Starting point is 00:00:12 Tala Rico, Measles, and Miss Rachel, everybody's lying. But not here today. Not on Wilcane Country. It's Wilcane Country. Normally streaming live every Monday through Thursday at 12 o'clock Eastern time. At the Wilcane Country YouTube channel, Facebook page, but always here at Spotify or on Apple. Dolly Parton. You want representation that Dolly Parton is truly universal, crosses generational, partisan, geographic lines?
Starting point is 00:00:40 take a look at this graph Dolly Parton has roughly a 70% approval rating left and right 76% among those self-described on the left
Starting point is 00:00:57 73% by those self-described on the right no one else at least on this graph is even in the ballpark obviously Donald Trump high approval rating among those on the right, very, very low among those on the left.
Starting point is 00:01:14 You can keep going. RFK Jr., Elon Musk, Tucker Carlson, Taylor Swift skews heavily to the left, obviously Barack Obama, Joe Biden, and AOC, and then Mark Zuckerberg, pretty low approval ratings on both sides of the aisle. Dolly Parton stands alone. Nice of you to join us. Joining us now is Casey Smith, Barstool. Well, you couldn't have just grabbed me.
Starting point is 00:01:40 from Ellie's office when you were starting the show, you were sitting in your office. You were busy gossiping. Yes, I was. Gift of the gab. But usually you stop and also gossip. You just walked by and you knew what you were doing. You knew what you were doing. You were setting me up for this exact moment.
Starting point is 00:01:53 I just come in here on Fridays and I start the show when I started the show. But you knew I was on the show. You told me to come to be on the show. They want to interrupt the ladies' coffee clatch. Smoothie and coffee. It was a nice conversation that was going on, but thank you. What were you all talking about? just dudes
Starting point is 00:02:11 yeah just boys yeah who you're not doing this this is it's I haven't had my coffee fully yet no we actually weren't
Starting point is 00:02:20 talking about he that's see Dan that's the issue that Will wants everyone to be aired out but he would never air himself out for any of these conversations that's how it's being the host
Starting point is 00:02:30 what do I hide then how did these conversations start yesterday Will if you air everything out well okay that's a good point okay the reason I don't want
Starting point is 00:02:40 to talk about that is nothing to do with me. Really? I don't want to re. I thought about it. I put it on our production note. Do I revisit what happened yesterday on the Will Kane show? Which happened in front of the world. In front of the world.
Starting point is 00:02:56 Everything is an offshoot off of that. Yes. So it's fruit of the poisonous tree. Yes. And I thought to myself, the reason I don't want to revisit what happened. Oh, interesting. What happened? I didn't see.
Starting point is 00:03:07 is, do you really not know? I told him, so he knows. He knows. I'm just trying to be. This is also self, by the way. Patrick knows because I conference called Patrick and David Marcus, and I gave David Marcus a gigantic F you because I feel like he planted it in my brain, an analogy that I fell in love with, and ended up using it on television in the most inappropriate circumstances. And everybody was saying, Will, you're such a legend. You're such a legend.
Starting point is 00:03:36 I'm not a legend. I'm an idiot. I didn't even think about the inappropriate circumstances under which I marshaled an analogy. And that's this kind of where I want to leave it because I feel like it puts other people in awkward positions, not me. I'm generally willing to air out my stuff. I can attest to the fact that you did not know what you did. Because when we went into commercial break, we were having a different conversation completely. So you really did have no idea. However, if you are going to, to air me out, I will air out the entire conversation. It's threats. You know, I am sitting here because of a threat. I am sitting here because I was blackmailed as I was getting onto the elevator yesterday. No, no. I didn't do the blackmailing as much as Ellie. I saw.
Starting point is 00:04:23 You said, are you on the digital show tomorrow? And I said, no, I'm not. And you said you have until tomorrow on the digital show to do what we're talking about. Or I will air it out. What are we talking about? Talking about DMing people. That's not the point. Oh, Dan, yes.
Starting point is 00:04:38 That's why I texted you and Patrick. And I said, I don't know if that was serious or not, but it was kind of a blackmail. Do you want to talk about it? No. In no capacity? We can talk about the general idea. Okay. Here's the general idea.
Starting point is 00:04:48 I will say that the reason that this started, and we have had this exact conversation on this podcast, I've had it with Dan. I'm sure everybody's had it. The difference between conventionally attractive people versus people who are hot for other reasons, that's how this conversation started. So just keep that in mind. Fine. I get it. I get it. fine okay you're gonna trust me to do this no i don't know if i do but i'm sitting right here
Starting point is 00:05:12 looking at you just knowing that i can casey has someone that she pays attention to and that someone wild way saying that followed not in a creepy way not in a creepy way doing my best and that someone has followed her on instagram and ellie and i were like that's a green light a little bit. Not completely, but potentially, potentially that's a green light. And then she adds the detail, he, can I go far as to say it to he? Yes, that's fair. He has liked some of her stories, you know, hits the heart button on her stories and that kind of thing. And then Ellie and I are like, whoa, that's another level, you know? Again, I don't think it means hit 70 miles an hour on the highway. It's not green lights
Starting point is 00:06:03 as far as you can see, but it is not red lights. It's like, yeah, what's up kind of thing. And so it's not as far as a yo what's up. It's not as far as a yo what's up. I mean, I don't. That's worthy of its own analysis. I mean, maybe that's even
Starting point is 00:06:21 a generational thing. I'm laughing at Ellie, by the way. Yeah, I mean, honestly, Ellie could become part of this conversation. Have I ever liked a story of someone of the opposite gender for a reason other than what's up? Yes, of course. Really? Like, I don't do much liking.
Starting point is 00:06:37 I don't do. Well, if it was super funny or a super good point, then yeah. Like, everyone. It also depends on what you're liking. Right. If it's a really good piece of content or insight, yeah. But I'm also taking that into consideration when we're talking about this specific instance. But while you were starting the show purposely to leave me.
Starting point is 00:06:55 Did you look at it and go, yeah, I can see why I'd like that. No, it's a content. I think it was normally. No, I don't mean that. It's the opposite. It's more of like, these are like, if this was. it's more like the thirst-trappy stuff. I'll just say it.
Starting point is 00:07:09 It was like those are usually the likes that I get from that specific situation. See, that's what I'm saying. This debate is over. No, it's not. No, it's not. No, it's not. Because, and Ellie, even though you, I know you're on Will's side to a certain degree with this, he is still the guy in the situation, just say something.
Starting point is 00:07:25 Why do I have to say something? It's not like I'm actively, I'm not actively seeking this out. I have other situations. I don't know this guy. Obviously, I've never met this guy. But you know who he is. I am surprised sometimes at the guys that I see. You know how on Instagram it shows you liked by so-and-so, and you may follow that person?
Starting point is 00:07:43 You see what I'm saying? Instagram's a narc. It is. Guys from a lot of walks of my life, meaning when I say walks of my life, not personal, professional walks of my life. Like sports, news, you know what I'm saying? Throwing the likes around pretty gratuitously. And I'm like, dude, what are you doing? Do you think they not know?
Starting point is 00:08:07 And by way, when they do that, when they do that... Yes, Stan, I think they don't know. Here's the part of the narking that's even more fascinating. When they do that, it has the potential to push it into my algorithm. You know what I mean? If somebody you follow like something, they're like... It's the best. And what they're really showing me is, look at this dude, throwing some likes on this.
Starting point is 00:08:26 Your body's getting a little loose. Why is this in my algorithm? You're like, oh, look who liked it? You know what I mean? They're not thinking when they double-tap. I knew that city-sweeney-Had, it was not my fault. They're like. It was not me.
Starting point is 00:08:40 Yeah. But it also depends. Did those dudes know? No, that's what I was saying. They don't know. No. I don't think they know. Or if it's okay.
Starting point is 00:08:47 Are they above 40? Are they above 40? Can I say something? I almost said something to a dude one time and we're friends. We're not those kind of friends. But I wanted to be like, hey, man. See you out there. Like, throwing the likes around.
Starting point is 00:08:57 And comments. Was it on, was it on a photo of somebody that has like a lot? lot of interaction? What do you mean? Like, did he like a photo of, I'm assuming, a woman, a girl that has like hundreds of thousands of people commenting and stuff? Maybe. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:09:12 But the reason I'm asking that is because I think that guys look and see, like, for example, Sidney or like, let's go lower. It's got 11,000 likes. What's mine? Like, no one's going to see it. It's mine to everybody that shares all. They forget it. So it's like, if it's like a random, if it's the coffee girl at Starbucks, like they
Starting point is 00:09:27 might not like it because it'll be like Will Kane and two other people liked it, where it's like, oh, well, 10, 10,000 people. like this, well, who am I? But they forget that that is the one person you like that. Does that make sense? Yeah. Like it's like a, so my point in bringing all this up, which I'm not even sure is a good discussion.
Starting point is 00:09:45 I never know though anymore. I'm totally lost. Is you didn't need to find out if you are considering initiating contact, here's what I would do. Oh boy. Yeah, no, it sounds like I've actually thought about this, but no, I'm just thinking about it in real time.
Starting point is 00:10:00 I think we proved yesterday I don't think about it ahead of time. Is he a Is he a gratuitous liker? Is he doing it a lot? So like, and I don't know how you figure that out. Can you go to someone's profile and see everything they've liked? No, you used to be able to.
Starting point is 00:10:20 What you need to find out is if you're special or you're not special. Well, like is he out there like all the third traps? But the activity tab was the biggest narc of all time. Like that. You like this picture of too much. minutes ago. You followed so and so. No, here's the thing, though.
Starting point is 00:10:36 The one thing I will say is normally I will go look at how many people, and I'm not just talking about with guys or whatever. It's like, I'll look and see how many people does this person follow? If you go and you see they're following like 10,000 people, then no, you're not. If they're following a lower amount and you're on that list, then they actively cared to follow you. you. I have paid attention to that in this specific situation.
Starting point is 00:10:56 So if he only follows 150 people and that stands to reason he's not throwing a ton of random likes. Also, I'm a gratuitous liker when I want to be. Like, I have to, I'm not, like, I'm not hypocritical here. Like, I'm not. Do you throw likes with meaning behind it? Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Of course I have a low amount of follower, following people. Are you guys talking about me? Because I'm married. Yes. Yes. Yes. I'm going to clarify. Yes, Patrick. I've been sitting here for the last however many hours since the end of the TV show yesterday, wondering if I should slide in your DMs. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. to clarify. So like that's the
Starting point is 00:11:34 following, like that's the following ratio. Yeah, you're really toying with this. Yeah, because I have, I have the silver bullet pulled up the profile. From one little hand turn. 868. He's following 868 people. That is
Starting point is 00:11:50 specific. Yeah. You just said 850 or not. I don't know if that's low or high. That's low. That's low. It is low. Oh, yeah. That's low. It is. Mm-hmm. also can I can I just point this out this is one of those things where I hate that this is the world that we live in because back in like my dad cannot believe that Instagram is actually a thing my dad is like why don't you guys just talk to each other in real life I also understand talking about it no I'm talking about in general like I'm saying the fact that we even have to talk about Instagram likes and follows and hearts like I hate that but that is the way the world is not yes I do it's not the way it should be now it works but it's not the way that it should be.
Starting point is 00:12:33 Myspace was better. You could just put like who you, who your favorite people were. And then you'd like switch them around and people would like get real butt hurt over it. Like why am I for? Did you know they're thinking about bringing that back? MySpace just for that. I saw that on Instagram and it's like, I'm going to start ranking my friends again.
Starting point is 00:12:53 Did you ever do MySpace? No, no. Never had a MySpace profile. Oh God, I loved it. You know, having kids in high school. and now having a kid in college and realizing how much of social interactions are exclusionary by their very nature, and that's what gives them cachet. Do you see what I'm saying? Like, what gives it its value in many situations is that, I mean, obviously, is that not everybody's invited in. And it's a bad human instinct. Do you see what I'm saying? Like,
Starting point is 00:13:24 it's, but it's hard because that's also part of, that's what neighborhood you move to. It's what school you choose to go to everything you're making choices that is in part at least exclusionary, right? It's not all just positive choices. There's some negative choices in there as well. You see what I'm saying? I don't want to be with that person or those people. And it makes sense that social media would move back in that direction because it's a bad, when used at its worst, obviously, it's a really bad human trait. You know what I mean? You're not one of us. You're not in my circle. You're not. You're not. not, but it is so innate in social media is playing to the lowest common denominator into our lowest instincts that you would have to think that actually would have appeal. So MySpace or whatever the modern iteration of it would be where these are my 10 best friends and kids going, I'm not in the 10, you know, whatever. And then causing drama, that's like you can see how they'd sit there and go, that's good
Starting point is 00:14:21 business. Not good for people. No, but good business because it addicks you. This is what we talked about with even like the meta settlement. Like, I understand where people can say, okay, parents should be more involved in whatever. That's fine. But these social media companies are actively getting people to interact with humans that way. Or it's like even if, like, somebody doesn't like your photo.
Starting point is 00:14:41 Now, at 37 years old, I don't care about that. But I can understand why a 15-year-old would care about that. Oh, my best friend didn't like my photo. But the fact that it even shows you, if somebody doesn't like my photo? You just told us, Mendigo. I don't care. I just notice it. Will, if you think that...
Starting point is 00:14:56 I just notice it. Are you telling me, hold on a minute, hold on. Do you count your likes? No, I don't. Oh, get out of here. I don't. Have I in the past? Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:15:05 I will tell you. Ellie, you count your likes? Oh, yeah, right. Listen, I have no issue saying that it used to really, really weigh on me heavily. I do believe that having a toddler now, but having a kid change that for me. Or it's like, there are much bigger things I need to be focusing on. And if somebody that I like having the attention from is giving me attention, of course I'm going to notice it. I'm a human.
Starting point is 00:15:28 So what are you going to do? Not what you want advice. Ellie's bullying me, by the way. She's texting me and bullying me right now. She's the wrong villain here. It's not me. It's not me. She's bullying me.
Starting point is 00:15:38 And she usually gains up on you with me. And now I'm getting ganged up on. All right, let's take a quick break. But continue this conversation with Barstools, Casey Smith, when we come back on Will King Country. Welcome back to Will Kane Country. We're still hanging out with the host of the college football show. Big Noon kickoff, Barstools, Casey Smith. I don't know about this.
Starting point is 00:15:56 There's no ganging up on me. me, Ellie. Like, you're with me at all. That's right. At all times, I don't think so. There's been multiple times this week when I have been here that you're like, I, like, you're looking at both of us. Like, I don't, I wish both of you would stop talking. You can disagree with me. But ultimately, when the swords come out, her sword better be on my side. A hundred percent. But like, for example, where this conversation started yesterday, I was me, Ellie, and Ed standing around her computer ganged up on you. I understand how these things go. I'm fine. I'm fine. All right, Patrick. You've got four.
Starting point is 00:16:27 us today several conundrums from Reddit. And I'm not sure which one I like the best. But I'm going to have you read it, Patrick, because it's honestly, it's really small print on my phone. It's really hard. You're not good at reading? Which one are we going with? I think let's go with, because the heavy one.
Starting point is 00:16:47 This one, this one is the, it's confusing to me in the title, but it's interesting. Girlfriend's male friend invited her to his house midnight today and she thinks it's a joke and not taking me seriously. I'm confused, so flesh it out for me, Patrick. Okay, okay. So, okay. So my girlfriend and I are both in our 20s. This is not me.
Starting point is 00:17:09 This is the person on Reddit, just to clarify. We've been together for several months and don't live together yet. Yes. I've always thought her male friend was a little too comfortable with her, but I've never really said anything because I don't want to come across as controlling her jealous. She showed me the text of him, asking her if she wanted to come over around midnight because he apparently wanted to show her some art and how he brought bought some expensive wine from a trip in France. I asked her straight up if she was actually planning on going there over at midnight and she wouldn't give me a straight answer. She kept just kept smiling and saying she hadn't decided yet, but probably not. I asked her why she thought this was a joke, but she laughed and said I was being too serious and how I.
Starting point is 00:17:57 I get too stressed from work and need to lighten up. I'm actually really worried she might accept this invitation, especially since she leaves my place around 10 most times and lives quite a bit away from me. What do I do? Oof. So, break up. Yeah, that's done.
Starting point is 00:18:14 The guy should break up with the girl? Yeah. Yeah. Done. Oh, yeah. Over. It's over. Why?
Starting point is 00:18:20 Yeah, let's listen to all the men. Yeah. This is why you can't have. This has happened to me before. Yeah, maybe I... Done. You don't have a male friend. That's not true.
Starting point is 00:18:34 You can. No, I will say if she actually goes at midnight and it makes them uncomfortable, yes, break up. I'm telling you the threshold and the bar is lower. She cannot have a male friend like that. Like what? Like that? That's inviting her over at night? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:49 Like that, yes. So she can have mail. They hang out. I don't care if it's 8 p.m. She just can't have a friend that's a male? Yeah, because he's lying. No, see, I hate this. I hate this.
Starting point is 00:18:59 Every time. Every time. This is why you... Every time. No, it's not. Every time. So every female friend in your life, that's the way it is? I don't think I have female friends.
Starting point is 00:19:10 I'm not talking about currently. Like, just in general, you've never had a female friend that you would hope some guy trusted you around? I've never had a female friend that I hope some guy. Like, if you're saying it's all guys, if you're saying it's all guys. But the comfortability with that is wrong. That's different, but I'm saying that what guys usually say is girls cannot have guy friends that's purely platonic. So my always the rebuttal to it is, and then that mean every single girl you've ever encountered in your life that you did not have a romantic relationship with you wished you did. Because guys and girls can be friends without that.
Starting point is 00:19:45 What is friendship? Close friendship. What is friendship? Yeah. It depends. Like what not, not, I have never. Yeah. never had a girl who is a friend that is like my guy friends.
Starting point is 00:20:00 Yes. In that, I would do something with them alone. Really? Even when you were... First of all, y'all aren't as good a hang. That's fair. That's so mean. I'm not going to, I really wanted to sit here and try to argue that for a second.
Starting point is 00:20:17 I'm like, that's fair. But I have, like, my guy friends in college. So there are other reasons. But my guy friends in college. You have a very, very good girlfriend. Okay, I'm going to tell you something. You are bad. I'm batting.
Starting point is 00:20:30 Do you guys think I'm batting over 80% with this over 800? If you have a very, very good girlfriend, the guy, you are either on your way to the romantic thing, trying to get to the romantic thing, or you're gay. No, that is not true. Yeah, I'm batting 80%. I just, okay. You can argue for the 20. I'm going to argue. 10, 15?
Starting point is 00:20:54 I have, okay, so I have a group of guy friends that I went to college with and then we all lived together after college. I'll straight up say, I'm in my 30s, I don't care. None of us were ever romantic with each other. They're still in my life. I'm some of their kids' godmothers. I believe I can hang out with them and could have in my 20s without it being like, are we going to hook up or not?
Starting point is 00:21:13 Because I've had them in my life now for 20 years. But it's usually on the guy's side. Go ahead, guys. Yeah, no, you see? And it's like, but that's where I come from this. It's like, I don't. It's happened to me. I had a girlfriend where one of her guy friends
Starting point is 00:21:26 It was like a very close like bestie type situation. I thought he was gay at first, but she said no. And I was like, we would hang out and I was like, he's clearly in love with you. Like he wants to be around and hang out all the time. She goes, no, no. And then we broke up and everyone was like, yeah, that dude was totally in love with her for like years. And it's just, you know. Did she?
Starting point is 00:21:45 And she kept him around and knew it. No. She kept him around. She just liked that, like, feeling. Yeah, that's exactly, Dan. At a minimum, that's exactly like she liked that feeling. She had someone that, and I'm not saying that's what happens all the time, but it can happen like that. And guys and girls can be friends, but there are a lot of situations where it just is more than what you think it is.
Starting point is 00:22:09 So one of the most escalated situations of this kind of thing is when actors are on a movie set and you have a guy and a girl hanging out a lot. And they're in the same. a lot, right, and they have to be romantic or pretend to be romantic. And then you see a lot of actors falling for each other, I mean, over and over again. I think when you put yourself in those situations, you tend to develop feelings. And then I think it's vice versa. I think it's with women and men. I don't think it's one sex or the other.
Starting point is 00:22:40 Unless you establish it and you're like, hey, this is never going to be. Those Hollywood, those things you're talking about, never work out. Never. Never. Have you guys seen Brad Pitt on his. whole I regret everything to her. Yeah. Have you guys seen that?
Starting point is 00:22:55 Like, he was happy with Jennifer Anderson. And then what did he do? Mr. Mrs. Smith with Angeline Jolie and, you know, and I mean, hell, it's Angeline Jolie, right? Jason Sondackas did it to Olivia Wilde on Ted Lasso. But also. Really? With who?
Starting point is 00:23:10 With the, uh, what's her name? The hot girlfriend of the team owner. Um. Oh, really? I didn't know that part. Uh, I forget her name. I would only know her character's name. She's like a model.
Starting point is 00:23:23 Yeah. The one that dates Roy? No, I don't know. The one that dates the old owner. Damn. Oh, I don't know that. I would make the argument that Patrick with that. It was overrated.
Starting point is 00:23:36 Very overrated. Patrick, that, that example, that analogy, I'm with you. But also the key, and you said it in there, they have to pretend to be romantic. Because a lot of these times these people are really attractive. And you're putting them in situations where they're having to act like they're in love with each other. that makes more sense to me. You're talking about just a guy friend that watches football with you.
Starting point is 00:23:55 They're not trying to, they're not secretly sitting there the entire time being like, damn, I wish I could hook up with you. But all the fumble the bags, I'm sorry, I'm still thinking about Brad Pitt. Of all the fumble the bags in history,
Starting point is 00:24:06 he fumbled it the hardest because then he has all these adopted kids that she transed who hate him and won't, and won't take his last name. I mean, this dude got it all. He got all the bad things. All of it.
Starting point is 00:24:20 He paid so bad. But he still bread. It's still his fault, but yeah. It's still his fault. I mean, like, oh, you don't want my name anymore? Okay. Good. Also, I can go back to drinking now.
Starting point is 00:24:29 Angel and Jolie was probably, uh, and Jolie was probably, like, very crazy in a good way at the beginning. So he probably doesn't regret that far. I mean, she held a vial of Billy Bob's three. He doesn't regret. Yeah, I don't.
Starting point is 00:24:45 Here's the thing. This specific Reddit thread, it's the, him inviting her over at midnight to look at his art. Like that, you can buy a girl over at midnight to look at your art. That's the basis of this. That is where I agree. Let's, yeah, that's why I laugh because, like, what is your art? I mean, yes, I agree with you guys.
Starting point is 00:25:01 That's, I mean, way, way over the line. Yes. But him being comfortable enough. But it's not her fault. The line was way further back. So why break up with her, though? It's not her fault because she's entertaining it. She's not going.
Starting point is 00:25:14 That didn't say that. No, but that's, that's, he's right. Will's right. The fact that she didn't be like, no, that's ridiculous. I would never go do that. The fact that she didn't do that is telltale. If it's, it also depends on how long they've been together, whatever. But if it's one of my guy friends, first of all, they would never say, come over and look at my art at 12.
Starting point is 00:25:33 Like, that's crazy. You should not be friends with them if they're doing. But if I really believed that this guy was like legitimately just like, come hang out with me because we're friends. We've been friends for all these years. I could see where she'd be like, what's your problem? Why are you acting like this is such a big deal? unless every girl that he's friends with, he has that thought process. Because I've turned that around on guys in my dating history, like when I was younger.
Starting point is 00:25:56 Like they'd be like, that guy wants to hook up with you. I'm like, okay, well, then that girl is always at the bar with your group of friends, do you want to hook up with her? Should she not be around you? And they never have an answer for that. They're like, well, no, no, no, she's different. Okay, then how am I not different with this guy? Well, I'm also talking about one-on-one friendship, too.
Starting point is 00:26:10 Not like. Agreed. You have a bunch of guy friends. You have a bunch of guy friends. This is, are y'all taking this personally? No. Oh, you should. He's sitting there steaming
Starting point is 00:26:20 But Ellie like you understand what I'm saying It's like if a guy turns out on a girl And it's like well every single guy friend of yours Has ulterior motives And it's like well then do you have those With all the girls in your life? Men of them never have a manor
Starting point is 00:26:34 All of this is a little suspect But the one on the one on one friendship Is super duper red flag Super At age Well I mean maybe not at five years old Okay I'm in as a matter adult.
Starting point is 00:26:49 Or 65, definitely. I have a metric. How do you act when you're single with those? I'm not asking you, but like how do those people act when they're single as opposed to when they get in a relationship? So if you're friends, do you act differently if you get in a relationship than when you were when you're single in like in your friendship? Because that says a lot.
Starting point is 00:27:06 Because if you dip away when you're in relationship, then that says something, I feel. I don't disagree with that. But I also, I think that maybe this is where like my personal experience are coming in, like my guy friends that I've had for decades of my life now, we act the same regardless. Right. See, that's what I'm saying. That's- I've been in their weddings. Like, I don't think.
Starting point is 00:27:28 Totally. I don't know. I think it's, I think it's okay, guys. But people who do that. I think it's okay for girls and guys, be friends. Patrick, let's go to this one. My girlfriend told me to suck it up again when I vented to her about my terrible day at work, while she thinks it's okay to vent to me all the time.
Starting point is 00:27:42 I'm thinking of breaking up, honestly. Flesh it out for us, Patrick. Hello, everybody. Me, 25 male. This is not me. This is the Redditor. And my girlfriend, 24, female. Thanks.
Starting point is 00:27:57 I've been together for a bit under a year. Are you laughing? Are you laughing? Did you stop to laugh? Somebody brought stuff to the day. Look at his face. Someone made about something the day. Patrick is at best a chuckler.
Starting point is 00:28:11 Yeah. And I have friends that are like that. you ever notice that the big guy is not big guys don't laugh you know big boys chuckle you rarely see a big boy just full on laughing and i'm not saying you're a big boy Patrick i actually thought you were a little guy for a long time sure sure you are a pretty big guy pejorative um sure but you're a tuckler that's about the most we could get out of you what we just got out of you was some long silent pause with a red face when we come back the most i ever laughed was when i pranked my my brother-in-law when he was trying to sell a bicycle on like one of those uh... like a Facebook marketplace. And he thought that I was going to actually pay him over what he was asking. That was hilarious to me. That's a little bit.
Starting point is 00:28:56 Devious, dog. Do you laugh at movies? I left at tires a little bit, yeah. Yeah, it depends. Like full-on laugh or chuckle? Mostly chuckles. It takes a lot. It takes a lot of people.
Starting point is 00:29:14 It doesn't work. Well, what if you're watching is doing funny by yourself? He's like too. He's got a worldview to uphold here. Yeah. It's like, you can't go around thinking everything sucks and then show everybody laughing. That doesn't work. Go ahead.
Starting point is 00:29:28 Keep going, Patrick. Okay. I've really tried to make things work with her, but I don't really feel like she's my partner anymore. I just started a new job at a company that pays really well, but has a pretty toxic work culture. My boss is a huge a hole and demands everything me and my coworkers do be 100%. Wait, is this you, D? I'm with her already. Keep going.
Starting point is 00:29:51 Yesterday, I barely slept and had a huge headache, but my boss accused me of lying or just trying to get sympathy. I was so effing irritated by the time I got home. After work, I invited my girlfriend over to my place to hang out. I had wine and art. I genuinely thought I could vent to her. I added that part because she vints to me all the time about her problems. If she's had a bad day, I listen, reassure her, ask questions,
Starting point is 00:30:17 and try to make her feel better, but I've never told her that she's being dramatic. So I started telling her about what happened at work. I literally just wanted her to listen to me for a few minutes. She basically rolled her eyes and told me that I need to suck it up and be a man. This isn't even the first time she said this. I've told her before that it really bothers me when she dismisses me like that, especially when I'm opening up to her about something that's genuinely bothering me. I asked her why it's okay for her to vent.
Starting point is 00:30:45 This is, I know. It's a Redditor to vent to me, but not okay for me to vent to her. And she basically said that it's different. The eye roll you hit with that was. Let's all just tell them to suck it up. Stop being a baby. Because she suffered more than me, which I don't think is true.
Starting point is 00:31:02 Am I overreacting? Yeah, we'll just cut to the chase. The eye roll, I don't know if it was, I don't know if it was on camera or not. The eye roll that you hit with that was so genuine. That's not an eye roll. I didn't even know I did it. Like, it was just like, it was so just exasperated. Like, I can't.
Starting point is 00:31:18 listen to this any longer. Yeah, suck it up. Okay, she's right. Suck it up. Can you imagine, if he took the time to write five paragraphs on Reddit, can you imagine what this poor girl has to put up with in the living room? Do you think he was crying as he was writing it? Probably. Dude, I don't understand. So your reaction, hold on, real quick, just his reaction to the guy who was being made fun of a few weeks ago by his wife or his girlfriend. And then you said that it was wrong of her to make fun of the guy because he was being butt hurt over it. Oh, that was the girl who was making fun of the guy on
Starting point is 00:31:53 Instagram. She was using her husband or boyfriend as the butt of her Instagram. Yeah, I'm with that guy. When women do that, it is the worst thing to do. It's like, the guy's not in on it. You're emasculating him for the entire world. For your likes and your attention seeking,
Starting point is 00:32:09 validation. But both these guys, both these guys are reditors. They deserve it. They deserve whatever they get because they're whining. little bitches. No. These two dudes are totally different. No, well, I will say, I hear what Pat, they're totally different, totally different. Are you being serious? No, no, not the exact same guy. If you, if you are the type of person to go on to Reddit to bitch and moan about your girlfriend,
Starting point is 00:32:34 your wife or whatever, there is an element of like, why are you doing this? I agree with Patrick. For his mental health, therapy. Go to therapy. These guys all of, they both are cats. Maybe Reddit's better. Also, she should be supportive, though. Talk to chat, GBT.
Starting point is 00:32:48 Talk to chat GBT if you need to. But if you're going to read it to bitch about your partner, girlfriend, boyfriend, whoever, like, it's a red flag. Okay. Well, first, I'm not going to pretend like I'm freaking Ward Cleaver here that it's 1950s and I never complain about you guys at home. I take my work home every once in a while and my wife and I talk about it. But as a general premise, you need to suck it up. You don't bitch and moan. That is part of being a man.
Starting point is 00:33:22 You go home, you swallow. I'd like to think I swallow 70% of it. But, you know, that's a minimum. I'm probably hitting the minimum. You need to swallow 90% of it and let 10% of it out. And don't let modern day therapy world tell you that's bad. It's not bad. It makes you stronger.
Starting point is 00:33:40 It's not going to be pent up and you're going to shoot up. a post office one day. That's not what that is. This world telling you you need to bitch and moan and complain your way to better place is nonsense. That's rumination. You can get a few things out, especially if you're sorting it out, literally sorting it out, analysis, feedback. What do you think? Let's kind of analyze this. But just a bitch session, man, she can do it. You can't. End of story. Suck it up. See, I feel like if I, if I'm with somebody who has a legitimate gripe and actually needs to talk it out with me, the fact that she's like,
Starting point is 00:34:14 suck it up and be a man, like that's never going to work. Like if somebody actually has something they need to talk to me about, it also depends. Is this guy coming home every single day being like my boss was mean to me? Then yes, suck it up.
Starting point is 00:34:24 But that's also just like, I don't know. I feel like guys can share that and be emotional if something's gone on at work that's legitimately emotional, not my boss didn't believe I had a headache. But this guy had a coddling mom for sure.
Starting point is 00:34:38 And you know what? And this is something that, And not to say, obviously, I know how you feel about therapy. I feel like something with therapy. It's like, I can already see myself like doing that. Like when my, he's three. Like he'll do something. I'm like, oh, no, no, baby, it's okay.
Starting point is 00:34:50 I'm like, no, I can't put a man like this into the world that like I coddle. But I want to coddle him forever. Like, he never has to move out of my house. You got a little time. He's three. But I can already see, I can already see what I'm doing. Like within me. Don't do that.
Starting point is 00:35:03 And I know. I don't want to. I've dated mama's voice and it's awful. And don't let him be the boss. No, I don't let him be the boss. but I have dated guys that were far too old to still be mama's boys in that way. And I'm like, I can't put another man into the world that way. But I also don't know how to change that with me because I want to coddle him forever.
Starting point is 00:35:20 He's my son. Classic conundrum. I'm still scared. I can see the monster growing inside of me. Speaking of little bitches, I want to talk about James Tolariko. But first, for over two decades, the Tunnel to Towers Foundation has been there for our fallen and catastrophically injured first responders, military and Gold Star families. Born from the tragedy of 9-11, Tunnel Towers
Starting point is 00:35:40 provides mortgage-free homes to Gold Star and Fallen First Responder families with young children and builds specially adapted smart homes for catastrophically injured veterans and first responders. The Foundation also offers scholarships for college and trade school programs for the children of Gold Star families, fallen first responders, and catastrophically injured veterans.
Starting point is 00:35:57 And Tunnel Towers is committed to eradicating veteran homelessness and helping America never forget September 11th. To learn more about the Foundation's mission, impact, and how you can support our nation's heroes, visit t2t.org. All right, let's take a quick break, but continue this conversation with Barstools Casey Smith when we come back on Wilcane Country. Welcome back to Wilcane Country.
Starting point is 00:36:16 We're still hanging out with the host of the college football show. Big Noon kickoff, Barstools, Casey Smith. James Tala Rico, he put out, what do you have here on this? You have anything? Alarico? I don't think I have anything on Tala Rican. Yeah. A visual.
Starting point is 00:36:37 I was trying to figure out there's these three stories that are really ticking me off. And they're all kind of about just blatant lying. I don't like the word misinformation. I feel like that is a deep state sanitized version of lying. But I also realize the word lying doesn't have the impact that it used to. Right? You say somebody's a liar. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:36:56 Like that's a huge indictment on someone's character. It should be. But it's not anymore. Right? Do you feel that way? Yeah. Like if you meet somebody in your life who's a liar, who you know lies to you, I'm kind of done with that person.
Starting point is 00:37:08 That's not, that's not, that's pretty deep character-lover stuff for me, usually. Well, especially if they are trying to get that lie over on you. It's like, that's the worst feeling in the world to me when somebody's talking to you and you know that they know you're kind of clocking it, but they think you're too dumb to pick up on their life. That's especially what I feel with politicians. I hate it. Like, you're lying.
Starting point is 00:37:31 You know I know. I know you're lying, but you're doing it anyway for, the calculation that on the other end there's gain. The story is that James Talarico, along with several other people, put out a post, and I think he's spoken on this publicly as well, of a five-year-old being deported by ICE.
Starting point is 00:37:49 End of story. ICE is out there deporting. I bet you did, man. This is the nefariousness of the live. Five times. And do they eat it up with a spoon? Oh, yeah. Like, this should be the end of ice.
Starting point is 00:38:03 Mm-hmm. Do you know the truth behind the story? No. I didn't believe it. You don't. Okay. Well, yeah, okay, which is a good instinct. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:38:14 Because that's another thing. If you believe it, you're a massive mark. Yeah. Like, if you believe that ICE is scooping up five-year-olds and send him to Mexico, you're a massive mark. I was like, okay, yes. You will believe anything if the right person tells you it. Because you want to believe it is the reason why. This dude's dad was an illegal.
Starting point is 00:38:31 I think he was a criminal illegal alien. He got busted for something. He got deported. At that point, I believe the illegal alien is given the choice on what to do with your illegal immigrant child. And he said, leave him in America. So the dude gets deported, and then he comes back illegally again. And he gets busted again.
Starting point is 00:38:53 This time, when he's being deported, he has the option of family reunification or the same thing he did before, leave his son behind. He chose family reunification. He said, I want to take my son with me. So ICE reunifies the family and deports the father and the son. That's the story. So what do you want the story to be? That they're breaking up families, kids in cages, kids put into foster care, kids deported, family unification, not. What do you want?
Starting point is 00:39:19 This is how the story is supposed to go. Yeah. I mean, they literally just saw it as ICE is ripping families apart. Five-year-olds are being detained for God knows how long. It's a drain on the taxpayers to do any of this. So did ICE go into the kindergarten class and grab him up? Yeah. Did ICE go into the home and take the kid and kids?
Starting point is 00:39:38 only? Like, what is in the mind that James Tolariko's feeding? They saw a headline. James Tolariko is the one doing this to their mind. Yeah. And they saw a headline and they didn't really read the story. And so they have really no idea what's going on. That's why when they sent it to me, I didn't believe it or buy into it. That's also, I mean, you just said it. It depends on what side it is. He's going to argue either side. If the kid got to say in America, then it was like, while they're separating families, exactly. It's fitting something in a box for whatever narrative it is. And then the biggest danger, which is the danger with all of social media, no one's actually paying attention or caring to pay attention to what the details are. But it's, okay, the pro, yes, you're right on the consumption end.
Starting point is 00:40:18 The, on the, on the distribution end, Tala Rico is feeding the social media headline consumption falsehood. Because he's trying to get votes. Because he's a dirt bag. Well, he is a dirt bag. That's the truth. And that pisses me off compoundedly on it because he plays this holier than thou preacher guy who is out there doing demons. work. Well, they're collecting these things like their Pokemon, these stories that they could point
Starting point is 00:40:41 to down the line for elections. They could be like, hey, remember when that happened? Remember when that happened? And so they could have specific things that they could talk about, but they are just jitting them up, and then they don't mean it. And by the way, if you don't remember the details, and this is the hard part,
Starting point is 00:40:57 like, I don't remember the details on this kid's story four months from now when they bring this up randomly as a falsehood, what do I do? You're like, I can't remember the details. It was the Dad shows not to... Well, then you sound like a bad person for being like, well, I need to see the details. And you also in your mind already know, like, well, that was a false story about, so I don't need to reread it or, you know, they...
Starting point is 00:41:19 Right. But if somebody brings it up to you and you're like, I don't remember the details, then they can then be like, well, see, you're not even actually paying attention. But everyone made a decision on it already. Right. People like James Hilarico or in general, and it is politicians as a whole. They want the quote to make them look like a person that cares about people so that then every... Everyone can share it on social media, on blogs, whatever, because then they, like, see, James Hallorico cares about a five-year-old kid. It's like, look into the actual details of it. Right, exactly. And if you don't care about this five-year-old kid, then you are a bad person. That's why a lot of it, Dan, I know you and I've had this conversation a lot because it happens in New York a ton.
Starting point is 00:41:56 But just in general, like the liberal social media influencer world, all they do right now is say, we care about people. The right does not. So if you are on the right, you just simply don't care about people. And they run with that. And it's hard as a headline to argue when they're like, it's cool to care about people. It's like, we all care about people. You're just using that as a shield because you don't actually want to explain what you're talking about. Like the Brooklyn brunch group was literally like, look at how cold and heartless Republicans are and send that story.
Starting point is 00:42:25 Right. So here's a question. First of all, do you know who Ms. Rachel is? Yes. I don't. You don't? Only because she's in political news now. Will. Miss Rachel. So for the she she follows me on Instagram too. That was a big moment. This is this is I know I keep doing this and she won't. No. So Miss Rachel. Miss Rachel is like the queen of children's programming like early learning. She she she she on like Nickelodeon. No, YouTube. So she actually her backstory is that she had her her first child had some speech development issues and she went on and she could not find free programming for kids that needed to have help with their.
Starting point is 00:43:04 speech. So she started doing videos from as, as, you know, young as infants all the way up through preschool where she's teaching them how to say words. And it's not all that flashy stuff that you see on a lot of these kids' programs. So it's actually very educational. And there was something so endearing about her that, I mean, like my son wanted to watch Miss Rachel nonstop, and I would watch it. And it's very educational. So I was like, that's great. She became where her voice, just as soon as you start to hear it, he would run into the room. Really? And he would sit down. And so she, she's all YouTube. All YouTube. I think she's on Netflix now, but she's also, like, for example, when I went through potty training,
Starting point is 00:43:38 I had a Miss Rachel training potty. 21 million. It would say, yeah, it would say she would be like, good job. I'm so proud of you. But it was because they would equate that with her personality on the show. And then at some point, she decided to go more into politics. But she's awful. She's awful.
Starting point is 00:43:58 So she's, do you have this? It's, it when, so my son is three and a half. We have not... We don't have this. Yeah, we have not watched Miss Rachel in a while. Like, he's gone to pop a troll and whatever. But it's, I would, I was like constantly commenting and sharing things with her with my friends who had kids the same age because it was so good. And then one day it was like all of a sudden, like if you talk about Miss Rachel, you're jumping into the politics world.
Starting point is 00:44:23 That's been within the last year. It has to be. That's insane. So she did a video recently where she said, you guys may have heard the story. There was a story, was it primarily, primarily, I. out of Mississippi where... No. Rawley, North Carolina, right?
Starting point is 00:44:39 Well, I think both. First was in Mississippi, and then there was a couple in North Carolina where there was black people hanging from trees, right? Okay, that's about the depth of most people's analysis. From there, run where you want to run. And that's exactly what people like Ms. Rachel did.
Starting point is 00:44:55 And she did videos saying, like, black people don't hang themselves from trees. And the suggestion is, I don't know if she's saying the KKK is running wild, generalized white supremacy, cops. I don't know who she's blaming specifically, but she is saying there's these horrible racists of some affiliation out there hanging black people from trees. Well, I believe in the case of Mississippi, they know that one was a homicide, a boyfriend hung his girlfriend, I believe is what it was, black on black crime, and the other seven
Starting point is 00:45:28 of eight were suicides. Like the cops say this. Black cops say this. You know, black mayors. Everybody acknowledges the facts. So Ms. Rachel's talking about the one in North Carolina doing this whole thing. And she says, I remember this from the video, which Patrick doesn't have, which he's checking his phone, I know, as we speak to see if I texted it. Well, that was from yesterday.
Starting point is 00:45:50 I know you did that. I know. That was from yesterday. Okay. Well, got. But I didn't think you wanted it today. And. Did she put it on her answer? She said black people don't hang themselves from trees.
Starting point is 00:46:01 It's side by side with the video of the chief of police, black guy saying we have video of the incident and the dude is carrying an extension cord to the tree and hanging himself from the tree. Another example. Okay, am I going to call that misinformation? This is just nefarious toxic poison. People like Miss Rachel are pouring into the brains of people out there. False, lies. Bullshit. toxic.
Starting point is 00:46:34 And she take her off your toilet. And I'm reading now, she gave money to Abdul al-Sayat's campaign. $3,000. So this is where, and I know people, we talked about it to start the show
Starting point is 00:46:47 with Dolly Parton. It's like, Miss Rachel, for what she was, at least in my tiny little bubble with my son, I don't want somebody to talk about politics in that way.
Starting point is 00:47:00 Like, be bipartisan. But you're teaching. I mean, the videos are super catchy. Like, I could still sing all of her songs right now. But when people decide to go political, I can't then be like, well, shut up and just be who you are. I would prefer you not because you're teaching kids. But also, like, I can't tell you not. I completely disagree with most of the stuff she's doing now. I haven't even noticed it. If Ms. Rachel disagreed with me on Medicare for all, and I'm even going that far, if she disagreed with me about health policy, if she disagreed with me about appropriate levels of taxation. I'm okay still saying, oh, let's listen to her speech therapy on YouTube. You see what I'm saying? But there is another place that she can go, which is this.
Starting point is 00:47:40 And if she does this, I don't want to hear you on anything. Well, she did this. I understand that way. She became radicalized, I think, off of the Gaza stuff and the Israel stuff. And that's where she started getting more political. That's what happened. And then it kind of has snowballed to where she's becoming radical left and just exposing all that kind of stuff. But I agree with you.
Starting point is 00:48:00 like, I mean, Mr. Rogers was in support of, like, public broadcasting. I'm not really in support of public broadcasting, but I like Mr. Rogers. I love that PR. It's like the Dolly Parton quote. She said, you know, I work in the entertainment business. I'm going to shut my mouth when it comes
Starting point is 00:48:15 to politics. It's not my job. That's why Dolly has this favorability rate. I'm saying she, like, even if you talk about it and I know it's different, but with Sophie Cunningham weeks and weeks ago, it was like Sophie Cunningham versus Caitlin Clark and who can't. If, you can't, if you speak about politics, you are going to, you know, you're going to get fans to leave and fans to come in.
Starting point is 00:48:36 But you're right, Patrick, where Ms. Rachel started was, I don't remember exactly when it was, but she started speaking out about Gaza. And then parents were attacking her, like, basically shut up and sing the ABCs. And she was like, I'm not going to shut up. I'm not just a teacher. I'm not just an entertainer. And it almost snowballed. I didn't even know it had snowballed into that because I'm not paying attention to her world anymore. But now I just went and just looked at her Instagram feed just to see. And it is nothing. with what used to be when, I mean, and that's within three years. My son's three. That's how fast it's happened.
Starting point is 00:49:05 That story. She posts about a lot of stuff now. It's crazy. Is the Brooklyn brunch crew talking about the measles outbreak and blaming it on RFK? No, but someone else close to me has mentioned that. That's also fake. I know. That's also fake.
Starting point is 00:49:20 I know. We have that story. The kids who died from measles and everybody's point, it's like two or three cases in Pennsylvania. And what is it, Patrick? One of them, the kid died. of something else. It was a bit as an infant. So it was an infant who died of a ruptured spleen, I believe.
Starting point is 00:49:37 Now, infants don't get the MMR vaccination until a year old. So they wouldn't have even had vaccinations if they wanted the vaccinations. Huh. And they, and even if you die and they had antibodies of measles. They didn't even actually know if they had measles. So. But what's total? It's a total.
Starting point is 00:49:59 Who writes the thing, then? Go ahead. Who's doing it? Like, who just makes this a huge issue? Because that's where you've got to look. I mean, because if a writer, if a writer sees it. Yeah, I have you here. NBC News, one of two people who recently died of measles in Pennsylvania was an infant.
Starting point is 00:50:18 So is that not true? Health Department says. Is that statement not true from NBC? Died of measles. Yeah. He died of a spleen rupture. So that's not true then. So then they need to be held accountable for lying in their headline.
Starting point is 00:50:32 Dying with measles and dying of measles are two different things. Two different things. Oh, boy, take us back to COVID. Yeah. I mean. Say comorbidity is one more time. But also what happened? Like this is, like does NBC News have to retract that?
Starting point is 00:50:51 I don't know what they have. But that's where like all of this is. But it's kind of true. Governor of Pennsylvania, Josh Shapiro, presidential candidate. He's pushing it like the Tala Rico thing He's pushing it So it's not just some dipshit at NBC News It's then
Starting point is 00:51:05 Either fed by or echoed by Josh Shapiro But they say that because that's headline backs them The Brooklyn brunch crew Yeah Right because they're going to And it's going to get the votes on their side If they, because that's what backs their belief
Starting point is 00:51:22 So then they can run with it They already believe RFK is a quack And Trump is ruining America Here's a headline Yeah. Boom. Right. And then nobody's going to go look and be like, well, NBC is lying.
Starting point is 00:51:32 Right. And share it to your Instagram story and then you feed it. It's all the echo chambers and the algorithms make it worse. They will. Hey, remember this? You know, it's just going to be. You're going to have to remember all the details. Someone's collecting, I'm sure, this time.
Starting point is 00:51:45 Which we know you can't do after what happened yesterday on TV. I can't remember the details. That's right. Patrick, speaking of yesterday, how do you feel after the data center debate when we wake up today and learn that on X, China had a farm that fed 200,000 bots on X feeding anti-Data Center and other stuff as well. I think anti-oil and gas as well, some other stuff. Content out there for everybody. I think it's, I think we're in a problem, we're literally in an information war.
Starting point is 00:52:23 And so you're going to have that. but I also feel like there are a lot of paid shills for data centers. So it's like it's kind of hard to tell where the propaganda ends. Well, I had Kristen Cinema on the show yesterday and she's paid. I think that we said that. She is a lobbyist on behalf of it. A lot of people were mad at me. Like, why would you have her and accused me of being a shill for data centers?
Starting point is 00:52:46 I want to say a lot. I saw a handful of comments. But, I mean, the anti-Data center thing. is clearly being fed by Shills, this time from China. I'm not saying that erases all potential for legitimate concern, right? That's not, for the record, that's not where I go with this. I'm not going that far. But I do think you should step back and go, wait a minute, wait a minute, wait a minute. And by the way, if they're doing $200,000, you think that's even a scratch on the surface? Like, how much are they doing? That's one bot farm that they've discovered on X.
Starting point is 00:53:25 Russia, too. That's one. Yeah. Then Russia. And on and on, Dan. Other countries. But the UK does it to us and other people. You know, we're all out for ourselves.
Starting point is 00:53:39 That's what somebody's all. It's all a giant info. That was such a. Damn it. That's so true. But we're just in a giant information war. And so it's like really hard, I think, for the average person to sit there and like be able to filter out what's true and what's not true.
Starting point is 00:53:55 And so it's like, you know, I do agree that. And then people fight bots in comments. Yeah. And then there's bots fighting each other. And then those real people see those bots fighting each other. And then go into that conversation. You're just like fighting with literal computers. And I know you don't like the NPC thing.
Starting point is 00:54:14 But like so many people don't think outside of the average talking points that they can easily get into fights with these bots. thinking that they're talking to a normal person because they can't have those conversations. All right, let's take a quick break, but continue this conversation with Barstools Casey Smith when we come back on Will Kane Country. Welcome back to Will Kane Country. We're still hanging out with the host of the college football show,
Starting point is 00:54:39 Big Noon kickoff, Barstools, Casey Smith. Do you believe in the dead internet theory? Yes. Yeah. What's that? That's interesting. That half the internet is that really, that most of the internet is actually just bots
Starting point is 00:54:50 and not real people. So like you think. Well, I saw people after this bot, story. I saw people saying what percentage of... Right. That's the dead. I'm not trying to kick X. I'm not trying to kick X alone or in particular in the nuts because I actually think it's Instagram. It's all of them. But people were saying like, if this is scratching the surface, what percentage of this entire thing is just complete Fugazi? And somebody's like 60%. If you go look at just a random tweet that has a
Starting point is 00:55:19 decent amount of engagement. And if you just scroll and you look at most of the comments look like bought comments. They're all like repeating each other in one like former fashion. And so I see that on Facebook. I don't know that I, I may have a bad eye for it. I don't know that I see it. They're getting, well, they're getting to where it's like you, but what at least tips it to me is if it's like a headline about like, let's just say like Lindsay Clancy and like underneath it, there will be a bunch of different people saying something around the same thing like the kids deserve justice, but it's, it looks the same with a bunch of different users. Yeah. And it's all kind of formatted the same.
Starting point is 00:55:56 It's like, oh, these are just a bunch of bots repeating each other because Lindsay Clancy murdered her kids. Right. Does that make sense? Yeah, yeah. It's not like it's necessarily if there was one or two comments, like, okay, but then there's 40 and they all look the exact same. It's some bot farm that's attaching itself to that story. And back to where we started this conversation, the Instagram likes and all that. I think a lot of that's fake.
Starting point is 00:56:17 Oh, yeah. And the content itself is fake. Musicians buy comments. The content. You know, artists, anybody. You could buy comments. Buying followers. Buying followers, that's been a thing.
Starting point is 00:56:28 I mean, what? That's been a thing for a while. That's been a thing for a long time. That was happening. And then there was like a huge purge that happened. And this is when I was already at Barstles or maybe like 2018, 2019. And I remember like specific people in sports media. I remember that too.
Starting point is 00:56:41 Like getting like half their following gone. It was like they bought followers and why are they as important that they are. That's always been going on. Buying comments is also obvious. Buying followers, I feel like it's got to be old. I don't know if people are still doing it. But it's so obvious. for example, on X, when you see the incredibly low engagement on a really high account,
Starting point is 00:57:00 on a really high followed account, you're like, something's not right here. I think on Instagram, it's still a thing because a lot of times now, and the Instagram algorithm has changed so much, but a lot of brands will look at how many people have, how many people follow this person. Do we want to do business with them or not? So I would assume in like the influencer world, and I'm not trying to like talk down on influencers, but it's like, well, if I have two million followers versus a million followers, I can get bigger brand deals. So I just might as well put that money in there to make it look like more people care. But I would have to think those brands and those agencies are smart enough to figure that out.
Starting point is 00:57:35 I would think so. But I mean, how do you have to have back into analytics on some of that stuff? I don't, I don't know. Or maybe they don't care. I don't know. But I think the bot stuff on social media has gotten so good but also so prevalent that it's just like, I just assume half the stuff. I'm seeing is not a real person. This is why I quit, Patrick.
Starting point is 00:57:54 This is why I barely do it. What's the point? What? Do you think I'm a bot? What's the point? Just engage with me. We'll just have fun back and forth. One day we'll create an AI, Patrick does it for the love of the games. Sometimes I'll see Patrick's tweets, and I'm like, that was just for the love of the game.
Starting point is 00:58:10 Like, he didn't care if anybody actually saw that. He just wanted to get it off of his chest. I got to respect it. You know what's funny, Patrick? You and I are kind of in the same algorithm. A lot of the content I see you end up seeing, but I don't see your stuff. The algorithm is not like, hey, you should see this thing from Patrick. He will tag me.
Starting point is 00:58:27 It knows you've already heard it on our show, so you don't need to see it again. Yeah, maybe. That's not true. I hold a lot of things back here. You'll tag me in like anti-A&M stuff and then all of a sudden the next time I'm on X. He's a troll. I know, but then the next time I'm on it, but when he does it, the next time I get on to X, his tweet will be at the top of my algorithm.
Starting point is 00:58:48 as if I want to see what Patrick thinks after he talks about it. That's what I really like the, when I have the opportunity to, like, I don't try to troll, but when it presents itself, I love it. Like, was that last night I texted you guys or the night before I said, oh shit, Vince Young wanted to be a Florida State Seminole? I watched the documentary. He wanted to go to FSU, but you guys offered him as a wide receiver. Yeah. Which I had Vince Young term, long term might have been better for him, okay? Like you look at Anquan Bolden.
Starting point is 00:59:19 For him, yeah. He was a white, he was a quarterback. A wide receiver could have been better for him? I'll get out of here. Yeah. I'm saying in college, in college it was great. But I'm saying long term in the NFL. It's true.
Starting point is 00:59:33 I think Vince, I know that I am looking through burnt orange colored glasses. Ugly. I think Vince is the best college quarterback in history. Somebody said it well. He was Michael Jordan of college football. He was unstoppable. I like watching Vic. He was unstoppable.
Starting point is 00:59:50 I mean, Cam Newton, I would put probably up there. Nope. Why? Nope. Just because he did it. Watched him. Good. Good.
Starting point is 00:59:57 I'm not saying he's not great. Not good. I'm not saying Vince isn't up there, but I, but if you can win a Heisman and a national title. The people say it about are, I think they still say Vince. Cam, Cam Newton, Tim Tebow. And I do see people say Joe Burrow a lot, even though it was just one season. Yeah, but what Joe Burrow, with that offense and I, what they were able to do.
Starting point is 01:00:19 The one that really gets to me is when people try to argue like Baker Mayfield is in that. And that bothers me. Like I just don't put Baker Mayfield anywhere near there. That's just because of the five seasons. It was the length of time. Tim Tebow was not a great college quarterback. He was a great college football player. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:00:35 He was not a great college quarterback. That's fair. Correct. Yeah, but part of that you have to factor in. You got to give Tebow credit for that. Like I'm not saying that Vince, Vince wasn't as good of a, we're narrowly defined. the word quarterback as Joe Burrow. Joe Burrow was a better quarterback, but Vince had more football to him than made him a better college quarterback. So, I mean, I know it's different when it's
Starting point is 01:00:57 college football in the NFL, but it's like when people talk about like Tom Brady and they're like, well, from a ring standpoint, from a success standpoint, it's him, but he might not be the best quarterback. To me, it's like, what success level did you have and how long was it sustained? Vince Young is absolutely in that conversation. The thing with Joe Burrow, the reason, because I think the 2019 LSU team is one of the best college football teams of all time. Jamar Chase, who was it, Jamar Chase, the receiving core was absurd.
Starting point is 01:01:22 But I'm saying, but he was just such a big part of that. I'm not saying that Vince Young wasn't, but yeah, Justin Jefferson. Justin Jefferson, but there's another. There was three. It was gross. Who's it the, um, but the,
Starting point is 01:01:33 but the 2019 LSU, like, you said to me, okay, well, you get to compete for a national title, one game right now. You get 2005 Vince Young or you get 2019 Joe Burrow. I'm taking the 2005 Vince. I'm not just saying this. Like, I do think there's a little bit of Texas and that. That's not a bad answer.
Starting point is 01:01:47 But I do, I mean, if it was my quarterback, I would say the same thing, too. But I just think Joe Burrow is a bigger answer across the board if you're not affiliated with Texas. But he had all that around him. They both had amazing teams around him. Like, where do you put like Matt Linerd in that? Do you do you. That's great. He lost events.
Starting point is 01:02:02 Well, see. There's the bias right there. But I'm just saying when you look at a with, so Cam Newton to me and I always put Cam Newton as number one. Because you guys. I like Matt a lot for the record. Yeah. Yeah. That's great.
Starting point is 01:02:13 But I'm saying people always talk about like Reggie Bush and all that. But with Cam Newton, And Cam Newton was like, granted it was one season, but he was that season. That's actually one of my favorite guys that I've gotten into after. Big Newton kickoff next week. Next week, fellas. There was something on this. We have a long history of Texas of taking great quarterbacks and trying to make them receivers or safeties.
Starting point is 01:02:34 And I just wanted that moment to get you back. I mean, I think Texas offered, they offered Robert Griffin, RG3 and Johnny. And Johnny Menzel. I think both of them is safeties. I was about to say that every school has that story where it's because like you brought it up with Vince Young for Florida State it's like I was going to say and if you talk to any Aggie, it's like remember
Starting point is 01:02:55 you offered Johnny Manzella's safety and Baylor the same way RG3 and it's like every school has that. Yeah. It's just really fun when it's, you know, your guy went to the highest. It's fun to troll. What was Mac Brown doing? By the way, you didn't troll me because I already saw it. But first of all, real quick.
Starting point is 01:03:10 Did you watch the whole document? You also? No, no, no. Mack Brown. I cut out halfway through. Florida State. Florida State alumni. So he pulled
Starting point is 01:03:18 I love Mac Brown Who can't you not He's the best Who wanted to go to Florida State for you guys So you guys I mean you're welcome
Starting point is 01:03:25 First of all Okay All right Mac Brown is somebody who I just He's so nice And when I worked at ESPN And I did a couple of games
Starting point is 01:03:34 With him And then like Was it just you know In passing Like he'll still every once And all reach out to me About stuff And I'm like that's just
Starting point is 01:03:40 Such a good dude I hated that he wasn't On my sidelines Yeah You know Did you watch the whole documentary? We're going to end here. But Patrick, did you watch the whole documentary?
Starting point is 01:03:50 No. Oh, you didn't get to the end? He lived it. Okay. Because I want to see what you thought about Jeff Fisher. Jeff Fisher? Oh, yeah. I saw the clip.
Starting point is 01:04:00 Yeah, it was really interesting, man. I don't think Jeff Fisher came off very good at this documentary. Is it a good documentary if you don't love Vince Young in Texas? It's not the best documentary I've ever seen in terms of how it was done. Okay. They're fine. It's an untold. Oh, it's an untold. Yeah. I thought Johnny's untold was not done well.
Starting point is 01:04:20 Yeah. But. No offense. Yeah. I mean, this is more like, this isn't about Vince or it's about just production. How well they produced the documentary. You know what I mean? Right. That's what I'm saying. But like super weird deal. They had an interview with Lindale White. He was sitting with Bose Gave, who was tied into Texas, Lindell White running back at USC in the national championship game, right? But they were all in the Titans together with Vince Young.
Starting point is 01:04:43 and they get to the documentary part where it's fourth and two. This is the seminal moment in the game. And if USC converts fourth and two, they win the game. But Texas stopped them. They gave it to Linda White. He didn't get there. They didn't ask him about it. That's crazy.
Starting point is 01:04:58 That's so wild. Or he said, don't ask me about it. I wondered if he said, I'm not going to talk about that play. Or they asked him about it and they didn't like the answer enough, so they just left it out. That could have been the case. But if they didn't ask, then that, like, that alone is. I can't assume they didn't ask. Maybe his answer was like, just.
Starting point is 01:05:13 kind of, ugh. But you still, I feel like even then you still put it in, because if you're sitting there thinking, why did you not speak on this? I want to hear what Lindel White thinks about that play. Exactly. So you have to assume they didn't ask. But Vince goes through his whole things, and I think Vince would be the first to say he did not behave in the right way when he was a Tennessee Titan.
Starting point is 01:05:34 You forget, he got rookie of the year. He's not a total bust. He was rookie of the year, starting quarterback. But he just spiraled. What happened to him? I don't remember that. a whole It was almost all
Starting point is 01:05:45 behavioral Didn't he start like just spending his money super recklessly to? I'm sure that is true but he also got defrauded his agent
Starting point is 01:05:55 stole money and they got in a lawsuit So he wasn't the I can't remember I know it was somebody from Texas Was he the one I thought that he would
Starting point is 01:06:02 rent out entire planes for himself What was that Vince? That may be Maybe not I mean the famous story is that Vince was three minutes late
Starting point is 01:06:08 to a plane And Jeff Fisher said close the doors We're leaving And yeah And, okay, that's one story that you're a hard-assed. He and Jeff Fisher, the story is that Jeff Fisher didn't want him. Jeff Fisher wanted Jay Cutler.
Starting point is 01:06:22 And Norm Chow, the offensive coordinator for the Titans, who was the offensive coordinator for USC, wanted Matt Linerd. But Bud Adams, the owner of the Oilers, the no effing way, we want Vince. So the story is he goes in, and he's in a situation where they didn't really want it. But they did give him the starting quarterback position right away. But it spiraled. I mean, he's late. He's Vince rules. He's a celebrity already, not just from being at Texas because he got rookie the year in the NFL.
Starting point is 01:06:49 He's the cover of Madden. So he wasn't doing things the right way. But Jeff Fisher seems like it was also a really bad mix with him because Jeff has got a real prickly personality. And so they're budding heads. And ultimately, I would say I put it on the player. Like, you've got to conform. How do you know you're not going to ruin it? To the environment.
Starting point is 01:07:08 How do you not realize that? But I don't think Jeff developed Vince. personally and professionally. And he came from Mack Brown. And Mac was like, put his arm around you, coddle you a little bit, bring you along, give you a violence. Everybody's grandpa. Yeah. So part of me is like, yeah, well, that's not your world anymore. Grow up. You've got to conform. But on the flip side, Vince is, and I met Vince last year at Big Noon Kickoff at Ohio State. He's an awesome guy. He's a really nice guy. And he's honest, he's pretty honest in the documentary about his own failings and coming to grips with what he did. He's, and he also says,
Starting point is 01:07:41 are you at peace with it? He goes, hell no, I'm not at peace with it. I'm not at peace with because I think Vince could have been a great, great NFL quarterback as well. I mean, the talent alone. Right. But at the end, they say he wrote Jeff Fisher a letter, right? And kind of, at least you don't see the letter, but the way they describe it is he apologizes or owns his part in this whole thing with Fisher. And Fisher never wrote him back. What a do you describe. wrote him back. And they asked Fisher in the documentary,
Starting point is 01:08:12 why didn't you write Vince back? And Fisher's like, I mean, he misspelled my name to start the letter. He's like, if you can't even get my name spelled right, like.
Starting point is 01:08:23 Never mind. I take the douche back back. No, but he said, but he said he misspelled my name. He misspelled my name. And I didn't even know it was from him because of that. Was what he said.
Starting point is 01:08:35 So he was, he was not regretful. He was not regretful about not writing him back. For sure. I'm like, and I'm no Jeff Fisher fan. He misspelled your name. How bad was there a relationship?
Starting point is 01:08:46 That's another thing, too. Like, if there was some, I mean, yes, you should have right him back. Like, if it was that bad for him to not write him back, but he can use, like, first of all, when people misspell my name, when they're, like, writing me an email wanting something for me, that does bother me. It doesn't mean I'm not going to write him back. But if they truly hate each other, maybe he was like, I don't even want to open this door again. Spell Fisher. F-I-S-H-E-R? No.
Starting point is 01:09:07 I think she misspelled it, didn't she? There's a C in there. F-I-S-C-H. There's not a C in there? No. No, there's not. I'm not to spell to too. Yeah, I don't think so.
Starting point is 01:09:17 I think it's just straight fish. Everybody's adding C's. I don't. How do you spell my name, well? K-A-Y-C-E? One-A. Oh, one-e? Just curious.
Starting point is 01:09:32 Did you say E-E? That's kind of on you. That's not bad. You think I named myself? Yeah, well, but you know what I mean. My parents did it. I have told them a million times because my mom's excuse was always like, well, your last name is Smith. So we thought it was kind of boring when to spice up your first name.
Starting point is 01:09:47 So I was like, so you wanted people to call me case my whole life. You should have added an extra E, but you didn't. Oh, so I was intuitive by adding the second E. Well, you were intuitive, but you've known me for too long to spell it wrong. It goes off the rails right off the bat. No, it doesn't. With K. There's K-A-S-E, K-A-C-I-E, K-A-C-I.
Starting point is 01:10:04 K-C-I-E is 80% C. If you're a guy. You know, girls aren't Casey with this? I was, I don't know what was going on in the late 80s, early 90s, but I literally have four girlfriends. And then random Y. K, K-A-Y? Okay, I'm not saying. There's a lot going on before you ever get to Is It Too E's?
Starting point is 01:10:23 I have four other. You feel like you hit a triple by the time you got to the ease. And then you're like, just round the bases and come home. And it's like, no, it's one. No, you're out. You're out. You're out at home plate. I have four girlfriends that are all born around the same time that I'm.
Starting point is 01:10:39 They're all Casey's and it's all spelled differently, but they are all K's. Like Caitlin. You spell it a million different ways. Okay, here it is. 80% of the time it's C-A-S-E-Y. If you're a guy. No, I think in general. I think girls are C's two.
Starting point is 01:10:52 And then I think, and then I think there's another 10% that is K-A-S-E-Y. Okay. So now we're at 90%. So everything else is in, where am I? You're in a 1% tops. You might be the only. No, I've met. Less.
Starting point is 01:11:10 I'm with Patrick. Less. I don't even know after C-A-S-E-Y and K-A-S-E-Y, what other variations? K-A-C-I-E. K-A-C-E. K-A-C-E-Y is very common for females. K-A-C-E-Y. K-A-C-E-Y.
Starting point is 01:11:30 All more common until we get to you. All more common. You think K-A-C-C-I? is more common? No, not that one. That's my that's one of my best friends from college and it was, she's redhead, so she's redhead of Casey.
Starting point is 01:11:43 It doesn't. No. What does two ease? K-A-Y-C-E is used. I'm vindicated. I just was curious if you would spell my name right. But that's not her name.
Starting point is 01:11:54 Are you going to watch college football tomorrow? T-C-U-N-C-C-1-A-M? I was trying to remember the game. That's what I was trying to remember. Yeah, people are playing tomorrow, Patrick. Yeah, I'll play that. I'll watch that game.
Starting point is 01:12:06 No, I don't think so. What else is tomorrow? I don't think anybody's playing tomorrow. What do you mean? People... Yeah. I don't think there are anything. North Carolina, TCU, San Jose State, USC. Florida State or something? Yeah, New Mexico State. They play tomorrow at 6 on the CW. No, I don't think so.
Starting point is 01:12:20 On the CW. Look at you guys. The best game is North Carolina TCU. I don't even get that channel. I mean, that's the... Who does USC play? San Jose State. No, the only game, honestly, the only game that I care about is North Carolina TCU. Send that DM will.
Starting point is 01:12:34 Dublin. Yeah. What? Send that DM while you got it. Oh, well, I got her phone. I'm like, no, no. Dan, I hate you for that. All right, that's going to do it today.
Starting point is 01:12:46 Guys should DM first. Our thanks to K-A-Y-C-E-S-M-I-T-H. How do you spell Lee? My middle name is Lee. My middle name is Lee. How do you spell that? See, that's another one. L-E-I-G-H.
Starting point is 01:13:00 Vindic-A-G-H. That's the girl version of Lee. Casey Lee. By the way, L-E-E is a boy's name? Bring it back. Yeah. I think it's a great name. Generally.
Starting point is 01:13:07 Lee. Not enough Lee's out there. That's going to do it for us today. Make sure you subscribe to Spotify or Apple. We'll see you again next time.
