Starting point is 00:00:00 Don't you wish you could just hit skip on the worst parts of your life? You know, the same way you can skip an ad? I get it. I'm Siaya and I live in Ice Cove. I've made some questionable decisions that didn't end up the way I planned. And today I'm still figuring it out. Somehow things usually get worse before they get better. Apparently, that's how I roll.
Starting point is 00:00:22 So bundle up and come along for the bumpy ride. Stream a new episode of North of North Tuesdays on CBC Gem. yeah did you guys ever play like forever beers growing up like you all picked a a way your tab goes you're the only guy i've never heard of it me and all my buddies did this growing up where it was like when we were 16 we were like we should we should all find a way that like our tab goes and like if you catch that guy with his tab not in that position he has to finish his beer and mine was straight up wow sketchy phil's was down to the left what's his right sketchy phil and who's the next guy bigo okay sketchy phil by the way totally normal dude
Starting point is 00:01:04 yeah i met him once i was like there's no fucking way yeah why in my mind when i met his friend ass clown i was like he just seems like a regular nine-to-five kind of guy yeah the whole joke was like he was he's just like a really like model kid and like all of our parents like loved him and so it was like we had to take him down a peg and like start calling him sketchy phil because he wouldn't partake in any of the sketchy right things that we do where are you from maine are you from maine yeah what about you you guys are both orange county right i'm from northern california i don't know why yeah i was born in sacramento cool yeah which i you know capital i try not to talk about a lot because i'm ashamed why is norcal and so it blows dude it blows
Starting point is 00:01:47 i feel like it's kind of having a moment right now with like the king it's kind of having the like the beam yeah is he from there yeah him and kevin fart um what sucked about it what's up what like why did blow you know you go there you think of california you think of beaches yeah think of cool people i mean there's cool people there but you go to sacramento and you're like this could be anywhere dude this could be in iowa this could be in kansas this could be wherever and then you tell me yeah be like oh why are you from california where are you from yeah in sacramento they're like oh you went to you went to school in new england though right i did i went to a boarding school yeah yeah are you familiar yeah most of my buddies were like in some of those schools like
Starting point is 00:02:31 deerfield and like pa and stuff yeah i went to hotchkiss okay cool yeah yeah a lot of like all the the barrett brothers who started friday beers are all like new england prep guys and i wasn't really in that in that world but greenwich bros yeah very much so yeah yeah um are we is this are we recording oh okay we should introduce our guests we do this we do this every time where anytime we have someone on lauren will be like you guys are 15 minutes into a conversation like having to address that they're two new guys here yeah rolling start it's chad chad and jt episode 30 30 our our steph curry episode yeah pretty big stuff and uh yeah we've got chad jt welcome welcome to the podcast fellas pumped to be here i'm a fan yeah thank you likewise feelings mutual
Starting point is 00:03:18 yeah we also want to let people know emily is here today lauren is off the coast of ireland fishing wow so yeah what's that trout good to see you again i think it's yeah probably nothing yet but we'll keep you posted she sent me a picture she sent me a picture of like a 400 pound goliath grouper yeah oh yeah she's having she's having a good stuff it's good eating yep so that's good but um we usually do this thing he loves this i am like really into it where i like to give people like a road map of like the segments and stuff so that they like know what to do will's not that big of a fan of it but i feel i feel like it's necessary and then it gives a little bit of structure jazz and classical so we are gonna ask you guys you guys are kind of like uh i feel like
Starting point is 00:04:06 notoriously chill guys and so we were gonna ask you like situations that have happened to us and how a more rational person than will or i would handle the situation then we're gonna do we do like business pitches from the listeners then we pitch each other then we are gonna do sayings that don't exist and words that don't sound like what they are and uh i think we have some some fan-submitted Am I the Asshole situations. Am I the Asshole?
Starting point is 00:04:35 People DM us with real-life situations and then we kind of analyze what they're doing. We had a guy last week and he sent us this thing about
Starting point is 00:04:45 how he broke up with his fiance and then her little sister moved in with him and he started hooking up with the little sister but his DM cut off
Starting point is 00:04:54 because he can only send so much and so we called him and he picked up like it was a normal phone call and just like talked to us
Starting point is 00:05:00 on the phone for 10 minutes about the problem it was like very very strange yeah um did he have any guilt over what he was doing yeah i think he kind of knew that he wasn't totally in the right yeah but it yeah the first was he also proud of himself though too for yeah he you could tell he was patting himself on the back the way he was phrasing it was like that it was a good poll for him yeah yeah like it was awesome dude we were i was in the uh new orleans airport yesterday and this you ever like in a in a scenario where you feel like you're getting punked like you're like there's no way this is
Starting point is 00:05:32 a real person yeah the bartender it wasn't that busy of a bar but she kept like coming up and being like what do you guys want and then we'd start to order and she would just walk away like middle of the order and so she would catch like the first drink i was like i'll do a double screwdriver and skylar was like i'll do a bloody mary and then he went to point to our other buddy and be like he'll do he wants a double whiskey neat but what she heard was uh double screwdriver and then she goes bloody mary and make it a double right and he's like no no but her back's already turned so you got a double bloody mary you got a double bloody mary and then we had to order like two more or a double whiskey and she kept she was taking so long with everyone that people were like
Starting point is 00:06:10 missing their flight or like going to miss their flight so they they would just leave and she would put the drinks down and be like anybody want two shots of whiskey and we were like no that person left already i think that's very new orleans i think that's the culture down there that's the culture my brother tried to start a business down there and he's like people don't follow through he's like it's tough to like i'm doing most of the work because i'll like have people and they'll start and then they just don't finish and so the business didn't work they just gave up what was the business uh truck washing business nice yeah and people they were just like they'd wash like the bed and then yeah they'd wash half the truck and they'd be like all right i'm gonna go get a
Starting point is 00:06:51 daiquiri and he just did all the work they let you drink in the car there like they have drive through daiquiris i've done that it's pretty awesome what's the legality of like if you're the driver can you order it or do you have to have like you have to have a guy that could be like your patsy like if you got pulled over but like but like if like it's like a service the way it was explained to us was like i could be drinking it driving and when the cop came over i could just hand it to my buddy and say that it was his like there's no open container law which is kind of walk outside with like oh yeah you you went to two she went to two lane two lane oh you did i did was that fun jp lost it was unreal yeah yeah how how often were you on bourbon street
Starting point is 00:07:33 honestly not much you mostly like when you're partying you stay uptown because bourbon's like very touristy do what you get for like the holidays and stuff like patrick's day and stuff which is what rusty did oh yeah oh you were that i was i got back at midnight st patrick's day a big one dude it was i've never seen oh it was like complete debauchery but everyone was doing it very politely which i thought was cool like they were you know people will talk about southern hospitality and then you'll be in like alabama and you're like everyone's mean to me here like they're not actually hospitable all these people in new orleans were like very welcoming we had a giant camera crew with us and just no one was asking any questions they were just down to like
Starting point is 00:08:12 hang out that's awesome what uh do you have a favorite uh because i love all the novelty cocktails on reverend street do you have a favorite cocktail try hurricane hurricane's good i might have i might have i might have dropped the ball on that one i it was because it was saint patty's day so everyone was doing like car bombs right um which like is so fun for the first or second one and then it's just you can't it's not a day long it was also 90 degrees so it's like the worst two things that you could be mixing on a hot day like that. Dude, have you had the car bomb
Starting point is 00:08:47 like curdles? Yeah. Immediately? Wait, what's a car bomb? Like drop Bailey's into a Guinness. Bailey's and Jameson into a Guinness. Yeah. I did it with some friends yesterday for the holiday and then one of my friends, she didn't drink it
Starting point is 00:09:03 but she had dropped it in. You have five seconds. They were like, Will, you take this one and then it was like cheese yeah it was like the consistency of like oh interesting it turns into like a gelatin it's very yeah no it was like like you know when you can't get past the texture like it was just like yeah we had a we had a irish pub called fiddler's green in when i was in college awesome and the owner was super irish and i wasn't familiar with like how serious the irish take the potato famine like that's their like 9-11 i guess and i was like kind of joking with the
Starting point is 00:09:40 owner like we had become what i thought were buddies and i made a comment about the potato famine like kind of like a jab and he banned me for a month whoa what'd you say i don't remember it like it wasn't from the way this story is told to me it wasn't like i told a killer joke and he just took it wrong like i just i didn't make a great one and it didn't land one outsider kind of commenting on yeah family business yeah there was no real famine so like that's what he was mad about is he was like he was like people don't take this seriously enough like like a lot like a lot a lot of people like don't realize like how big of an impact this had once the nato connor in that spoken word song she does she mentions that the potato famine was like kind
Starting point is 00:10:19 of instrumented because of like english oppression right yeah it was they were taking they were only allowed to eat potatoes so then when the potatoes went bad they just were like all right then you all-star but they were there's plenty of food there's meat yeah they would just take their fish and like and they had to ship it all day once william wallace came through all that shit was over with yeah i think brave braveheart might be my favorite movie what is that yeah it's like the wrong i like i like braveheart the most well they're they're irishmen that fought with him though oh that's true though his buddy comes over he's like it's my eye um all right can we can we run a couple things past you and ask oh you haven't no i have one oh i was gonna start because
Starting point is 00:10:57 you just mentioned 9-11 and mine takes place on 9-11 i want because we talked about on the last episode of our podcast it came up that my birthday is september it's 11 9-11 he just broke the whole fucking thing oh is that on purpose you go free yeah that was totally on purpose badass i like badass um anyway i was i was we were talking about it last week and it was reminding me so my 20 i'm 23 which means that my 21st birthday was the 20th anniversary of september 11th which i didn't really connect the dots but i decided to go visit my brother in new york city and we're big mets fans and we happen to see oh my god the mets are playing the yankees we're gonna go to the game like perfect timing not realizing like immediately we get there we
Starting point is 00:11:43 realize oh it's like because of the 20th anniversary of 9-11 they're kind of doing a lot of that's why the Mets are playing the Yankees that day we had nosebleeds we got some margaritas we decided to sneak up to some better seats so we snuck down like we're right in the front like in the outfield but pretty close up seventh inning after a few margaritas they announced we'd like to honor the families of those who lost their lives in 9-11 or yeah that and they're like please stand up so we can properly applaud you. And we had snuck into that section.
Starting point is 00:12:18 Oh no. So everyone in our entire section stood up because apparently they'd lost people in 9-11. Yeah. And so the moral dilemma is do you stand up or do you stay seated? What'd you do? Wait, is this a real story? This really happened. So what did you do? Or you wait, you
Starting point is 00:12:33 should wait until they give their answer. Okay, yeah. Oh, you gotta stand up. Cause you gotta do whatever you can to not draw attention to yourself, to just fit into it. That's whatever the scene it feels like stolen valor but that's what we did we stood up well because then if you sit down it's like are they not sad that they lost family members just were they rooting for the taliban and al-qaeda yeah well that begs too many questions exactly and it makes it about you a little totally like you just kind of want to fit in at that point what if someone
Starting point is 00:13:01 you know saw you on tv and was like that was you had family you make up an uncle yeah i guess i It was a nightmare. Here's a big cue. Did you put down your mark? I don't think so. You held the mark. I might have even taken a sip. Here's to my dad.
Starting point is 00:13:22 You weren't listening. You thought they were putting the Jumbotron on you. It was one of those moments where you could chug your drink. I thought you were on the kiss cam. I just started kissing the girl next to me. so what would you guys would both stand yeah okay i'd put down the mark though i think that's an important decision you're like eating fries um okay this is one that that will and i actually disagree on and basically like will and i are
Starting point is 00:13:54 flying together oh god i hate this i sit in the i sit in the front usually because i have like i get like upgraded because i have a lot more miles and will no offense and uh and so when we're all going home like it's been a long day say we land at like 11 p.m will thinks that when i get off the plane i should wait for him outside the gate and like say goodbye and then we'll walk even though we're going separate places i just like left one time every time every time and will called me out and was like you never wait for me to say goodbye it's not about saying goodbye it's like we're both gonna get off i'm gonna be off the plane in two more minutes and then we're gonna walk together and we're gonna get taxis or ubers from the same place yeah sometimes
Starting point is 00:14:34 that's brave of you to say something yeah thank you it feels crazy i i think you i think i think he's right i think you should wait but we're going like he's going to his house i'm going to mine if we're going to the same like hotel i wait for will but it's like we're not taking the same uber but you did the trip together so i think yeah i think you want to conclude i think you don't want to leave the the end of it open-ended you want to yeah yeah i guess we need to bookmark it were you at all aware that you were making a choice there that might affect him that way so like there was like one there was one time it had never crossed my mind and then there was one where it had just been a nightmare flight and it felt like we had all kind of like gone to war
Starting point is 00:15:15 together and i left early and on the way there that was the on the way out that was the first time where i was like i feel like we should have at least caught up a little bit and been like that was a nightmare would you feel vulnerable if you did wait for him i would feel like i was doing like you know something cool it would be like you know i wouldn't be doing it because it's the right thing i would be doing it out of like hoping will would be like that's a nice move that you okay i mean i also think like he kind of overstated the beginning like the whole like status thing it's like usually you're like five to six rows ahead of me that really bumped him when you said yeah that pissed i've been i actually wasn't listening to anything since then um no no but
Starting point is 00:15:54 it's not like he's like like if he was like first class and i'm like last row then that's like a 10 minute wait 10 15 minute wait still should wait but i'm saying like it's like most of the time i get off the plane i can see him like like like the down like he's walking like 30 feet ahead of me and i see him so do you think the reason he walks away is because he doesn't respect the amount of miles that you have i think because i'm fucking silver and he's gold i mean right it's like a class thing for you he's platinum then maybe we have that conversation for the right for the record I'm I once my pending miles kick in I will be platinum yeah let me are you are you platinum delta I'm right now I'm delta gold medallion but my pending goes into this changes everything
Starting point is 00:16:36 I'm silver oh my god no I can't we can't even be seen wait for no one yeah you wait for no one you should stay you should stay on the plan until he's gotten his if they melted your status cards down his would be worth tens of thousands i just wait wait wait i have more miles though that's not true that's just because i spend mine that's you can't so that is true that's because i got the credit card and i spent enough in my first three months that's like when you have a lot of free testosterone but you're not converting it into actual body power yeah i've got a hundred thousand miles in my account right now i i just i just think about think about it this way well if if another platinum member sees me walking
Starting point is 00:17:17 through the airport with the silver member right i lose all cred with like the comfort plus people yeah yeah that's like that's like asking if you can go in the lounge dude you can't go i know they changed the rules they made it harder i went to the obstacles now i went to go to get into the lounge and my credit card for like a year had let me into the lounge and like i was traveling back from palm beach the day after new year's so on january 1st they changed it so you had to like you had to be a diamond member it didn't matter what credit card you had and the lady like like impublicly humiliated me in front of the rest of the line and was like pointed at the thing and she had crossed out in sharpie the thing the things that used to qualify you she had scribbled
Starting point is 00:18:02 them out and she tapped on the thing and goes you're not allowed here anymore wow yeah she said like that yeah she was pissed wow yep i think uh yeah dude i like yeah given this whole status thing i think i think you shouldn't wait and you should definitely shouldn't ask him for some charcut from the lounge run it and grab me ziplock your pockets bring me out all the meats you can we were uh we were on a flight it was me will and uh alex edge who works here and he like looks a little bit older than will and i and will and him were sitting in the same row he is older and he nobody like he yeah he's yeah he looks he's like 10 years older but he looks it's it's important to note i'm sure he loves you guys are having this he doesn't fucking listen and he he uh he
Starting point is 00:18:49 ordered will like uh like a glass of wine or something and the the stewardess to will was like uh it's a really cool dad you have and it like pissed him off because he's like he's like 35 yeah wait so you were born one year after 9-11 one year before one year before okay wow yeah I had the last good 9-11 Do you feel like you inherited any of that trauma? Yeah I do think I've been through a lot You know my initials
Starting point is 00:19:22 My initials are also WMD Which is kind of funny Wow dude I feel dumb but that one went over my head Weapons of mass destruction We went to war with Iraq Well they had WMDs They had them
Starting point is 00:19:38 Are you guys watching the the cold war doc on netflix just came out no jfk one no yeah oh he's in the thumbnail he's yeah yeah i just watched the first episode where they go on the atom bomb they just concluded world war ii and now i'm hearing about soviet russia i'm like dude i'm still actually sounds great i'm pissed at commies right now yeah it is funny when you watch one of those things you you have hatred for like a group that doesn't exist anymore i'm like dude stalin what the hell my uh i'm still i'm still my mom's netflix and my tv figured out that we don't live in the same house anymore so i don't have netflix is that what it's
Starting point is 00:20:16 all about it sucks dude i thought you're rich because you have a platinum membership so it would be weird now so you would know this if you're a platinum member but you get paramount plus uh just for 24 hours after you departure so after you depart really like it's like after you get off the plane you have 24 hours of i've never used it really it's like a hilarious thing that they do where it's like you can watch it for 24 hours after you leave now i wonder if it's like economically smart to just fly a bunch you can like pound out yellowstone or something it's like uh someone was telling me that their buddy uh every year if he's not to diamond he'll take a flight uh that goes all the way to like thailand and then he just gets on the one right
Starting point is 00:20:58 back so that he can have the miles isn't that insane yeah it's nuts you gotta at least check out that's a smart cover for doing a quick hit on a minor and then it's for the miles uh all right should we hear some uh some playmate pitches yeah well do you do they know what is it basically like we're gonna hear some business pitches from our esteemed colleagues and we we give like our our opinion on like whether we think it's a sound we're the sharks Wait, when you first said that, I literally thought you meant Playboy, like, Playmates. No, that's... Yeah, so Lauren...
Starting point is 00:21:33 We call our fans Playmates. Yeah, okay. I thought you meant, like, an OnlyFans model. Okay, so here's my business. We are liberated. I'm still gonna film it, but this time I'm wearing, like, a funny hat or something. That's my bitch. All right, here we go.
Starting point is 00:21:48 This person says, my friend Numya... Sorry if I... You gotta say their name so that they... Beth says this, but her friend Numya is a loyal fan and put me on. This is her pitch. So this is Numya's pitch. It feels like I got you.
Starting point is 00:22:05 Like a Numya business or something. If it's Numya or whatever, I'm really sorry. Alright. Eating a burger or hot dog and worried about getting sauce stain on your new outfit? Bibs aren't socially acceptable unless you're a baby. And if you're out on the town, most things will set before you get the chance
Starting point is 00:22:21 to wash it. Introducing clear condiments they taste exactly the same as regular condiments but they're completely clear even if you spill on yourself the stain won't be visible at all it'd be a whole line of clear condiments ketchup mustard relish etc big fan of the pod y'all are awesome hope you like it that's that's pretty good that's one of my favorite ones i like that a lot i worry i worry about just the visual though of like you know putting some translucent liquid on your food if people weren't aware that that's what it was yeah it would up the amount of stains that do happen granted they would be clear yeah i mean i yeah i feel like you'd get them mixed up too yeah it feels like
Starting point is 00:23:01 an issue yeah i mean we could probably label them yeah but once it's out of the like if you say you go to a restaurant they give you like three little cups yeah and then you gotta like i feel like yeah i feel like you would be much dirtier though because you wouldn't be worried about it getting love your shirt i think the color is half the taste that's true that's my that's my only thing i love namia but i think i i think it should actually be something that you buy separate that's like a water kind of uh formula that you can put on a stain that turns it white or that on any liquids they probably already tied that's called a stain remover wait hold on I think they have this also that makes like any liquid just fall off instead of like this is just
Starting point is 00:23:48 my grandma had this on her on her windshield they it was like water repellent so she would she could be driving on the highway and like a storm and her windshield wipers wouldn't be on because it hits and just like flies off what if we take a step further we create like a box where you put their dirty clothes into and it just like spins it around yeah and like takes the takes it out yeah that's a good idea that could be good yeah it could be good all right i love that one let's hear the it won't work but it's a good idea let's hear the next one the next one is from someone named dylan um every man or woman's pocket should be their nervous sanctuary where their hands can resort to in need of something to hold or fidget with nice that is
Starting point is 00:24:31 why i'm introducing fidget pants pants that come with built-in fidget toys so your hands will never be restless again i like that oh okay uh here's my thing with it is people are gonna think you're playing pocket pool and you know that's that's up to your discretion if you you know but you could get busted you know don't do pant fidgeters near a preschool yeah i would be curious to see because like most of the fidget toys that i'm thinking of kind of rely on like there being a lot of space like you couldn't have like a spinner yeah in your pocket in front of it was just like goo like slime i do love goo yeah like the texture of it yeah i mean it's like play-doh in your pants yeah but still dude you're in your pants going like this you're just yeah i think i'm with chad
Starting point is 00:25:23 here that that it works on paper but a lot of people don't have as pure of a mind as dylan and they would think you're doing something else maybe it's for wearing around the house yeah yeah but you're not you're not really nervous around the house i i am all right should we uh should we pitch each other yeah yeah do you guys bring some i have a business idea all right all right well i didn't write it out like this but basically i was um here let me uh Where is it? Okay.
Starting point is 00:25:57 Googling business ideas. All right. What's the most epic part of skiing and snowboarding? The apres ski. Yeah, I was about to say the afters. The chili. Chili at the lodge. Well, what's unique to the mountain?
Starting point is 00:26:12 Chairlift. Slopes. No. The chairlift. Yeah. But what's even more beautiful than the chairlift? A gondola? A gondola.
Starting point is 00:26:20 Yes. What is a gondola? I was going to say the same, but no. I like the way you got it. That's why my new company, The Gondola, is a citywide gondola. You take gondolas, they replace public transportation. So I'm talking there's gondolas. You could go, let's say you're in L.A., you take the gondola from Venice to WeHo.
Starting point is 00:26:41 I love it. You're with your crew. You're all together. You're in a gondola. You're going over the city. It's beautiful. You get to see the city. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:26:48 And it doesn't have to be an ice store. You can paint them however you want to paint them. It could be, like, you know, Lakers or, you know, just cool things like that. Yeah. And you're just gondoling everywhere. I mean, that'd be great. I love that. No traffic.
Starting point is 00:27:01 No traffic. I'm all in on that. It's a really good idea. Just gondola. Yeah. It will be littered with open mic comedians living outside of it. They had one at Hard Rock that takes you, it's a gondola that takes you over. No, sorry, like the stadium, like where the Dolphins play.
Starting point is 00:27:19 Oh, okay. That's Hard Rock in me. yeah i guess i should have been more specific they um and i always thought that was cool because it didn't it didn't serve a purpose it was only for you to go up and see and then come back like it took you it dropped you off at the same place that you got on oh really yeah it was just for you to see the stadium from above interesting it's kind of cool it's kind of cool jt you got one yeah it's called a super sub so it's a uh it's an app that matches you as someone who looks like you that lives in your area who when you're nervous to do something you can schedule to have
Starting point is 00:27:51 them sub in for you and do the thing that's so fantastic i love that i love that yeah i like that like there's probably not anyone that looks like that much like you right so it's it's i i do wonder about like your friends like some of the specifics but but i think it's it's mostly for like uh i guess the thing i was saying it's like when you're nervous to like ask someone out or hit on them or something like that yeah you call in your super sub and they could do it for you and wear the brunt of the I like that
Starting point is 00:28:16 the rejection yeah that's awesome what do you got if it goes south I got I forget but I printed it out
Starting point is 00:28:22 I got I actually wrote two things down the first one this one sucks but well first one I had is prescription haircuts
Starting point is 00:28:32 which would be like there's like you go get a consultation and they like assess you and they tell you like this is what's gonna look best and you can trust them
Starting point is 00:28:42 with confidence and they give you a little prescription you take to the bar so you don't have to like i always hate when they're like what number yeah what clippers and i'm always like i don't know i wish there was someone who could just tell me what yeah that's smart so when they ask you you don't feel like you're under the gun or you're like uh you're like this is one of my doctors yeah you just go they go oh like what are we looking for today
Starting point is 00:29:02 and i just go like boom and they're like got it that also safeguards you because a lot of times uh not so much nowadays but you know five ten years ago they'd go for the old school beaver cut yeah because they because they think they know yep yes what looks better on you yeah and i'd come out and like it it was just you know i i was like this is horrible and uh you can't be like this is not what the doctor ordered so i think literally yeah and by creating that kind of medical paper trail you can now sue a bad haircut exactly exactly practice i like that yeah it's medical malpractice you don't have that for colors too like they actually have people who color swatch
Starting point is 00:29:44 other people and tell them what colors brighten their skin and look better on them. Like for makeup? No, your hair dyed. No, not for hair. What color clothing looks best on you? You literally can
Starting point is 00:30:00 pay hundreds of dollars and you get your colors assessed. I think the best part about this pitch is whenever I go, I was always a picture guy growing up like i would say i want this haircut but i think the problem is like the guys who have the best haircuts are the best looking guys yeah and so i always felt really nervous being like i want this haircut but it implies that i think that with that haircut i
Starting point is 00:30:24 will now look like you know ryan reynolds yeah or whatever that's the big con of it is that like you know watching brad pitt throughout the decades he's never had a bad haircut because i don't think he's capable of that yeah yeah i actually show my hairstylist a photo of brad pitt i'm like i want the brad pitt and once upon a time yeah and she's like i can't make you look like i know i know you didn't have to say that my buddy's little brother would uh he was asking us like because he has really cool like curly thick hair you could do like whatever you want with it and he it had grown out so much and he was like what what picture should i show the lady and his brother sent him a picture of like uh adrian grenier from like early
Starting point is 00:31:07 early entourage and like he looks really cool with that haircut but like when you put it on when you put it on a freshman in high school he just doesn't it doesn't have like the same pull and he came back and it looked cool but it was just like really jarring because he had like the craziest like curly hair now um all right i got one hit me you guys like to golf sure I always just get kind of bored. Like, I like to golf as much as the next guy, but after a while, like, it's kind of the same thing. It's hard for me to stay focused on golf for four hours.
Starting point is 00:31:46 It's an Epcot-style golf course where each hole has a different theme. Oh, yes. Jimmy Buffett hole, there's a drink waiting for you that's, like, tied to the theme of the hole. Music's playing. Like, there might be people just kicking it who like that vibe, like, around the course,
Starting point is 00:32:03 and it's just a blast. dude that's so smart the morocco hole would be sick you just blew my mind too that like people think like resort courses or desert courses or tropical they think they're so different they're all basically the same yeah i uh i had that i had i'm glad you guys liked that because i was i was lying down last night like on the brink of falling asleep and i sat all the way up and took my phone and wrote that down being like that would be awesome it really fires me up i think you should actually like that'd be a blast yeah we might have underwater one we might have to omit that from the episode there have been a lot where like we're like will and i obviously don't
Starting point is 00:32:37 have the capital or like the brain power to make any of these ideas happen but i'm like it would really suck if like some guy heard that and was like that's pretty good i gotta do like an american gladiator's hole where like your friends are allowed to like nerf gun you while you're hitting and stuff like that i was also thinking it would be because like epcot's all countries it would be funny if like the we just went there we did too so far we might have been there like the same week We went there, like, three weeks ago. Yeah, because we were with Strider, and he was in Florida with you guys. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:05 Yeah. It was awesome. It was a blast. Also, I don't want to get into anything too dicey, but it is incredible that for every country, the people who work there seem like they're from that country. No, but they are from that country. They all get these special... Disney has this, like, weird legal thing they've worked out where they get, like, these special,
Starting point is 00:33:20 like, six-month work visas. It's a little bit like Olympic Village or something like that. Yeah, yeah. Like, it's kind of going off. It's very cool. After hours, I bet. this podcast has like slowly turned into
Starting point is 00:33:29 like an Epcot podcast yeah we always every episode it was one of the best days of my life we just keep talking about it
Starting point is 00:33:37 what was your guys step count afterwards oh god I don't know I don't wear a watch do you do guardians the guardians ride no we only
Starting point is 00:33:44 we drank around the world at Epcot and then did a victory lap and went back to England and chilled there that little pub we just posted up there until they kicked us out
Starting point is 00:33:52 amazing we tried to do guardians it was about a I have a beef guardians is their new roller coaster there and chad's on the cutting edge with that stuff so he was hyped for us to do it but the way they do the line now is you get into a mobile queue on your phone three hours later and then it gives you an estimate on when you can come back so it all together was an eight hour wait to get on the road what country is it yes if i'm being honest
Starting point is 00:34:15 what's that like right at the entrance it's like future world it's like the only part that's like not a designated niche yeah okay yeah i think we did you have a favorite country you went to maybe england england was chill i really like uh because it's hard to say because will and i were only doing it to drink around the world so we didn't really like hang out there so i guess like the best drink was france the best vibe i think i like the frozen like uh oh yeah it's like a frozen something martini and we were all trying to put our finger on like what this flavor was from our childhood and it was it turns out do you guys ever have those uh outshine popsicles the purple ones
Starting point is 00:34:56 it was that wow it was great it was awesome I think I like Norway or whatever the Scandinavian place yeah
Starting point is 00:35:03 it's kind of good oh yeah and all the dude I said that I did a video where I like was don't leave me hanging brother
Starting point is 00:35:11 oh sorry look this is a popsicle yeah these guys right here oh I do remember these yeah more from like
Starting point is 00:35:18 going through the grocery store yeah you guys say grocery store or supermarket I'd say grocery store. Grocery store. But I think a supermarket is its own thing, right?
Starting point is 00:35:30 That's more like Costco size. Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, they mean the same thing. I don't think they do. Grocery store and supermarket? What are we talking about? Like a Whole Foods is not a supermarket. Yes, it is.
Starting point is 00:35:40 Really? I don't know. Yeah, that's the difference between... Look, Emily's really coming for Lauren's job this episode. She's on top of the Googling. Supermarkets are like a one-size-fits-all store, while grocery stores are more specialized so trader joe's is a grocery store uh hannaford is a dude i hate that's one thing i hate about i'd shop at trader joe's but i can't get like
Starting point is 00:36:02 deodorant no yeah they have their all natural deodorants but they don't work for a second no you can't trust any of them oh maybe not deodorant then no no you need the chemicals i've been doing natural deodorant yeah for like a few months and i could tell i was uh i was on the plane yesterday and it didn't occur to me that like you know i might have not like lathered up on the deodorant as much as i had wanted to and it was one of those ones where the temperature kept fluctuating like a crazy amount so it would get really really cold and everyone would put their jackets on and then it would get really really hot yeah and the girl next to me smelled fine but i realized when it got really really hot
Starting point is 00:36:40 i was like i don't think i can confidently take my sweatshirt off because i don't want to be the guy that reeks on this plane and so i just had to tough it out and it's when you were late to school and you had to sprint to class you're wearing a hoodie and then you're like i'm stuck in this for the rest of the day because i gotta keep it concealed yeah but if i could you know the pheromones from your stank yeah but that's only for i've only i've also you know when you uh really like someone and you don't notice the smell i feel like that's because you already like them right right like you don't think it's biological you think it's just more like your i think it's like i'm already logical as i already really like this person so that doesn't
Starting point is 00:37:16 bother me right yeah i don't know i really like someone i thought they stunk agreed i've known yeah especially for gals the other way oh gals yeah i think that like when or when their armpits smell they're like yeah it's a good stank i'm like that no that doesn't fucking exist do you think all guys stink though no but i just i do think that like when guys think that like their armpits don't smell like it really depends on the person because if you're wearing deodorant you're normally fine but i know like a guy who wears deodorant no matter what still i always notice when i'm wearing deodorant and then i start to sweat i kind of like that smell better than just the regular deodorant it's like the sweat's going through the deodorant yeah the
Starting point is 00:37:54 combo yeah it's like a one-two punch yeah also i think it's funny because i my girlfriend's more finicky about smells and i kind of like when she smells a little bit i like tasting the earth on hurt yeah i'm sorry um but um all right should we should we do some am i the assholes yeah um oh wait i had another can i give you my other pitch it was shoe reps like with the w rep like i think that sometimes i really like like i like the bones of a shoe yeah but you can't wear the you know you want it to match your outfit or whatever or match the like vibe of like what you're wearing uh so it's just like different like wraps you can put on it's just like a like like a stock shoe and then there's like different like shells you can put over it it's like different
Starting point is 00:38:40 colors you can put like like you can have like a new balance wrap or like uh when i was for like if your foot if you have like you need like dr shoals or something like yeah good inseam or not inseam good uh insole support it would be like will could make these blue yeah like i could make these like i love wearing these shoes when i was in uh when i was in middle school i had a pair and Nike cleats that the swoosh was see-through and it came with
Starting point is 00:39:05 a bunch of different cards that you could slide in. So like the swoosh could be whatever team you were playing on that year. Oh, that's cool.
Starting point is 00:39:13 Yeah. You know when you ever buy your cleats too early for Little League and then you don't get drafted by the team you were hoping? Now you have blue cleats
Starting point is 00:39:19 but you're on a red team. That's such a specific... Yeah, that doesn't happen. Really? I've never... That happened to me like three years in a row. I was like,
Starting point is 00:39:26 I'm going to the A's and then... And your draft stock plummeted. video you smoke and a bong came out the day before the draft yeah i guess i just never knew what teams it was gonna be it was always a surprise to me they were just like hey you're on the a's and i was like oh cool i just i just mean like we'd be at the store and my dad would be like you should get black cleats because we don't know what team you're gonna be on i would be like no
Starting point is 00:39:44 i'm gonna be on the red socks and then i would be on a team that wasn't red and i would have red that's really sweet what made you think you were gonna be on the red socks i think i was just being optimistic i like that mindset dude there was uh my buddy's dad coached like a little league dynasty and the yankees won five years in a row and he sent out a shirt to the other coaches and it was a a fist on the back of the shirt with a ring on each finger and it said v rings he was just like flexing on the other dads that like his son was really good good i spent some time in the astros it was some good days i was on a good stro's team yeah really yeah we were solid i was on an a's team too yeah i like the uh i like how you know did your did your little league do like
Starting point is 00:40:25 when you were in double a it would be double a real double a team names so you wouldn't be on the red sox until you were actually in like majors or triple a like when i was on when i was like double a of little league yeah we went like we went like t-ball uh single a single a double a and like when i was on double a we were on like the timberwolves or something i was on the timberwolves go yeah we did that one year where we did all minor league team what's the timberwolves it's a minnesota timber will be like it like people were on the sea dogs oh yeah yeah charleston Yeah, my buddy was on that. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:56 Portland Seadogs. Charleston Riverdogs. Riverdogs, sorry. Your buddy was on the Riverdogs? For a little bit, yeah. Hell yeah. You want to know the best minor league baseball team name? We were in Binghamton, New York.
Starting point is 00:41:07 We land, and it's the Binghamton Rumble Ponies. Yeah. That was a recent rebrand. The minors teams have the sickest names, bro. It's so awesome. They're getting more extreme. We're in this era. These teams, they were the Binghamton Mets, and then they were just like, fuck it.
Starting point is 00:41:21 Right now, it's like the Nuclear Tigers. Yeah. it's like a cool thing with an adjective before it to kind of soup it up I remember going to we got really into G League basketball when we were kids because we had the Portland Red Claws now the main Celtics
Starting point is 00:41:36 unfortunately but it would be like the Red Claws versus like the Fire Ants and you'd be like this is going to be a scrappy game alright let's hear some Am I the Assholes alright this first one is from oh we can't say names All right
Starting point is 00:41:54 You can make up a name All right Let's call this guy Krungus No Let's call That's a cool name I'll definitely call him Krungus
Starting point is 00:42:03 Yeah what's Krungus up to? Krungus says Hello Pod A friend of mine Recently had a birthday And last night I wanted to catch up With him to celebrate
Starting point is 00:42:10 He told me he was At a local bar So I showed up There to buy him a beer When I showed up His entire extended family Was there all in tears Because their grandma
Starting point is 00:42:18 Had died that morning Turns out I had Crashed the family bereavement bar run i tried to buy drinks but one of his uncles bought for everyone then i decided to get food and my now drunk friend invited me um or they then decided to get food and my drunk friend invited me am i the asshole for enjoying free mexican food and drinks all night and toasting to a dead lady i've never really knew no no no that's a celebration of life yeah i remember i went to my friend's uh grandma's funeral and like all of his boys knew that knew her a lot more than
Starting point is 00:42:49 i did and they were like a family friend and we went to like a reception at her house it was more of like it wasn't a sad vibe it was like a celebration of life and i felt weird like getting stoked with them because they were i just felt like it wasn't my place to be that excited like they knew her better than i did it seems like uh like you're saying if you're celebrating her life yeah you're in there if you're if you're stoked on her life as a whole i think i think that's good because i feel like death brings people together it's like celebrating being a human being and like the the you know the freaking mortality which is insane yeah crazy yeah crazy what do you think jt i think when you're young too like tragedy isn't sad yet
Starting point is 00:43:41 there's like a a lot of novelty and curiosity around it so you can't help but like want to go to those things and kind of just watch yeah and i think that you feel like more of like a real person that you've like now been close to death agreed like when i first saw one of my family members in the hospital and she was sick and getting near the end yeah i was kind of the man that day i kind of handled it really well because i was like i'd been reading the road by cormac mccarthy and i was like i understand the themes involved here now when someone's dying i'm just sad yeah but at the time i was more of an explorer what was his name crungus yes i think crungus as long as you were respectful right and like no one had made it clear to you that this
Starting point is 00:44:25 was like a private thing and you were not getting in anyone's way i don't think it sounds like crungus was actively invited to both the bar and the dinner but i guess he said his drunk friend So now I'm thinking there was a third party who was like, yeah, we should tag along. No, no, no. I think it was one of the invites. Oh, the friend. Yeah, you were invited.
Starting point is 00:44:43 I think the friend also probably wanted a buddy there. He probably feels like an asshole because he thinks it was so great. That's the only thing that's bothering him. What a wonderful time he had. Yeah. So don't feel bad about that. At least he also offered or was going to buy a drink.
Starting point is 00:44:58 Worried about the money that the uncle bought. He feels bad that the uncle bought. Yeah. it's like and that's the that inheritance is gonna trickle in yeah you know the uncle's moment to shine too like yeah like he has he's the man that's like we are this family just suffered a loss and i'm gonna i'm gonna pay okay i uh i met my girlfriend's parents uh at a like a wake how's that a little awkward there's a bar oh there's a wake at a bar maybe not maybe wakes wrong word but it was a celebration of life yeah oh okay got it the same thing well i think awake
Starting point is 00:45:34 in my mind is like a where you see the castle yeah imagine doing that at like the bar they're just having bud lights they like weekend and bernie's him like he's like sitting in a stool in the corner yeah yeah so that but so that was like kind of like i was like this is kind of a weird but it was it's totally fine yeah i think when you when you don't feel like you're part of the group that's always awkward like yeah all my roommates were on the lacrosse team and they had like this is definitely not the same thing as a funeral but like they had like an end of the season thing and my buddy was like yeah you should come because i was like buddies with all of them and then all of us that weren't on that team they were sad that they had just lost and it felt weird
Starting point is 00:46:14 that we were all like there at this bar like hanging with them and the parents like didn't really know who we were so i feel like he he probably doesn't he feels like the asshole because he felt maybe a little bit out of place yeah i don't think crungus is the ass no i don't think crungus i think you're a good guy i think we who's we got another one yeah we do this one's a little long um all right this is from frickle frickle that's a great name as a woman frickle oh wait frickette did you just make that up yeah nice i'm used to it nothing gets passed upon alright am I the asshole
Starting point is 00:46:53 for hating my boyfriend's best friend's girlfriend my boyfriend wait wait wait you guys you can track that her boyfriend's best friend's
Starting point is 00:47:04 girlfriend boyfriends got it they're the two girlfriends I'm like like imagine if we both had girlfriends and they hated each other
Starting point is 00:47:12 yes correct this is crazy that this is so challenging for you guys stop stop I'm trying to picture like a family tree my boyfriend
Starting point is 00:47:18 okay let's say Let's say you're my boyfriend, and I hate your best friend's girlfriend. If Emily hated my girlfriend. If Emily was your girlfriend. If my girlfriend hated your girlfriend. Yes. Gotcha. All right.
Starting point is 00:47:32 Let's do it. Let's do it. I'm a prickle, and I hate my boyfriend's best friend's girlfriend. Okay. Go ahead. I felt like that was confusing. My boyfriend and I have been together for almost two years now, and one of his close friends' girlfriends is so flirty with everyone, but especially my boyfriend.
Starting point is 00:47:49 And listen, I have no issues with someone who's a little bit flirty, has a little bit of a flirty personality. I've been friends with girls who are just naturally flirty, and it doesn't bother me, but this girl just takes it too far, and it makes not just me uncomfortable. Multiple people in the friend group have noticed and have said it's uncomfortable to be around her. My own BF has said that sometimes her comments make him uncomfortable.
Starting point is 00:48:15 There's a bunch of weird stuff she's done, But one that just really gets me is that she went out to a bar with her boyfriend and another friend that's in the friend group. And that friend, and the friend went to the bar to get a drink. And she came up to him and playfully bumped him with her shoulder. He had recently broken his collarbones and jokingly was like, ow, my collarbone, be careful or something along those lines. And she went, bent down and kissed his collarbone. Wait, how tall is she? Yeah, what?
Starting point is 00:48:47 good catch and he was just in shock like what the fuck is she doing and another thing that she did that was dating some like
Starting point is 00:48:57 Amazon woman yeah look Candace Parker annoys a lot of us like bent down and came I would say now that I'm thinking about it
Starting point is 00:49:03 he was definitely just sitting at a table right oh that could totally be you're good it's crazy how fast you got that oh they were at the bar
Starting point is 00:49:12 so maybe they'd sit in a bar stool or something yeah a lot of possibilities alright another thing that she did that was weird vibes is she went up to one of my uh me and my boyfriend's friends who she didn't even know that well and was like oh my gosh hi how are you and hugged him and didn't say a word to his girlfriend who was standing right fucking there wait can we talk about the way you're reading this it's clear you've been through
Starting point is 00:49:36 these experiences before i would also say how are you The difference in the way that Emily reads these versus Lauren reads them. Lauren reads them like she's Walter Cronkite, reading a story and giving us all the facts. I like that you're acting it out. You gotta get into it. It's such a long story and it's hard to get into it.
Starting point is 00:49:57 Is it still going? Hi, how are you? And didn't say a word to his girlfriend who was standing right fucking there. She also told my boyfriend to do a spin when he got his haircut when he got his hair cut and genuinely
Starting point is 00:50:11 if anyone else had done that I wouldn't give a single fuck but this girl has just done enough weird shit and it just bothered me and I was outwardly
Starting point is 00:50:18 a bitch to her the rest of the night she just does the absolute most with all the guys in the friend group and always wants to be the center of attention
Starting point is 00:50:24 and makes no effort to talk or engage with the girlfriends of the friend group and if you're wondering her boyfriend sees no issues with it and said
Starting point is 00:50:31 that he loves how complimentary and loving she is to all his friends it's like I get that good I get that good for you but all
Starting point is 00:50:39 but when all of your friends don't like her then maybe you should evaluate a little bit and talk to her about her weird behavior and personally i've and personally i have personally had enough with feeling weird and uncomfortable when she comes around and i'm the only one that's kind of talk taking the blame when she found out about it and she's acting like the victim and um and i'm just and i'm just a straight up bitch for no reason which isn't the case i'm only a bitch if someone does me wrong or i get a bad vibe so her playing the victim is unbelievable thoughts uh one just for this she's not the asshole but she could be coming i see this on the bachelor and bachelorette a lot is that there's like a villain in the group that's pursuing the
Starting point is 00:51:21 the bachelor bachelorette and then someone gets so envious that this person's doing well that they become worse than that person trying to destroy them and it always gets your ass sent home so like you know it's like uh there's a course our movie where this guy chases the person who killed his wife and daughter and then in the end they're fighting in the mud and he can't tell him apart and so she's just got to watch out for that wow wow that was that was all set um i had a we had a friend and she would tell all of our girlfriends that she was like a mom to us but we were the same age and she would do a lot of things like this where she would be like very nice to all the guys and like we didn't realize that it was making the girls feel uncomfortable because we
Starting point is 00:52:04 liked it so much that she we just thought she was just like a really nice person but in hindsight uh it was a little much i think yeah i don't think this i don't think she's being the asshole for being a bitch to her but i agree with jt that i think if you get too deep into it you might get yourself into some trouble i think they i think the the best thing to do is just ignore it well if it makes like that's my problem is i can't fucking ignore it when this person's all around and and it's making my boyfriend uncomfortable it's making me uncomfortable it's making everyone uncomfortable and clearly no one fucking likes her so are you are you fickle we look at emily's phone it's just black speaking from memory i had one buddy whose girlfriend was flirty and like
Starting point is 00:52:52 to a point where me and the guys would be like dude that was like too much did you feel the way she like hugged you or did you hear that thing she said at the wedding and then but my buddy was like so happy with her still is they have like a wonderful life together so for whatever i let that one go but then i had another friend whose girlfriend was like that and she was also making a miserable so for that one i like i said something because i was like there's no upside here it's all you said something to the girlfriend or the guy the guy no i think her prickles boyfriend should say something if he's uncomfortable and it didn't go well by the way they ended up breaking up but i didn't yeah it didn't make him we had a good relationship where i could talk i didn't he's a
Starting point is 00:53:27 rare guy where you could talk to him about this stuff but uh it wasn't it didn't land well yeah i don't think it ever does yeah i think i think either frickle should talk to her boyfriend or frickle's boyfriend should talk to the girl i don't think the girl should have any correspondence with the other girl no yeah just don't try not to hang out with them it's tough what's the role in the friend group. Sometimes the girl just spawns in and there's not a lot you can do. Well, she's dating the best friend, too.
Starting point is 00:53:56 Oh. Yeah. I think you gotta tell your... I think Frickles should tell her boyfriend. To talk to his buddy and be like, yo, get your lady in check. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:54:09 Is she giving those hugs? You ever have a friend's girlfriend who's like, hugs? Yeah, you're like... Should I bend down? If someone... Don't hug me like that. It was medical.
Starting point is 00:54:18 it was medically motivated if someone kissed my boyfriend's collarbone i'm i'm throwing i think that's weird yeah unless she like works for chanel and like travels a lot yeah you know the kiss on the cheeks kind of stuff okay yeah i see what you're going for maybe she's european yeah oh yeah that's true if she was french we'd all be like what are you even talking about it sounds dumb um all right fantastic should we it's just clearly it's One of these bitches clears, the girl's just European. Fucking dips her fries in mayo. Do you guys want to do sayings that don't exist first or words that sound nothing like they are?
Starting point is 00:54:59 I'm so into both, I can't pick. Should we just, we'll start with sayings. Yeah. I meant that sincerely. Are you guys ready? Yeah. Yeah. Are you going to do this from memory?
Starting point is 00:55:10 Yeah. Wow. That might be a first. Yeah, I've never seen anything like this. Oh, well, we'll see if I can do it. i'm excited let's hear it um oh so do i do all three no we do we do like a like a yeah all right which one do i want to start with i thought of this one today uh quickest way out of a ticket is to tell the truth i like that yeah i think when you get in trouble for a small thing it's
Starting point is 00:55:33 always worse to cover it up whenever you get in trouble for a small thing immediately tell who's ever calling you out the exact truth don't try to make yourself seem better and they will like you more because of it i agree we used to say take your beating early like if you just if you just admit to it you look like the bigger guy and it's harder to be mad at someone who's like yeah i fucked that up i agree i love it uh mine's don't wax the chest that breeds you basically respect your dad don't wax the chest that's fantastic that's awesome kind of rolls off the tongue yeah i was looking at sayings and just adding different words all right thank you was that from respect your elders i think it's like don't bite the hand that don't bite the head
Starting point is 00:56:19 that makes more sense um i've got don't build a dam if you can drain the river nice yeah so that's awesome don't just do a temporary stop stopping measure when you can just eliminate the problem yeah entirely uh i got cutting a lizard's legs off won't make it a snake i think a lot of times we try and we try and turn someone into what we want them to be but sometimes we just have to let them be a lizard that's good this is sort of similar to that thematically assholes can't smell like you can't if someone sucks you'll never be able to tell them why they suck they're immune to it yeah that's awesome i haven't thought about that or obviously i haven't thought about any of these before if you had yeah yeah um you can't judge
Starting point is 00:57:12 a bro by his calves basically calves are the toughest muscle to build so if someone has lackluster calves it doesn't matter yeah is that true they probably still live they are pretty i know i know guys that are that are pretty well rounded physically but have not cracked their calves yet it's tough and i don't think you know they might have you know not the best calves but they could have huge delts yeah and you got to take that into account amen uh i've got don't pour red wine in my white wine and tell me it's rosé wow that's profound yeah will's like are you french yeah i will's notoriously good at this segment i went there once yeah so you know just be honest with me all right yeah um i like to not know where you're going with that
Starting point is 00:58:00 i got a big storm exposes lazy roofers so like it's easy to like get away with not being good at something or being like a bad guy when things are easy but like when things start to go bad you can tell if someone or you can tell who they really are yeah brings out their true colors yeah i got a you wouldn't use sailboat parts to fix a powerboat nice and that's basically like when you're using advice or getting advice sometimes make sure it's not antiquated make sure it fits your situation and make sure it's coming from you know something that's to your level yeah amen uh easy come loose load which which means that things that are worth doing are hard so if it's an easy come you're probably not going to have the best load yeah but if it's hard
Starting point is 00:58:54 to make you come uh is you can have an excellent top of your load yeah that's great all right i've got i've got michael collins never touched the moon he was a guy in the apollo mission oh no sorry no that guy also was cool but no the guy that was on the apollo mission that didn't actually leave the ship he had to stay in while they went and touched the moon so it's like sometimes you can play an important role even if you don't get the validation nice of so much credit to that guy too for not having like a scotty pippin third act where he was just like you know i did most of the work yeah yeah yeah yeah i uh i've said this a million times but my neighbor uh mr hancock was supposed to be uh with neil when he went up there but buzz aldrin took his spot because he was like
Starting point is 00:59:43 uh he was like six feet you had to be 5 10 or something to be in the shuttle i guess and if you bring up buzz aldrin around and be like fucking he's like that guy's a fucking candy notorious ball buster buzz aldrin yeah he does not he does not rock he also won't swear on a bible that he uh that he walked on the moon who buzz aldrin really yeah this guy this there's like one reporter for some reason is like really set on getting him to oh i've seen this yeah the guy like harasses him in the street yeah is that the dude that buzz smoked though he put a hand on him he's done it like multiple times then like his second try was like i'll give you five thousand dollars if you swore that you walked on the moon you like won't do it i mean money's no good here
Starting point is 01:00:21 pal my my final one is don't wipe before you poop so like even if you're being proactive if you haven't done the like initial thing that you need to get done just doing something for the sake of doing it doesn't make any progress amen yeah you guys you guys are all so profound I was talking about calves and loads I like the load one I like I like the load one Yeah
Starting point is 01:00:45 Thanks Yeah Do you like load, Emily? Whoa Whoa Easy, dude What the fuck? Never
Starting point is 01:00:53 Just totally misfired Sorry Your brain went scrambied eggs, bro Do you Do you like Do you like a load? Can you cut that? I didn't mean to say
Starting point is 01:01:04 No, I did like the saying I thought it was a great one Oh I think you all I think you all You did the you did them well yeah apologies all right let's do let's do some words let's let's do some words that sound like nothing or how would you even phrase words that sound
Starting point is 01:01:27 nothing like what they mean yeah i love this one did you was it was kind of hard it's super tough i had a tough time the opposite we've been doing the opposite and people keep asking for this the opposite is way easier you know what i did i just spent i picked words that i used incorrectly for a long time okay yeah i like that yeah yeah good angle all right you want to start us off sure a cliche yeah yeah i mean i guess it's a french word but it's in the english dictionaries now and i just uh i don't know if that's actually true but i i used it for years not knowing it just meant like commonplace or overdone yeah i thought it was something else yeah yeah what what did you think it was i can't hear i was in seventh grade when i started busting it out wrong yeah i think
Starting point is 01:02:07 i you know what i i think i thought it meant french yeah i used uh i will always calls me out because i use semantics a lot like if like if i want to get out of a conversation i'll just be like all right semantics and he's like that's not it's not how it works he really leans on that yeah yeah yeah that's a good one uh aplomb okay i don't know if i'm saying it correctly it means uh self-confidence or assurance what kind of fucking word is that that's a new one i don't even know that word existed dude i either i found it i was like it's a bullshit word a plumb sounds like a bomb yeah yeah i guess yeah no doesn't work yeah it's neutral on the webster cut it cut it all right i got one how about a little chili
Starting point is 01:02:50 yeah it's hot and spicy chili's hot and spicy yeah oh that's that is a good one oh whoa yeah i got a i got cocktail i just feel like there's nothing about that that should mean like fun fun drink yeah like a cocktail if you didn't know what it was it would be like a pretty grotesque image to think about yeah or like a part of a bird yeah i don't know if this one sounds like exactly what it is or if it sounds opposite of what it is and i'm not sure if many people know the word so i'm gonna ask you guys and then you tell me if yeah skullduggery never heard it oh i have heard it but i don't know what it means if you had to guess what skullduggery is i would say like i would say it's like a an evil headmaster i've been to a lot of skullduggery i think it's
Starting point is 01:03:39 like secret agent stuff it's like espionage yeah okay does that sound like what it is um no it sounds like grave digging right yeah or like didn't you have uh didn't you have the toilet paper with the words on it that would like tell you i feel like someone was telling me that they had like toilet paper and it would have a new word each day and it would have the definition so like when you were on the toilet you would like read them and you would like be able to expand your vocabulary yeah that was me that's pretty funny there's totally different stuff that's crap i never heard of that yeah someone told me that they were strider's dad was real hard on him about words like he would his dad would come home his dad was the man but his dad
Starting point is 01:04:18 would come home from work and be like what new like you need to learn 10 new words today that's a lot i know it feels like i can't remember a single fucking word from my like middle school vocabulary books that we had to get on every week yeah me neither those are so dumb like they should actually be words that legitimately would expand your vocabulary yeah that people actually use the the only one i remembered from middle school is rapscallion yeah that one stuck with me that's a nice one like just like a freaking rascal you know like a guy who's just like you know like a town drunk up to no good yeah yeah he's he's engaging in a lot of tomfoolery oh god yeah hijinks hijinks a gutter snipe that's yeah for like a street rascal really i like that one yeah
Starting point is 01:05:04 uh this i think this sounds kind of like how's he but i've always just found it to be an awkward word is hottie hottie yeah like arrogantly superior and disdainful like yeah how do you spell that he's acting all haughty i'm like so he's what how do you spell h-a-u-g-h-t-y interesting yeah like you're acting haughty you're like thank you which i guess is kind of arrogant that's a great one yeah yeah it kind of makes it feels like like you're on you're on fire can you stop being all haughty right now sorry i was born this way what do you got that's a good one i got ignorant yeah ignorant sounds like kind of fancy yeah it's kind of a fancy word to describe someone who is someone who's like misinformed
Starting point is 01:05:50 yeah like like dumb like if you say dumb but like ignorant is like a yeah it's too highfalutin it's a high it's like it's like well he still sounds kind of smart yeah it's like oh i'm ignorant like you know what i mean that sounds way better than being dumb especially ignoramus too you ignoramus yeah it's like thank you yeah uh my next one is terrific because i feel like if you didn't know what it meant it sounds like terrifying and like horrific but it's like good and i've never i've never liked that yeah it's never sat with me um loquacious means talkative i always to me to me that sounds laid back yeah say it again loquacious yeah so i used it one time i was like owen wilson he's loquacious i meant he's laid back and then my friend was like you don't
Starting point is 01:06:34 know what that means it means talking dude i saw jt at the club last night he was kicking it he He was loquacious. He was having a mellow night. Dude, they should change the definition because that sounds way cooler. Yeah, I agree. It's like molasses. Yeah. Loquacious.
Starting point is 01:06:47 I can see Snoop Dogg saying that. Yeah. I'm sitting at the club being all loquacious. Voracious. Loquacious. It's like an action Bronson lyric. Yeah. You rhyme with spaceship, maybe.
Starting point is 01:06:56 Yeah. We can write it to him. Yeah. Inflammable. Yeah. Super flammable. Yeah, I didn't like. Inflammable?
Starting point is 01:07:04 Yeah. Means more flammable? Yeah. Yeah. That's ridiculous. Doesn't that, that's stupid. I don't like it yeah
Starting point is 01:07:09 yeah what do you got Willie um I got I actually wrote six so go rip rip baby
Starting point is 01:07:17 rip rip them off um uh armoire yeah that sounds way fancier than what it is
Starting point is 01:07:23 it's just a dresser yeah it's just a dresser that should be knight's armor yeah yeah yeah yeah
Starting point is 01:07:29 yeah exactly I'm jousting armoire tomorrow armoire do you have my armoire okay yeah i've got uh bracket is a weird one in the context of like the march mat this is topical
Starting point is 01:07:46 one yeah but like i feel like it makes me think of like a little tool or something which i know it kind of also is yeah i don't like the extension of it to like a tournament yep uh chimney what the hell it sounds like a guy like in england or something yeah like what's that down at the pub with chimney last night yeah yeah like chimney yeah that one pisses me off um for my for my catholic folks out there i got eucharist yeah eucharist sounds way more important i mean i'm not a fan yeah my last one is a sneaker like oh yeah yeah it just it i feel like they're loud when you're on the court and like there's nothing sneaky about them why do we call them sneakers that's a good point i two more kicking off armoire is a like au pair for a nanny yeah yeah what are
Starting point is 01:08:34 we doing and then a governess for a nanny yeah like back in the day yeah yeah like my my friend zoe was an au pair uh in spain this summer this past summer and it's like it sounds very formal and there was nothing formal about what zoe was doing with these that sounded like she was doing bad stuff i just felt like she was she was just like taking them on she was just like taking them on walks it's a big attitude to like take on where you're like no i'm an au pair and it's like why are you making me say that yeah uh i got a big one big cultural american one football i was thinking about that and it doesn't make any i think it's not much foot in there no goals i think it's kids like when they brought it over it like it's devolved into gridiron football but i think
Starting point is 01:09:16 the rules were more similar to like like irish footy or like whatever they play over there that's actually kind of a good one gridiron doesn't that just mean like a football field yeah it's just a field sounds like like welding equipment what about the word germane yeah germane
Starting point is 01:09:37 that means like it's if something's not germane it's not related to what we were talking about okay so germane means it's related but that to me germane doesn't sound like yeah it sounds foreign or it sounds like german or something about
Starting point is 01:09:51 you know, bacteria. I wouldn't say it sounds germane. But if someone's like, that's not germane, I'm like, it sounds like a jelly on me or something. Yeah. You know what always kind of spooks me is infamous. Yeah. It feels like there should be, like, a nobody.
Starting point is 01:10:07 Yeah, because infamous is that you're hated. Yeah. You still are super famous. Famous in a bad way. Yeah. I used to think original meant, like... Alright, this is gonna be... i used to think original meant the opposite i'm like that's so original well you were just you were just around a lot of sarcastic people you just grew up you just grew up with a bunch of
Starting point is 01:10:30 like new jersey women they were using it in the correct way but i when i would say it i was like yeah when we were in when we were growing up because i i only had sisters and like they talked to each other differently than my friends would talk to each other and for them like normal was like a big compliment like if like they would be like that's not like that's not normal or like if they were asking if a girl was cool they'd be like is she normal but i feel like like you don't want to be normal it was weird that's weird it was very strange that's so stepfordy i think it was like they just wanted they the most important thing was just fitting in it wasn't like being cool or anything it was like are they normal like can we like be
Starting point is 01:11:09 around them which was weird yeah well this has just been a blast thank you guys so much for coming on thank you guys yeah really cool kicking it uh guys we will see you next wednesday have a great rest your week and weekend listen to their podcast yeah going do you guys want to plug uh we're on tour oh fantastic oh yeah sacramento and san francisco in april and then fort worth and then tempe and then arlington virginia and then we gotta have you guys on our pod tempe definitely dude i was uh i used to clean pools in high school and uh early college and your guys was like a staple podcast yeah it's just it's just an easy listen thank you yeah it means a lot yeah all right thank you guys
