Starting point is 00:00:00 Calculating route to avoid seeing poverty. Turn left to bypass the unhoused youth sleeping on the street. Then keep right to skip by the lines of people waiting for food. Steer clear of the crowded shelter turning people away. Then take the next exit. Let's stop looking away and get in the way of rising poverty. Your donations help the United Way fight poverty in thousands of ways, like providing food, shelter and crisis prevention.
Starting point is 00:00:27 Donate today at UnitedWayGT.org. What does a sunny getaway with Air Canada sound like? Sunny Jamaica moves to its own rhythm. Rio comes alive long after the sun goes down. Philippines slows everything down. And just when you think you've heard it all, there's sunny Lima. However you imagine your sunny escape,
Starting point is 00:00:53 Air Canada can take you there. Book hot fares and vacation packages today. Nice travels. Play date. Episode 189. Is that right? No. That feels like a lot.
Starting point is 00:01:11 You know what episode we actually are? 169? 167. Yep. It's the only thing Andrew cares about. He doesn't even care about his family. He didn't go home for Thanksgiving because he was doing brain wrong. He was so wrapped up in 6-7 that he forgot to go home.
Starting point is 00:01:30 He couldn't figure it out. He just kept saying, I can't figure it out. Andrew missed his flight home because he walked past gate 6-7 and got trapped. We are running the drink gauntlet right now. The jauntlet. I like you have a sparkling water and a still water. Yeah. in case i just want to have my all my bases well and i think that's smart you don't want to
Starting point is 00:01:55 you know leave anything up to chance yeah i was just sitting here like oh i because usually when we did cold cases last night usually when i go home i'm like i wake up and like facetimed a bunch of people and i was like oh i got off scott free nope opened up instagram posted in a dump oh yeah i thought it was fun though wait you was like drunk yeah you didn't remember i remember it now but i'm like oh okay yeah you just gotta eat it it was cute i was in like a lot of it which was kind of yeah it was just kind of all uh it's just us on catalina with caleb i guess in in they we were the only ones there yeah that's a good point this episode is brought to you by cash app cash app put my money in a safe cash yeah we
Starting point is 00:02:48 we used to one of my best friends from college is named catalia okay i like that a lot yeah and uh is that a boy's name or girl's name girl's name nice and we always said we were gonna do the catalia wine mixer as like a party yeah and we i don't think we ever did it or they did it without me but i don't think it ever happened you're it seems like the part is that you were going to all have like very like clever names oh we kind of just mail we were like toga party no we were like the wilmot state exactly yeah the kath is my lawyer party was when our our friend kath got into law school and so we all she dressed as a lawyer and we all dressed as famous criminals that's phenomenal and then we got that's hilarious wait that's like a brilliant
Starting point is 00:03:39 an idea yeah it was really thoughtful too like if i like was like going to law school i would be like my friends did that for me i'd be like this is i'm i'm in the right crew i think she's like actually a lawyer now too i think that's what happens right like i think i think i think she like just did it or something oh oh oh oh i thought you meant like we all thought she was gonna fail no no no but uh how many years is law school three three i think right yeah but i was gonna say i actually i don't know why i reacted though that seems like the right amount i was like oh man that sounds brutal probably i wouldn't want it i wouldn't want my lawyer going to less almost feels light depending on what i'm in for
Starting point is 00:04:18 you only studied this for three years it's like i want to i want a lawyer who did it for six it's just like a double guy we need double lawyers anyone do it twice there's one guy in the back who's like clearly the dumbest lawyer there yeah his shirt's all like wrinkled i did it for a guy went to undergrad for six years like oh my god it must be a genius oh my god you think thinking the more years you spend at college the smarter you are hey you never know maybe there's something to it yeah i was gonna say when we did the cath is my lawyer party we um got like in trouble we got or not in trouble but we took social backlash so i think i mentioned this we had like our own yik yak basically called herd that was oh for bc i think about like your friends
Starting point is 00:05:11 no no no it was like will's being a dick today it was like developed i was like it's like six months who said it it was like developed by bc students so it was like hyper specific to bc but it was very popular and uh yeah there was a bunch of people posting like can't believe like that party that they threw in mod 7a like my as like someone who knows has family members in prison how dare they and it was like someone was dressed like oj simpson and like like it wasn't like as someone whose father is al capone yeah it's extremely i guess i could see who is someone is the tinder swindler what's the tinder swindler it's like a netflix documentary i heard about that yeah it was like every girl actually that might have just been halloween my buddy amal was the
Starting point is 00:06:00 tinder swindler but what does that look like in practice i think it was just he the tinder swindler was like an indian dude so i think he kind of looked like him already oh the tinder swindler is a guy yeah look at his picture i was picturing a woman oh no i do know that yeah wait what what was his like it was like kind of like uh um he would take their money or something it was kind of like the salt burn right like he was like he got in with the rich people somehow i haven't seen salt burn salt burn is crazy that is a great movie you haven't seen it no it's a great holiday movie it is technically a holiday movie i want to watch the holdovers i've seen it but i want to watch it again that sounds like a uh like a working man's uh
Starting point is 00:06:48 departed from what i've heard it is nothing like the departed what is holdovers it's like i mean That's a Christmas movie. What about it? It takes place in Massachusetts. It's like The Breakfast Club. He said it's like The Departed. I don't know. The Holdovers is like The Breakfast Club.
Starting point is 00:07:05 You don't know what The Departed is? No, it's The Departed. Are we getting Departed? I've only seen it once. Yeah, but that's like best picture. I feel like that's like one of the most iconic movies of all time. I was watching it with my friend Marshall, and we were just like, this doesn't make any sense.
Starting point is 00:07:23 The Departed? We were hammered. It was just a hard one to follow. I was not a fan. Jack Nicholson, Mark Wahlberg, Matt Damon. Yeah, sometimes it's too much of a good thing. Leo DiCaprio. I like my movie to have one star.
Starting point is 00:07:40 I don't like this whole super group thing. Yeah. Actually, they're a super group. Actually. Do you think these guys are aspiring musicians? Actually, they're a super group. It was, like, the most, like, it was, like, I felt bad for her. I was, like, oh, man, I'm really bummed you did that.
Starting point is 00:07:58 Sweetie. When I was going back and re-watching that in the edit, I was thinking about, like, did she think you guys just bought tickets to some random show? Yeah. On top of that, why would you think that the people who are, like, successfully, like, performing and making money are aspiring musicians? Exactly. I mean, I think it was just, like, she was so eager to pounce on, like, knowing. like and you know what i should have held up is my number 138 mj lenderman fan card do you have just right in her face yeah well that was on my spotify rap didn't i tell you that
Starting point is 00:08:33 you were the 138 in the world how do i see that it's only if i think only if you make it like in the top 500 they tell you like for one but skylar fulton was 48 which is insane so you and i think i may have already said this you like i think genuinely like him i think skylar does it like performatively i mean he listened to 11 000 something minutes of his music so i feel like you would be shocked the lengths skylar would go to you think skylar doesn't like mj lunderman i think he does 48 global i think he does now but i think if i if if we called him and i was like hey let's have a hard time like you did you did this performatively he would be like yeah i did do that who would he be performing for like the world willie honestly i think he values willie's
Starting point is 00:09:25 opinion a lot really and i think yeah i think he knows willie likes him i don't know i think i'm overthinking this i think he knew i think he knew about them before yeah he knew about him before i did because we like i don't what i'm saying doesn't make any sense that's okay he had seen mj lenderman like a couple times before we went too is what he told you've gone yeah oh yeah you went yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah um we went i went with skylar or not we both went to the same show when he was here in like february so this year i have to pick i should pick uh i should pick like a an artist with a smaller fan base to be my number one so that i can have a chance i was pretty well what was funny is i woke up to my brother texting me he's like
Starting point is 00:10:08 this is insane and it was that he was like number 430 or something oh sam likes him too yeah sam showed him to me gotcha and so my brother sent me that and i was like i was like oh i fuck i better have a beat i was like this is fun now yeah and then i thought i'd want and i was looking on the reddit and i was like i was the highest one i had seen nice kind of you know anyone like will what do you mean like you posted it on the reddit no i didn't post it oh i was just scrolling on the subreddit just to see because other people were posting right it was like there was like a thread about it and uh but then skylar fulton out of left field drops a 48 on me 48 48 so you could fit the amount of people in front of you like in your house i mean i could
Starting point is 00:10:52 probably fit 137 people in my it would be half full i couldn't i mean do you think i could fit 137 people in my house yeah yeah you could but it would be like shoulder to shoulder yeah i don't think it would be shoulder to shoulder a lot of people are grinding on each other yeah yeah a lot of front to front already the case yeah what's new we just call that like a wednesday i just called it what's the statistic like a wednesday like you could fit everyone in the world in like a county in texas or something that can't be true it's probably like how and And the spider from School of Rock would be your DA. Yeah, shoulder to shoulder.
Starting point is 00:11:35 Potentially the size of a large country like Texas. What? It used to be a country, I think. 400 square miles is like pretty small. A large city or small island. Isn't that kind of crazy? Yeah, no, you could, yeah. With arms span the size of Hawaii's Big Island or small U.S. state like Rhode Island.
Starting point is 00:11:57 Wait, that doesn't make any... Why is shoulder to shoulder, like, small? Whatever. Well, that's like if they have their arms out. If everyone's doing the T-pose. Dude, Flan's number one song was a song that I showed her, which made me feel good. What was it?
Starting point is 00:12:13 F-T-S-G by Emma Anderson. Oh. I like Emma Anderson a lot. Oh, yeah. She's like... I think she's like a child. She's from... She's like from Nashville.
Starting point is 00:12:26 and she makes very good music a lot of people i think she's like 18 or 19 i'm having i have i'm i have a small like crisis about seeing that chachi bt has like uh feelings when it was like holy shit like fuck yeah i was using it to like add up a budget for me and it like double counted one of my like costs yeah and i pointed out to them and they like denied it denied it denied it and then finally they were like oh no you're right i did double count that and i was like this is just like that's so far from being reliable yeah i don't it i i don't like that's a basic math mistake like i don't trust it yeah it's there's been enough things like i take yeah yeah i need my i need my data to be accurate for my data i'm saying sets
Starting point is 00:13:19 exactly and i've always said that i i think i might go back to like hard copy knowledge like i only get my stuff from books primary sources primary sources i was uh working this morning on cold cases i like this morning yeah i got up at like 6 30 or something and i went to bed at like two oh my lord but that's just it this is a funny thing about my job is like 90 percent 95 percent of the time i'd say very easy very chill but i don't take it home you know yeah and then when we shoot cold cases it's just like two days of hell because you're like doing research yeah i mean it's part of it's mostly my own fault just for procrastinating quite honestly but yeah i just find that like i feel like in college like i would
Starting point is 00:14:08 always like procrastinate so much and like only get shit done when it was like the hard deadline was right in front of me and i kind of found like in my professional life like i just am more effective like i would rather just wait and then let the adrenaline just grind it out right before it's due then waste more time i would spend more time on doing it for the same quality of work if i started ahead of time does that make sense yes 100 because i think like i just work better up against the deadline so i just wait and then i just i'd rather just have like two days that suck then have to worry about this all last week and the week before also we had a bunch of shit last week and like yeah it's just if you wait till the last minute it only takes a minute yeah exactly
Starting point is 00:14:48 that's yeah what was that what's the saying it's like uh um necessity breeds ingenuity confidence or something where it's like if you have to do something you'll just you'll get it done yeah um what was i gonna tell you oh yeah this is cold case the two days that we do cold cases are like the worst part of both of our jobs but like completely different yeah yes yeah oh man it's fun i like it i don't have time during the work day to do that kind of stuff it's just like yesterday we shot we shoot them back to back so it's like yesterday was getting prepped for that shoot all day and then shooting it yeah but after this record you can't do the stuff you did this morning i i still have to do it yeah more i still have to do it more
Starting point is 00:15:37 Because then there's prep, and then we, like, have to do, like, a run-through of it, and then get everything said. I mean, we were here until 9.30 last night or something, shooting. And you don't drink, right? No. But I just, like, stayed at the office, and then, yeah. But, yeah, I mean, it was fun. It was fun.
Starting point is 00:15:57 I also, like, I was, like, in Las Vegas partying it up this weekend. Like, it was my own doing. I don't think you should be working on the weekend. working on a weekend like usual that might be like if there's a sentence that you've said the most this year oh my my sentence is wrapped yeah what do you think what do you think we've said the most that that's up there for you it must be rome i say that a lot of money no you don't i've never heard you say that once no you don't do you actually think you say that a lot
Starting point is 00:16:40 what even is that it must be rome it's from a survivor no it's like a it's like an ai as soon as i get an ad i get served all the time oh for like rise of kingdoms oh yeah it must be rome i mean god bless that's fine with me that is really funny to think think you know something about yourself and then someone else is just like you don't do that you've never you've never said that you just thought of that it's been i've been saying all in my head if that counts in my head hey andrew can you give us a can you do a right just like a playdate wrapped a playdate wrapped for us like uh we're off the dome right now oh like the amount of like i don't know the most sentences you've ever said just anything any stats from the year uh you can make them all up
Starting point is 00:17:43 too well i was only here for about two months of it so has it only been two months yeah i mean i started in like september well i guess i started filling in in like august yeah it was august it was august when did lauren leave officially started july end of july feels like forever guy who guy who had a sleepover with lauren last night it feels like forever no i was working last night i'm working bitch i'm working whoa no that's a song isn't it i'm working late because i'm missing no there's a song it's like that doesn't really make sense what like late night work does a singer have like concerts oh i thought it was like like she was saying like she's like there was some like clerical work that needed to be done uh she left the last week of
Starting point is 00:18:34 july she that's so so who was filling in you yeah from july on yeah that's why so it's feel it's felt like did anyone else fill in or was it just andrew it was just me andrew nelson yeah huh and honestly i'll say it i'm starting to get the hots for him too did you imagine there's like no one or like no one wants to take the job because you just like end up dating will all right maybe people sorry that made it seem like everyone wants to know but it's like lining up like they're like uh they're like sean we need you to fill in for play date and he's like no no no uh it must be rome when i started were you like oh and you're so beautiful and rusty was like i know yeah it was insane i was yeah i was like he was like i know i know obviously his body's
Starting point is 00:19:29 fucking tea his body yeah man i clocked your tea his body's nuts clock it oh my god ty sent me this video today of a rather a nuts body than a body full of nuts come on oh that was cool oh so nasty like completely misinterpreting yeah like oh your friend your friend pictures it like you're like a jazz guy like it must be rome i bought a i bought a new powerball ticket really i guess they're all new when you buy them but i bought i'm ready to get hurt again i don't think this is a good use of your money but i guess it's two dollars yeah you're right who cares whatever it's basically free it's bad i mean do you think if you win the powerball i can have it i'm going on record i just want the ball if i win the powerball and it's like hundreds of
Starting point is 00:20:31 millions of hundreds of millions of dollars i will give you guys both like a ludicrous amount of money dub him more than you but i think we went through this one i think it's like 5 10 all right deal that seems fair right because i'm also i'm gonna want to like i'm gonna want to start recording in my house how much you're giving to ali tuttleman i'll also go on record if i win the powerball and ali tuttleman like somehow gets in contact with me i'll give her like 10 million dollars wait you know what i meant to bring up about ali tuttleman what my so like my cousin patrick lives in philly he runs a michelin awarded restaurant whoa they just got like how many stars they just got like uh i don't think it was the stars but it
Starting point is 00:21:12 was like a michelin recognition they like just got it what's the there's like a didn't we eat somewhere that someone told us that we have been eating somewhere maybe separately and someone was like that place is a michelin star here yeah well kobe's has like a michigan recognition michigan it has a michigan recognition so there's a michigan star there's a guy in the back and he's like or no michigan star it's like uh oh yeah it's uh eminem yeah or j i was thinking like jj mccarthy like a michigan star oh okay got it got it yeah fuck sorry what were you saying your cousin runs a michelin recognized restaurant yeah and he knows ali so i'm gonna go to serea if you're in philly okay uh oh yes no he knows ali or he he one day was like wait i think like
Starting point is 00:22:03 my co-worker i forget it was like my co-worker's like friend like sent you guys like a letter that you read on the pod what a small world or something okay and i was like oh no way and he's like yeah her name's ali tuttleman or whatever and then like i just completely forgot about this conversation and so then when i did when we did the spotify rap thing then he texted me and he was like why did you pick ali tuttleman for that and i was like oh my god i didn't even realize that was the same person he's like that is an insane coincidence which we literally just picked it like from a random name on the comments yeah i mean she comments and dms a lot okay so you were like aware yeah yeah when you said it who do you think it'll be next year that's good
Starting point is 00:22:40 good we should do that every 100 it's a great bit i think next year it'll be uh that guy cramble suds is like always yeah he actually sent me nudes in the dm i don't think we should i i asked for them oh is that you crotch shots yeah i got man there was one guy who sent me like like completely naked with something tiny covering his dick what all right man on play date yeah what what's his name where's the yeah what's his account um it was like it was like a joke thing like he was just laying on the couch butt naked and he had like something covering it and i was just like you can't it was just a joke thing it was just a joke dude i'm fucking with you dude fucking relax It was a joke thing.
Starting point is 00:23:32 It was just straight b-hole. Yeah, do not say b-holes, please. How many times have you seen your own butt hole? I know that you bent over in a mirror in a hotel recently and had never seen it before. You've already done this. I don't even remember that story. You told that story a few months ago. What was it?
Starting point is 00:23:54 you bent over in front of a mirror in a hotel room and looked at it and thought wow i have never really seen that kind of like you know when they say like like someone will post a picture of themselves in a puddle and they'll be like this is the only way we were supposed to see ourselves oh i didn't know like if you were you only got to see your butthole like once wait like because mirrors shouldn't exist yeah mirrors are like tech or like the phone i think mirrors have been around like fucking forever yeah but it's still like tech it blasts how the hell does that shit work they like apparently like blast sand until it like reflects when did the first mirror get invented what wait let's guess i would guess closest to the pin gets a dollar okay from
Starting point is 00:24:38 andrew what are we guessing when first mirror was the first mirror invented i'm gonna go i don't even have like a i'm gonna go like 750 oh i'm gonna go like 750 14 62 okay 14 62 in a day okay you're a fucker okay wait was that the year columbus sailed the ocean blue 14 8 92 okay yeah it was definitely before that that's impossible that was like cave 6 000 6 000 6 000 bc is like i guess rusty wins 6 000 bc is like caveman okay it's just polished copper or bronze i guess that makes sense that's bullshit i mean like glass mirror yeah glass mirror glass mirror modern glass it's like so
Starting point is 00:25:45 modern it's like cg that's the issue that cgf wrote it the first modern oh it was a natural glass have you heard about the obsidian mirror in like the in the vatican apparently there's this like mirror i'm being dead serious that did sound like a teat like a yeah you ever heard about the obsidian mirror in the vatican um apparently there's this mirror in like the basement of the vatican that is like guarded constantly because they think it's like evil oh like i got like a priest or somebody like walked in front of it and came out like his eyes were bleeding and he was like he knows my name you know what i think might be evil oh god fucking baseball you think it's an evil baseball is that the mark uh
Starting point is 00:26:38 walberg mark walberg oh my god wait we're oh me and my buddies were i forget what we were joking about uh did i already say this the bill cosby home run ball it's like an episode of pawn stars and they come in he's like wow what are we looking at here bill casby home run ball oh okay uh yeah it's like yeah 2011 celebrity all-star game hit it over the left field wall in t-mobile park oh all right you wait who's the some guy came into pawn stars with like it was some disgraced player on the 2004 socks i can't remember what he did he did something like horrible
Starting point is 00:27:25 and and chumley was like having none of it he was like this is the old literally the only ring that we couldn't take i feel like they'd be like i can't pass up a cosby can you bet can you google like like 2004 red sox uh pawn stars ring i can't remember what this guy did he like he like might have like killed a guy or something it was like bad like even chumley was like yeah brandon puffer i don't remember what he did later legal issues what did he do oh my god he ate he ate he skipped lunch what's his name you eat a guy will he no he just he ate i guess what did brandon puffer do and also like uh arrested after the rough ride for a burglary of a habitation with the intent to commit oh
Starting point is 00:28:22 Bummer 99 years Up to 99 years Bro did that shit two days after my birthday He wasn't thinking of you at all Rude Cosby home run ball What's that selling for
Starting point is 00:28:46 A lot probably I bet you could get a good I think that's a funny thing to be in like like in a show maybe like i got can you get rid of this this is stressing me yeah uh cosby home run ball yeah it's like it's a guy going through like his memorabilia wall yeah yeah yeah you're over you're over for like a dinner party yeah and he's like uh he's like yeah so this is like you know this is a patch from jordan's jersey and they're like oh that's pretty cool and then he's like what's that one he's like cosby home run ball 2011 he hit a nuke
Starting point is 00:29:18 To left field off of Bill Nye. Yeah, he hit an absolute cock shot to left field. No one saw it coming. Yeah. Imagine being the guy that spent like 30 grand on the Bill Cosby home run ball just for all this stuff to come out the next day. Yeah. Fuck!
Starting point is 00:29:34 Worth nothing. I just dropped my life savings on a Cosby. On an original Cosby. Bill Cosby hit an absolute piss missile off Bill Nye, landed right in my mitt. he like shoved a kid for it yeah why did you bring your mitt to a celebrity also you never know my dad caught a puck one time at like a portland pirates game yeah he said it hurt so bad did he keep it yeah it's somewhere probably he just got his second uh they sent him back his like second hole in one ball with like they like frame it and they put it in this like thing with
Starting point is 00:30:14 like a picture of the hole and uh i was looking at it was like that is the most like scuffed ball like he clearly had just like was having a tough day and grabbed like the shittiest ball out of his bag and then that one went in that's kind of awesome it is kind of awesome but it was like like his other one is this like pristine titleist yeah and then this one just has like it's like literally like like borderline unusable it's a range ball it says like practice oh that would be funny you get caught stealing range balls because you have to turn in your oh you're rolling one ball and it's like booth bay practice ball do they frame it in the country club they set what do you mean like the in-house yeah he like give you a he gave the ball to the pro shop and then
Starting point is 00:31:01 i guess yeah they sent it back oh they sent it back to him framed yeah yeah so like they frame they probably have a guy um it has like a nice blurb about like i think it has like the weather that day and like a picture of the hole it's like kind of cool and they just take your word for it that you got a hole in one i mean there you yeah you'd never lie you i don't know anyone that would lie about that but you also have what you think you think you're dead a lot of scum out there oh that would be insane he has never i think i already said this he's never seen it go in yeah his first one i actually think is a cooler trophy it's uh it's the number one with a hole in it and then in the hole is the ball so it's like a hole in one that's fun yeah do you hear that the golfer
Starting point is 00:31:46 had to get a new pair of pants no you got a hole in one and did i ever tell you my uncle got hurt on a golf course no fell off the ball washer willie told me that uh when we were golfing one time and it was the it was the best feeling i've never felt the joy that i've felt hearing that that might be on your uh sentences wrapped that's definitely like the the thing the yeah that probably is like the the sentence i've said the most fell off the ball washer i am going to go pee give him hell in there this episode is brought to you by cash app willie you're always falling for scams what's the weirdest scam you've ever fallen for i once fell for a scam and i nay i've sometimes been reluctant to call it a scam
Starting point is 00:32:42 because i still believe the guy he offered me a quarter pound of an octopus and i didn't even have to see any of the creature or anything he would just give me a quarter pound of the meat insane i know your security deserves to be a priority and cash app treats it that way with security lock cash app requires a successful face id or biometric authentication to access your account it's like your money is protected by your own personal bodyguard even if you accidentally leave your phone unlocked or someone gains access to it without your knowledge plus if you're about to send money to someone and cash app notices something looks a bit off or that you might be falling for a scam it will send you a warning before the money is sent to make you
Starting point is 00:33:20 take a second and confirm that everything looks right turn on security lock in your cash app settings now to keep your account and your new information safer than ever and pay attention to scam warnings if sending money to someone new learn more at cash.app security for a limited time new cash app customers can earn ten dollars if they use code friday 10 in their profile at sign up and send five dollars to a friend within 14 days terms apply cash app is a financial services platform not a bank banking services provided by cash apps bank partner visit cash.app slash legal slash podcast for full disclosures this episode is sponsored by better help the holidays guys they're a time of tradition some people have a lot in their family some have none some are just
Starting point is 00:34:06 beginning their own i think now it's time to reflect on what they mean and and for you to rewrite those traditions and make them your own like perfecting a new hot chocolate recipe with the kids or maybe continuing your great aunt sweet potato pie i actually had a great aunt named sweet potato pie that story for another day yeah uh incorporating therapy into your new or existing traditions can help ensure that you take time for yourself during what can be a very joyful but sometimes hectic and lonely time of year you know in my family one of our traditions is actually going to therapy we all go separately on the same day uh before christmas so there's no big fights i like that a lot guys better help is the best they have quality therapists uh that they have
Starting point is 00:34:53 quality therapists that work according to a strict code of conduct, and they are fully licensed in the U.S. With over 30,000 therapists, BetterHelp is one of the world's largest online therapy platforms, having served over 5 million people globally, and it works with an average rating of 4.9 out of 5 for a live session based on over 1.7 million client reviews. This December, start a new tradition by taking care of you our listeners get 10 off at betterhelp.com slash pd that's better h-e-l-p.com slash pd let's get back into the episode um okay so this i guess this episode doesn't come out for like a week but while we were recording the dodgers signed edwin diaz
Starting point is 00:35:46 so i would like to go home now you see uh the fucking dodgers i hate them yeah yeah that sucks for you i'm gonna be honest wait is that the guy that's like not anymore that's like your guy i mean it probably is still yeah it's definitely they're definitely still gonna do that it's gonna it's gonna be like it's probably gonna be like a hit among like the Dodgers fans too well it's like a Latin song and I feel like
Starting point is 00:36:19 the Dodgers have a huge Latin fan base yeah Mexican specifically I guess well you guys are all looking at me like I can't say that there's a lot of Latino Dodgers fans I don't know the rules anymore I'm just I'm trying to become a better
Starting point is 00:36:35 go to a Dodgers game I'm trying to become a better safe than sorry guy Yeah, I'm really glad that my Rangers snuck out a World Series before the Dodgers win the next 20. I mean, that's just stupid. But we're the only people who have the money to compete with that. I think it's fun. I think every American sport should just get rid of the salary cap
Starting point is 00:37:01 and just let the richest ones win. I think it's like soccer. You should be able to just do that. No, I actually kind of agree. I just hate the Dodgers. Agreed. But I agree. You would hate anyone if they were...
Starting point is 00:37:14 I do like in soccer where it's like, if you ever are able to topple Real Madrid or Barcelona. You can just get whoever you want with the right amount of money. Like, Ronaldo plays in Saudi Arabia right now because they have a trillion dollars. I know. I just... Ugh.
Starting point is 00:37:30 I mean, we got Devin Williams, who I guess is something. We got Devin Williams. I'm not saying Devin Williams is not good because I don't know anything about him but there is something very funny about like in the context of baseball Edwin Diaz just on paper
Starting point is 00:37:48 we're going strictly on name Edwin Diaz and what Gavin what's his name? Devin Williams Devin Williams I'm probably going to go with Edwin Diaz no he's a good do you actually
Starting point is 00:37:57 do you remember when we watched that Mets playoff game two years ago in Atlanta yeah Atlanta and you left before the Pete Alonzo home run wait I didn't watch a Mets game with you in Atlanta You're dead. In Atlanta, Georgia.
Starting point is 00:38:09 Yes. Where? It was at the Northside Tavern. Oh, we watched it at a bar. Yeah. I thought you meant we went to... I was like, I've never been to the Braves Stadium. No, no, no.
Starting point is 00:38:22 Okay, that makes me feel better. When we were... Yes, of course. The Mets won playoffs, and Pete Alonzo hit that game-winning home run that saved our season. It was off of Devin Williams. He was on the Brewers the other time. Nice. So that's a good sign.
Starting point is 00:38:34 Yeah, I guess. but he was kind of cheeks this year for the yankees but he was good by the end of the year whatever i'll stop talking about baseball because this is not fun for probably most of the people it is funny that we're we'll be goofing around and then every once in a while we'll just talk about like sports for five minutes and it's like i can't imagine there's one person listening that cares about our sports well i if they care about me then they care that i'm sad that's a good point and i'm sad explain it like it's like middle school drama okay this is like the hottest closer at your middle school
Starting point is 00:39:12 like the best relief pitcher at your middle school right who you really who said he wanted to come back and stay in your homeroom and stay in your homeroom went to the evil middle school homeroom does that kind of put it in perspective oh yeah and now and there's one other hot guy from your homeroom that it's like if you don't get him back then we have a real problem because people weren't sure you're going to be able to keep both guys in your homeroom who's the other hot guy that you want to keep pete alonzo pete alonzo i feel would stay so now they have to get but honestly based on their their exit interviews after the season like your exit i don't know if that's the right term but like edwin was more like i would
Starting point is 00:40:04 love to stay like i'm opting out but i want to stay at the mets and then pete was like i don't know we'll see so oh my god that picture of frank that picture of frank the tank yeah i mean she probably had a fucking meltdown can you click on that action the last minute there's a report edwin diaz of the dodgers i knew it was gonna fucking happen i knew it that is why fucking david son sucks they're gonna lose 194 games next year he's gonna lose 194 games it's kind of a great look is he doing like a bit or is that i feel like he's leaning into it at this point that felt like insane off the rip i feel like but i don't really consume a lot of this guys feel weird about
Starting point is 00:41:10 them using him for content he's lost like 300 pounds since the last time i saw him true yeah he looks good um what was the whole thing about the pink pony club i don't know i don't know is that like a thing that the dodgers do oh yeah don't they like win that's like their like win song i think they play california stars after every game by wilco and billy bragg okay what is what what would your life be like if just at the drop of a hat you could get that mad like i don't think i've ever gotten that mad in my life um and it seems like that happens to him like multiple times a day yeah like that sounds like a night that's like the guy who's probably insane it's like this it's like a similar like disease to like the guy that uh orgasms nine
Starting point is 00:41:59 times a day like you just lose your marbles like at the drop of a hundred times a day it was nine times at his father's coffin oh yeah it was like oh my god bro was on one dude he's that is still the saddest saddest thing i've ever heard a human say is him be like i was at my dad's casket you'll never know the pain of being at your dad's casket and orgasming orgasming nine times and i was like speak for yourself buddy oh my god can we watch it again yeah no there's more to it but no i don't want to watch it anymore it's gonna make me sad i want to get edwin diaz on the podcast and tell i'm mad at him would you would you would you hit him if you saw him no what about uh what about your buddy that pitches for the dodgers that's gonna come on the pot one day i was that grinky
Starting point is 00:42:56 no i should ask him i just hate their whole bullpen now he's gonna be hanging out with edwin Diaz yeah they call him sugar you're really like you're gonna miss this guy I think it's been a big part of my life what happens if Pete Alonso goes to the Yankees no more TV just throw it out you'd pull a pull a your mom no TV until oh I'd be like your mom no TV no no TV until the until the Paris Olympics until the Olympics yeah is there Olympics this winner yeah it's like it's like suit wow i'm looking forward to watching my boy red gerard it's a snowboarder that i really he's kind of the only winner athlete that i am excited to watch well you know what's crazy they announced the world cup draw yeah and the u.s's first match is
Starting point is 00:43:52 in la at sofi against paraguay which is we like i've been to paraguay twice and like the only international soccer game i've ever been to was in paraguay and like i have a paraguay jersey at home and stuff you can wear a paraguay no no no of course but it's just like funny like it's like a very random country that me and my family specifically have a big connection to because our like closest family friends growing up were paraguayan and they brought us there and stuff and uh is that the world cup sorry that was dumb i would what i was trying to figure out is that like qual are those like qualifiers or is like that is the world no the world cups is in that's sick we're hosting it is it gonna be like a nightmare for us i don't know i was like i should
Starting point is 00:44:35 like sublet a bedroom we were talking about like getting a group of friends together and like everyone just putting like bring a bunch of air mattresses to one guy's house and we all live in someone's house for a week and then just sublet the other apartments oh that's phenomenal did you see the pride match thing no there's like one match that they had like pre-designated as like the pride match and then like they draw the countries for it and it was iran and egypt that's awesome i wanted to surprise my girlfriend with iran tickets but i found out they're like 600 is here iranian iranian iranian iranian iranian that's how they say it iranians i'm actually not sure technically they say persian oh is that that's in that's where persia was
Starting point is 00:45:22 essentially yeah like where the old persia was it was like kind of some of all those countries i this is gonna sound bad i didn't know i didn't know persia stopped being a thing i honestly didn't either because i thought like i guess i never spent much time thinking about the prince of persia so like when she told me she was persian i was like oh so you're from persia she's like no persia hasn't existed like forever she's like i'm iranian but we say persian is she from iran like she grew up there does she have an accent um no
Starting point is 00:45:55 but she speaks Farsi Farsi yeah wait she was like born there oh wow that's cool that's what their family
Starting point is 00:46:01 like speaks in the household Farsi what does that sound like uh it kind of sounds like German to me I was hoping
Starting point is 00:46:08 you would like try and do it I um you speak any I only know Azizam because of that Ed Sheeran song
Starting point is 00:46:17 what does that mean it means love azizam oh yeah why does ed sheeran have a song called that i don't know he got really into persian culture for like whoa that's kind of i that feels weird to me yeah he's like a guy that's like maybe we stick in like the colder countries yeah made it mainstream i'm gonna be honest i was sitting over here thinking i was so andrew was trying to communicate to the cleaning staff to not vacuum and she didn't speak english and i could tell that was what was happening but i was sitting over here and i was like i don't remember the word for vacuum so i i really don't want him
Starting point is 00:46:50 to call me in because i don't what is it it's like i don't know i should know what i should know spanish like i'm like really trying to learn it you're from texas i know i'm from texas i took german in high school like what a waste of time yeah that's stupid yeah that's like when i mean what's what's that's up there for like most never gonna come in handy because unless you're in germany and even i've run in i've never met a german person i mean i've met german people at epcot that's it yeah i had a neighbor growing up nice caroline benzel she was german i hear a lot of people speaking german like around our office all the time like tourists oh i think like around the office dylan and uh edge are like screaming at each other yes me on youtube that would be so
Starting point is 00:47:44 funny if you walked into a room and your co-workers are screaming at each other in german in front of like a world map you're like oh no that's never a good sign the valedictorian i gotta stop yelling like that the valedictorian of my college was a german tennis player and she beat harper grove out for valedictorian whether beat him out he had one a minus when he was abroad in italy slipping yeah uh was he good at tennis harper no he's good at lacrosse no no no valedictorian like what a weird question go uh she was fantastic at tennis paul georgina groff georgina she was a world-renowned d2 tennis player oh she's still there all in sports no oh oh this was in college she was very nice in college
Starting point is 00:48:38 what you had valedictorians in college yeah it's a small school yeah um i think every college we have one does have them but it's like they're a bunch what uh what's she up to now i believe she is like wildly successful in some sort of like finance field yeah if you're valedictorian and playing a college sport you know i sort of came up with a tennis star myself i mean me and emma navarro were pretty close growing up were you really yeah you kind of ran in the same circles we took the sat in the same room emma navarro yeah i took the sat no i'm actually i i'm good friends with her brother so i actually did i was like i was like around their house she yeah she's like number she's like top ranked i am five i'm five days
Starting point is 00:49:25 older than her suck it emma number eight in the world or something i'd be wow she is is she does she represent the u.s or does she represent another country yeah the u.s yeah she grew up interesting question so does she represent our country or somewhere else naomi osaka does japan even though she grew up in the u.s oh does she can you do that that's yeah because it's like based on like your like heritage i think or she is like or like or based on like your birthplace i think if you're born in japan but like you grew up in the states you can still represent japan which is what she does yeah like i think i think you have to you have to go by your birthplace right i don't know sometimes there's like i think i don't know you can get like dual citizenship
Starting point is 00:50:13 and then i think you can choose you know in basketball like we get to pick one guy like mb is just not from the u.s and we're like he's on our team i know he's from cameroon yeah doesn't that make no sense no he's french he's mb he was like i think born in cameroon and then grew up in france oh and then wasn't cameroon like a french like french what is his french connection then yeah the french connection is maybe the camera french i think cameroon's like a like has like wait go wait scroll down the next thing was why does he have french citizenship oh they just let him become a citizen so he could be on the france the france team that's hilarious he only lived there two years yeah that's what oh no he hadn't even lived there for two years
Starting point is 00:51:01 that's what we did with uh with him is we're just like he's a u.s guy yeah i remember the year the world cup in like 2020 or sorry 2014 i think wait read that according to like on the olympics website we just said he was born in gainesville there's no way we just lie what that's that must have been like just a glitch it's very strange sorry what were you saying really no i just i remember like the rules of that stuff is weird and i remember when in like the 2014 world cup when we had jurgen klinsman was our the manager for the men's national team because he was like a german guy he just like got a bunch of like german guys that like kind of had ties to the u.s and our team was like half german dudes what what sport soccer
Starting point is 00:51:55 the world cup oh that's funny yeah but also weird now like our i think our nuke manager seems like good but he's an argentine yeah and i feel like that i never that's never sat right with me having managers from other countries i think if yeah to manage a national team you should be from the country soccer is weird about that though it's like the only sport that we do it i call it football you sorry football no but i think you know i think in like basketball i think there's americans that manage uh other that coach like other countries national teams i'm saying like like i think america is pretty good about that with everything except for soccer i yeah i just feel i'm like i i think this guy this new guy seems really good and i think we're we hopefully
Starting point is 00:52:40 will have a good run but like it seems like there has to be someone just as good we have 350 million people but yeah by that same logic we should be good at soccer apparently we so i've heard rumblings that apparently like the kids the people that are like children now yeah we have the setup that like when they become adults we're already seeing it a little bit yeah but like we will eventually catch up because we just have we've like yeah it's like a numbers game right we've also just invested in like putting because all the kids in europe are just in an academy from the like if you're good when you're nine they're just like cool your job is now to just live at this academy and we're doing that now with like mls next and so these kids are going
Starting point is 00:53:27 to be disgusting like the the the youngest kids on the national team now apparently are like our best players like we're phasing we're in like this next phase like of like of like we've we've started we're starting to reap the rewards of like of all the work we've been doing peppy i don't know i feel like if you're in the states and you're athletic you're doing like football basketball i think that is still kind of true though yeah like imagine tyree kill on our soccer team imagine like lebron yeah yeah it's insane like steph curry if steph curry was like focused on soccer his whole life yeah instead of fucking shooting threes i know shoot what start shooting ones start kicking ones i'm kicking ones dude my buddy kicks the best one
Starting point is 00:54:21 he kicks insane ones yeah it's but i think like again we just have so many people that like if just 20 of the best athletes are like 20 of the population played soccer yeah we'd be chilling we'd be fine what if they made a soccer team and it's all like bad guys yeah they're just like Kicking the shit out. Like a Suicide Squad team? Ooh. That's a superhero. That's a soccer movie?
Starting point is 00:54:51 I totally misread it. I misunderstood everything. No, I've never seen it. What is the Suicide Squad? A total misreading of the bad guys from the DC movies. They come together and they fight for good. All right. this episode is brought to you by aura frames willie just calls them frames come on come on

Starting point is 00:57:17 an avenger i don't i'm i'm you've never seen a marvel movie no i haven't either the only superhero movie i've ever seen is the dark knight and gardens of the galaxy i guess oh so maybe that's an avenger that's yeah i'm like kind of staunchly anti-marvel i think it's like i think it like ruined movies really is it like the second like a movie guy now no i just like there were so there was such good stuff coming out for like when we were kids and then marvel started happening and everyone was just like oh let's just only do that let's just make the same movie i don't think there's good movies anymore i think there are a lot of good movies i think it changed like what like a theater movie has to be i do think people's opinions on movies changed because like everything
Starting point is 00:58:01 everywhere all at once or whatever was essentially a marvel movie with like a little bit of a semblance of like a deeper meaning and everyone lost their minds i never saw that but i also heard it like really resonated with like immigrants and i can't relate to that so maybe it just wasn't i don't know i just think it's like i think it's like kind of lazy and it's like i you've never seen yeah so you understand how do you know nothing about me this is like my whole thing i'm like anti things without checking it i know and my whole thing is like trying to like clock your tea yeah do you think you get do you think you've clocked my tea are people gonna be mad that i'm saying that no i think i think people will agree with you it's just funny because i
Starting point is 00:58:44 feel like you have no basis for it you're just regurgitating things you've heard 100 all right cool that's like the thing i do is like i make an opinion without i'm sure that yeah there are people that will agree i don't know i i'm like i have no take on marvel movies because i've never seen a single one but what i but i think there are still good movies like there's um rango came out what just 15 years ago uh the holdovers i like too i'm too i'm definitely being too harsh on marvel movies i just know you might be right i just don't know it's just like two guys who've never seen a marvel movie debating the like well okay let me give a little context as to why i may be anti this universe yeah i had to take a writing about comics class got it and all these
Starting point is 00:59:30 kids were so fucking pretentious about you had to take writing about comics i didn't have to take that specific one i had to take a writing about class god and i was like that one will be the easiest yeah and then all these kids were like so like elitist about knowing all the all the stuff and it just made me be like i hate anyone i hate that okay that's everything i when my sister was in college she tried to take a class that she thought was tried to take well she thought it was coloring and it turns out it was like colors and it was like how oh like how like light refracts into like different colors and it was like a like yeah she said it was like science of light hell yeah she thought i was gonna be like doodling i took a history of edm really nice they talked
Starting point is 01:00:15 a lot about skrillex and avicii and depeche mode that's was the third one yeah what the mode you ever heard of the patch mode they're like a german group back in like the 80s i think oh cool pretty popular that's that's gotta be insane to be like ahead of your time you just do it yeah like 1980 man that's a big class at like usc like uh i always see videos like yeah like murph like comes back and like plays for them i just can't get into it edm i was driving around with ben barrett and that's like what he listens to and it was kind of like yeah like i couldn't imagine being in my car and just going like going somewhere kind of mild like just going to work and like that's what you're listening to i think i just like the words too much that's
Starting point is 01:01:07 why all i care about is like the songwriting or not all i care about but i feel like i it's important that's what i focus on most in a song i think you and i like to go on a journey yeah when we're listening more than a feeling oh shut up journey you and i like to go on a journey it's more than i've been uh guys i i was rage bait by the way i know that's not during me who sings it boston oh i didn't what i would have believed you i thought uh i thought we were doing a bit and then i was worried i didn't want i was i'm not willing to take any criticism to be clear so i had to clarify i kind of want to just come up i want to get out of all this scott free i speaking of scott scott scott free till it backwards uh hey i still want it i still think
Starting point is 01:01:59 uh i still love the idea of scott free where it's like you're hanging out with him and then he starts doing ads i joined a i joined a golf simulator place i'm now a member at a golf simulator place wow one step one step below the big leagues i'm growing i'm growing this is my first membership i've ever had yes are true netflix true true dude if i get one more email that these streaming places every everything every streaming place can't be 20 that's insanity they're all 20 and i have to have 20 of them yep so yeah oh yeah what was that i thought you were like mocking me no i like glitched um yeah but if you guys ever want to come if you guys ever want to get
Starting point is 01:02:54 guest passes free guests free guests it's like the greatest thing ever but yeah if you guys ever want it there's like a bar and there's apparently there's food that's it and so we can go play and i'm very excited about it i think i'm gonna start going like every day after it's i picked a bad day to join because i am getting Tuesday getting hammered yesterday and today for work so i can't i don't want to i don't want to show up drunk drunk the first they're like um i bet they have good chips nice um but you guys are more than welcome with the club yeah whatever you got i'm gonna start calling it the club maybe we could go next weekend i'm very excited because i'm trying to get flan to pick up golf again or just be like again did she used to she made her
Starting point is 01:03:41 dad i guess when she was like a little kid she's a lefty so she had to make him buy like lefty kids clubs and then she went to like one lesson it was like no and never did never did it again and so when we were in like booth bay i wanted her to come out she bailed and like if i can get her excited about golf this way then i think during the summer she'll be she'll want to go out on the course because the simulator is the perfect place to get someone like back into golf because there's no risk yeah yeah it's like we're not gonna go anywhere she can like have a glass of wine and i'm very excited i had a similar experience with hockey where i did one day of it and the skates hurt my feet and i said yeah but i made the newspaper do you resent your do you resent
Starting point is 01:04:27 your dad for not making you push through it a little bit but whatever did you ever show the newspaper wait why did you make the newspaper for one day they were like uh it's a miracle oh like wilden allen picks himself up after a fall to the ice huh that was like hard-hitting news i wonder if this even yes wilden allen does pick himself up after a fall to the ice at the lancaster i can't believe that came up i just unbelievable there i am that's that's you that's me damn you were kind of like fitted i know that's why i feel bad like i had all the gear and then i just never went back i was in the newspaper for uh for like a golf thing look up jack kelly
Starting point is 01:05:16 uh golf newspaper jack kelly golf newspaper gold newspaper it's worth millions images huh a lot of joe kelly's out there you don't have to have one no i had one i was like me getting a lesson for some there was a like a a famous coach was like in town and they gave our team like a whole lesson and they used the photo of him like correcting my plane when you were in like high school yeah let's say yep my senior year i only took one class and it was a golf class and i was you only took one class or senior year yeah that's all like second you were probably just like like partying it up i
Starting point is 01:06:15 tried but everyone else was busy so yeah that is like the downfall yeah it was horrible actually because all my friends still had like lab reports you were like boozing and i was just boozing by myself what is happening uh so i thought it would be good to get into golf because i was by myself so i was like i was like i'm just gonna get really into golf and i would go to the range every day for like three hours and i just destroyed my hands and then i just like wouldn't be able to play that weekend with my friends like no my hands are like oh my god i couldn't even freaking you didn't get like calluses over time i guess you have to like you have to kind of like ease into it you can't just like one day yeah go hit like a hundred balls that's like the in the
Starting point is 01:06:54 office yeah like a big client thing and andy goes the range for like eight hours and he just can't hold the club i have like permanent on these two which i guess is like not good or no that's probably weird no but i was thinking i was thinking it was my right hand these two right here are just have always had calluses um do you see that guy that's been spraying dog medicine on his hands to like make them tougher no what's dog medicine i don't know but he's been doing it for like like months and now he can uh levitate things it's in bro pull up pull i you're not gonna believe me pull up dog medicine he they he has like superpowers now he can levitate things yeah yeah watch this that that first video this guy has been spraying dog medicine on his hands
Starting point is 01:07:41 and now he has, like, superpowers. We're going to try and levitate a couple different things here today. We serve breadcrumbs. Also, can I bring a baseball bat and a forearm? Stick around and find out. Isn't this insane? I mean, I don't know what I'm looking at.
Starting point is 01:08:01 He's levitating breadcrumbs. And then go to, like... Jack, you know that doesn't make any sense. Dude, his hands are, like, radioactive. He's been spraying them. He's been doing this for, like, months. I'm sold. do it go to his profile he does it with go to his profile he does it with like tin foil
Starting point is 01:08:16 yeah like click that i guess like they're like static his hands are like permanently like electrified i guess yeah it's like a static thing yeah he posted like when he touches metal things it like shocks them like he's electric now go to go to the tinfoil one the tinfoil one's crazy the paper clips that's insane or wait scroll scroll up andrew go to that one of the faucet running look he's like electric now You can bend water now? Starting point is 01:09:50 You know what's funny? He's like, no one's even, like, asking any questions. No, I think there are some. He's going to disappear in, like, two months. Yeah, I guess his bio is just, I spray dog medicine on my hands to make them stronger. i kind of like a guy that just has like one thing going on you know what i mean no frills like like what's what's what's your buddy what's your buddy like will all about it's like he sprays dog medicine that's his thing i wish that was what is dog medicine i don't know
Starting point is 01:10:22 you guys are asking the wrong questions say why is yeah why is it dog i like we do our dress I like that he misspelled medicine here, too, as if, like, somebody else had the username Fist of the Dog Medicine. Wait, what? No, it doesn't matter. Sorry. No, just forget about it. Forget I said anything.
