Starting point is 00:00:01 With World Radio News, I'm Kent Covington. The Trump administration's efforts to broker a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine continue. President Trump reportedly held a 30-minute phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymere Zelensky today, in which the pair discussed next steps. Secretary of State Mark Urubio told reporters that only the United States could make it happen. The United Nations isn't going to do it. France isn't going to do it. The EU isn't going to do it.
Starting point is 00:00:26 The Russians won't even speak to them. U.S. Special Envoy Steve Whitkoff said he is hoping for good news. in the coming weeks, while Vice President J.D. Vance admits the process has turned out to be much more difficult than the Trump administration expected. Iran and the United States held hours of indirect talks today over Tehran's nuclear program. World's Mary Muncie has more. The two sides walked away without a deal as the threat of U.S. military action looms. The president has deployed a massive fleet of aircraft and warships in the region. Oman's foreign minister, Badir al-Qaeda, Abussedi, who mediated the talks in Geneva, said there had been significant progress in the negotiation,
Starting point is 00:01:08 but did not elaborate. But just before the talks ended, Iranian state television reported that Tehran was determined to continue enriching uranium. And it said Iran rejected proposals to transfer it abroad, indicating it was not prepared to meet President Trump's demands. For World, I'm Mary Muncie. former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton provided closed-door testimony to lawmakers today about her family's ties to Jeffrey Epstein. The House Oversight Committee first called Hillary and former President Bill Clinton to testify last month. The couple initially refused but later changed their minds under threat of contempt of Congress charges. Committee Chairman James Comer.
