Welcome to A Bit of Fit, where we bring you bite-sized bits of health and fitness tips to implement in everyday life.
My name is Emma Weirman, and I like to keep fit, though I am not a certified medical professional.
Please be sure to confer with your doctor before implementing dietary or fitness regimen changes.
Today's topic is about how weightlifting boosts bone density.
As your bones resist the weight you're under, you stress them, which signals your body to strengthen them.
This process is called bone remodeling, where new bone tissue is formed, especially,
in weight-bearing areas like the hips, spine, and legs. Over time, this reduces the risk of osteoporosis
and fractures, especially as you age. Strong bones also support better posture, balance, and overall
mobility. In short, lifting weights doesn't just build muscle. It builds a stronger skeletal
foundation for long-term health and independence. That was today's bit of fit. I'm Emma Weirman
on Radio Free Hillsdale, 101.7 FM.
