Words of Jesus Podcast - We Are The Temple of God
Episode Date: December 6, 2024The restoration of the breach between Adam and YHVH required a willing and innocent sacrifice to restore communication and relationship. This bridge (atonement) was built by the faith and obedie...nce of Jesus Christ (our example). Jesus said, "I always obey the Father." The success of Jesus allowed the presence of God to be moved from Herod's stone temple to the hearts of obedient men. This was an expected result of the coming Messiah – no longer would the sacrifices and temple services be required. Messiah, our High Priest, reigns in us!***Chapter 100: Jesus Once More Speaks Of His Death And ResurrectionJohn 12:20-50CERTAIN GREEKS had had arrived at Jerusalem for the feast days. They went to Phillip of Bethsaida in Galilee, saying: “Sir, we would see Jesus.” Phillip told Andrew of the request and both Phillip and Andrew went to Jesus with the message. Jesus replied: “The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified. Verily, verily, I say unto you, ‘Except a grain of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone.’But if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit. He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal. If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be. If any man serve me, him will my Father honor. Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour; but for this cause came I unto this hour. Father, glorify thy name.” Then a voice from Heaven was heard, saying: “I HAVE BOTH GLORIFIED IT, AND WILL GLORIFY IT AGAIN.” Some of the people who heard the voice said it thundered. Others said: “An angel spake to him.” Jesus answered, saying: “This voice came not because of me, but for your sakes. Now is the judgment of this world. Now shall the prince of this world be cast out. And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.” Thus Jesus signified how he was to die. The people asked him: “We have heard out of the law that Christ abideth forever. And how sayest thou, The Son of man must be lifted up?’ Who is this Son of man?” Jesus replied to the people: “Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you; for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth. While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light.” When he finished speaking, Jesus left and hid himself from the multitude. Even though he had done so many miracles before their very eyes, still they did not believe in him. Thus was the prophecy of Isaiah fulfilled, that which said: “Lord, who hath believed our report? And to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed? He hath blinded their eyes and hardened their...

The Words of Jesus Series with Don C. Harris
Hello my friends. Don Harris.
Glad to have you on the Words of Jesus series.
I told you a couple of shows back
that we're dealing with some...
the time in Jesus' life when, well, friend,
it's just about over.
They're just about to kill him.
Every time he opens his mouth, he causes more and more anger,
more and more problems and he's
going to end up losing his life over it. Never mistake
the fact that Jesus was not crucified
as a sacrifice for sin.
He was murdered. Absolutely
murdered.
Now, his blood and his death did actually atone for those on the earth who fear the Lord.
Now, there's a way that happened, and we're going to talk about it.
I'm trying to get you excited about it because it's really neat the way this all comes together. But at this particular point that we're talking about
now in the 100th chapter of our book, at this particular point something is changing here
that is very unnerving. And it's so much so that it's on Jesus' mind even while he's walking around. He says,
my soul is greatly troubled.
And there was a reason for that. You know, the idea of Jesus
in the Garden of Gethsemane crying about being killed,
I don't know how you justify that with, he left the splendor of heaven
knowing his destiny. Well, friend, that's a song.
That's not scripture. And yeah, he left
the splendor of heaven, but he had intention on redeeming his people when he
got here. And it looks like, it looks at this particular
point like, that's not going to happen.
Do you, I don't know that you know how close we came
i don't know that i know you think god can do anything and jesus you know he knows everything
and and you play all these games in these fairy tales in your head about you know god knew that
he was sending his son down here to be viciously murdered by his own people.
No, the Lord's attitude was, it came out in one of Jesus' parables,
surely they'll reverence my son.
Well, no, we didn't.
We treated him just like we treat all the rest of the prophets,
all the other messengers you sent.
And him doubly so because we realized
he's the heir. This is one of the most damning things
about what the Jews actually accomplished in this crucifixion
that they hired the Romans to do. They weren't crucifying
a heretic. They weren't crucifying a
troublemaker. They weren't crucifying a boat rocker.
They were crucifying who they knew within their heart was
indeed the Son of God. Sure there
might have been a Roman centurion standing by the cross
saying if he's the Son of God let him
well perhaps that was a Jew that said,
if he's the son of God, let him call on God now and maybe he'll save him.
But you've got a Roman centurion saying, surely this was the son of God.
Listen, this is not a secret.
The Jews knew exactly what they were doing this is the air of everything that we
own our religion our nation our temple and he's coming to get it come let us kill him
and seize on his inheritance jesus was not under any kind of delusion that they all meant well. No, they
didn't mean well. Now it's true they didn't know what they were doing, but they didn't mean well.
This was a bad situation. And I think the Lord was revealing this to Jesus about this time in his life
that our plan is falling apart here.
Now look, I put in a plan to glorify my name, and I'll do it again.
Well, this gave Jesus some encouragement, I'm sure.
But he even said to his disciples, well let's continue to read.
Some of the people who heard the voice said it thundered.
Others said an angel spake to him. Jesus answered
saying this voice came not because of me
but for your sakes. Now is the judgment
of this world. Now shall the judgment of this world.
Now shall the princes of this world be cast out.
And if I be lifted up from the earth, I'll draw all men to me.
If they're going to crucify me, and that's exactly what this means, being lifted up from the earth.
Let me tell you something.
There's a big difference in being lifted up from the earth on a crucifixion stake, cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree. There's a huge difference in that
and laying yourself on the altar in the temple. Do you see the difference? Abraham's son Isaac
was laid upon an altar and he was laid on wood on that altar.
And there is a correlation between the wood Isaac was laid upon
and what Jesus hung upon.
There is a correlation.
But the huge difference is Isaac wasn't crucified.
Now he was to die, but the angel stopped it, didn't he?
And so Jesus' obligation in this point was to come to that point of death
in order to finish the covenant with Abraham.
I've told you, this is all between Abraham and Jesus Christ.
This covenant was between him and jesus
christ jesus christ renewed that covenant you remember that this is why and we're going to
read i'll give you a peek into the future here but this is why jesus was able to on the cross
say it is finished i've heard that stuff about,
you know, he hung there on the cross
and said it is finished,
therefore there's no more works to be done to be saved.
You know, the salvation plan is finished
and all this stuff.
And that is so theologically inane
and just nearly stupid.
I don't know why anybody would even say it.
Not with 15 minutes thought of,
wow, it's finished.
He's not even dead yet.
Salvation plan is finished and he's not dead?
We're going to talk about all this.
All right.
There's a lot of things that weren't accomplished at that point.
So what was finished?
There's a cliffhanger for you.
All right.
He says, if I be lifted up from the earth, I will draw all men unto me.
Thus Jesus signified how he was to die.
The people ask him, wait a minute.
What are you saying?
You're going to be crucified?
What are you saying? You're going to die crucified? What are you saying? You're going to die?
Now, let me tell you something, Jesus.
The scriptures, they cannot be broken.
The prophecies concerning you,
they say we are out of the law that Christ abides forever.
When he comes, he comes to stay.
Stay.
Sorry, guys.
Not this time.
It's not going to work.
This isn't working.
It's not going to happen.
Sorry.
But the scriptures say you're supposed to stay here.
Establish the kingdom of God.
Bring back the nation of Israel.
Sorry, guys.
The Son of Man must be lifted up.
The Son of Man's going to have to be crucified.
That's what's coming.
They said, lift it up?
Who is this Son of Man?
The people asked him.
Jesus replied, up who is this son of man the people ask him jesus replied yet a little while the light's with you walk while you're in the light lest darkness come upon you for he that walketh in darkness
knoweth not whither he goeth while you have light believe in that light that you may be the children of light
he's saying my time's coming to an end he says in another place
all things pertaining to the son of man hath an end an end what are you saying
we know you're the christ we know you're the Messiah. And the scriptures are clear
that you're going to live here forever.
They were arguing the point with him.
And he was trying to tell them,
no, sorry.
It's not going to happen that way.
So, look, I got a few more days. As as long as i'm here you need to learn these things
walk in the light because you know you don't want to walk around in the darkness
and if i go away i'm not going to speak much with you
that's those are his words. When he finished speaking, Jesus left and hid himself from
the multitude, even though he had come, I'm sorry, even though he had done so many miracles
before their very eyes, still they did not believe in him the people thus was the prophecy of Isaiah fulfilled
which said now remember I told you you can always tell
where Matthew's introduction is in these
compilation of scripture because he always referred to the
prophet saying he said this to fulfill the sayings of the prophet
this is obviously matthew's input
and he says um he says thus was the prophecy of isaiah filled which said lord who hath believed
i report and to whom has the arm of the lord been revealed. You know, every time I read that scripture,
I can't help but think about,
you've used arm and hammer baking soda, haven't you?
Sure you have.
You look at their little logo,
and that big, muscly, sinewy arm holding that hammer.
I always think of, when I think of the arm of the lord i see that as an arm
of salvation something you grab a hold of and take up and something that you can you can do chin-ups
on that baby this is a this is the the strength of the lord that with which he uses to reach to us.
That's Jesus Christ.
When they say, to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?
They're not talking about anything other than the strength of God,
the word of God, Jesus Christ.
He continues, he hath blinded their eyes and hardened their heart that they should not see with their eyes nor understand with their heart
and be converted and I should heal them.
Who?
Those to whom the arm of the Lord, the word of the Lord, Jesus Christ, the Messiah
was revealed and they rejected him.
They rejected him. They rejected him.
Here, Isaiah is corroborating
what he says here that if a person
walk in darkness, they're going to stumble.
And friend, there is no darkness like blindness.
I'm speaking from experience.
Jesus cried and said,
He that believeth on me believeth not on me,
but on him that sent me.
And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me.
I am come, a light unto the world.
And whosoever believeth on me that whosoever believeth in me
should not be in darkness and if any man hear my words and believe me not I judge him not
for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
He that rejecteth me and receiveth not my words hath one that judges him.
The word that I have spoken,
the same shall judge him in that last day.
Okay.
I don't know how to make this clear because Sunday school
has taught us that Jesus appeared on December 25th
and up until
then it was all the Father
or God as Protestants call him and unfortunately the king james does too
but they want to believe that you know from the page that says new testament back
that was god that was jehovah that was the father from this page forward that's jesus but when he says that they did not believe my words do you know what
the the word dabar this is the word that's used in hebrew those of you who speak hebrew please
excuse my pronunciation and ignorance in this whole area but the 10 debar these are the 10 words these are words to us
this is the word of god to us and he's saying if they don't believe my words they have one that judges him oh boy what is he saying friend you don't have a snowball's
chance you just don't have a chance if you're not keeping the commandments of god those are jesus's words that was jesus in
sinai the pre-incarnate christ admittedly but it was him nonetheless as moses seeing this being up
there seeing his backward parts hearing his voice jesus gets over here and he is the authority
says no man seen god at any time or heard his voice how can that be so it's easy it's easy
and that was jesus christ on sinai that gave us those words. He says that the word that I have spoken,
the same shall judge him on that day.
Here you go with the commandments
being a part of your judgment.
For I've not spoken this of myself,
but the Father which sent me,
he gave me a commandment,
what I should say and what I should speak.
And I know that his commandment is life everlasting.
Whatsoever I speak, therefore,
even as the Father said unto me,
so I speak.
And I want you to get the idea that because i wrote the words in rock that
they're all mine i wrote those words in the rock because my father made it clear to me these are my
words to my people so even as i'm here among you now you hear me speak those are the words of the father i don't have an opinion in this
this is all the father's doing he works hitherto and i work i know you want to make jesus out to
be god i know you you feel like you're blaspheming if you don't you've been tolding if you don't. You've been told that if you don't you're denying his divinity and denying the
trinity and getting yourself in just a whole heap of trouble.
But we shouldn't fear those kind of things
when Jesus makes this distinction very, very clear.
Now,
yes, I want to make sure that we've finished what I wanted to talk about in there
before we move to chapter 101.
Jesus predicts the destruction of the temple and the coming disasters.
Jesus came out of the temple.
One of his disciples said to him,
Master, see what manner of stones and buildings are here.
Jesus replied,
Seeest thou these great buildings?
There shall not be left one stone upon another.
They shall not be thrown down.
In another gospel, he says,
See ye not all these things?
There you go go getting all
twitterpated about all these wonderful stones
and the etchings
and the carvings
you know Herod's name on every one of these stones
a man that's not even a Jew
why are you so excited about this temple
now you know I was really shocked to hear
that a certain school of Jews, a certain
sect of Jews actually expected
I guess they still expect that when Messiah
comes that he's going to destroy the temple.
I don't know that it's destroy the temple,
perhaps dismantle it. Because
why would he do such a thing? Well because you're the temple of God.
You're the temple. This is why this third temple
push is so ridiculous for Christians to be involved in.
Yeah, there probably will be a third temple. Yes, there probably
will be, but not commissioned by the Lord God.
The Lord God's intention was for you to be the temple. He made that possible.
Repentance, regeneration, day of Pentecost, filled with
the Spirit of God. You're the temple of God.
So it was still,
it intrigued me to find out that
many Jews believed that when Messiah came
that he would end up dismantling that temple.
Well, his mission failed.
He probably would have done that very thing.
Once he was offered on that altar,
there was no other sacrifice to be made.
If it had happened,
and he allowed the Jews 40 years to repent,
they continually put sacrifices on the altar,
but they weren't covering his blood.
His blood was on an old filthy wooden pole outside Jerusalem.
But they continued to do sacrifices for 40 years
until finally Jehovah said, that's enough of that.
That's enough of that.
So let's get back to our reading here.
It says, Behold what manner of stones these are.
Seest thou these great buildings?
There shall not be one stone left upon another.
They shall not be thrown down.
You better get your focus right.
You better get your attitude right.
Jesus sat on the Mount of Olives near the temple.
Peter, James, and John, and Andrew came to him and asked,
Tell us when these things shall be,
and what shall be the sign
when all these things shall be fulfilled?
This book, the little book called The Words of Jesus,
it has a few flaws in it,
and one of the flaws, which is very difficult to overcome, by the way,
I'm not really criticizing here,
is the chronology of exactly what happened and when.
It's very difficult to do in the Scriptures.
I've approached it and attempted it many different times
and to no avail.
But it becomes obvious that some things were said after certain things happened,
or those things had to have happened for this to have been said.
But it's contained in a story that happened before those things were said, or after them.
Sometimes it's very
confusing. You'd have to just dismantle the whole thing. And you'd have to be
led of the Holy Spirit to the point of automatic writing
to actually put this in some kind of
chronological order. It's pretty obvious that that is
hardly
necessary for us to understand.
But it can help. In this particular time
Jesus was talking about the
things that were going to come on the earth. Here they just tied it to when are these
stones going to be thrown down?
By the way, there are still stones one upon another.
Have you ever thought of that? Yeah,
the whole wailing wall. All those stones still
one upon another. He says there won't be a stone
that won't be thrown down. Well, obviously that hasn't
happened yet. Of course,
yeah, I mean, let's just, you know, take it easy
here and relax a little bit. I do think that
his intention was to destroy the temple, but
when he comes in
might and power and the kingdoms of this world become the kingdoms
of our God and the new Jerusalem
is parked where it's going to go and
there's no reason to believe it's going to be there. There's no real reason to believe
it's going to be anywhere in particular. It doesn't really matter.
But at that point I believe that this temple will
likely be eradicated.
Or what's left of it. Do you remember when John
was looking around heaven? One of the things he noticed
looking around the kingdom of God, one of the things that he noticed was
there's no temple there.
No temple? Why isn't there any temple? We have to have a temple. Again, I say, you are the temple of God. So, I mean, this is an irrefutable doctrine. I know that some people take Ezekiel's
vision about the temple and try to turn that into a third temple. But there's really
no reason to believe that. There's no reason to believe that Ezekiel wasn't talking about the
temple that Herod built. And I mean, he keeps telling him, you know, get out your measuring
tape and check these measurements. Does that look like what I told you to do? All right.
Jesus continues here.
Take heed, lest any man deceive you.
Important that he put that at the very beginning of what he had to say. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ, and shall deceive many.
And when ye shall hear of wars, and rumors of wars, be not troubled.
For such things must needs be.
But the end is not yet, for nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.
And there shall be earthquakes in diverse places, and there shall be famines and troubles.
These are the beginnings of sorrows. These, but take heed to yourselves,
for they shall deliver you up to councils,
and in the synagogues you shall be beaten, and you shall be brought before rulers and kings for my sake
for a testimony against them.
And the gospel must first be published. Among all nations.
But when they shall lead you.
And deliver you up.
Take no thought beforehand.
What you shall speak.
Neither do ye premeditate.
But whatsoever.
Shall be given you in that hour.
That ye shall speak.
For it is not ye that speak.
But the Holy Ghost. our time is gone already
my goodness we'll finish this paragraph and you shall be hated of all men for my namesake
but he shall that he that endureth to the end the same shall be saved wow sounds like a provisional promise. Sounds like a conditional promise.
Sounds like an if-then statement.
All right. Many, many things to talk about.
Time's stopping us now, but we'll continue right here
