This ascent isn't for everyone.
You need grit to climb this high this often.
You've got to be an underdog that always over-delivers.
You've got to be 6,500 hospital staff, 1,000 doctors,
all doing so much with so little.
You've got to be Scarborough.
Defined by our uphill battle and always striving towards new heights.
And you can help us keep climbing.

This is a CBC podcast.
This is World Report.
Good morning, I'm John Northcott.
We begin with the CBC Marketplace investigation now
and a warning to listeners that the content may be disturbing to some.
It includes references to sexual assault and suicide.
Canada's Justice Minister is promising new laws to crack down on child luring,
extortion, and deep fakes.
This commitment in response to a marketplace investigation
showing sextortion is on the rise with young Canadian boys
as the target and scammers, a world away in West Africa.
Ashton Tomlinson reports.
He was kind of the glue that held this altogether.
Ryan Cleland from Prince George, BC,
is still processing the loss of his 12-year-old son to sexortion two years ago.
I had spoken with Carson about sexortion online and what to do if it happens.
Carson started talking to who he thought was a girl on social media, but it was a scammer.
He sent a nude photo and was blackmailed.
Then he took his own life.
He's just a boy, and that's an adult problem.
That's why they pick on the kids.
Extortion is sexual blackmail, where kids are lured into sending nude images than threatened for money.
Canada's child exploitation tip line, CyberTip, tells us it receives between 50 and 80 reports a week.
85% of victims are boys.
Paul Raphael is a cybercrime analyst.
There is no other scam that involves targeting children,
coercing them into a sexually compromising situation.
It's run by a network called the Yahoo Boys based in Nigeria.
We find a member willing to talk.
Yeah, most times it's very hard to find a job.
So I just need something doing to survive.
Ryan Cleland wants to see more action from government.
Minister of Justice, Sean Fraser, says new laws are on the way.
What people should expect to see, in short word, is new criminal legislation that's going to address online sexploitation and extortion of kids.
You should expect to see the first steps taken in the fall sitting.
Asha Tomlinson, CBC News, Toronto.
And there are resources that you can turn to if you or anyone you know has been extorted or having thoughts of suicide.
You can find CyberTip online.
or call or text the suicide crisis helpline, that's 988 anywhere in Canada, or call
kids' help phone.
Police in Manchester, England, say one of the two people killed in yesterday's synagogue attack
may have died from police gunfire.
One of the three people injured was also hit by police bullets.
Meanwhile, Interior Minister Shabana Mahmoud is urging the cancellation of a pro-Palestinian
demonstration planned for London tomorrow.
What I would say to people that are planning to go on a protest is just to take a step back for a minute.
Imagine if you had lost a loved one to a terror attack in this country.
And just because you have a freedom doesn't mean to say you have to use it all the time.
Sometimes a little unity, a little solidarity, some love and friendship to other people is required.
MacMood says Britain's Jewish community needs a chance to grieve.
Donald Trump is giving Hamas a Sunday deadline to agree to his Gaza peace proposal.
The U.S. President says, if that does not come before 6 p.m. Washington time, then in his words,
quote, all hell like no one has ever seen before will break out against Hamas, end quote.
Trump announced his 20-point peace plan on Monday.
Hamas is reviewing it, but has not yet responded.
One of Canada's intelligence watchdogs is raising serious concerns about the Canada Revenue Agency,
then how it audits charities for connections to terrorism.
The investigation follows years of allegations
that the CRA is biased against Muslim charities.
Catherine Tunney reports.
Deeply flawed, they're biased and they're discriminatory.
Tim McSorley with the International Civil Liberties Monitoring Group
has spent years arguing the CRA on fairly targets Muslim charities,
disproportionately selecting them to be audited based on terrorism concerns.
Vindication this week,
in the form of a report from one of the country's intelligence watchdogs.
The National Security and Intelligence Review Agency spent about two years combing the records of CRA's review and analysis division, known as RAD.
The unit is meant to make sure registered charities aren't being used to finance terrorism.
Investigators say the CIA could not justify why it opened audits into so many Muslim charities,
and then its whole process lacked rigor and potentially violates the charter.
relied on either dated information, guilt by associations that are unsubstantiated.
CRA says it's already making changes based on the report's findings.
Wayne Long, the government secretary of state for CRA, says he'll make sure that happens.
We know the charities do great work across our country, and we will kind of lean in,
and I will personally lean in and make sure that things are right.
The National Council of Canadian Muslims wants the liberal government to go further.
It says rat is so problematic. It's time to dismantle the unit and start over.
over. Catherine Tunney, CBC News, Ottawa.
Prime Minister Mark Carney is to meet face-to-face with U.S. President Donald Trump
next Tuesday in Washington. Canada and the United States are still in negotiations to reach a
trade deal. Then although Canada has rescinded attacks on big U.S. tech firms and dropped
its retaliatory tariffs, there is still no sign of an agreement.
Canada Post has presented a new offer to the Canadian Union of Postal Workers.
It includes a compounded wage increase of more.
than 13% over four years.
But due to the company's deteriorating financial situation,
Canada Post says a signing bonus for employees is no longer on the table.
No response so far from the Union.
Yukon is headed into an election.
The writ will drop later today.
Julian Green, rather Green, reports.
Here we go.
Liberal Premier Mike Pemberton says,
above all issues, the territory is facing housing is the utmost concern.
Solving the housing crisis means all hands.
on deck. The territory's conservative Yukon party also wants to zero in on housing. Leader
Curry Dixon says his party is poised to deliver changes UConners expect after years of a
liberal government. There's been a shortage of housing and challenges with affordability and
availability of housing in the Yukon, so we're going to be focused on that. The Yukon NDP is largely
building its campaign around health care, which leader Kate White says has been plunged into another
crisis. Who can you count on to attract more doctors, nurses and frontline workers? I want you to know
that you can count on me and the Yukon NDP. During the 31-day election period, the electorate will
face new changes, two new ridings and others with redrawn boundaries. Julian Green, CBC News,
Whitehorse. There is a brand new Archbishop of Canterbury this morning for the first time in nearly
500 years of the church's history. It's a woman. Sarah Malali has been chosen as the spiritual
leader of the Church of England.
Washing feet has shaped my Christian vocation as a nurse, then a priest, then a bishop.
In the apparent chaos which surrounds us, in the midst of such profound global uncertainty,
the possibility of healing lies in acts of kindness and love.
Malali has a big job ahead.
The church is divided over the treatment of women and 2S-LGBQ plus people.
will also have to confront concerns that church leaders
haven't done enough to address sexual abuse scandals.

The Life of a Showgirl is the pop superstar's 12th original album.

The Life of a Showgirl, that dropped overnight.
And there's a theatrical release in theaters across the country for the next three days.
People are ready.
Swift made the new album during the ERAs tour.
As for what's on the big screen, what's promised is behind the scenes content.
Taking it all in in Halifax is Liz Duff, the host of the pop culture podcast Late Night Scroll.
She's launched it in a way where fans can come together.
She's asked people to put back on the outfits they wore to tour,
showing up in glitter and fringe dresses and all kinds of exciting costumes
to really make it a moment and feel like you're a part of the community.
It's the second time that Swift has had a theatrical release.
The ERA's tour film was a big hit in movie theaters in 2023.
But this content is expected to be different.
It will include a new music video for the fate of Ophelia.
