Starting point is 00:00:00 With World Radio News, I'm Kent Covington. The U.S. military has carried out air strikes against ISIS-linked militants in Nigeria. Following a series of deadly attacks in the country's northwest, World's Mary Reinhard has war. President Trump said the strikes targeted extremists accused of killing civilians, including Christians, though officials have not released details on damage or casualties. The Pentagon says the strikes were coordinated with Nigeria's government and approved by authorities in Abuja. Security analysts believe the target may have been the Lakurawa group, which has expanded

Nigerian officials say several armed groups operating across the country are to blame for the violence, and they say it impacts both Christian and Muslim communities. But the Trump administration has voiced concern over the particular targeting of Christians. For World, I'm Mary Reichard. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskyy says he plans to. to meet with President Trump in Florida over the weekend. The main topic, security guarantees for Ukraine if and when a peace deal is reached with Russia.
Starting point is 00:01:11 Zelensky says a peace proposal is about 90% ready for U.S. officials to open talks with Moscow. He says finalizing a peace deal will not be easy and no one believes it will happen right away, but things are moving in the right direction. Millions of Americans living in the mid-Atlantic and northeastern regions of the U.S. are preparing for an intense winter storm to hit this weekend. Brian Hurley with the National Weather Service cautioned residents. Stay abreast of the latest weather information, but also be prepared for some impactful road conditions in terms of, you know, snow and ice coverage. Forecasters say the storm could bring a mix of heavy snow, sleet, and freezing rain, making travel difficult.
Starting point is 00:01:55 during a busy holiday weekend. Meantime, parts of Southern California remain on edge after days of heavy rain soaked hillsides and areas charred by recent wildfires. Flood watches are still in effect this afternoon for areas including L.A., Ventura, Malibu Coast, and San Bernardino and Riverside Valleys. This little green one here seems to need a home.
Starting point is 00:02:19 Charlie Brown is moving to a new home. The Sony Entertainment Group is buying a larger stake of Snoopy, Linus, and the Peanuts franchise. Sony has agreed to pay a Canadian company more than $450 million, increasing its share of the late Charles M. Schultz creation. Schultz's family is retaining 20% of the ownership. Sony will become the sole keeper of the rest of the steak. All I want is what I have coming to me.
