Starting point is 00:00:00 With World Radio News, I'm Mary Muncie. The nation is bracing for what meteorologists are calling a massive and life-threatening winter storm this weekend. That storm is set to bring heavy snow, freezing rain, and sub-zero temperatures, affecting more than 230 million people in 40 states. National Weather Service Director Ken Graham told Fox and Friends this morning, You're going to have the snow eight to 12 inches, if not more in some places, and the devastating, catastrophic in some areas, ice that could knock out power, knock down power lines, trees, and that's a prolonged event and a dangerous event. He went on to say that some areas will likely experience large amounts of sleet, which would make any travel extremely hazardous. Over 1,500 flights were already canceled this weekend before the storm began. And that storm has officials in several states scrambling to prepare for the worst.
Starting point is 00:01:00 Philadelphia Mayor Sherell Parker. The expected snow accumulations and heavy snowfall rates will create hazardous roadway conditions for people and vehicles. Mayor Zohran Mandani offered similar advice to those in the Big Apple, which could seem more than a foot of snow. Once the snow begins to fall, I want to encourage. New Yorkers to do something that we don't often have the luxury of doing, which is to take a breath and stay home. Kentucky has already declared a state of emergency, where cities such as Louisville could see 16 inches of snow or more. Federal authorities have arrested several people involved in a protest that disrupted a Christian church service in Minnesota this week, including the
Starting point is 00:01:48 alleged ringleader. U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi announced that Homeland Security and FBI agents arrested lawyer and activist Nekima Levy Armstrong on Thursday. Vice President J.D. Vance that same day said protesters in the Twin Cities area have gone too far. You don't have to agree with my immigration policies, but if you want to protest by going to an innocent church service on a Sunday, you see these images. They're scaring little kids who are there to worship God on a Sunday morning. The FBI alleges those arrested violated the federal. Face Act, which prohibits interfering with the exercise of religion in a place of worship. A magistrate judge has reportedly declined to move forward on charges against former CNN host
