With World Radio News, I'm Mark Mellinger.
Homeland Security Secretary Christy Noem is out.
After months of rising criticism, President Trump fired the head of DHS Thursday.
And as World Terrorist and Waters reports, he also named the nominee to replace her.
The bridge too far came on Tuesday when Noam testified under oath that President Trump pre-authorized $220 million in advertising spending.
Did it correct?
Did the president know you're going to do this?
Yes.
He did?
Mm-hmm. Yes.
Okay. President Trump later refuted that claim.
Nome has also faced complaints for heavy-handed management.
In her place, Trump is nominating Oklahoma Senator Mark Wayne Mullen.
I'm here to enforce the policies that Congress passed, and right now I'm part of it, but once I make that transition, my focus is to keep the homeland secure.
President Trump wants Mullen in his new role by the end of March, so the senator will soon face his colleagues for a confirmation vote.
Reporting for World, I'm Harrison Waters.
Republican efforts to pass a bill funding the Department of Homeland Security have failed again.

are holding up the money because they want restraints on immigration enforcement tactics.
President Trump says a diplomatic deal with Cuba is coming soon that will allow Cuban Americans
to return to their home country. His comments came as he welcomed the Major League Soccer
Champions enter Miami to the White House. One of the club's co-owners is of Cuban heritage,
and Trump told him, you're going to go back. Oh, yeah, yeah. It's going to be, and you won't need
my approval. You just fly back in when I can just see that. That's going to be a great day, right?
We're going to celebrate that separately. I just want to wait a couple of weeks.
The U.S. has long imposed economic sanctions on Cuba as a way of pressuring the communist nation
to stop its human rights violations. The National Capital Planning Commission has delayed a vote
to approve President Trump's ballroom project after getting an earful from the public.
In a public comment session on the project over Zoom Thursday, only one of the 28 people who spoke was in favor.
Most of the comments were more like these from a woman named Kai Rowan.
It's ugly. It's just ugly. It's too much, you know.
A vote for final approval of the project is now pushed back to next month.
