Starting point is 00:00:00 Have you heard of the bloop? I have not. This is crazy and terrifying. So this occurred in 1997. They believe it's the loudest sound ever recorded under the ocean. All across the Pacific Ocean, underwater microphones record this sound. Three thousand miles apart. Wow.
Starting point is 00:00:23 Here are things that were ruled out. Doesn't match underwater volcanic activity. Doesn't match a submarine. Doesn't sound like a bomb that went off. They say it's coming from the Southern Pacific near Antarctica. So to me, the only logical answer is... No farts. No farts. Here we go. Wild Times are in the studio.
Starting point is 00:00:43 What's up? How we doing, boys? I'm Forrest Galante. I am the broologist. We got a bro-sner. No, we don't. We got a pro-dozer and a brofessor here. Somebody commented that my new name is the bro loser. Wow, that's rude. I know. I love it. Real quick as we get going here, make sure you guys check out Raised by Coyotes.
Starting point is 00:01:00 It's the gear that we're all wearing. We love it. They sponsor the pod. we're in it all the time, and you can get yours right now. Honestly, though, when you farted on Kyle and I, when we walked in, you were a bro loser and I wanted to kill you. Yeah, yeah, same. Kyle, did you not want to fight him at that point in time? It lingered for maybe seven minutes. I could taste it in my mouth.
Starting point is 00:01:17 I thought you meant when you met me. So glad I was late. No, you should have been. So, fucking glad I was late. I had, I had, uh, I'll kill you. Sorry. I went to Georgia this week. Is that where you got back?
Starting point is 00:01:33 from late last night. Late last night. It did a couple cool things. First of all, I'm excited for people to see. We went to famous MLB baseball players home. Ozzy, what's his last name? Albies. Ozzie Albies?
Starting point is 00:01:45 Okay. Huge fish nerd. I know who he is, yeah. You do? Yeah, he's on the Braves. Dude, he's a... Yes, that sounds right. And he just won not a World Series yesterday,
Starting point is 00:01:54 but a regional championship three days ago. He won the World Series yesterday? He won the division. They clinched the division. Thank you. I don't watch baseball. fuck off. That's fine. But what's funny is
Starting point is 00:02:06 rock up to this guy's house. Super cool dude, hot wife, all the things you'd expect. Dude, I don't care. I'll say it. Are you there, Kyle? No. No. He wishes. I do. Dap this guy up. I'm like, what's up, man? Nice to meet you. And he's like, I got three things I love. And I expect him to say
Starting point is 00:02:23 like baseball, baseball and hot chicks or something. And he goes, fish, cars, and watches. And I was like, I like, I like this guy. Yeah. And he opens up. his garage and this guy has the most insane mega fish fish tanks in his garage. Oh, wow. Half a million dollars easy fish tank that he's built in his garage with what's he got in there? Dude, this guy, he's such a G man. He's taken a shipping container. Cut the side out of it, put a glass panel in it and he's got huge, this is it. That's his container. Oh, he's got a video
Starting point is 00:02:53 of him making it here. That's incredible, man. This guy's so sweet. Six thousand gallon? Yep. In his garage. Look at this. It's hilarious. And yeah, he's got Pacu in there. He's got Red Tail Catfish in there. Dude, 6,000 gallons. And that's one of five tanks he's got. They're not all the size, the others are smaller, but he's got other like 2,000, 3,000 gallon tanks. Man, he really does love fish.
Starting point is 00:03:13 He's a great dude, man. But then, and I go into as much depth on this as we want, then I went to the Georgia aquarium because I was there anyway. Yeah. Did you swim with the whale sharks? No, they wouldn't let me. True story. I've seen videos of people doing it.
Starting point is 00:03:26 They let people, like, snorkel in the whale shark. They let Mr. Beast come there and do a make-a-wish kid. snorkel with the whale sharks. And they wouldn't let us do it. But I think because it was such short notice more than anything, amazing. Well, they also know that you're pretty reckless. I think they thought I was going to, like, stand up and surf it. You know, like, I'm a big animal abuse guy, and I was planning on abusing all of their animals.
Starting point is 00:03:49 You're just very reckless. No, the tank's incredible. So this is the top side of it. It's three million gallons. Wow. Largest fish tank in North America. I think second in the world. There's 12 million gallons of water at this facility.
Starting point is 00:04:03 Which is an unfathomable amount of water. Yeah, dude. That's like the size of what lake or pond would you compare it to? So this tank alone is the size of a football field. That's in one fish tank. And it's unbelievable. It looks like this. So I had a great tour.
Starting point is 00:04:20 It's really interesting because I've always heard all these things about the Georgia aquarium. It's the most famous aquarium in North America. And I've never really known what to expect. And it actually changed my perspective of aquariums. Why? I'll tell you why. most aquariums that you visit anywhere in the world have a lot of smaller tanks
Starting point is 00:04:37 the Georgia aquarium has eight halls and maybe a total of 25 tanks it's not that many tanks they're just all hugely impressive size tanks so like in the shark hall there's one tank but it's got great hammerheads and tiger sharks which I don't think anybody else in North America has I've never seen a tiger shark in an aquarium
Starting point is 00:04:56 think of that a tiger shark maybe Kyle can find a video in a fish tank and greater hammerheads I've never seen greater hammerheads in a captivity evening either. And then, you know, you go into the Ocean Voyager where the whale shark is, one tank. They're just such impressive tanks. And I think what's so cool about it is in a generation and a time where we're all, there he is. Dude, that is a beautiful shark. Dude, it's big too. It's amazing. And so in it, what I found so interesting, why I say it changed my perspective is we all live this like Doom Scroll TikTok lifestyle now. We're like, fish tank, fish tank, fish tank. You just want to go through
Starting point is 00:05:27 it. When you're forced to sit there and look at the one and only shark tank, because there aren't others to pick from in the gallery, you're like, you slow down and you look at it. And you don't just like breeze by it and go to the next one and get your dopamine. That makes perfect sense. It's amazing. It's like fine art. Because like at a normal aquarium, you're kind of competing for a view. Exactly. Because it's a series of smaller tanks. And so if there's 10 people at the octopus, you can't really see it. Exactly. So you kind of just see it and then you move on. And you race through it. And you're like, what's the next thing? What's the next thing? Here you don't have a choice. There's 25 viewing windows, but it's one tank. So you just sit there and look at the tank. And it's
Starting point is 00:06:05 fantastic because you really feel immersed in it. How crazy is it seeing a whale shark in a fucking fish tank? You know, it's funny. I told the Georgia Aquarium like a PR gal who was cruising around with us. I was like, I was a little like, eh, about the idea of a whale shark in a fish tank. You know, it's kind of like having an orca in a tank. Not really, but that was the way I saw it. And then I saw it. The tank was so big that for the first, I'm not exaggerating 20, minutes, we couldn't find the whale shark. I swear to God, I'm not joking. We wasted 20 minutes waiting to do the first shot with the whale shark. Couldn't find it. Look at it. That's just one viewing window in that thing. So to answer your question, it's amazing. And I didn't feel like
Starting point is 00:06:46 the whale shark had a bad life or anything like that. I was like, it's actually outstanding. What did you have for lunch? We went out for some for some barbecue after some Georgia barbecue. Actually, Kyle, do you have that picture? Kyle didn't believe me. He said this was AI. Look at what I ordered. I went a little. Whoa. You ordered that? I went over the top. Is that one of every, is that two of everything on the menu? Let's rapid fire. See if you can go
Starting point is 00:07:10 through the list where Kyle's cursor is and identify the items that were on this way. The reason he thinks it looks like AI by the way is because your face is 40 pounds skinnier than it really is. I'll kill you. That is pork ribs. Correct. Can you zoom in? Crinkle cut fries.
Starting point is 00:07:26 Accurate. Mac and cheese. I think that is going to be chicken liver. fried. That's a guess. This one is going to throw you. Cheese curds. That's a really closer guess. Kyle, also a good guess? I would have guessed cheese curds. These are cornballs. Ah, yeah. Deep fried
Starting point is 00:07:42 corn balls. Delicious. I don't need that. You do. You're a cornball. All right, then that's surrounded by cornbread muffins. Correct. Four of them. Did you eat all of them? Sausages? No, good guess. Good guess. Good guess. What is that? Standard barbecue joint thing.
Starting point is 00:07:58 Begins with a B. Bride tip. Baby back ribs. Brisket. Oh, brisket. And tried it? Next to it? Pulled pork.
Starting point is 00:08:05 Yes, very good. Pulled pork. And barbecue chicken. You got it. We got it all. How many people is that for? Well, I pretended to Kyle that I ordered that for myself, but that was to feed four people. Did you guys polish?
Starting point is 00:08:16 No. Okay. I was going to say, that's like maybe 40 pounds of food. It was so much. That's 25,000 calories right there. On the menu, it said 7,000 calories before the sides. Yeah. Okay.
Starting point is 00:08:29 So a good 10 to 50. to 15K. Yeah. But it was great, by the way. So shout out to the Georgia Aquarium. If anybody's ever visiting Atlanta, it is
Starting point is 00:08:36 very worth it. The exhibits are incredible. The tanks, like I said, slow down, take your time, take a look at each fish tank and really enjoy it. And it's so much more immersive
Starting point is 00:08:45 than like rollodexing. That's like, that's also just general life advice. Just do that in general too. Yeah. Pat, you had a big mystery you were excited about walking in here.
Starting point is 00:08:54 Yeah. Before we get to that, though, because I am excited and I was really excited that neither of you guys had ever heard about this. Okay.
Starting point is 00:09:01 Before we get to that, Kyle, Forrest, tell everyone what Kyle's so excited about here. Yeah, so Kyle, he literally, I think he started crying. He was so happy about this. He's weeping, he's so happy. Yeah, he can't even talk right now. So we have a new feature that's going to actually allow us to engage and interact with
Starting point is 00:09:17 you guys at home even more than you are now. So instead of just writing into the show, you can leave us a voicemail. You can tell us stories, topics you want us to discuss. You can just rant like a lunatic like Peter if you want. Uh-huh. We already- Do a lot of that? Kyle put it up last night.
Starting point is 00:09:32 We already have some rants. Do we? Yeah. Yeah, there's like 10. For those who don't know, you know, we obviously love hanging out in the studio doing these pods, but we do other pods for subscribers that there are certain topics that sometimes we can't do on the public podcasts. Yeah, because we'll get canceled. Yeah, exactly.
Starting point is 00:09:53 Yeah, stories that I also can't tell in public because of, you know, stuff to do with TV shows. or things that are coming up. Stuff that's happened in my life that's very personal that I don't want to share on the mass public platform that I'd rather share to a more intimate audience. So if you're interesting in getting the bonus pods, click the link or subscribe to Spotify, Apple, Patreon, a couple other places as well, I think.
Starting point is 00:10:16 And leave us some voicemails. Yeah, four extra pods a month. And for someone, a new subscriber that subscribes this month in October, we are going to send you an out-of-stock, unavailable battle royale card game sign well sign it and send you a battle royal card game
Starting point is 00:10:35 which I don't know if any more will ever be made limited a dish yeah dude right so let's get into this mystery yeah what's it all about have you heard of the bloop I have not Kyle play the bloop for us oh wow there's an actual
Starting point is 00:10:49 I want you to hear the sound okay close your eyes Peter okay can I wait can I say what Peter can I just be Peter for 30 seconds Yep. It's an alien. It's aliens, bro. No.
Starting point is 00:11:07 That's alien sounds. I think it's a bro. Have you ever seen the movie The Abyss? Yeah. It's aliens for sure. All right. So this sound was recorded. So that's actually sped up.
Starting point is 00:11:18 That what you heard there. It's sped up to about 15 times the actual speed of the audio signature. Oh, interesting. So this occurred in 1997. Uh-huh. This is not like scientists sitting in a boat. hearing this noise, right? These are NOAA
Starting point is 00:11:38 hydrophones that are underwater microphones. All across the Pacific Ocean record this sound. In simultaneity, like they, multiple of them heard it? Yes, 3,000 miles apart. Wow. Okay, 3,000
Starting point is 00:11:54 miles apart they hear this mysterious groaning sound. Supposedly, they believe it's the loudest sound ever recorded under the ocean. So it's a super powerful low frequency sound that rapidly rises in frequency. And currently, before this, the known loudest sound was that of a blue whale, right? I don't actually know the answer to that.
Starting point is 00:12:18 It might be. I don't think it's the loudest, the loudest sound. So the name for the sound is the bloop. The bloop. And nobody has ever known what it is, even though it was recorded 2,000 miles apart. Yeah. So, well, there's, yeah, you're right. It's 2,000, not three.
Starting point is 00:12:32 There are theories And there are some people who claim to have solved it So we're going to get into that solve Peter thinks it's underwater alien activity Of course What would be a guess that So this is in the Pacific Ocean Something so loud
Starting point is 00:12:51 That the audio travels for at least 2,000 miles We only know 2000 because that's how far away the hydrophones were Right That's crazy So to me the only logical answer is seismic activity. The Pacific obviously has the San Andreas Vault, which is one of the most active seismic areas in the world. And as you have a tectonic plate shift, I imagine, not that I know anything about this, I'm not a geologist, but I imagine that shift. So for those that don't know, what I do
Starting point is 00:13:19 understand, and I could be wrong, please correct me if I am, is you have this bent up energy, this bent up energy, and then you get a slip, right? And then it bent up energy and a slip. So it's not like a constant slow move. It's like time under tension, and then you have a slip. And then you have a slip. Yeah. I would think one of those slips where two fault lines, two plates move is a massive event, energy event. And with that energy comes sound energy.
Starting point is 00:13:43 Okay. Well, let me just throw this at you. Could it be something living that made that sound? Now, keep in mind, it matches no known whale sound. There's also, that was sped up the audio that we heard. That's right. Damn it. You're good.
Starting point is 00:13:59 Leave it in. I haven't been using my sing ring As you guys, I'm using the ring mate Start drinking again No so I mean like in your head You have to really slow down That fast vibratory sound we heard
Starting point is 00:14:11 To like To think like You know what could that be Well here Here are things that were ruled out Yeah Because it doesn't match them It doesn't match
Starting point is 00:14:22 Underwater volcanic activity The known sounds of that Doesn't match a submarine Doesn't sound like a bomb That went off Okay. So they were then able to, using the timings that it hit the various hydrophones, able to triangulate where the origin of the sound likely came from. Oh, so they know where it came from. Yeah, I mean, you know, as much as we can know anything.
Starting point is 00:14:46 It's pretty insane because the ocean's so vast. It's also really impossible to triangulate sound underwater, at least to the human ear. I think with technology we can do it. Sure. But you know about that, right? Because sound travels so much faster in water than in air. Yeah. So how does that, how does that like manifest? So if I yell, hey, Kyle, from here, he, with his eyes closed, he knows the direction is from here. Right. If we were underwater and I did the exact same thing, the sound would hit him in a 360 degree. So he'd have no concept of the direction that sound came from. Do you know, do you know how we are able to determine where sound comes from or like which direction sound comes from with our ears? It's the folds in our ears, dude. I learned about this recently. It's so if we didn't have folds or if you cover. the folds up, like, and close your eyes. I could be talking to you from right here. You'll think I'm like over there. Really?
Starting point is 00:15:36 It's insane. So does someone with like cauliflower ear, like a wrestler or MMA fighter, like have trouble? That is a good question. That is a good question. By the way, I watched a recent USC fight. Sorry, I don't want any dog leg, but worst cauliflower ear I've ever seen. I almost vomited. Okay.
Starting point is 00:15:50 All right. So these things are ruled out. They triangulate. They say it's coming from the southern Pacific near Antarctica. Okay. Antarctica. Does that change anything for you? Yes, I would say, if it's coming from Antarctica, okay, I haven't looked at this.
Starting point is 00:16:07 I know that we have some of the show doc in front of us that tells us the answers. That would mean to me a huge iceberg cracking because we know for a fact that that makes a lot of sound. Like if Kyle can pull up videos of when icebergs fall, it's a huge loud event. I've heard it many times and it's when you just hear them calving and cracking. It's amazing. It's just this like guttural thing that vibrates. and you just feel the, like you feel how tiny you are. Let's take a gander.
Starting point is 00:16:35 So I'm, I love this, by the way. I could watch, should we just create a YouTube channel that's 13 hours of icebergs cracking? It's pretty cool. I would watch that. Dude, I would. So a lot of times, like in Greenland, dude, you'll be standing out by the ocean. And you'll hear that and you look and you can't see anything because nothing's moving yet. And it's just the cracking.
Starting point is 00:16:54 It's just the cracking. And you can't tell where it's coming from. And it's rumbling through the. So my guess now, based on the triangulation, is that they say what? It's only like 10 or 20% of the iceberg is above water or something like that. My guess is it's a giant ice shelf cracking and it's the underwater reverb. Let's turn to the sound one more time. Now, this sped up 15 times.
Starting point is 00:17:19 This is the only one I can find. I can't find the original. That's okay. It's still really interesting. It's like. Kyle slowing it down. Yeah, because I'm trying that. So he's very.
Starting point is 00:17:30 very vibratory. Almost like pulsing. Yeah. But like much slower than we're hearing it. It's like, very spaceshipy. I know. I know.
Starting point is 00:17:43 You're correct. I am correct. That is the leading theory for the bloop is that, you know, among scientists is that, I think, you know, based on the location, that that's what they think is the giant
Starting point is 00:17:58 iceberg. It was just a massive, massive ice cracking and fracturing and creating the loudest sound in the ocean that's interesting that's ever been recorded
Starting point is 00:18:12 it makes sense to me and it's probably happened many other times and we've just never recorded it yeah do you know what I mean it's the whole if a tree falls in the woods did it really make a sound thing you know if the iceberg cracks
Starting point is 00:18:24 and there's no hydrophones to hear it did it make a sound? I have a breaking mystery I'm not joking actually breaking. Kyle, pull it up. That's why I was on my phone. And it's weird because my phone is on Do Not Disturb. And this came through. This came through right the second. Kyle, read it aloud from Ryan, please. Guys, we make predictions every single day about politics, pop culture, the economy, the biggest stories making headlines. Kelchie, America's number one prediction market platform,
Starting point is 00:18:48 lets you trade those predictions in a live market. All right. Peter, you've got a prediction, a trade that you're very excited about. Dude, it got me on to Kelchie. They have a prediction. Will the U.S. confirm that aliens exist before 2027. By the end of this year. That's right. Okay. I'm putting 100 on it.
Starting point is 00:19:07 No, you're not. I'm so confident. My wife is not happy with it, but I could win up nearly two grand. You have a 5% trance of winning. According to Kalshi, Peter thinks it's 100%. Clearly. There's $1,994.46 to be exact. That's right.
Starting point is 00:19:24 On Kelshi, you're trading against peers in a live market, meaning there's no house. And as the probability changes, you can buy in and out. of your position. I have a missing tortoise situation. and was curious if you have any recovery tips. A missing tortoise. It's not good. Read more.
Starting point is 00:21:06 It belongs to a client on a very large estate in Montecito. Oh, yes. It's fairly small, maybe around the size of a small dog bowl. One of the assistants put it outside for some fresh air, and it disappeared. It's been about 24 hours now. They put out some water and food to try and attract it back. Any suggestions on where or how they should be looking or anything else they could try. I can give more info on the species if that would be helpful.
Starting point is 00:21:30 Okay, so first of all, I am going to ask Ryan for the species because that would be helpful. What would you guys do in this scenario? I would play that sound we just heard. Tortoises do love that sound, they said. I left that out. I mean, I would have started with exactly what they did. I would have put food out. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:52 How is tortoises hear well? Do they have a mating call? These are all good questions. So tortoises do have a decent sense of hearing. they do not have a mating call. They don't do much vocalization outside of humping. They just see each other in fact. Pretty much.
Starting point is 00:22:07 You should listen. Get some tortoise humping sounds. Slowly walk on to the other ones. Listen to this. Oh, God. It's, yeah, let's listen to some tortoise humping real quick. This should be making any sound. Tortus humping.
Starting point is 00:22:17 We're trying to help these people. We are. This is for science. Okay, so he's going to hump a shoe. Wait for it. It sounds like a cat. No, this is bad. Find salt cados.
Starting point is 00:22:28 Is it making that noise? I think so, but I've never heard that. So I would just take a squeaky, I'd go to the pet store and a squeaky toy. So I caught a humping a pumpkin. Go to that one, Kyle. Four down. Hey, Stan Lake here. Hey, Stan. I've got a, that's it. Sounds like a duck.
Starting point is 00:22:46 Like a sick duck. So yeah, I'd get a Bluetooth speaker and play that sound over it. A duck with a sort of one. I don't know. No, that doesn't make any sense. I'd put food out. And I'd also be like, fuck, did something come eat my tortoise? So that's the most likely scenario is unfortunately where we live in Santa Barbara or Montecito, which is the nice neighborhood or the wealthiest neighborhood is there's a lot of meso predators, raccoons and skunks and possums. And so that could go poorly for the little guy. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:17 More than likely, though. Because they could dig it right out of the shell, right? Oh, yeah. They'll just crack through the shell and eat it. Okay. Damn, relentless. But, okay, so I'm going to assume it was a sulcata because that's the most common. It could be a Russian or something like that.
Starting point is 00:23:30 What I would do, Ryan, and I will text him back, is look at the place that it was last seen and look for the closest bit of heavy coverage. Tortoises don't want to be out in the sun, just like when we found fern. Yeah. Yeah. They don't want to be out in the sun. They don't want to be exposed, especially during the day. They're going to go look for somewhere to get under the bushes.
Starting point is 00:23:49 And it's been relatively warm, so there's a good chance that they're going to dig a little burrow. And I would just spread out and do a 360 grid from the area that it last. obviously eliminating, you know, houses and buildings and things where the animal couldn't move through. And look for signs. So digging, scratching, tortoise tracks are very, very clear. If there's any available dirt, you could see the tortoise tracks. And otherwise, you're just going to have to put in a lot of time and close off the area. Like if it's a fenced in area or a gated area or something like that, close it off.
Starting point is 00:24:18 That's a tortoise track? Well, it's got a really, really distinct. The one with the car track is the best one. I would say that's the, no, up to the right, that's a sea turtle. down to the right down that one that's the most like accurate representation to me it almost looks like human feet the way it leaves the prince well because what they do is they step and then they drag their toenails and step their toe dragers they are real toe draggers yeah um is this going to end up with you at this person's house later this evening i would say 90 to 95 percent yeah yeah that's fun uh hopefully
Starting point is 00:24:51 the tortoise is still alive i hope so too i hope we can track it down sort of feel like it's it's not Because how far is a tortoise moving in a day? A tortoise that's the size of a small dog bowl? The fact that it's been gone for 24 hours is bad. If they had called me and said, hey, he's been gone for three hours, I could probably have found it in half an hour. But 24 hours, you'd be shocked how much ground they can cover. That tortoise could be two miles from where it disappeared by now.
Starting point is 00:25:16 Now, do you think, do you, so you don't think that one of these predators came in and snatched it from where it was? Do you think it took off and then got snatched later? Much more likely. Oh, yeah, that adds like a huge variety of confusion. Now, it's so dependent. I don't know the garden. I don't know the area. It might be one of those beautiful manicured estates and it's just sitting under a rosebush.
Starting point is 00:25:37 But it could be the kind of place that's got a ton of wild foliage and ground cover and stuff, in which case, good freaking luck, you know. Dude, I'm going to just quickly dog leg this. And then I want to get into something else. But so I went to the, I went to a Chargers game on Sunday. Okay. Okay. That's a football team.
Starting point is 00:25:55 Yeah. Thank you. I was Googling. American football. It was a Russian tortoise, by the way. Russian tortoise. Okay. That is the size of a dog dish. And, you know, where I sit, I have good seats, right? So I sit five rows up off the sideline on the visitor's side line. Brague, yeah? And the... Humblebrake. No, it's important to the story. Okay. So you ever seen a kicker in the NFL warm up getting ready for a field goal? Yeah. There's a net. And they kick the ball from
Starting point is 00:26:21 fucking six inches away into the net. Yep. Repeated place. And their toe basically hits their forehead after they kick the ball. That's the punter, yeah. But so Chad Rylund, who's the kicker for the Arizona Cardinals, is warming up, whatever, I guess. I don't know. I don't know what the fuck he's doing. And three guys sitting next to me that were tourists, they'd come in to visit from China. They were really excited. They were having some cocktails, having the fucking time of their life. We were talking a little bit. They were rooting for the chargers and all of a sudden I just see a ball
Starting point is 00:26:54 coming at 70 fucking miles an hour and this guy's turning and talking to me very excitedly. This Chinese tourist yeah uh-huh and it just drills him in the back of the fucking head no way for real and it's end over and I'm like what the fuck
Starting point is 00:27:09 this fucking dickhead kicked a ball there's a net six inches away and he's shanked it directly to the left blast this guy in the head Did he get to keep the football? No. They always take it back.
Starting point is 00:27:23 The fucking cop. And, you know, I'd had quite a few drinks. I'm like, keep the ball. Yeah. And the cop is like asking for the ball back. And Chad Ryland, the guy who kicked it doesn't wave, doesn't walk over and say sorry. He's motioning to get the ball back angrily. And I'm like, no, do not throw it back.
Starting point is 00:27:41 Dude. You know, I always have a pocket knife on me. Oh, wait, did they? No, that's not him. That's the, that's the chargers. You know, I always have a pocket knife. on me, I would have just seriously.
Starting point is 00:27:52 But the cop is like looking and I and I just go, he's keeping it and the cop's like, you gotta kick you out. So what happened? Yeah, what was? They got nervous and threw the ball back. Oh, come on.
Starting point is 00:28:02 He was okay, but he got hit. He dumped his drink all over his friend. And so then I was just fired up, man. I had a couple more drinks after that. And so then I went on to the kickers Instagram and sent him a message. I was just like, you're a piece of shit. Did you really?
Starting point is 00:28:18 Yeah. Get a drunken... I did. No, when I got home. Of course. Nine drinks later. And then I woke up in the morning. I was like, mm.
Starting point is 00:28:27 Shouldn't have done that. That's not good. Did you delete it? Yeah, I deleted it. He saw it for sure. He came up in his notifications. It didn't show his red. But you know what's funny?
Starting point is 00:28:35 But I thought if I did that and I hit someone in the head, he was only 60. I mean, he saw it. Yeah. I wouldn't be angrily motioning to give it back. I would walk over and be like, oh my God, are you okay? Yeah. Yeah, it's a dick. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:28:47 Anyway, fuck that guy. Oh, that's because he kicker. So we're doing something new. We started this on the last pod. We've listened to the listeners and the viewers and the Browsners. The Brousners. And the feedback we've gotten is they love hearing stories of personal wildlife encounters. Maybe even kind of scary ones.
Starting point is 00:29:08 They really like that. So we're trying to do one in every show. Okay. So in the last show we did Lions because you had just tried to ride a golf cart into a pride of lion. I survived. That's what matters. It sounds so ludicrous. Your camera guy barely did.
Starting point is 00:29:21 Barely. So I just am going to throw an animal at you and I want to hear a cool story about a close encounter you've had. We should do this every episode. You just throw the animal at me and I'll see if I've had a cool encounter. Or if you've had one. Sure. But don't just do obscure things. No, I'm not going to.
Starting point is 00:29:38 Fairy mall. No, I want to go with an animal that I know you've been around because you used to live near them. What's your favorite hippo story? Oh, wow, coming hot out the gate. Yeah, dude, hippo. I mean, because a lot of people have seen hippos at the zoo. Yeah. You know, I've never had an actual encounter with a wild hippo.
Starting point is 00:29:59 I've had too many, unfortunately. I've got several, and I think I've actually told... But you've talked about Columbia lately, I feel. Did I mention the Columbia one? Oh, that's all right. I've got three, if you haven't listened. I've definitely told the termite mound story before, which is probably the close I've ever come to being killed by an animal in the field.
Starting point is 00:30:14 Well, you've got to just tell that now, then. Do I? I was going to make them hunt for it through the archives. No, if you told that story, it was like five years ago. Oh, okay. Well, all right. So I've had several encounters with hippos. I've had a canoe flipped.
Starting point is 00:30:28 One of the craziest ones ever was I was in Zimbabwe and Manipools. This was about 2004. And I was taking my girlfriend, Jess, who's now my wife, to see the area that my family ran safari businesses, where we grew up. And I was, you know, I was also just like, you know, we got to be here. You? Cocky? I know.
Starting point is 00:30:46 Shocking, right? But I was like, you know, I know what to do. Like, I grew up here. It's not a big deal. You know, come with me. And so this is a, the reason I preface it with that is I should have been more aware, but it's also a situation you could never predict for. Anyway, long story short, there was three of us.
Starting point is 00:31:02 My buddy Nick was with us as well. And we had legendary a guide who used to work with us, stretch Ferreira with us, blah, blah, but the long story made short is we're walking down a game trail, meaning like a path that animals had created. It was dry season. And you could see that a lot of animals. have been here. And we were all running around looking for snakes and, you know, just like looking for wildlife, having a great time. And sort of lost track of one of the main rules in the bush,
Starting point is 00:31:25 which is to always walk in a straight line and, you know, single file and keep your eyes out and blah, I didn't know that. That's interesting. Why did you break that? Just because we were, we were, there were termite mounds, we were looking for cobras. Okay. Oh, you were exploring. We were very relaxed because I was showing off. I was, this was a area I'd grown up. I wanted to show my, my girlfriend. She'd never been there before. Now my wife. I wanted to show my best buddy, Nick, who the guy we called recently on the pod, I want to show them my home. And so I was, you know, I'd sort of like broken protocol to do these things. And a long story made short, we were following this game trail.
Starting point is 00:32:00 It was dry season. And that's an important piece of the story. And so we were walking down this game trail a little bit spread out. And we came over a rise. And as we came over that rise, there was a steep drop off. And there was a hippo, a large bull hippo sitting in a shell. A pan. A pan is a seasonal wet pool that dries up every season. But because it was dry season, the hippo was sitting in it by himself. The pan was only maybe the size of our studio.
Starting point is 00:32:27 But it wasn't deep enough for the hippo to submerge. The whole area was covered in massacetries. And so there was only one way in, one way out, and we were on it. And so as we did that, the hippo was on his way to exiting the pan anyway to head back to the river down the game trail. Oh boy. Startled this hippo. And hippos, I've said this many times, they don't have a fighter flight response. They have a fight response. Yeah. And so we startled this hippo. We were probably 40, 40 feet away from it, and it came charging out because it couldn't submerge because of the dry season.
Starting point is 00:32:58 So hippos, when they have the ability to submerge in water, they feel confident they won't attack. But when they don't have that ability, especially during the day, because they're primarily a nocturnal animal. That's when they come on land. Oh, interesting. They get very, very defensive and aggressive. Anyway, we came up over this rise. We were all having fun and like, make, you know, We weren't pretty loud, but we were making noise. And this hippo got startled, and it just charged full send.
Starting point is 00:33:21 So it comes out of the water, which was only about knee deep at the point it was at, running at us full speed. Sorry. What's the time difference between you going, oh, there's a hippo and it charging? Three to four seconds. It was almost instant. Instant. Like we came up because it was one of those things where the line of sight was formed immediately. So as you came over the rise, he saw us because he was coming out anyway, and we saw it.
Starting point is 00:33:45 And we were spread out. Had we been in a single file line, we could have maybe like tucked to the side together or something, but we were too spread out. And this is why it was such a crazy thing. And so we come up and this hippo just starts full send charging. And they can run 40, look it up call 45 miles an hour, I want to say. And I've got Jessica right next to me. And she's a hundred pound 30 miles an hour, which is still a car going down a residential street. Yeah, faster than Hussein Bolt will ever run.
Starting point is 00:34:13 Yeah. You know what I mean? Yeah. And anyway, so this hippo. charges and basically I'm on the game trail and Jessica's standing next to me and she sort of freezes in fear because she's never experienced anything like this and I grab her and I push her as hard as I can and I shove her behind a termite mound and as I push her the hippos got its mouth open and it's from you to me Peter with its mouth wide open. I've seen to meet a fucking pumpkin and a
Starting point is 00:34:39 watermelon dude. At full send though and aggressive and it was so close to me that I could feel the heat of its breath on my body as I dove. And as I dove, it turned and tried to bite, but I literally dove out of the way. And I put a termite mound between me and the hippo. And thankfully, it was on such a fast trajectory that it just kept going down the path and didn't turn back. Yeah, he's just like, I can't stop now. Like, it's easy. While tearing Achilles. I am 100% sure that if I hadn't pushed Jess and I had just got out of the way, she would have been killed. One hundred and ten percent sure. You're talking about literally a car. You have this much reaction time.
Starting point is 00:35:17 And the weight of a car. Right. Like a legitimate with a mouth. A legitimate car that is consciously, actively with a brain trying to run you over and eat you at the same time. And super aggressive and it was crazy. And then Stretch was like yelling at us because we weren't breaking. It was like a whole thing. But anyway, nobody got hurt. It was very, very close. I think that was that was one of those times where when you tell the story, you're like,
Starting point is 00:35:41 okay, you had a hippo charge and you ran out of the way. But it was it was the difference of, I'm not joking, a fraction of a second between living and die. Like if someone shot it with a high speed camera, like, you would see like your foot and its mouth closing and the foot slowly. I felt its breath. It was that close to me as it turned its head. Did it smell? I mean, just hot. It was just adrenaline, you know, there was no feeling it.
Starting point is 00:36:02 But like, it wasn't like that. That's a slow, like, get out of my way with its mouth open. This guy was full send with his mouth open. My God, is it a stupid looking animal? So cool. So. So let's just show me the do your best acting here. You just dove behind the termite mound forgetting to push your girlfriend out of the way.
Starting point is 00:36:23 Oh, God. And you see the hippo running down the path with her in its mouth. Let me see, ready? I want to see the look on your face and action. I got my girlfriend killed. But it wouldn't, it wouldn't have run off with her. It would have just trampled her and gourd her into the ground. Oh, God.
Starting point is 00:36:39 That's awful. Yeah, it would have been really, really bad. you know what you could do is like uh as just like a little prank um when you get home tonight and like if she's standing over by the couch just run over and shove her onto the couch really hard and just yeah all hippo
Starting point is 00:36:54 and just be like oh god I just it must have been PTSD I thought the hippo lashback the hippo was charging and I just do that like once a week just to keep her you know keep her on her toes that's smart and in case we ever go back yeah she knows yeah she got to prepare her she should just wear like a full football helmet
Starting point is 00:37:11 and pads what was the hippo thing because John Randano, a sound guy that we've both worked with a lot, sent me a cryptic text a while ago about something to do with a hippo. Did it say this is my nightmare? Yeah, something like that. I never got the full story because I haven't seen him since. We were down in Columbia, Kyle, you can find some images and clips from this show, but we were down in Columbia catching Escobar's hippos when I went to that project.
Starting point is 00:37:36 And one of the things we wanted to do was track the hippos to where they're the biggest problems and where people cannot catch them, which is on these highly dense jungle islands on the Rio Magdalena, the river down there where the hippos have infiltrated. And are these the same size? Like, have they changed it all because they're in Columbia?
Starting point is 00:37:55 I mean, they've changed their behavior a little bit here and there, but they're just, they're the same size and they're absolutely massive. Okay. I think there's other shots and stuff, Kyle, but it doesn't really matter. But, you know, they're still, this is,
Starting point is 00:38:06 we film this. They're big hippos. Yeah. Anyway, we're walking through this dense jungle island. And as we're going there, it's, it sucks because in the scenario I just explained with Jessica, you're in Bushfeld, meaning like, for the most part, it's relatively open with scattered trees and high grasses. So you have visibility. Yeah. This is in a Colombian jungle. Yeah. I'm talking like, you couldn't see from me to Kyle. Right. You know, like there's no visibility.
Starting point is 00:38:32 It's dense trees, mosquitoes everywhere. It's crazy. Anyway, as we're walking out to look for where these hippos are hanging out, which is in a wet, again, a pan, a pool on this island in the middle of the Rio Magdalena, John Rondano, where we're just chatting and everybody's like, I think JQ asked me, he goes, what do we do if the hippo charged? I go, just get up a tree, just get away. Like, get out just from like the experience I just explained, like get off of the path that you're on so that the hippo can, you know, break its line of sight. And John goes, he's got this huge, he's got 45-pound sound pack that sound men wear as a fanny pack, right? So they wear it. around their waist. It's not like on your back. And he goes, John Rondana goes, this is my nightmare.
Starting point is 00:39:13 He's like, there's nothing like you guys can all drop your cameras or scatter in every direction. Yeah. I got a weighted vest or a weighted fanny pack. He's got a 40 pound fanny pack. And by the way, I've carried them on long hikes before to help out. It's a nightmare. They throw your balance off. Sure. Yeah. You really have to get used to it. You don't move well with these things on. And so he says this and we kind of like chuckle like, ah, you know, whatever. And we keep walking. And similarly to the story I just told, but with not quite as close of a call. We come up on the hippos, but because of the lack of sight, we actually, we come up to an area where we come up sort of a rise, and I even climb up a tree, and we're
Starting point is 00:39:50 looking at a couple hippos sitting in this waterway that's probably twice the distance from me to Kyle, maybe three times. You know, it's like maybe 50 feet away. Okay. And there's enough jungle and vegetation stuff that we don't like really worry about it. And we're looking at them. And then all of a sudden we hear, there's another one that we haven't seen. Yeah. And you just hear bushes go. Oh my God. That's terrifying. And everybody just literally, I think I yelled, run!
Starting point is 00:40:15 And everybody just fucking scrambles in every direction. Yeah. Except for, guess whom? John Rondano, who can't fucking run with a 40-pound fanny pack on. So he literally just like clings to a tree and starts like shimmying in a circle around it while everybody's sprinting in every direction. Wait, wait, wait, describe this better. Show me what he did. Stand up, please.
Starting point is 00:40:38 So, please. So we're standing watching hippos and it's like, hey, Mitch, get a shook. And then all the hundreds of, and it's a, and I'm just like, run! And everybody starts running. And John Rondano goes like this. He goes, he goes, I don't know if the cameras could see that because I just hid behind our light. It's okay.
Starting point is 00:41:04 We saw it. I saw it. That's all that's important. Essentially just, just random panic movements. Yeah. Because he's got 40-pound pack. You can't run through the jungle. And of course, he's in crocs.
Starting point is 00:41:15 I forgot to mention he never wears real shoes. Of course he was. And so he just like starts hugging a banana tree or something. It's weird to wear crocs to the... No, it's better than moon boots. American jungle. And luckily, the hippo, we saw it a few seconds later as everybody was running. And just by some miracle, nobody was running the way that the hippo was running.
Starting point is 00:41:35 So if the pan was here and we were watching here, the hippo that was out that started yelling and making grunts ran this one. way. It didn't run where we were. So we saw it through the trees at like 30 yards or so. And there's John Rondo. So, so Pitch, he is what I imagine he looks like that. Doesn't it make sense that he's wearing crox? Yeah. I mean, I'm sure he's wearing crocs in this video. I'm sure of it. That's what I'm looking for for. I'm certain of it. He's always wearing crocs. There's Mitch running. But yeah, nobody actually, there's his pack. So you can see it there. And this is his usual gate, by the way. Just press play, Kyle, on his speed of movement.
Starting point is 00:42:10 this is like a standard John Rendonno gate yeah he's never opened his eyes more than like 116th of how much you can open your eyes bright rose colored glasses he's not able to it will burn his eyes he's one of my favorite people to travel with like he's very he's just so cool he was wearing those exact shoes in this scenario I'm not even remotely kidding if you're only listening he is wearing a pair of
Starting point is 00:42:34 white crocs in the jungle that one of his children has scribbled all over with a magic mark He's got a very, uh, the dude from the Big Lobowski vibe. He's essentially that character. He's got that vibe. He's very good at recording sound. I haven't even heard anything he said just by his gate alone. That's where I get that vibe from.
Starting point is 00:42:52 Dude, that's amazing. He was very mad at me after that because he's like, I told you, this was my nightmare. The one thing that I think one day might get me is a hippo charging at me. I couldn't go anywhere. Nothing bad happened, but it was a real scare. Like, what was? I wish you got that on video him just. just doing circles around banana.
Starting point is 00:43:11 Oh, dude, I wish to. What was such a jump scare about that compared to like the Africa story I told? The Africa story was like line of sight and reaction. Nobody could see the hippo in this. The sound you described is terrifying. And that's what it was. And branches and shrubs breaking.
Starting point is 00:43:26 But like a bulldozer was running through the jungle. Like a hippo charging and grunting sound. And also, Forrest, correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't hippos responsible, the number one animal responsible for human, deaths? Sure are. Not including insects.
Starting point is 00:43:41 Sure are. That's great. In Africa, the number one large animal, yeah. No, not including insects. Look at this thing. Look at this thing.
Starting point is 00:43:51 God, he's mean looking. They are so mean looking. They're tanks, dude. This guy's going to take on that car, by the way. Oh, yeah. He'll flip it. He'll flip that car. He could have easily flipped that.
Starting point is 00:44:02 Oh, yeah. Yeah, it's a tank. That's terrifying. That is fucking crazy. Do the one where the hippo charges the boat and the speedboat is running away from it? That one's, It's crazy.
Starting point is 00:44:10 Man, they are such a fascinating creature. You would never think this about hippos. You're like, oh, you just see their ears and their eyes poking out of the water. Their faces are really cute. No, they're adored. And their bodies are hilarious. It's like a bear. You're like, this thing's cute.
Starting point is 00:44:25 And then when it changes, it's my. Holy shit. This is crazy. Yeah, watch this one. So this is someone on a boat and a hippo is pissed. It gets. And it's basically making like almost a serpent. It's creating a wake.
Starting point is 00:44:35 Dude, how fast can they go in the water? It looks like a sea creature. Wow, it caught up with them. Oh, my God. It's the size of the boat. It gets worse. Dude. There's a moment where he's like right behind the boat with his mouth open.
Starting point is 00:44:49 I think it's coming. There's an air of security being in a motorboat, you would think, right? You would think, and that's part of the problem is you think there is and there isn't. Whoa. Either way, dude, like the way that it just, you never see this kind of footage like of a hippo. You just see them like, and. There's the hippo waiting in the water. This is the one I'm thinking of, Kyle.
Starting point is 00:45:13 What are they eating, by the way? Vegetation. Okay. Just sea grass. No, they're not carnivores. Most, like, really big things aren't. Yeah. They've actually shown now that they do make fish a small percentage of their diet and have even
Starting point is 00:45:25 been documented eating carrion. Just because their mouths are so big and all the fish swimming. Yeah, this is the one I was thinking of. Look at him. He's just like, come here. So a hippo chases a tour boat in Botswana. How stoked are you to be at the front of this boat? Yeah, you just don't.
Starting point is 00:45:39 to the guy in the back. Dude, any part of it. By the way, the driver's laughing his ass off. He knows he can outrun it, I think. Okay. But these boats, I went on one in the Ocavango right where this is. That lady's really scared. There's a woman in the middle of this boat.
Starting point is 00:45:52 Terrified. They do chase-based hippo, and she is terrified. The hippos do a nice breaststroke. Yeah, that's good. Dude, the best boat name I've ever seen was right here. Serosis of the river. Smart. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:46:04 It was such a good boat name. How do they do, you know, how do they do like the canoe and kayak tours? You have to understand how to, because that was what I did. So the only safaris I ever led was when I was 14 years old and I was by myself as leading a safari and I did canoe safaris down the Zambizi River. You have to read the hippos and understand where the hippos are and how to do it. And there's various tricks you do. Like you smack the water with a paddle and then the hippos stick their heads up and look because they're curious what that sound is. And then you can read where the hippos are and you canoe around their pods and things. If you give them space, there's
Starting point is 00:46:39 no issue. But what happens that you can never predict for is sometimes you accidentally corner them, you know, or make them feel threatened or trapped. And then, like I said, hippos, they do not have a fight or flight. They just have a fight response. Man, it's crazy shit. Yeah, they're awesome. Dude, that's... Check out this thing I just found. Kyle, see if you can find it. It's this lady in Zimbabwe and she's got like a warthog and hippo rescue. Did you see that? I think I texted it to you. He doesn't really read your text. No, he really doesn't. especially when he's home now that he's now that he's wiped up yeah he's done with us after 7 p.m. he checks out yeah um he's just too busy making a bo-buby i don't know i think i sent it to you on
Starting point is 00:47:20 instagram it doesn't really matter but i found this lady who's just got like a pet hippo that she raised and like a thousand warthogs that hang out with it it's bizarre yeah it is now let's move on to something different okay i'm just kidding wait why i don't know just say warthogs and hippos it's pretty Pretty fucking lame sexually. It's absolutely not. It's awesome. The hippos are cool, but are they going to fight? I got a game prepared.
Starting point is 00:47:44 Let's go. It's the first time we're ever going to play this game. I don't think it's going to be the last. Okay. Because if I was driving listening to this show, which sometimes I do, I would like to play along with this. I think there's going to be a very good play-along game. I'm excited. Let me get a jingle.
Starting point is 00:48:02 I knew he was going to use that one. That's horrible. Yeah, it's real. That's a good one. I like that one. Should we go through a couple of? No, just real quick, Kyle, real quick. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:48:13 Go to Spotify. Okay. This is great. Are we going to get copyright strike for playing this? Yeah, but it depends on. No, we will for sure, for a fact. Hang on. You know, another comment I read is that on our YouTube,
Starting point is 00:48:27 Dead Air is better than when Peter talks in between when you guys are trying to do something. I was like, that's, okay, thanks. I didn't know if you were joking. Well, while you... Type in Hollywood Squares. Oh, I see what he's doing here. I want to make this like a real game show situation.
Starting point is 00:48:43 Uh-huh. Uh-huh. Uh-huh. Oh, I don't think we'll get copyright struck for this. Go to the one by, uh... The Google Dolls. The TV Toonsters. TV Toonsters.
Starting point is 00:48:51 Six down. This one. This is the theme I want for this game. Okay. Oh, this is legit. I like it. This game... It's two and a half minutes long.
Starting point is 00:49:01 Let's listen to the whole. Let's play while we're playing the game. Okay, set it up in your best game show, presenter voice. All right. Welcome to Welcome to higher or lower. The only game that you can play along with while you're driving safely. Okay. It's the only game that's ever been played on a podcast. You can safely drive and play along.
Starting point is 00:49:26 All right. All right. That was bad. Stop the music. Let's get into the game. I want to bail on the game now. And the podcast. Okay. So I'm going to read a fact. Okay. You guys tell me if the true answer is higher or lower. Ooh. Okay. I like this. And we'll alternate who goes first.
Starting point is 00:49:46 Okay. Okay. Okay. All right. The maximum recorded jumping distance of a red kangaroo is 30 feet. Peter, you go first. Is it higher or lower than 30 feet? Lower.
Starting point is 00:49:59 That's ludicrous. Higher 32 feet. No, shut up. Someone got it right. Forest. Forest gets the point. Is it 32? 42 feet.
Starting point is 00:50:10 Holy smokes. That's four basketball tall lengths. Yeah. Basketball hoopla. Plus a toddler. But yes. Yeah. What's that?
Starting point is 00:50:19 Plus a what? Plus a toddler. That's, dude, do you realize how to believe? It really is hard to believe. Picture a 42, picture a three-story building. That's 42 feet tall. If I could jump 42 feet horizontally, I would be the happiest person in the world.
Starting point is 00:50:32 I would get places so much. I would jump to lunch. Like when we leave here and go to lunch, it's probably around 42 feet away. You probably overshoot it. Yeah. 42 feet. I mean, what would be cool is like if you just needed to go talk to Kyle and you just jumped through the glass and landed on his desk.
Starting point is 00:50:47 Whispered in his ear and then hopped back. And then just jumped right. I just pictured like a toddler-sized kangaroo with Forrest's head on it, like just hopping over on. What a treat. All right. One point for our hero. What a treat.
Starting point is 00:51:01 The maximum recorded size. We couldn't fit your head though. The body's too small. The maximum recorded size of a giant Pacific octopus is 16 feet from head to toe. Higher. I'm going to go 16 feet long. Head to tentacle tip. Not a lot of toes.
Starting point is 00:51:19 I will go 12 feet tip to tip. No, I'm going, I'm going like well over 20. So to be clear, you're supposed to say lower or higher? I said higher. Okay. Low here. Point for Peter. Wow.
Starting point is 00:51:31 30 feet. Wow, that is crazy. GPO's get 30 feet. That's crazy. A kangaroo could jump one leg. One kangaroo length or one octo length. I mean, now that's a good fucking TV show right there. Now, I wonder if that's like if it's stretched out. Yeah. Or if it's like if it's in the swimming. No. So that means they're going tentacle to tentacle reach. Right? It's got to be. Which is kind of some horse shit because it's really tentacle to head tip. I'm guessing this. I don't know this. I got my guess wrong. So don't listen to me.
Starting point is 00:52:00 Well, yeah. I mean, you're doing that thing because you got it wrong. You're trying to justify why you were right. Just give me a half a point so Peter loses. You will not get half a point for that. You don't decide that. I decide. Sorry. Sorry.
Starting point is 00:52:14 All right. Number three, the number of teeth in an adult Nile crocodile is 68. I know this because Forrest fucking said it in a recent podcast. So go first. No, no. I'll go first. Well. Well, you say go first.
Starting point is 00:52:30 I shouldn't have. Yeah, it's higher. It's definitely higher. I want the point. I'm not going to make it. Oh, it's lower. Are you fucking kidding me? I couldn't remember.
Starting point is 00:52:39 Generally, a little bit lower, 64. I am not. It's a bit of a trick question because some do have 68 teeth. I thought you were a crocodile, Dennis. At times, they will have many more because sometimes you see a croc grows like three teeth in one little tooth hole. Oh, okay. I agree.
Starting point is 00:52:54 Don't question the intent. No, no, no. No. By the way, I just want to make a statement here. People often be like, that guy's an idiot. He said crocodiles of 68 teeth. They have 64. I'm not an encyclopedia.
Starting point is 00:53:04 Yeah. I can't remember every single thing. I tried my heart. Shut up, but you put a quarter in you, you jukebox. Sorry, this is our- Play for me. This is our pilot episode, and so I forgot one thing about this game. Probably very important.
Starting point is 00:53:16 You have to guess higher, lower, or correct. Oh, that is important thing to mention. So moving forward, let's do that. So that one was correct. That was a correct one. That was a correct. You might need to change the numbers and skip correct. Yeah, I will read ahead now.
Starting point is 00:53:31 Yeah. Okay. Okay. Four. So, higher, lower, or correct? The maximum depth that a sperm whale has been recorded diving to is 7,380 feet deep beneath the surface of the ocean. Look at Peter's brain racket. It's just like, that's over a mile, obviously. Sperm whale! So imagine diving a mile deep. I felt like yelling it. I don't know. I've had too much coffee. You dive a mile below the ocean surface, and then. then go for another 2,000 plus feet.
Starting point is 00:54:05 Could that be true? I mean, I think it's impossible because, I mean, they are big bodied and tough, but I think the pressure's too much. I'm going to say lower. I'm going to say lower. I have the number 6,000 in my head. Oh, I don't need to guess a number.
Starting point is 00:54:20 No, you don't. It's 12, isn't it? No, the correct answer is correct. You son of a bitch. You said you were skipping forward. 7,380 feet. Yeah, I thought you said we were eliminating that option. We're done.
Starting point is 00:54:32 No. We're done here. Should we walk out? You and I? The listeners at home know that I said correct was an option. And Kyle has verified. Okay. Okay.
Starting point is 00:54:41 Trickster. Number five. Is that amazing now? 7,000. That's crazy. It's unfathomable. Yeah. How many fathoms under the sea is it?
Starting point is 00:54:48 Well, it's unfathomable amount. Yeah. Number five. The maximum recorded speed of a Peregrine Falcon dive is 270 miles per hour. Recorded speed. Petter? I think it's lower. It's more like 250.
Starting point is 00:55:06 Higher. Point for Peter. Is it lower? 240. I always say it's 300, which shows I'm wrong. Yeah, I go 300 miles an hour?
Starting point is 00:55:16 That's what a Peregrine does. It shows I'm an idiot. You haven't read a book in probably 15 years. What's a book? It's like the internet on paper. All right, here we go. The maximum recorded wingspan of a wandering albatross is 12 feet long. Can you pull up a wandering albatross for me?
Starting point is 00:55:32 Kyle? I don't know what that is. Is it lower? Is it higher? Or is that correct? Is it 12 feet? A huge sea gall. And you can't, if he shows you. Oh yeah. Okay. Okay. Okay. All right. You said, It's just a huge seagull. That's what it is. You said, 12 feet, higher, lower or correct? Petter. Bro, but just pull up the picture again real quick, Kyle. No, he's trying to cheat. No, I'm not. I look at the one sitting next to the lady. It's her size sitting there. Forrest perspective. I think it's lower. 12 feet is insane. I'm going correct. That is a point for Forrest. It is 12 feet. feet man on a bird that's like a dinosaur bird is that like a basketball hoop plus a toddler yeah just one basketball hoop all right length this is you got a lot riding on this one for us i do reputation wise losing to peter is the worst thing since getting my my nuts mangled by a brick yeah the maximum to the bro loser is a real loser move the maximum recorded weight of a green anaconda is 350 pounds higher lower or correct higher dude it's got
Starting point is 00:56:32 be higher than that. That is correct. You say 350? Yeah. Higher for Peter. Higher 400. 550. 550? Yeah. I mean, you lifted what? Was that at Anaconda? The one that we got was about 300 and I was like, ah, I don't get much bigger than this. How's wrong? I guess they get a little fatter. Yeah. All right. Those are those like power fed ones in captivity for sure, but still. Yeah. All right. Last one. This is worth two points. Okay. Is Peter way ahead of me? How many points is yet? The score is three Peter,
Starting point is 00:57:01 force too. I'm just really enjoying how after every single time Forrest gets one wrong. There's an explanation that he blurts out as to why he's right. It's really irrelevant. I'm trying to save face. All right. I know. The number of heartbeats per minute for the two
Starting point is 00:57:17 point question, the number of heart beats per minute of a hummingbird can reach during intense activity is 1,200 beats per minute. If you do the math, that's 20 beats a second. Correct. higher.
Starting point is 00:57:34 Two points to our winner, Peter Fitzer. The bro loser, baby. 1,200 beats a minute. That sounds awful. It's, it's, that's without cocaine. That's insane. Well, it's insane. I have noticed, Pat, that your foot has been moving 1,200 beats per minute, the entire
Starting point is 00:57:55 podcast. Oh, shit. I've been even changing up how I'm sitting and whatnot. Well, it's, you know, I noticed because my microphone goes like this a little bit. Oh, God. That's bad. That's really not good. Have you noticed Peter has maybe made three or four references on this show of negative comments about him? Speaking of which. About himself?
Starting point is 00:58:14 Yeah. Like that listeners have left on the YouTube and whatnot. Oh, yeah. He told me he spent hours last night reading through them and aggressively responding to people. Yeah. So go, if you left a comment a year ago making fun of me, I responded to it. I think I got back to like 18 months ago. Were you leaving angry responses? Are you being friendly? No, I was being friendly. That is a lie. You told me somebody said like 12 comments about how much they hate you and you were just firing back. I was firing back.
Starting point is 00:58:40 I mean, I wasn't being mean. I was just like, thank you. I appreciate that. And then he said, he did say one about you, Pat, after I read like four about me. And I was like, oh, I was like, I thought I was the punching bag. You should be careful because Pat is in contact with more than one serial killer. I did see a comment coming yesterday actually about. this and it said you guys shake your feet a lot like a lot yeah there's a lot of let's give credit
Starting point is 00:59:07 where credits do who said that uh that was from i just lost it you son of a bitch no no i have it here we're supposed to be interacting and engaging man invictigiziziziziz it's a curse i mean i genuinely dude i've gotten yelled at on airplanes i've yelled at you on airplane yeah i've gotten yelled at by teachers by kids that i can't stop my leg from moving yeah he's got r ls you know You don't see it, but I'm the same way back here. Are you? Yeah. I don't do it.
Starting point is 00:59:35 I did respond to one of those comments, too. There was quite a few about the way we sit, like the cross-legged thing. I was like, that's not. Listen, if you're commenting on our foot shaking or how to sit, come do it yourself. You know, we're going to sit the way we want to sit. No, no, no. I did. So if you want to dig through, I did make a pretty funny reply to one of those comments.
Starting point is 00:59:56 But there are some other ones I wanted to read that I saved. Okay, great. I'll start with myself. I feel like this is. This is from... We're digging ourselves into. No, it's not. Demon Laundry said...
Starting point is 01:00:07 That's a pretty good username, by the way. Peter looks like the guy that tells you which way town is while spitting out tobacco juice. That's a really good one. I couldn't agree more. You really do. I thought it was funny. There is this one which says... You do look like that guy.
Starting point is 01:00:22 Forest... Oh, wait. This one was fucking cracking up in bed last night. T.J. Gold 4601 said... Pat should grow his eyebrows out. You know, it's... Kind of creepy. I have them.
Starting point is 01:00:38 It's just that I have such a furrowed brow that they go underneath... They're underneath your forehead. My cromagnin fucking skull. We should get... What's that makeup called that the chicks use the black... Oh, mascara mascara and put it on it. You can get eyebrows tattooed on now, Pat. People have...
Starting point is 01:00:54 This is not the first time I've heard this, sir. All right. So we got Storm Voo. Stormview said, Kyle sleeping with Forrest's wife was funny. I think Kyle would be a gentle lover compared to Forrest. I don't remember this, and I'm not a fan of any of this.
Starting point is 01:01:11 Oh, this was a good one. I sent this to you. Remember the pod where you gifted us the binoculars? Oh, yeah. A Brosner suggested, Nolan 14 Patterson said, I was so upset that Forrest didn't put mascara on the binoculars.
Starting point is 01:01:27 Oh, that was such a good idea. That was such a good idea. Well, then I would have had eyebrows. Yeah. Dude, if I had just sharpied those circles with wet sharpie and you guys have been like, wow, these are great. I actually shocked that you didn't. It's such a good idea. I wish I thought of it.
Starting point is 01:01:40 You must have been sleepy that morning. Yeah. Yeah, that's like right up my alley. I like these. These are great comments. And finally, I really liked this one because of the guy's name, which is Donaconda 5369. God, I hope he has that tattooed across his chest. It's genius. It's such a good name.
Starting point is 01:01:55 He's clearly really into snakes. He said, Donaconda, 5369. 369 said, what's bigger? The zebra head or forests? Good night, everybody. Good night. Hey, we love you guys. We do.
Starting point is 01:02:09 Hey, if you haven't yet, check out Raised by Coyotes, our new clothing sponsor. We love their swag. It's really good stuff. We wear it on every pod. You can pick yours up. Now, Peter, where else can you get stuff? Oh, you got to go wild times. Dot club forward slash info for links to everything.
Starting point is 01:02:24 We love you. Leave us voicemails. Subscribe and leave us voicemails. We want to hear your sweet boy. Very nice. Make fun of my eyebrows with your own voice.
