boy.
Get us some picks.
What are you doing here?
Yeah, I really want to go to Glacier.
Give us a road trip Toyota or whatever the hell.
So it says a thousand bears are there and 300 of them are grizzly bears.
By the way, every frame go to that first photo that you look at.
No, the second one has a sheep in the foreground when you're there.
Okay.
It doesn't matter which way you look.
There's always a sheep.
Everywhere you turn, you're surrounded by sheep.
Yeah.
It just looks stunning.
Oh, man.
But yeah, a young man went missing.
It was discovered, had injuries consistent with bear attack.
This was on the 7th of May.
His body was discovered.
But yeah, first fatal bear attack since 1998.
Wow.
So it's interesting, right?
Because, like, clearly it's one of the most beautiful places, probably in the world to hike or certainly in the U.S.
For sure.
And you hear about the bear attack and you're like, oh, that's scary.
I don't know.
But then it's like tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands of people hike there every year.
And there hadn't been a fatal bear attack.
It's so unlikely.
It's so unlikely.
But if it does happen.
So it says here, interestingly, it came just days after two hikers were seriously injured
and a suspected grizzly attack in Yellowstone.
So that's at the same time.
Wow.
Do you know about that attack?
Yes, I did read about that.
Tell us about that one.
I can't remember.
Maybe that was the one with the young man.
wondering how it's a suspected,
bear attacks.
They must still be like in comas or something.
They're like, I don't know if that was a bear or a guy in a bear.
Yeah.
Still figuring it out.
How was that?
Yeah.
Let's see.
What happened in the Yellowstone one, Kyle?
But it is spring, by the way, and it makes sense, timing-wise, right?
The bears are coming out of hibernation.
They're incredibly hungry.
They're incredibly grumpy.
People are hiking.
So it was three days.
It was three days before the glacier attack.
A 15-year-old and 28-year-old.
Oh, brutal hiking near Mystic Falls in Yellowstone
and came upon a female grizzly with several cubs.
Boy, and, you know, it's a tough spot to be in.
It seems like there's been a lot of animal attacks going on in the past few months.
Rattlesnakes.
The rattlesnakes shits.
Oh, my God.
I won't take my kids out.
Maybe someone should make a show currently about that.
Yeah.
Well, you better do it.
Ask them for an extra episode.
So you can do Rattlesnake.
Yeah, seriously.
an epidemic of rattlesnake attack.
There's just another fatal rattlesnake bite yesterday.
Yesterday?
Another one?
The last fatal one was literally like...
Two weeks ago?
Three weeks ago?
Yes.
Yeah.
Literally like less than two miles away from where my in-laws live.
Oh, really?
Yeah.
It was right there.
Yeah, there's like, I think there's been 15 rattlesnake bites in Southern California.
What's up with that?
What's going on with that?
I don't know.
It's the numbers like way, it's like exponentially high for this time of year.
But this is,
like, so they're calling, what did we talk about?
They're called unusually warm spring.
So I was going to explain this.
So they're calling bears out in, uh, in where was that?
What we talked about?
BG, Alaska.
They're calling everything on, on Catalina Island.
Let's call these fucking snakes.
No way, bro.
So, okay, so there's a couple things.
Seven.
Rattlesnake bites so far.
That's crazy.
There's a couple things going on here.
First of all, we had a very wet winter.
You guys will recall.
We had a lot of rain this year compared to most years.
That's a good thing for reproduction of,
everything, but specifically reptiles in a semi-arid environment like Southern California.
Secondly, we've had an un, like, I believe it's the hottest spring on record ever.
Oh, really?
If I'm not mistaken in the state of California.
Oh, yeah, there was like a week or two that.
Do you remember that?
In like February.
Yeah.
Yes, yes.
So these things are those confluence of events that lead to these spikes.
Everybody likes to hike in California in the spring because it's the most pleasant time of year.
Midsummer, it's too fucking hot.
In winter, it's cold or it's wet or your days are.
short. So everybody likes to hike this time of year. Typically, this time of year, you'd have
20, 30 percent of the rattlesnakes coming out to Basque because it's 62 degrees in the morning and maybe
72 in the afternoon. But at the moment, not today excluded, it's 72 degrees in the morning and
82 degrees in the afternoon. Right. So while the weather is still conducive to being outside and people
want to go hiking because it's that time a year and it's fresh and there's water and it's green,
the snakes are out more than ever.
For this time of year.
Add to that the fact that we had an unseasonably wet winter,
which means a lot of displacement has happened,
meaning rattlesnakes burrows were flooded
and holes where they like to hang out are flooded
and there's more reproduction taking place
because any time there's more water,
there's more rodents, there's more food source,
is you have all of these situations that are leading to more bites.
There's no more snakes.
There's no more people hiking.
It's nothing like that.
It's just these various things.
things people are hiking when they like to hike because the weather's good the weather's too good
in the sense of there's more snakes out right now it's like these little minutia things that you
don't really understand unless you look at the big picture of what's going on i definitely thought
it was just there's more rattlesnakes nope nope definitely not uh yeah usually when it's there's something
like that going on it's the human behavior is dictating that's right it's like let's call
more people are going to the beach because it's hot earlier so can we call humans i i let's get humans
on the line, Kyle. No, I mean, this happens every year, like, probably literally next month,
I'll start getting all these calls from Fox and CNN and NBC and all these things going,
why do we have so many shark bites? It's like, hmm, let me think. It's spring break. It's 96 degrees out,
and it's the shark migration season. Weird how this happens around this time every single year.
Can we go back to the bear thing for just one quick thing? I wanted to ask for us.
Literally forgot we were talking about bears. But so, okay, so now there's all these bear attacks going on,
right? So what could somebody do if they want to go hiking there and and see a bear and
potentially get attacked by a bear? What do you do? Will you avoid surprising the bear?
Well, and just tell me, like, what can you? The biggest thing is avoid surprising a bear.
So, like, if you're hiking in a very bear, and obviously forest, you can jump in.
That's true. You have a lot of expertise in this, too. You know, some people, if you're hiking
alone, like, wear little bells on their shoes and things like that. Oh, interesting.
Because yeah, you just don't want a bear is not out there most likely going, you know, going, I'm hungry.
I can't wait for a fucking person to walk up.
That's right.
Yeah.
So like you can play music on your phone.
If you're hiking in a group, just like maintain conversation, things like that.
So like just making noise in general will help you not surprise a female grizzly bear with three cups.
Yeah.
Right.
So that's the big thing.
Is just like if you're walking really quietly, that's not good.
obviously you can carry bear deterrent.
Like you could have bear spray on your head.
Now, will that,
will that prevent a mother bear from getting you?
Most likely.
But so first of all,
Patrick's exactly right.
The bears are not hunting people.
Both those attacks,
the fatal and the non-fatal,
the mom had cubs,
which meant people were walking,
whether it was quietly or not quietly,
and surprised a mom.
And that's a defensive response,
not a predation response.
That bear is not going,
oh, fuck yeah,
I'm going to eat this guy.
Obviously,
they wouldn't have found the dead body and found the other two.
Right.
So, you know, can you carry mace?
Yes.
This is something I always try and explain to people, though.
Carrying bear mace, you have to be, you have to have the wherewithal to, first of all,
you surprise a bear, like Patrick said.
Then you have maybe four seconds from when the bear's surprised to when it charges.
You don't have minutes to assess the situation.
In that four seconds, you have to be competent enough to un-valchro, unlatch your bear
Mace, pick it up, aim it, take the safety off. They all have a safety and trigger it.
You have four seconds to do that. I'm not saying don't carry bear Mace, but I don't care
who you are. I don't care if you're me, BTG, anybody in this room. You're not super well-versed
in spraying Bermace. It's not like pulling up a gun and firing a revolver because you've been to
the shooting range a thousand times. Right. You don't go to the bear Mace range. Do you know what I mean?
It's the same thing as a fire extinguisher. Have you ever used a fire extinguisher either of you?
No. I've never done it. You have. It took you a minute. It took you.
to trigger it. You look at it and you go, shit, okay, there's a pin, pull that, and I'm looking
and I, okay, p, yeah, yeah. You know, it's the same thing with bear mace. It's not an instinctual,
like, boom, you know what I mean? And so bear mace is a great thing. I don't want people going out
there with a gun to shoot a bear every time they get a startled. But it's, I think this idea
that, like, I have mace, I'm protected. Unless you have really practiced with that mace,
I don't think you're going to, like, pull it out and spray that bear in the face in the
four seconds that you have from when the bear charges. I'd just like to say, uh, and point out,
you guys were making fun of me
I forget if this was on air or not
for listening to music through
my phone and by the I would never
be attacked by a bear. This was four minutes ago on air.
You are not a candidate for bear attack.
That's right.
If you're hiking, you're blasting music.
All right. Moving on.
What was the thing that you said you're giddy about
I was excited
because maybe three months ago
I read a headline.
Sloth World is coming
coming to Orlando, I think it was. Sounds great. I was like, what? 31 sloths are going to be in
Orlando in a, Kyle, pull up a, don't even get into the headline yet. Just pull up a picture of
what sloth world should have been. Orlando was building like, it was taking like a Home Depot
warehouse and turning it into this amazing walk through slotharium. Look at it. Free Roman sloths.
He just got sloths hanging above your head. That's awesome. I was going to fly the family out there
just to play sloths. I mean, it looks tremendous. Yeah, look at this. Is it in a strip mall like everything in
Florida? It's great.
Yeah, it's great.
And I was stoked.
And I was like, yeah, Sloth World.
Who doesn't want Sloth World?
Well, three or four days before Sloth World was set to open, 31 sloths died.
Oh, boy.
What's going on here?
Yeah, what happened?
I think there's like some kind of a conspiracy.
I really do.
Well.
Because, so, okay, so the slot, there's, I believe there's multiple sides of the story.
The sloths had some undetectable virus, and they all died due to a cold spike several days before
going into Sloth World in quarantine.
That was my understanding of a cow, please confirm.
But it seems really suspicious.
Right.
Okay.
That's it.
I feel like there's some ulterior motives here.
Well, what do you think the ulterior motives could be?
So just to clarify, they're fishing game reported that it's due, they died due to a cold
stunt and there was a failure in the Sloth World's heating system.
However, Slothworld themselves are denying that and saying that they had the undetected virus that Forrest mentioned.
I didn't realize this. They bought, so the sloths were purchased from Guyana and Peru.
Yep.
And arrived. And they're saying many of them arrived emaciated and in poor health.
I'm sure that's true.
Well, okay. So what's a possible like conspiracy here?
I think that there's something going on. Okay. So the story is now that we're
have some clarity. Sloths came from South America. They were in poor health. They went into quarantine.
There was a cold spike and they had a virus and that combination of things made 20 of them die.
Correct?
34.
31. 31 of them die. I think that there's something else going on here, whether it's like a drug or money laundering or
animal smuggling or something because I think it's highly suspicious that all of these sloths would
just die. 31 died on the same night. And if that's a coincidence, I honestly feel bad for sloth world.
Because they've obviously done this because they want it to be a conservation-related thing.
They want people to fall in love with slots.
Like, it's fun, you know, Sloth World.
It's great.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
I will say this.
I do see a lot of deflection going on here.
Like, Sloth World doesn't want to be culpable for this because there's going to be fines and citations.
For sure.
Heating shit broke down.
And then you have the fish and game or fish in game was the one that said that.
Yeah, Fish and Wildlife Commission.
And then Slothworld.
And then Slothworld's coming out defending saying,
you know that no that's not true this is what really happened so it does make it
appear that like there's some shenanigans going on that's what i'm saying is there's
there's and it's like oh it was called oh they had a disease well which is it you know what i mean
confounding factors if you had sloths overnight in the arctic i promise they'd all die
like i get that yeah but you know was the disease a compounding element was there a disease
and why was phishing where does fish and game get that information to put out that public
statement, right? Well, it says that they did necropsies. Yeah, necropsies on some of the sloths. And even with
that, they were sort of unable to detect what the virus might have been. Interesting. So it's,
they don't, it sounds like they don't really know. But, but it does sound more likely if 31 of them
died on the same night that the heater broke. That would be cold related. Yeah. So can you Google the guy
who was the owner, Ben Agresta? Because I want to see, because,
There's part of me that's like, okay, so this was on like international drive in Orlando, right, which is like the tourist hub in Orlando.
Had this place taken off and succeeded, this could have been an insane money making venture.
For sure.
So I'm curious if this guy is just an investor who just owns a bunch of shit in Orlando and had an idea or an actual conservationist or something?
Or if there was, yeah, if it's more of like a.
Leading up to before the sloth started dying, there was a lot of.
controversy floating around about Slothworld
in general. There wasn't just hype like
oh this is going to be so cool. There was quite a
lot of questions raised about like
where they're sourcing them. Why are they just
pulling them from the
from the wild to bring them into Orlando?
Are they pulled from the wild? Just because they came from
Peru and Guyana doesn't mean they weren't
captive bread. This is some of the things that
there was a lot of questions about.
This is like such a thing
all over the world now is like the sourcing
which is good. I mean it's good that there's attention being
drawn to it but yeah.
That's interesting.
Well, after that, what was that SeaWorld movie that was made?
Free will.
Blackfish?
Yeah, blackfish.
Free will.
Sorry, I meant documentary.
I went to the zoo two weekends ago.
Uh-huh.
And there was a huge group of maybe like 50 or 60 people.
Yeah.
Like standing right.
Protesting.
Whoa.
Testing about elephants.
So the LA Zoo doesn't have elephants.
They haven't in a long time.
They sent them to a different zoo.
but there were these women mostly
and this lady was just like following us
screaming at you guys about the zoo
just that like elephants can't live in captivity
and I was like dude I have two kids
like get the fuck away go yell at somebody else
like I'll take the flyer I'll read it
it was interesting because like
yeah I don't know like
I'm so
elephants is that true
yes elephants no elephants can absolutely live in captivity
they need to have lots of space
I mean doesn't the same
Diego Zoo have that big safari park? Are there
elephants in that? I'm sure. I don't recall.
But, okay, hang on. So I just
want to add more to the sloth thing because there's
more information. Yeah. This
guy sounds kind of shady.
So this aggressive guy. Listen, I don't know. That's my opinion.
But so
after the 30 sloths
died due to poor conditions is what this
says. But
before the, so what we just talked about,
so he initially
labeled the reports of the deaths as fiction,
then blamed a virus.
before later closing the company and filing for bankruptcy.
So he's not even going to continue on with this venture.
No, he sent the remaining sloths to a zoo, to the central Florida zoo.
Oh, interesting.
But like why?
Well, I mean, imagine the amount of bad press he's just received.
Yeah, it's probably just go, I can't put another dollar into this.
Yeah, that's not going to work.
Right, you're right.
That's probably why he did try to defend it initially.
I don't know.
Obviously, I don't think wild sloths should be caught and put into capital.
in Orlando. I don't know. It sounds from reading this little synopsis that that is what was happening.
What I will say is this. I thought the idea of a sloth world in Orlando, albeit I didn't know
the conditions or the viruses or any of that, is a good idea. People to come, slots are very
interactive. They're lazy. They hang out. Everybody loves sloths. They're popular on the internet.
If people could go to Orlando and instead of going on a roller coaster ride, spend a day
falling in love with sloths, I thought that was a good thing. Well, yeah, that's always been your
defense about zoos too. It's like, you know, you're getting people out there to actually look
and engage with animals, you know, so there's always... Well, not just that, but I mean, it's like,
to Patrick's point of the woman yelling at him about the elephant, like, Kyle, look up the number
of species that zoos have saved from extinction. It's like, I want to say it's over 80. It's like
some outrageous number. Yeah. And then all these people who are like, zoos are bad. Zos are not bad.
They're also not good. There's no blanket answer. Right. You know, like some zoos are
incredible. Some zoos are
fucking awful. Just like humans,
it's not a black or white scenario. Zos
are good, zoos are bad. Forty-eight species
it says there, right? Did I see that, Kyle?
Played a role in saving
48 species from the brink of extinction
through captive breeding. I mean,
who could say zoos are bad when 48 different
species have been said. Let's talk about some of the species.
The California Condecah, Conde,
Condor. Which one do?
Condé. Condolee Lisa Rice. Golden
Lion, Tamer. Tamron.
Tamron. All right.
Cimitar horned.
You got to get glasses.
Yeah, you really do.
It's bad.
It's either, which is the coolest out of these ones?
I mean, the condor thing was huge.
The condor thing was massive.
So why have it?
That was a bunch of zoos in California.
Santa Barbara and San Diego primarily.
Yeah.
Tell us about it.
Yeah, so California condors.
Hang on.
Who are you?
Oprah?
What do you mean?
You're like interviewing Forrest.
Oh, well, I'm just curious.
He does that sometimes.
I'm curious about the condor thing.
It's bad.
You're an idiot.
I'm sorry.
I'll just start swearing and freaking out like I was earlier again.
Both are nice.
I like when you go,
well, tell me about that.
Well, I'm curious,
and you get an iPhone.
And you get an iPhone.
Thanks for asking.
California condors are the largest flying bird in North America,
one of the largest flying birds in the world.
Look at that thing.
Due to DDT, which is a chemical that we use a pesticide.
I believe, confirm this one, Kyle.
I hope I'm not mixing it up.
The condors breeding went way, way down because their eggs got fragile and,
I think I'm missing this up.
Yeah, it was like a sterility thing, right?
Like they couldn't.
Yeah.
But was it DDT or was it something else?
Anyway, whatever.
Their population absolutely plummeted.
Yeah.
Does it say due to DDT?
Human induced factors primarily led by poisoning.
Yeah.
Thin eggshell syndrome.
Right.
So, and this is the same thing happened with the fish eagles and the golden eagles, or not fish eagles, bald eagles and stuff like that.
But basically, so DDT is a chemical that we use as a pesticide in crops.
It was like when I was a kid, every commercial, there was a commercial every break for DDT.
For DDT.
Pro DDT. Do you know what this is? Do you know what this is? You spray on your lawn even just to kill weeds.
It turns out to be as poisonous as lead and asbestos. Well, okay. So, but it bioaccumulates through
food chain. So what would happen was, what would happen was a sheep, let's say, would go into a
farmer's field, eat a bunch of stuff sprayed with DDT. It would bioaccumulate in that, in that sheep.
So the sheep wouldn't necessarily die, or maybe it would. But it would have all this
DDT in its system stored in its liver and its organs, everything else.
Then guess what? The sheep dies. In comes the condor to do its job as a vulture, as a cleanup
crew, eats this and gets poisoned. Some of the condors died just from the poisoning, but the
immediate side effect was thin eggshells. Now, as a bird, it lays an egg, goes to sit on that
egg to incubate it, cracks the egg. So all of a sudden, the condors plummeted to near extinction,
right? Look up what we're at, Kyle. I want to say it was like 30 condors total. I think it's
27. 22? 22 condors total. That's insane.
same. In the world.
That's crazy.
In the world.
The San Diego, Santa Barbara, and some others, but I just know those two were heavily
involved, zoos stepped in when it caught a bunch of wild condors, purged them, clean them,
whatever, started breeding them, and now there's how many, Kyle, does it say?
I'm curious.
And this is because of zoo efforts.
Right.
And conservation breeding and everything else.
But these people that go out there and go zoos are evil, there's now 600, which, you know, is not millions.
Well, we already talked about the exponential growth that will happen in the next 10.
10 years, you know, are they now out in the, in the public?
392 free.
And DD2 is now out odd.
Oh, yeah.
It has been for a while.
Oh, has it?
Yeah.
Yeah.
But it's also.
I remember they were spraying that shit everywhere.
All over everything.
One of the coolest things you can do, wildlife experiences you can have in the United States
that nobody thinks about or knows about is you drive to Pinnacle's National Park in California.
Yeah, I've literally never even heard of it.
Pinnacle's National Park, it's right outside of King City, California.
So in the Central Valley, it looks like this.
It's stunning.
You wake up pre-dawn.
You hike into these mountains.
And when I say hike, I'm talking about a 30-minute walk.
It's not a big hike.
Yeah, I was going to say, it's like a trail hike.
Yeah, it's a trail 30, 30, 40 minutes.
You sit under these known trees.
Type in condors, Kyle.
And as the sun comes up, see if you can, Pinnacles National Park Condor.
They're so big.
And then you're huge.
The sun comes up and they spread their wind.
to heat up and then they fly off. And anybody in the world can do this. And you can go and watch these
gigantic birds heat up in the sun and take off first thing in the morning after a 30-minute hike.
And it's, it's spectacular. Yeah, that's crazy. What other kind of stuff you have? Pinnacles,
they have Black Bear up there? Yeah, there's Black Bear. I mean, it's called Pinnacles because of the
rock formations look like Pinnacles. Then there's a creek that you can swim and I don't know if you
can fish or not. I think you can. I think you can trout fish. But yeah, I mean, it's like not hard to go and
see these birds with a nine-foot wingspan from less than 50 feet away in the while.
It's an amazing thing to do and see.
And it's just like nobody does this.
They're vultures, right?
They're vultures.
Yeah, yeah.
The second largest vulture in the world.
What's bigger?
Andy and Condor.
Let me see that.
I did know that, but let me take a quick look at an Andy and Condor size.
They're big boys.
Yeah.
That'd be nice.
Yeah, I mean, it's the size of an adult male.
That's a size of an adult.
Standing.
Standing up.
No, they're massive.
It's a crazy thing.
It looks like he's going to eat that lady.
Gosh, come and look at this if you're only listening.
It's massive.
All right.
So I have a really long flight.
It's not for a couple months.
But I've got one of those really long travel days like we used to do.
I haven't done one in a long time.
Good luck.
They're still awful.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So I, because sometimes we talk about all these trips and stuff, right?
I think there's probably a lot of people who want to do it but are intimidated by the
travel.
Yeah.
100%.
Um, so let's run through our strategies.
What's like, because you just did it.
So I have a 30 hour travel day.
I'm flying to, I fly from L.A. to New York.
Yep.
New York to Oslo, Norway.
So that's what?
What's that right?
That's like a nine hour.
Nine hour.
So it's like six.
It's not that much time in the air, but it's with the layovers.
It's like 30.
Yeah.
So, you know, six to New York.
Then I got a nine to Norway.
And then a three from.
Los Lotus Fall Bart.
Okay.
All right.
So when you have the long travel day with multiple legs,
let's run through some tips and tricks on how to make it fun because, as I always say,
the flight there, when you get to the airport, the trip, the vacation is starting.
I know how Pat does it.
I know how Pat makes it fun.
Well, but you've got to be careful with the drinking.
You've got to be careful because if you drink at the airport and then you wake up hung over
halfway through the first flight.
Oh, it's terrible.
That's a nightmare.
It really is.
You just pop a bunch of Xanax and fall asleep for the rest of time.
So, I mean, that's what my entire crew does now.
Our crew has a trick, which is that if your flight is over six hours, and I'll tell you how
we learned how to do this very specifically, because it's a funny story, if your flight is over
six hours, only once the plane wheels have actually left the ground do you take a quarter bar
of Xanax, and then you sleep for six hours and it's like you time travel.
My whole crew does that because they're on planes, you know, 50 days a year now.
So what we found out, thank God it wasn't me.
Oh, wait, were you there for the thing as well?
Do you know about that one?
I'm not sure.
Well, now you've said a name, so he took his...
Don't make any more implication.
No, I know.
I'm allowed to take a Xanax, I think.
No, I know.
Anyway, one of my crew members, not...
I think it was took a Xanax as we were taxiing.
And everybody basically does this, right, on our crew.
but we're taxying and then something goes wrong with the plane and we had to go back to the gate.
Oh, man.
And he was literally like, we had to carry him off the plane.
Yeah, because you take enough that you sleep for six, seven hours solid.
Yeah, yeah.
And then, you know, you're like getting tapped on the shoulder like, sir, we're landing.
So that's why the wheels must go up.
That's right.
As a sleep medication.
Yeah.
So you take the proper amount to sleep, but not the proper amount to be able to do anything.
Yeah, because it makes sense.
But it, yeah, anyway, I mean, that's what my whole crew does.
now. I'll do it occasionally, but you know me and like prescription drugs, I try to stay away
from that stuff. So I'll do it if it's like, the one time I'll do it is if I'm like, all right,
I'm flying for 30 hours. And then when I land, we start shooting. But that'll be, you know,
that'll be midnight my time when we land. So I know I'm going to have a shit day. So if I'm doing
that, I will calculate seven or eight hours prior, take a little bit. I can't even do a quarterbar
because I'm too sensitive to it. I'll take a little bit. And then I'll sleep for six, seven hours,
up and be like, all right, I can start my day.
You just like lick it.
Basically, yeah.
I'm very scared of those things.
A little nummy.
I'm the opposite of Peter.
I'm very, very scared of those things.
If you do it right, it can, it can, it makes a huge difference.
Because if you totally botched the travel part and you get there and you're just all
discombobbed and you're like, I need 24 hours to even just figure this out, you're
fucked.
Man, that's tough.
Is a sponsor another trick that we all use the magic mind sleep, those little shots.
Oh, yeah, yeah.
Dude, almost used one last night in my fridge, but realized that I had, I just realized I had it in there, looked at it.
It's been in there for like three months.
I was like, damn it, should I take this?
I think I still might take it.
Yeah, dude.
Well, it has an expiration date on it.
It doesn't matter.
Okay.
The difference for me is, is say I just land in India or whatever, and my time zone's all fucked up.
If I go to bed at eight or nine, fine, I can fall asleep.
But I'm going to wake up at 2 or 3 a.m. and knock it back to sleep.
Oh, yeah, that's the worst.
If I drink that little magic mine shot, I go.
to bed at nine or ten and I sleep until like five like it actually keeps me rested I don't get
that like I'm wired because it's it's you know 10 a.m. at home thing I had that this morning I should
have taken that damn no it makes a difference that's that's a good trick. All right pat you got anything
to add no I mean you know because you don't know if like oftentimes flying from the west coast
our first flight on those big long international they almost always for whatever reason
leave late at night.
So even when I was looking at options
for this Fall Bard trip,
like all the flights are leaving at 10 or 11 at night.
Yeah.
So like usually I'll try to sleep that first leg.
Right.
So I'll go sit down,
cheeseburger,
a couple glasses of red wine,
and then I'll try to sleep on the first flight.
Because if I can get like four or five hours,
you know,
on the shorter leg,
then I'm like,
I'm pretty good now.
Right.
So whatever happens on the next flight,
it's a total bonus.
Yeah.
It's like a short flight.
super power nap like you know if you get you get like a good hour or two during your regular day and you're like already you're not like you got kind of shitty sleep like you're good for the rest of the day that's like a nice five six hours like you'll be good for the rest of the time dude the other thing is if you can and you're in a situation where when you get to the place you're going like if your time clock is just so fucked up but you get there and it's daytime yeah just go for a run go outside yeah and then you kind of just be like
Like, okay, I'm still tired.
My body wants to sleep.
But if I power through seven more hours, then I'll be synced up.
Can I give you another impossible thing to do?
But if you do it, it works every time.
What is it?
Cold shower, dude.
30 seconds.
Nice and hot.
Just end it with a 30 second.
You're like, you got like two hours of instant energy.
I think there's a hard and fast rule, which is if you're landing in the morning,
sleep as much as you can.
On your flight.
On your flight.
If you're landing in the morning at your final destination, sleep as much
as you can, as many flights as you can, sleep as much as you can. If you're landing in the evening,
stay awake as much as you can. Yeah. Because then it helps you get onto clock faster, no matter the
scenario. So, yeah, because, okay, so if you're landing and it's going to be 10 p.m., just stay awake
the entire time if you can. Yeah, have a cup of coffee, watch a movie, stay awake as much as you can.
I've never thought of that as simple as that is. That is the hard and fast rule for me.
And if I'm landing in the morning, just sleep as much as you can.
What do you do to entertain yourself on these?
Because you guys especially have been doing these 30-hour, 40-hour travel days.
That's nice.
Dude, you guys are going to call me crazy.
I'm a big fan of raw dog in the flights now.
Nothing.
Nothing?
You just meditate or what?
Because I have so, and you guys probably live in the same way.
I have so little time to myself now.
Because if I'm home, the kids are screaming at me, my wife's doing something.
I'm working.
When I'm on set, I've got, or on location, I've got six people, 10 people that are running around
that want to do stuff, talk about stuff, think about work.
You might be the busiest guy that I know.
Like at AnimalCon, I was like, where do you get the energy to fucking do all this shit, bro?
Like, I'm done after doing a four-hour podcast.
You're going on to like drink until two in the morning.
I will say not to two-year horn for us.
Oh, please.
Too-away.
Last week I was sick all week.
Yeah.
And I was being such a lazy piece of shit.
Because I knew I kind of couldn't exercise.
Yeah.
And I was just like taking my kids to school coming home.
home and just like napping and shit.
And I felt like such a fucking loser.
But then I would like get up and I was all drained and shit.
And I was like, I got to get in the shower.
I've got to get this stuff done.
Yeah.
And I was like, I literally thought I was like, I wonder if Forrest does like a little like
pep talk or something.
Yeah.
Because you pretty much just go hard as fuck every day.
This is going to be sound so weird.
And thank you.
I'll take that as a compliment whether you're trying to make it one or not.
Do you remember the Energizer Bunny commercials where he just goes like,
this with the little...
Just keeps going and going.
I just...
I literally put that thing in my head.
Just keep going and going and going.
That's it.
I tell myself that.
It's like you don't have a choice.
You just got to keep going and going.
I always think about like how insane it was during that one trip.
We talked about it like years ago on the pod and a couple times after.
But I think it was you guys were in South Africa.
I know where I lay down on the trail and shit myself.
Where you literally like, you're like sick as fuck.
It's rain.
but you still keep going
until your body literally is just like
fuck you
and you just lay in the rain in the mud
and shit yourself and puke
like to get to that point
your anews couldn't handle it anymore
my whole body gave up on me that day
at least the rain washed all that puking shit off you
that only came later I had to lie there
with my pants around my ankles
in the I didn't even make it off the trail
and Patrick will remember I literally just took a step
and I was like nope and just went down
on the trail.
I could have moved two feet off the trail so other tourists didn't have to step over my
pantsless body.
And I didn't.
I just lay down right there on the trail.
Just said, well, I'm going to die now.
Well, it's great to be back in the studio.
Wait, hold on.
What about my travel advice?
Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
When's your next 30-hour flight?
It's soon.
Like the chin-strapped penguin, we discussed in a previous pod, I will just be micro-napping
the entire time.
10,000 of them.
10,000 of...
Peter, do the thing.
I'm going to tease the audience
by saying, next pod,
I've got a tasting for you guys.
Alive on-air tasting.
Oh, I'm excited for that.
I'm excited for the
Crock stories and videos
from Victoria Falls.
That's coming too.
A little BTS.
Yep.
Kyle.
Also, by the way, if you guys like the show
and you want to...
Like, there's a lot of stuff
because for us, you know,
we all work in TV.
There's a lot of stuff we can't talk
about as much on the public pods
because people at networks will get pissed at us.
On the subscriber shows, we talk about all of it.
It's the Skinimax.
Yeah.
So if you do like it, you know, it's one click.
If you're listening on Spotify or Apple Podcasts or Patreon, it's one click and you can get four more a month.
And they're really, really fun.
Also, there's an archive of like over 250.
I don't even know now.
Like we have like, there's hundreds of Evergreen podcasts.
on there.
You'll have our
days of listening
that are very,
very fun.
We love doing them.
Yeah,
it's great.
Go to wild times.
Dot club forward
slash info.
Thank you guys.
Good job.
Good night.
No problems here.
Fuck off.
Yeah,
you were going to say it.
I saw your finger go up.
I was going to say it.
That's just got us point at Kyle.
I know.
I saw what you're going to do.
Piece of shit.
Good night.
Good night.
