Starting point is 00:00:01 With World Radio News, I'm Kent Covington. The Seattle Seahawks are champions once again, defeating the New England Patriots last night in Super Bowl 60. And that will do it. Reigns above the ball in the NFL. The Seahawks, Super Bowl champions for the second time. That, courtesy of NBC Sports. The final score was 29 to 13 from Levi's Stadium in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Starting point is 00:00:32 Kenneth Walker III was named Super Bowl. Bowl MVP after running for 135 yards, adding two catches for 26 yards. The Seahawks last won the Super Bowl in 2014. A new FDA rule gives food producers more flexibility to claim their products contain no artificial colors. FDA Commissioner Dr. Marty McCari. We also are approving more natural dyes from natural ingredients so that there's alternatives to the traditional nine petroleum-based food dyes that parents don't want. Those new approved natural dyes include beetroot red, and manufacturers are also permitted to use spirulina extract as a natural color. The FDA says in a statement that those colors were requested by petition the food industry has until next year to comply. Investigators in Tucson, Arizona, are still trying to find 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, the mother of today's show co-host Savannah Guthrie. Authorities believe she was taken against her will more than a week ago.
Starting point is 00:01:31 the DNA testing confirmed that blood found at the house was Nancy's. No suspects have been identified in police are searching several locations and reviewing evidence, including alleged ransom messages sent to media outlets. Savannah Guthrie on Sunday had this message to her mother's captors. We received your message and we understand. We beg you now to return our mother to us so that we can celebrate with her. This is very valuable to us and we will pay. Local stations say OneNote demanded millions in payment by today, though officials have not confirmed that amount.
Starting point is 00:02:07 In Sudan, a drone attack hit a vehicle carrying displaced families in a central region, killing at least 24 people, including eight children. The paramilitary group known as the Rapid Support Forces is reportedly behind the strike. The group has for years fought Sudan's National Army for control of the country. Those wounded in the drone strike were taken to Rahad, which faces severe medical supply shortages. The Sudan Doctors Network is urging international action to protect civilians and hold the RSF accountable.
