One, the first college football rankings.
Two, fire sale in New York, and one of the big buyers, the Dallas Cowboys.
Three, which sports franchise has the best celebrity fans?
It is Will Kane Country, normally streaming live every Monday through Thursday at 12 o'clock
Eastern time at Wilcane Country YouTube, but you can always follow us at Spotify or on Apple.
That's where you'll find the Friday Sports Edition, Canaan Sports.
Two days, Dan, tinfoil pat, here with us today in the crew as we work through some of our favorite stories today in sports.
So let's get started now with story number one.
The very first college football playoff committee rankings of 2025.
And they read as follows.
Number one, Ohio State.
Number two, Indiana.
Number three, the Texas A&M Aggies.
Number four, Alabama, number five, Georgia, number six, Ole Miss.
Number seven, BYU, number eight, Texas Tech.
Number nine, Oregon, ten Notre Dame, 11, Virginia.
And 12, Memphis.
First team out, Texas Longhorns.
Second team out, Oklahoma Sooners.
All right, boys, I only have one big gripe,
and it's going to hit home right here on Wilcane Country.
What in the world is Notre Dame doing ahead of the Texas Longhorns?
I knew that you were going to say that.
I knew that was the first thing you were going to say.
I kind of agree with you, to be honest with you.
Exactly.
Thank you.
At least you have some rationality here.
Yeah.
They have better losses than Texas does.
Is that how we do this?
Better losses?
That's where we're at.
That's how it happens now.
Well, you both have two losses.
You both are losers.
How about better wins?
What's your better win?
We have two top 25 wins.
Oklahoma, which is the second team out, and Vanderbilt.
Who has Notre Dame beat?
We beat USC.
Yeah.
Keep going.
Keep going.
Keep going
Yeah
Boston College
I mean we really beat Boston College
Yeah
Everybody yeah that's a good point
Yeah that's a great
Everybody runs in fear of Boston College
Tough place to play
Arkansas Purdue
I hate to go to Boston
Patrick we don't do this by who has
the better loss
That is a loser world
We can't live in a loser world
Who has the better losses
You got to live in a winner world
And that's who has the better win
that's the SEC paradigm that i mean the SEC lives off of the better loss
it just depends on what you want how you want to frame it's like it's all about creating
the narrative it's changed though i feel like with the playoff it's gotten better
they do factor in strength of schedule and strength of record and i'm not i am a rational
fan. I have been a rational fan all year. You guys are on the text chain. I've been down on Texas. I've
been down on Arch. Now, I should say that game against Vanderbilt might have been a corner
turned. It was something else, and Arch Manning was something else. I have a bunch of people
asking me, do you think they can beat Georgia? Do you think they can beat Texas A&M? If Arch
Manning plays like he did against Vanderbilt, the answer is yes. I'm not predicting a win, but they can
be those teams. That was a vastly different team than anyone you had seen this season. And maybe
it's an aberration. Maybe it was a one-off. But Archmanning was standing in the pocket,
climbing the pocket, taking hits, delivering strikes, throw an anticipatory throws where the
receiver will be, not where he's standing wide open with two men three yards apart on either
side of the receiver. He was going through progressions. That was an entirely different
quarterback than the one that we've seen so far this season. And if that's the case,
I don't think there's any reason that Notre Dame should be over Texas. The sheer resume
argument is easy. Texas over Notre Dame. You keep shaking your head, Patrick. But there's literally
no objective reason to place Notre Dame over Texas. None. But I'm saying you're discounting teams
like, I don't know, 7 and 1 Louisville who have a better win and a better record. And their only loss
was to a top 25 Virginia team.
So, I mean, it's like, where's Virginia now?
I mean, they're probably, they're in the top 15.
So, like, right now, Will, do you think if Notre Dame played Texas, what's the outcome?
It's just hard for me to do that.
And I'm trying to be objective.
Okay.
I'm not trying to be Instagram, Will.
I'm trying to be, you know, sober, will.
And the answer is, I think that the Texas team to beat Vanderbilt would.
absolutely beat Notre Dame. I think that the Texas team that I saw play Kentucky or Mississippi
State would lose to Notre Dame. So it's just a matter of what do I get to see from this
point forward from Texas. And I think they are a wild card. And I actually think the team
that beat Vanderbilt, even though that game was close, Vanderbilt scored 21 points in the fourth
quarter, it was a lot of prevent defense and there was some bad, really bad refereeing calls that
that made that game closer than it actually was
if you watched the game.
And Patrick, how dare you say that guy crossed the line
on the two-point conversion?
He, I mean, what,
I'm, you're losing credibility with me, with me.
And that's bad news for you.
You're losing credibility with me.
Total troll.
That was, the catch with the thwarted and non-catch
was not a catch.
I was just trolling.
The Vanderbilt thing, that was not a two-point conversion.
How does that ref say that's a two-point conversion?
How does he do that?
He was standing right there.
But anyway, we don't need to get bogged down in that.
There was also a pass interference call that wasn't made
that would have given Texas a first and goal with the, whatever, 10-yard line.
And all of this would have meant that it wasn't as closest of a game as it looked in the scoreboard.
But I just don't know if that's going to be the Texas team that I get to see going forward.
I would not be shocked at all to see the one that barely beat Kentucky be the team that shows up going forward.
And if that's the case, I won't be arguing.
I won't be arguing for Texas to be in the playoff.
Now, if I get to see that team against Vanderbilt going forward, that team can beat anybody.
They can lose, too.
I'm not saying they're dominant.
But they almost beat, what, number one Ohio State?
That was a close game.
Neither team looked very good.
And Ohio State's gotten better.
Julian Sayan has gotten way better since that time.
But Texas could be a real dark horse going forward.
I think a lot of this is going to sort itself out, as it always does.
First of all, there's not going to be two big 12 teams in the playoff.
BYU and Texas Tech, that's going to sort itself out.
I hate to be a brand snob, but I don't think Virginia,
I'm going to be shocked if Virginia runs the table Wednesday, ACC.
And by the way, you talking up Louisville and their victory over Miami,
are we sure they're good?
Are we sure about Miami?
Carson Beck?
Carson Beck is not great.
No.
And by the way, have you seen the way he reacts
in these post-game press conferences?
It's really unflattering for Carson Beck.
I think in the first loss to Louisville,
did he blame...
Who did he blame in that one?
Was it the receiver?
He blamed his receiver.
That's right.
He blamed the receiver for the route that he ran.
And then in the loss to SMU,
he blamed the coaching staff, right?
for the calls that they made.
I mean,
not impressive.
Can't do that.
You want to draft that guy in the NFL?
NFL teams hate that.
That was my massive red flag for Miami.
Like, I was not high on them.
They're very talented across the board,
but Beck is a train wreck.
It was only a matter of time
before the wheels came off.
But I do think that Louisville is a really good team,
and Brom is a very good coach.
I think he should be on probably
some of the top of the coaching
lists for some of these openings, though he's probably not going to leave because it's his alma
mater. But I believe in Louisville more than Virginia. Let's take a quick break, but we'll be right
back on Will Cain Country. I think that some of these playoff teams, while some of it's going to sort
itself out, some of these guys actually are almost secured in the playoffs at this point. Like, I think
Ohio State, Texas A&M, and Indiana are in. I can't see, I mean, that the wheels would have to
totally come off the season. And you could probably count Alabama.
there too. The SEC championship game and who still has to play each other left in the SEC
may knock a Georgia. I doubt it though. I think Georgia's going to be in. May may knock that
what fifth team out of the playoff. Not four. The SEC's going to get four. And so and I'm not
sure Memphis is going to be the group of five in the end. But what you're going to hate it. But what
this means is you're going to see a real debate of a Texas or an Oklahoma sneaking back in. Maybe
Louisville, maybe that's who you'll get to see. I just can't, I can't, I wouldn't put money on
Virginia being the representative of the ACC. Quick question. Would you, would you give up on
Arch if he has one more bad game? No. No, and I feel like I've been real sober about this, but
But after that Vanderbilt game, now you have to, now you're, I almost feel like that changed everything.
Now you see what it can be.
Sure.
Now it's a matter of developing it into something that is on a consistent basis.
So what was it before?
Well, I didn't know.
I had no reason.
Before this, there was nothing that ever validated the hype whatsoever.
You know, a spring game.
There's flashes of last year when you came in.
A year ago. Mississippi State game, a year ago, not this year.
There were flashes, but they didn't come anywhere close to validating the hype.
This game looked like he did things for me that looked like NFL quarterback things.
Like when you climb the pocket and when you stand there and you take a shot that you know is coming
and you still deliver the strike.
And for me, the difference between pro quarterbacks and college quarterbacks is
there's a ton of college quarterbacks that can hit an open receiver.
and you look and the receiver is standing still, right?
He's like not in the middle of a route.
He's done with his route standing there and there's nobody around him.
Or he's running wide open down the field and there's a lot of quarterbacks can hit that.
That just doesn't exist in the NFL.
And so in this game, Arch was throwing balls that, you know when you get the view behind the quarterback
and you can see the play in front of them?
And the one that's always impressive is when a quarterback throws the ball to a spot,
there's no one there yet.
And your guy's not necessarily open.
So you're trusting that it's going to be exactly as it's supposed to be,
and the ball arrives as the receiver is getting open.
That is what I saw Arch doing.
And that's what you see from NFL quarterbacks.
Now, I don't know.
Vanderbilt's defense is not great.
So once you see Georgia, that's their next test,
it may look totally different.
And I suspect that it will look different.
But we finally have a college football playoff ranking.
and I love so far that the four teams to get the buy,
I think are clearly the four best teams in the country.
We'll see if they will at the end.
But that feels right to me.
And that is a product of the new seating system, right?
You're not going to slip in a conference champion
that doesn't deserve to be there in the buy.
These are the four best teams in the country,
and they should be the four top teams in the playoff.
I have a question for you real quick.
Do you believe in, like, the reigning champion should stay at one until they're knocked out, until they lose a game or two?
Or should we go straight by resume?
Straight by resume.
Straight by resume.
So should the Indiana hop them?
Straight.
That question, and I get where you're asking that, Patrick.
So you're suggesting that Ohio State's reputation in defending national champion status is what's placing them at the top more than what they've done.
this year. And that's not appropriate. However, there is also projection. And that's impossible.
This is where I don't get mad. Like, I can't remember who is the champion of this argument.
It's not Herb Street. Maybe Danny Connell is the king of this argument. But we all do it.
And for people to pretend like we don't, we look at resumes, we have our own opinions in there.
We look at the players, when I say resumes, we look at depth charts, we look at who we think is a good player.
And I think that's what Ohio State is benefiting from more than what they did a year ago.
And so when somebody says Ohio State is one, and Indiana is two, I don't think that's because Ohio State won the championship last year.
I think it's because they look at how many five stars and how much talent is on the roster and so forth.
And you still got to play the game on the field.
But that's what the – and there's another one.
brand
brand plays a role
and we can belly ache about it
but it just does
and Indiana's brand is nothing
in football compared to Ohio State
no I've been I've been having this debate
with myself like
should we go with like the boxing rules
where you stay one unless you get knocked off
the perch and it's like I kind of like
that idea but I also think
that maybe we should rethink it
I mean Indiana has the better win
They beat Oregon.
I think Oregon's a little bit better than Texas.
And they both beat Illinois.
The thing about brand and benefit of the doubt is you earn it over time.
And you could argue that's even a good thing.
Like, you know, Clemson built that brand up over a decade to the point where they got the benefit of the doubt.
And they got the preseason ranking.
And for example, SMU hasn't.
And so they've got, but now SMU's got two or three seasons where they're building it on itself over and over, and they'll get that residue, that residual brand credibility, should they continue it.
And I think there's something to that, you know, I think there's something value about saying, well, this program consistently manages to win, consistently manages to stay up top.
So we're going to presume they will be until they're not.
and you could look back on it and go
wow you know Clemson should have never
been number two at the beginning of the season
but
you know
if you went back in time and did it all over again
and don't know what this season is going to be
they're going to get that and they should have gotten it
based upon their resume based upon
when I say resume I keep meaning
based upon their roster and talent
and and what they did
last season
yeah
and and you know who's going to get to be a bit
especially if they keep
their coach? All-Miss is going to be on the rise on that hugely. Man in the visor that seems to be
the guy you're honoring today, 10 full Pat wearing a visor. I never. Here on Wilcane Country.
No Lane Kiff or Steve Spurrier. Viser Pat. I just have great hair. We'll be right back on
Wilcane Country. Story number two. Who has the best celebrity fans? This is a, I think,
launching point off of a debate or an insult that I launched Tinfoil Pat's Way a little bit
earlier this week with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
That's right.
I believe that, you know, what is it?
Is it, it's a Protestant saying?
You guys are both Catholics, I think, but wherever two or more are gathered is a, is a,
a worship service is enough for worship.
Is that three's company joke?
No, it's like, whatever, the pastor this weekend made the joke, and he,
He goes, and now that I'm in Texas, I realize, wherever there's two or three trees gathered, you've got a forest.
But, you know, I made the joke that whenever there's two or three Jaguars fans gathered, you've got a quorum.
That's almost all the Jaguars fans.
And Pat didn't like that.
So he has put this together, like the celebrity Jags fans.
You put your Jags in here, right?
Here they are.
Bill Murray, Paul McCartney, based upon the fact that he once wore a jazz.
It counts. It counts. It counts. I give it to him. And, and by the way, now, really, really, so it went from, I want you to see how your list goes downhill fast. Okay, this next one. Fast. Bill Murray. Ooh, okay, nice. Paul McCartney, who once wore a Jags hat. Okay. Grayson Allen.
Oh, your next one's Grayson Allen. And then Fred Durst, limp biscuit.
Hell yeah
I mean that makes sense
He seems like a Florida guy
He's from Jacksonville
So of course
I'm sure the guys from Leonard Skinner also
But you know
Most of them died in the plane accident
We didn't really get the
Yeah
They didn't see the Jaguars
But Paul McCartney played our Super Bowl too
So he definitely has to be a Jack
No
Our Super Bowl
Super Bowl 39
Do you remember
You have you surveyed
The London-based Jags fans
That's where you can gather
Some celebrity
credibility.
That's right.
What about Ed Sheeran?
I bet he's a Jax fan.
Yeah.
Jason Statham.
Sure.
Guy Ritchie.
You need to check in on these guys, see if they're Jags fans.
Might be the missing link.
Ed Jaron's a Titans fan.
Oh, you just found that out real quick.
Yeah.
He's dead to me.
Who's in the running?
Well, Packers.
Lil Wayne, Harry Styles,
yeah, maybe.
Justin Timberl
Let's go.
Jody Foster?
Simone Biles.
She's dating a Packer, isn't she?
Or married to one?
Who?
Jody Foster?
Yeah.
That would be great on a lot of levels.
Not just the fact that Jody likes ladies,
but what is Jody Foster now?
60-something?
How awesome was she was,
let's just say she was dating Tucker Craft,
tight-end, Green Bay Packers.
She was with Jonathan Owens.
He's now on the Bears.
was with the Packers.
Simone Biles?
Yeah.
Little Wayne was a surprising one for a Packers fan.
You're talking about Simone Biles, right?
Yes.
What was that guy?
Who was his name that she was dating?
Jonathan Owen.
She's married to...
I don't know him.
What position does he play?
He is a safety for the Chicago Bears.
Safety.
Jonathan Owens.
They would have small kids.
I just saw an Instagram post.
I don't know if it's true, but I saw it on Instagram,
that children get most of their athleticism from their mother.
Fascinating.
Isn't that interesting?
Good thing my wife was a D1 track athlete.
She was?
Yeah.
She ran a buck now.
Nice.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So that's good.
I'm going to go home and tell my boys about this.
Choose wisely, boys.
Yeah, that's right.
Smart.
I didn't know that until now, so I got a picture.
I don't know if it's true, but I saw it in Instagram.
Chiefs.
Now, I was first dismissive when you wrote this because I'm like, okay, here come the bandwagon.
Yeah, everyone.
Here come the bandwagoners.
But no, this is a good list.
Taylor Swift, of course.
Paul Rudd, Brad Pitt,
both of whom, I know,
aren't they from Missouri?
So credibility to both of them.
Exactly.
And Jason Sudecis.
Is he from Missouri,
or has he a Chiefs fan?
I believe so.
I think if I remember,
Ted Lassow is kind of based,
like his origin story is Kansas City.
It's based on Harbaugh.
All right.
Ted Lassow.
Oh, okay, yeah.
I got to give the Chiefs a lot of credit there.
Those seem like people
that would have been fans regardless,
except for Taylor Swift.
Missing a huge Chiefs fan, by the way.
The biggest one.
Steve Ducey.
No.
Who?
Eric Stone Street from Modern Family.
Oh, yeah.
He's like the biggest Chiefs fan of all time.
He seems like a Missouri guy.
He's from Kansas City, yeah.
Yeah.
Jets also seem legit, by the way.
Jets fans, and by the way, you would be legit.
Like, who's a bandwagon Jets fan?
Right?
Adam Sandler, Larry David,
Kevin James,
Chris Rock, John Bon Jovi.
I actually love that list.
And I love a Jets fan.
You know, you guys know, Dan will know this, Patrick.
You know the reputation.
Like, giants are Manhattan and Jets are Outer Boroughs.
Queens, Staten Island.
Bronx, Staten Island, New Jersey.
Yep.
That's, although New Jersey is probably divided.
And so when I think of, because he was in King of Queens, when I think of Outer Burrows, I think of Kevin James.
Like, Kevin James is a great fan to have of the Jets.
He should be their mascot.
That list is basically just a Sandler movie cast anyways.
Yeah, pretty much.
Cowboys, Selena Gomez, George W. Bush,
Jamie Fox, LeBron James.
And I think I'm not on here.
You didn't put me.
Oh, I'm sorry.
We were talking about famous people.
Oh, I got to get to.
There's got to be more, by the way.
There's got to be more, by the way.
fans. There has to be.
And it's pretty bandwagony. Now, Jamie Fox
is from Terrell, Texas, so he's got, he's
legit. I don't, LeBron
I guarantee you LeBron was a bandwagon guy.
Yeah. Post Malone is definitely
a huge cowboy fan. Oh, Post Malone's a big Cowboys fan.
His dad worked for the Cowboys.
He's legit. Stone Cold Steve
Austin. Hell yeah.
Post Malone should have been on here.
You know, there's a
raising canes in Dallas
that is a post Malone-themed
raising canes. That's sick. I saw that.
And it's all blue and silver.
Everything is Dallas Cowboysed Out in the Raising Cains.
Pretty good list for the Cowboys if you take out LeBron James.
But I think, by the way, I don't like this Raiders.
Here's Raiders.
These are bandwagoners too, right?
Ice Cube, Snoop Dog, Guy Fieri, Tom Hanks.
Ice Cube's OG.
It's all L.A.
He wore Raiders gear.
As Ice Cube, okay, I'll give you Ice Cube.
You think he's been legit dedicated day one.
Yeah.
It started off the gear, but I think, but he made that gear cool in popular culture.
Yes.
He made that team cool to wear their stuff.
But Snoop, I don't give Snoop Raiders.
He can't.
He's a Steelers fan.
Yeah.
He's got like three or four fandoms.
Well, that might be true.
But he grew up, I mean, I think it was all during that L.A. stint for the Raiders.
And then people just kind of stuck with them.
But, yeah.
Is Guy Fioria, a Las Vegas thing?
He's like a new one?
Yeah, probably.
I don't, no, no, no.
I think he's L.A.
And in Vegas.
I think he just loves the Raiders.
All right.
Then finally,
and I think this is probably the winner, okay?
The New England Patriots.
Whites of all time.
Because they're all quintessentially Boston, right?
The whitest dude do now.
Ben Affleck, Matt Damon,
John Krasinski,
Chris Evans,
Mark Wahlberg.
I mean,
these dudes...
It's the cast of the departed.
It's the cast of the departed.
That's right.
Was Krasinski in The Departed?
No.
No. No.
He should have been.
Nor was Captain America, but that's okay.
Captain American is Uber Lib.
I don't even want to talk about him.
He once went after me when I was on first take.
Really?
Yeah.
What do you say?
I can't remember what it was over.
We got to find the clip.
We should come up with my Mount Rushmore of celebrities that came out have come after me.
Most of it's from first take.
I can tell you right now it includes Snoop Dog, Martina Navratilova and Chris Evans.
Interesting.
All about the same topic, I'm assuming.
Probably.
It wasn't about the Cowboys.
Let's put it that way.
It's about something that's coming up, kind of.
So that's a great mount at Rushmore.
I'm going to give it to the New England Patriots
for the most quintessentially the best celebrity fans,
the ones that would have been fans,
even if they were never famous and if the team never won.
That's the best celebrity fan base.
Let's take a quick break, but we'll be right back on Will Cain Country.
Speaking of the New York Jets, fire sale.
in New York.
Story number three.
The New York Jets at the trading deadline traded Sauce Gardner to the Indianapolis Colts for two
first round picks and last year's third round wide receiver from the University of Texas,
A.D. Mitchell.
Shortly after the Jets trade, defensive tackle, Quinn and Williams from the University of
Alabama drafted three or four years ago, to the Dallas Cowboys for a first round pick,
a second round pick, and former first round pick, Mazzie Smith.
Now, here's my reaction, fellas.
These are my first thoughts.
When I saw the Soss Gardner trade, I immediately thought, wow,
a Cowboys didn't get enough for Michael Parsons.
That's immediately what I thought.
For the Jets to trade Soss Gardner for 2-1s and A.D. Mitchell,
who that's a pretty dang good receiver.
But then I got to thinking about it, and it's basically the same trade.
The Cowboys from Micah got two ones and Kenny Clark,
who's a Pro Bowl, you know, a couple-time Pro Bowl, yes, in his early 30s,
good defensive tackle for the Cowboys.
Is Micah more valuable than Sauce Gardner?
Probably, yes.
You're talking about a top three pass record.
and then with Sauce, you're talking about a top 10 cornerback, but not a top three guy,
like towards the back end, 7-8-9 type cornerback in the league.
So my first thought was, man, I wish the Cowboys would have gotten a lot more.
And I think the Colts paid a lot for Sauce Gardner, a lot.
I mean, they're trying to make the Super Bowl.
Have you guys seen the memes about Daniel Jones?
What?
I don't know if y'all follow ghetto gronk, but I love ghetto gronk.
He, Daniel Jones, realizing that they're going all in on him as a franchise quarterback, you know, eyes, just hugest saucers.
Wait, they care about me here?
I don't know.
I think they think that sauce could be a top three corner, though.
I mean, like, the NFL NFL Network has him ranked in the top four.
They're rare.
I mean, I think that even though he's down, he doesn't have the picks this.
year, I think that they're banking on him
rebounding with a change of scenery.
By the way, I think a change of scenery,
I say by the way a lot,
I think a change of scenery
is
has the potential
whenever I'm looking at these trades, I'm always looking for
guys who are in bad situations
who are objectively good players, that
all of a sudden the value comes when you realize
you see them in a different environment and they become
and I think the Jets are just that
kind of environment. Like,
And I think the dolphins are that kind of environment.
Like, you could go get, I'm not saying Jalen Phillips to the Eagles is going to be this,
but there was talk that Bradley Chubb could be on the market,
that Minka Fitzpatrick could be on the market.
And if you're in a bad culture environment where everything is infused with losing,
it's hard to stay at the top of your game.
All of a sudden you go to another environment and you're winning,
Colts have two losses, and all of a sudden you're backed, like, inspired play.
And I think that could really happen.
I do think that could happen with Soss Gardner,
who wasn't having a good season.
And not that the Cowboys are this winning environment,
but that's also my hope for Quinn and Williams.
Quinn and Williams has been a dominant defensive tackle in the NFL.
He's not right now.
He hasn't been this season.
But it's like what's a glass of water worth to a man in the desert?
A lot more than not any of us sitting right here in a studio.
And for years, the Cowboys have been pretty bad at defensive tackle.
And it's been the reason they haven't had a good defense.
Their whole defense is bad right now, so it's a little bit like plug in a hole in a cracking dam.
But Aaron Donald opened everybody's eyes, I think, in a way about what a defensive tackle could mean
and how they could be as valuable as an edge rusher.
And I don't think Quinn Williams is Aaron Donald, but I think he could be in the range
I mean, that's hard to say.
Prime Aaron Donald was not just the number one defensive tackle.
He was the number one defensive lineman in the league.
But Quinn and Williams could be a top five defensive tackle.
And is that worth a first and a second?
I think so.
But the Cowboys trade is getting totally panned by ESPN and everybody's saying they're getting Fs for this trade.
Mazzie Smith is a throwaway?
Who cares?
So is Quinn and Williams worth a first and a second?
And everybody's saying, well, this is what they traded away Micah Parsons and a second round pick.
And they got back, Quinn and Williams, I can do this.
Quentin Williams, I'm missing somebody, and a first round.
Oh, Kenny Clark.
Quinn and Williams, Kenny Clark, and a first round pick.
So is that worth it?
And you'd probably said, no, you'd rather have Micah.
You'd probably rather have the Micah package, but I don't think the difference is an F.
I think it's a marginal difference, and it fits what the Cowboys' needs are.
They need to stop the run.
They need a defensive tackle.
And now they've got Kenny Clark and Quinnon Williams right there at defensive tackle.
And I like it.
I like it for the Cowboys.
You know who's a guy I'm surprised as he'd go in the trade deadline?
A.J. Brown.
I thought someone would go after him.
Because he's unhappy?
He's not playing well.
He's not happy.
There's talk of him going to the Steelers,
side by side with D.K. Metcalfe under Aaron Rogers.
I just think it would have been a great opportunity for someone to grab him.
But the Eagles are not in that mode, man.
I know.
Nobody gives less Fs than the Philadelphia Eagles.
They all in all the time.
He's a stud, and he's doing nothing on that team.
It's wild.
So the playoffs come around, and then he's catching two bombs of...
Yeah, good point.
Game.
Why would the chiefs not give a third round pick for Brees Hall?
New York Jets running back?
Interesting.
You know, that's what they need.
They need a running game.
They believe in their system.
They think they can just plug and play anybody in there.
They'll just go on the scrap heap and plug somebody in and, you know, hope it works out.
Well, as a fantasy manager, I can tell you, Isaac Bacheco has not been great.
Kareem Hunt is old and okay.
Maybe they think the young guy from SMU, Breschard,
Smith is going to be good at some point, but he hasn't been yet.
It just seems like Brees Hall would have been really valuable to the Kansas City Chiefs.
They're also thrown in Rishie Rice and they're in run packages.
They are.
Yes, I've noticed that.
Very disappointingly noticed that when you have Kareem Hunt hoping you get a touchdown.
My fantasy team is awful, and I feel like I've really tried.
This is not one of those years where I've mailed it in.
I feel like I've really tried.
And I see comfortably smug talking trash on the thing, and I haven't responded.
I know.
But I'm really trying
That's the embarrassing part
So am I and it's bad
I feel so dumb
It was not a good week for Dan last week
Timfoil Pat just trounce me
I even look at my team
I don't know how you feel Dan
And I'll look at it on paper
And I'm like
This is great
Yeah we should be good this week
My bench is stacked
And we're not
Yeah I'm like
I don't even know who to put in
And start
But alas I still lose
When's a trade deadline
I need to make trades
I think I have like 10 running back
Put some people up for bid
Well, that's one of my weaknesses, so go ahead.
Let's do a deal, tinfoil, like the Cowboys and the Jets.
Let's do a deal.
That's the thing.
Everyone always talks about it, but it never goes through.
No one could agree.
I know what I got, all right?
The trade that might be the most valuable and interesting, at least for fantasy purposes,
and I think for real football, is New Orleans Saints wide receiver, Raheed, to the Seattle Seahawks.
I've had that guy on my fantasy team several years.
and he's one of those guys that kind of sits there on waivers.
Do you pick them up?
Do you don't?
And nobody ever really commits to him because you know what he does every week?
Score about 12 to 15 points.
And that's never going to get all your attention.
But are you on your phone right now picking him up, Patrick?
And you are doing it right now.
But you could use that guy in your lineup.
You could use that 12 points in your lineup every week.
It's a good whole feeling.
like I've got Rom A dunze
and he got me a big fat zero
and I watched it I'm like
is he not on the field no he was on the field
and he's the number one receiver for the bear
Patrick what's up with your dude
Brian Thomas killing me
Dan I have him in another league
and he's killing me
What is happening? He was one of the best receivers
the past two years what's happening? He's got the yips man
he like went over the middle one
one play in the preseason I went high on him
in the draft high
that's a bad idea telling you
never take Jaguar
players.
I took Trevor Lawrence once, I'll never do it again.
I'm telling it's, it's bad.
Never take Jaguar players, but they're always getting
jubed. The refs are against them. They got a huge
celebrity fan base.
And everybody underestimates
them, but never take Jags players.
They'll never make the Super Bowl. No one else is allowed to be
down on Patrick's teams. He's down enough.
That's how it is. Like, he's got
that covered. He doesn't need you
to help him.
It's just like your slander of Jacksonville
in general. Like, you know,
You come in here, you go, oh, Jacksonville's the pawn shop of America.
That really stuck in your mouth.
I'm like, yeah.
Yeah, it really hurts.
You're still picking that one out of your teeth.
Is that because it was so spot on?
Well, I'm curious why that one bothered you so much, because I nailed it.
You nailed it.
I hate Jacksonville.
I hate being here.
But if somebody attacks it, I have to defend it.
But if I just said Jacksonville and some random insult, it wouldn't have bothered you so much.
But I called it America's pawn shop.
And that was like, damn.
Damn it. That's exactly right.
I mean, what an apropos naming.
You guys should print the t-shirts.
I think it's so insultingly accurate that you should own it.
Yeah.
I will. I'll get on that right now.
That's hilarious.
Did you hear that somewhere, or did you come up with that on your own?
I don't know.
That's pretty good.
I don't know.
We need to do one for each city.
Yes, we do.
We need to do one for where are you from, Milford?
Me?
Yeah.
New Haven, Connecticut, where Yale is.
New Haven.
Yeah.
Pistol waving.
Pistol waving.
What's a chicken fried steak?
Yeah.
New Haven, we do pizza.
We're the pizza capital of the country, so.
We need to come up with the perfect insult for New Haven and the perfect insult for Dallas.
Okay.
Dallas will be easy.
I mean, New York City.
You got to nail it.
You got to nail it.
That's the problem.
You can't just randomly insult them, and you can't over-stereotype it.
You got to nail it.
Like, New Haven, let's just go through it real quick.
New Haven is, it's Yale, right?
Yale, pizza.
Gumba?
Italians, yep.
But also rough.
I've heard, like, New Haven's actually rough.
We were, like, top 10 of murders per capita in the country at one point.
It's such counterintuitive when you think of Yale.
Yeah.
They have their own police force, and outside that, no go.
How big is New Haven?
I think I need to know that.
that too, like population-wise.
Let's see.
New Haven population is
137,500.
Hmm.
Not a suburb of New York.
Used to be the capital of Connecticut.
Was before Harvard.
I'll think about it.
What is New Haven?
What's the perfect insult for New Haven?
I'm sure the listeners can help us out as well.
I want to be New York City.
What's the perfect insult for Dallas?
as well.
I mean, it's easy.
You just got to...
The thing is about Dallas,
like, if I start going down
like Botox World or, you know...
I watch Real Housewives of Dallas.
But that's not unique enough to Dallas.
That could be L.A.,
that could be Miami.
You know what I mean?
So you got to figure out
what's totally...
Aren't you guys known for, like,
your chain restaurants?
The fact you guys don't have anything...
There were a lot the first time I went there,
I noticed that.
Chain restaurants?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Really?
Downtown's empty.
That's a...
You know.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Home of the Will Kane Show Studios, downtown Dallas.
That's about it down there.
Home of the most active and competitive bumper pool game in, I would say, in United States of America.
If there is a more competitive, consistent bumper pool game in America, I want to know it.
Actually, I want to know that.
Where is the bumper pool capital of America?
What's the bar?
What's the town?
Is there a bumper pool league?
And I want to watch it on YouTube
because I want to see how good these guys actually get.
How far away are me, Herman, and Ed from professional bumper pool?
And what do you make in professional bumper pool?
All that in a future episode of Will Kane Country.
