Words of Jesus Podcast - Know Ye What I Have Done
Episode Date: January 31, 2025"Lord, is it I?" Betrayer is here. Our friend, Jesus, is about to be crucified. He washed the feet of the disciples. "Know ye what I have done to you?" Jesus said. The subjective servant will be hap...py. "Believe in God, that He is who He says and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him." The step to receive God is through obedience. Jesus knew the betrayer was one of the twelve; "Lord, is it I?" So asked all the disciples. What will a man give in exchange for his soul? We must push, work, strive to enter the Kingdom of God.***108: Jesus At The Last Supper (Cont.)Matthew 26:14-30; Mark 14:10-26; Luke 22:3-39; John 13:1-17:26I Am The Vine Jesus continued: “I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away; and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches. He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit; for without me ye can do nothing. If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples. As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you. Continue ye in my love. If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love. These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. This is my commandment: that ye love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth. But I have called you friends; for all things I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you. Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain; that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it to you. These things I command you, that ye love one another. If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own. But because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. Remember the word that I said unto you, ‘The servant is not greater than his lord.’ If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also. But all these things will they do unto you for my name’s sake, because they know not him that sent me. If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin. But now they have no cloak for their sin. He that hateth me hateth my Father also. If I had not done among them the works which none other man did, they had not had sin. But now they have both seen and hated both me and my Father. But this cometh to pass, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, ‘They hated me without a cause.’ But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me. And ye also shall bear...

Think Red Ink Ministries presents the Words of Jesus series with Don C. Harris.
Hello my friend, welcome once again to the Words of Jesus series.
Don Harris, your host, taking you through the red ink of the scriptures.
Hope you're enjoying yourself.
And I hope this is coming so clear to you that you feel like your friend is about to be crucified.
You know, it's one thing to sing and sway back and forth
saying Jesus is a friend of mine.
What a friend we have in Jesus.
But, wow.
Our friend, our Savior, our Lord,
our Master, our Ruler,
our Guru, our Master, our Ruler, our Guru, our Guide,
the one upon whom we depend as Christians, as human beings,
is about to be crucified.
And he's about to be crucified against the prior plan and will of God.
They've got a serious problem here here and they're going to have
to work it out they do by the way uh not to give away the end of the story but uh they certainly
do we finished last time jesus at the last supper he asked them a question which uh his questions always have uh you know the the questions are so thick and
pregnant when you when you read them that you know they go in all different directions and they
they have implications that you haven't even thought of and then you find that as you answer
those questions they do the same thing i love to hear a question formulated in the mind of god
i i that that is just amazing you know anybody can ask questions um and uh we say things like
there's no such thing as a dumb question well you haven't been asked many have you
sure there's dumb questions questions that have no valid answer nonsensical
questions how far is it from london bridge to christmas day
as you've really never been asked a dumb question don't say that anymore there's plenty of dumb Become a theologian and you'll see.
All right.
Jesus continued.
I'd like to continue, if I may.
Speak, he says, I speak not of you all.
This is when he said, you know, if you'll learn about this washing feet business, if you'll learn to be that subjective servant and not be so concerned about being high up in the kingdom of God,
you'll be happy.
You'll be happy if you do what I tell you to do.
And then he qualifies us by saying,
I speak not of you all.
I know whom I have chosen,
but that the scriptures may be fulfilled,
he that eateth bread with me
hath lifted up his heel against me.
Hmm.
He's saying, you know,
I'm not unaware of what's going on here.
I don't want you to think I am.
I don't want you to think after I'm gone,
raised from the dead, he didn't go into all this.
After I'm gone, raised from the dead,
sitting at the right hand of the Father,
you're sitting around thinking,
wow, I wonder why he didn't see Judas
for what he really was.
He's saying, no, I know exactly what's going on here.
He says, now I tell you before it come
that when it is come to pass you may believe
that i am he wow that's what i just got finished saying and uh and that and that was that there's
no reason to doubt me nothing's getting by me here verily i say unto you he that receiveth whomever I send receiveth me,
and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.
Do you realize what he just said?
There's a lot of people who have considered themselves
to have accepted Christ,
and thusly and subsequently accepted God.
I don't know that anybody says I've accepted God.
They usually say I believe in God and accepted Jesus.
But see, it's all just talk. You know, we're just used to
saying things the way we say them.
So he is saying that the step
to have received God
does that sound odd to you?
To receive God? That's because you think that you've received Christ.
That you've accepted him.
He doesn't care whether you accept him or not.
He does care that you receive him.
And if you do receive him,
you receive him and all that he has said
and all that he claimed to be
and that he is the Lord of your life
and you show this, prove this
by your obedience to him.
That is receiving him for who he is well god requires the same thing
of us that we believe in god number one most of us have got that down pat and that he is the
rewarder of them that diligently seek him i kind of wish he'd have gone on with the reciprocal of that, which is, and he is the destroyer of them that
don't. But we have to, if we accept God, we have to accept his nature, accept who he is,
accept what his plan is. You see, so this acceptance, and I don't like using the word
acceptance when it comes to salvation. I think that we should use the scriptural term which is receiving him we receive a new king is coronated and he comes out on the balcony and the people
say oh hail long live the king what are they doing they're receiving him as their king
they're not just accepting it not just tolerating it maybe some of them are
um you know it's like you know just tolerating who is our president or receiving who is our
president it's not accepting who our president is but receiving him is um that you know you
and everything you stand for it's okay with us, man. We're behind you.
That's how you receive a king.
That's how you receive a political leader.
And that's how you receive Jesus Christ.
To as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God.
Later, Jesus said,
But behold, the hand of him that betrayeth me is with me on the table
he just said he's he's eating bread with me this night and he says the hand of him that betrayeth
me is with me on the table that means he's sitting here at the table and truly the son of man goeth as it was
determined but woe unto that man by whom he is betrayed you see I am NOT fighting
against the betrayal I'm not fighting against you know the plan that people
have laid out for me the path that they have carved for me to walk I'm not fighting against you know the plan that people have laid out for me
the path that they have carved for me to walk
I'm going to walk it
and it doesn't mean that
because he has made this little path for me
I don't care what his intentions are
it was a path
conceived in betrayal
you're not going to get away with betrayal.
It's just not going to happen.
So he says,
Woe unto that man by whom he is betrayed.
The apostles began to question among themselves
as to who the traitor might be.
Then Jesus said.
Verily I say unto you.
One of you which eateth with me.
Shall betray me.
Here it is the third time.
It's one of you twelve.
At this his disciples were very sorrowful.
And each said.
Lord. Is it I? were very sorrowful. And each said, Lord,
is it I?
Is it I?
You know,
I think that kind of self-evaluation
is missing in Christianity today.
What are we, six years old?
Eight years old? Twelve?
I don't know. What are we
thinking?
Do you really think you're
beyond betrayal?
You think you're beyond
denying Christ?
What will
you give me
that I might deliver him unto you?
Remember how Jesus put that once?
He said, what will a man give in exchange for his soul?
What will a man give in exchange for his soul? Is that the same question? Because what will a man
receive in exchange for his soul? You see, what will a man give in exchange for his soul is what he's willing to give up in exchange for his soul.
But what a man receives in exchange for his soul,
that's a decision-making process.
You know, it's...
I'm not going to use that example. I used it in my book,
but that's kind of private reading,
and this is very, very public.
But there's a joke.
Some of you guys may know it.
I don't know.
But the punchline is, hey, we've already determined what you are.
Now we're just negotiating price.
And it's really true. We've've already were at least we should have
determined already what we are but there is a price did you know you have a price
did you know you have a price oh I couldn't be bought for anything. Yeah, you sound a lot like Peter.
Though they threaten to kill me, I'll not deny you.
Jesus says, not that easy, Pete.
Now, you're going to be amazed at what little bit you sell me for.
You're going to betray me three times before the cock crows, and you're not going to get anything for it
you see it's a sobering thought to think about is it i but you know what
it's not only a sobering thought it's a very sober thought on your part. And if there is somebody to deny Christ,
somebody that'll turn their back on him,
somebody that'll deny him,
walk away from what he has provided for us,
to turn their back on that forever,
you might do yourself a huge favor this afternoon
by considering,
is it I?
Is there really a price?
Do I really have a price in my life
where I'll turn around and walk away from all this?
Are you thinking that this is some reward
that's going to be given you?
I wouldn't betray Jesus for a million dollars.
No, but you might walk away from a dead baby.
So we have prices in both directions, don't we?
We have prices we have to pay.
And we may have prices that could be rewards
don't think about this in one direction you have a price
you oh i wouldn't i wouldn't give up on god i don't care if i was tortured what if your wife was
what if your wife was? What if your children were?
You do yourself a favor
if you get off your high horse
and realize you're just as fallible as you ever were.
Yes, you might have had your sins forgiven.
Yes, you might be in the middle of church.
And perhaps your fellowship with all
these people keeps you on the straight and narrow. Maybe you're a part of this silly movement of
having accountability partners. I never did understand that. I'm willing to sin before my God and not before my friend that I bowl with? I've never understood that.
Anybody needs an accountability partner? You need a savior. That's what you need. You need a God in
your life. You need faith in God. That's what you need to make it. However, there are people that have faith in God today that will not have it tomorrow.
Did you ask the question?
Did it come to you?
When I said there are people who have faith in God today
that may not have it tomorrow, did you say it? Did you say it?
Did it cross your mind?
Lord, is it I?
You know,
I keep saying,
you've heard me say it,
if you've watched this show,
you've heard me say it many times.
This is very serious business. This is not a one and done. This is not buying a ticket.
This is not joining a group or even joining a church. And this is someone who has decided to push they've decided to work they've decided to do something of value that will render change in their life and make them different today than they were yesterday
you're not living like that you better ask is it i am i the one that's going to betray you
i can just see jesus looking in the eyes of john was one who asked this question
looking at the eyes of john and thinking wow you have a lot of understanding john
i have big plans for you john the lord loves you john you've grown man you've grown you're
you're a mighty mighty man for my father and for his purpose on this earth
and for you to even consider the fact that it might be you who crucifies me
it might be you who delivers me up it might be you who delivers me up.
It might be you who turns around.
That tells me you've got a great grasp on reality.
That's 11 of these disciples made it just fine.
11 of them did.
Here, this says that all of them ask,
isn't I?
Isn't I?
These were wonderful men.
Wonderful men who were not afraid of introspection,
not afraid of giving their life a second look. They weren't taking anything for granted.
I don't know if it was because they saw it,
they experienced it, they understood this.
I don't know what it was because they saw it, they experienced it, they understood this. I don't know what it was.
Wow, that's rare today.
Is it I that could turn around?
Jesus, putting their fears at rest, tried to say,
He that dips his hand with me into the dish, this is what he told John, the same shall betray me. The son of man goeth as it is written of him. But woe
unto that man by whom the son is betrayed. It had been good for that man if he'd never
been born. I don't think you want the Son of God saying that about you.
I'm sure you don't. Judas Iscariot
who had betrayed him said to Jesus
Master
is it I?
Is it I?
Now was he involving himself in introspection at this point?
Was he wondering, oh my goodness, it could be me?
Or was he saying, have I been found out?
Have I been ratted on?
Have I been outed?
That was his concern at this point and Jesus said
oh no don't worry about it Judas
everything's going to be alright
once saved always saved
just relax
no
Jesus looked at him and said
you said it you said it.
You said it.
Judas knew exactly what was going on at this point.
He was under no delusion whatsoever.
Knew exactly.
Not only that he'd betrayed Christ.
That had already taken place, by the way.
And they leave here and go to the Garden of Gethsemane,
where he always resorted, retired to pray,
where it was one of his favorite places to go, evidently.
And he knew that he had already told the Pharisees,
now look, you know, we're having Passover here,
and as soon as we get done doing that,
he'll go to Gethsemane.
He'll be there tonight.
I'll point him out to you.
I think I told you before that
that there was a disciple
who had a nickname or a second name, surname, Didymus.
And Didymus means twin.
And it's thought that this fellow looks so much like Jesus
that he was mistaken for him in a lot of cases.
I don't know that he wasn't a body double
just in case somebody wanted to take a shot at him uh we don't know that but um jesus do you
remember judas said uh you know that he he contracted with them saying i'll be there
i'll make sure you get the right guy. I'll kiss him on the cheek.
How's that?
When you see me do that, you'll know that's him.
Take him.
Oh, these were horrible days.
Horrible days.
Judas,
Judas,
it just,
it just overtook him
he just couldn't stand it anymore
there was wickedness in him
that he just
never got over
he just
I have a hard time believing that
regeneration could be a part of Judas' life
matter of fact Jesus when he prays I have a hard time believing that regeneration could be a part of Judas' life.
Matter of fact, Jesus, when he prays,
he's telling the Lord, he says, You know, I thank you that of all that you've given me,
talking about his disciples,
that I've lost none,
except, oh, what a horrible word,
except the son of perdition.
Who was that?
Judas?
He says, I've lost none except the son of perdition
that the scriptures might be fulfilled.
He admitted to have lost Judas.
But that was actually done way before this was done.
Now, if we don't take time to consider
that we can make these kinds of foolish mistakes
that we actually can
be the one who betrays him
I think that we're getting way too close to
that area of safety, of comfort,
of where things just aren't so important to us
that we actually create a dangerous situation for us.
That all notwithstanding, I don't think that was the deal with Judas.
I think Judas just really was the deal with Judas.
I think Judas just really had a problem with money. I think he
was one of
the personalities that Jesus was saying,
it's hard for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
Remember when the woman anointed his feet
and his head with spikenard? He says, why wasn't this sold for 300 pence? And we could have given
that money to the poor. Well, one of the gospels says, this was said by Judas Iscariot.
Not because he cared for the poor, it adds, but because he had the bag and was a thief
and stole what was put therein.
This man was actually stealing from the coffers
of Jesus and the Twelve Ministries Incorporated.
He was actually taking money out of the coffers of amanda that you know
little widows and people and and folks that cared about jesus obviously gave them money
so that they'd have what they needed and it was judas's business judas's duty to carry that bag. He had to carry around with him.
It could have changed him.
It could have reminded him every day that he has a problem with that.
But he ignored it and ignored it and ignored it.
And finally, 30 pieces of silver?
I don't know that they'll fit in this bag.
That's a lot of money.
And it just overtook him.
This is why we have to learn self-control not depend on god i've heard people pray well if god doesn't want it to happen then he won't
let it happen you can't say anything dumber than that not even if you try can you say something dumber than that if god i've heard
people say that they have prayed that if if you don't want me to do this and you need to stop me
and uh you're thinking wow is really is this why how you're living no wonder your life's such a mess uh so
if if you have trouble in a certain area in your life what i've noticed is you just seem to stay
in that class you just stay there and stay there you know i i mean how many times did i take algebra one three years they just wouldn't
promote me out of well no i guess it was algebra one that i couldn't do so they wouldn't promote
me out of general math and uh well i couldn't get the grades i just i didn't know math very well
and um but they just kept me there.
Why didn't they let me move on?
Look, it's a fact of life.
You got trouble with something?
Our Father God is going to make sure that you're going to have to deal with this
over and over and over and over again
until you get it right.
You know, that's really kind of simple parenting.
But for some reason, we seem to have missed it somehow.
The fact of the matter is, is that Judas had a problem with money.
So Jesus says, hey, Judah, come here.
Come here, Jude.
Hey, Jude.
I got a job for you.
What is it?
Here.
And he reaches behind and he gets his wallet
or this little purse, the bag,
and said, this is all the money that this ministry has.
If we need anything, we're going to come to you.
I'd appreciate it if you could keep account of this
and watch over this while we do our thing i can just see his eyes roll back in his head and think oh my goodness
well you had opportunity you had opportunity to get over it but that very thing you carried it
around with you you could have done better but you didn't and finally
it overtook you and finally it overtook our savior it caused his death and you know what
you're in you're ended up lost what a mess father i appreciate you giving me these people to help me while I'm here and I've lost none of them
save one
a son of perdition
I can just hear the
sadness in his voice
because
he indeed did lose
poor
poor Judas
