With World Radio News, I'm Kent Coveington. President Trump says the U.S. is negotiating a deal that would give American forces broad access to Greenland as part of a new Arctic security framework. It's really being negotiated now, the details of it, but essentially it's total access. There's no end. There's no time limit. He says the deal does not require Denmark to give up sovereignty over the island, and he says he is satisfied with the arrangement. NATO Secretary General Mark Ruta says the plan would mean allies working together more closely on Arctic security. Trump says the agreement would tie Greenland into the Golden Dome Missile Defense System

and expand U.S. and allied military activity in the Arctic. It's a very important part because everything comes over Greenland. If the bad guys start shooting, it comes over Greenland. So we knock it down. Greenland's Prime Minister Jens Friedrich Nielsen says details are still being worked out. We are ready to cooperate more in economics, in other areas, but that's something we have to talk about in mutual respect. He stressed again that Greenland's sovereignty is non-negotiable.

A powerful winter storm is barreling across the United States and could hit areas from Texas all the way to New England this weekend. Forecasters warned the system could bring heavy snow and ice and dangerously cold air to more than 200 million people. Texas Governor Greg Abbott issued a disaster-due. declaration for 134 counties. If you're in an area with this ultra-cold temperature that also has precipitation, do not be on the road unless you have to be on the road.

Officials have closed schools and canceled events from Texas to Georgia ahead of the storm. Snow is expected to build in the Midwest and Northeast later in the weekend. Former special counsel Jack Smith faced sharp questions Thursday during testimony before the House Judiciary Committee defending. his handling of investigations involving then former president Donald Trump. Smith told lawmakers he has zero regrets. I stand by my decisions as special counsel, including the decision to bring charges against President Trump. Smith argued that the evidence supported his actions and suggested the cases could have led to convictions, including for alleged 2020 election interference.

But Republicans on the committee strongly disagreed, accusing Smith of overreach and political bias committee chairman Jim Jordan. But of course we shouldn't be surprised. Democrats have been going after President Trump for 10 years, for a decade. President Trump reacted online calling the testimony of failure for Smith and accusing the former special counsel of lying under oath. He said Smith should face prosecution.
