So if I was a person who didn't have any goals or aspirations or wanted to feel appreciated for the good work I do, then I could live like this forever. I know. Just going to tell you, that's not okay. Yeah, it's not, right?
Starting point is 00:00:53 Right. Do you want to know how to deal with a micromanager? It's just, it's a battle. I was told, I was hired, hey, we want you to change this. We want you to implement this. But everything they hired me to do is a battle. Or prevent a know-it-all from making you feel small. We had dynamics in which she would also need to be like the smartest person in the room and the most well-informed person in the room. So I was happy to let her kind of take the lead. And then it's now started to become more of an issue because I'm trying to get promoted myself. Hi, it's Amy G.
Starting point is 00:01:30 And these are moments from a new series that's coming to the Women at Work feed. It's called Getting Along. The four episodes are a companion to my new book, which is about how to work with anyone, even difficult people. Passive-aggressive people, tormentors, pessimists, woe-is-me pessimists. In each episode, I coach a guest who needs help getting along with one particular and particularly difficult person, like the woman whose colleague keeps encroaching on her turf. I just came right out. I was like, hey, so I've been hearing that, you know, you've been having these trainings, having these meetings, and, you know, I wonder, like, why aren't you involving me? Why
Starting point is 00:02:09 are you involving my team? And he was kind of like, oh, no, no, not doing that. Yeah, but you are. But you are. By the end of the episode, guests have the tactics and phrases they need to build healthier, more productive relationships at work. You'll learn from them, too.
