Wild time.
Yoo!
People hate me.
Here we are.
We're in the studio.
I hate you.
This is a podcast.
Peter's Summary.
That's nice.
You've got like the red and the pink and green.
It's like pastels.
My wife hates this outfit.
It's not color coordinated.
What the fuck do you mean?
Red and green on dress for Christmas.
By the way, thanks for this candle.
Pink and green.
Give us a little view.
you got going on here.
Down here, right here?
Yeah, just straightened out your legs.
Let's see.
By the way, I'm Forrest on the, on the, what am I?
I'm a bro-a-brologist.
You're the host of this Wild Times podcast.
Peter looks nice.
Patrick, Patrick's dressed for fall.
He's dressed for a boat ride.
It's 49 degrees in this studio.
Yeah.
You're not shivering.
It's a hundred and five outside.
It is hot outside.
We've never had control over the temperature.
No, it's kind of crazy what's happening in the studio temp.
This is a great time of year.
end of July. Yeah, baby. You've got a couple shows coming out, some shark weeks coming out in a few days.
The most Jawsome time of the year. Hell yeah. Did they tell you to say. Shark. Yes. I just got paid $6.
Jawsome, Jossum, Jossum, Jossum, Jossum, Jalsam. Oh, shit. You're up to 24? That's right.
Shark Week's coming? How many shows you have two? Just one. Just one. Just one. Just one this year. Just one. Just one. Just one. Just one. Just one. Just one. Just one. I didn't have time for more. Are we going to get to see some exclusive clips?
Yeah, because Edwin cut a trailer that we shouldn't have had cut.
We're going to share something we shouldn't be sharing.
You may get fired by Discovery Channel.
I might, but we do this every week.
That's true.
We've really stopped.
And somehow I'm still here.
That's why you're down to one shark week this year.
They're like, I swear to God, that guy shares one more clip.
And we got some exciting news.
Yeah.
Lots of news.
To me a good pod, we are, two producer Edwin, he was very excited about us focusing on Shark Week.
Edwin loves sharks.
Yeah, he does.
And we're going to talk about a little.
Just like most seven-year-olds.
That's right.
Can you please pull up the poster he made of alien sharks?
I said in confidence not to pull up.
Oh, my God.
This is a good one.
Do you think he did this in Photoshop or with AI?
Probably a combo of the both.
Kyle, you're an expert at making images.
What do you think?
Combow both.
Combow.
Oh, wow.
I do like, so this is a good segue right now.
The show that's coming out this year.
This is the reveal with Edwin's poster is
it's called Alien Sharks. Alien Sharks.
Season 2.
Nope. We're on like the fifth one.
Season 5.
We've been doing a franchise called Alien Sharks for four or five years now.
And this one is called Alien Sharks Untamed America.
Now, are these sharks confirmed to be from different planets?
They are. That's right. Hence the name.
The Department of War just released a document.
Yeah, yeah.
Let's spend an entire podcast talking about that.
They did just do a third drop.
Don't tempt me.
Well, it was a month ago, but wait.
Okay, so I do have a new show coming out.
It's Alien Sharks America or Untamed America.
Supposed to be, by the way, a little dogleg, kind of funny.
Supposed to be Alien Sharks Wild America, which is a cool title.
Yeah.
Guess why it didn't go through?
There's a series called Wild America on Saturday morning TV shows hosted by Jeff Corwin.
And the guy who's, it's not Jeff Corrin, but you're very, very close.
The guy who's done it has sued everybody that's used the term Wild America.
He has like a trademark on Wild America.
which is outrageous.
That's outrageous.
It's outrageous.
That's like trademarking
like lots of fun.
Exactly.
What a perfect analogy.
Let me dobleg real quick.
You know,
I was in the t-shirt business.
Like funny.
So that people would trademark
every fucking clever t-shirt idea,
which would be just like words sometime,
like fun with an exclamation point.
I'm not joking.
And they try to trademark it.
And half the time they'd get it.
That's crazy.
Crazy shit.
So anyway,
whoever this guy is.
America. Yeah, they ran the title clearance and they're like super high risk. First
I've ever seen that. And then I was like, why? I love that title. I don't want to change it.
And they're like, look. And there's a list of like nine different times the guys sued people who've used the terms wild America. That's wild. So now we're untamed America. So let me guess what the plot of your show is. That's wild America.
Knowing absolutely not, you just got you just got a sued. Yeah. Knowing nothing about it, I don't think. I'm guessing that you go around America.
to different spots that our listeners could even go.
And check out the weirdest, craziest sharks that almost don't seem like they're even from this planet.
Is that what you do?
Tune in. Good night, everybody.
No need to see it.
It's a great show.
It's exactly what you just outlined.
There are many times in my career, even when we work together and stuff where I've been like, I can't believe we pulled that off.
This sits at the top of one of them.
Why is that?
Because all of the sharks, except for maybe one of them,
that we targeted are pretty hard to find.
Not like incredibly hard to find, you can find them.
But the timeline, because we had to go to all different regions across the country with
diminishing budgets year after year, the timelines in which we allowed ourselves to get these
things, one of them, I'll just tell you right now, the bonnethead shark, which shouldn't
be that hard to get.
We got it.
So basically, we went to South Padre Island, Texas.
We landed.
There was one of the worst storms in the last like 10 years hit South Dakota.
Padre four hours after we landed.
I think it made like national news.
It did.
I'll send Kyle a video.
The meteor came through, right?
No, no.
That's Boston also where we went, by the way.
And Kyle, did I send you the videos of us driving through the water and stuff?
No, no, this is Boston.
Quit ruining it, Kyle.
I'm not going to show this, don't worry.
Oh, okay.
He has full control.
I did not know that.
I thought anything you put on the screen came on the TV.
It's this.
Yeah, this is what I landed into Boston to go film a underwater shark week show.
Sorry, not Boston, South Padre Island.
Look at, look at this.
This is how it was when we landed.
So you're driving through a flooded, down a flooded road.
It's like four inches of water.
So we get there.
Which is not fine.
We gave ourselves 24 hours to get this shark because we had so many destinations and so, you know, like, so for those listening at home.
So many sharks so little time.
So many sharks so little time.
And candidly so little money, right?
Because it's very easy.
Yeah, it's because it all is going into your bank account.
That's right.
Big fat cat.
It's very easy to make a shark show when you go to the Bahamas.
and the sharks are 100 feet offshore,
and they feed them every day,
and then you can film the sharks for five hours a day
or 10 hours a day for five days, right?
That doesn't cost anything.
When you have to travel to every region in the United States
to find sharks, it adds up pretty quick,
and your time goes away pretty quick.
Sure.
Long story short, we land in South Padre Island to that.
We get there the whole day is like that.
Everything's underwater, and they're like,
oh, the storm breaks tonight at like 6 p.m. or 9 p.m. or something.
And my flight out is like 8 a.m. the next morning to go to,
to Boston to do the next thing where we have this tiny, tiny weather window before the meteor
and all of that. And I'm like, how late can we push the flight? They're like, we can push the flight
to 2 p.m. You'll get in, I think I talked about this on a bonus pod. You'll get in around 4 a.m.,
no, you'll get in at 1 a.m. the boat departs at 5 a.m. It's like done. So we push the flight from 8 a.m.
to 2 p.m. We caught the bonnet head shark at 9.30 a.m. So we filmed the whole bonnet head shark
sequence that you will see between 9.30 a.m. and 11.3012 and then raced from covered in mud and shit
to the airport to get on the plane to the next one. It sounds so stressed. Okay. So the context there is
you got everything you needed for what we're about to see in like two and a half hours.
Yes. All right. Yeah. Can we watch the clip? Sure. Yeah. You're going to see. Yeah.
I mean, yes. So Edwin put together a whole trailer. Actually, let me just set up one more last thing.
Edwin put together a whole trailer.
The show's awesome.
We pulled off some crazy stuff.
This is not a Discovery official trailer, but the show is coming out this week anyway.
There's some awesome stuff in it.
One of my favorite shows we have ever made hands down.
Oh, cool.
Nice.
Good.
So this is the Schroleter.
Not official.
We got audio.
Let's see what kind of music you put in here.
What are you doing?
Welding?
I hope this is AI music.
Very serious music.
Go full screen, Kyle.
Oh, yeah.
Whoa.
That's in the USA, you guys.
That's crazy.
What kind of sharks are those?
Black tips, silks, and dusties, all mixed together.
Look at that, white shark.
Oh, my.
Where was that?
Pismo Beach area.
Okay.
It's a big ass shark.
Big.
Glow in the dark shark.
Oh, yeah, that's so cool.
Looks so much better in HD.
Bonnet head that I was just talking about.
Sawfish.
Yeah.
I mean, literally the coolest sharks in the world all here in the United States.
Sawfish is a shark?
It's a flat shark.
Okay.
Yeah.
Basking, this was right where the...
Oh, he cut off me. Good job, Edwin.
I don't know what happened with audio there.
I know what he was doing.
What was he doing?
It's like fading it out so he could bring the fireworks.
Oh, okay, okay.
Fireworks noise.
It'll be really good when we have an official trailer cut, which we will probably today.
That was cool, though.
That was good to see.
It's an awesome show.
There's a great segment where I'm fishing on the beach with my kids.
There's all this adventure stuff.
Catching the bonnet heads crazy.
Your youngest son is bait like you typically do?
He's a part of it.
Okay.
He's good at thrashing in the water.
That's for sure.
No, it's a good show.
I'm really excited for people to see it.
And the whole point of it is, I don't know if anybody knows this.
I mean, I think we've talked about it offline.
I'm very patriotic towards the United States.
I love this country.
I came here as an immigrant.
It's a great country.
It's a great country.
You know, I mean, call an immigrant, call it whatever you like.
I came here with absolutely nothing.
My family got kicked out of Zimbabwe.
And I have built my dream.
career in a place that I love living, surrounded by tons of great friends, amazing wildlife and
animals. And the whole reason I wanted to do the show is this year is America's 250th birthday.
It's about patriotism for the incredible Lasmabranch, the shark species that we have right here in the
United States. And I hope people watch this and go, holy shit, I don't have to go to Africa to see
cool animals. I can literally go one and a half miles in front of Plymouth Rock in Boston. I can literally
go off the beach in Santa Barbara. I can go to South Padre Island where there's a
kitchy-ass giant concrete turtle behind me and fine bonnet head sharks that are vegetarian and
parthenogenic. Like, it's so cool. Can you play some patriotic music in the background while he's
speaking about this? I can rant for longer while you play. Is that the one? I think you need like a kid
rock American eagle like yeah. Yeah. And JFK or RFK with no shirt on. Catching his
braddle. By the way, did you see a ice bag? Doing an ice bag.
Beth and jeans?
Why is he in the jeans on?
What the fuck?
I don't think anybody knows, man.
No one knows.
Yeah. Okay.
All right.
So give me one cool thing about how did you find the bonnet head.
You fish for it?
No, we built this.
If Kyle pulls up the trailer again, we built this fish trap, this African-style
fish trap.
I think there's an aerial shot, Kyle, if you back up.
Yeah, this.
And then we baited it into the net by eating a big seafood boil.
Oh, really?
You literally just ate it and then threw their stuff into the ocean?
I think you can kind of see there's, you know, none of this.
explains it.
But yeah.
It's just fully like shrimp tails.
Kyle,
I'll go for the beginning.
I really are living a dream.
Literally did a gigantic seafood boil and sat there with a floating, I don't think we addressed
the floating picnic table.
Yeah, just in the background there.
We had this floating picnic table custom made and then we had this crazy seafood boil and
we're literally eating crawdads and shrimp and throwing the tails out and baiting in
because they're a shallow water flat there right there.
See the trap we built?
Yeah.
Built that whole trap, made a funnel trap and had the shark come in.
Wow.
That's awesome.
It was super fun.
See the floating picnic bench?
Yeah.
Wait, but you said they're vegetarians?
Well, they're omnivorous.
So they're the only shark in the world that is known to have a gut microbiome adapted for eating sea graphs.
So when they can't get shellfish and fish and crustaceans, they'll actually switch their diet to eat seagrass, which is what makes them so alien, not to mention they have a cephalafoyle and all these other things.
What's the cephalafoil?
The hammerhead.
Yeah.
Very cool.
Yeah, it was super fun.
And yeah, that was like our scene that we caught the shark in.
See, there's our seafood boil.
Did you get a close-up of Mitch, like, shoving seafood into his so many filthy lips?
So many.
I actually made them include extra.
Look at that shot.
I mean, that was incredible.
It would have been a perfect opportunity for the chum cannon while it was shoveling seafood into his mouth.
Legit chum cannon would have been perfect in that scenario.
Just shoved a bunch of crawfish boil and there.
Oh, yeah, dude.
There you go.
Just, dude, speaking of this, Kyle, hit the jingle.
What's in the news?
So I know this has been in the news for about a month now, and I think it's still ongoing.
Okay.
But you did some, you did, was any of that shot in Florida?
The sawfish was shot in Florida.
Yeah.
We have been, you know, Jupiter Ledge, we've done a bunch of bull shark stuff there.
Tiger sharks, hammerheads, a bunch of cool stuff.
So have you heard about the Florida Safe Seas Act?
A few people have messaged me actually asking me to like comment and weigh in on this.
Okay.
You know, like publicly.
So I guess that's what this is.
But the idea is that they're trying to, I believe it's a fisherman are trying to pass a bill that would ban the use of bait or chum specifically to attract sharks.
Now, to be clear, you already cannot do that in state waters, which I think is three miles offshore.
Uh-huh.
But you can do that in federal waters, which is more than three miles offshore.
Okay.
So all those shark guys.
Now, here's where this gets confusing.
if you're not from South Florida.
All the, so there's a lot of, a good guy's Nicky Sharks.
Look him up, Kyle.
Nicky Sharks on Instagram.
I love this guy.
He's a good friend of mine.
He's a total cowboy, but he's super, super fun, super cool dude.
So Nick runs a shark charter business called Gung Ho Divers.
Actually, just go to Gung Ho Divers, Kyle, sorry.
He runs the shark charter business.
Super good dude.
Great friend of mine.
Awesome diver, everything else.
He dives at a spot that's three and I'm making this up, three and a half miles offshore.
So he can bait.
the spot. But in Florida, three and a half miles offshore in some places is only 60 feet deep or
100 feet deep. Here, if you go three and a half miles off shore in California, you're in 2,000 feet of
water. Right. Right. But so the argument that's being made is that baiting sharks and doing all
this is making it so that sharks are accustomed to boats. They're habituated to boats and fishermen.
And basically, when a fisherman catches a fish, the shark comes in and steals the fish. It's
like ringing the dinner bell. Yeah. It can, and I stand by this, increase risk.
to people if you're feeding sharks.
But, but, and this is the big caveat,
if you're going to Florida to scuba dive
three and a half miles offshore in Jupiter,
you're probably going to see sharks.
You're not just going to bubble blow.
Do you know what I mean?
Like, that's the whole point that you go.
So there's an entire ecotourism business
built around feeding these sharks.
The entire world,
nowhere on Earth, in my opinion,
has shark diving as dialed
and as good as Florida because of the feeding the sharks.
And it's an amazing thing to see.
It lets people, you, Peter, are you scuba certified?
No, I'm just obese and, you know, I would eat on the boat and pop me in the water.
You could go and do.
By the shark.
Listen, listen.
I'm not even joking.
You, Peter, who's obese and not scuba certified, could go and grab a mask and snorkel.
Yeah.
Jump on Nick's boat.
Go three and a half miles offshore and have a life-changing.
experience with zero expertise with sharks.
Because what they do is they go
three and a half miles offshore, you hold onto a line,
you put a mask and snorkel on,
and you have all these sharks come around.
It's incredible.
Yeah, that's awesome.
It's not, like I always thought that was not accessible.
It is completely accessible to you
and the average person, regardless of your skills get,
regardless of whether you can swim or not.
You can't go do the scuba dive and push the tiger sharks
and stuff. That takes some skill.
But just to go in and have 100 sharks around you
on the Jupiter ledge,
You can do that tomorrow if you want.
That's awesome. And that is life-changing.
Yeah.
And if they take that away, if they take the baiting away, and I have mixed feelings on the baiting and everything else.
But if they take that away, you, Peter, the common man, will not have the ability to have that experience anywhere in the United States.
Right.
And what that means is if, okay, so you're an old boring, crumagity, obese person.
But if you took your son, if you took Ezra.
Right. The kids.
Fine. If you took your son to do this, say in two years.
or if I, and you have no experience or passion for this.
And your son probably wouldn't either because he'd have no genuine exposure to this.
But say you decided to go on a vacation to Palm Beach, Florida, jumped on Nick's boat, took
your son when he was 10 years old, and did this experience that I've just outlined,
your son may come back to the boat and go, dad, I want to be a shark biologist.
It's the most fantastic thing I've ever seen in my whole life.
Yeah, totally.
If we take away the shark baiting, which again, I'm not totally.
and I can talk about the flip side of the coin,
but if we take that away,
he will not have that opportunity.
Yeah, yeah, agreed.
He will not have that potentially life-changing moment
that I think hundreds and hundreds of people
have had in that part of the world
that have made them dedicate their lives to sharks.
There are so many shark people in South Florida,
the Chris Gillettes of the world,
and I could name a whole bunch more of them,
Chris is more alligators now,
but for a long time he did the shark thing
and so many others,
because they grew up doing this
experiencing this stuff. Right now, I believe it's mostly the fishermen's group are trying to
take that away. And in my opinion, for the greater good of species and conservation, that is a mistake
to take that way. That's one of the things is that like the way that the bill's written,
you wouldn't be able to use bait and chum, you know, three, four miles offshore. Right.
But fishermen who are fishing near beaches or on piers can use it. Would still be able to use bait and shum
to catch sharks.
So they're basically saying, like, it'll reduce, you know, it'll reduce, you know, sharks coming in and eating, you know, eating the fish and, you know, having close encounters with people.
They're like, so we're just going to do it way closer to shore.
Right.
It doesn't make sense.
So it's kind of like the spirit of it feels like bullshit, right?
So anytime you go like, okay, that contradiction makes it feel like a bunch of bad actors trying to do something selfish.
Right.
You just, my gut is always just to say no, because it doesn't make sense.
If the reason you say that you want to propose this thing has a blatantly contradictory cutout in it,
then it's kind of like fuck off, try again.
Well, okay.
And now here's the other thing, right, that's contradictory about it.
Right now, the sharks all hang out by the Jupiter ledge, which is three, four, five, six miles offshore.
And they get fed there by the tourists guys.
And don't get me wrong.
The fishing can be great out there.
but all the sharks are hanging out out there
because they know the food's out there.
Right.
You take that away
and you have all these guys fishing along the beaches
where sharks naturally like to hunt.
Guess where their sharks are going to go.
Right.
They're going to go straight from that ledge
where you don't have any swimmers
that aren't targeted shark divers
straight into the beaches to feed.
Will it reduce your overall abundance of sharks?
Probably minorly.
Not overall, but probably a little bit.
You know, maybe by 10%,
I'm making this up.
Sure.
Maybe by 10% you'll have less sharks.
maybe by 20, but if you still have an 80% recruitment of sharks going from the ledge into shore,
because now that's where the fishermen have all their baits, that's where people are fishing,
blah, blah, blah, yeah. You're going to have more shark negative shark encounters with swimmers and
things because it's not like feeding the sharks three miles offshore is making them go to the beach.
It's keeping them away from the swimmers, in my opinion. So it is a very controversial,
contradictory thing. I don't think it's going to pass. I don't know. I mean, I don't know
anything about Florida laws or legislation, to be honest.
But I don't think it's going to pass.
I think it's going to get up to a certain level.
And they're just going to be like, wait a minute, this doesn't make sense.
You want to remove the feeding, but keep the fishing.
You're going to just move the sharks from offshore to the beach.
The only people that are going offshore to dive are to sea sharks.
Like it just sort of is a bad gig.
Yeah.
I mean, it sounds, well, like Pat said, I mean, it's whenever something is confusing and contradictory
like that, it's almost always there's ulterior motives on one end or the other.
You know, or they'll battle it out and part it down and make it different before it passes or it won't pass.
I mean, you know.
We will see.
We shall see.
There's another piece of interesting news around Florida that I saw just yesterday, actually.
It's slightly older, but there's a new study that just published that the Burmese pythons in the Everglades.
You know, we've talked about them, the big invasive snakes, are changing the soil chemistry due to their diet.
Peter, so many of my best wildlife encounters have happened from a vehicle, whether you're creeping
through the desert with the windows down or pulling over on a back road because you saw something
moving the headlights.
The vehicle isn't just transportation.
It's off in base camp.
So when outdoorsy came on board made total sense to me.
They're the world's largest RV rental marketplace spanning over 4,800 cities across North
America with more than 10 million travel days already booked.
The thing I really love is how flexible my options are, right?
I recently booked a trip with Outdoorsy, and when I landed at the airport and the RV
host was just waiting for me ready to hand off the keys, it was awesome.
Yeah, and even if you're not flying and just want to hit the road right from home,
there's no need for airports, layovers, or check bags.
You can just book a local RV and drive where you want.
And because Outdoorsy has built-in insurance with Romley, it cuts out the middleman
and passes the savings to you.
On average, it's 15% cheaper than the competition.
Whether you're chasing wildlife through the desert, fishing a stretch of river you've
never seen, or just getting somewhere.
genuinely wild. An RV changes how deep you can go. Head to Outdoorsy.com and use code wild times
10 for 10% off your RV rental. Go find something good. Dude, Kyle, I know you don't have kids yet,

So I called the doctor the other day.
Nobody answers.
I got to go get like my labs done.
Nobody calls me back.
It's been a week.
And I'm like, this is ridiculous.
Whenever I go to the doctor anyways, they're like, yeah, it's good.
Even if something is in the red in the thing they give me.
Yep.
So I'm using superpower, man.
with superpower you can go they get your labs for you and they give you everything man they give
you recommendations about what might be going on with inflammation if you got a thyroid thing going
on just stuff that the doctor will not check for you unless you ask and it likely costs more
i am super focused on my health i've determined to live longer for my kids and so now i'm going
going the superpower route.
I think it's great. And, you know, like, even going to the doctor isn't as good as doing this
with superpower. So for example, like when you go to the doctor, they only check for like 10 to 15
different biomarkers. But with superpower, they check over 100 different biomarkers. So it's a much
deeper understanding of your physical health. That's right. You learn your true biological age,
visualize all your health data in one place and track your progress over time. And it's a great service.
superpower. I can't wait to use it. Take control of your health with superpower for a limited time.

Kyle, one thing I've realized as a parent that you'll realize is that teaching your kids about money starts way
earlier than you think.
Ezra's already asking if he can buy everything he sees.
So we're trying to teach him that saving for something is part of the fun, right?
That's important, very important.
That's why I like what Cash App is doing.
They now offer managed accounts for kids age 6 to 12 with no subscription fees or minimum
balance requirements.
You stay in control through your own cash app so you can automate allowance,
track spending, help them save towards goals, and even customize their debit card.
What do you think of that?
Custom debit card's huge for kids.
That makes it real fun.
I think he's going to like it.
What I think is really cool is that it's one account and they don't outgrow it.
It starts as a parent-managed account, becomes a teen account, and eventually full account as they get older.
So their savings their money habits, grow right along with them.
So if you're ready to start teaching money habits without adding more stress to your plate,
download cash app and set up a managed account for your kid today.
For a limited time, new cash app customers who are parents can use our exclusive referral
code family 10 to earn 10 bucks. Download cash app, enter the referral code in your profile,

podcast for full disclosures. Yeah, that sounds like a big deal. Yeah, right. So now...
That sounds important. So scientists found 25 different types of seeds in Python digestive tracks,
right? So the way that works is to explain it, pythons eat 90, there's something like an 80 or 90%
reduction in the mesopreditors, in the medium-sized animals in the Florida Everglades. So what
happens? A possum comes along, and it eats 100 different kinds of plant seeds, right? Or I guess 25 is
what the article's saying. Then the snake comes along and eats the fruit-eating mammal or bird.
Okay. Now it poops it out in a place that it never was, there was never pythons before.
Now all of a sudden you have 25 different types of seeds germinating and sprouting in an area that the
snakes are hanging out that historically would not have had recruitment for those seeds.
So it's changing the soil around so much and dispersing the seeds so much that you're getting
growth of things into entirely new habitats into new areas.
The soil chemistry is changing because new plants are sucking up new nutrients from areas
that haven't historically been.
It's really interesting.
The Python thing in the Everglades, I know it's, you know, people know it.
We've talked about different elements of it.
And, you know, we've talked a lot about the eradication efforts.
Yeah.
It's fucking crazy.
Oh, just the level of it.
It's wild.
Yeah, it's insane.
It's like the equivalent of like humans landing in New Zealand.
Totally.
Like it's just, wreaking havoc.
Yeah.
It's truly insane because it's such a crazy unique habitat.
If you've never been, you've got to go see the Everglades before it's completely fucked.
The Everglades are absolutely amazing.
What do you think?
Yeah.
Do you think that, I mean, will it be fucked or will it just change because of all these ecosystem changes?
Well, it's already changed.
If you go drive the roads and the Everglades, it's, you see more invasive species.
and you see native ones.
So if you drive basically any roads in the Everglades,
there are all these canals along them.
And if you look in the canals, you see Mayan cichlids,
you see Oscars, you see Placostomus.
I would say 80 to 90% of the animals you see,
especially the aquatic ones,
are ex-pets, blah, blah, blah, invasive species.
10 to 20% are the native species.
So it's completely different already.
So is that going to destroy it,
or is it just going to be different?
I guess it depends on your definition.
of destroy. It's already destroyed it in the sense of there was 90% more mammals there before
the pythons got in. There was a thousand percent I'm making that number up, more fish there
that were native. And now it's 90% of the biomass's invasives. So, you know, it's already
destroyed it. But to the open eye, it's just as beautiful and as amazing. It's not like it's
going to become a desert tomorrow. Do you know what I mean? That's not going to, it's not going to
change the entire environment. It's not going to change the entire environment. It will regulate it.
itself eventually because if these invasive species got too out of control, they're going to die,
right? And then, like, they can't get too out of control because they won't have enough food
or they won't have enough space. And then no, no, no, nothing we can do will ever change it
now back to how it was. Nothing. It's absolutely impossible. If humans stop fucking things up,
over time, the Burmese pythons will become the new titanoboes or they'll shrink or they'll change.
Over time, the Mayan cichlids, the Oscars, the tilapia will become the Florida panfish or whatever.
I'm making all this up.
And it will find a new state of equilibrium because that's what nature does.
Unless we come in and go, we need to put a shopping mall, we need to remove this, we need to add this, we need to push this closer, we need to make it smaller.
Then it will actually disappear, if that makes sense.
Yeah, of course it makes sense.
But it's already like beyond fucked.
Like we have fucked it already and will not unfuck it.
Like it's beyond that position.
We're good at fucking things.
We're bad at unfucking men.
That's right.
Yeah, it will not.
Jesus, I need a magic mind just to focus on what I'm trying to say.
You're all discombob.
Well, I'm just trying to explain like how crazy it is because the Everglades are absolutely.
Cheers.
Cheers.
I'm going to Magic Mind free, by the way.
I had a giant caffeine yelling a lot at the mic, not sure if you've noticed, but still need the mental clarity.
Kyle's like, I've noticed.
I'm keeping the headphones three inches off my ears.
You're screaming and spitting everywhere.
I am. I'm furious. I don't know why.
Nothing a magic mind cut fix. Anyway, all right.
Can't put the toothpaste back in the tube, fellas.
You know what I mean? Why can I just say?
Why should you let this cat out of the bag?
You're never getting it back in it. You're no big D.
You have to be from north, from upstate New York to simplify things like that.
That's right. Yeah. So I leave in two days going where.
We talked about it a while ago, but finally, the time is here going on my fall barred expedition.
I'm very excited.
Cool.
I'm told Forrest,
I invited you on the trip.
You did.
I really liked it.
Right before the show
because there was an open spot
on our Arctic vessel.
Nice.
I wasn't invited.
That's okay, though.
I knew that you weren't going to leave
your wife and kids for 14 days.
And I thought Forrest might.
But I think...
Would like to.
Yeah, he can't go schedule-wise.
Yeah.
But I am told that we're all but guaranteed
to see plenty of polar bears.
Amazing.
in the wild, which, you know, you did your polar bear expedition,
but I think you were a little disappointed about the atmosphere.
A little bit, yeah.
So, yeah, I'm going to see that.
Lots of walrus colonies.
Lots of ocean life, I'm sure.
That's going to be incredible.
How much booze?
What kind of cruise is this?
Staying on a fancy boat.
Yeah.
Yeah, lots of booze in.
I have to imagine there will be some booze.
God, it's going to look like that.
Yeah.
I mean, it's summer.
See the northern lights up there?
No, it's going to be summer.
summer. So I probably look like that. That's probably a summer look right there. I mean,
you're still in the Arctic Circle, right? Yeah. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's like I can't, we're going to the very
top. No, you must go. I mean, you are going, but it looks just unbelievable. Wow. Yeah. I'm going to go. I'm
going to do a little hike out to see the big seed bank. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, yeah. That's right.
city there. Wait, the seed bank is
where they're storing basically
all the seeds. All known seeds.
In the world. There it is. So you can basically just like
Kyle, you don't know about this? I didn't know
it looked like that. Oh, it's rad. It's so
Scandinavian. Look at it. It's like
IKEA made it.
And they keep them there because
of the cold. That's right. So seeds
can go dormant for hundreds
of thousands of years if they're kept cold
and dry. Wow. And then come back to life
with a little bit of warmth and water.
Is that amazing?
So even if asteroid hits the earth and blows that place up,
the seeds will still just go into the snow and still be there.
Potench, yeah.
Potentch.
Cool, man.
Yeah, it might melt all the snow, but.
That's true.
What, do you like that, Cal?
You like the little potential drop?
I don't know, man, if an asteroid hit, it was blot out the sun and make a shot of
some of the giant walrus colonies on the island.
Fulbart's massive, by the way.
It's like half the size of Greenland.
Yeah, I didn't realize how big it was.
I looked at the path.
I didn't know it was that big.
Yeah.
Wow.
Dude.
Look at those teeth.
Those tuffs are so cool.
Yeah, they're dope.
Look at that picture.
Wow.
I mean, what?
It's such a strange looking animal, but it's just like.
Dude, they're so cool.
It's just a meat sack with a real dopey face and big face.
It's like a sea hippo.
It's like a sea hippo.
Yeah, they're awesome.
Yeah.
I don't know.
They're so rad.
not like very aggressive.
No?
Really chill.
Yeah.
Like I walked up to, in Cold Bay, Alaska, I walked up to a walrus colony, like me to Kyle
and just sat there and watched them for a couple hours.
It was amazing.
I guess it reeks.
Oh, unreal.
Yeah.
It's so stinky.
It's so stinky.
It's just fish poop.
Yeah, it's unreal.
Thousands and thousands of pounds of fresh fish poop.
And there are people like SeaWorld has walruses and stuff, don't they?
No idea.
I'm not sure.
I don't know either, but yeah, real stinky, little stinky guys.
Yeah, a lot of sea life is pretty stinky.
Dude, I took my kids to this park and there's fucking geese everywhere and I was like,
this was such a mistake.
Like, not only were like my daughter's two and she's like walking up to the goose and the goose is like coming toward her.
And so I'm like, no, no, I'm like, don't do that.
And like swat the goose away.
But there's goosh it everywhere, dude.
It's just like, why?
Like this is, I never want to come to this park again, dude.
There's just goose shit.
My kids are trying to, like, touch it and stuff.
Yeah, you have goose shit all over the bottom of your shoe.
Currently.
Fuck off.
Your shoe's made a goose shit.
I took my kids to the river day before yesterday.
It was great.
I took the whole day off, went to the river, blah, blah, blah, to a new spot that I haven't been before.
It was amazing, actually.
Water was crystal clear.
There was tons of fish, trout, cat, fish, bluegill, everything.
Wow.
And there's this big rock jump that I've been off.
When I say big, I mean, it's the size of the ceiling.
So it's 12 feet, not super high.
That's pretty big.
Rhodes jumps at every, you know, he was jumping it since last summer when he was five and he still
jumps.
He loves it.
We're jumping it.
We're swimming.
We're snorkeling, finding fish, everything.
Yeah.
Just goes, where's Rhodes?
Oh, oh.
Fuck, I don't know.
Where's roads?
She's like, I don't know.
Oh, my God.
He's found a way, this, he is a clone of me in every sense of the word.
He's found a way to swim in through the back of the rock.
And there's a cave in there.
I've got a, I've got a video of it.
I can show you guys.
Completely cut off from the outside.
you go under a rock pop up and there's a little air bubble cave.
There's a crack in the rock so you get a little bit of light and then you can actually do a swim through and come out the other side.
Rhodes with his little fucking swimming pool goggles saw a hole in the rock and was like, send it and just fucking swam into this pitch black hole and popped up and found air and was hiding in there.
So while we panicked for, I don't know, not that long, maybe seven minutes, he was hiding in there thinking it was real funny.
and then popped out the other side.
So do you then start yelling at him or do you just start laughing?
So I told him how cool he was and that thought it was awesome.
And then both him and I got in trouble because it wasn't awesome that he has scared his mom so much.
And that he'd gone into a dark cave without adult supervision.
Yeah.
And that he was doing it while holding his breath and doesn't really know how far the end is or anything else.
In a typical month, how many times do you lose track of both your kids?
Have you met them, dude?
Let's go just minutes.
Why?
Do an average.
About one hour worth of time.
Well, let's average it this way.
I spend about one hour per month
with them without my wife.
That's right.
And that's the hour that they're gone for.
They're typically missing.
Let's do a game here, Kyle.
In the spirit.
Give us a jang.
Okay.
He doesn't know what's going on.
He doesn't know what day it is.
Double down on it.
He doesn't know what time it is.
Let's do a top three DFL.
In the spirit of For a Shark Week show.
Let's go.
And all the Shark Talk.
Let's do top three DFL sharks.
Straight up.
Oh, okay.
I'm curious how you're going to find a DFL shark, but you're going to have to.
I'm going to go first because I only know so many sharks.
Okay.
I'm going to go.
I really just want to hear what people's DFL is.
Yeah.
I mean, I know mine and I think it's the right answer.
I'm really thinking about it.
I'm going to go number three.
Coming in at number three is the, the, the,
Greenland shark.
Oh, I know my idea.
It's good pick.
It's very cool.
It lives for centuries, and they're very old.
Correct.
They're so cool.
It's just like a living fossil.
By the way, I found a guy that takes you diving with them under the ice.
Where?
Out of where.
Spellport.
Oh, really?
Yeah.
You can do that while you're there.
Maybe.
Yeah, that's cool, dude.
It looks like a dinosaur, bro.
It's just insane to think that something's been here since Christopher Columbus.
Yeah, like 500, 600 years ago.
It's crazy.
killing babies.
Yep.
Number two, I'm going the,
the hammerhead, man.
Which one?
General.
The biggest one.
Greater, greater.
Just say greater like you know.
That's what I meant.
Greater.
Yeah.
The greater hammerhead,
that's like the classic one, right?
Classic.
Look at this thing, dude.
Its head is a hammer for Christ's sake.
Yeah, no, it's freakish.
I mean, you've already started by taking two of the three that I was going to take.
Yeah.
Well, I mean, dude, and also like, just it's pretty aggressive, right?
and it's just like, and it's just like whipping its fucking hammer.
Have you swam around with these?
Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
I've done exactly that.
Yeah.
Oh, yeah.
I mean, yes and no.
I mean, Tiger Beach, we had some crazy interactions with them.
Yeah.
But yeah, I've done the whole push them around kind of thing.
Yeah.
And then do they attack with the hammer or no?
No.
No, that would be fucked up because their eyes are on it.
They just hit you on the side.
Yeah, like, well, not you, but like a like a like a fish or something.
Yeah.
Kyle, you got to create a video that's a hammerhead doing that to that song.
All right.
And then number one, dude, just a classic great white shark, man.
They're pretty cool.
It's the first shark I ever heard of.
It's the first shark I ever heard of.
Four years ago when we started the podcast.
Yeah, exactly.
It's just like seven calendar years.
Dude, it's such a fucking badass killer.
I mean, jaws.
They're just, it's just like the classic sleek.
It's a miniature megaladon.
And what's your DFL on?
This will be controversial.
And I don't like it because it's, it doesn't eat meat really like a real shark.
I'm going whale shark because it eats plankton.
It's a wild call.
I knew that's what you were going to do as soon as you said controversial.
What's crazy is I can't wait to see the drop off in subscribers.
I know.
They're fucking awesome.
When they hear that you don't like whale sharks.
It's that fucking last.
I didn't say I hate it or anything.
I love all sharks.
You have to pick a DFL.
I don't know any other sharks.
No, you hate them.
You've made it clear.
All right, I'll go fast.
Can I do sawfish?
Sure.
Ah, that's a good thing.
Yeah, I mean, they're super cool.
They're freakish looking.
Yeah, they're amazing.
They're huge.
Awesome.
Look at that fucking snow.
Out.
Yeah, so cool.
Yeah, it's like, uh, it looks like a platypus that's just where the beak kept
grown.
Yeah, they're unreal.
Unreal.
What are they,
the little,
are those teeth
coming off the sides
of the saw?
Yeah.
They actually,
night at the rocks barrier,
they slash to kill their prey.
Dude,
maybe we can do,
do a whole compilation.
I'm just sharks,
just hammering.
Yeah,
with that song,
with that song.
I'm going to,
I'm going to do oceanic white tip.
Very cool sharks.
For my second pelagic species,
they,
they're often blamed
for the USS Indianapolis
disaster.
Oh,
wow.
Super cool sharks,
So they're super aggressive.
Super cool.
They swim fast.
Love the oceanic white tips.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
They're crazy.
Like follow boats tracking them because they might want to eat them.
Yep.
Wow.
Yeah.
They're,
or the garbage that people are throwing off the boat.
And then third, I'm going to go Bull Shark.
Oh, that was 1, 2, 3, not 3, 2.1.
It was, there's no particular order.
Okay.
Bull sharks, I just, they're terrifying.
The fact that you can, you know, they go into rivers and S2,
and like they're fucking
I was shocked when
when we were hanging out with bull sharks
on the Jupiter ledge pulled a couple
onto the boat to tag them. Yeah they're gnarly. They're so
beefy and strong it's just
fucking intense man.
Yeah. I have a lot of respect
for anything that can swim in a river.
Yeah, fair. I mean the real
Jaws, Jaws was inspired by a
story about a bull shark. So that's pretty
cool. And then DFL's
obvious. It's the sneakiest shark. The lemon shark.
Oh, that's mine.
Yeah, I mean, that's what bit you.
Twice.
Yep.
They're overtly sneaky.
They really are.
Look at that face.
Go to that one in the top right corner.
Yeah, that's what they look like.
Peter, look, pay attention.
Wow, that looks like the fucking shark from finding Nemo.
With the T, totally.
Dude, like, there's been multiple times where, like, I've been chumming and, you know,
the, like, reef sharks come in first.
Yeah, they dart in.
They dart in.
And they're just kind of chilling doing their thing.
And then you see just a lemon or two just kind of just hanging and just smiling at you.
Yep.
Yeah.
And like I get why you've been bitten by them because they are incredibly unassuming and sneaky.
And they just stare at you and smile and they're waiting to bite you.
And then take your arm off.
Before you go, Forest.
So you were talking about anything that any sharks that can swim into a river.
Did you guys see?
And I don't know if this was AI or not.
I don't think it was.
but the gray whale that people saw on the river.
It died.
It was really sad.
So what was going on with that?
Can you pull up the video?
It went up a river in, I want to say, Oregon.
Kyle will find it.
Maybe it was Washington.
Yeah.
Southwest Washington.
Yeah.
And it was lost.
It was a juvenile.
And then they sort of loosely tried to help it.
It's kind of hard to explain.
Yeah.
And then, well, I guess I don't really know.
But yeah, there it is.
in the river. I actually wanted to run up there and see it just because I thought it was so unique.
Yeah. So is a river brackish there or is it in fresh water? No, it's fresh water. It just went all the way up. It was just super lost. This happens. Like it was young. It went into a bay, into a harbor, I think. And then it was like, oh, this way. And then it ended up in like full freshwater. And it couldn't come back. It just couldn't figure out its way out. Yeah. And so the freshwater. And then Melissa McCarthy went there.
The freshwater is what killed it?
I don't know what killed.
Probably died of starvation and stress.
I don't know.
Yeah, okay.
But can it live in fresh water?
Not for long.
Yeah, I mean.
Other than the lack of food.
I guess I don't know the answer to that.
I mean, I think, obviously whales are not adapted for rivers.
You remind me a lemon shark right now.
Just the way your face is looking.
You remind me of a small bird.
That's fine.
As we've come to agree upon.
What does AI say, Kyle?
Remind me of a black febes.
All right.
Anyways,
what's your top three DFL for sharks?
Sorry,
I totally forgot we were even doing that.
Yeah,
because you have the attention span of a squirrel.
Okay.
Coming in at number three,
I've always been fascinated by them.
This year,
getting to actually dive with them
was absolutely incredible
as the basking shark.
I just think they're,
they're just unbelievable.
They really,
and I'm not trying to plug my own show,
but they really do look alien.
Like with that nose,
the mouth,
mouth.
Yeah.
Look at that animal.
I mean, you can easily get swallowed.
Absolutely.
There are.
And you should.
There are.
So the whole Jonah and the whale story, there's Jew fish in Florida, assuming that Jonah was eaten
by a Jew fish.
There's another line of thinking that believes the Jonah and the whale story comes from somebody
falling in a basking shark accidentally putting them in their stomach.
But as someone who's had their arm shoulder deep in a Jewfish mouth.
Yeah.
Do you think it could swallow an adult man?
A big enough one.
Yeah.
I could like sleep and bag you.
Yeah.
Kyle, can you pull up the mouth open?
The mouth open basking right there to the left.
Are those ribs?
What is on the inside of the mouth?
Are those bones?
Those are gill rakers that they use to filter out the water so that they get the plankton.
Like the whale shark that you hate.
Oh, fuck this shark.
Oh, they're so cool.
That's pretty cool.
All right.
So number three for me is basking shark.
Number two is the winghead shark, which I've never seen before.
Kyle, I sent you a video on Instagram actually.
They just got probably the best video of one in history.
Okay, so you've never seen this in person. It's in your WhatsApp, Kyle.
Wow, go to your WhatsApp so I can see all the dick picks you've received.
From your brus.
It's right there, Kyle. You were just like a...
There you.
Tommy in the RV jerking it.
This is my number two. I've never seen one.
I mean, it's...
What?
This little guy. It's like a...
It moves like a mosquito flies.
Yes, it does. It's very erratic and strange.
He's chasing a bait fish here.
This guy just got this drone from.
footage, probably the best footage of one that's ever been captured.
A winghead shark.
Okay.
Maybe Kyle can pull up just some pictures other than this, but like just look at the way it swims and moves.
That's how my dog moves.
He does.
It can like touch its tail.
We just got a wow out of Kyle, too.
Yeah, it does.
Do a little little bit of Kyle.
We just got a wow out of Kyle.
He doesn't usually wow easily.
I mean, it literally like folded into an entire circle.
It's amazing.
Yeah.
Pretty small.
What is that?
Like four feet maybe?
Probably something like that.
They're not big.
They're just really.
It's like somebody took.
look at that.
I just realized I left off
my literal favorite shark.
Oh,
I was added to it.
But it's like somebody took a hammerhead
and just went like this with Plato.
Yeah.
It's like so cool.
So is it related to the hammerhead at all?
Or is this totally different?
Well,
it's kind of cephalophoil like a hammerhead.
It's a good question, Kyle.
Can you look up if they're directly related
to hammerheads or if they evolved independently?
Hammerheads and bonnet sharks.
Let's see what it says.
It's a species of hammerhead.
Okay.
Yeah.
I think just anything with that shape,
but I'm curious where the lineage is.
But regardless, yeah.
It's the sole member of the genus.
That makes sense.
So it's really independently evolved.
Really, really cool.
Would love to see one of those.
Yeah, that's cool.
Where's a good spot to see those?
Up in the northern territory of Australia,
between Darwin and Cairns and that strip
underneath Papua New Guinea,
that seems to be where they get them the most.
There's a lot of weird sharks up in that region,
the Taurus Strait, it's called.
My number one is a striped pajama shark.
I don't know.
If you type that in, maybe my name,
you might even get the video of me like cuddling with them.
They're unbelievable.
It's the only shark I've ever seen.
Put my name in and see if it comes up.
It's like a tetra.
Oh, they're beautiful.
They're cool.
I don't know.
See, yeah, see, it's cuddly cat shark.
Yeah, try that.
They literally snuggle.
It's the only affectionate shark I've ever seen in my life.
Look at this.
That is awesome.
And I swear to God, it was not like food motivated.
Like, I don't know how to explain this.
I dove with these sharks.
We took food.
Don't get me wrong, because we wanted to find them and stuff.
Then they were everywhere.
Then the food was gone.
And they were just doing this.
Like, it was literally just swimming into me to cuddle.
Look at this.
I'm not making the shit up.
Like, they wanted affection.
So I'm stimulating, I'm stimulating their ampuley of Lorenzini.
I'm putting them into a tonic-like state.
But it wasn't, it was like a fucking boomerang.
Dude, I'd throw the shark and he just circle back and be like, can you do that again?
Maybe it was just like that felt.
maybe it like made him feel high.
He was like I'm having a DMT experience out of body here.
Look at it.
Like they kept,
like I don't know if you could see,
but I'm not restraining him at all.
Like he's literally choosing to come.
You're tickling it like you tickle the cat's chin.
It was unbelievable, dude.
And I,
I've had a lot of very cool shark experiences.
Yeah.
And this is the only time in my entire life,
I felt like a shark genuinely wanted affection.
It's like a puppy, dude.
And it came back and back.
Like,
I did this for hours,
to be clear.
This was like one of my favorite clips of it,
but.
hours of doing that. Yeah, that's awesome, man. Yeah, so that's my favorite shark. We caught the
mating on camera. We got all kinds of stuff. I was going to pick lemon shark for DFL. You can still pick
it. No, I'll give, I'll give you that one because they've bitten me twice. The other side of that
is the just unpredictability of specifically small black tips. Like if you, Kyle, type in like
black tip shark bites spear fishermen. Like, you'll just be diving and you'll just be diving and you
you'll have a hundred black tip reef sharks around.
And you're like, totally fine.
I've been spearfishing all day.
Like they don't care.
And then all of a sudden one just goes like a bullet and it hits you out of nowhere for no reason.
This is a beach one.
But you'll see guys spearfishing and stuff.
They just like go nuts.
Like they have this like unpredictable.
They're like meth head sharks.
Yeah.
Like they're just like cool, cool, cool spas.
Yeah.
Do you think they spas because another shark like nips its tail or something?
It's here.
Like this might be a good example.
So this guy's, he's spearfishing.
You know, I bet you there's a bunch of sharks around.
This looks like the Bahamas.
He just shot a hogfish.
It's deadly Bahamas.
Black tip.
So darts in, nails his buddy.
Look at that.
Oh, he took a bite.
But do you see what I mean about being a spas?
Yeah.
This guy's got the fish.
He just bit that guy's head.
Bit the guy in the head.
But the other guy's got the fish.
That's what I mean about.
A three foot black tip that you wouldn't think anything of if you were just waiting in the water.
Run that back, Kyle.
It bit him right on the head.
He's bleeding.
He's bleeding on his head.
But what's so.
crazy is this guy goes down,
shoots the hogfish. So you're like, okay,
the shark wants to eat the hogfish, right? That's
rational. Goes right by this guy,
he's like, I'm going to bite the buddy.
Damn, nails that guy in the head. Okay, four feet,
maybe. The point
though, like, how spazzy is that?
Yes, and that's a dick move,
honestly. And it's like, it's like your barber.
Maybe it can't see very well.
And then he just, and then it just fucking swims
off. And that's it. Why do you think he went straight for the
head? No idea. That's what I mean about
black tips and why they hit my DFL.
Like, it's just a meth-out shark.
He's just got no rationale.
Oh, my goodness.
That was a woman.
Look at that frame, dude.
Yeah, a lot of.
Was that a girl?
Yeah, it was a girl that looked like terrible.
She got fucking tuned by that thing.
I mean, very few people can say they got bit in the head.
Oh, God, that looks painful.
That thing is coming in fast.
And then it just swims off.
Like, how spazzy is that, though?
Like, the mentality of that shark.
Like, I don't even know, like, I was talking about the pajamas sharks.
She never saw because it came up behind her.
Of course.
I was talking about.
the pajama sharks and them like being affectionate wanting to play.
This shark, I cannot rationalize what it was thinking.
It's a damaged pajama shark.
It's just like, eat, swim, run, bite.
That's a dude.
That's a dude.
That is a dude.
He just had a big wrap around his head.
Yeah.
So it's able to, oh, oh, you know what?
It bit the back of his neck.
Oh, man.
There's a still frame.
The shark, even though it's how, okay, how big is that shark?
Four, four and a half feet.
Okay, so it's a four and a half foot shark.
Yeah.
The guy's back is turned
And its jaw opens plenty
Wide to fully grasp on top
And bottom. Oh man.
Around the back of his neck and the base of his head.
That's a fruit brute.
That's a fruit brute.
That's a tough diet.
Dude, hogfish, delicious.
So good.
I never had one.
Google Kyle hogfish.
It's not in Key West.
I think it's one island north of Key West.
Hogfish saloon.
Hogfish bar and grill.
That's where Jake Jillanol hangs out in the new roadhouse.
Dude, now the...
Is it really?
That's what it looks like.
Dude, the hogfish is not a sponsor.
Great place, man.
I wish it was a sponsor.
When I did the Key West Marathon, I ate my meal the night before at the, at the hogfish.
At the hogfish.
If you're listening, please become a sponsor.
We'll do all pods from there.
Send us three free beer coosies.
That's it.
That's all we want.
That's it.
And a crab cake sandwich.
All right.
So let's say we just rolled into the hogfish, the four of us.
Okay.
We're there because.
we're we're animal con is in QS this year.
Then I'm definitely going.
So we're holding for it.
We're not checking into the to the hotel till tomorrow.
So we just decide it's a 3.30 p.m.
Just got into town.
Dropped our bags off at the front desk.
Rooms aren't ready.
Sure.
Of course not.
It's Florida.
I say hey, I'm going to take you guys to a spot.
We belly up to the bar at the hogfish.
3.30 p.m. It's 89 degrees out with 98% humidity.
You're wearing your fun vacation outfits that you're wearing.
I have on right now. I'm kind of doing it. Yeah.
Kyle's got very short shorts on.
Always. Excellent.
The only thing I've seen them in.
Chubbers.
What's your food in Bev order?
Oh, easy.
Just assume it's something that would be at a place that looks like that.
I can go right now.
I'll go right now.
Are you ready?
Black and Grupper sandwich, side of fries, peanut colada.
Wow.
Done.
Sounds good.
Coming out of the gates with the collata, the penis culotta.
No problems here.
I will proudly drink my white fluffy drink.
No issues.
I mean, I don't want, I don't really want a white fluffy drink with my meal.
It sounds heinous.
Nah, it's tremendous.
Well, I'm going to have to try the hogfish.
I'm going hogfish, obviously.
Just grilled or blackened or Cajun?
Oh, sandwich or no?
I mean, a sandwich.
You want the slough.
You got to do the sandwich.
It's important.
And then...
You need a sandwich in that situation.
I'm going tater tots for the side.
If they have them.
Hell, yeah.
They do.
You can dip it in ketchup and, by the way, yellow mustard?
Very good.
Oh, it sounds so good.
I'm hungry.
Remind me to have a mustard rant after this.
It's important.
Kyle's an idiot.
My cocktail is just going to classic Cadillac margarita.
Oh, wow.
Okay.
Salted rim.
I'm not frozen, regular.
I like it.
I'm going to go...
I feel like I would need to get a hog.
I feel like I would need to get a hog for.
but I'm going to go with a crab cake sandwich.
Nice.
Yeah, I want that.
It sounds good.
It's crispy.
We all want handheld.
That's smart.
Yeah, you got to go handheld.
I'm not fork and knifing at 3.30.
Nah, that's so real.
I mean, obviously, we'll get it.
I'll get a, and I'll put it on my tab.
I'll get a little thing of a fried conk.
Oh, yeah.
Good call.
Just as a starter for the group.
I'm glad you're taking care of the bill on that.
And then, oh, I appreciate that.
And then, see, normally, I'm telling myself I would get a dark and stormy.
Yeah.
Right now, I don't know why it sounds right.
I'm getting a like 32 ounce ice cold draft Budweiser.
Yeah, I was considering beer also.
I drink that right the second to are available.
Sounds good.
Frosty, like it's just because it's going to be so, it's so humid.
Yeah.
Yeah, I feel like the sweetness of the dark and stormy is not.
I'm going for that second.
You want that cold beer touch too.
Yeah, I want to touch it.
Feels nice.
Yes, I want to cool my fingers.
Kyle, what are you getting?
I'm going to go just go standard.
Fish taco, French fries, cold beer.
You kind of help himself.
It's pretty good.
It's a bit much.
What are you?
Bit much.
I think it's pretty good.
You're in Florida.
They don't even know what a taco is.
Have you ever heard the term kiss?
Keep it simple.
Stupid.
Hey, let's hear your second DFL for the sharks.
No, second.
It was favorite.
Oh, what is your favorite?
They can't believe none of us went cookie cutter shark.
Oh, they're great.
Oh, wait.
Those are those the ones that.
Yep.
Yep.
Let's see a cookie cutter video.
They bomb in from the depths.
Yeah, they're bizarre.
Just take a chunk out of your fucking calf.
See,
They look like they want to cuddle like those pajama sharks, but then latch onto your throat.
Then they open their mouth.
Dude, by the way, that must be, have you guys ever seen the movie tremors?
Yeah.
That must be where they got it from that mouth.
Those worm things.
It's brutal.
This is important I talk about this.
The mustard?
Yeah.
Do we really have to?
We must.
We must.
We mustard.
We mustard.
Nice.
We were on our road trip a few weeks ago, Kyle and I, with the RV.
Picked up some high-quality,
Walmart. Can you turn this into a mystery so we can guess as to what he did?
Great idea.
Picked up some high quality Walmart steaks.
Okay.
Grilled our steaks.
Wow, it's going to be very easy to guess now.
Did he put mustard on his steak?
No, let me explain.
Grilled up our steaks.
Condiments were limited.
And I put blank condiment, guess the mystery, on the steak.
And Kyle was like, oh my God, blank on a steak?
It was like, yeah.
Yeah.
It was like every steakhouse.
has this. He's like, I've never, nobody's
ever done that before. Yeah. It was mustard
to be clear. Yeah, of course. It's not much of a mystery.
Sorry. Was it? It's okay, though. Okay, but
hang on. Okay, so I'm assuming
it was like one of the shittiest cuts of steak, imagine.
Yeah, it was a terrible Walmart thin
gross steak. And it was
plain yellow mustard. I'm not saying it was the best
combo. It was French. Yeah, it was not
great, but we had no condiments.
That was Walmart brand and the fatter one. Listen,
listen, the bigger problem there
is that Kyle thinks that
mustard does not belong on steak. I agree.
I concur 100% I've never heard of it. I've never seen it at a steakhouse. And it's certainly
not it. Not only is it not at every steakhouse. It's a no known steakhouse.
Where the fuck are you going to your steakhouse is me? I don't even know how to respond to this.
It's ludicrous. It's one of two options at every steakhouse. It's not they don't bring
out. Bernays, Hollandez, mustard. Would you like one of those three, sir? You forgot.
He forgot the steak sauce that they normally bring out. However, this is insane.
I'm not trying to be funny here. I feel like I'm living an alternate reality.
right now.
He's got brain damage.
I'm going to leave the show.
Permanently.
Kyle,
how much blood did you lose when the lemon shark pit you?
I am going to leave the pod if we don't acknowledge the fact that mustard is a standard
steak.
No,
you've never gotten mustard without asking for it.
Google AIS mustard and steak are a classic pairing.
Thank you.
Thank you very much.
You just looked it up before.
I,
100%.
I am flabbergasted by this.
In the situation you were in where you had that shit.
The shittiest thin cut of well-done.
We did have seasoning.
We had seasoning.
Yeah, we-
No, but still.
Seasoning salt, which we used to cook.
There's not that much fat on those steaks.
None.
They're dry in your mouth.
And so I would have absolutely dipped it in anything of it.
Exactly.
Yeah.
Even plain yellow mustard.
You should have asked Tommy just take a nice diarrhea right on top of me.
I mean, gray pup on, I could see being.
Brown mustard.
You mean the thing that was created for steak?
Great Pupon?
Pardon me.
Do you have any grow up?
This is insane.
to me.
I said that, like, I can understand if you, like, cook it in mustard, like, the same way
you cook a burger in mustard.
Like, that could be maybe reasonable, but to, like, as a dipping sauce, I'd never
seen it.
I'm going to lose my fucking mind.
Okay.
I'm going to have to try it now.
So let me ask you this.
Yeah.
If we went to, like, a nice, like, you know, $78 per steak a la carte restaurant, would
you be like, hey, can you bring out a side of French's?
Of course not.
Okay.
Outrageous.
But I would gladly ask for some.
Great.
Pupon.
Sure.
Are you going to do the roll down the window symbol first?
Yes, of course.
And he'll be like, yeah.
You want a great coupon, don't you?
Okay, yeah, we must move forward.
But, yeah, that was insane.
Kyle and I yelled about this for a while.
This is a perfect time to ask the Brozner to weigh in in the comments because I've never
fucking heard of this.
I would rather you do that.
This is what he did right here.
That is what I did.
I had no choice.
Kyle, can you attach a poll to this or put a link to a poll?
I'd rather you do that than catch us.
Of course.
Please weigh in if you're listening to this.
And please tell these heathens, these heathens, these uncultured, uncouth lunatics that mustard is a phenomenal side with steak.
Not Heinz yellow mustard.
I'm not arguing for that.
But just steak and mustard, classic pairing.
Yes.
Agree.
Well, don't agree.
Just disagree.
Just weigh in.
I mean, mustard goes really well with red meat.
It does.
So there's no reason you can't put it on shitty steak.
I had to.
I had to. I think it's going to cause a lot of controversy in the comments.
There's going to be fights.
I hope it does.
And I hope people meet up like the Instagram fights we were talking about and punch over this.
That's a good idea.
I was close to fighting Kyle over it.
I stand by that.
What did Tommy say?
What did the bipartisan third party say?
I think he ran away.
He doesn't like conflict.
Remember we were recording the bonus pod while he was driving in the RV?
And Forrest was asking.
ask him questions, he literally just wouldn't turn around.
Ignored him like my four-year-old ignores me.
It's insane.
He's of equal mental age.
All right, guys, I think, uh,
hey, it's been a lovely July.
Yeah.
