Crews in suburban Philadelphia are digging through the wreckage of a nursing home
to figure out what caused an explosion that killed two people and injured dozens more.
The blast tore through part of the Bristol Health and Rehab Center Tuesday afternoon,
collapsing walls and the roof.
One nearby resident described the force of that explosion.
I was sitting at home watching basketball game.
I thought the airplane or something came, fell on my house.
I heard loud a caboon.
One resident and a 52-year-old employee were killed,
and about 20 others were hurt, with several still hospitalized.
Investigators say a utility crew was on site,
checking a reported gas odor when the explosion happened.
California officials are urging drivers to rethink Christmas travel
as a powerful series of winter storms moves across the state.

My message to Angelinos as we go into the Christmas holiday is to be prepared and stay informed.
We encourage you if you can to stay off the roads.
An atmospheric river was expected to deliver up to 10 inches of rain across Los Angeles County.
Elsewhere in the state, parts of the Bay Area and Sacramento Valley were still under flood and wind warnings.

In Paris, workers installed metal security bars on a second floor window at the Louvre Museum after a daring jewel heist.

The Louvre was closed while Cruz used a freight lift to secure the same window thieves cut through in October to reach the Apollo Gallery.
In that break-in, four suspects disguised as workers, rode a lift to the balcony, sliced the glass, and grabbed French crown jewels,
valued at more than $100 million.
Police have arrested and charged four suspects,
but the stolen jewels have not been recovered.

Wall Street closed high on a quiet holiday shortened trading day,
with stocks setting more records.
The Dow jumped nearly 300 points,
while the S&P 500 and NASDAQ also edged up.
The gains followed news of the strongest U.S. economic growth
in two years.
with consumer spending driving a solid third quarter expansion.
With markets closed Christmas Day,
trading is expected to stay light on Friday
as investors look ahead to interest rate decisions in the new year.
