With World Radio News, I'm Kent Covington. The Trump administration says it wants to form a new trading group with allies to secure critical rare earth minerals and reduce dependence on China. U.S. officials say Beijing's control of rare earths has exposed risks to global supply chains. Vice President J.D. Vance announced the plan Wednesday at a meeting in Washington with officials from Europe, Asia, and Africa. While we believe America's market is large enough to create its own critical mineral trading zone, this entire effort will be stronger and far more competitive if we build it together.

He said the goal is steady supply, stable prices, and more mining and processing outside of China. Those minerals are used in everything from missiles to smartphones. Officials want member nations to coordinate tariffs and investment to support production and friendly nations. The U.S. is also building a strategic stockpile and investing billions in domestic mining projects. We are all on the same team. create the economic incentives that reward people for investing and building in our countries. Some allies have already signed on while others are still weighing the proposal.

A man convicted of trying to assassinate President Trump on a Florida golf course will spend the rest of his life in federal prison. U.S. District Judge Aline Cannon handed down the sentence Wednesday in Fort Pierce. Prosecutors Zed Ryan Ruth spent weeks planning the attack before aiming a rifle onto a golf course on which Trump was playing in September. of 2024. Martin County Sheriff John Buden seek said justice prevailed. He added that the defendant tried to portray himself as a do-gooder and a victim. I think Judge Cannon said it best.

The Post said the cuts were needed to adjust to changes in technology and audience habits. It will now focus more narrowly on politics, national affairs, and security, as it works to stabilize its business.
