The House has voted to end the partial government shutdown, clearing a stopgap funding bill this afternoon with some bipartisan support.
The measure funds most federal agencies through the end of September, but it only gives the Department of Homeland Security temporary funding for two more weeks, buying time for talks over immigration enforcement.
Our Speaker Mike Johnson told reporters, we just had an important and historic vote on the House floor, a series of votes today, in fact, and we deliver for the American people.
President Trump has said he will sign it once it reaches his desk.
Negotiations now shift to long-term immigration policy
where sharp divisions remain over ICE operations.
Homeland Security funding also affects things like TSA Airport Security,
the Secret Service, and the U.S. Coast Guard.
President Trump has asked the Kremlin to hold off on attacks on Ukrainian civilian areas
during the current cold snap, but there is no indication so far that Russia is complying.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said Russia is disregarding that request,
once again targeting Ukraine's energy sector overnight.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rudah said those attacks are only creating chaos and told Zelensky.
I'm absolutely sure that the Americans will have noticed.
They see what happened.
They will hear this.
They will take this also what it is.
And that is an attack again on innocent civilians.
All of this comes ahead of another round of trilateral peace talks
that U.S. officials are holding with Russia.
Russia and Ukraine starting tomorrow and the United Arab Emirates.
President Trump met today with Colombian President Gustavo Petro at the White House
as they work to smooth over tensions between the two leaders.
World's Paul Butler has more.
Trump told reporters ahead of the meeting that Petro appears more open to cooperating
following recent developments in the region.
Relations between Washington and Bogota have been strained in recent months,
including disagreements over U.S. counter-drug operations,
and the handling of Venezuela.
Trump and Petro had publicly traded jabs for weeks.
U.S. officials say the talks today focused on regional security
and efforts to curb drug trafficking.

The U.S. military says a Navy fighter jet shot down an Iranian drone
after it flew toward the aircraft carrier, the USS Abraham Lincoln, and the Arabian Sea.
Officials said the drone kept approaching despite warnings and other efforts to defeat,
used the situation, an F-35 jet launched from the carrier and destroyed the aircraft.
No U.S. personnel were hurt and no equipment was damaged.
The incident adds to already high tensions between Washington and Tehran,
with President Trump threatening military action if Iran does not negotiate an end to its nuclear
weapons program.
