In Ukraine,
Christ of Christ is born and let us glorify him, rang out in Kiev,
as roughly 1,000 Ukrainians gathered yesterday to celebrate Christmas.
Residents sang carols and carried brightly decorated Christmas stars.
One participant said, today is Christmas, and she intends to celebrate it, but a familiar sound interrupted the celebration.
Air raid sirens sounded as a Russian drone flew near the capital.
In a separate incident, one person was killed and eight others injured in a Russian drone attack on the Ukrainian city of Dronyev.
King Charles III in a Christmas message urged people to choose kind of,
and unity at a time of war, political tension, and social division.
Speaking from Westminster Abbey, the king said Christ's example shines as a light for the world today.
Of course, the greatest pilgrimage of all is the journey we celebrate today.
The story of the one who came down to earth from heaven, whose shelter was a stable,
and who shared his life with the poor and lowly.
His address aired as fighting continues in Ukraine, and the broadcast ended with a Ukrainian choir
singing a carol, a quiet nod to the ongoing conflict.
China is again warning of military action against Taiwan and criticizing Japan, raising tensions
in the Indo-Pacific. World's Kristen Flavin has more.
Beijing says it prefers peaceful reunification with Taiwan, but made clear that force remains an option.
China's defense ministry spokesman Zhang Shiau Gong said Beijing would never promise to renounce the use of force
and warned the military is ready to act.
The remarks come as China watches closer
U.S. and Japanese military cooperation,
including recent joint drills.
Shiao Gong also accused Japan
of a dangerous tendency towards a militarist revival
and said China would respond to any provocation.

The European Union is pushing back
after the United States imposed travel bans on five Europeans
accused of pressuring tech companies to censor American speech.
Secretary of State Mark Urubio says the move targets activists and groups
he claims tried to influence online content rules that affect U.S. platforms.
European leaders say the U.S. bands are unjustified
and argue their digital laws apply evenly to all companies operating in Europe.
