Starting point is 00:00:01 With World Radio News, I'm Kent Covington. Talks to end Russia's invasion of Ukraine have shown progress, but major hurdles remain. That is the word from the Kremlin after another round of trilateral talks in Abu Dhabi between U.S., Ukrainian and Russian officials, White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt. The President remains deeply involved, and of course he's being apprised by his advisors, namely Jared Kushner, and special envoy Whitkoff, on these talks they had. So the President is not giving up on the peace process. Moscow says the meetings were constructive and that another round is planned for later this week.
Starting point is 00:00:36 Still, they say there has been no breakthrough. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also described the talks as productive. But he added that his words, real diplomatic results are needed to avoid the impression that the Russians are using the negotiation process for very cynical, harsh purposes. He urged allies to keep up the pressure on Moscow. Caroline Levin on Monday also addressed a fatal shooting in Minnesota when federal immigration officers shot and killed a protester during an incident over the weekend. Saturday's shooting remains under active investigation by Homeland Security Investigations and the FBI. The Customs and Border Protection is also conducting their own internal review.
Starting point is 00:01:19 Tensions remain high in Minneapolis after the death of ICU nurse Alex Prettty. Federal agents wrestled Preddy to the ground during a confrontation, disarmed, him and then fired multiple shots as he was restrained. Meantime, President Trump said he had a very good call with Minnesota Governor Tim Walls on Monday, adding that the governor wants to, quote, work together to turn down the temperature in his state. That comes as the president also announced he's sending his Bordersar Tom Homan to oversee operations there and some federal agents are expected to leave.
Starting point is 00:01:50 Rescue teams in Indonesia are still searching for dozens who remain missing after a deadly landslide. World's Joshua Gagne has more. At least 17 people were killed when the landslide struck a mountainside village in West Java over the weekend. Heavy rains sent tons of mud, rocks, and trees crashing downhill, burying homes and a military training camp. Among the missing are 19 Indonesian Marines who were training in rugged terrain when the slope gave way. More than 2,000 rescuers are now on scene. They're digging by hand and using pumps, drones, and heavy equipment.
Starting point is 00:02:30 Progress has been slow. Narrow roads, deep mud, and unstable ground have made it hard to reach some areas safely. Seasonal rains often trigger landslides across Indonesia during this time of year. For World, I'm Joshua Gagne. And I'm Kent Covington.
