Expect killings, red spilling and flesh ripping impressive in it The death bringing its head spinning just kidding every word in this songs about two grown men dressed up as a bird and a dog Yes, once again rungo tell your friend Romesh Ranganathan a wolf for now what Tom Davis and Robin Romesh Like a clown it turns up at a kid's birthday

What time is it where you are, Amigo? It's seven, no it's not, it's 11.23 in the morning. Early, that's early in, it's 7.23 in in London. Yes kind of early in LA. Isn't it? That's like LA LA ins LA

So why can't what's it Hi rocks and all that stuff? You did? Right? Yeah, I'm doing it again, actually. I'm doing it. This is a bit this is actually isn't so by because it's so bright. What is it? Yes, I've had a so I can Barry's boot camp and all that stuff. Soul cycle. That's what it is. So so so cycle
Starting point is 00:02:26 Yeah, I should say by the way before and I was saying to you before we start I don't know is that any mild anxiety attack? I was literally like standing chance caffeine in grace. Grace is going for a dump We like to sort of as a family sort of convey around like we're sort of telling stories around a campfire And then all look at the poo she's done. And my heart's like, like it was the next that you're on my heart burst out my chest, my heart wasn't this very jumper, this gray jumper, and you could see my heart outside like, like, boom, boom, boom, boom, like that. Scary man. Yeah, I mean, you told me about it before the podcast, I've got
Starting point is 00:03:00 been to see I'm very surprised that you're explaining what happened on the podcast. I mean, it sounds like well, yeah, I mean, yeah, but listen, this as to see I'm very surprised that you're explaining what happened on the podcast to business. I mean it sounds like Well, yeah, I mean, yeah, but listen this as far as I'm concerned We gave up the fact that we had a private friendship as soon as we started this podcast. Yeah, I'm happy to know We don't have a we don't have a private friendship. We we have a we have a public friendship Yeah, we see each other in between the podcast, but you know, well, you know because you've been literally far around the world I can't wait to sort of feast eyes on you and just hold you man.
Starting point is 00:03:27 I think I'm seeing you literally next week right? You are, you are. The 28th, oh my gosh. I'm gonna literally just devour you. I'm gonna soak you in. It's very, it's that mate, it's tricky times out here. Like first of all thank you, I don't know how many American listeners we've but thank you if we came to the shows so far. We've done Boston, Chicago
Starting point is 00:03:51 Boston Chicago US fucking literally cuz man you're an American tour That's what we all dream of do we can I just say? Yeah, it's like you've literally just gone. Yeah. Yeah, so far we've done Boston Chicago, Los Angeles That's a fucking cool thing You fucking live in this brother. Yeah Literally, right? Yeah, you are like Jerry McGuire. You know when he's flying between the cities watching Cuba Good and jr. Play. Yeah, and and can I just got your own Cuba?
Starting point is 00:04:21 Good and jr. You've got fucking my teeth move out with you. Yeah. Yeah. Martin's been killing it. But I'm going to say thank you to all the people that have approached me in the street and like recognize me and stuff. And by that, have you been getting some big love? No, no, nothing.
Starting point is 00:04:35 Really? Although there's a couple of people at the Boston show. They were like proper like task master for now. It's like taskmasters big out here, man. That's like, Oh really? My dream is to go to Boston. Boston's an incredible city an incredible city right it's great there's a guy outside the theater with like a load of Taskmaster merch and he said I've come to see you off the
Starting point is 00:04:52 back of Taskmaster and I thought well you know if you if off the strength of me throwing a watermelon on the ground you've come to watch this you're about to have a very sad evening but yeah no Boston good. Chicago was what a city. Windy city right? Windy city. Was it windy? Did it live up to its name? It was quite windy. I mean it's blizzardy is what I describe. It was minus 10 the whole time we were there. I know and then they just operate as normal. It's just like they're just used to it. So it's like everybody's like you're getting ubers everywhere and you're going out into the fucking Arctic to go and like travel around the city it
Starting point is 00:05:29 was I went out for a walk that lasted seven and a half minutes you even look cooler for some reason I actually generally think you've got the edge yeah you've got the edge that I think you've been looking for do you know what I just I'm different out here man I built Do you know what? I just I'm different out here, man. I built different. Yeah, I just I feel like shit, man. Maybe I was born in the. You feel like you know who you are? Like, yeah, that that voice. It I couldn't do that voice for you.
Starting point is 00:05:56 No, listen, man. That you're like Brody from you're like Brody from Point Break. You know, like like genuinely, I feel like I've left that, you know, I can't even do my vocal cords. Can even do it. Cause this is your new voice. Yeah. You know what I'm saying? We just flew into Chicago, it's minus 10. Martin just said something funny. We broke open a sandwich each and just sat back
Starting point is 00:06:20 and watched the blizzard roll. You know, like it's crazy out here, man. You sort of travel across the U S and you get a different cities and the climates, they've all got their own different microclimate, both culturally and environmentally is sister hell of a thing, man. You know, like woken up in the morning and just like, had your breakfast chat with someone in Boston and then broke bread that evening with someone in Chicago crazy man.
Starting point is 00:06:43 That's an American tour. I was, I was eating salad in Boston in the morning and tucking into a chowder in Chicago in the evening, man. And that is just what my life is now, do you know what I mean? It's like, you know, big up all the SoCal people. You could get away with doing this now. You could get away with doing this now. You could just give me my new, you know,
Starting point is 00:07:00 like when people go to university or they go to a new college or something and they try and completely reinvent their personality, try and leave their past behind. Yeah, but I think that's you, you're like that guy and you've done it really well. I think you could wear thongs all year round. Yeah, I mean if I didn't have severe plantar fasciitis,
Starting point is 00:07:16 yeah, I'd be absolutely slushed. Is it still bad? I need to get Chloe on the score there. My running training has taken a severe kick in the... You're still killing weights, yeah? You're still busting weights. Like, listen... I feel like I'm doing a podcast with Jay Atherton now.
Starting point is 00:07:32 Yeah, but listen, man, wherever you are, do you know what I mean? You've still got to throw iron, do you know what I mean? Because at the end of the day, your physique doesn't know you're on holiday. I mean, I'm not on holiday, I was working. Yeah, what's going on? It's me Romsky, yeah, I gotta say something, yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:48 I gotta say something, don't matter what the temp is, whether my foot is killing me, man's gotta smash his goals. Yeah, listen, let me tell you something, a little bit of searing pain in the heel is not gonna stop me from frying down and getting my physique chiseled. You know what I mean, that's not what I'm about. You know, some people would face this level face this level of adversity and, and,
Starting point is 00:08:07 and misfortune and things, you know what? I'm not going to do it. That's not me. It's just not me. You know, uh, bench press this morning. I bench pressed my aspirations. Oh, it's so cool. I did about 20 squats.
Starting point is 00:08:24 I was just lifting determination. Uh, you know, it's just, it's is like so cool. I did about 20 squats, I was just lifting determination. You know, it's just, it's crazy. Sleeping that way. Yeah. And now you're in LA? Yeah, it's a vibe out here, man. You know, the Californians, they like their comedy and I'm happy to give it to them, you know.
Starting point is 00:08:39 It's just the... This ROM is so cool. What are you gonna do when you get back to England? Do you think it'll fade away? This Rob is so cool. What are you going to do when you get back to England? Do you think it will fade away? I've got two options here. One is I'll revert. Literally as soon as a plane touches the tarmac and heath,
Starting point is 00:08:56 I'm like, oh, that was a bit of a bumpy landing. No, no, no. I don't see that. Or I'm like one of these people that when they go traveling, they come back and they're a completely different person. I'm just like my whole energy is different. I think that's the guy I'm different on the podcast my stand-up becomes different the next thing you know, like when you come see me back in the UK I'm like hey, man. So Look, thank you for coming and watch me shoot the breeze I guess you know some people would say it's arrogant to think you should just get paid money for saying what you think but
Starting point is 00:09:26 Let me tell you what I think, you know and all that Yeah, the intrinsic ease the intrinsic nature of the therapy in which my mind develops a comical yet humorous Observation and throws out fire and laughter wherever I can. Yeah, man. That's just me. I'm rumsky. Yeah. Yeah Have you got, how many sharp tooth necklaces have you brought since you've been out there? Well I've got seven, but I need, I feel it's pretentious to wear more than five at a time. You've got like a whole mouth, whole sharp mouth of necklaces. I'm actually heading out into town later to pick up a whole lower jaw. Just have that sort of round the neck. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:10:06 No man, it's a cool you. Yeah, I'm excited about that. It's a bit weird out here though, because obviously LA has had the fires and stuff, but also the thing that's happened in the last day is TikTok has gone under. Yeah. TikTok's down. I'm clicking on it now. Although I've says TikTok is temporary unavailable We're working hard to resolve this issue because apparently just before I logged on to this
Starting point is 00:10:36 The band's been lifted So hold up the bands been lifted by the man. So long sport it like there was rumors of mr. Beast buying it and stuff, right? Yeah, so last night I was, as I was about to go on stage, I clicked on TikTok, just to see what happened. And it went, we can't, TikTok doesn't work in America anymore. Oh yeah. I can't remember the exact wording, but it's like TikTok's gone. And then now, uh, TikTok, it's the latest headlines here, a TikTok
Starting point is 00:11:02 working to restore service. Trump has assured an executive order to lift the ban, basically. And it's causing it. So is it Trump who's canceled it? No, I think, and if I'm wrong about this, which is highly likely, Biden passed the law to ban TikTok, and Trump is trying to issue
Starting point is 00:11:23 an executive order to over, to overrule that place. So hold up like, but why are they cancelling it? Cause of the, cause of the Chinese sort of angle. Yeah. They want it to be American owned, I think. Oh, wow. So Americans going to buy a ticked.
Starting point is 00:11:36 Well, I don't know, but like they're talking about Elon Musk, maybe buying it. But then like last night it was this, all these American content creators just doing like their last Their last videos and then just like all the comments are gonna meet it's like these people are dying man So people just going out so listen Just want to say thank you for you know, it's just been a little account I started off by kind of Reviewing, you know different types of dried fruits. I didn't know it was going to get to the level it's got to.
Starting point is 00:12:09 And as I look, thank you so much. It has changed my life. You can catch me on YouTube, Snapchat, Instagram, X. So for what are you crying about TikTok? I think that the thing that, mate, we could do like just to clean out a fucking TikTok is such a sewer at times Isn't it like well somebody did make the point that tick tock is in terms of feedback Maybe the most poisonous of all the social media now, but have you been on tick tock like I don't know No, I can't like can I say I was on tick tock enough work because a friend of the show bevo
Starting point is 00:12:44 Has recently become a porn star. No, don't. So, like some listeners basically DM me saying, have you seen me? Have they sent you the link? No, I've not watched that link. I've seen him talk about what he's doing now. I've not watched the link of him as a porn star. I don't need that in my life.
Starting point is 00:13:04 Can I tell you something that happens in the video? Go on. After he ejaculates, he says, hopefully you know the rules now. Oh my God. Jesus. Isn't it like, what's the film with um
Starting point is 00:13:30 Boogie nights, it's kind of bevo's life is like boogie nights. There's like fucking a modern equivalent I it's like Start eating roast potatoes in 2022 gradually so and build yourself enough for people's guy This kid seems nice so within two years three or two years two and a half years To be flushed out the bottom of the fucking porn industry feels like a fucking load why are we as a society now I don't know it's like it's like genuinely it's like a fucking black mirror episode or something yeah I can't I can't understand what the hell's going on and then because it's like trending
Starting point is 00:14:02 everybody's sharing it you know I've been sent it so many times. All right. What a B-boy. And, um, yeah. Yeah. And like, yeah. So you get sent that loads of times. And then I saw a tick tock from him just like buzzing that he's trending and
Starting point is 00:14:16 people are going to our B-boys like he's B-boy so excited cause he thinks he's back and then, then people go, but he doesn't realize why and he sort of think, I don't know if it matters to him Why I don't I'm not convinced that the reason that people Pay attention to him matters to him in the slide I think I think views are all he cares about yeah, and that's all it matters. It's ego. Have I dropped off? Yeah, and so it's just so so So incredibly grim and you summarized it
Starting point is 00:14:48 perfectly right this guy is trending for having sex with Bonnie Blue who apparently had sex with a thousand guys in like one session yeah and his his starting point was eating potatoes without chewing. That has happened in about 18 months. Also, in modern culture, to put it in like, the fact he was eating potatoes without chewing feels significantly more high brow than what he's doing now. It feels like somehow he's sunk from there. It's weird that we're looking back at Bevo's Halcyon days.
Starting point is 00:15:23 Do you know when he was doing like, do you know when he was doing his really great stuff? Like this is like his Godfather Part Three. This stuff with Bonnie Blue. It's absolutely insane. And by the way, Bonnie Blue is like, this insane that Bonnie Blue thing. It's very difficult to know how to feel about it.
Starting point is 00:15:39 Cause like, you know, the truth is, you know, if anybody doesn't know she's regularly like, like posting up somewhere, I don't know their source. Man, I've tried to find it she's regularly like, like posting up somewhere. I don't know their source. My aunt tried to find it. But no, I'm joking. But she'll say, she'll go, I'm here. You can come and have sex with me. And then she's just like blokes queuing up and she's trying to hit like higher and higher numbers. And, you know, people are sort of saying, I think it's disgusting. And the truth of it is, is that it's up to her
Starting point is 00:16:06 what she does with her body. It is up to her. However depraved you think it is, it is up to her what she does. But one, there are significant health risks to what she's doing, not only for herself, but everybody else involved, right? And two, a lot of the time she's targeting people
Starting point is 00:16:25 right on the edge of legality. She's deliberately, she's hitting up young men. Young guys, and so they don't, and there isn't any like, whenever you do a TV appearance or something like that, you are talked through the whole thing. You have to sign a contract, you know everything that's involved, right? With this, you know, what's on the internet is there forever. Do you know what I mean? I don't know what the long-term effects of like having something like having that
Starting point is 00:16:58 that digital footprint of you being in a queue outside. You put also, mate, the young guys is one thing, but some of them are like older than us, and that's saying like, you know, and they're like, you're like, you should know better. Where are you in your life that you're standing in a queue to? Oh, so there is older guys doing it?
Starting point is 00:17:16 Yeah, I read a thing. Oh, cool, cool, cool. All right, no less. I read a thing about a guy who was 49, and he said he waited for three hours to get to the front of the queue. It's so bleak and then lost all like courage and everything and apparently he said they were really, really nice. So someone put an arm around me and said, look, you know, do you want to go and get
Starting point is 00:17:38 some lunch and come back? Oh no. So he went and got some lunch. He went to Pret and then he said he came back and he said um... Imagine, sorry, imagine sitting in Pret and just tucking into a sandwich guy and just going to ready myself to get back there and give it another go. Like what the hell man? Like just sat there around normal people just having their fucking lunch and you do you busy morning?
Starting point is 00:18:05 Yeah, yeah, that's been in the queue for the old body blue shagging, but She the old my bottle drops. I thought I'd top up and some carbs and protein before I go there and give it another guy It's a little tuna fish baguette. So that the cute. Yeah, we should come out. That should mark me and win up I know that I got stay hydrated because you know my age. I was gonna come out porridge. I've got That should mark me a winner. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no which he said, one of her breaks. You got like a video and then he showed the video of chatting to him. Yeah, I mean, it's just all a bit, when you sort of see the, just the sheer amount of people, and also what do you talk about in that queue?
Starting point is 00:18:56 What is that? Do you know what I mean? Like. Can I just say this? I know people in the government, it's not all men. What the fuck is wrong with men? What is wrong with men? What is wrong with us?
Starting point is 00:19:07 I'm telling you, if I found out someone I knew was in my social group had been to that, I think so little of them. I'd be like, what? Like you queued up for six hours to have sex with a fucking girl young, like young enough to be your daughter. Like for what?
Starting point is 00:19:20 Like you stopped doing a podcast with him. Just I'm just asking. Well, I had to check you're definitely in America Is this you round the corner from it was on the same day and round the corner from where you record your radio one Yeah, it's a weird one flow. I thought Romesh is talking differently because he was an American bit turns out He was just with a come headed down to the old Show it should we top on tile? Oh, that's annoying. You're in another group that I've been
Starting point is 00:19:49 I turned up to have a bit of a fun time with body blue. It's a fucking three-hour queue I'm only gonna be 30 seconds. Oh, shut up Josh after bent is he king mate? It's uh, yeah, it's insane. What's up, Spotify? This is Holly. I remember this one time we were on tour. We didn't have any guitar picks and we didn't have time to go to the store.
Starting point is 00:20:19 So we placed an order on Prime and it got there the next day, ready for the show. Whatever you're into, it's on Prime and it got there the next day ready for the show. Whatever you're into, it's on Prime. Do you know the people who haven't changed up at all by the way? Look we're talking about the family by the way who I found for a long time really really annoying the family. The family. What family? Oh yeah the family. That's the bugbear family of yours I don't know I'm gonna straighten something out here a bit right I actually there's a part of me I still find them annoying I still like can't quite get my head around how they're treated in day-to-day life because the sort of gurney and the sort
Starting point is 00:20:58 of leaping about and what but I will say this there's a strange dignity in the fact they kept doing what they're doing and it has The bar has dropped low enough now that you consider that to be high art, that's what's happened So I've been only fans or any stuff that they're still keeping it relatively sort of like family-friendly On a site for all that extensive purposes now What a compliment for them, but I just you know I thought what you did was shit But then I saw that somebody arranged to have a hundred guys like shagging this hotel room and actually it's made me realize that What you do is actually okay. Sorry. I mean I'd pay more
Starting point is 00:21:39 I probably would subscribe to only fans if it was the three of them a thousand guys Just yeah watch them dance to dance with them do you know actually while we're talking about uh and i know we've sort of we've we've texted a little bit there but while we're talking about that sort of odious side to social media um weirdly we both mentioned this this morning, the KSI, well, like the, this, the, the, the, Misfits Boxing, right? I've got very sort of like up and down thoughts about Misfits Boxing.
Starting point is 00:22:12 There's a part of me that thinks, you know, it's bringing boxing to a wider market and whatever. There's also a part of me. That's why, I, I, I, I agree with you. I initially thought this is horrendous and why are they doing this? But now It feels like it's raised boxing's profile. I know that you know, these people aren't real fighters, you know in the traditional sense
Starting point is 00:22:36 But it has made boxing more popular, right? It has but I mean I don't quite comprehend like how all of them seem to have a belt and I don't quite understand Also the other thing the other thing is I know this is not misfits but Jake Paul, the Jake Paul Mike Tyson thing. I've got to say I don't know obviously it's impossible for us to know the ins and outs of like how that fight came about. I just found the whole thing so sad. Yeah, the only thing I'd say about this, I did for a long time. Number one, I think that was a completely written fight
Starting point is 00:23:12 on the basis that the amount of times- That's what a lot of people are saying that it was scripted for him to lose. Yeah, and also that Mike Tyson at no point ever loaded to, you could see him even, you know, but I will say the only thing I thought of a saving grace was that number one, Jake Paul never unloaded on him and number two, Mike Tyson, a very controversial character for a number of reasons, but as somebody who comes from his background,
Starting point is 00:23:37 earned the amount of money he did, but also got swindled out of a lot of money in his career. He had a lot of people who took a lot of money out of him donking allegedly. But there's a part of me that thinks that that was just a payday for Mike Tyson who has been very supportive of Jake Paul over the years. Personally, I found that just to say the misfits thing I kind of think has sort of slipped into WWE sort of, which I love WWE. Well, let's talk about this openly, because I can tell, even though you and I had a text conversation about it,
Starting point is 00:24:10 I can tell you're feeling hesitant, because we like both of the people involved, right? But what we're talking about. Yeah, I think KSI is a show. He's a fucking, like, to make what he's made there is a hell of a show, man, to put that on, right? Yes. Wayne Bridge is a personal friend. Uh, and I like, I like Wayne a lot.
Starting point is 00:24:29 I think Wayne's a really good guy. I this in what we're talking about with other stuff, that video, when it came out, I found it utterly really quite, quite disturbing. I felt really sorry for Wayne. Like, okay, let's, let's just describe what the video is so it's it's KSI and Wayne Bridge facing off yeah and then KSI starts talking about what happened to Wayne Bridge with it you know with his ex or whatever and then he starts to
Starting point is 00:24:59 chant and it's like and and obviously you, the way it's done is it very clearly, to me, it seems so incredibly obvious that they've agreed that this is what the conversation's going to be. And they sort of, there's a little bit of afters that's obviously all like, was obviously all planned to set up this fight. Yeah, I get that to an extent. I don't know, I don't know, man. I don't think, would Wayne have known
Starting point is 00:25:25 that that thing there's gonna, he's gonna bring that up at this point. Don't get me wrong, the face-off, the fucking press conference, but to bring that up in front of all those people in a packed house, and I know that there's an element of what Wayne's doing is acting. But I found it utterly just,
Starting point is 00:25:46 have you seen a video after where he's been interviewed as he's walking away? No, no, who's been interviewed? Wayne, and I found that really quite hard to, look, I've known Wayne for a long time, and that subject matter, for intents and purposes, is a pretty fucking hard, like me, we talk a lot about mental health, we talk a lot intents and purposes, is a pretty fucking hard, like me,
Starting point is 00:26:05 we talk a lot about mental health, we talk a lot about rejection and stuff. And what Wayne went through there, in the public eye, I think was awful, do you know what I mean? No matter what actually happened, because none of us really know, but it was a really fucking hard time. It just shocked me a little bit
Starting point is 00:26:21 that that would be something that, and I know that they have to sell tickets and I know all that. It just felt kind of, and then when Wayne was interviewed afterwards, I just felt really sorry for him, man. I just genuinely- Well, okay, but can I just play Devers advocate here a little bit? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Right?
Starting point is 00:26:39 Is that, you know, similarly to what you said about the Mike Tyson fight, this is a situation where, you know, one, he's going to make a lot of money out of this, right? There's no doubt he'll make a decent, he'll make a decent wedge out of this. Secondly, however upsetting you found all of that, it's possible that his willingness to get involved at a point where it's going to get brought up shows that he's got closure on it. Do you know what I mean? I imagine when it came to the table, I don't know, whoever approached him and said, like, let's do this fight, I imagine they would have said, well, look, we really want to stoke the fires on
Starting point is 00:27:16 this. We're trying to sell this fight. We're going to have to bring it up. Are you going to be all right with that? But then do you not feel... And he would have... They're not going to have surprised him with it. So there's a good chance that he's made his peace with it. You know, it is part of his past and, you know, it only affects you as much as you let it. Do you not think that there's a side of it that maybe he has and like, I don't know, but my thing is, it's like, it's not just about one person here, is it? It's about the fact that, you know, Frank, you know, Frankie, the kids,
Starting point is 00:27:49 you know, his ex-misses, you know, John Terry, his family, all of this stuff. And if they have got closure and people have moved on, which is a which is a lot in any sort of, you know, knowing a few people who've been through similar things in real life and without being front and center of the papers, do you know what I mean? Is that when you bring stuff up like this and it starts becoming like public chat again, that's for me, it's like, you know, whoever's parents and everything, something like that as deep as this. It was a fucking horrible thing that happened. you know, whoever's parents and everything is something like that as deep as this it was
Starting point is 00:28:29 Horrible thing that happened no matter what and none of us like I say none of us know the real ins and outs of it but it just feels like just to sell a fight and yeah, you're gonna make some money I don't know. I I maybe i'm wrong. I don't know the way I know I'd be quite surprised if if he'd And I might be completely wrong. This might be me but I would be slightly shocked if he'd, and I might be completely wrong, this might be me, but I would be slightly shocked if he'd just gone, okay, yeah, yeah, let's just bring that up straight away out of the blue. Bro, I'd be amazed if he hasn't agreed to it. I just would be amazed if he hasn't. Because you look at his reaction when it's brought up, it's not a reaction of real shock, unless he's thought, oh, they probably will mention this.
Starting point is 00:29:06 But I think if you're gonna say something like that, when these guys have a fight, especially in misfits, they immediately then pretend they hate each other. There's some sort of manufactured- You know, like the thing that I find really like, just, I don't know, it has become like more, I mean, I don't know if you watched Darren Till
Starting point is 00:29:24 when he was going in on Tommy Fury which I found hilarious because Till's fucking amazing fighter but like the Dave Allen versus Johnny Fischer fight and I don't know if you watched it Yeah, I'm going into a lot of talking about boxing now But just as more in a modern era of like the two of them really like each other They're gonna share a ring ring they're gonna have a fight no matter what there's a lot of different theories of what happened after the fight and what we get to my point was that they both
Starting point is 00:29:50 behave like gentlemen before during and after it was like look we're two elite sports people who are gonna have a fight that's what we do we have a fight and we haven't got to sell tickets by just being awful to each other and look the KSI is incredible at doing that thing. He's very good at getting people under people's skin. But it just felt, I don't know man, I just felt quite sad for Wayne. Even if he's agreed to it, I'm like, that just feels like, I just don't feel very nice. Yeah, but I think that what we, you know, I think you just got a hope that is all it's all cool
Starting point is 00:30:26 Would you ever do the most you know the answer to that? I mean look the truth is is that There's lots of things that I currently feel like I wouldn't do I know contrary to popular belief I do say no to stuff but like you could never be too pretty like if I got to a situation where I Had to do it to pay the bills or we're not going to be able to have our house Or you know all the kids are gonna struggle then yeah, obviously I would fucking do anything I think my dignity is not above me paying the pills It's one it's probably one of the things like like actually to step into a boxing. I think about doing like a like a If you do if you do if you do not just boxing full stop, I don't think people realize how terrifying it is.
Starting point is 00:31:06 Oh mate, okay. Yeah, first of all, people talk about how fit you have to be. If you haven't done it, however fit you think you need to be, it's five, six times however fit you think you need to be to box, right? And the other thing is, when somebody's trying to hit you, I can't even explain to you how horrifying it is. It's horrific. I do it once a week with Sammy McNeese,
Starting point is 00:31:35 who's like the trainer I train with. And he sometimes does the thing where he's like, okay, we'll just do like a three minute round where you're not allowed to punch, you just gotta move, and I'm gonna fucking, I'm gonna come at you. All right, and the energy that you ensure like you know, like we the anxious energy that we burn before and yeah for a gig Right, for example is people I don't know people always other but like for three minutes where you've got like he's an ex
Starting point is 00:31:59 England boxer coming at me and I know he's not gonna hit me as hard as he can but I'm still like just Just moving and try not to get hit as he can but I'm still like just Just moving and try not to get hit buddy. I'm actually just breathing out at mass But I will say it's the one thing where I look at and go I'd like to I would like if you if I could pass that the health You know if you could be healthy enough if you want to think it's something I go that would I'd like to think not miss fits because I just I think I'm not big enough as a name to do miss fits but Like something where you just do like a no, but something where you just do like a little charity fight would be quite fun
Starting point is 00:32:32 Yeah, no that I wouldn't do that if you're talking about doing it. I thought you're asking me in terms of the financial reward Oh, no, no, no, I mean in terms of if you're asking me in terms of actually wanting to do it and hi No, I know I think I get I think I'd No, I think I'd like to take off my bucket list. Yeah. Well, it would be the last thing I took off my bucket list because I'd probably be dead. Like, I wouldn't put in the requisite training. I've done box, I've done box. You're incredible with like your, once you put your mind something in, the marathon is harder than that.
Starting point is 00:33:03 No, it's... I think the marathon's insane, mate. I think the marathon's insane. You got from where you were to do that. But I've done boxing training and on more than one occasion I've been told I don't have it. Whatever it is. They're very nice about it and they're like you can carry on doing training.
Starting point is 00:33:22 But you know, it's almost like if I reckon if I said to one of them I'm thinking about doing a fight they go actually my qualifications and regulations stipulate that I have to say to you on a basic medical level you should not engage who would be someone who if you were gonna get into the ring with for a misfits fight who would be like who be would be a fair fight there's no fair fight for me I don't know like you versus Josh's Josh is too small right Josh and I would be a close match I think I think he's kind of caught yeah but how tall is Josh you're what six three six four yeah what does that I
Starting point is 00:33:59 mean yeah I was about to say what does that matter it does matter a lot six three by the way how are are you? 6 foot. Oh, you're only 6 foot. What's Josh like? 5'11? 5'12? 5'3, 5'4. I think it would be alright. I want to know how tall is Josh Riddikham. Okay. This could be a fright. I reckon that tells you some tickets. Yeah, it's not happening. I don't know what you're talking about. You're like...
Starting point is 00:34:22 1.69 metres. So what's that? 5'7. tickets yeah it's not happening I don't you talking about you like 1.6 or meters so start five seven five foot six five foot seven okay I don't know what we're talking about anyway neither us want to do it I don't always say you suddenly trying to put this fight together I mean wolf and our boxing promotions all of a sudden emerges he's saying alongored by Mandrill. Mandrill by the way, yeah shout out Mandrill. Mandrill Pro Sheet. Have you had your electrolytes I get to send you yet? Yeah they're great. Oh do you want me to do a post?
Starting point is 00:34:54 Well Beckett did a really nice post. I don't know if you saw Beckett. He did actually get the out of Tom Davies wrong but he did an amazing post. He did get the what? He added an actual heavy lift, a weight lifter that came out but yeah, he's still the thing. Alright I'll do a post, I'll do a post. Yeah you're a legend of the game. Okay so this is a bit of a weird situation so what you're hearing now is two days after, is it two days? Two days after we recorded the initial podcast.
Starting point is 00:35:26 Yeah, it's like 36 hours, my G. Well, in your case, Rom, it doesn't seem like you're sleeping. I feel slightly sort of like bad now because I was talking about some sort of sleep deprivation. You've been texting me for the last 36 hours non-stop, so I'm not sure where you've actually got any sleep in. So basically, I was where you actually got any slip sleeping. But so Basically, I was about to recap but we don't need to recap for people listening But I thought that Wayne Bridge would have known that KSI was saying all this stuff that was gonna he was gonna sell this stuff and you were saying you were appalled that that had happened and
Starting point is 00:36:07 since We recorded that Wayne Bridge has pulled out the fight because yeah basically what KSI said so you were right and I was wrong I mean it's not about who was right and who was wrong but you were right and I was wrong no and I will say that after we chatted I was slightly leaning towards what you were saying because I couldn't yeah I mean if I'm honest with you yeah no no I was just gonna say like the reason I thought they would have agreed it is I can't believe that KSI would say that without having checked first it's such a can't you I just... But that is their world, right? Like, even like what we do as comedians,
Starting point is 00:36:49 footballers, like actors, musicians, that YouTube, certainly YouTube boxing world is like a free for all. It's horrible, man. Like, you know, the only thing I'll say, right, is I like, I'm not gonna hate on KSI, because I think, you know, what he's's done is and what he's achieved in the Businesses, you know is pretty incredible
Starting point is 00:37:09 But in the way he's done it and sometimes how he conducts himself and some of that stuff he says I think it's not cool He's 30 and he still acts like Child and I don't we should be like he's 50 What a 50-year-old Yeah, I mean the thing is because originally what I thought had happened and if I'm repeating, you know Obviously we'd recorded it whatever 36 hours ago What I thought it had been an error of judgment But what I thought was care side gone if you want to do this fight It would be really make it great if I'm able to say this and that and Wayne Bridges said yeah okay and then they've had that conversation and the reason I
Starting point is 00:37:48 thought that is one like I said it's such a horrible thing to say if you haven't vetted it first such a horrific thing to say I think whether you know Wayne Bridge or not what you do know is that that is a horrible part of his lot he it really messed him up. And so to bring that up without warning feels so insane to me that I had assumed that the only possible reason that's happened is that they've agreed it in advance. And then if that is the case, I think that's an error of judgment on Wayne Bridges' part. But it turns out it wasn't an error of judgment on Wayne Bridges part, but it turns out It wasn't an error of judgment way, but just part isn't it in this fight thinking it's gonna be like a fun bit of chat And then it's gone to that the the reason the other thing that made me think
Starting point is 00:38:36 Waynebridge must know is that in the moment? He'd like he sort of went you're gonna go that he sort of said it so his response was so calm that I just thought, oh, he obviously knew that that was going to be said, but he's probably, he was probably in shock, I guess. I mean, I think you're shocked, but also like you got to remember, I suppose in the sense of even as a footballer who's played at the very highest level for the time he has, there's probably an element of him that gets into a place where, like, Wayne Bridge wasn't known as being like some sort of dirty player or a vicious player. He was a very composed... So he's probably got himself into a place where, getting into that
Starting point is 00:39:17 ring, he's had to find a sort of almost like zone that he's going in there. Whatever KSI is going to say in that ring, he knows that he's going to there you know not he knows it whatever KSI is gonna say in that ring he knows that he's gonna wind him up right there's no doubt in that and then when he hits him with that stuff I think it's probably a bit of shock but also like knowing Wayne I think Wayne probably wants to conduct himself in a way that he does he's kids are watching me that's the thing that broke my heart when and when you read that you realize that he was doing it his kids love okay you know watch KSI and watch Misfits Boxing he's doing it for them he's doing it so you know they can see that that box Wayne by the way is a brilliant boxer and then you're
Starting point is 00:39:56 like oh okay wow like that's and also like that I say I don't know if I can't remember what I said 36 hours ago but I don't know why KSI felt the need even to cheapen it like that. It just feels like that Don't get above you miss Fitz is being watched by a lot of children from the ages of about Eight to about whatever 16 that sort of vibe that I'm sure your boys, you know I don't know if they're into miss Fitz but around the age you don't want that sort of vibe that I'm sure your boys, you know, I don't know if they're into misfits, but around that age, you don't want that sort of stuff being said. But anyway, the thing that I would say is, is well done to Wayne Bridge for pulling out.
Starting point is 00:40:35 But they've KSI crossed the line is I don't want to put my family through that. So I'm out and I'm sure he won't feel like that. He'll feel like I imagine if he's anything like us to he'll just be agonizing over the fact that that's all be mentioned in the first place but he put he he almost certainly thought if I've agreed to do this thing with this nice guy there's no way that it's gonna go there and obviously it has done so it's just a bit I don't sound get not to defend cats but cat, I mean I've
Starting point is 00:41:06 only seen him once in a person off camera and obviously you've met him a couple of times and I know we obviously have all got mutual friends. I know that the guy who behind it, the Kassai character, is a pretty decent lad who's just, you know, he's put together, you know, he's become this. But he also, I think there is an element of him that is like, well, this is the thing that sells tickets that, you know, that has become almost a bit of WWE. It has become, and I think he's probably pushed it too far. And it, and we, you know, we could go for other times where he's done that. I just suppose that, uh, yeah, it's quite, let's not forget.
Starting point is 00:41:42 He also did drop the P bomb when they were playing that countdown gun. Yeah You know he has made He's made areas of judgment, but I but I do think At his heart. I do think he's a really nice Lad do I mean, but I just think it was just a big error of judgment, but I'm very much you know It was just a big error of judgment. But I'm very much, you know, look, without going on and on about it, I'm very much of the feeling that you separate people
Starting point is 00:42:09 from their mistakes. You know, it doesn't make, that doesn't make him a bad person in and of itself. But that was bad. It was a mad thing to do. But anyway, so that's it. That's a little update. We've never done this before.
Starting point is 00:42:24 First ever time we've done that. before first ever Tom. We've done that I think Tom join a hand back to Roman Tom Roman Tom back to you guys in the episode We just recorded 36 hours ago How is the how is the food out in America? Mate, I've been saying this in the shows. You know when you go on TikTok and you get these Americans going, I went to London or went to Britain for like a week and this is what I hated about the food and then they just put up all this stuff and anything oh fuck off yeah it's not been so and then you go to
Starting point is 00:43:08 America and you try the food just it's like I got it's just they just you nothing's bland here and now now that that's that's a better or worse because I also think you have to be quite smart about eating healthily. All the snacks are packed up to the eyeballs in horrible stuff. And obviously their food regulations are much laxer than they are in the UK, so that's probably part of it.
Starting point is 00:43:38 So their crisps and biscuits and shit like that, they're all allowed to be full of stuff that's probably a lot of stuff that's banned in the UK. But I had a salad at the airport in Boston, and it's better than most salads I've had in the last five years. I just picked it up at an airport kiosk. It's like, a lot of their food is great,
Starting point is 00:44:02 and you can eat it healthily in certain places. LA, it's very difficult to not eat healthily. How has it worked with the fires out there by the way? Because how far is that to where you are? Because I had a friend of mine who was there last week and said it was terrifying. It's not close to where the show is and it's not close to where the hotel is. But I've metatted to like, met up with a few people out here and a lot of them,
Starting point is 00:44:30 everybody knows somebody who's either lost a house, lost their house, or everybody I met certainly either know somebody who's lost their house or left their house thinking that was going to be the last time they were going to see it. But then the fire didn't get there. And there's, you know, there's some people that they left and they were like okay I'm probably not gonna see this house again and then because the wind changed their house didn't get burned down but they were like a wind direction change away from losing all of their property you know it's pretty mad and so the the atmosphere in the
Starting point is 00:45:03 city is like a bit it. It feels a bit like, somebody said it's a bit like lockdown. That's what it feels like. But people are trying to go out and stuff to kind of- Is the fire still raging? To try and return to normal? It's bad. I don't know, is the honest truth. It's like, I don't think it's as bad. But now everybody's kicking off about how it's being managed. There's loads of conspiracy theories about
Starting point is 00:45:23 why has it happened. What's a conspiracy theory? I love a conspiracy theory. Load me up. kicking off about how it's been managed there's loads of conspiracy theories about why is it happened? What's a conspiracy theory? I love a conspiracy theory. Load me up. Because wasn't LA originally like a basin city that was built into like said it was loads of... Look at this. Palisades fire finally over 50% contained. That was four hours ago. Wow. So it's still like the conspiracy theories that they were set deliberately to destroy LA so they can build some sort of smart city or you know
Starting point is 00:45:52 To like destroy that part of it so they can rebuild it if completely differently Well, that's not one of the theories but I'm speaking having done almost no reading so I'm probably wrong on that but that's something I heard Yeah, so it's pretty it's pretty full-on fucking scared It's scary world now. Yeah, that's yeah very profound one one One thing I want to ask you about right is with regards to like not tick-tock just ticked off with social media Is it are you aware? That Snoop Dogg has done something for the inauguration of Donald Trump? Really? No. Yeah Snoop Dogg under fire for
Starting point is 00:46:32 performance at crypto events celebrating so it's a crypto event but he performed there and the crypto event was celebrating Donald Trump right and a few years ago now whatever you think of that I that, I don't want to get into politics, but whatever you think of that, a few years ago, Snoop posted a video, and loads of people have brought this video back up where he's going, I wonder which sellout idiot is gonna be performing for Trump at this inaugural, I wonder,
Starting point is 00:46:58 who's gonna be the first idiot that's gonna, and starts like going into one, and so everybody's brought this video up saying This is a bit embarrassing. This hasn't aged well for snoop now I don't want to get into like what you think a Trump or whatever, but I do think it's interesting that people are not happy With you changing a position on something now whether you think it's right that that snoops like a Trump support No, I'm not saying he's a Trump support, but you know he's done something like that.
Starting point is 00:47:27 If you film something or put something online where you say one thing, that's it, that's you on that issue. Forever right? I do think one of the things that we're not good at or people aren't good at is accepting that people change their minds and stuff, right? That people's positions change. And I find that a little bit with stand up. There's loads of my stand up, I think I've said this before, that I don't agree with what I said in it anymore. But I'm sure now if I then said something that contradicted it, somebody could pull up a bit of stand up where I've said the direct opposite. I'm almost certain that could happen. But that is also the human nature of like, is pattern, you know in life you can find out stuff and you know
Starting point is 00:48:09 facts, I know you have changes of opinion. It's an insane thing to think I Draw my line in the sand and I've got to stick by that for the rest of eternity People can have those moments and weirdly Can I just before you before I forget I would sorry to interrupt you JT. Can you clip up? Just both of those things pretty incredible Tom said that earlier when he said life is hard and then just now he said In life you can find out stuff. I'd love to Get either or both of those quotes born to a t-shirt or some sort of motivational Instagram post that'd be amazing Yeah, we can't all be like fucking LA wrong fucking out there living the breeze. Some of us got fucking
Starting point is 00:48:48 So it was all those ladies man Listen man, it's it's I've put away. It's a mad one. Hey, you know life is hard, but In life you can find out stuff anyway. I've realized that without sleep. I I Fall into a really bad place Let's let's talk about this because sleep deprivation is is like my diet is this ever the last ten days I literally came into this year been the lightest I've ever been and I've gone back. Yeah, I've put on I think Four four kilos in the last fucking ten days. In the last 10 days? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:49:26 From sleep deprivation? Just from, I'm eating shit. Like, if I'm sleeping, I'm so fucking driven to eat well, train, do what I need to do. My mental health never suffer. And it's also less, it's fewer hours for you to be able to use your mouth to eat as well. I mean, that's the only thing.
Starting point is 00:49:42 Yeah, yeah, yeah. But once you take away sleep, my brain is sloth-like. I get out of reasons to train. I eat like shit, I eat like terribly. And yeah, and I find myself not in necessarily the best zone, not the best version of myself. I look at myself and go, all right,
Starting point is 00:50:04 this is not a person that I'm like, I and sleep is just effort. Like when I look now back and think from wasteful 20s and most of my 30s, really, I just abused my fucking body and my like, you know, went out and partied and whatever, I never really thought about it. And now I look at it and think I would do anything for like three consecutive nights of unbroken sleep. Mmm. That's hard, isn't it? It's tricky. I mean, like the time difference out here is messing me up and I'm not going any magnesium butter with me, so that's... Yeah. But if I wake up, it's so funny man, like you think that you've got your mental
Starting point is 00:50:41 health on a balance, right? And then something like me waking up super early while I'm abroad reminds me that I'm always two tortillas thickness away from descending into complete madness. Oh man, I'm in the madness now. Yeah, you wake up, one morning I woke up at 4 a.m. I was like, well I can't go out or do anything. So I was sort of laying in bed, looking at my phone, trying to get to sleep, looking
Starting point is 00:51:08 at my phone. By about 7am I think I was ready to just go into the bar from not myself in there and have a two hour cry. I'd managed to spiral so completely and then you just go, oh I thought I was, before, when I went to bed I thought I I was in pretty good place. All it's taken is a little bit of a bad night sleep and me waking up sort of lying in bed with my own thoughts. And I'm right back in it right back in the thick of it. I'm made of glass at the moment.
Starting point is 00:51:36 Literally like a funny look on the train could make me always want to cry. That's like where I'm at. I find it and it's such an insane thing. It's like this is just sleep. It's amazing how you lose perspective. I got to a point where I did a podcast over here or it was a radio interview when I was in Boston and the lady goes to me, she goes, how do you deal with criticism? And I said, well, you know, I've got myself into a point where it's sort of, you know,
Starting point is 00:52:10 you're bound to get it. So I'm kind of in a good place, it doesn't really affect me. Cut to two days later, sleep deprived. I didn't do the Radio 2 show because I've been away. Somebody says, I much prefer it when Rammish is not there. That's what the comment was on the radio 2 post So then the fact that one they prefer it when i'm not there and two they can't even spell my fucking name Sent me into an absolute. I was just like oh
Starting point is 00:52:38 Then you start then you then what happens is because you're sleep deprived you start catastrophizing. Oh people hate me Then what then what you start doing is you start you start? I get really vivid with it. I start like imagining the sort of conversations that people are having about what a piece of shit I am. Mate, it's insane. It's like hilarious. Then if I said it out loud, the thing is like, if I phone Lisa, I don't tell Lisa sometimes.
Starting point is 00:53:00 And like she's always like, tell me if you're like, but I can't say to Lisa Oh, I saw one comment on A post and now I've spent the last half an hour fan like imagining conversations that people are having about how was she supposed to? Feel that what are you supposed to do to support somebody? That's that It's insane like how you can just spiral even on a good week, I'm like, there's some nice stuff happened. I literally was just like, yeah. I think you know the worst bit of it, I was just sitting there one morning,
Starting point is 00:53:32 just sort of looking into the middle of distance, just trying to get a bit, and Grace just went, Daddy's sad. And I was like, oh my God. No. I had to put on a smile and sort of fucking start dancing around the kitchen said you're welcome from Moana just to make her feel welcome.
Starting point is 00:53:49 You know what I thought? The moon and the stars. She's three and I'm already fucking displaying the same thing I've been doing for fucking 45 years to make other people feel less comfortable about the fact that I'm not in a great place. Yeah, do you know what's good is I, you know, sometimes I look at my children I think yeah pass that on to you. Enjoy that It'll be it'll be your 50s before you even figure out a way to even begin to cope with that enjoy What's that? You want another hang up some there you go?
Starting point is 00:54:20 What's that? Sorry, mate? Sorry Charlie can have a quick word. Sorry mate, it looked like you were displaying self-esteem there. Can I just tell you how to get rid of that? Can I strip that away? Yeah man, it's a killer. Yeah but, but, having said all of that, first of all I used the word mad, obviously that's the wrong, I don't mean that, but you know like, but equally, it is just, you know, I think the thing you've got to remember
Starting point is 00:54:43 and the thing that I remembered and I don't want people to get worried about me I was it was just like, you know, you have like a little whatever blip, but it is sleep deprivation Yeah is what it is, you know All it takes it is as simple as getting outside and having a walk or something or doing something It's it's so like everything is you know, like, you know, we're very blessed people, but there is like, I think there's the triggers of like one thing and another, you can just end up just spiraling a little bit
Starting point is 00:55:13 where you're like, oh, okay, and then you just gotta grab hold of yourself and just go, okay, well if sleep's not gonna happen, I have to make these non-negotiables, diet, exercise, whatever, and you know. And also it's not gonna last forever. We've been here before, but it's like, here's what it is, what it is baby, and it's worse things out there.
Starting point is 00:55:36 Well listen, I think on that really sort of upbeat note, how about we tie things up? New tides, new oceans, new winds, new friends. Look at me, sitting here. It's cold outside. There's warmth in my heart. Why? Someone zoom with my guy, Rom. A fresh breeze, the attitude that just swept across the laptop and into my soul from his new way of thinking. Maybe that's what I should do wake up try new me try new angle and you feeling funny sometimes is new you the breadth of the
Starting point is 00:56:13 imagination away from the new you that everybody wishes to see the same old shoes that you've worn forever. There's comfort in there baby. Truth is, live, change or stay the same. Best thing you can do is get for the 12 hours of light and the 12 hours of dark and just hope that you're just a little bit in front of the darkness and just two steps into the light. Stay well friends, there's always tomorrow. That was so beautiful. I've got no idea what it meant. I've got a headache and I've got to do a self tape
Starting point is 00:56:48 after this so that's gonna be great. Okay well listen at least you've got opportunities I've got nothing. What would be nice is a self tape for what is meant to be a hard man in a film and the director will go why is he crying? A couple of things one there is a new animation that's been done by Yellow Penguin, which is absolutely incredible, Hair Magician. So we're going to put that out in the next few days. And then the other thing is, I just want to say really quickly, I'm doing New York on Thursday, and this is to do with the song I'm going to choose. I have been a big fan of a rapper called Sophie Hunter who's New York based.
Starting point is 00:57:28 And just on the off chance, I reached out to her and said, do you fancy doing an opening set before I perform it in New York? And she's agreed to do it. So Sophie Hunter is opening for me in New York. I'm very, very excited. It should be great. So can we play Mic Check by Sophie Hunter please JT.
