President Trump addressed leaders at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland this morning,
where he ruled out using military force to gain U.S. control over Greenland.
We probably won't get anything unless I decide to use excessive strength and force,
but I won't do that.
But Trump said control is necessary because NATO obligates the U.S. to protect Greenland from an attack,
since the island is a self-governed territory of Denmark.
The president also spoke about one country where he did recently use force, Venezuela.
The attack ended and they said, let's make a deal.
More people should do that.
He went on to promise that Venezuela will make more money in the next six months than it has in the past 20 years.
Also, in Switzerland today, U.S. Special Envoy Steve Whitkoff.
He told reporters this morning he plans to meet with R.
Russian leader Vladimir Putin and a delegation from Ukraine.
We plan to discuss peace in Ukraine and Russia.
How do you think it will go?
I'm hopeful that all meetings will go well on that subject.
We need a peace.
But it was anything but peaceful in Ukraine overnight.
Authorities there say a Russian drone attack killed at least three people and injured two more.
Meanwhile, in the Middle East.
Israel is facing criticism after it demolished the East Jerusalem headquarter.
quarters of UNRWA. That's the United Nations Relief Agency that provides aid to Palestinians.
A UN deputy spokesman yesterday called the demolition unlawful and told reporters,
The compounds at UN facility and it's therefore inviolable under the Convention on Privileges
and Immunities of the United Nations, which all UN member states are obliged to respect
without exception. But the Israeli government calls UNRWA a breeding ground for terrorism and banned it
from operating in areas under Israeli jurisdiction.
On Capitol Hill, the clock is ticking again.
Congress is scrambling to avoid yet another government shutdown
as the latest appropriations bill is set to expire
at the end of this month.
Speaking to reporters today, GOP House Speaker Mike Johnson
says congressional Republicans plan to introduce
three new appropriations bills this week to...
Restore peace through strength to defend our border
and to deport criminal illegal aliens,
to rebuild America's infrastructure,
and to make America healthy again.
But some Democrats are calling for funding
to be pulled from immigration and customs enforcement
after recent unrest in Minnesota.
